Chanel was beyond hospitable, even on a packed evening. She helped us pick out the perfect cocktails and made sure our preferences were met regardless of liquor base. Probably one of the best bartenders in a while and most certainly the best in this area. -

Upon being invited to meet at a bar, I had anticipated a typical experience characterized by noise, rowdiness, and a lack of friendliness. However, Nothing Really Matters exceeded my expectations.Upon entering, we were informed that the bar was busy but that we were welcome to join. As soon as we did, the bartenders promptly acknowledged us and inquired about our preferences, as I am not a drinker. To my surprise, they offered to create a custom drink for me (thanks Sky). The ambiance was exceptional, with the music playing being both impressive and surprisingly not overly loud. This allowed me to engage in conversation with the person I had met and thoroughly enjoyed my time. I returned the following week, and to my delight, they remembered me and were already preparing my drink. They maintained the same friendly and attentive demeanor as my first visit.I highly recommend this establishment to all my friends and family. And the pizza from See No Evil next door was the cherry on top, it was truly remarkable. The staff’s exceptional service from the general manager Ronnie who greets me with a hug every time, to my favorite bartender Sky who is always upbeat and friendly, and Cyllan who also has exceptional customer service has cemented my loyalty as a customer for life!!! Love this place!! -

Upon my initial visit to this establishment, I observed a high level of patronage. Despite the busy atmosphere, the staff greeted me warmly and courteously, informing me that the establishment was experiencing a surge in customers. They kindly suggested that I consider sitting at the bar, which I did.At the bar, the bartenders promptly engaged me in conversation and demonstrated exceptional friendliness, even amidst the chaotic ambiance. As a New Yorker who has resided in the city for my entire life, I can confidently assert that this establishment stands out as one of the finest bars in New York City.During my subsequent visit, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the staff remembered me at the bar and promptly prepared my preferred drink. This familiarity has since made this bar my sole destination for alcoholic beverages. The hospitality provided by the staff is unparalleled, and I enthusiastically recommend this establishment to my friends and family. In addition to the bar, I must mention the See No Evil restaurant, which is also highly regarded for its exceptional pizza. The staff at both establishments is exceptional and consistently provides exceptional service. -

Hidden cocktail bar on the way to the subway entrance. We went after a Broadway show and there wasn’t any signage (like in the photo posted which was taken when we were leaving) so it wasn’t easy to find (lol, thats why its hidden). The place was packed and there was a line when we arrived. Luckily the host was good at his job and was able to move people in quickly. We got a table off to the side in a small intimate room. It was close and cozy with your neighbors but thats kind of the atmosphere. In the main area was standing mostly at high tops and a few seats scattered about. Large bar. Good waitstaff; attentive and friendly (and busy). Enjoyed a round of drinks and moved on which is what it seemed most of the other patrons did as well. -

