This is my favorite cocktail place in NYC.You have to wait in line, BUT it’s worth it.Pro tip: go early and they only take up to party of 4 max ( last I checked). I love the soju cocktail, I’ve been to this place 8 times since it reopened, and I’ve taken all my friends there and if you are visiting New York, put it on your list. They used to be in upper Manhattan earlier but now they are in lower east side. It’s also kind of a speakeasy, but you’ll mostly see people in a queue outside, if you dine, it’s the basement of a residential building, 2nd one from the corner. YW! -

Cocktail bar with Japanese-inspired concoctions and dishes. They do not take reservations, so I would recommend coming early to avoid a long wait. We arrived around 6:45pm on a Saturday and waited for 30 minutes. The space is beautifully furnished with thoughtful paintings. The drinks are good - the ones that we’ve tried had a clean palate. The food was okay but feels overpriced. The server was helpful in pointing us to the gluten free items.Overall it was an enjoyable, but it is not worth waiting a super long time for and the price to value ratio is med. -

The whole places an art. The decoration, the display and the drinks all goes harmoniously with its name and gives a mysterious, intriguing vibeCocktails are def one of the best Ive had in the city. Highly recommend:1. Painted paradise - refreshing honey dew with a little milky taste, been trying to find something similar but nothing comes close to this one;2. Street scene - very unique matcha foam on sweet sour fruity undertone;3. Fever - salty cheese foam that balances perfectly with sweet strawberry undertoneFood was ok with nothing stood out (good or bad -

Fantastic experience here! The drinks are absolutely delicious. I had the Cheek to Cheek, which tasted like berry ice cream. I also got the curry powder drink. Very interesting taste, as they used Japanese curry powder on top. I also got the squid. The sauce was incredible. It was like a milder wasabi with mayo mixed together. Overall atmosphere of this space was moody and inviting. I highly recommend going here if you’re in the area. -

I really liked the drinks here. They were so tasty and the bartenders are so fast. I recommend sitting at the bar and watching them make the drinks because it is very interesting to see. They do a great job. I also loved the speakeasy vibes. I had a great time. I had the raisin the roof and fool me once -

This is definitely one of my favorite cocktail bars in New York when Im going to be in the city. It was a pleasant surprise to only have to wait 15-20 minutes for a bar seat, and I cant find an issue with the level of service provided. The drinks were outstanding. As a fan of classic cocktails, I am delighted to be able to meet and ask Tsunetaka Imada, Head Bartender of Angels Share, to make my favorite classic cocktail - Boulevardier, for me. -
Review 7 (2024-05-18 - Rating: 5)
Went as a group of four people, significant wait on a Wednesday night but they handled it very well. Hands down best cocktails Ive ever tried. They were all unique and balanced - like nothing youve ever had before. I think Jason was the host and he was so friendly. I recommend the matcha one, the midnight in something one, and the vodka one with Parmesan cheese (sounds weird but its EXCELLENT). -
Review 8 (2024-10-28 - Rating: 4)
Beautiful bar and enjoyed the speak easy. The line was about an hour wait around 9pm no reservations allowedBut hosts were helpful about updating you in getting inThe cocktails were good but not my favorite especially when each one is about 23$ I like how they were going for the creative aspect but it just didnt hit the mark. We were trying to inquire what the bartender felt made their place special. We really like getting that passionate feedback from bartenders and their creativity but the ones we had just pointed to the menu. So even though it wasnt a bad experience, if youre looking for the best cocktails and a great experience, Id go somewhere else. -

If you’re looking for the best cocktail in NYC I would say Angel’s Share is the one!! I loved all the cocktails I’ve tried and all cocktails here are different from other places and you’ll love it! Don’t think just go and find your favorite cocktail!! -

Angels Share does it again. This is their third distinct location and the second that Ive been to (I also stopped by their hotel pop-up location multiple times). They continue to provide some of the best, most balanced craft cocktails in the city. Everyone from visitors to NYC natives should visit this bar at least once.Oddly enough, the highlight of my most recent visit was their espresso cocktail which I generally view as a utility drink rather than an actual cocktail. However, the folks at Angels Share have successfully elevated it to a phenomenal drink. Cant recommend this place enough. -

