Intimate spot for some good cocktails, especially the martinis. Liked the peated martini, but the most memorable one for me was the seasonal passion punch drink. Very attentive staff.

Came here on a late week night - sat in the table behind the bar but got to see the whole making of the drinks and got to enjoy your private time. Love how creative the cocktails were, I tried the ume sour plum whiskey base cocktail with Yukari on the side which reminded me of back home! The Maia yuzu base cocktail was delicious as well. Definitely coming back to try other selections

Top tier cocktail bar. I was on a bit of cocktail trip through NYC - hitting up this place, Double Chicken Please, Attaboy, Superbueno, among a couple others over a couple days and this was my favorite. Creative and delicious cocktails. Wonderfully helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommend and Im looking forward to coming back on my next trip to NYC.

  • Review 4 (2024-05-12 - Rating: 4)

One of the top 50 global cocktail spots. The bar tenders carefully crafted beautiful cocktails. The atmosphere was really nice, almost a time travel back to the past. I really appreciated that they respected the history of the building that Martiny’s is in, namely a former carriage building. The food and service overall were quite good.

  • Review 5 (2024-12-14 - Rating: 4)

Lovely atmosphere, creative menu, great cocktails. They lost a star bc the fellow serving me was too pushy - trying to talk me out of my order. Im happy for a recommendation if I ask (which I didnt) but each time I ordered he suggested something completely different. On the one hand, I tried some cocktails with flavor profiles beyond my usuals (Manhattan/Old Fashioned etc). The Caprese and Maia were both very refreshing & balanced. But I noticed the guy bullying the ladies next to me on their order, to the point that all of us were trying to avoid him and order with someone else. Which just isnt something I expect at a bar of this caliber.

One of my favorite cocktail bars in NY. Top hospitality from all the team. I got a seat at the bar and theres also a lounge upstairs. Cocktails are delicious, with high quality ingredients and perfect execution. My favorite was the Tea Ceremony from their signature drinks. I also had some food and it was really good. Highly recommended if you are into bars and fine drinking.

  • Review 7 (2024-04-18 - Rating: 5)

Amazing experience in this beautiful bar!Service was great, food delicious and cocktails mind blowing!Great Japanese whiskey selection, and a beautiful bar just for whiskey soda, upstairs. They recently had the guys from Jigger and Pony (Singapore) to take over the bar for a night.

  • Review 8 (2024-12-30 - Rating: 4)

2024: 1st time here. Very relaxing. Decent drinks. Would definitely return.

  • Review 9 (2024-07-14 - Rating: 4)

The drinks are great. I had the B&B Gibson which is a strong and very well done martini. Service is okay, waiters are nice but they make you feel like your time is limited and they want you to leave. The atmosphere is very laid back.

  • Review 10 (2024-02-03 - Rating: 5)

Ive been to a lot of top rated bars. This really did something different. From the food to the drinks to the service. I loved every second. Also every cocktail I ordered had a multi step process to enjoying it which kept it creative but also altered the beverage you were consuming. Incredible 10/10.

  • Review 11 (2024-12-17 - Rating: 5)

Coming in on the Worlds 50 Best List is no easy feat, but Takuma & his team consistently provide a warm, wonderful experience with thoughtful preparation & a mastery of flavor combinations rarely found elsewhere.Every single point of contact in the venue has been tastefully crafted & each guests needs are anticipated rather than responded to. This by definition is the very example of forward thinking hospitality.Having thoroughly enjoyed the oysters & caviar as well as a few Martinis, the entire experience was nothing short of magical.

  • Review 12 (2024-10-25 - Rating: 5)

I have never been to a please like this, the Cocktails what so amazing and I was a person who hates oysters but from now on, I think I love oysters!

  • Review 13 (2024-02-09 - Rating: 5)

Found my favorite cocktail bar in NYC! We got reservations in the upstairs lounge which was cozy yet spacious. It was bright enough to see the people you are with and quiet enough to hear them! The drinks were sooooo good! Started off with the Caprese and moved onto other such as the Tea Ceremony and the Tiramsu. Their version of the mule was delightful. The highlight was the blue cheese sake martini - I could drink these all night!!!

  • Review 14 (2024-03-22 - Rating: 5)

What a phenomenal experience. No wonder it’s one of the top bars and has made it on lists. It’ll continue to climb I’m sure. Recommend making reservations as walking in is hard and space is not too big inside. The drinks are amazing, complex and just so delicious. You can’t really go wrong. I tried the orangiette and the maia. Some of the best drinks in the city and seeing as the owners from Angels share, it makes sense bc I miss that bar so much. The food is also what got me too. I already had dinner but I regret eating dinner bc I should’ve just waited and ate here instead. The uni, tartare are absolutely to die for. It’s set a new standard for me and I’m honestly spoiled by the experience. Definitely coming back.