Nothing Really Matters definitely MATTERS! You must come here… the drinks and the atmosphere are on point! Sky served up a Classic Sazerac reminiscent of my visit to New Orleans… also the NY sour is sublime! Come here, drink here, vibe here! -
Review 6 (2024-09-29 - Rating: 5)
Very friendly and skilled bartenders. Comfortable atmosphere. You can get pizza delivered from the neighboring place and honestly, whats better than pizza and cocktails on a rainy evening? -
Review 7 (2024-12-26 - Rating: 5)
Hands down my favorite cocktail bar in the city!!It’s a hidden gem in Times Square — a speakeasy in the downtown 1 train subway station with none of the pretentiousness or stuffiness that typically comes with a NYC speakeasy.I could go on forever about why I love this place but I’ll try to keep it short:- awesome atmosphere (live DJ on Friday and Saturday nights) and a chill date night vibe depending on when you go. The music is on point is the crowd is not so touristy like you might expect.- the tastiest cocktails — head mixologist Cyllan is super talented and seasonally releases new drinks, bartenders are absolute pros- BEST staff around!! These folks are the ones that keep me coming back. It can be rare in this neighborhood, but everyone from the manager Ronnie, to the bartenders, servers, and barbacks, create a genuine sense of community that’s so unique and hard to find- some of the best pizza in NYC right next door AND you can order it straight to the bar. My go to is the funghi (with soppresata added on top). Seriously cannot emphasize enough how good the pizza is. -
Review 8 (2024-12-27 - Rating: 5)
Great that they serve pizza and drinks! Very cool vibe and lots of seating. Would go again! -
Review 9 (2024-11-13 - Rating: 5)
The Gin Ricky was the perfect drink and this speakeasy is the coolest one Ive set foot into in NYC in part because its in the subway system, which is something you cant find elsewhere. I got there right at opening and after one drink every seat was taken. It would be the perfect spot for a first date (you can order pizza from See No Evil next door which was delicious), a nightcap or the main event of a night out showing people what makes NYC the epicenter of the universe. -
Review 10 (2024-12-26 - Rating: 5)
Hidden Speakeasy inside the 1train station.Great drinks, engaging staff, the djs know how to get people to dance. Also they own the pizza spot next door and its fire. -
Review 11 (2024-12-26 - Rating: 5)
Amazing NYC gem! Unreal drinks, best service & staff, music and vibes of traditional NYC lounge. As soon as you walk in, you can feel the vibrant energy. -
Review 12 (2024-12-28 - Rating: 5)
Had a great experience. The Hell pizza and sausage pizza hit the spot! There was a great mixed crowd of all ages, good music which wasnt too loud. -
Review 13 (2023-02-05 - Rating: 5)
This place is a fantastic underground bar! 🍸 Nothing Really Matters offers a wonderful selection of unique cocktails 🍹 - definitely try the Rock Your Baby 🍼 with Apple 🍎 Cider or The Stinger! This subterranean spot is accessible directly from the subway 🚇 1 train 🔴 - no need to go above ground, just stick to the SW exit - perfect for bar crawler 🍻 on cold 🥶 NYC 🗽 nights! Staff 👨🍳 is welcoming and friendly and the service is quick! Ambience 🎶 is great and the music 🎵 is nice! I wish I knew about this place earlier! -
Review 14 (2024-11-17 - Rating: 5)
We only got drinks here, no food. Drinks were good and atmosphere definitely fits a speak easy. Bartenders were friendly and chatty. The Bartenders also make excellent drinks if you give them a little hint about what you like. -
Review 15 (2024-06-01 - Rating: 5)
Fun find existing the subway station on route to a show. Great cocktails. Nice service. Server shared a great place to go after the show which was fun. Didnt eat but cocktails were good. Would recommend. -
Review 16 (2024-02-11 - Rating: 5)
Came here with friends after watching an off Broadway play. Entrance is a few steps down the 1 train station on corner of 50st and Broadway. The head bartender was very attentive and checked in with us whenever our beverages were running low. The drinks were very delicious and innovative. “Obsession” was my favorite from tonight. Overall I had a really great time and am planning to return with more friends! -
Review 17 (2024-04-04 - Rating: 5)

Stopped by and got a couple of drinks after a long walk in Central Park. Scott was an awesome bartender. He was really knowledgeable and even served us his signature martini. Would absolutely come again. -

