This is a must see. Not being a big Shakespeare fan and not knowing what I was getting myself into. I left with a new appreciation for Shakespeare. I was laughing so hard I was crying which hasn’t happen in quite some time. The cast did a fantastic job. I will definitely see this again next time I’m in NYC!

  • Review 2 (2024-11-13 - Rating: 4)

Definitely a fun night out! The actors(tresses) were top notch. The venue is small and intimate, very Victorian Library-esque vibes 😍. It’s interactive without making you uncomfortable, and you’re too busy laughing to care. It’s a unique idea for the show, though you do feel bad for their livers if they’re knocking back that many shots nightly 😳.You order drinks (and limited nibbles) via barcode to your seat - service is great but only one issue is there’s nowhere to put your drink or nibbles down. So you end up putting it on the floor or holding it in your lap praying it doesn’t spill all over the stage. That was my only negative commentary, hence the 4/5 review. In terms of the show through, it’s great, you should see it for yourself. Shakespeare would very likely be super proud 😂

  • Review 3 (2024-12-23 - Rating: 5)

Excellent show. Great idea for an evening activity for a date, friends/family in town, etc. The actors are very professional but also make it light and engaging. Youll have more fun if you show up a little tipsy and engage with the play (if you want). Dont worry, they dont put anyone in the crowd on the spot. Super fun, highly recommend.

  • Review 4 (2024-08-04 - Rating: 5)

I recently attended Drunk Shakespeare, and it was an absolute blast! The show was hilarious and provided an incredibly good time from start to finish. Theres a lot of audience interaction, which makes you feel like youre part of the performance. The seating is arranged around the room, fully immersing you in the experience. A word of caution: if youre easily offended by sex jokes or jokes about politics, this is probably not for you, as its very irreverent. The drink menu is cleverly themed with references to Shakespeares works, adding an extra layer of fun. I will definitely recommend Drunk Shakespeare to others, and I cant wait to go again!

  • Review 5 (2024-12-30 - Rating: 5)

Insanely funny. So impressive we’re the actors witty intellect. We had so much fun and laughed the entire time. I look forward to going back

  • Review 6 (2024-07-23 - Rating: 5)

We had a fantastic time at Drunk Shakespeare and for a Monday night, the audience and performances from the cast couldn’t have been more enthusiastic. Words don’t adequately express the on-stage mayhem that takes twists and turns into Shakespeare meets improv. The laughter never stopped. Drinks were great too - first time I’ve had a drink with ‘smoke’ as an ingredient!

  • Review 7 (2024-08-17 - Rating: 5)

Me and my friends had a great time. We laughed until we cried, we drank, and well sing their praises forever. They had delicious drinks, and the performance was very intimate and made everyone feel included.

  • Review 8 (2024-07-09 - Rating: 5)

Amazing masterpiece of talent. Loved this more than the play we saw on broadway. The actors were so talented. They were amazing improv actors. I would recommend to anyone w a since of humor. Drinks were great. The theater was intimate. Over the moon can’t wait to come back w friends.

  • Review 9 (2024-05-28 - Rating: 5)

What an amazing show. An unbelievably talented troupe of actors whose wit and knowledge of Shakespeare goes well beyond their apparent years. If you are in the mood for something both cultured and raunchy, you have come to the right place. Throw caution to the wind and bid on the king and queen spot. Its the most fun you will have with your clothes on in New York.Actors take turns on a nightly basis drinking to excess prior to the performance and the laughs were so frequent, my face muscles got sore! Whether or not you like Shakespeare, you will love this group of talented misfits and the time will fly by so fast, you wont believe it.

  • Review 10 (2024-12-09 - Rating: 4)

Fun times. We saw them do Macbeth, and the actor who did the tequila shots was a pro… actor and drinker.

  • Review 11 (2024-12-03 - Rating: 5)

So much fun!! Drinks were great and were even able to make a drink for us that way not on the menu!! Great atmosphere. We had a great time! You will have a great time!!!

  • Review 12 (2024-02-20 - Rating: 5)

This was one of the most fun nights weve had in a while! Great troupe of actors/comedians/singers that gel great together! Would definitely go again! The drinks were fantastic too!

  • Review 13 (2024-12-17 - Rating: 5)

From entrance to exit, Drunk Shakespeare felt like a murdered out party at your neighbors house…with lots of tequila. We laughed literally the whole time. This cast has chemistry and lots of talent. Definitely a great go to. #drunkshakespeare #budgetoffbroadway

  • Review 14 (2024-07-20 - Rating: 5)

My husband decided he wanted to try this after seeing a FaceBook ad. I am so glad we went. It was an amazing show. The actors were amazing, the comedy was hilarious, and everyone was having a wonderful time. I am looking forward to seeing the show again!

  • Review 15 (2024-11-14 - Rating: 5)

This is my second time going to see the show and it won’t be my last. I love this production and how they perform it every time. My favorite time of year to go is around the holidays, because they have these amazing holiday theme drinks. Please go and see the show if you have not. Highly recommend 11/10.

  • Review 16 (2024-07-08 - Rating: 5)

What a fun night! The performance was exceptional, hilarious, and unhinged in the best possible way. The cast is so talented and their knowledge of Shakespeares work is expansive. As in, can recite monologues from various works at the drop of a hat. Its an absolute must-see and the perfect night out! 10/10

  • Review 17 (2024-06-29 - Rating: 5)

One of the most fun entertainment experiences I’ve enjoyed, especially considering the price. I will recommend this to everyone I know. Beyond the drunk actor and Shakespeare on display I surprisingly enjoyed so much comedy, audience interaction, and even some fantastic singing of modern songs. The single word to describe this is FUN. Don’t hesitate, just go and enjoy!

