Don’t Tell Mama is such a gem! The staff here are incredibly talented—not only do they mix a mean cocktail, but they all have stunning voices and tons of charisma. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making you feel like you’re at a private show with friends. Cocktails were delicious and clearly made with care. Its the perfect spot for a unique night out, blending live music and great drinks. Can’t recommend it enough!

I cannot rate this bar high enough.Absolutely sublime, incredible atmosphere, all the staff were fantastic, incredibly and gob smacking talented and a perfect way to spend a night.Bring some.cash for tipping, they all.deserve it.I would go back in a heartbeat when next in New York.In a way think Ellens diner but as a bar, more intimate and personalised.Thank you for such a magical night

This is a great place that is really lots of fun to visit. The crowd is pretty much mid-40s and up, a mixture of straight and gay. Its a piano bar sing-along kind of atmosphere. It can get extremely crowded so go early and expect to be tightly seated. Many of the staff carry microphones and sing while they are mixing drinks, wringing up checks, making change and waiting on tables. I was amazed at how they could do all that and still sing the lyrics to all these songs without messing up. Its such a fun place! I ordered the mama Martini which was really good and since it was late at night I just had an appetizer of the prosciutto Croquettes which are fabulous. Prices are in range with what you would expect in New York City and considering you get entertainment, well thats a pretty darn good deal. I had a fantastic time and even though I went alone I quickly made friends that I hope to see there again soon. I will be back! If you havent been to dont tell Mama this is one of the best and funnest speakeasies in Manhattan. Check it out!

Great place to listen to some fun singing and piano. Very intimate setting. So if you are claustrophobic, dont be surprised when the person next to you is literally right next to you. But thats Manhattan for you. Ultimately always fun!

We had two consecutive nights out here with friends a couple of weeks ago. What a wonderful place. My husband and I love Piano Man and we wanted a bar just like the video (obvs less smoke!) and we were thrilled the Saturday night when it was played.Atmosphere is absolutely electric, the staff are all so talented, friendly and attentive. If I ever visit New York again this will definitely be on my list. I have already sent the website link to two friends visiting soon.Keep doing what you’re doing Don’t Tell Mama, memories from our nights there are etched on my mind forever.

We had such a fun time at Dont Tell Mama. The staff is amazing and so talented! The drinks we fantastic and dessert were delicious! So very glad that we made our way to this fun nightspot. Thanks for a great evening celebrating my husbands bday.

  • Review 7 (2023-05-20 - Rating: 5)

Piano bar as interactive entertainment, with the pianist -- a great entertainer on his own -- roping in waitstaff and guests to sing sets and requests, usually with the house singing along on the choruses. Terrific fun.We didnt try any food, but were happy to fulfill the two drink minimum. Drink consistency between rounds was a bit off, but it was still all good.Lots of talent, lots of fun, a wonderful way to wrap the evening after a good dinner elsewhere. Well definitely be back.

  • Review 8 (2024-01-30 - Rating: 5)

I love the cabaret atmosphere of DTM! It feels like real NYC. I just had chips and guacamole with a beer but it was delicious. It has a cozy theatre crowd atmosphere in the heart of the theatre district and restaurant row.

  • Review 9 (2022-08-05 - Rating: 5)

We walked past this establishment the day before and remembered it having a piano bar so decided to stop in for some drinks. Its a quaint and more intimate piano bar, they have a full service bar with some limitations towards selection. We went during happy hour, there was no table service at the time but they did have someone playing the piano and singing on stage. It was live music, the musician was performing well so we decided to stay.Apparently this establishment also houses a restaurant which is connected to the bar. Towards the end of happy hour we had to cash out since new staff and a new music act was coming for the rest of the night. We were curious about the new music act so decided to stay longer. All of a sudden there were new bartenders and servers, a new piano player and the bar literally started filling up.Once the sound checks were complete the live music started again, but this time all of the staff working in the bar were part of the act and all of them could sing phenomenally. They took requests for songs to perform and we gave them some difficult ones, but they performed everything perfectly. I could not believe the talent in this place, I thought I was sitting in the middle of a broadway show. These performers literally sang every song while making and serving drinks to the audience. Their voices were absolutely amazing, I couldnt get enough. The drinks are on the higher end of the price range but they entertainment is worth it. We will be coming back here again!Cheers!