Sky made me and my husband feel very welcomed to NYC as soon as we arrived. The drinks were incredible and the atmosphere was perfect. Highly recommend! -
Review 21 (2022-09-27 - Rating: 5)
When you walk down the stairs towards the 1 DOWNTOWN at 50th & Broadway (across the street from the Equinox) - to your surprise - there is a pretty decent-sized BAR right before you hit the MTA turnstiles.Yep, you read that right - a disco-ball toting, dj-boasting, hole-in-the-wall that will excite all of your senses. From the perfectly curated neon lights to the gorgeous bar that is the focal point of the main room, this hidden “speakeasy” contains a grandiose collection of spirits- there’s a 99% chance they carry a brand you love.Apparently they have rotating DJS, however the music selection played is always dope- with a range of genres from 80’s Madonna to 90’s Hip-Hop to Drake. This is definitely a place you want to frequent - their cocktail menu is refreshed with every season. First time I went the menu said “YAAS SPRING” -came back a few weeks later: the menu said “SUMMER”. How original!Plus - get this - there are bar snacks including CAVIAR! It comes with accouterments in a cute Bento box style plating.Times Square/Broadway District finally has a cool venue to grab a drink before dinner of after a show! -
Review 22 (2023-12-12 - Rating: 5)
A fantastic speakeasy offering excellent service. The bartenders drink-making skills were truly impressive. Its a wonderful place with enjoyable music.Would definitely visit this place again! -
Review 23 (2023-11-04 - Rating: 5)
I was on my way to the train & I heard some noise from around the corner of the subway. I walked around the corner & saw a hallway. I walked up the stairs following the narrow hallway, then BOOM I saw a door with a door man standing outside. So I went in, and it was a speakeasy located in the subway. It was so random, but so cool. Get you some great drinks from here. I love the drink Obsessed, it’s amazing. -
Review 24 (2024-08-24 - Rating: 5)
Could easily find its place among my favorite cocktail bars. Service was so friendly and authentic and the vibe was low key, good spot for conversation and drinks on a date. -
Review 25 (2022-12-12 - Rating: 5)
Loved this place. Hidden just before you enter the subway, its a small tucked in spot with a huge wall of alcohol and drinks that are well made. The staff are very friendly and easy to talk to so I felt well taken care of. This is definitely a cocktail bar so dont go here with the idea of getting food. Its also quite dark, which helps with the ambience of the spot, but can make it hard to read the menu. Overall, a nice little spot to pop into for a drink or two. -
Review 26 (2024-10-14 - Rating: 5)

Review 27 (2024-12-31 - Rating: 5)
Went here after work one Saturday night and the vibe was great! Love the music and atmosphere! We had about 4 drinks and they were delicious. Shoutout to the bartender with the dreads! He was jamming and serving great service. -
Review 28 (2024-04-11 - Rating: 5)
Fantastic bartenders and atmosphere. Cyllan the owner made sure we were taken care of and made for a great experience. Great vibes! -
Review 29 (2024-08-29 - Rating: 5)
So it took me a minute to figure out how to get to this place. The directions took me to a spot that seemed sketch. I finally decided to head into subway and thats how I found it. I will admit I almost gave up. Glad I didnt. Bartenders were friendly and the drinks came fast. -
Review 30 (2024-10-27 - Rating: 5)
Perfect balance of authentically gritty but unpretentiously classy drink menu. Incredible service. We were the oldest people in the bar by far and ALL of the staff were super cool—treated us like family even though we were obviously tourists. Even the whole DJ posse… incredibly cool guys and playlist—PA was thumping hard and sounded great without somehow being overly harsh. Got hugs from everyone on the way out. Unbelievable experience. Bar staff in Austin should take notes on how to create repeat customers. Southern hospitality is dead. These folks put NYC on top. -
Review 31 (2024-06-01 - Rating: 5)
We stumbled upon this place exiting the subway station on route to a show. Had a couple of extra minutes and decided to stop for a drink. Great ambiance. Great service. Full bar but lots of creative cocktails on the menu. Would recommend. -
Review 32 (2024-07-23 - Rating: 4)
I liked the vibe. Both drinks - alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails - were great. 2nd one for sure the hardest to make, but they managed to create a fresh, not too sweet Mocktail -
Review 33 (2024-09-07 - Rating: 5)
Great speakeasy subway bar with a seasonal drink menu. The service is sometimes lacking, especially when busy, but the drinks are strong and the ambiance is nice! -
Review 34 (2024-02-13 - Rating: 5)

