The fat Buddha cocktail was the best cocktail I’ve ever had. The food was so yummy and our waitress was lovely. It’s a little hard to find because it’s behind a cafe.

  • Review 2 (2024-05-19 - Rating: 5)

Accommodated my large group last minute, staff was super friendly, took our orders quickly, and the drinks were great. Let us take up the couch and standing room in the back. Was perfect spot for barhopping on my birthday, and was fun to be able to take my out of town friends to a speakeasy. They gave me an extra drink since it was my birthday too! Thank you so much for having us! Will be back and will be recommending!

Great bar with solid food. The wings here are really delicious. Staff isn’t the friendliest but the music makes up for it. Decent happy hour specials and conveniently located on 14th Street and Avenue A. It usually gets busy later in the evening. Try the Buddha Beer. The Passionrita is also real nice.

  • Review 4 (2018-04-04 - Rating: 4)

It is a great experience. Dont let the outside deter you. Its a great atmosphere and really great food. The seats are set arlund the bar. It has an assortment of Korean cuisine. The dragon wings are especially delightful. Any entre is a great choice. They also have great drinks and cocktails. The only thing is that there a wait between ordering your food and getting the plate, but overall a great choice to go and enjoy yourself.

  • Review 5 (2019-11-12 - Rating: 4)

Finally checked out this spot and had a good time. The music was good and so were the drinks

  • Review 6 (2017-08-22 - Rating: 4)

The venue is large but the bar takes up a majority of it. There is a dance floor, a the way at the back. the DJ is good, you can definitely bump to their music choices. Theres a good variety of food there that is Korean style.

  • Review 7 (2018-08-15 - Rating: 5)

Must make it a point to visit again. When we got there it was super crowded and hard to get to the bar to order. As the night wind down we found a spot by the bar and decided to stay there. The bartenders were awesome (our group drinks a lot) and even gave/had a shot with me before we left.

  • Review 8 (2016-01-23 - Rating: 5)

Great drinks. Great food. Great music. Great vibes. Good prices too. If youre looking for a cool place to unwind, definitely give this place a look. Has become a favorite for coworkers and I after long days work.

  • Review 9 (2019-02-03 - Rating: 4)

3 tables and huge bar in the center of the room. They have to have more chairs, coz people are coming a lot of space everywhere but no chairs.Food was delicious loved the soy chicken bites! I didnt check if they have delivery, Id go there one more time just for them))Drinks are average.DJ was nice! People were packed on that quite small dance floor.Overall good for ppl from 21 till 28 I think ))4 stars coz dude that works there literally took my chair when I was eating and drinking on bar with my friends, saying to many ppl we have to make more space. And he did this only with one side of bar. Consider this very rude and unprofessional. #localspot

  • Review 10 (2018-03-29 - Rating: 5)

We always come through here when we want to dance. If you’re lucky an OG hip hop head rolls through to perform or spin. The food is excellent and the staff is great. We love Fat Buddha. 💕

  • Review 11 (2014-08-14 - Rating: 4)

I was at a loss for what to drink, and the bartender was nice enough to make a suggestion and offer me a sample. Dont get the buddha beer unless you like beer-flavored water. Theres plenty of bar space with the serving area in the middle and seating along all 4 sides. Tables are available in the back too if you want to get a large group together for some early drinking before the DJ turns up the volume and the tables & chairs are removed for late night dancing. Free coat and bag check is available, and the bouncers make sure you make use of it.

  • Review 12 (2024-06-07 - Rating: 5)

It was a great space with an awesome atmosphere that was both cozy and intimate. The hidden door direct really helped make it a vibe and an experience as a first timer plus the staff was very respectful and attentive which was awesome. I would definitely recommend as a good pregame spot, small friends night out, or even a date night for those looking for a cozy spot to get a drink and dance a bit

  • Review 13 (2016-11-01 - Rating: 4)

Cheap drinks and good live DJ. The party gets lit on Saturdays but be warned - the venue is small. Arrive early and dress trendy; door can be challenging late.