Review 14 (2024-06-07 - Rating: 5)
Walked in with no reservation around 7pm on a Thursday with no wait, and around 6pm on a Friday with no wait. Free bag and coat check!Amazing drinks. Comparable to double chicken please imo. New fav bar and I dare say worth the price tag. There is a olive foam drink and a matcha drink I forget the names of but both are amazing -
Review 15 (2024-02-25 - Rating: 5)
My favourite bar in New York so far! The drinks were so yummy and so creative! Special mention to the marscapone and yogurt one with strawberry undertones and the matcha one! So so so lovely! -
Review 16 (2024-01-27 - Rating: 5)
The holy grail of speakeasies, easily one of the best cocktail spots in the city. The drinks are next level. The ambience is amazing. Everything about this place is done extremely well. -
Review 17 (2024-12-04 - Rating: 5)
Absolutely amazing. Every single drink we had was incredibly creative, surprisingly expressive and deliciously executed. If you’re in New York for a night and you like a cocktail this is where you should go. Truly genius. -
Review 18 (2022-03-08 - Rating: 5)
One of my favorite Japanese speakeasy bar in the city!Hidden besides a Izakaya, the vibe is rather calm and chill, and the selections of cocktails are also a lot.I would recommend Harvest and milestone the most.Harvest is really refreshing, and milestone has a strong whiskey fragrance.A recommended bar if you have some time to wait in line :) -
Review 19 (2023-10-22 - Rating: 5)
Angels Share holds the title of my top speakeasy and bar pick. Despite the intimidating line outside, it moved pretty quickly - we were told a 45-minute wait time but found ourselves seated in just 20.While I have a soft spot for their previous location, the new venue offers more space. However, the hallmark of Angels Share remains unchanged: impeccable service coupled with the citys most innovative cocktails, often tinged with Japanese flavors. I got the Painted Paradise, which was a delightful concoction, bursting with distinctive and refreshing flavors. -
Review 20 (2023-10-11 - Rating: 5)
Angels Share is the best bar Ive been to! Its super cozy and the drinks are amazing. The bartender, Ryan, is really nice and experienced. I would definitely recommend this place and cant wait to go again! -
Review 21 (2023-06-18 - Rating: 5)
Angel’s Share is back and better than ever! We went during their soft opening, and it was so good to be back at the once familiar establishment. Erina, the talented owner, was extremely welcoming and we had a chance to catch up on her journey to re-open the speakeasy and share fond memories. Longtime patrons of Angel’s Share may notice familiar touches to the decor: The door leading into the speakeasy was from the original location, the original wall sconces are back, and the infamous mural is also back in its original form. Half the menu is entirely new and I tried the Fiesta, a savory/umami twist on an Old Fashioned, and I can’t wait to come back to explore the other new offerings. While this week’s opening was only spread on social media and word of mouth, the waitlist was already hours-long and the excitement inside the speakeasy was palpable. So excited to have Angel’s Share back in the city and already looking forward to my next visit. -
Review 22 (2024-04-05 - Rating: 5)
I feel like half the people sitting at the bar seating were on a date lol so i guess it’s a great spot for thatthe Take You There was one of the best versions of a whiskey sour i had in a while :’) pricey but the vibe was really good tbhthe wait for us at 8:30pm on a thursday was like 30 minutes. -
Review 23 (2023-08-30 - Rating: 5)
What an incredible experience. There is no booking list, but the waiting line goes quick. We went 2 times in 2 different days and had to wait max 30 min, but i promise you it is worth every second. The menu of cocktails is incredible, the staff super nice, they really know what to do. Actually, they do art in here. Try to take the most unusual combination of ingredients, you will not be dissapointed 👌🏻ps: i reccomend not to miss Flirtbird - with plum salt. You will not understand what happens to your taste buds 🤭 -
Review 24 (2024-10-06 - Rating: 5)
One of my favorite places in NYC. Always difficult to get in on pre weekends. So glad they have maintained that high standard in-spite of all the moves. Location doesnt disappoint. Tried this time - Smoke Gets in your eyes, Serenade, Buena Vista, Fiesta and Downtime. All good concoctions -
Review 25 (2023-06-20 - Rating: 5)
Did not have the chance to visit Angels Share when they were in East Village so when I saw they had reopened over in West Village I got myself in line to nab a seat inside the bar. Originally my girlfriend and I were sat in a cozy little nook next to a fireplace but by the kindness of one of the servers we were able to get into a bar seat once another couple left. The drinks were incredible, utilizing interesting ingredients like marscapone, banana water, cream cheese, cookie orgeat, balsamic honey and more. My girlfriend and I had 10 drinks between the two of us and each was as delicious as the last. You must come here if you are a fan of cocktails! -
Review 26 (2023-12-08 - Rating: 5)
This west village spot has Amazing cocktails small bites, and a cool atmosphere. New to the neighborhood and a great add - walk-ins only so suggest arriving early to minimize wait. Drinks are each over $20 but very unique and well made. -
Review 27 (2023-12-02 - Rating: 4)
Interesting spot we stumbled across, felt like an old whisky bar you’d find in Asia. Expect a first come first serve wait.. you can out your name down but have to be present with your entire party when its called. We were told an hr wait so had a drink across the street and came back, but name was called so we had to put our name down again. Honestly moves fast depending on when you come (later in the night the better).Very expensive drinks! $20+ all craft cocktails that have a mix of flavors. Not strong at all. Honestly did not enjoy it for the price and the vibe there is just, definitely a start spot for your night or to bring a date. Would suggest going to another bar, not a “wow” experience here. -
Review 28 (2024-06-23 - Rating: 5)
One of my favorite cocktail bars in the city. Highly recommend the shochu drinks. Come in a party of two to be seated more quickly -
Review 29 (2020-02-07 - Rating: 5)
Absolutely lovely bar! Great vibes with dim lighting to set the mood. Incredibly attentive staff from the bartenders to the hosts to the servers. Drinks were inventive, unique and delicious! Clean bathrooms as well.Sometimes the wait can be a bit long but that’s to be expected of such a popular spot so plan to get there early! It’s definitely worth the wait!! -
Review 30 (2023-07-01 - Rating: 5)
So I was told about this place by people who had been to the old location in the east village. Angel’s share is a super charming speakeasy that has some super creative cocktails. I had the Open Letter, which was basically an espresso martini with gran marnier and some other ingredients. Then, the dessert style cocktail of the Cheek to Cheek which was served with a spoon. Now, idk what’s in it lol but if you like berry smoothies with mascarpone and yogurt topping, this drink is for you. Super rich and delicious. It was perfect because of the temperature outside. Highly recommend this for date night or for the boys…if they like creative cocktails. -
Review 31 (2024-12-03 - Rating: 5)
10/10.Just perfect, one of my favorites hidden bar in NY.The cocktails were all incredibles and the staff super kind! -
Review 32 (2021-12-01 - Rating: 5)
Hidden on the upstairs floor of a Japanese restaurant, Village Yokocho, Angel’s Share simply is a perfection in making cocktails. The unique balance of sweet with the bitter taste of the alcohol, their quiet polite attitude, considering the guests with every movement and gesture is a great reminder of the Japanese tea ceremony (Chanoyu). If you are around the area, I would highly recommend this place. Although all their drinks are amazing, Cheek to Cheek is my favorite drink. Enjoy :) 😋🍸🍹🥂🍷🍾 -
Review 33 (2023-10-25 - Rating: 5)
An nyc speakeasy staple, now in the west village! Personally, I liked the east village location more as it had a more “speakeasy” vibe with the iconic mural but the drinks are just as good in the new place!! Love all of the Japanese innovative cocktails they have here. -
Review 34 (2024-10-31 - Rating: 5)
Amazing spot! The Asian-inspired cocktails were unique and packed with flavor. Beautiful presentation, great ambiance, and friendly staff. Perfect place for a memorable drink experience! Would recommend Painted Paradise, Street Scene, Fever, and Cheek to Cheek. -
Review 35 (2024-12-24 - Rating: 5)
Now, permanent location. Little more cleaned up than the original location, but the similar vibe. -
Review 36 (2020-02-25 - Rating: 5)
Delicious cocktails! Quite impressed with the layering of flavors in these cocktails - will definitely be going back. Getting a seat can be difficult if going at peak times so try to get there a bit early if possible. Drinks are quite expensive, typically in the 17-20 range, for two people with two drinks each you will easily spend 90-100. -
Review 37 (2018-10-14 - Rating: 5)
This place is truly an amazing find tucked away in the back of the restaurant. The service was impeccable, knowledgeable, and friendly. The drinks are absolutely delicious and like a piece of art. There is so much depth and magic going on. The ambiance reminds me of a speak easy from the prohibition era...very classy! -
Review 38 (2021-09-26 - Rating: 5)
Excellent drinks! Recommend papaya and friends and the bacardi award winner sabor a mi. They were mixed wonderfully and were easy to drink, fruity not too boozy, very smooth. The earl grey drink was like a very boozy martini, tasty but strong! Pictures pink drink is sabor a mi and clear drink with pepper is papaya and friends. Nicely hidden behind the restaurant on the 2nd floor. When you walk up to the restaurant say youre there for the bar. -
Review 39 (2024-06-15 - Rating: 5)
Really enjoyed this spot. It feels like a lounge, which is my favorite type of speakeasy/bar. It’s a tight space but doesn’t feel cramped. We got lucky and only waited about 20 minutes for a party of 2. Cocktails were very good and service was great! -
Review 40 (2018-01-14 - Rating: 5)
Excellent cocktails! Not to be missed! No matter what your taste is they will have an expertly crafted cocktail on the menu for you. If you are hesitant about the ingredients, talk the the bartender and theyll help you figure it out. -
Review 41 (2024-09-09 - Rating: 5)
This speakeasy is such a mood. Wide selection of cocktails to chose from and everything we ordered was perfection. Nothing watered down, service was prompt. Great spot for a date or late night drinks. -
Review 42 (2019-06-25 - Rating: 5)
Super cute speakeasy thats tucked away above a restaurant. the view it the window is nice and the service is amazing but none of that compares to the incredible drinks here. Ive never had anything as unique and good as the cocktails here. I got the Flirtibird and the Monks Dream. Never had anything like it. Definitely worth the price and I highly recommend going. -
Review 43 (2024-12-20 - Rating: 5)