What a fantastic night out. Started with dinner on patio at Kitchen 46 (great price, taste & portions) before moving to the intimate piano bar.Great night throughout the night especially Laura making cocktails & blasting out the diva songs, accompanied ably by Jerry on piano who is a great performer on his own as well. The bar was full from 9-11.30 with people coming & going but constant was great entertainment & service.Other singers who are also bar/wait staff were also very good.Get there!

  • Review 11 (2024-03-16 - Rating: 4)

The singers and their songs were great!! Food was good. Service very cordial. Cons: very tight sitting space. Around $50 for two non-al drinks and a small snack. Recommended

  • Review 12 (2024-10-18 - Rating: 5)

This is such a fun night spot. We came here with friends who are fellow piano bar lovers. We were not disappointed. We had so much fun we ended up staying at longer than we planned.

  • Review 13 (2024-09-21 - Rating: 5)

I had some qualms about trying this place due the occasional negative reviews, but the piano bar section is absolutely fantastic. There is a pianist who plays live music and sings, but all the bartenders join in and they have such amazing voices. It’s a shamelessly entertaining time if you go here to listen and sing along to great singers. It’s too loud to hold any kind of conversation though, so I wouldn’t come here if you’re just looking for background music.

  • Review 14 (2024-10-23 - Rating: 5)

Wooow what a place. What a cool place. Great music.. the bartenders and the waitress sing with him and they are stunning. Joe played the piano and is funny and a great singer. The whole crowd flows..If u are in n.y.. you must go there

  • Review 15 (2024-05-08 - Rating: 5)

This place is a blast. Chill pre 9pm piano, then the scene kicks it up a notch to singing staff and even the patrons.

  • Review 16 (2024-02-02 - Rating: 5)

My wife only had drinks here before and after dinner. Great place, great Bartender Anna who can also sing amazingly. She and the piano player were trading off songs. They were phenomenal. Great place for drinks and light meals.Make this a must stop place when youre in NYC.

  • Review 17 (2024-12-07 - Rating: 5)

Excellent piano bar.Vibrant and a great place to hang. Crowds were fun and into it.

  • Review 18 (2024-08-25 - Rating: 5)

Great post theatre live music and sing along with exceptional talent. Enjoy a cocktail and amazing performances

  • Review 19 (2024-03-26 - Rating: 5)

Came in here on the recommendation of someone who had visited the city previously and we weren’t disappointed!Nick, the barman was brilliant. The drinks he made were tasty and well worth the money too. Slightly pricey, but when the service is as good as that, you don’t mind paying it.He was interested in what we had to say and asked us questions on the UK (where we’re from) and made us feel right at home!

  • Review 20 (2024-06-14 - Rating: 5)

Amazing place to stop in for a drink and/or a bite to eat. The staff is friendly & the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. I had the eggplant & andouille sausage & it was so good that I ordered a second serving (I had skipped lunch, so was extra hungry). The Sexy Mama drink was a nice treat to end a day of lots of sightseeing (walking).

  • Review 21 (2024-10-06 - Rating: 5)

Such an absolutely fun place to be on a Saturday night!! We loved all the singing of very talented people!!

  • Review 22 (2024-06-23 - Rating: 5)

Im very embarrassed because I got very drunk while I was at this place and sang with the piano song and accidentally went to the bathroom in the womens room and then a lady came in and saw me and we went and had drinks and I think Im in love so I texted my familys group chat... And thats when I realized Id broken the one rule. I Told Mama.

  • Review 23 (2024-12-16 - Rating: 4)

Amazing atmosphere with incredible talent! The service was hit or miss with an over expectation on tipping. Drinks were strong in a not so great way. Didn’t order any food so can’t comment on the food. We came early enough and stayed in the front bar and isn’t have to pay the cover charge which helped but was still an expensive night for a fun performance. Would definitely go back!

  • Review 24 (2024-10-07 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 25 (2024-09-12 - Rating: 5)

An institution in the nyc cabaret world. Worth a visit, any time and any day of the week. Prices a bit steep and cash only.

  • Review 26 (2024-05-11 - Rating: 5)

Googled piano bar for a night cap at about 2 am. What I got was much more than I expected. All the employees are excellent singers and they put on a show that I will never forget. See it to believe it, and tip them all very well.