Review 37 (2024-11-27 - Rating: 4)
The location is a bit odd inside the metro station. Smells a little of chlorine and also quite loud music so you have to shout at each other across the table. Drinks were ok however nothing special. Service was lovely though. -
Review 38 (2024-10-23 - Rating: 4)
Good drinks, not a nice an atmosphere as I expected, but staff were very friendly and service was good. -
Review 39 (2024-12-18 - Rating: 5)
Nitro espresso martini was a super strong one, and the vibes here are cool -
Review 40 (2024-03-31 - Rating: 5)
This bar is conveniently situated at the entrance of the subway station, nestled underground. They boast a diverse menu featuring both classic cocktails and inventive creations. I savored the delightful flavors of the Clover Club, and the Obsessed cocktail was equally impressive.Upon arrival, the bar area filled up quickly, attesting to its popularity, yet alternative seating options were readily available. They offer the convenience of reservations, guaranteeing you a spot even during peak hours. Plus, they accept credit cards for added convenience. -
Review 41 (2024-10-14 - Rating: 5)
Sky was amazing, very attentive! Love the unique location!Get the pumpkin spice espresso martini! -
Review 42 (2023-12-09 - Rating: 5)
We’ve been bar/restaurant hoping for 3-4 days now in NYC and this has been the only place I’ve taken the time to review. It was perfect. The setting was away from the madness and tourism on the street since it’s just downstairs on way to subway but without feeling grimey or grungy. The music was on point. The cocktails were fantastic and not crazily over priced. The peanuts and olives came with almost a whole jar of olives and were the perfect snack to down a couple cocktails to. Grab a reservation if going! -
Review 43 (2024-04-06 - Rating: 5)
There was a promoter with long yellow hair. It was evident she brought good vibes to whoever she was near. She saw me looking down and clearly having a bad evening and came over to check on me and make sure Im ok. Being that observant on a busy Friday night and showing that kinda empathy is remarkable. Left me feeling safe. Also really cool bar! -
Review 44 (2024-04-12 - Rating: 5)

They make extremely good cocktails. Perfectly balanced in taste and flavours. Many interesting drinks and unusual toppings. -
Review 47 (2024-06-29 - Rating: 5)
Phenomenal. Cyllan Hicks is a literal sorcerer; I dont believe Ive ever tasted a better drink in my *life*. He is the epitome of a mixologist, truly in love with his work. He explained that he brings culinary influences into his drinks, that he doesnt want to make new renditions of old classics, but rather create a new experience in and of itself based off of the timeless evidence of the most culinarily sought after flavor combinations when it comes to the realm of the chewable. She drives me crazy, indeed. -
Review 48 (2023-10-19 - Rating: 5)
Stopped in on my way to catch the 1 train and was intrigued. I was promptly greeted by the bartender as I walked in. He made sure I had a seat at the bar and after a few minutes of looking at the menu and the selection of spirits decided to play it safe so I had a glass of Rose but the mixologist was on point as I watched him make a few drinks. The atmosphere was cozy and super NYC vibes. Will be back!!! -
Review 49 (2024-05-12 - Rating: 5)

Excellent service and delicious drinks. They take reservations so take advantage of you can. -
Review 51 (2024-06-23 - Rating: 5)
Really cool speak easy. Service could have been better but the location and atmosphere really made up for it. Pricing was average. But definitely a must for any tourist. And if you’re a local this would be a cool first date the setting is pretty romantic. -
Review 52 (2024-02-08 - Rating: 5)
When you think of a bar you dont often think you need to access it via a subway entrance. Nevertheless if you go to one bar in NYC go here. Best old fashioned and best expresso martinis we have ever had. The service was 2nd to none. Wonderful atmosphere. Great liquor selection and friendly staff. Cant wait to come back! -
Review 53 (2024-02-03 - Rating: 5)