Review 44 (2023-09-25 - Rating: 4)
Got one round of drinks here with some friends while we were in town. Atmosphere is really cool. Drinks were good, but I still cant believe that the smallest drink in this picture is the mocktail and that it was $17. I dont think it was worth that price. -
Review 45 (2024-01-14 - Rating: 5)
One of the best bars in town, but I t took too long for waiting. -
Review 46 (2022-02-01 - Rating: 5)
Thank goodness we cam3 after the blizzard otherwise we would’ve waited an hour + on line. Got a table for four. Drinks were delicious. The server was wonderful!! No camera flash allowed inside. My overly enthusiastic self was scolded many times. -
Review 47 (2017-07-17 - Rating: 5)
Its very hard to find this place. Its hiding inside a Japanese restaurant. Very classic decoration and not too loud. You dont have to yell at your friends for them to hear you (most bars you do have to). Cocktails are very tasty. -
Review 48 (2019-12-05 - Rating: 5)
Lovely interiors and features one of my favourite cocktails in town - cheek to cheek (yoghurt based cocktail/quite sweet which is to my liking). The cocktails are a bit pricey but defo worth a visit or two. The place is so well known that its not speakeasy at all and theres usually a long wait for a seat/table.FYI: The barman expects you to tip generously. -
Review 49 (2021-07-15 - Rating: 4)
We were on a hidden bar excursion and had this one on the list. Yes it was hidden but not as fun as some of the other hidden bars we have gone to. Just got some cocktails which were good and headed to our next one Please Dont Tell. -
Review 50 (2024-07-13 - Rating: 5)
40 minute wait for one person Friday night but my god painted paradise might be the best single glass of cocktail Ive ever had -
Review 51 (2024-12-14 - Rating: 5)
Hands down the BEST cocktails in the city. Absolutely incredible. -
Review 52 (2021-04-26 - Rating: 5)
Man, what a gem. Cocktails taste GREAT (and that’s already a must-go reason), not to mention cozy indoor deco and really friendly service.Btw, Flirtibird is my favorite—must be a genius who thought of putting plum salt rim together with yuzu shochu. -
Review 53 (2020-02-17 - Rating: 5)
Have been to the original location as well as the annex above Sharaku. Both have excellent cocktails! Just be prepared for a wait, even in off hours. Most recently, I got the Titina at the annex location which was DELICIOUS. Will definitely keep this place on my list of go-to cocktail spots! -
Review 54 (2024-09-07 - Rating: 5)
Its the simple little things that brings the biggest boldest flavor and surprises you. There really are no true vocabulary to describe Angel Share and the bartenders (cocktail artists) who craft their exceptional drinks. Pure high quality artistry. Its the very few places that I return to time and time again. 1st place I recommend to friends every time without disappointment. Its always money well spent when you can taste and feel the difference. Flirtybird, Volcanic Paradise (absolutely) and Street Scene every time! -
Review 55 (2024-08-28 - Rating: 5)
Good cocktail selection! Bartenders know their stuff! -
Review 56 (2023-09-13 - Rating: 4)
Super cozy place. You often have to wait for seats, but this ensures that the bar doesnt get too crowded. The drinks are wonderful, however they are pricey especially since the portion sizes are a bit small. But the cocktails are carefully and thoughtfully crafted so you want to take your time enjoying each one. The bartenders are really friendly so its always worth requesting seats at the bar. -
Review 57 (2018-07-28 - Rating: 4)
Creative cocktails that work! Insanely long wait time (1-2.5 hrs) is expected on any evenings. They also dont take parties bigger than 4. -
Review 58 (2019-11-10 - Rating: 5)
Drinks are absolutely best! I don’t like the taste of alcohol, but Angel’s Share’s bartenders have surprised me. We ordered Cheek to Cheek, Milestones for myself, and Raising to the Roof (sorry if I spell any names wrong.) We would definitely come back next time we are in New York. Noted that if you come in the weekends, expecting to wait at least 30 minutes. It’s worth the wait! -
Review 59 (2024-04-28 - Rating: 5)
Atmosphere 7/10Considering the theme of “angels”, i would have expected the bar to be located on higher floors, and not in a basement. Just doesn’t match. Overall cozy atmosphere and good volume of music, allowing a conversation . The painting on the wall is definitely not for everyone’s taste. Even disregarding any religious views on that, I just don’t think it’s pretty designDrinks 8/10The cocktails were all delicious - street car, downtime and fever. Recommend to try the street car. Presentation was nice and creative. Menu looks like a cheap piece of paper, unfortunately. No coasters, only black napkins.Service 8/10Table service - drinks were served quick. Water is served too and refilled by attentive staff. Slightly above average pricing. No reservations possible - prepare to wait >30min outside to get seated. Maximum party size of 4This one is #43 North America’s Best Bar 2024. Like many other bars on the 2024 list, I think this one is ranked a bit too high. -
Review 60 (2023-09-28 - Rating: 5)
Angels Share offers a fantastic cocktail experience in a cozy setting. Their skilled mixologists craft a diverse menu that caters to various tastes. -
Review 61 (2022-01-04 - Rating: 5)