  • Review 27 (2024-11-17 - Rating: 5)

So much fun so many talented singers a great evening out.

  • Review 28 (2023-12-05 - Rating: 5)

Very small piano bar. It was packed at the time we went but managed to snag two seats at the bar. We had a great time, everyone sang along and basically all the employees could sing! I mean they had great voices. We only had drinks.

  • Review 29 (2024-12-12 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 30 (2023-11-18 - Rating: 5)

Ah! I had SO much fun there this past week. I went on Tuesday night with a friend and it was such a cool vibe. This guy Nick did the best John Travolta from Grease ever. (And he was just really nice service wise, which is always a plus in the city) Even if you dont do musical theater piano bars are a blast and this spot is a must!*Bonus tip, the fries are really good

  • Review 31 (2024-12-07 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 32 (2024-11-30 - Rating: 5)

The absolute BEST. A wonderful atmosphere. Be prepared to be crammed into the bar, but it’s worth it and contributes to everyone having a great time listening to the incredible talent. I had the “.... the latte boy” and it was wonderful.A must-do if you love broadway

What a cool place! We came on a Monday night and Randy, our bartender, was definitely a highlight. He made amazing drinks, sang incredibly, and we all just adored him. Im honestly jealous of the locals because if I lived in New York, Id come here all the time. Next time Im in the city, this is a must!

  • Review 41 (2022-10-29 - Rating: 5)

Fifteen years since our last visit and still great fun. The staff are so talented - singing, serving, staying upbeat and friendly. We were fortunate enough to be at the bar and served by the fabulous Joseph. I reckon he had the best voice too - would have loved it if he had more solos. Drinks fairly priced too.

  • Review 42 (2022-06-06 - Rating: 5)

From the moment I walked in this place, I was so moved by how the pianist and the bartenders are fantastic musicians.I was also super surprised by how perfectly bartenders sing while they’re making cocktails, cleaning, doing the bartender work!!Also drink is really good too.I just asked something sweet and couple of my favorite and one bartender came up with super delicious drink.

  • Review 43 (2023-12-03 - Rating: 5)

We spent a fantastic couple of hours in this place where the very tallented staff serve drinks whilst performing a wide range of familliar songs. You can get bar snacks here too. The atmosphere is tremendous.

  • Review 59 (2023-11-16 - Rating: 5)

Great stop for some after dinner fun and a great way to end the day! Kudos to Paddy and the singing bartenders - awesome and so talented. Will be back.

  • Review 60 (2018-11-05 - Rating: 4)

Really quite a lot of fun! Two-drink minimum but the drinks are good. They really blast the music which seems unnecessary since its the kind of place where you would both listen to the entertainers and chat with your friends.. I was glad I brought ear plugs.

  • Review 61 (2024-12-02 - Rating: 5)

1st time and it was AMAZING!! Barmaids voice is abnormal, so BEAUTIFUL!!

  • Review 62 (2019-05-19 - Rating: 5)

OMG, we had such a great time!! They let my 12 year old nephew in. It is the one piano bar I found that will allow children in. They advise children to leave by 10pm, when the lyrics get really racy. I just loved it, and the 12 year old loved it and I think he will never forget it. This is the kind of experience that can make a gay kid realize that hes not alone, or help a young person realize that his or her outrageous sensibilities are shared by many. The chocolate cake was great, too.

  • Review 63 (2021-09-28 - Rating: 5)

Simply the best secret in NYC. Incredible singers, drinks and just fun! Get there early or run for your show so you get a table. It’s a true piano bar but the food is surprisingly good. I like the sweet potato fries.

  • Review 64 (2018-09-03 - Rating: 5)

A good find in the theater district. The atmosphere and staff were very nice. For my main course, I had Eggplant Ravioli which I was looking forward to since I had never had it before. For dessert, I had an excellent slice of Lemon Meringue Pie in which the meringue and custard were evenly in proportion!

  • Review 65 (2023-11-20 - Rating: 5)

Great place for drinks and entertainment. Super funny, friendly and talented staff. Best piano bar in NYC. Like being at a broadway show in a bar.

  • Review 66 (2023-11-16 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 67 (2024-12-14 - Rating: 5)

So much fun. Were visiting from Wisconsin and laughed until we cried.