Review 56 (2023-11-13 - Rating: 5)
What a find!! We finally made a point to visit this bar after walking past this place on the way to the train. The cocktails were all delicious with cool presentations. My favorites were “and my my, but ooh ooh, and ain’t no need to panic. The service was prompt and friendly. This place is even better than the speakeasy (La Noxe) under the subway station. -
Review 57 (2024-03-31 - Rating: 4)
So this place has great music and the staff is excellent. The vibe is really chill and good for small groups too. My only issue is I was recommended two cocktails Love Attack(Mezcal based), which was very good and not sweet, and a Rob Roy(created at the Waldorf Astoria NYC). When I ask my waitor which scotch they used, they said Copper dog which is a low end Irish whisky(still tastes good). So then I decided to ask the bartender and he said it was Rittenhouse Rye Whiskey which is used in a Manhattan. Due to the lack of confidence in what they were making and knowledge of a Rob Roy is why I went with the first drink, the Love Attack. And this is why it’s not a 5-star review. -
Review 58 (2023-04-29 - Rating: 5)
Great new spring drink menu! Our favorites were “And Want Yo Automatic” and “I got a stick” which comes with a cute bite of popcorn. Have been here 2x in 5 days, both times got great service but you may want to reserve a table on the weekends! -
Review 59 (2024-09-18 - Rating: 5)
Located just below street level at the entrance to the subway, this bar is extremely convenient to reach. The drink menu offers a diverse selection, ranging from timeless cocktails to inventive new blends. I savored the flavorful Clover Club, and the Obsessed cocktail was equally remarkable. When I arrived, the bar soon became crowded, reflecting its popularity, though plenty of seating was still available. To secure a table during peak times, its wise to book ahead. Conveniently, they also take credit cards. -
Review 60 (2023-09-30 - Rating: 5)
Ive been to this bar a few times, most notably a couple of nights in the first week it was open. Great cocktails, great atmosphere, and great service. The DJ is pretty good, so if you wanna move, its a good place to do so. -
Review 61 (2024-05-04 - Rating: 4)
Right off the 1 sits this cozy little speakeasy, right in the 50 St’s SW exit. It’s very loud, the atmosphere is relaxed, but some drunk souls do dance or at least attempt to when their BAC hits .08+.Their frozen and the Cherish were super sweet cocktails. It was ok; definitely a bit overhyped imo. Plenty of seating, the bouncer is cool, and the drinks and service are fine, so this is a great safe option for those in the area. -
Review 62 (2024-06-23 - Rating: 5)
The bartenders are amazing. Drinks are great too. You pay for the area so, it is what it is. -

Review 64 (2024-11-13 - Rating: 5)
We had an absolutely fantastic time at Nothing Really Matters. Ronnie, who is the general manager, and her entire staff are just delightful, the drinks are top notch, and the place has an amazing vibe to it. We will absolutely go back next time we’re in NYC. -
Review 65 (2022-11-29 - Rating: 5)
Cool retro bar with delicious cocktails, tucked away beside the downtown 1 train entrance. Literally the perfect place to get your drink on before heading downtown for some late night partying. Get off the 1, go out the turnstiles, hit this delightful speakeasy for a couple of rounds and jump back on the Downtown 1. No fuss, no muss. -
Review 66 (2024-01-20 - Rating: 5)

What an amazing speakeasy, that in true speakeasy fashion is truly tucked away!! This is definitely a GEM 💎The drinks were all great, and along with the trendy ambiance - that’s what really makes this place so special!! Although it was a busy Saturday, there was no overly long wait for the drinks to come after we ordered them; and the mixologist was super knowledgeable and made amazing drinks! -
Review 69 (2024-10-22 - Rating: 4)
Went here about a year ago… Atmosphere and the service are rad.But 20 dollars for a Jack and Coke means it better be the greatest Jack and Coke I’ve ever had. And it was like 95% Coke and 5% Jack -
Review 70 (2022-09-11 - Rating: 4)
I visited this bar recently. Its tucked away in the downtown 1 station, with a very distinct vibe. Purple colors and modern music play as you drink at the bar. They have an assortment of good drinks, with the caveat that theyre a bit pricey. I like the concept though. -
Review 71 (2023-10-17 - Rating: 5)