  • Review 15 (2023-09-11 - Rating: 5)

A classy date night ambiance (lots of ladies companies and couples) and meticulously crafted cocktails. They skew towards harder liquors. So after two drinks I already was tipsy and then had a headache till the rest of the night (but it is my fault of mixing). Mole Granada is a must try, comes with 2 different tastes in one and is visually pretty. The Watermelon Brulee has a burnt sugar foam on top, which was a bit too sweet. The Grand Martini is their twist of a classic one, very interesting olive aftertaste if you are into martinis (I am not). Three Little Words is the best refreshing cocktail I ever had.The first floor is mainly bar+ 3-4 tables, upstairs (was pretty empty from 6-8pm on Friday) has a swanky loungy vibe of a private club. Overall great experience, will be back.

One of my fav bars in the city.We finally, I got a reservation for a party of 3.Tried multiple martinis and different cocktails.loved each of them (matcha one was a star). They have a small space but very well accommodated people.Altho one remark I felt, one of the server kept pushing us to order drinks while I was going through the menu, which I felt was little pushy of him.

  • Review 17 (2024-04-11 - Rating: 5)

Fantastic cocktails, great service and cool vibe. on the higher end of prices but worth it for a perfectly crafted martini. any drink you get, you’ll be happy. sister bar to l’americana. go on a weekday to avoid big crowds. have you leaving, dreaming of their martinis !

  • Review 18 (2023-01-31 - Rating: 4)

1.30.23 - chance resy for a repeat and we sat upstairs this time with the same bartender, Ethan, who made our cocktails the last time. What a fun night with conversations with people who remember the cocktail scene in the late aughts and 10s.1.13.23 - the space is very inviting and nostalgic to Angel’s Share. We had five cocktails, four from the menu one created by Ethan, who was very easy to talk to and seemed to enjoy his craft. We didn’t eat any food, but what food was ordered by others looked and smelled fantastic. The staff is very kind and attentive, while the owner always seemed to exist simultaneously in his own world and in the present.I would have asked for a drink from Angel’s Share’s menu, but that would have seem inappropriate and I doubt they had the ingredients to do so.Not sure if pictures were allowed so I have none to share.

  • Review 19 (2022-07-10 - Rating: 5)

What an amazing experience I had with this place. I heard many consumers complaining about their price, but after you experience their cocktails you would think differently. The experience does not only come from what it’s on the menu, but I had a shiver after ordering one of my favorite cocktail “Ramos Gin Fizz” which was not on the menu. The bartender was nice enough to create the cocktail and deliver it to me. The food quality was decent, and well enough to harmonize with the cocktails you taste. The only downside I see from this place is extremely limited space in a small cozy place.

  • Review 20 (2022-06-01 - Rating: 5)

Dramatic and amazing cocktails! From the bartenders of Angels Share, theyve brought their expertise and care for making delicious cocktails to this beautiful new spot. Its sure to get super popular so come early to get a seat at the bar and watch the bartenders work their magic up close. Drinks are on the pricy side, but likely won’t find similar cocktails anywhere else.

  • Review 21 (2024-01-02 - Rating: 5)

Unique, high-end cocktails and food. We are still talking about the Chicken Karaage! Attentive, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Cozy, homey, intimate atmosphere. Plan ahead and make a reservation!

  • Review 22 (2022-07-10 - Rating: 5)

This is a special kind of cocktail bar, of the level that doesnt come around often. The craft that goes into each drink is apparent, as is the creativity and ingenuity. The food also impresses. For those that complain about the price, they fail to see the high quality of spirits used in each cocktail along with the technique that is required to develop such interesting and new flavors, not to mention the hand crafted ingredients they have developed in house. Will be returning again and again for the cocktails and the service.

  • Review 23 (2023-06-19 - Rating: 5)

Quite the upscale place with amazing service. They were able to seat walk-ins, but I do get the feeling that they prefer reservations. The upstairs vibe is very cozy! The drinks themselves were quite tasty, the martini being a bit sweeter than a usual martini but still wonderful in its own way. Would come again but maybe to sit at the bar and to get a different drink!

  • Review 24 (2023-03-09 - Rating: 4)

Loved the matcha tea ceremony and the scallops! The other two items were just not for me - the caviar did little to lessen the fried oil taste which overpowering everything. Would be open to returning for other things on the menu but not in a rush.

  • Review 25 (2022-09-30 - Rating: 5)

My favorite bar on a recent NYC trip! The location and atmosphere are sophisticated, and the menu is curated to a very fine selection of drinks and small plates. My party nearly ordered everything on the menu as it all was so gorgeous and delicious! Very fine attention is paid to the quality and presentation of the drinks and food.