  • Review 14 (2016-11-19 - Rating: 4)

Love this place for great hip hop and r & b. They play real hip hop. Lychee martinis are yummy and I love their Korean food. Gotta try the Bulgogi fries. So yums. Portion is not that big so you might need 2 for large groups. Also their vegetarian buns are surprisingly so yummy. Taste better than their meat buns

  • Review 15 (2019-03-05 - Rating: 4)

Cozy spot, good music. I wished they made this general cho dish with white meat. Drinks are strong The incense they use is,,, intoxicating. lolI caught a set from Maseo from De La soul. A mixed genre set. The Female bartenders were helpful. The dude with beard wasnt. Thats kool. Im into ladies helping me anyway.

  • Review 16 (2018-09-24 - Rating: 4)

Satisfactory place. I went for the happy hour. The sliders was what I ordered and they were tasty.I also ordered the lychee martini. They were quaint and ok. For 6 not bad. Couldnt imagine ordering them outside of happy hour. No way. One was made horribly and super weak and one was made really well. Two were okay.It being happy hour made this whole thing passable. Service was cool and the food was tasty.I would return tho.

  • Review 17 (2018-12-30 - Rating: 5)

LIT turnout after 11pm. There is a long bar in the front and a dance floor in the back. The drinks are not cheap but wont knock you over the head in prices. The music is always modern hip-hop with a little throwbacks mixed in. You will be waiting in a line if u come after midnight.

  • Review 18 (2018-02-11 - Rating: 4)

This is based on a Saturday night, girls night out (we are 30+). $5 cover charge was reasonable, coat check available. Bar does take up most of the space, but we were just there to dance so we headed to the back where the DJ is. Music was pretty good. We expected more 90s hip hop, but thats how the DJ started and then it was more current pop/hip hop. Mostly all was dance-able. Here are some song examples: Poison (Bell Biv DeVoe), Cheap Thrills (Sia), Party Up (DMX), Move B*tch, (Ludacris), Phenomena (LL Cool J), Wild Thoughts (Rihanna), Like Glue and Get Busy (Sean Paul), Stronger (Kanye), 24 Karat Magic (Bruno), Back that Ass up (Juvenile), some Drake songs. He started some reggae songs like Murder She Wrote, but didnt always finish those. A good time, but nothing by Snoop, Dre, Nate Dogg, Diddy, Notorious Big, Jay Z, or J Lo. For us, the search continues for a true 90s hip/hop bar.

  • Review 19 (2019-02-04 - Rating: 5)

I have been going to Fat Buddha consistently over the last year and a half and would recommend to anyone looking for a casual bar hangout with great Korean/asian food. When you walk in the bar is gigantic and occupies the vast majority of the space with some seating scattered all around. On Fridays and the weekend their is usually a DJ playing music. If you want to go to a place and hangout this is a great spot, but if you are on a first date this will probably be a little to loud.Lets talk about the food, I really enjoy going to fat Buddha because the food and the good pricing during happy hour. I usually eat the dolsot bimbimbap and shrimp mandoos. Both are always amazing and they always leave me wanting more. I have tried the Buddha bun and dragon fries which are also very good. Ive been wanting to try the wings and calamari but have not gotten around to it yet because I love the other options so much.In terms of drinks, they have decent drink specials and the bar tenders make strong drinks. I tend to get pretty good service whenever I go to fat Buddha with the caveat I tend to go early and arent here when going out crowd has arrived.Overall, this is just a nice hangout spot with surprisingly good food.#happyhour #localspot #livemusic

  • Review 20 (2013-10-14 - Rating: 4)

Fat Buddha is a cool hip hop bar and lounge with surprisingly good Chinese and Korean food. Now its not the type of well balanced Chinese food menu that you would expect from a full restaurant, but they have great bar snacks and some bigger dishes (Miso Salmon, Bibimbap bowls, etc.). Their pork buns are great. They are made with pulled pork rather than pork belly, which makes for a meatier but slightly less juicy experience. Its very good. Their chicken wings are crispy and perfect as are their short ribs. Phenomenal. Great place for a night out with friends in a lively (read slightly loud) environment or to watch a sports game with great hip hop..

