One of the the SINGLE MOST METICULOUS bar setups since Double Chicken Please. The cocktail program is unparalleled to anything weve ever seen. Greg, our bartender this evening at the island was an incredible resource to great cocktails & a phenomenal experience. The whole venue exudes professionalim whilst remaining true to the guest experience by not feeling pretentious. If you haven’t been here, get down here NOW! -

What this bar is trying to accomplish is the next step on culinary forward bars in NYC.To best describe the concept of this bar is...imagine a chefs table at a high end tasting menu restaurant, but for a bar. The island bar setup where bartenders meticulously create drinks using Japanese hard-shake style of Double Chicken Please pedigree, have nowhere to hide. They can only show and, show they do.But unlike the DCP, the menu is not stagnant & predictable to serve as advertisement to tourists chasing clout, nor does it play safe to please multinational conglomerate-backed top lists & publications. The people that work here are proud of the amount of R&D work and execution that goes into your drink. They are hungry and not afraid of experimentation to evolve.Easily one of the best bars in the city and should be on everyones radar. I am happy with my experience at this bar and I am thirsty for more in the future. -

Very solid cocktail bar in LES. Love the vibe of the space and creativity of their cocktails. Friendly service.Wouldn’t necessarily come for the food - good not great - but before or after dinner cocktails are a great move regardless. -

I recently visited Chinato and was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere there is fantastic, offering a welcoming and comfortable setting for a night out with friends or a romantic date. The service is impeccable, with attentive and knowledgeable staff always ready to assist. What sets Chinato apart is their modern take on classic cocktails. They offer a delightful fusion of tradition and innovation, crafting drinks that pay homage to beloved classics while adding a contemporary twist. Its a place to unwind, savor exceptional cocktails, and enjoy top-notch service. If youre seeking a bar with a fantastic environment, great service, and creative spins on classic cocktails, Chinato is the place to be. Definitely can’t wait to come back!! -
Review 13 (2023-10-24 - Rating: 5)
Dimly lit and chill bar with a mysterious atmosphere and innovative selection of cocktails. My favorites were the gin & juice and the rock salt & nails (if youre into mezcal). I can definitely see this bar gaining way more traction in the future so if anything, now is a great time to pick up a reservation before too many people know about it. I highly recommend it and will definitely return -

Must go spot - tried several drinks and was blown away every time. Not typically into gin but everything is so perfectly balanced you can order anything and it will be outstanding. Fantastic food to accompany the ig worthy drinks as well - loved the prawns and mushrooms. A++ hospitality as well! -
Review 16 (2024-02-08 - Rating: 5)
Everything went great during my visit! Chinato has a very discreet look from the outside, but this sober appearance gives way to a sophisticated room with a centerpiece bar and geometric decor. Drinks were fantastically well made (I especially recommend the Chinato and the Gin & Juice), and service was impeccable. Id recommend making a reservation or visiting during less busy weekdays. -
Review 17 (2023-12-01 - Rating: 5)
Great cocktails/mocktails and bar food dishes along with a nice relaxed ambiance. There was music but it wasnt loud like regular bars. It felt more like a lounge. I found the fries on the salty side. The fried mushrooms were quite good. The mango dessert was delicious as well. Will definitely return! -
Review 18 (2023-12-29 - Rating: 5)

Review 19 (2024-11-08 - Rating: 5)
I really liked this place! The service was excellent and the drinks were interesting and unique. Would totally come back to try more.We came in at 8pm on a Thursday and got seated with no reservation. They give you a complimentary small glass of Riesling which was a fun way to start the night. Some of the drinks have an edible element (like a chocolate or fruit leather) which adds to the mixology experience. The prices were really fair for the area and the quality. The vibe is more industrial and urban rather than cozy/sexy, but it’s not so loud that you can’t hear a conversation. It is a nice place for a group to go, and the chairs were really comfortable for a cocktail bar.100% recommend visiting! -

One of the best bars in New York city Opened by the cocktail guru ray zang, Ill be surprised if this place doesnt end up on a top 50 list. Chinato is definitely worth a visit if your a fan of experimental type cocktails. If your anywhere in Manhattan and looking for a cocktail bar this is the one to go out of your way and find. -
Review 21 (2024-06-07 - Rating: 5)
Tyler is one of the best bartenders I’ve met for sure. The drinks were great. If you want to know more about my thought: there are two kinds of good bartenders in the world. The first ones run their business no more than business, like ATM machines. The second portion takes pride of their creativity like artists, who create experiences, by brainstorming and experimenting for the best combinations of ingredients, and by impressing people with their passion. This bar falls into the second category. -