  • Review 26 (2023-11-24 - Rating: 5)

Martinys, an incredible cocktail bar with a Japanese twist, was established by a Japanese enthusiast with a strong penchant for martinis. Stepping into the bar, it transported me back to the ambiance of a classic Japanese cafe, known as a Kissaten, where every server donned a bowtie and waistcoat uniform. Their cocktails are a delightful blend of Japanese inspiration. With both a permanent and seasonal menu, theres a wide variety to explore.

  • Review 27 (2023-09-30 - Rating: 5)

Truly a 5-star service by Pew and Takuma, as always. Amazing selection of cocktails with a new seasonal menu available. Deserving of the best new bar award. Foods available are very tasty too and quite unique.

  • Review 28 (2024-05-28 - Rating: 5)

Great first time experience in Martiny’s!! Love the white grasshopper, macha ceremony, and the waygu sando👍We will definitely come back~

  • Review 29 (2023-08-05 - Rating: 5)

Interesting drinks and an even more eclectic small bites menu! HOKKAIDO Uni was delicious. The vibe is Japanese American chic. Reservations seem needed and expect upmarket prices.

  • Review 30 (2024-07-13 - Rating: 4)

Big budget cocktail bar with an intricate selection of freshly made cocktails and a layout conducive of a date night/small get together. The drinks are some of the more expensive in the city though so be ready to open the wallet. $20-30 a drink. 4/5 stars as a date spot.

  • Review 31 (2024-08-10 - Rating: 5)

Cozy hidden spot. The staff were all very kind and into the mixology vibe. Would definitely go back.

  • Review 32 (2022-04-30 - Rating: 5)

Walk-in during soft opening, there was a line and we put our name down to return after an hour. The cocktails here are phenomenal! We especially loved tea ceremony, caprese, and the melon salado. Snacks are also great, the jamon iberico is heavenly!

  • Review 33 (2023-07-02 - Rating: 5)

Good selection of cocktails & spirits. Mocktails tasted way better than I expected too. Ice game is elite. Definitely worth the premium price.

  • Review 34 (2023-03-20 - Rating: 5)

Absolutely my new favorite cocktail bar in the city. Takuma has done an amazing job crafting a cocktail menu full of novel mixtures and experiences. I highly recommend the Saffron, a white Negroni paired with a bite of honeycomb on the side. If you’re looking for a quick snack, the Hokkaido Uni is truly a special delight.Service and presentation are impeccable. Sitting at the bar on the first floor is always a treat as you get a front row seat to the bartenders making the drinks, and Takuma is pleasure to talk to. The dim interior combined with the brick and wood aesthetics provide for an enjoyable, intimate atmosphere. Drinks are a bit on the pricier side (averaging $25-$30), but are certainly worth the price.

  • Review 35 (2023-04-18 - Rating: 5)

Before going here, I thought I wasnt a fan of cocktails. This experience changed my mind completely. I believe that, were I to live in NYC, I would become a regular. We had four cocktails, all of them made in front of us by whom we think is the main bartender. Her movements were mesmerizing, with such precision and grace that it made us feel as if we were watching a contemporary dance performance. The host who was at the front door, and then taking good care of us and all the patrons, was also amazingly friendly and professional. Then, the cocktails themselves. Their signature cocktail, Grand Martinys, is the best cocktail I had in my entire 40+ years of tasting alcoholic beverages. The aroma is amazing, the taste a eye-opening surprise, and the experience of biting the sweet grape inside while I still have the slightly bitter mouthfeel of the liquid is out of this world. No Martini in it.We also tasted:an amazing Caprese cocktail, clear to the eye in spite of having milk and tomato water, dense and a bit lactic in taste, incredibly balanced;another amazing and popular one, whose concoction we were watching being made repeatedly, looking like a crème brûlée and treating like heaven (I cant recall its name, sorry);some citric vermouth which name I cant recall either, of complex subtlety, with a strange umami taste we couldnt figure out from which ingredient. Finally the bar nuts. Theyre crazily good. I wouldnt imagine salt, cumin and thyme would be such an addictive combo. In spite of the price, this was a highlight of our three weeks trip to New York, and will prevail in our memories while we still have them.Photo © Inês do Carmo

This Gramercy cocktail bar is absolutely superb! The atmosphere is fantastic, and the cocktails are not only elegant but crafted with precision. Im thoroughly impressed and consider it a must-visit spot.

  • Review 38 (2024-05-29 - Rating: 5)

Martinys is fantastic! The bartenders take such care with their drinks and the service is top notch. Recently, I came here while secretly pregnant; I let Martinys know in advance and they were such professionals about it! The staff went above and beyond to ensure I could keep my secret while still having a great experience with a friend. 10/10 would recommend!

  • Review 39 (2024-12-14 - Rating: 5)

Top 24 bar in the world in 2024 and the drinks are worth of the title. Delicious. We missed the food but drinks totally worth a visit.