  • Review 21 (2017-11-21 - Rating: 4)

This place was so much fun! It was very crowded which was the downside of it all. One of the bouncers though saw that the people were pushing way too much and so he came and stood right in the middle of the dance floor which calmed the pushing and shoving lol.

  • Review 22 (2019-01-12 - Rating: 5)

Really liked the place, music is awesome and drinks are solid. I didnt get a chance to try the food but will next time. Place has a real nice ambience to it

  • Review 23 (2016-06-15 - Rating: 4)

The mood inside was very cool and laid back. DJ inside playing (spinning?) all kinds of music, hip-hop, house, mashups (mashitup!). The food is a Korean-mix style with chicken wings, different types of fries, buns, desserts and of course there is a bar.My friends and I dont drink much and came for the music and some food. We shared an order of sweet potato fries and got a side of spicy mayo for dipping. We enjoyed ourselves. We also got an order of buns which gets you three pieces of either pork, beef, or soy chicken (not actual chicken, soy based faux chicken). I dont eat for legged animals so we shared the soy chicken buns. They were very tasty and though they didnt need it I added some of the delicious and liquidy spicy mayo. They do card you when you go so, Im guessing you gotta be 21+ to get in, maybe you can still partake in just eating? We also shared the honey garlic chicken wings. Tasty and messy. Id like some carrots and celery to add to the value of the wings. 6 pieces for $10? hmm. They were good Ill say that.We did do some dancing as there was space and my friends make their living shaking their bonbons (friend for candy, American for booties).Slip in eat, dance and be merry. Oh and I will return they have some interesting desserts that I want to try.Enjoy!

  • Review 24 (2020-02-17 - Rating: 4)

They gave us Valentine’s champagne and chocolates. DJ was great

  • Review 25 (2015-10-22 - Rating: 4)

The bibimap and the Buns with beef were awesome. Those are the two r things I would get again. Staff was very accommodating for me and my son and my stroller they give us the back corner table before it started to rowdy

  • Review 26 (2015-12-18 - Rating: 4)

I just loved it. The happy hour is excellent wings and okay beer. The space is cool. The bartenders are cool. The vibe is cool. The crowd is cool. It all works.

  • Review 27 (2019-03-18 - Rating: 5)

One of NYCs best bars. Great for and drinks... cool spot

  • Review 28 (2015-09-24 - Rating: 4)

Theres always something happening at Fat Buddha. I know this because theyre very active on social media, which I always appreciate from an establishment. There are some Korean elements in the menu, such as their bulgogi fries (Definitely order) Cass Beer (Do NOT order) and their kimchi back shots.

    Nice atmosphere, good drinks

  • Review 37 (2018-07-20 - Rating: 5)

Oh fat budda. Ive been coming here for years. Its my to-go local bar. They serve great food before 10pm and its not your typical bar food. Its good korean/fusion type food. Go early for food and happy hour. If you dont like a large crowd i would not recommend going on a thurs-sat late night. Also they have a cover on fri-sat after a certain time. I love the staff here. Theyre all friendly. The music is also good.

  • Review 38 (2017-02-08 - Rating: 4)

Only stopped in for a few drinks. Hip-hop heavy playlist, but enjoyably so. Very quiet on a Wednesday during happy hour. Not the cheapest happy hour around, but glasses were clean and the place did not smell like bar cleaner. FTW!I will definitely come back and try the food.