Review 62 (2024-04-17 - Rating: 5)
This is one of my favorites cocktail bars in NY!! I love the drinks here and surprisingly the food was also pretty good here! I love the berry drink with yogurt on top! Ive never had anything like this before. Will definitely come back again to try more things! -
Review 63 (2018-08-21 - Rating: 4)
They opened another location to augment the primary spot 3 doors down on the right. Been here twice. Enjoyed both times, but realize that it’s all about enjoyment of flavor, volume is minimal as the mixes are exotic. This drink has frozen grapes infused with basil oil, specialty gin, St Germaine’s and sherry. Very good, but a one drink wonder spot. Expect to spend $20 per person just to sit down for one round. Value to money ratio is there if you are more weighted toward an experience and flavor goal. -
Review 64 (2019-11-17 - Rating: 4)
Cool cocktail bar with a surprisingly big menu. They opened late... we almost left because we didn’t know what was going on. Nice ambiance. My drink was awesome... the only thing that could have made it better is having it made table-side (smoke and all). -
Review 65 (2019-09-21 - Rating: 5)
Top tier speakeasy and one of the last true hidden bars left. It’s located above a Japanese restaurant and has a great menu selection of various cocktails that you will rarely see anywhere else. Order the smoke gets in your eyes, it’s a treat of a smokey drink that I’ve never been able to find anywhere else. -
Review 66 (2024-04-01 - Rating: 4)
Its a good cocktail bar, but personally not one of my favorites, specially in a city with so many options. Long queue on a thursday night, had to wait around 45 minutes. Atmosphere inside is cool, loved the bar and the paintings at the back. Very well crafted menu and cocktails. -
Review 67 (2020-12-04 - Rating: 5)
Absolutely fantastic! One of the best Cocktail Bars in the city. Very friendly, exceptional and attentive service.Felt very safe, tables were spaced out from one another, everyone wore a mask. Hand sanitizer available... I will definitely be back. -

OMGGGGG!!! I have to share this place!First of all, the interior is so well designed. Very speakeasy with the dimmed lighting.Secondly, the COCKTAILS!!!!!! EVERY SINGLE ONE of them has a rich and unique taste! Come here and explore the drinks yourself! You’ll find it lingering in memory! -

Came to Angel’s Share with a group of friends to grab a couple of drinks and wish I had known about this spot sooner. This cocktail bar is an unassuming, speakeasy style spot situated in the lower level of a building in the west village. The waitlist is hit or miss but luckily we got a table pretty quickly in the back. The cocktail menu here is very impressive with a few drinks for every taste profile. Of the two whiskey ones I tried both were incredible. One was more on the light and fruity side but well balanced and the other was spirit forward so the two balanced each other out.The atmosphere inside is also perfect for enjoying the night. You can actually have a conversation without shouting and the ambiance is fantastic.Love places like this and can’t wait to be back! -
Review 71 (2024-08-28 - Rating: 5)

Drinks: 5Atmosphere: 5Service: 5Amazing quality drinks with knowledgeable bartenders. My friend and I got here at 4:40pm prior to 5pm opening and were able to get seats at the bar. As a New Yorker, this is one of the best bars I’ve been to. -
Review 75 (2023-12-14 - Rating: 5)
Nice atmosphere, and best cocktails I’ve had all year. Got the Take You There, which had a warm delicious profile, elevated with fruity notes and the accompanying dried fruit, and the Painted Paradise, which was gorgeous, complex, and balanced with beautiful soft fruit and floral prolonged notes. Highly recommend both.Only issue is this definitely falls on the pricey side 💰, even for Manhattan, so brace yourself. -
Review 76 (2019-10-13 - Rating: 5)
Have to sit and the bar and watch these bartenders. This is where you watch them craft and create. They have a cocktail with Tajin! Which was amazing.Well worth the wait if you cannot get seated right away. -
Review 77 (2019-06-14 - Rating: 5)
A local nyc friend told me this place. It’s hard to find the entrance because it’s hidden inside a restaurant on the second floor. It has amazing cocktails. Not many seats tho. -