Super classy bar. We got in without a reservation around midnight on a Saturday. Amazing drink selection, great service, they put a lot of attention into each drink and its presentation - highly recommend!

  • Review 43 (2022-12-15 - Rating: 5)

We got seated at the bar and was able to see how they create the drink.Tbh it felt like watching top chef but for drinks. The cocktail prices are on the higher end but i do appreciate the creativity of the flavors that was put into making the cocktail. There were a lot of drinks that i was curious to try so i will be definitely coming back.My favorite was the maia (green drink)

  • Review 44 (2024-07-30 - Rating: 5)

TLDR: Its considered one of the best cocktail bars in North America for good reason. If you can snag a reservation, the beverage program here is executed really at the highest level. Tea Ceremony if you like an old fashioned, if you like Asian-palette cocktails (refreshing not too sweet) the Maia. If you want to know what this place is about, grab the Caprese. Dont forget some bar bites too.My wife knew I wanted to try Martinys and fortunately snagged us a reservation. We were sat at the bar with Ethan and Phillip who were both awesome hosts. We went a bit crazy but it was a great time. We started with the Caprese and Maia. The Caprese reminds you of just that - a Caprese salad. Its refreshing, very tasty and easy to drink. The Maia had a tropical flavor, a bit of sourness, I could probably drink multiples of these. We ended up trying the Tea Ceremony, which is kind of like a matcha old fashioned. Wife got a seasonal mezcal drink which was very tasty and somewhat divided in half for two drinking experiences. The last two drinks were ridiculously good. The Olive & Honey Vesper which finished really nicely, while still being quite a stiff drink. The subtle honey and the yogurt finish. Wife got the Passion Punch. Passionfruit, tropical, just overall insanely yummy.Food-wise, we got the Scotch Egg which was like a Japanese take on the classic. Delicately fried, a chicken/fish meatball like mixture with the egg and topped with yakitori sauce. The karaage with caviar was good but quite HOT. Juicy chicken, dashi cream cheese and a nice dollop of caviar. The wagyu tartare was very unique, with parmagiano reggiano and salted seaweed. It can get pricey but you are getting drinks where the craftsmanship is Olympian-like (since its going on now) talent. We had such a great time, weve already planned to return two weeks from now.

  • Review 45 (2024-05-06 - Rating: 4)

The composition of the dishes was a total delight. Well curated bites with delicious flavors. However- many of the hot dishes were served cool/room temp. This especially stood out with the Wagyu dish- which needs to be hot to enjoy the essence of the fatty meat. A bummer.Service too deserves note. Perhaps it was a bad day, we all have them, but this night the serves were noticeably agitated. There was no nature of ease or natural in their service; most interactions felt forced and tense.

  • Review 46 (2022-12-13 - Rating: 5)

Drinks and small plates upstairs made for a memorable evening. Short wait to be seated but worth it. Happy to go back and often a suggestion to our friends in the area.

  • Review 47 (2024-05-28 - Rating: 5)

This is absolutely my favorite bar among the top-rated bars I visited in NY. They have a very dedicated process for making each individual cocktail. The bar is neat and organized, with well-trained staff following exact standards. If you’re a drinker, you can appreciate the effort they put in. No standing drinks, which I also like. Definitely an upscale whiskey and cocktail bar!

  • Review 48 (2024-03-21 - Rating: 5)

Unique cocktail options, and we were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed the Caprese cocktail. We sat at the bar, which turned out to be the best seats in the house. It was an awe-striking experience getting to watch Ethan and the other mixologists create these masterpieces behind the counter. This is truly the best cocktail bar!

  • Review 49 (2024-06-21 - Rating: 5)

Very much enjoyed the caprese and maia! the tempura was also yummy!!!! great interior design and space upstairs. vibes all good and service attentive. will be back.

  • Review 50 (2023-08-09 - Rating: 4)

Really great drinks, but found the food super overpriced. 5 star for presentation but nothing outstanding about the food. Great place for quick drinks with great service!

  • Review 51 (2024-09-01 - Rating: 5)

Vibes are perfect. Non-pretentious but top quality service, drinks and food.Honey vesper is a must and definitely get the Wagyu Sando — is extremely reasonably priced compared to what you’d pay elsewhere.Excellent hospitality and vibes — never too loud and is a perfect union of elevated and casual.

  • Review 52 (2024-07-04 - Rating: 5)

I love this low-key, tucked away bar. It has such a classic and luxurious vibe. The drinks were so unique and delicious and the service was top notch. I recommend making a reservation, which you can do up to two weeks in advance. Will definitely return!

  • Review 53 (2024-05-07 - Rating: 5)

Great bar to go to love the different cocktails they serve. The servers are so good and always take great care of me. Will always come back here!