  • Review 18 (2018-11-25 - Rating: 5)

I booked this on groupon. Its really close by Times Square. The cast of the Shakespeare were engaging and so much fun. This show is one you should NOT miss. Its a great date night out or do attend with family. The laughs are a guarantee! We will definitely do this again when we get back to NYC;)

  • Review 19 (2024-01-28 - Rating: 5)

Went last night to the 5pm show. Highly, highly recommend. Great fun, entertaining and I laughed hard.

  • Review 20 (2024-05-14 - Rating: 5)

One of the most fun shows Ive ever seen! The actors are incredible in their own right and, coincidentally, absolutely hilarious! All seats have very good views of the performance. I would recommend the balcony seats as you get a table to place your drinks on and to hang your bags and coats from. Only downside is that the actors interact with the audience members in the front row.PS, the drinks are really good as well!

  • Review 21 (2024-10-16 - Rating: 4)

Really fun show. Id advise that you go into it knowing what Macbeth is about. I didnt know the story and it was tough to follow all the jokes. still fun tho

  • Review 22 (2024-07-11 - Rating: 5)

The actors in this show will engage with the audience in a unique way that will have you in tears. I cannot believe I had not heard of this before. My wife and I stumbled upon this as something to do Wednesday night and I am so glad we went. Drinks were good and have a variety. The players were fantastic and will have you laughing. Go see this and if you like to laugh you will really enjoy yourself.

  • Review 23 (2022-11-20 - Rating: 5)

Haha. A fun filled evening with these Drunkards. Did not anticipate what was about to hit us. A butchery of Shakespeare and a joyride. The artists are top notch and their dedication is hats off. They keep drinking and making the play along as it goes.We enjoyed ourselves fully. Highly recommended.

  • Review 24 (2024-07-25 - Rating: 5)

This was a blast. Best thing we saw in NYC. It is as advertised - it is drunk history but with MacBeth. The stage was intimate - literally beside the actors, and there is a good amount of audience participation.Fair warning. When you purchase a ticket for something called Drunk Shakespeare - it is as advertised. Its not a Shakespeare play. Its a parody, it has vulgar parts, there are copious references to alcohol, and if you are easily offended, it will push your boundaries so know that when you book.

  • Review 25 (2024-07-29 - Rating: 5)

An afterwork, 🍀 NYC night, for the 7pm show on 7/25. The intimate engaging environment set the tone, for a spellbound night of great improv laughter, and Macbeth Shakespeare play lines. I sat in the front row, with nonstop action, hahaha!! Recommended to colleagues and, tourists I meet..

  • Review 26 (2022-07-26 - Rating: 5)

We had no idea what to expect.....and we had an AMAZING time! A great, fun, talented group of actors....you feel like you are at a private party where you are lucky enough to watch your cool friends entertain you!!! We will return for another evening of pure joy!

  • Review 27 (2024-06-04 - Rating: 5)

If youre looking for something fun give this a try. We really enjoyed our evening. Performers were great and looking like they were having a lot of fun. It was my husbands second time and i could see going again.

  • Review 28 (2024-12-15 - Rating: 5)

Incredibly witty and a fun show. Cast was awesome and audience participation is hysterical.

  • Review 29 (2024-08-17 - Rating: 5)

Seriously such a fun night. Totally was worth it. Very funny, and audience engagement is encouraged!

  • Review 30 (2024-10-20 - Rating: 5)

I had a great time, I went down for my birthday and enjoyed it a lot. Ill definitely have to do it again.

  • Review 31 (2024-11-14 - Rating: 5)

Ive been to the one in Chicago - NYC keeps up the tradition of a PHENOMENAL and just straight up FUN show!

  • Review 32 (2024-02-05 - Rating: 5)

Got tickets to see the show pretty last minute. Probably the best last minute decision I’ve ever made. Chris, Christian, Sarah, and the rest of the team were all amazing. I don’t know much about Shakespeare but I don’t think it’s required at all. This show is so much fun, my face and head hurt from all the laughing. I would travel specifically to see these guys again! 100000/10.

  • Review 33 (2024-08-06 - Rating: 5)

Hilarious! I am so glad I got this as a present for my 21st birthday! Would go again with friends!

  • Review 34 (2017-05-01 - Rating: 5)

Went in expecting an interesting show. Then proceed to laugh my @$$ off!!! If you get the chance to, it is a must see. If they dont get a king and queen get your auctioning hat on - because there will be some bidding for the honor. Talent + Drinking = Go to THIS show!

  • Review 35 (2019-11-02 - Rating: 5)

Great little theater. Definitely not a show for the easily offended. Humorous for sure but 100% adult humor. Show is a mix of old Shakespeare, modern interpretation of Shakespeare and a lot of humor/jokes. Intimate setting so there really is no bad seat. Welcome drink was a nice touch too.

  • Review 36 (2024-12-28 - Rating: 5)

5/5 stars - What a great night! 2nd time coming and had a blast. 0/5 stars to the Karen sitting in front of us who wouldn’t stop talking and wouldn’t laugh/scolded the rest of the show as soon as there was a Trump impression. A true Lady Macbeth.

  • Review 37 (2024-11-10 - Rating: 5)

Five stars. You will laugh and enjoy these amazing actors. Even the Muppet!