Not sure if I have to start with the drinks or the long wait because they don’t have a reservation system in place. Usual wait is around 30-45 min but we got in after an hour long of waiting. Cocktails are top notch, Japanese based menu, coming back to try the whole menu out. -

Review 81 (2024-01-14 - Rating: 5)
Fantastic experience! I walked in and instantly felt like I was in a Japanese cocktail bar. Love that they don’t take reservations, no groups larger than 4, and that they run things in a way to give everyone the best possible service. We arrive about 15 mins before they opened and got in line. The line was lengthy but we managed to get in on the first go, but quite a few parties were turned away for having more than 4 people.Definitely a place we will come back to! -

One of my favorite bars in the neighborhood. The drinks are always on point, the place is super cozy and they also have some really tasty small plates. The drinks menu keeps changing so you’re bound to try new cocktails on every visit. Definitely a must visit and deserves a place on your roster:) -

The cocktails were great (especially Cheek to Cheek), the ambiance very nice but I miss the old place speakeasy vibe when you enter via another place. Here you just line outside for 30-40 min (no reservations) and cant even leave your phone and go wait somewhere else. The bar area is more fun than the back room which is more romantic. However they need to have a better fan, it got a lot of fried oil smell from the kitchen in the back and my clothes was all smelly the day after. -

Venturing into the captivating realm of Angels Share on a Wednesday evening added a touch of intrigue to our night. Post-indulgence in a classic New York slice at Bleeker St Pizza, we sought out Angels Share, now nestled in the West Village at 45 Grove Street. The absence of reservations heightened the sense of exclusivity, creating an air of anticipation. The ambience was undeniably great, albeit snug, especially in the bar area, where the proximity of chairs felt a tad cramped. A recommendation would be to space them out generously, allowing patrons to revel in the intimate atmosphere comfortably. An observation that struck a chord was the need for additional bathroom facilities. Given the size of the place, accommodating more patrons with an extra restroom would undoubtedly enhance the overall experience. Kudos to the courteous front desk staff who, in the spirit of winter generosity, offered complimentary coat check. The waiting time, however, was a minor hiccup, clocking in at 19 minutes outside and an additional 14 minutes in the waiting area. In a city brimming with cocktail bars, the wait did prompt fleeting thoughts of exploring alternatives nearby.Once inside, the ambiance was a fusion of cool decor and dim lighting, perhaps a touch too dim for ease of perusal. A discreet request for a candle was met with promptness, allowing us to decipher the menu without resorting to intrusive phone flashes. The challenge of engaging in conversation persisted, as patrons seemed to engage in a vocal competition over the ambient noise. Our libation journey unfolded with three drinks in tow. The first, an enigma, delivered an okay experience. The second drink was the “Cheek to Cheek”, emerged as a masterpiece of mixology, featuring Havana Club Añejo Blanco, mixed berries, white cranberry, balsamic honey, Vincotto, yogurt & mascarpone espuma. The third drink : “Painted Paradise” : with fig leaf-infused Iichiko Saiten, honeydew, jasmine, lemon, and pandan milk, left an indelible mark of amazement.Despite the dimly lit ambience at the bar and the challenges of seating, Angels Share delivered a memorable evening. A suggestion to enhance the experience would be to introduce a bit more light, reduce bar seating slightly, and expand bathroom facilities. These nuanced adjustments could propel Angels Share into the echelons of a perfect 5-star establishment. -

One of my favorite bars has opened in their new home in the West Village. Love the new digs, old mural, and additions to their cocktail menu! Have been three times already, love it just as much as the original (and v2 and v3). -

Came on a Wednesday around 615 as a party of 4 with about a 15-20 minute wait. Our drinks came out very quickly and were some of the best cocktails that Ive had in the city. Everything was complex with many different flavors going on but also balanced. We ordered the fried squid and chicken karaage (which was insanely juicy) that paired perfectly with our drinks. Im already planning my next trip back. -

Always go to this place with friend. They are so professional and always very busy. Need to expect waiting in line for a long time, but I love their cocktails and it’s so worth it.This old-traditional style bar reminds you of old goody days of New York. Dark stylish room, counter and table seating, you hear people talking and enjoying the night. This is absolutely the place for us, adult New Yorkers. They are definitely not cheap, might be a little expensive for drinks, but you will enjoy the quality of drinks. -

One of the two best cocktail bars Ive ever been to. Id give this place 6 stars if I could. The bartender is incredibly friendly and immensely knowledgeable. Hell make anything you ask for or craft something new and delicious depending on your tastes. Highly recommended for the cocktail aficionado. The bar is quite quiet, and the artwork is interesting. -

There is no signage for Angels Share. Its a speakeasy within a Japanese restaurant. It sometimes can be tricky to find, but if its busy, youll notice the people waiting to get in. And the wait is worth it. Cocktails here are not cheap, but not expensive, and incredibly delicious. You can order classic cocktails, which are good although theyre not on the menu. But the signature cocktails are delicious. Some are more unique than others, but theres definitely something for everyone. This place strictly serves drinks, so keep that in mind. It makes an excellent date spot, or just a place to grab some drinks in a chill space. -

Cool cocktail bar with creative twists on classic cocktails. We got a few drinks and they were all so well made.I was especially impressed by the my tai which was all clear but still packed the same flavor profile as your regular drink. My second drink was the sunset lane which was another twist on an old fashioned but very different to what I’d expect. My wife got the Harvest and Papaya and friends. The harvest was probably my favorite drink of the lot! -