  • Review 54 (2023-08-15 - Rating: 5)

I have now been to Martinys twice and loved my experience both times. My girlfriend and I discovered Martinys after traveling to many of the best cocktail bars in Japan - many of our favorite mixologists that we spoke to in Tokyo and Kyoto (Keisuke, Koji Esashi, etc.) recommended Takumas bar (Martinys), and they were not wrong. Martinys has firmly established itself as my favorite cocktail bar in NYC.The cocktails are creative, incorporate ingredients that are not typically used in NYC cocktail bars, and often have clever/interactive presentations (simple yet classy). We had some snacks and absolutely loved the wagyu tartare and the bar nuts (seriously you have to get the nuts). Some of my favorite cocktails so far include the Mole Granada, Tea Ceremony, and the Caprese. If I were to summarize the cocktail experience, Martinys gets full marks on taste, creativity and presentation. In a city filled with high-end overpriced cocktail bars and speakeasies that offer lackluster service, Martinys was refreshing in that the service was impeccable. In this regard, it reminds me of the attention to detail and pride that Ive only found in high-end Japanese cocktail bars.If there was to be one criticism of Martinys, it is the obvious one... the prices. The drinks are expensive at ~$25-30/cocktail, which relative to nearly anywhere else in the world would be absurd. I wish they could make the prices a bit more reasonable so you could try more cocktails without blowing hundreds of dollars, however, this is NYC and it is the unfortunate price one must pay in order to taste the best cocktails the city has to offer. Unfortunately, Martinys is not unique in this aspect in relation to other high-end cocktail bars in the area.In summary, Takuma is truly one of the best at what he does and I highly recommend visiting Martinys to see for yourself. Each cocktail is distinctly unique, so make sure you try a few.We look forward to coming back soon.

Upscale lounge to grab a cocktails with others. The place is very intimate and perfect for a date or catching up with others. The cocktails are unique with fun and interesting ingredients used. They are strong but delicious. I forget which drink it was but it came with a fresh and ripe passionfruit. The drink was perfectly tart, sweet, and refreshing! The service is great! The employees are very attentive to detail and always present if you need them or have any questions.Highly recommend making a reservation in advance. They do accept walk ins but the wait varies. Gets very crowded at night and on weekends.

  • Review 56 (2024-01-21 - Rating: 5)

Amazing spot, extremely attentive service, complex cocktails, cozy and refined atmosphere, tasty bites (particularly the sweet corn tempura, karage and burrata). Also a great spot if you’re doing dry January as they have a number of great non alcoholic options as well as a delicious non alcoholic champagne.

  • Review 57 (2024-04-15 - Rating: 4)

I came here for an event but will have to come back to try their original cocktails.

  • Review 58 (2022-10-09 - Rating: 5)

I will say: pricy but absolutely, positively WORTH IT. Beyond quality ingredients, you’re paying for a knowledge base and skill set not found in many other bars. My boyfriend and I each got 3 drinks and the variety on the menu is impressive. The cocktails we enjoyed were very well balanced and with flavor profiles we’ve not had elsewhere. Staff was kind, efficient, and at the ready with recommendations. We joked that Martiny’s has ruined all future cocktails (bars) for us!! The Tea Ceremony and Caprese were our favorites.

  • Review 59 (2023-11-10 - Rating: 5)

My new favorite bar in the city. Amazing service, inventive cocktails, and great ambience. This place is meant for those who want a true mixology experience. I cant recommend enough!!

Set in an old carriage house, this upscale Japanese bar has great cocktails, good snacks and really helpful staff. Youll definitely need a reservation. The upstairs lounge is especially cozy.

  • Review 61 (2024-07-12 - Rating: 5)

We had reservations in the lounge area for right when they opened at 6pm. It got busier later in the evening. You get an hour and 45 minutes to stay which I think is plenty of time. The atmosphere in the lounge is very comfortable, classic-feeling and easy to talk with friends. Depending on where you get sat, there are windows with a view. Miguel specifically was a very good server, answering all of our questions and explaining every drink to us. He was kind and provided excellent service. I don’t know if it is a requirement for all servers, but Miguel knelt every time he served drinks and made eye contact as he explained the drinks - this felt like he was truly “serving” us. Also, they surprised us with a free drink (Tiramisu) for our anniversary which was good and not too sweet. Even though we were a little disappointed that the lounge had a different menu than the downstairs bar, our drinks were still very delicious. If you sit at the lounge, drinks are made downstairs at the bar and then brought up to you. Some of them are poured in front of you. They let us order off of the downstairs menu after our first round of drinks and the Potter’s Old Fashioned was bold and spicy - a great take on an old fashioned. We also had the Grand Martiny, The Armoury, the New York New York, and The Tea Ceremony - the latter of which was the favorite drink among all four of us. In fact, my wife even said it was one of the best cocktails she has ever had. I agree. It turns out, whiskey and matcha are an excellent combination. The little flowers they place on the ice cube are meant to be eaten in between sips and they have a very unique flavor that complements the drink well. We didn’t order any food but it all sounds very good. Overall, great place with great drinks. We are looking forward to coming back and trying the bar downstairs so we can order off of the full menu and interact with the bartenders. (Miguel also recommended coming back to try the Caprese drink.)

