    Very busy, fairly unremarkable bar/restaurant that’s been around for many years. Decent drinks, beer and food. Bartenders not so communicative. Food was okay but not terrific. Three bathrooms, which was nice; no waiting. Asked to pay cash, but by the time I got back from the bathroom a different bartender had already swooped up and charged by credit card. Extra 3%. No big deal, but still…

    My husband and I went off the tourist track and visited this bar today! Lovely chilled atmosphere! Server more than helpful and we can watch Liverpool game there on Sunday! Good selection of beers (husband expert level beer taster having had his own bar) had chicken wings and a lovely conversation with a library expert local who I assume is a regular … nice speaking to a New Yorker about all things American and British!We had been looking for a nice local bar and this was definitely one we were pleased to go in!

    Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere. Bartender on AUX had great picks. “Someday Baby” by RL Burnside was my fav.Our waiter, Adam, aka the Burger Messiah, was the best. He had tons of recommendations for things to do and try in the city. After enjoying an awesome slamburger Adam recommended a number of other burgers around town. Man knows his burgers, praise be. I will be returning to the Ale House (Church) for great food (Communion) and of of course to pray to the Burger Messiah

    Not the first time here and its a good local neighborhood bar. They have a ton of outdoor seating, in front, on the side and a large curb side shelter as well.Lots of craft beer on tap and full menu. Service was prompt, hostess seated us outside right away and server was right over. They brought a water dish for my dog. I did feel the mozzarella sticks were pretty skinny but I guess those are the times.Overall great place for a brew and food.

    Was in the city for a day trip and we happened upon Amsterdam Ale House to get a quick bite to eat. Food selection was great and tasted pretty good. I thought the prices were a little high for a very greasy burger, however. The fries were great and beer selection was good, however the beer was not as cold or carbonated as I would have liked. The place gets very crowded after 4, but our waiter was still very attentive . Overall I would definitely go back for another meal.

    Nice place. They have a three walled patio with several tables, and each one has a heat lamp thankfully. Nice lights up to add to the ambiance too. The waitstaff was very friendly and took great care of us. We were very satisfied with the chicken tenders and chili soup. Reasonable prices, though I think they do add 4% if you pay with a credit card, which I haven’t seen in many restaurants.

    A small beer selection with good bar food. We stopped her for dinner one evening.Wife had the French Onion soup to eat. It tasted good.I chose to have the Tuna burger with the onion rings, with a Maudite to drink. The burger was great. Packed with flavor and fresh vegetables on top. It was hard to put down.The onion rings were crisp and perfectly breaded and fried.The Maudite was cool, crisp, had a nice taste of a Barley ale. If I could stock that on the regular, back home, I would do it!

    Along with the Emerald Inn, the Amsterdam Ale House is my favorite pub on the Upper West Side. I have been here many times over the years its really the best pub in the area. Both the food and service at this establishment are solid. If you are in the area the Amsterdam Ale House definitely has my recommendation if your looking for a pub.

    I had a great experience at this place. Phil who welcomed us when we came through the door and served our food and talked with us was so nice. He was very attentive and I would go back there all because of his customer service. The food also was very good.

    There are a lot of draft beers on tap and some unique ones to choose from as well.The food is definitely bar food, but not bad, just average. I would definitely recommend visiting here while you wait for a reservation nearby or to kill time with a group or date.

    Insane packed crowd after the marathon pretty fun my girlfriend bought 7 (regular) beers for 70 dollars (plus a tip) so pretty dang expensive but maybe i just don’t belong in manhattan

    The beer selection is truly amazing. Many different styles and breweries. Some regular, some rotating so we can always be surprised. Something for everyone, unless you dont like beer... but wait! They also have whiskey and gin and whatnot so yeah, something for everyone. Will definitely visit again.

    Despite the place being packed on a Saturday night of a holiday weekend, we got a table for two right away. We got our orders taken right away. We got our drinks within just a few minutes despite the bar being packed besides all the tables. We then got our appetizer less than 10 minutes after and our mains less than 10 after that.I was super impressed with bothered the speed and quality of service, especially considering how busy it was. Equally impressive was the quality of the food. My bison burger was cooked as ordered and not dry (as bison burgers often can be.) The fries were plentiful and good as well. My wife enjoyed her Mac & Cheese.I was also pleasantly surprised that it was not overly loud despite the crowd- thankfully no rowdiness.The only slight negative was the 3% tacked on if paying by credit card (it’s stated on the check before you pay) but that seems to becoming common.This was my second or third time here and will return if I’m in the area (after seeing a movie at AMC Lincoln Square or before a show at The Beacon.)

    Amsterdam Ale House is about as standard of a sports bar as they come.Plenty of beers on tap, a wide variety of foods, and plenty of TVs for sports viewing.The service is solid, and the atmosphere is friendly. We would probably only give the food about a 3/5, but the drinks and sports-viewing experience is top-notch!