  • Review 68 (2024-11-02 - Rating: 4)

Went to the piano bar on a Friday night and caught the post Broadway wave, so admittedly not a fair assessment, but it was a long wait to sit in a corner, not be able to see the piano, and sit staring at empty glasses.Well definitely be back at a less crazy time, but wont rush to do it.

  • Review 69 (2018-05-27 - Rating: 4)

Food was great. Restaurant is too small.

  • Review 70 (2018-07-09 - Rating: 4)

Awesome venue, super friendly and supportive staff. My friend booked this space for her one woman show and it was a great experience. I ended up eating two meals in their restaurant and the food was decent. Menu provides a good selection such that people with a variety of dietary preferences can still find a suitable meal.

  • Review 71 (2022-03-08 - Rating: 5)

Feel so lucky to have joined on a Sunday evening on my last night in town, this amazingly talented group of musicians! Truly as amazing as attending Broadway musical ~ except instead you up close and feel so special to be included. And it is a full show, first on piano Aaron, a young man singing show tunes, then later Nate Buccieri opened with more beautiful music with ability to do anything both singing or playing piano! Then Tara who has been serving guests joins and brings house down with her beautiful voice! Both Tara and Nate could play leads in Phantom and I wondered if they do. But, finally both gentlemen attending bar join in with such talent and warmth ~ I realize it’s an entire show with entire cast and what a fun surprise! I didn’t go to show this visit to NYC from West coast but actually experienced the most moving and joyous evening I’ve ever had in NYC. Thank you

  • Review 72 (2023-08-18 - Rating: 5)

The concept of a piano bar with interactive sing-alongs is already exciting, but Don’t tell Mama took it to a whole new level. The atmosphere was electric, and the talented bartenders, who also doubled as singers, added an extra layer of magic to the evening. Their voices were nothing short of extraordinary, and their ability to engage the audience and get everyone singing along was simply remarkable.

  • Review 73 (2020-02-09 - Rating: 5)

(Visited July 2019)Great spot and great piano bar! The cocktails were amazing, staff a delight and the pianist was fantastic all night! Thoroughly recommend if you are in town 1 evening!

  • Review 74 (2024-09-03 - Rating: 4)

The set up is great! The staff was on point! The cash only, tax on gratuity and prices on food & drink were too high.

  • Review 75 (2015-07-03 - Rating: 5)

WARNING drinks cost are not as advertised! Be sure to ask server price of the drink you order. Music is decent, and when it gets busy around 930,it gets quite fun. The singers are the servers. Good time but dont expect cheap drinks.

  • Review 81 (2024-04-29 - Rating: 5)

A wonderful midtown piano bar and cabaret lounge. Can find super talent on any given evening

  • Review 82 (2024-10-15 - Rating: 5)

Absolutely loved the piano and the singing. Had loads of fun. Drinks priced ok, but I cant say the food looked overly appealing. The pricing for for a bowl of nuts is a joke. We all know what that stuff really costs. Id rather pay $20 cover fee than be given an excuse of a bowl of nuts. Having said all that - will definitely go back for the vibe, drink and fun 😊 just being honest

  • Review 83 (2018-02-13 - Rating: 5)

Its in the most touristy part of Manhattan. It looks like a dive. But it is one of the best values in town. No cover charge and reasonably priced drinks served by performers. The music is continuous, the performers are sometimes amazing and the crowd is adult. Hidden Gem.

  • Review 84 (2024-06-23 - Rating: 5)

I have been heree 3 times already! And will definitely keep going because it feels like if you get together with a bunch of happy friends from College and suddenly we are all singing in one accord with so much passion and love! Music is an amazing language that will always brings us together when we are up for the trip. Highly recommend this place, all the servers have amazing voices! You can also tell it feels as an after party with the Broadway show singers. However name you would like to give it, you will only find that out after you go. Please dont miss this place if you are visiting, or ad live in the City.(Good times never feels so good🎵🎶♥️👌)

  • Review 87 (2013-08-13 - Rating: 5)

More than a good piano bar, I love Broadway tunes. Dont Tell Mama offers the tunes, some jokes, and a medley from any Broadway show you can conceive. My first visit, although Id been wanting the opportunity to drop in since I moved to Hells Kitchen, was for a birthday cocktail with friends. Dont Tell Mama was really the perfect venue. Our service was continuous and good, the voices enjoyable, and intimate space wasnt cramped.Although a piano bar isnt unique to New York, this little spot is. Its a must visit if youre in town for a show.