  • Review 38 (2024-06-15 - Rating: 5)

Stunning theater-in-the-round performances. Well worth the money :)

  • Review 39 (2018-07-10 - Rating: 5)

Absolutely hilarious. From start to finish. If you cant make a show, schedule yourself for a late show!!! We watched Macbeth!

  • Review 40 (2024-07-13 - Rating: 5)

Funny skits with a little Shakespeare thrown in. Actors are very funny all the time.

  • Review 41 (2018-12-29 - Rating: 5)

Fun and exciting show in an intimate library setting. We cant wait to go back with friends!Would prefer second show vs first, as actor was just feeling it toward the end of our show, and said he was starting in second show. Wish we could stay for that!

  • Review 42 (2024-06-24 - Rating: 5)

This off-broadway show was recommended to me by a friend, and it far far exceeded all my expectations! It feels more personal, more engaging, more comedic and much more authentic than other plays in the city. Definitely recommend for both tourists and locals alike!

  • Review 43 (2020-01-22 - Rating: 5)

Love Macbeth and loved their performance of it. The actors were great. Just watch out for drunk girls behind you repeatedly spilling their drinks on you.

  • Review 44 (2024-09-19 - Rating: 5)

When visiting my brother, he suggested this, as he had been wanting to check it out for a while. I was hesitant, as I am not the play-watching type whatsoever. Do not let that deter you, it was an absolute blast. Granted, I was slightly buzzed before we arrived and the complimentary shot up on entering helped. I was laughing the whole time, as was the entire audience. I cannot recommend it enough.

  • Review 45 (2023-11-17 - Rating: 5)

Visited fall 2023A fantastic and entertaining show. These actors are professionals but put on a relaxed and wild show. Dont expect a quiet rehearsal or a formal recital. This show is more for people who are willing to have the script bent a little in favor of comedy. Its not family friendly for the most part, and it is better if everyone involved is drinking. Would certainly go again.

  • Review 46 (2018-03-08 - Rating: 5)

Fantastic show! So glad we went -- laughed my *** off! Highly recommended!

  • Review 47 (2024-03-17 - Rating: 5)

Such an unbelievably fun experience. There are so many live entertainment options in manhattan, but this is one that’s off the beaten path and is sure to have you laughing the entire time through. Highly suggest this for a fun night out with friends or a date night

  • Review 48 (2023-09-10 - Rating: 5)

A very entertaining experience - wildly unpredictable & unlike any live show I’ve seen. Michele Danna is blow-your-mind talented & Danielle Cohn is a queen of comedic timing - both women blew me away during the show. Would 100% recommend buying front row tickets for this show, you will not be disappointed!

  • Review 49 (2024-03-12 - Rating: 5)

A fun adult evening show! Spectacularly talented cast who can adapt the show to whoever and whatever circumstances present themselves from the nights audience. Definitely a participatory event! Hilarity and just a great time! Thank you!!!!

  • Review 50 (2017-05-15 - Rating: 5)

A unique and extremely entertaining night out. Recommended greatly. The cast improvises on the spot and incorporates the audience as well. A fantastic experience.

  • Review 51 (2024-03-06 - Rating: 4)

Fun show, lots of energy. Small theater, casual. Be prepared to drink and be ready to be part of the show, the cast is very interactive with the audience. Drinks are pricey.

  • Review 52 (2024-07-29 - Rating: 5)

We had a great time at the NY show! What a fun cast!

  • Review 53 (2024-03-23 - Rating: 5)

A perfect Night out! The cast was electric and funny on their feet(sometimes off as well). I would absolutely go back to see another version. My only complaint was that JT as Ross in MacBeth did not do the most obvious impression... David Schwimmer! Next time JT!

  • Review 54 (2024-02-07 - Rating: 5)

Drunk Shakespeare has to be one of the best shows I’ve seen on and off broadway. And I saw and loved Hamilton the same weekend, so those are big shoes to fill.Chris likes to look down on his audience, though. 😉😂Would totally recommend to anyone with or without knowledge of Shakespeare. It was just an all around amazing energy and a good time.Sarah really stole the show. 10/10 would follow her into the depths of our own tragedy.

  • Review 55 (2024-12-13 - Rating: 5)

Utterly fantastic! Didn’t really know a lot of what to expect going in, but was continuously surprised and entertained. My cheeks hurt from laughing so much. Would absolutely recommend to others!

  • Review 56 (2023-06-30 - Rating: 5)

An excellent spin on Shakespeare. E we didn’t expect to have so much fun. This was a whole vibe. Take your adults out for a few hrs of non stop laughs. You won’t be sorry

  • Review 57 (2024-11-11 - Rating: 5)

So fun, hilariously funny. Will definitely come back!

  • Review 58 (2019-03-31 - Rating: 5)

I had seen the ads for Drunk Shakespeare in the TodayTix app on my last few visits to NYC, and had tried unsuccessfully to talk my partner into going. 4th time is a charm! The show was outstanding! We saw Macbeth on the night we visited. The poor actor who had to skoll 4 whiskeys to start and then have further drinks throughout the play started to become a little worse for wear about halfway through (could just be great acting, how you would act sweat is beyond me!) but still remembered every line. There wasn’t an actor in the group who’s face and performance I can’t recall.I highly recommend Drunk Shakespeare and will visit every time I am in New York in future, and drag anyone I’m there with along as well!