    4/13/24 first time here. Cool bar vibe. Interesting beers on tap.We had the pretzel filled with jalapeno cheese but there was No hint of jalapeno.So its just cheese filled, good but smaller than we expected.     Heard lots about Amsterdam Ale House so had to try for myself. Was visiting family for thanksgiving from Ireland with my brother and we stopped in one night. We were not disappointed at all. My first beer wasnt the best (think it was the end of the keg) which was very quickly changed for another recommendation and I was very happy.Rebecca was the amazing bar tender serving us. Great personality. Nothing was too much trouble for her.I would highly recommend this place for its staff and great beers.Will be back again and try the food next time 😁👌👌

    Great dinner and drink spot near the beacon! The food portions are HUGE so you’ll definitely leave full. The food is a bit above average, so stick with the classics like the angus or bison burger. The beer is great and the staff is awesome. Overall great spot

    Came to Amsterdam Ale House this weekend to watch basketball, and had such a great experience. At first there were only 2 of us, but over several hours 4 more friends arrived. The host and manager were so accommodating and first moved us to a larger table and moved our tab, and then pulled up another table to fit the additional 2 people when they arrived. I feel like this level of accommodation is so unusual in NYC and we all appreciated it so so much!!! Food and drink were also great, we’ll definitely be back!

    We went here for lunch and had it outdoors, so had the included people watching entertainment.Staff was very attentive. We had buffalo wings and the spicy chicken sandwich (It may be listed differently) which included fries. The sandwich contained a slightly spicy sauce which wasnt too heavy, cheddar cheese, and a moist chicken breast. The sauce was great and didnt overpower the chicken or cheese.Unfortunately I dived into the plate before taking a picture.

    Stopped by before a show at The Beacon. Good beer selection. Decided to share the loaded nachos with pulled pork, it was a large portion, and very tasty. Not so with the Buffalo cauliflower wings. The taste was OK, but the breading was soggy, mushy. They should be fried til nice and crispy, then tossed in sauce right before serving. They tasted more like a bad frozen meal from a store and microwaved. The server was great and was able to take it off our bill.

    Nice ale House with great variety of beers on draft and an impressive selection of bottled beer as well. No cocktail list so definitely the place to go for beer or wine. The food options were great and I loved the pulled pork sandwich which I had with sweet potato fries. Everything was cooked perfectly, served promptly and taken care of by a great wait staff.

    We had the best experience. AC was our main server. He was fantastic. Helped my husband make his dinner choice and he was spot on. He was funny and entertaining and really made the experience wonderful. He knew we had the Andy Grammer show and told us when to leave and where to check in. Now for the food. My angus burger was to die for. Best burger I have had in a long while. Hubby had the fish tacos and they were terrific. He is a foodie so will try and replicate at home. Our son had the Bison burger which looked amazing and he said was wonderful too!.Thank you for making our first night out in a loooonnnggg time such a wonderful experience. We will be back for sure!

    Oh, is THAT where I was? It looks completely different, in many of the associated photos. I think I got hit on by a guy named Miguel, who addressed me as Madame. Im 66 and 225#. So, LOL. I was back in town to give a lecture at the NYPL.The service was aight, but I got a similar chill from the bartender as at the Dublin Pub, up on 79th. Hadda stick close to the hotel. I had a couple of black russians, I think. Miguel had a negroni, on me. His lady friend was far more genial.Would definitely return, but Ive avoided the UWS for the first fifty years of my life. No reason to stop, now!

    Been here a few times and Ive begun surprised by liking the food and drinks (and drink selection - in addition to beers, they have some less common ciders and pretty good cocktails). Unfortunately over the few times Ive come in over the years, the service ranged from stellar to aloof/spotty, which is really my only complaint. They also dont have a ton of vegan, vegetarian and/or gluten free options other than salad and some sides/apps, but wouldnt say you should expect that at somewhere looking to be known for their ale.

The softness of the English muffin was a new burger experience for me. I loved it and it seemed less bready than the typical burger bun. Buffalo burger was medium rare to perfection, but Im going to tell you a secret. The menu says 8oz of meat, but this was the first time in my life I couldnt finish the last two bites I was so full. Same for my husband. We both think its the biggest burger weve ever ordered anywhere. Kudos, AAH. Great draft list. Also, huge huge shout-out to the staff for maintaining organization and smiles amongst the marathon crowd chaos. If they can handle marathon night, Im sure this staff is amazing any other day of the week as well.Cons: Wait is lengthy (but worth it). You can still grab a beer at the bar while you wait for a table, it will just be standing room only with 100 of your closest standing room friends.

    The UWS is a sad place for beer lovers. this place is a haven for good beers. while there is some annoying sports bar crap going on, it is a lot less annoying than in other places, especially if you sit at the bar.