ProTip: This place is pretty small and gets pretty packed. There’s not really a wait list. The hostess kind of just remembers the order that people come in. If you go right outside and right next door, it’s essentially the same bar, but with a way shorter wait. But we wanted to go to the original. We finally got seated after a while I ordered the Serenity with is probably one of the fruitiest drinks they have. It was really good and sweet which I like. I always appreciate a great handcrafted cocktail. The ambience is really nice. You sit in booths which with severely dim lighting – a total speakeasy vibe.Overall, come here for good drinks and chill vibe. -

Review 103 (2019-11-11 - Rating: 4)
One of the nicer speak easies in NYC. This place is trendy and the drinks are good. The mixologists know their craft. The drinks are what you expect for a nice bar, but it’s worth the intimate setting. It wasn’t too loud in there so you can hear the person next to you. It’s an unexpected place behind a sushi bar. There’s a bit of a wait even for a party of two, but it’s one of the bars you have to check out in NYC. Will definitely come back again. -

Love this place!!Ive visited numerous speakeasies during my time in NY and this goes down as one of the best Ive been to in my time. A few points to highlight my point- One of the biggest traits of a good speak-easy place is the amount of effort one has to put in to discover it and Angels Share is mighty difficult to uncover for sure :). Walk through an unmarked side door at the front of Japanese restaurant Village Yokocho, and youll find yourself in perhaps the classiest joint in the East Village.- The cocktails are innovative and smooth. Smoke into my eyes is pure bliss [as highlighted in other reviews] but its Stormy Weather that stole my heart.- The ambience is classy and charming. Keep in mind that this place is not meant for huge noisy groups. On an average most tables wouldnt be able to accommodate a group of more than 4For now, this place is here to stay. Im sure Im gonna be back very soon -
Review 105 (2019-03-22 - Rating: 5)
Small, intimate, and dimly lit room to converse with some drinks. They play jazz music in the background. There may be a long wait due to the small space. The drinks are unique and can accommodate anyone, including myself who enjoys drinks that dont taste like alcohol. However, when I went, there were many groups talking loudly, so we needed to speak loudly to compensate. -

My current favourite bar in NYC! We had an assortment of cocktails and a couple of bar foods, all of which were wonderful. Each cocktail was great and had their own character, but I was blown away by a few.The Harvest is gin-based that is nicely light with a hint of lavender. I absolutely loved the My Tai as it tasted like a coffee liqueur but still refreshing. We got a few snacks as well and the cod mayo was very yummy with the fries. The staff were always incredibly courteous and kind throughout! -

Excited to see that Angels Share has reopened and in the west village no less! The cocktails are just as creative and tasty as they were in the LES hidden location.Definitely expect wait on a Friday night, but it’s a great spot to wait it out for a resy at one of the nearby hotspot restaurants such as Via Carota, I’ll Sodi, & LartusiThe vibe is super intimate and cozy, the service is great with incredibly attentive waiters.*Came back again while we waited for a table down the street. Sat at the bar this time around and had a lovely chat with the talented bartender! -

Wow.... what can I say. At first I went to the wrong location. Kudos to the market next door for pointing me in the right direction. Once I finally found this secret Japanese hideaway I was taken into a cocktail paradise. The drinks were perfectly balanced and fairly priced ($16-17). The drinks took me back to my childhood where my grandmother would let me taste her crafted cocktails. Highly recommend and will be back.P.S the Raisin The Roof might have been the tastiest cocktail ever. -

This place gets really packed starting from 8pm. The drinks era really good and theres plenty yo choose from (I really like one with a touch of curry). Service can be improved, when I visited it was quite slow and my companion and I were told that we might have to change tables at any given moment. -
Review 110 (2018-08-24 - Rating: 4)
Cool little spot hidden on the second floor. The cocktails are good. A bit of an unnecessary attitude by the staff though. I went with 3 friends, one of which does not drink alcohol; they gave us attitude because ‘each person must order at least one drink’. We ended up ordering 5 drinks anyway, so it wasn’t a problem in the end, but still annoying because it set the tone from the moment we sat down. -

Tasty food and drinks, but the abv of cocktails is the lowest among attaboy/double chicken please/dante/dead rabbit. They are more like mock tails that tastes similar to fruity boba drinks. -

My girl friends and I have been looking forward to grabbing drinks at angel’s share and it did not disappoint! The drinks ($14-18) are crafted with care and so unique in taste. I love how the garnishes complement the drinks so well by elevating the aromas with each sip. We didn’t get to try many of the food items but the takoyaki was delicious. Make sure to book a reservation in advance if possible otherwise, arrive before 7pm to avoid a wait. Looking forward to coming back! -

Amazing speakeasy place. Best cocktails so far Ive had in Manhattan. Price is on par with other speakeasy bars in the city. They have a very cool Asian twist on their fancy cocktails. The drinks arent particularly hard-hitting except for the one that comes in the tiki glass (cant remember the name). The view is great and the low lighting and quick service make for a great date spot... Try not to sit by the door though or yearning patrons in line will make you feel rushed. -

Atmosphere: 5/5Drinks: 5/5Service: 3/5 - it was a little slow and difficult to grab your servers attention due to the layout and darkness of the bar.Intimate speakeasy with pricey drinks that will blow your mind.As a New Yorker, I am a little ashamed to have never been to a speakeasy. Angels share was my very first experience and it was really enjoyable. The front room was very busy and crowded when I showed up, but the back room was less busy with sofas to sit on.Smoke in your eyes - delicious and esthetic drink. Smoke will literally get in your eyes and nostrils. Strong but smooth.Cheek to cheek - weak, sweet, reminds me of a dessert. Its a yogurt alcoholic drink - my lady friend thought it was the best drink in her life. -

Angels Share is a really cool speak easy spot right above a Japanese restaurant. They have delicious cocktails and my favorite is Smoke Gets In Your Eyes. Had a wonderful time at this speakeasy cocktail bar! Went in right as it opened at 6PM. Got a seat at the bar right away. It was a true pleasure to watch these incredibly professional bartenders work. The bartenders are the epitome of professional. Attentive but not everbearing, precise but not too slow. I highly recomend stopping by if you are looking for a nice cocktail in the mostly beer-and-shot area of St. Marks. -