  • Review 59 (2024-05-02 - Rating: 5)

I had the most incredible time last night at Drunk Shakespeare! The cast was so impressive, the management team was incredibly kind, and the food and drinks were amazing. It was such a special night and I’ll be recommending it to everyone I know!!

  • Review 60 (2023-07-28 - Rating: 4)

Really fun experience, but I know NOTHING about Shakespeare. It would have been really great if they had kind of given a synopsis for those of us who aren’t even slightly familiar with the play. Lots of laughs but we had no idea what was going on at all. They did give us free drinks when we walked in though!

  • Review 61 (2024-11-19 - Rating: 5)

Drunk Shakespeare is a raunchy romp. The welcome shots are a nice touch!

  • Review 62 (2024-06-03 - Rating: 5)

A ton of fun, a nimble cast that really knows their Shakespeare and how to improv up, down, and around the classics - cant wait to go again and introduce more friends to the shenanigans.

  • Review 63 (2024-12-21 - Rating: 5)

I have never been to New York or seen a play. I went to this show the night of 12/20/24 and the night before I had went and seem Chicago on Broadway. I can honestly say I enjoyed this show more than seeing Chicago on Broadway!!!!!

  • Review 64 (2024-04-07 - Rating: 5)

Loved our experience! Super funny. Excellent service. Interactive. Perfect lighting. Over a great time!Hannah Stout

  • Review 65 (2023-07-12 - Rating: 5)

I came here all the way in August and me and my partner absolutely loved it! Very funny and sooooo entertaining!I got a character named after me called Billy Big Balls and couldnt stop laughing everytime they mentioned his name and looked at me 😂.Recommend to those who are open minded and looking for a laugh and just an all round good time.

  • Review 66 (2023-07-07 - Rating: 5)

This was a great time. Lots of fun. I plan on coming back to see another version based on who drinks

  • Review 67 (2024-10-11 - Rating: 5)

    Love it!

  • Review 68 (2023-10-22 - Rating: 5)

A fabulously raucous rendition of The Bard’s work! Irreverent and unpredictable. Middle row of seats has “backrest” made of bookshelves. Other seats are bench/stool. Front row gets in on the action to some degree. Drinks were respectable. I’m sending theater friends here!

  • Review 69 (2024-06-13 - Rating: 5)

I love Macbeth (it happened to be that play the night we went), my husband loves comedy and improv. This checked the boxes for both of us. Excellent work by the cast!

  • Review 70 (2024-12-13 - Rating: 5)

Just the absolute best. Great time!

  • Review 71 (2023-04-23 - Rating: 5)

Super fun experience. Wasnt what we were expecting (a performance in a theater), and that was great. Its in a restaurant, so you can order snacks and drinks, chat with the actors before-hand, and youre right in the middle of the action. We loved it!

  • Review 72 (2017-06-21 - Rating: 5)

Liked the play! Though Im not very much into plays, but still enjoyed every moment of it. The actors are good and really funny.

  • Review 73 (2022-11-22 - Rating: 5)

I would gladly pay double to laugh for so long! Truly a unique experience with a talented group of actors. You could tell the audience was having as much fun as the folks on stage. I would go see this again for sure, and recommend that anyone looking for something different for a night out give this a try!

  • Review 74 (2024-05-28 - Rating: 5)

A very fun night for Shakespeare’s lovers and anyone who wants to laugh and enjoy a different night in the city of actors.

  • Review 75 (2023-11-22 - Rating: 5)

Drunk Shakespeare delivers an uproarious and unforgettable theatrical experience that seamlessly combines the timeless works of the Bard with a generous dose of humor and inebriation. The intimate setting, clever audience engagement, and the casts exceptional ability to improvise create a night of chaos and controlled madness. The shows irreverent humor and clever twists make it a must-see, whether youre a Shakespeare enthusiast or just looking for a night of crazy, unpredictable fun. Its a rollercoaster of laughter that leaves the audience cheering and clapping, ensuring a memorable and unique theatrical adventure. Cheers to Shakespeare, the merry way! Justin - U ROCK!! amazing!

  • Review 76 (2022-06-12 - Rating: 5)

This was a ton of fun! The actors were incredibly engaging and funny, their improv skills were fantastic and hysterical. Everyone had a great time and the interactive nature made the audience feel included. Take your friends and have a great time!

  • Review 77 (2022-04-01 - Rating: 5)

So so good !!!! My sister and I got upgraded to front row when we walked in and tbh would’ve had a fantastic time even in the back. The front row was even better! So funny - we laughed for more than half. The actors were spectacular, both in the sense of acting (felt like I was at a Shakespeare play) and were riotously funny. The drinks were delicious, and only made it more enjoyable. They picked on the audience in the best ways and their comedic timing was impeccable. Couldn’t recommend enough !!!!! Planning on going back the second we’re back in NY !

  • Review 78 (2019-01-20 - Rating: 5)

Oh I cant express enough how this needs to be a bucket list item on every thespian and or college educated persons radar. Try the scotch flight for $40!!! Johnny Walker blue is 1 of the 3 offerings included on it. At that price point ...... ENOUGH SAID! The players which includes audience members keeps the evening moving along with gut busting laughs with sprinkles of the Kings English spoken in iambic pentameter patterns. Nah.... I made that shyt up. The actors are in fact learned in Shakespearean works. Imagine Steinfeld meets Shakespeare on 125th St and they roll down to the East Village for drinks. Remember your drinking as it all unfolds before you. Mastery craftsmanship under the influence........ Not only did I attend, Im an unofficial official clandestine card carrying member.