Our drink selections:1) From Eden, a sweet and refreshing concoction for anyone seeking a light, sweet, and enjoyable beverage2) Wintering, a rich chocolate drink reminiscent of a tootsie roll, perfect for indulging in chocolate cravings (with a chocolate wafer on top!)The menu at Chinato reflects the artistry of a seasoned bartender who took many years to develop their craft. During Lunar New Year, Chinato had specialty drink offerings, adding a touch of festive elegance to the experience. The atmosphere here is undeniably elegant and inviting. Its dimly-lit lights and candle-lit table set the stage for intimate conversations...and the servers excel in their craft, guiding me through the drink menu and its flavors.Even at a higher price-point, Chinato earns my highest recommendation for its exquisite drinks, evolving menu, and inviting ambiance. Its a must-visit spot for anyone seeking a memorable higher end dining experience! -

Review 25 (2024-04-05 - Rating: 5)
Chinato is prob my new favorite cocktail bar. It’s impossible to get into DCP these days but this is a great alternative in the neighborhood. Actually, perhaps it’s unfair to call it an “alternative”, because Chinato stands on its own! Super inventive drinks, the people concocting these are definitely mad geniuses (in a good way). -
Review 26 (2024-02-12 - Rating: 5)
Exceptional service. All around attention to details. Flavor layers for days. Consider me a fan. Should also mention that its fun to watch the bartenders work in their theatre in the round style mid room bar. Date spot. Business spot. Cocktail spot. Get the frog legs. -

Opened in October 2023 by founder Guoxin “Ray” Zhou, Chinato is one of the hottest new openings in New York. Zhou opened Chinato, with a name inspired by Barolo Chinato, the aromatized wine from Piedmont renowned for its bittersweet aromatic qualities derived from a blend of herbs and spices. However, the name comes from than just Zhou’s love for Barolo Chinato - Chinato cleverly combines China and to”, reflecting Zhou’s Chinese upbringing and journey to NY, which he aims to celebrate with his new bar. What sets Chinato apart from other bars in bustling New York is that is much more than a place to have a well-made cocktail. Its interior design, featuring a central island design with no front or back, encourages interaction between bartenders and guests, creating an immersive and inviting space ideal for sparking conversations. The opening cocktail menu takes inspiration from music. “Tequila” was taken from the 1958 song of the same name performed The Champs. The recipe for this uniquely Mexican drink was inspired by a recent trip of Chinato’s chef, and features tequila reposado, tomato, yellow pepper, pineapple, habanero, corn, and lime. The ingredients are shaken and strained in a coupette and served with a crispy pork jerky. -

This place is really amazing! The service, food and drinks are great. If you are looking for next level cocktails, youve found the right place. Im sad that once people realize how good this place is, its going to be impossible to get a reservation here. -
Review 36 (2023-09-25 - Rating: 5)
Received reservations for the soft opening of Chinato headed by Ray Zhou, formerly of Double Chicken Please (DCP). Incredible cocktails, awesome ambiance, quality craftsmanship, and excellent service!Of the 6 cocktails we sampled, in order the Tequila, Floating, Rum and Coke, Sugar Mama, Gin and Juice, and Chinato. The Tequila cocktail was out of this world. The various layers of flavors were a unique sensory experience ranging from a bit of a kick to a subtle sweetness. Incredible cocktail. The Floating and Rum and Coke were a close tie for us. The Floating received the slight edge over the Rum and Coke - the pandan itself propelled the Floating over the Rum and Coke, but R&C was a phenomenal cocktail in and of itself.Every single cocktail was exceptional. What a great experience, and I almost guarantee that this establishment will become the next hot cocktail bar in NYC. Im looking forward to visiting again and also seeing them crack the top 50 bars in the world eventually! -

Review 43 (2024-06-14 - Rating: 5)
This place is such a vibe. Stumbled across it after grabbing some food and what a find! The waiter was friendly and very professional. She told us everything about each drink and asked us if we had any allergies prior, very attentive. I’ve seen bartender make drinks but this guy had to be a mixologist. The precision, the accuracy, wow. The drinks themselves 10/10. Very smooth. The atmosphere was great, very intimate and classy. No TVs or loud music which I loved! It was like a private hideaway. Perfect spot for an after spot after a date or a small gathering of friends/family -