This is an amazing, if not sort of hard to find, NYC speakeasy above Village Yokocho. The drinks are made fresh & have completely unique flavor profiles. Review 125 (2022-03-21 - Rating: 5)
Mind blowing experience every time I visit! We came in to a line stretching to the door downstairs and the host said its a 3h wait (at 7pm on a sunday). Many people were discouraged and a few left the line and we ended up only waiting for 1h for a table (group of 2). Had 4 drinks - milestone, snowfall, cheek to cheek, and enlighten (the chocolatey one). Milestone is amazing - you can smell the pandan and milk tea but the drink is completely translucent. The whisky base is very faint and the drink is sweet and aromatic. Snowfall is great too - the parmesan foam is super fun and the drink itself is rich without being too creamy. Cheek to cheek is like a cheesecake - the yogurt and mascarpone espuma tastes so amazing and pairs well with the berries alcohol base below. Didnt like the chocolate drink as much - its not as innovative and the alcohol base is a little strong. -

Angels Share has absolutely fantastic cocktails, much better than most of the other artisanal cocktail places in the area. These drinks are absolutely fantastic, cant recommend enough. The only downside is that seating is limited and this is a popular place, so it gets crowded extremely quickly during after work hours. -

Still the favorite speakeasy in a speakeasy-full city. This place is calm and inviting, the drinks are consistently top-notch, the blends interesting, the bartenders knowledgeable and friendly. Its also perfectly set in a yakitori restaurant if youre a wee tipsy after and want something to eat. Its classy interior is a welcome getaway in the East Village neighborhood without being even a bit pretentious. -

A hidden speak easy where the maximum number of guest is 5 or so. Its hidden behind a large Japanese restaurant which isnt bad itself, but the coziness and the atmosphere here is superb. You can order drinks based on the flavors you like and the mixologists to a great job coming up with super cool drinks. Try asking for an earl gray vodka based drink and you wont be disappointed. -

Review 131 (2023-07-10 - Rating: 4)
I eagerly came here with a friend recently, having been fans of the original iteration in the East Village for many years. We arrived at 4:50pm on a Thursday evening, with only a group of three ahead of us. We then proceeded to stand and wait for another 35 minutes for the bar to open, which was unfortunate due to the extremely hot and humid weather that day. It wasnt clear what the delay was, and the group ahead of us attempted to go in around 5:15 only to be sent back out by the host who simply said that they werent ready yet. We finally were welcomed inside nearly 30 minutes after the bar was scheduled to open, and were given seats at the bar.The space itself is very sleek and noticeably larger than the EV original, but with lower ceilings and a larger bar overall. It was nice to see the original mural hanging behind the bar, and the bartenders maintaining the overall classic feel of the establishment. As for the drinks, the menu was extensive, and nearly every cocktail consisted of at least 4-5 ingredients. As expected, they were all very creative, nuanced, and expertly prepared. Between the two of us, we sampled six of the drinks, with the Smoke Gets in Your Eyes and Venceramos being the favorites. I was a little disappointed that nearly all the drinks for this initial opening menu skewed on the lighter, fruitier side, which isnt wholly surprising given the season. However, I would have expected at least a few more spirit-forward offerings, especially given the depth of the menu. All in all, the drinks were interesting and well done, but I was left a little disappointed given the delay in being seated and the lack of spirit-forward options on the menu. -

A not so secret speakesy with some of the best drinks in Manhattan. One of the best bars in NYC, and they make some of the best artisanal cocktails ive ever had. The classic cocktails like the G&T and Old Fashioned are just perfect, which is a sign of a good bar. They can make hard to make drinks too upon request, and they delivered quite well with the Ramos Gin Fizz we ordered. The service may get a bit slow when theyre busy, but the quality does not dip.It is definitely on the pricier side at $15 a cocktail, but it is well deserved for the sheer quality, service and ambiance.I had a 1.5 hour wait, but the Maitre d is very nice, just put your name down and go to any nearby bar for that time. Well worth the wait -

Waited 20 minutes for a table in the back room. It was very cosy and a great intimate environment. The lighting was nice, and the chairs were comfortable. Review 136 (2014-04-10 - Rating: 5)
This is my favorite speakeasy that I have tried in NYC so far, and Ive tried a few (PDT, Death + Co, Back Room, etc.) The reason is the ambiance and the quality of the cocktails. If you have seen any pictures of the establishment, you have seen the impressive mural above the bar setup; you possibly have not seen the view down onto the streets of East Village, the tucked away lounge area in the back, or the entrance through the Village Yokocho restaurant. The drinks are expensive, but each one we have tried was impressive in its own way. The Daahuud was awe-inspiring in its serving, utilizing smoke within the glass for aroma, taste, and atmosphere. Mack the Knife is still my favorite cocktail I have ever tried, so much so that I am in the process of currently infusing gin with oranges at home to try to recreate something that comes close. Some will complain that you cannot have a party of more than four, but I believe that helps to keep the atmosphere: it is not a party room. Going to some other speakeasies at an off-time can ruin the feel of the place, but Angels Share has always stayed true to what it was in my experience. I will be back again several more times. -
Review 137 (2018-08-30 - Rating: 5)
Great speakeasy in the area. Good for a date night, but be aware, the wait can be quite long. Just FYI, its a little cramped as there is predominantly bar and window seating. You will be jostled by people coming in and out as well as the servers on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night. Come earlier in the evening, or on an off night for a more peaceful atmosphere and people watching. -

Hidden away inside of a Japanese restaurant in St. Marks. Expect to wait a bit during popular hours. Tiny little space serving inventive, delicious cocktails. Prices are on par with the other speakeasy style bars in the area. A sister space that is a bit larger is hidden upstairs in another Japanese restaurant down the block, so if you have a larger group, it might be worth it to check out the other location. -