  • Review 79 (2023-10-08 - Rating: 5)

My friends and I had a blast at this! The actors were interactive and the improv was great. The service was also outstanding. Would definitely go back.

  • Review 80 (2023-04-29 - Rating: 4)

Great experience. Seating wasnt what I expected. They just performed in the middle of a restaurant moving the chairs n tables to the side. One of the actresses was super snotty.

  • Review 81 (2023-06-20 - Rating: 5)

If youre not here for a full body review, scroll to the bottom. What more is there to say, Drunk + Shakespeare = Fun Time, do maths. No, but seriously, this is a wonderful night out with good drinks, good fun, and good actors commiting to their bits. There was at no point a moment where I was bored or having a bad time. The actors get up close and engage with the audience in a funny, sometimes rude (but still very funny) way. As for the actor that gets drunk, what can I say, a drunk Shakspeare nerd in a room full of audience members... it gets ridiculous in the most whimsical way possible. If youre lucky some naughty bits are shown.Drunk musings, and hysteria aside, I would say this crew of actors truly embodies a modern day Shakespearean persona in regards to wit, humor, and devotion to the craft. Even if youre not going to get drunk its still impressive to see how much these people know about Shakespeare, let alone the commitment they have, especially while inebriated, to recite Shakespearean verse with little to no struggle. 5/5 without a doubt.Go, you wont be disappointed!!

  • Review 82 (2024-11-09 - Rating: 5)

This is not your mother’s Shakespeare. Unapologetically irreverent and absolutely hysterical. I will be a repeat society member. Best Shakespeare entertainment!

  • Review 83 (2024-02-03 - Rating: 5)

Amazing show. Hilarious actors, a new experience every time. Would highly recommend to both Shakespeare lovers and newcomers.

I went to a drunk shakespeare performance on a sunday night and the energy in the room was everything! i had so much fun and my expectations were exceeded in every single way. get yourself a ticket, don’t take yourself too seriously, and bring some friends too

  • Review 85 (2024-02-19 - Rating: 5)

Excellent experience. It was purely a comedic experience. Great cast. Excellent jokes. I would go again.

  • Review 86 (2023-01-11 - Rating: 4)

This is my second time seeing drunk shakespeare, I came back and brought a different date because I enjoyed the first one so much. My date had a great time. Unfortunately it was the same content as the first one I had seen, (MacBeth) I lowkey wished for a different play to be enacted. The location is now in financial district. Walking in, it was on the first floor. It looked like they had just rearranged the usual restaurant and it had a good cozy feel. At times i couldnt hear everything being said at the other end though.

  • Review 87 (2024-08-05 - Rating: 5)

Very intimate, immersive performance. All the actors are so talented. Also good value compared to other entertainment venues in NYC. There’s no food and drink minimum and you even get a complimentary shot on the way in. You’d have to be somewhat familiar with Shakespeare and American culture/politics to enjoy it though.

  • Review 88 (2021-07-03 - Rating: 5)

Last night was the third times friends and I have attended this show, and we LOVE IT!!!! There seems to be genuine affection and camaraderie among the actors, and they are each and every one BRILLIANT. They seem to be having as much fun as their audience is which makes it all even better!

  • Review 89 (2023-12-31 - Rating: 5)

Very funny ad lib actors. They keep you involved without embarrassing or picking on anyone. Right down the middle political humor, while doing Shakespeare bits. Funny, original and refreshing!

I had a blast! I went with my two roommates, and the three of us have a keen appreciation for both theater and drinking, and we were delighted to get to watch talented actors have a great time with the Bards material and also tequila shots. Without giving anything else away, I recommend that if this sounds at all interesting to you, GO! You wont be disappointed.

  • Review 93 (2023-08-01 - Rating: 5)

This. Was. AWESOME! Randomly saw an as for it on Facebook, and I’m so glad I did. I had a smile on my face practically the entire time. Highly recommend as a hidden gem in NYC (that is, if you like drinking, comedy, Shakespeare, and don’t mind a little raunchiness 😉)

  • Review 94 (2023-01-26 - Rating: 5)

Offered a free shot on arrival and a coat check service. The area was clean and aesthetic. The actors were hilarious and interacted with the audience well, and amazing night and would go again, highly recommended.

  • Review 95 (2024-01-07 - Rating: 5)

This review is specifically for Justin Minchow, he was the Macbeth when I saw the show. Absolute legend of a man. I’d never laughed that hard before or since. I sure hope he sticks around for a long time so that people can experience the joy he brought me.

  • Review 96 (2022-05-23 - Rating: 5)

This show was so entertaining, and so funny, that we failed to get pictures! From the moment we were greeted for seating, the silliness began. The actors were classically brilliant, and improvisationally unbelievably talented. This was quite possibly the funniest show Ive ever been to.

  • Review 97 (2018-06-15 - Rating: 5)

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. So worth it. I dont think I stopped laughing once throughout the night, the cast is so warm and full of energy. You cant help but love it. Humor can sometimes be a little crude so beware if thats not your cup of tea (would still recommend for a fun night).

  • Review 98 (2024-11-17 - Rating: 5)

Definitely worth going! The troupe is hilarious!

  • Review 99 (2024-12-31 - Rating: 5)

I didn’t know what to expect but I was blown away!

  • Review 100 (2023-02-20 - Rating: 5)

Tons of fun! Intimate setting and chances for audience participation put you right in the action. The players use an effective combination of original dialogue and snarky paraphrasing to get the audience through all 5 acts of the play without dragging out the plot.