Review 72 (2024-03-02 - Rating: 5)
Subway = Bar ? A bar in the subway? Only in New York this combination makes sense. The drinks: to die for, the team: friendly and hype, the vibe: cool and funky. In other words a hidden spot perfect for a night out. But none of this is possible without the Queen of operations the one and only Chance… she makes you feel at home in a subway station… how does she do it? You gotta come to see her work her magic. -
Review 73 (2023-01-20 - Rating: 4)

Incredible service from the excellent bartender Leora -
Review 78 (2023-01-16 - Rating: 4)
Pros- the decor is super fun, very 80’s neon penthouse chic- the drinks are well balanced and creative- the sections are separated by alls which keeps the noise downCons- the energy at the bar was seriously lacking; I would expect a much more exciting vibe from somewhere trendy like this- the tables in the banquette area are super tiny, suitable for 2 people maxOverall it was a novel idea and I’m glad we tried it out, but I won’t rush to return -

I love any place with the title speakeasy in it. This place hits the mark. You would never know it existed until you looked it up, and its well hidden in the subway station. Just make sure to follow the directions and go underneath the pharmacy store. Nice ambiance. -

Review 102 (2023-11-26 - Rating: 5)
An amazing hidden find in Midtown - an area not really known for great cocktail bars. Great service and we found all the cocktails exceptional - well balanced with great flavors. I had a Kiss & Tell and it was my kind of drink - smoky with bourbon and fernet. A great option after a show. -

Great bar to unwind pre or post meal with friends. The Food I rated here means drinks. Ambience and music were incredible, and the cocktails were great, from the frozens to the martinis. What made it really stand out was the service and friendliness of everyone from reception to the bartenders and servers. It made this tiny place feel magical. This is not the place for intimate conversations, though, because music, as with most bars, are a tad loud for talking. I know where to bring friends now when were in the area. -

The house cocktails were delicious. The drink presentation was stellar, and we got to connect with the manager, Chance, the Queen of Operations. She had the coolest vibe in the place. Made the whole experience amazing. The whole place is located in the subway entrance downstairs. Like someone decided there was a closet not being used so they just put a super cool bar in there. (It’s bigger than a closet)The atmosphere was so cool and all the people we got to work with were awesome.HIGHLY recommend this place. -

Review 122 (2024-03-05 - Rating: 4)
The ambiance was ok. Drinks were overpriced but interesting and the waitress was helpful when we asked what drinks she liked. However, there was a man who verbally lightly accosted us and told us his 9/11 story. Definitely some kinky stuff happening in the bathroom. Would rate -

Review 127 (2023-11-15 - Rating: 5)
Nice little secluded spot in the heart of New York city. The queen of operations, Chance, shows nothing but love and respect for every patron that comes in. Charisma and attitude is the vibe here. The bartenders are extremely talented and passionate about every drink they make. Look for Leora, shell make your drink with nothing but love. Only invite people you like. This is a spot worth keeping sacred. -

This is a unique bar in the subway. Considered a speakeasy but not so much. Its not a secret :) But Kourtney the bartender was absolutely great, the music was great and the entire Vibe was what kept me there. It was cozy & warm. Definitely going back. -
Review 129 (2024-03-24 - Rating: 4)
Cool concept of a bar in a subway station. Door was wide open which kind of detracts from the “speakeasy” vibe but still a great idea.Drinks are stiff, service was friendly. Quite expensive even compared to other expensive NYC cocktail bars, but worth a visit -

Review 138 (2023-09-28 - Rating: 4)
I was curious about this place because of it’s unusual location - in a subway entrance. It has a cool vibe, dark with neon lights and a variety of cocktails. My only complaints are that the music was a bit too loud to have a conversation without needing to yell in someone’s ear. And they only have one bathroom which always had a line. Probably won’t go back, but glad I checked it out. -

Descend the dark, decrepit smelly subway steps to find this dark, small bar. Great service. Good bartender! Cool place. Not overly hip and welcoming to all clientele. -

Cool bar with a speakeasy vibe. Bartenders have a great selection to mix from and excellent craft. The drinks are a bit pricey, but as you see, those Martínis were very healthy pours, and not skimpy. -