Amazing cocktails. I tried the Speak Softly and their spin on a Dark and Stormy, both of which were sublime. The Speak Softly was flavored with green tea, but the sweetness of the drink kept it perfectly balanced. The Dark and Stormy similarly was wonderfully balanced and complex - rather than being overwhelming, the ginger aspect played well with the rest of the flavors. -

Amazingly inventive cocktails, many of which were almost like desserts (never seen marscarpone in a drink before!). Also had some nice non-sweet drinks you though - I had the Stormy Weather, which was a delicious ginger-based creation. Great service, and wonderfully tucked away on the top floor of a Japanese restaurant. -
Review 155 (2013-05-10 - Rating: 4)
Cool underground speakeasy. This place is perfect for a date or to share a few drinks with a friend. Rather quiet atmosphere (relative to loud bars) will let you freely chat with your friends, but dont forget that theres a 4-people limit per group, so select your friends wisely if you decide to come here. Drinks are very good and creative, although rather expensive, and some of the drinks even get served in a tin cup, making you feel super underground. When you go, be sure to go up the stairs through a japanese restaurant, as Algels share is located on the second floor and there are no signs to the place. So ask the restaurant waiters for directions if you get lost. -

11.14.17 - If you havent been to this unmarked bar that you can clearly see from the street, its inside of Village Yokocho, a yakitori restaurant.I arrived about 10 minutes before opening and was seated almost immediately. However, by 6:40 a line started to form.As for the drinks, I always go for The Evidence with jasmine infused rum, but this is only upon request because its typically made with Earl Grey infused gin. Another cocktail thats engaging both visually and to the palate is Smoke Gets In Your Eyes.***Original Review*** One drink, the Evidence. Bar none, it is the #1 or #2 cocktail bar in NYC. Just go and enjoy. -

One of the most efficient cocktail making machines Ive ever been in. 26 different cocktails and if you ever think youre going unnoticed at any time you havent noticed the surroundings around yourself. Great cocktails and a great time. -

What else can I say? i have been going to Angel Share since 2004 at its older location. Its a New York and well known around the world. The venue may have changed but the drinks, people, atmosphere, talented staff and tenders remain. This relocation is a Ted Talk on how to successfully relocate your bar.Not only that this location is moments away from one of my other favorite bars in the city, EO, I just love what they have done with the interior here. Dark, moody, and still blasting light jazz.More room for the staff, more bar seats and more boof seating. You could argue that the charm of the old place tucked behind the old Village Yokocho Restaurant with limited seating, long lines, and strict entry policies had its charm. I count myself lucky to have experienced both of these wonderful establishments.Recommended Drinks- Smoke Gets in Your Eye - classic!- Ask for their take on an OFKeeping in mind the menu is seasonal, there are staples that stay for the long haul. If you are reading this Early Spring 2024 - try Street Scene. The name says it all! So much is going on with every sip. The matcha hits you first on the front of your tongue and grapefruit, roku gin, and coffee coalesce with the pineapple and sandho and sides of your mouth. Brilliant creation by one of the long standing bartenders here. It has a refreshing quality ti it that makes it a wonderful starter drink that shouldnt be underestimated though.I could go on.One request to the team - It would be nice if you brought back Tea for Two 😌.I would like to say that while the location is a wonderful update, it is not the reason I have kept coming here over the years - its the people that work here. -

Its no longer a secret, but Angels Share is one of the best places to escape the city for a few hours in the company of excellent cocktails. Located in an unmarked door in Village Yokocho, guests have their choice of bar, group, or back room seating (if they can make it past the line). Choose from any of their excellent cocktails, like the Serenity - a beautiful combination of citrus vodka and lychee liquor with lemon juice, rose water, grapefruit, and a dash of citrus and herbs, topped off with a single lychee - or ask for bartenders choice. Service is polite and unintrusive and wont rush you out the door. -

The food and service here was impeccable. Adnan was our server and made us feel so comfortable. The saag tofu and baingan bharta were so fresh, and the food came out in a very timely manner so we could really savor the flavor. Can’t wait to come back! -

Some of the best cocktails in NYC. I got served some special cocktail which the bartender customized as per my taste. Awesome, nice for a catch up drink with your friend as well as a date night. -

Intimate, cozy, and really busy. Even on a Tuesday night, it fills up by 10pm; service can get a little slow, but theyre usually on top of things and very polite. Delicious drinks, but a little heavy on the wallet ($15 minimum).Come here earlier on a weekday with a date. Get the Snowball. Its off the menu, only $13, and tastes like heaven (aka orange creamsicle) with a deceiving amount of bourbon. My kinda spot. ;o) -

Some of the best cocktails in the city and much less busy than other speakeasies in the city. They also do a good job of keeping the number of people at the bar in check so if you get in you wont feel crowded. -

This Asain speakeasy located near St. Marks is a nice treat for those who like their cocktails with a touch if whimsy and intrigue. This posh spot is covered in warm wood finishing complete with an angel mural over the bar that lends to the bars name, angels share a nod to the amount of whiskey lost during the whiskey barreling process. Yamasaki, a Japanese whiskey, happens to be my ultimate fave when it comes to the brown liquors but the entire menu is a smorgasbord of delicious cocktails to suit a variety of palettes! A fun place to hit up for the drink lover in your life. -

When it comes to specialized cocktails, you will not find a better place than here. Meticulous mixologists here have perfected their skills and will deliver distinctive cocktails with amazing taste and presentation. The drinks are worth every dollar. If you want something cheap, stick to the basic well drinks. If you want to stimulate your taste buds and to appreciate the different flavoring in cocktails, give this a try. Come early to not wait. There will be a wait during peak hours. -

One of the best cocktail bars in the city. Come with 4 or fewer people as large groups are not accepted, nor reservations. On the weekends gets extremely crowded, I prefer coming here for a weeknight drink.