  • Review 101 (2023-02-26 - Rating: 5)

Great experience. The location was at a restaurant, which at first felt a little awkward but inevitably led to a very intimate show. The actors were great, and my group had a blast.

  • Review 102 (2020-03-11 - Rating: 5)

Absolute hilarious show! I took my boyfriend, who knows next to nothing about Shakespeare and even he had a great time! I love how intimate the venue was and how interactive the actors were with us before and during the show. I cant wait to go again!!

  • Review 103 (2019-01-13 - Rating: 5)

It was hilarious. I goofed buying the tickets and the guy at the door was very nice. I like it how it was a mixture of fun and serious. Some of the actor’s monologues was impressive. It is crude but hilarious. My husband and I both enjoyed it and actually said we wanted to see it again.

  • Review 104 (2024-08-27 - Rating: 5)

Performance was fun and audience played along. I dont drink and it was still an enjoyable evening. All the actors were marvelous.

  • Review 105 (2017-04-12 - Rating: 5)

A great New York experience! Actors and bartenders were very talented and the price was just right for the small show. Definitely a must see, and if you have the chance, go to the late show so you can stay after and hang with the crowd!

  • Review 106 (2017-11-21 - Rating: 5)

Having seen the show twice, I can definitely say its worth seeing. There is plenty of interaction with the cast throughout the show to keep things lovely, as well an overall charismatic cast. Absolutely hilarious!

  • Review 107 (2024-07-28 - Rating: 5)

Incredible show! Highly, highly recommended. A hilarious and fun evening, perfect for a night out in NYC for locals and tourists alike.

  • Review 108 (2021-11-07 - Rating: 5)

This show is a lot of fun. The actors are great, not just funny and lively, but also obviously very talented. I mean, that one dude fully nailed Hamlet’s monologue after drinking a cup full of random bottoms of drinks people left behind

  • Review 109 (2016-12-28 - Rating: 5)

All I can say is that if you have not been to see Drunk Shakespeare, you are missing the boat. 1st, you will lose about 10 pounds from all the laughter they produce. The entire 5 person team are all welcoming and nice. Plus, whichever cast has the opportunity to get drunk is the luckieat. They must all have a serious alcohol tolerance! This is quite an entertaining event. I only heard of it 1 week prior, and it sounded interesting and I was not in the least disappointed. You do have options to purchase drinks and some snack foods. There is some cursing if you dont like it, deal with it. It matches the venue perfectly and is hilarious at te moments they use them. I am looking forward to going to this event many more times with different friends!!I only wish I had asked them for names to properly give them the credit deserved. I cant wait to go again, and again!!

  • Review 110 (2018-07-02 - Rating: 5)

Had such an awesome time! The actors are very talented and naturally funny. Not only do they perform Shakespeare in an engaging way but it’s like improv and they make jokes throughout that flow with the script. Also, the audience engagement and participation makes it feel that much more fun.

  • Review 111 (2019-02-16 - Rating: 5)

Ive been to the show 3 times and definitely going back for more. The cast and crew is always changing things up, always just as funny and great. Get there in time for the best seats, Ive almost always been the last to be seated but always fully enjoyed.

  • Review 112 (2023-07-03 - Rating: 5)

This was amazing! It was so much fun and the actors were both hilarious and really know their Shakespeare. I’m so glad that we included this in our NYC weekend. Thank you!!!

  • Review 113 (2016-10-08 - Rating: 5)

Loved every minute of it especially the free shot with purchase , the cast was magnificent , exuberant and felt like your best friends from college .I loved the setting and i wish i could spend a few days in that library. The performance was outstanding and well delivered , i want to see them again sometime.

  • Review 114 (2020-03-09 - Rating: 5)

This was one of the more incredible shows/improvs/comedy experiences we have ever been to. It was tempting to buy tickets to another show since we were only in town for the weekend! Highly recommend, make sure to get reservations as its packed!

  • Review 115 (2023-05-04 - Rating: 5)

Great, as always! Hysterically funny (and quite ribald as well as occasionally gross antics, like drinking/ eating congealed matter). Very intimate setting. Audience interaction.

  • Review 116 (2019-08-15 - Rating: 5)

From the moment you walk in, the company of actors help make you feel truly welcomed and comfortable to laugh along at all the ridiculousness that is to come. Classic stories are told in a way that gives honor and respect to the original material while also bringing modern humor that will only help you appreciate Shakespeare even more.It goes with out saying how incredibly talented these actors are but to give them the credit they deserve, their talent is surpassed only by the passion they have for their art, which can seen every moment they take the stage. My husband and I went on our honeymoon. After seeing several heavy hearted shows (which have their time and place) we just wanted a night of something fun and affordable and we got more than we couldve wanted.Just go! Its a great time and you wont regret it. Well be back for sure :)

  • Review 117 (2022-06-12 - Rating: 5)

I loved the play the actors are awesome. Great production and audience interaction. The best play to see on broadway. It is a fun play to see the actors are great. Best time to see the play is at night more fun and better experience. It is a play worth seeing more than once. The only broadway show that is very entertaining and fun to see.

  • Review 118 (2024-07-01 - Rating: 5)

This was seriously so so so funny and absolutely worth it. I have been wanting to see Drunk Shakespeare for years now and I finally went tonight and it was worth the hype and keeping on my list of things to-do. The show is completely authentic and hilarious. More than that, every single actor is so impressive! The sober ones, the drunk one, everyone kept the story moving forward. I was cracking up the entire time. Absolutely see this show if youre in town.