Got the Granada Mole ( if you are open for a slight savory chocolate, oh yes! Red fruits kindly coming through) the Fig leaf Ragtime ( my partner has a bold palette and love it so much) there were also a matcha cocktail with shiso flower… which I’ll get next time… forgot the name though! Ops!Lovely night and experience!

Impeccable in every aspect. A supremely refined drinking and dining experience. Try the Grand Martinys, Beauty Colada, and the iberico

  • Review 65 (2022-05-29 - Rating: 5)

Friendly service and surprisingly manageable wait times in both line and serving. Not quite Angels Share level in cocktail creativity (bring back the Earl Grey and Truffle drinks!), but good balance of spirit and flavor in their drinks, with delicious small bites. Love the Japanese influence although no Japanese decor.

A really great experience here. The cocktails are great, nah signature one is awesome. The food was also amazing. My favorite was the corn balls. I ate 6 of them! SIX! But the atmosphere and service was awesome!

Very high end Japanese style bar built inside a carriage house by Angels Share veteran. Kimura glassware and balanced drinks. My favorite is the Caprese

  • Review 68 (2023-07-11 - Rating: 5)

Likely the most sophisticated cocktail lounge we have ever been to. Superlative service. Calm, collected and refined. Sit back and revel in your surroundings and delicious drink.

  • Review 69 (2022-11-28 - Rating: 5)

The best drinks in the city — priced to match. Drinks are inventive but classic, thematically tight and meticulously executed.

  • Review 70 (2022-07-31 - Rating: 5)

I had very high expectations for an angel’s share offshoot and Martiny’s lived up to it. Price point can be rough, but you get what you pay for with inventive house cocktails and well done classics. Standouts were the royal horse’s neck, caprese, and caviar+mini martini. Beautiful space that’s best enjoyed at dusk with close friends. Well paced service and great hospitality.

  • Review 71 (2023-08-12 - Rating: 5)

I had the good fortune to have cocktails at the award winning Martiny’s. The drinks are prepared with distinguished precision and technique - they are more art than beverage. Yes, the prices are high end but you would be hard pressed to find a more comfortable place to enjoy stunningly good creations.

Awesome space at the new Martinys cocktail bar lounge headed by Takuma Watanabe . A bi-level space with a bar in the lower level and a lounge upstairs. Each guest is warmly greeted by the host and accompanied to their seat.Takuma personaly makes every drink .They also have a interesting food menu. Will post that soon.New Yawkers will recall this space for a spot called the House, wich closed couple of years back. This is a great redesign of the old carriage house. There is a line when you get here ealry. However, it moves. The line is because each guest is personally handled by the host. The staff is very friendly and courteous. They are not taking reservations and its first come for now.We were not wowed by the dirnks. The food was fantastic.

  • Review 73 (2024-10-13 - Rating: 4)

They have amazing drinks, and the atmosphere is incredible. I would definitely recommend checking it out at least once. But, we left after a couple cocktails we left and got a slice of pizza elsewhere. That being said, the Scotch egg was delicious.

Of course the cocktails are exceptional but don’t sleep on the small plates. They’re creative and pair well with drinking.

Awesome atmosphere and cocktails. Stopped by for a drink after dinner across the street at Casa Mono and it was a perfect way to end the night. We loved the Beauty Colada & Tiramisu, and the service was great. Will be back!

Stylish interior (exposed brick)Drinks 10/10We tried 8 out of 10 cocktails they have on the menu and all of them were amazing! Cool presentation of Grand Martiny and Armoury (server pours it in front of you). The Pumpkin cocktail comes with pumpkin pie topping - creative and delicious. Can def recommend also the Caprese and Night TrainService 10/10Very nice and knowledgeable staff. If you want to try snack - try the Japanese crabs - very unique presentation (looks like a cartoon on a plate)!Price 3/10The nice experience and special cocktails come with a price… ~$25-30 per drinkOne of the best bars I have been to, overall. Would put it personally in top 10.

A transporting reincarnation from the former head bartender at Angel’s Share, it is subdued, with classic jazz playing, fitting for the elegant, occasionally whimsical, but always delicious cocktail creations. And the small selection of appetizers match the drinks in both invention and flavor.

  • Review 81 (2024-04-30 - Rating: 4)

An elegant Japanese style bar with inventive signature cocktails.