  • Review 68 (2020-01-19 - Rating: 4)

Remember when this place had a giant bar in the middle? Huge improvement since then. The lighting has improved tremendously and its much more akin to a sleek lounge. Definitely a fun place with a young crowd. They kept the dance floor in the back with the holy buddha. Plays a good mix of hip hop and club music. Drinks are fairly priced. Small cover + free coat check

  • Review 80 (2013-03-27 - Rating: 4)

Some of the best happy hour prices in the LES, including on weekends. You can sit for a while and have a pretty chill time as the bar doesnt get too crowded until late. Once the crowds come in though, its generally shoulder to shoulder with the sort of annoying 20somethings I can only hang around when Ive had as much to drink as the rest of the crowd.

  • Review 81 (2016-07-13 - Rating: 5)

Awesome food. fat beats. sweet deals.

  • Review 82 (2011-10-31 - Rating: 5)

Like everyone has said get the Pork Buns...Also get something, anything with the Dragon Sauce on it. Its Buffalo Wing sauce with the perfect balance of burn vs. flavor. Otherwise great music, Kirin on tap and great drink specials...You can sit at the bar in the round or at one of the tables towards the back..Suited for larger as well as small groups and doesnt get to loud to hold a conversation.

  • Review 92 (2014-09-09 - Rating: 4)

Fat Buddha is small but has great music, anything from the top 40s to throwback songs. The bar area is circular with stools all around, a few tables in the back, but mostly standing/dancing young folks. This is mostly a Korean bar, so if you are looking for diversity, youre not going to find it here. Go early and youll still be able to hear your friend at the bar.

  • Review 93 (2018-01-24 - Rating: 5)

You need to eat drink and dance here STAT

  • Review 94 (2015-01-19 - Rating: 4)

I can only speak of nightlife, but I had a great experience at the Fat Buddha! The venue is pretty small and fills up SUPER quick. And the layout is definitely interesting. When you enter, theres a giant bar smack right in the middle of the establishment with a small dancefloor towards the back with the dj booth up at top. In big crowds, you may find yourself having to push through tight spaces. The music consisted of a lot of Top 40 and Top Hits which was great. Then randomly it transitions to old school hip hop which was an interesting surprise. A lot of 20-30 somethings go here... its a pretty young crowd. Drink prices arent too bad... make sure to check out the happy hour!

Now this place right here gets BUMPING! its mainly a Korean bar so expect alot of jameson to be poured. when its full it gets crowded AF so also prepare to sweat. the crowd is mainly nice and the body guards make sure to keep the crowd under control.

  • Review 108 (2013-08-25 - Rating: 4)

Great venue, music was good. I enjoy that the bar is in the center of the venue, meaning youre always pretty close to the drinks so you dont have to go all the way into some corner to order a drink.

  • Review 109 (2016-10-28 - Rating: 5)

They charge guys 10$ at the door and girls 5$. I guess its too keep it classy ( or at least A$ian) .The crowd is 95% Asians ( chinese ?) but the music is what i come for. Great hip hop throw backs and as the night gets later it turns all the way up

  • Review 113 (2014-10-24 - Rating: 5)

This bar is super cool! I came here for my sisters bday and they were so accommodating and all around awesome. The waitress was really nice and attentive, even when part of the party didnt show. The food is good. They move the tables around 10pm to create a dancefloor. Also, free coat check! Woo.The drinks are a bit watered down, but its all good. The barstaff is pretty good though, considering its in the middle of the bar and they have to attend to so many people. The music is awesome with a capital A. They play you regular top 40, but for the most part, is straight hip hop. Im talking old school Biggie, Jay Z, LL Cool J hip hop. So, yeah , I danced my butt off all night! They do charge 5 dollars after 11pm, but its totally worth it.Definitely coming back again soon!

Good music for sure, the crowd is weird though, like.... The emo kids from high school decided to grow up and look less emo but still carry all the baggage.

  • Review 133 (2017-08-15 - Rating: 5)

The DJ was great! The service was fast even though the bar was crowded.

  • Review 134 (2016-03-09 - Rating: 4)

I like this place as a restaurant but not so much as a bar. Late night the music tastes gets too mainstream and the crowd becomes a sea of pimped out white people grinding against each other