  • Review 119 (2020-02-29 - Rating: 5)

Show was hilarious, raunchy, true to the source, and all-around enjoyable. Doesnt require much audience participation, but be prepared to be called out!Entrance and lobby area could use some work. Its tiny, incredibly crowded, and has poor signage. Wasnt sure we were in the right place for a while. All easily fixable, though, and the show is worth it!

  • Review 120 (2018-11-26 - Rating: 5)

Always a super great time! Witty & funny definitely a must see! Ive taken several friends to see it and always awesome!

  • Review 121 (2019-09-16 - Rating: 5)

Witty, funny and unforgettable! This was one of the best off-Broadway shows I have been to, and although some serious people may frown at it, I actually loved how they did a tongue-in-cheek Macbeth! I would love to go again to see if the performance is in fact different every time! One small warning: dont worry about what ticket category you buy. It is a small venue, and though we bought the most expensive ones, but ended up sitting in a spot similar to other cheaper tickets.

  • Review 122 (2023-07-30 - Rating: 5)

I’d give it 10 stars if I could. Amazing show, wonderful cast. A great night and an absolute STEAL for the price!

  • Review 123 (2024-06-30 - Rating: 5)

Hilarious. Took some friends visiting from out of town and we had a blast! Great show, super talented cast of actors, fun and interactive. I didn’t drink and still had a wonderful time. Def gonna have drinks next time! Will be returning. Bravo/a!

  • Review 124 (2019-11-04 - Rating: 5)

One of the best things we did wile visiting NYC. The performers are down to earth and absolutely hilarious, even before the show starts. The drinks are pricey, especially if you buy from the bar before the show begins, but all worth it for the performance.

  • Review 125 (2017-04-27 - Rating: 5)

Very entertaining show with great audience participation. You are encouraged to drink, and be ready to pay bar prices. We ended up spending more on the drinks than the tickets. Still totally worth it!

  • Review 126 (2017-11-17 - Rating: 5)

If you’re teetering on the fence of whether or not to go, GO! You will laugh and have an unforgettable time with whoever you may drag along with you - and they will thank you for it! Our play was Macbeth and my entire team (work outing) left laughing and pleased as punch after the curtain closed. All the credit goes to the actors and the concept behind the show, pure brilliance! I will undoubtedly come back for more. Thanks for a great night guys!

  • Review 127 (2019-04-14 - Rating: 5)

This was one of the most enjoyable, spontaneous experiences I had in New York. My girlfriend and I had heard about Drunk Shakespeare and we decided to go after missing out on rush tickets from other shows. This was absolutely one of the best things that happened to us on our trip.Getting the tickets is easy enough by going through the website, but its best to get them in the morning of at the latest. When we got there, we knew we were in for a treat when one of the the actors said it was his 900th show. What followed was an amazingly, irreverent performance of Shakespeare filled with hilarious improv, amazing cast chemistry, and thoroughly enjoyable audience participation. It was a great time and we loved every minute of it!

  • Review 128 (2017-06-19 - Rating: 5)

Hilarious show! Small audience and talented actors/actresses. Highly recommended

  • Review 129 (2019-01-20 - Rating: 5)

Just attend and keep drinking otherwise youll be left out of the fun happening in real time. The plot unfolds and nobody is aware as the audience, and actors have all given into the drunken palsy with grandness in speech and fanciful play. Awesome experience!!!!!!!

  • Review 130 (2021-08-16 - Rating: 4)

I thought the performance was really funny and well put together. I thought the drinks were a bit pricey for what they gave you. So, outside of the drink prices, I think this is a fun activity for a night out in the town.

  • Review 131 (2018-04-29 - Rating: 5)

One of the best shows in NYC that is off broadway. For folks who do not really know Shakespeare, like myself, it was thoroughly entertaining. All the actors were really into their roles and brought a ton of energy into the show. The engagement with the audience and the tightness of the venue made it feel very homey without being too large.Drinks were very reasonably priced and overall a true 5/5 rating. I would pick this over a broadway. Sitting stage-side is great, but seating all around is just as good since the venue is extremely tight.

  • Review 132 (2024-08-02 - Rating: 5)

BEST way to watch a Shakespeare play. I laughed from beginning to end!! Recommend 100%!!!

  • Review 133 (2018-04-14 - Rating: 5)

Phenomenal. A bunch of theater grads performing a very well-written, semi-improvisational drunk retelling of Shakespeare. The target audience seemed to be twenty and thirty-somethings who enjoy an interactive, rowdy, and witty comedy show. The crass, but clever, humor was right up my alley; I thought it was just perfect.

  • Review 134 (2024-07-06 - Rating: 5)

Incredible show. Far better experience than any musical or show I’ve been to. 100% will come back when I’m in town.

  • Review 135 (2018-07-15 - Rating: 5)

This was the most fun Ive had in awhile. The venue is intimate. The show is wonderfully irreverent. The table service is efficient and the drinks are solid. The actors are talented and great improvisors. Loved it.

  • Review 136 (2021-07-27 - Rating: 5)

I wasn’t sure if this would be a silly tourist trap or not… but once we arrived I didn’t care. It was goofy, fun, silly, and a laugh-out-loud experience. Great for an evening when you want to have a good time and just laugh.