One of my favorite bars ever since I learned about it right after Angels Share temporarily closed from the East Village as it’s started by the same group / bartender. Great drinks that are not only unique but also Asian-inspired.I’d recommend the caprese & tiramisu drinks!Sitting by the big window is such a vibe, especially in the pouring rain :)

  • Review 86 (2022-07-16 - Rating: 5)

New favorite spot! Everything is so well crafted and made for an amazing experience. Need a reservation and they gave us two hour timeline until next reservation seating.Drinks: I am currently pregnant and gave the Bartender my preference of a not sweet, fragrant herb with bubbles drink and they made me the best, most spot-on mocktail. My husband had the gimlet and high ball (really enjoyed the high ball) and then finished with a classic rye Manhattan. Of course the bar tender wanted to add a special to touch to the basic drink and shared with it his current experiment with some sweet cherries. It was awesome to try.Food: order the freshwater crabs! Super fun dish and like elevated potato chips at a bar. Was daunting to take a bite of but def worth it.Ambiance: the carriage house is beautiful. For two people and to have a little more of a show to watch all drinks come out would recommend sitting at bar downstairs. But we def plan to come back for a double date and sit in the beautiful upstairs room that has really nice lounge chair set up.

  • Review 90 (2022-12-19 - Rating: 5)

Takuma Watanabe has gone above and beyond with this space.Everything of the space just screams refined/upscale but not pretentious. The upstairs lounge was awesome if youre in a group, but the downstairs is definitely where the action is, especially if you want to interact with Takuma, who is usually there.I truly enjoyed the pairing martini with the caviar bump, as well as the tiramisu drink. The drinks are definitely more spirit forward as the name of the bar suggests, but there is something there for everyone.

  • Review 91 (2023-01-05 - Rating: 5)

Wow!!! This place is amazing. I think this place is up there with Aviary in Chicago as some of the best cocktails I have ever had. Wish I could have tried everything on the menu but still needed the ability to walk to the subway.

  • Review 94 (2022-08-06 - Rating: 5)

Friend and I arrived before 8pm on a Friday night and we were able to be seated at the loafer lounge sofa on the 2nd floor right away. The service was great! Both waiters and bartenders checked on us from time to time. I was glad that I got the Tea Ceremony, although the matcha might keep me awake all night;). The drink was smooth and somehow also creamy for me. The bitterness and earthiness of matcha was vey well balanced with coconut water. The presentation is elegant. High price tag for sure, but the experience speaks louder than the price;)

One of the best bars in the city. The upstairs bar is really beautiful. Martinys puts so much care and a high level of detail into every cocktail. The staff are kind and very knowledgeable. It can take time to get a reservation but this is a must go to place in NY and has replaced other high-end cocktail bars for me.

Great place for a date night and also to show out-of-towners who want to experience why this city is the king of craft cocktails.

  • Review 112 (2024-03-02 - Rating: 5)

Truly exceptional cocktail bar experience. I had heard good things about this place, but did not expect the level of craft, refinement, and care that we received in each drink. I was accompanied by two friends and each of us tried a different drink from their core menu. All of them were outstanding in their own right. We tried the Black Garlic Gibson, the Brown Butter Old Fashioned, and the Caprese. I would highly recommend any of them, but especially the old fashioned. Put this on your priority list if you are a cocktail enthusiast.

  • Review 116 (2022-04-27 - Rating: 4)

Theres a saying in Japanese that comes to mind with regards to this place - さすが (sa su ga - as expected).Martinys is a classy spot with a surprisingly well crafted food menu staffed by former members of Angel Share and even BFlat at the time of this review and its launch. It was nice walking in here and seeing so many faces that Ive come to know in, and around, the NYC bar scene.Inside is a two floor setup with a basement. The second floor has a wonderful homie, and relaxed feel. I swear if Takuma installed a fireplace up here I might move in. 🤣An interesting first drink menu, with some unique takes on Martinis and other drinks. Keep in mind that the owner is a big fan of the namesake but the team here, based on what I know about them, would make any classic drink that your heart desires.Worth the long wait? Yes.Will you want to leave after you enter - no. 😏さすが!

  • Review 119 (2023-08-19 - Rating: 5)

The cocktails were amazing, no disappointment. And the food was great too. The service is great and most servicewomen were great. One or two servicemen didn’t live up to a Japanese standard when we went and seem quite pushy in making us order more, which was one of the regret we had during the visit. Nevertheless I think it warrants a 5 star review even with the small flaw.

  • Review 120 (2023-08-05 - Rating: 5)

All the drinks are delicate and very well balanced that accentuates the flavors of the spirits and the ingredients. The converted carriage house vibe is super cute and cozy. Service was great too.