  • Review 88 (2024-12-29 - Rating: 5)

    Love love love this place.

  • Review 89 (2018-03-11 - Rating: 4)

Met for dinner, sat in piano bar. Nice atmosphere, feels like a small place. My dinner mates indicated that it was a really nice pour read: very generous with the wine. Food was good. We had the penne a la vodka, salmon, short ribs, guacamole, all were good. It is not a reasonable place. $12 for the guac was way over priced. $19 for penne, again, way over priced. Entrees were between $18 and $29. Nice experience but may look for something more reasonable.

The place is small and fun but they have a sign that says, “No Dancing Allowed”. I thought it was a joke because when you hear fun sing along music, you naturally want to dance. I attempted to dance at my seat and was told to stop. If you are looking for a place to move your body when the music calls you, try somewhere else. But if you want to sit and watch, it’s great. The whole staff sings while they are working. The bartender sings while making drinks, the server sings while bringing your order, etc… get there early so you can get a seat. We got there right when it opened so we had great seats. It’s small so all seats are good but when we left, there was a line.

Awesome experience. Very quaint and laid-back. Other diners seems very pleased with experience as well. As far as piano bars go my favorite please go and enjoy! Try it out. Cheers, David.

Im glad to hear you enjoyed the performance at Dont Tell Mama! The singers delivered a beautiful and captivating show that left a lasting impression. Their vocal talents were truly exceptional, making it a memorable experience for the audience. Dont Tell Mama certainly knows how to showcase incredible talent!

Great atmosphere, food is not that good but its ok if youre there for the music and entertainment. Service is not the best either. We went next door to eat and the portion was really small for that price point. Arrive early, maybe 8ish, on the bar side to get good seats. Be prepared to squeeze and share tables with strangers.

  • Review 98 (2023-11-16 - Rating: 5)

Anna was fantastic!! We loved the atmosphere and the live music was an added bonus.

  • Review 99 (2017-06-01 - Rating: 4)

Its like no other place around. Funky caberet and interesting staff. The tables are super tight so you will meet your neighbors. Typically the crowd is friendly too, likely because the vibe is a happy one

T.Rex, the singing bartender, delivers a jaw-dropping performance with a voice as powerful as their name. Every note is a delightful concoction, blending mixology and melody seamlessly. A night at the bar becomes a musical journey, leaving patrons in awe. #TalentedTunes #MixAndMelody #SingingBartender

Some colleagues and I were out bar-hopping and we decided to try the piano bar as we walked down the street. Im so glad we did. It was a great night. You can sing along, make requests, or have a fun night just listening to the amazing music. Fantastic atmosphere. The resturant staff also lend their vocals here and there!

Astounding ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️One of the places you MUST visitThe greatest service, drinks (almost all for 20$/ in other places with “that” level of entertainment you would pay much more); and the performances …… !!!!!! OMG 😳 i could visit this place every day and never get bored off of it //// your simply the best 🎶 🎼 🎵The ppl who work there are so talented 🤩The time will come when someday you will become a superstars 🤩😎⭐️🥰I’ve read some “one-stars”⭐️ comments and:1. It’s not true that you cannot record performances2. The drinks are not overpriced3. You can order drinks at any time / also during the performances (who have even put this weird review !!!! after all everyone wants to earn some money 💴 so why they would even think to introduce this stupid rule 😂🤣)Cheers 🥂

  • Review 128 (2017-03-05 - Rating: 5)

This was, hands down, the best experience that Ive ever had in Manhattan! We sang, we laughed, and we drank great cocktails! Theater driven, the show is very receptive to audience participation and requests! How fun! The pianist there was a joy as well. The turkey club was amazing! Other items, not so much. The show was well worth the cost of the drinks and food as well. 5/5 for Piano Theater Bars!

Wow!! This place is such a delight! Thursday night they were doing karaoke with a very skilled and comical pianist. The servers perform while moving drinks, and will go up on stage and boy are they talented! Really everyone who went on stage had amazing voices and stage presence. They have it all: great music and talent, comedy, drama, comfortable safe atmosphere, friendly patrons and, of course, stiff drinks. Must see!