  • Review 137 (2024-06-18 - Rating: 5)

So much fun. Easy way to see theater in a high energy, low stakes, and close knit environment. As someone who loves Shakespeare, I wish they did more plays than Macbeth, but it was very fun to engage in the bard in thoroughly modern (and in many ways more historically traditional) way.

  • Review 138 (2019-07-22 - Rating: 5)

King for a day. This was an amazing experience which I highly recommend.

  • Review 139 (2024-08-03 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 140 (2019-02-03 - Rating: 5)

What a great show. The cast was amazing. So funny. We highly recommend seeing this show even if you don’t love Shakespeare. Come ready to laugh just don’t stay on your phone the whole show! All hail queen Deb. F yeah #girl on phone

  • Review 141 (2015-05-09 - Rating: 5)

Drunk Shakespeare was the best Friday night Ive had in NYC. The cast was amazing - hilarious, fun, and talented, the drinks were delicious and strong, and the entire experience was so interactive and welcoming. I highly, highly recommend! :)

  • Review 142 (2019-01-26 - Rating: 5)

Great Improv with good crowd interaction. The actors knew the material and were able to add in modern references while keeping the plot. Intimate setting with every seat essentially on stage.

  • Review 143 (2024-10-19 - Rating: 5)

Hysterical, insane and one of the most glorious times Ive ever had

  • Review 144 (2019-10-04 - Rating: 5)

Best show on Broadway. Filled with laughs all the way through. The actors are truly excellent, the staging is incredible and the crowd involvement is nothing like youve ever experienced before.

  • Review 145 (2018-11-05 - Rating: 5)

Super fun night of Shakespeare and shenanigans! The actors are top notch and really engaging with the audience. Check it out!

  • Review 146 (2017-11-25 - Rating: 4)

This was funny. If youre looking for dramatic Shakespeare or Broadway, pay the $$$$$ and go see a show on Broadway or the Royal Shakespeare Company. Looking for a good time and some laughs, give this play a shot. No its not true Shakespeare, but it doesnt pretend to be. It is just enjoyable fun, with some Shakespeare thrown in. You dont like cursing/swearing? Dont get contemporary humor? Cant stand people mocking The BARD? Dont waste your money here. But if you can take a joke and can sit for 90 minutes and laugh, spend a few hours with the Drunk Shakespeare Society.

  • Review 147 (2019-10-16 - Rating: 5)

An absolute blast. I have not laughed so hard in yearssss. This place was just the best. Crowd interaction was fun, the cast was amazing. I’m going again, I’m going again!

  • Review 148 (2024-06-23 - Rating: 5)

Such a great show! We laughed the whole time. They did a great job of incorporating the audience and everything is up close and right next to you. All the actors were hysterical. We had a great time!

  • Review 149 (2016-04-02 - Rating: 4)

Despite me being a native New Yorker, I can count with one hand the times that I have attended an on and off Broadway performance. For the most part, these venues are much too close to Times Square, and at the same time, they are typically very pricey. Drunk Shakespeare does not closely fall into these categories and yet, it is plenty of fun! The actors hilariously incorporate diverse contemporary themes into their performance, while interacting continuously with the crowd and providing the audience with opportunities to participate. Its drama, comedy and occasionally, a dance party!

  • Review 150 (2020-01-23 - Rating: 5)

Tons of fun and particularly affordable. Really enjoyed the show and the players. The room aesthetic was cool and the players made the room feel involved in the outcome and progress of the show.

  • Review 151 (2019-12-31 - Rating: 5)

The actors are wonderful and very talented. The show was so entertaining and engaged the audience. Very fun atmosphere and had a wonderful time!

  • Review 152 (2023-04-21 - Rating: 5)

Loud funny and unique, a great experience! Would highly recommend if you want to have a good time.

  • Review 153 (2017-05-29 - Rating: 4)

We saw Macbeth when I went with my friend. The actors were amazing, especially given the limited space they have to work. My only complaint is that the bar is overpriced and the chairs are uncomfortable if you are not young and fit. Otherwise cant wait to go again.

  • Review 154 (2019-03-27 - Rating: 5)

We had a great time, definitely a must-see!

  • Review 155 (2019-08-12 - Rating: 5)

You thought you knew Shakespeare. You don’t really until you’ve seen it being performed by a drunk actor, and a cast seamlessly going between Shakespearean dialogue and modern conversation. Have a drink and a laugh!

  • Review 156 (2019-05-27 - Rating: 5)

One actor slams a few drinks, the others try to keep the show on track as they take a stab at something from the Bard’s repertoire. If you’re looking for something fun and different to do in New York (or Chicago for that matter) I strongly recommend Drunk Shakespeare! I don’t know Macbeth as well as I know some of Shakespeare’s works, and after tonight, I don’t know it much better, but it was certainly the most hilarious production I’ll ever see.

  • Review 157 (2024-02-18 - Rating: 5)

Such a GOOD time!!! definitely coming back :)

  • Review 158 (2020-01-19 - Rating: 5)

I laughed for 90 minutes straight. Really fun group of performers. Brought a date here and it was a major hit. The alcohol is real and not a gimmick. The chosen one must have had the equivalent of 7 shots over 90 minutes. Drinks and cocktails served to your seat number and very efficient. Id go back here in a heartbeat.

  • Review 159 (2024-06-09 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 162 (2019-02-21 - Rating: 5)

These guys were very funny. I would go again especially since they have different stories each time. Beer prices are about consistent with NYC pricing 6-9 dollars I believe.

  • Review 163 (2019-12-29 - Rating: 5)