  • Review 121 (2023-10-25 - Rating: 5)

I really like this bar. Where most bars are looking to pack in as many customers as possible this one focuses on giving a smaller crowd of customers amazing service.

  • Review 122 (2023-11-05 - Rating: 5)

Great bar with great Japanese spirits. Expect $23-$30 per drink but worth a visit.

  • Review 123 (2023-10-07 - Rating: 5)

Some of the best small bites I’ve had in a bar in US, on par with small plates during a 3 Michelin Star tasting menu. Cocktail menu is concise but highly original, on par with great cocktail bars in Singapore and Japan.

Ive been working in this industry for about 18 years now, which is normally not something I bring up, but only now to say that this place is functioning at the highest level there is.Everything is incredible, the drinks are some of the best Ive ever had. The attention to service is just as masterful. I hope to celebrate every special occasion here, and for the first time in my life feel compelled to have an experience at every seat in the house.

  • Review 129 (2023-04-01 - Rating: 5)

I can’t say enough about this place. The staff. The menu. We came after the kitchen closed but if the kitchen takes even half as much care as the bar, then you’re in for a fabulous dining experience. Both the signature menu and the seasonal menu were out of this world and easily some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had.

  • Review 130 (2022-12-18 - Rating: 5)

Worth the hype! Drinks were amazing and service (hot towels delivered to the table, willing to accommodate random drink requests) was impeccable. Ryoko was able to work some magic to accommodate a big group and the venue was beautiful. Highly recommended

  • Review 132 (2023-03-03 - Rating: 5)

Small bites and drinks were so delicately crafted. They explained how to best savor the drinks too. Cocktails there were not just physical mixtures of individual ingredients - there were new flavors from their synergy. Best cocktails i have ever had.

  • Review 133 (2023-08-25 - Rating: 5)

Atmosphere, cocktails, food. Everything is perfect. Going to visit this place often.

  • Review 134 (2023-01-04 - Rating: 4)

Pretty good cocktails and an interesting space, definitely need reservations as this place fills up quick and stays full. Wouldn’t say they’re the best I’ve had, but better than a lot of other higher end cocktail bars. An excellent spot to impress a date after dinner, not an incredible dark out loud spot so you can have a good conversation.Be warned however, for a block known to be pricey, this place takes the cake. I’m almost positive this is the most expensive bar in Manhattan. Average cost of a cocktail after tax & tip is easily $35-$40

  • Review 135 (2023-09-01 - Rating: 5)

I made a reservation here a few weeks ago knowing how hard it is to get one. I really wanted to bring my boyfriend here for his birthday in a few weeks, but I couldnt risk missing out. We came here yesterday and I have to say it was a day of really bad traffic, we were late to our reservation and they were really accommodating, so I really appreciate what they were able to do for us.We had (what I would say) probably the best seat in the place! I wish I was able to take a picture of it, but it was really busy and the place is intimate. Just know if you go there, youll know if youre upstairs. Its the seats by the window! We definitely indulged on a few of their special cocktails on the menu (Grand Martinys, Lemon Crusted Sour, Tiramisu, Tea Ceremony). For food, we tried their Wagyu sando and Wagyu tartare, and I honestly cannot tell you which one was better, theyre both delicious! If we have a chance to come back, we definitely will!(See Photos section for pictures)

  • Review 140 (2022-06-06 - Rating: 5)

This is the only bar I need in New York. Drinks and food are excellent. Just be aware: it is not the right spot for big groups, rowdy parties, immediate service ... its very low key and needs a little patience but if youre into that then its perfect.

What a fantastic cocktail bar. Highly recommended.Coming to Martinys wasnt too hard to find. There are two floors - I ended up at the first floor bar (While the second floor seemed to be more of a lounge). I was able to watch the masterful cocktail master of the bar Takuma Watanabe and the other bartender create all the wonderful drinks of the night. Super fascinating little touches with an eye for perfection and making me want to try more (next time!). Heres what I got:*Bar nuts: The bar nuts were so addictive and so plentiful. One order will last a party of two the whole night.*Potters Old Fashioned: Made of brown butter washed Makers Mark 46 and Chai/Palm Coco Sugar/Abbots Bitter, this old fashioned had a nice refreshing taste and a slightly sweet and salty kick. It was a gorgeous drink and goes down easy.*Royal Horses Neck: This drink sounds intense but was what one of the waiters recommended after hearing what I was looking for - Hennesy VSOP, Orange, Lemon, Egg Yolk, Champagne. The drink came in a large narrow glass with an orange peel and was exactly what I was looking for. An easy drink that was super refreshing and bright.Yes - the drinks are pricy (some of the most expensive drinks I came across of the trip) but I think well worth the price. And everyone at the bar was so nice and friendly - loving the vibe.Big thanks to the whole Martinys crew for the chats and drinks!
