Intimate space that feels almost private, a truly impressive cocktail experience. From host to service to drinks you will be treated well. Our personal bartender, Bobbi, was fabulous. Her welcoming charm helped us navigate the bespoke menu. The resulting cocktails were both intriguing and delicious. They honored our 3 year anniversary with complementary shots, my lady even got her chair proctored by the host after she used the powder room. Excellent experience overall and being in the neighborhood, we will be back! -

Wow! The presentation and flavor of the cocktails were absolutely incredible. Savory cocktails are so interesting and my new favorite drink. Excited to go back next time and try the omakase. -

Amazing cocktails, enchanting space, warm, engaging staff, Michelin quality bites, and an unforgettable experience!Perfect upscale date spot or special occasion, but cozy and friendly as your local bar – they make you feel like a star ✨.Start your journey with the mind-bending Hot and Cold Toddy 🔥🧊🍵, then get the show-stoppers – Tropicana (of your dreams) 🍊, Dirtiest martini (if you dare)🍸🫒🫒🫒 – and follow up with the sophisticated twists on classics. They also host events regularly – visiting top international bartenders 🌍 and fun parties 🎉.The Beverage Director, Jon, is a maestro, drawing on Noda’s kitchen 👨🍳, modern technology, and his own magic 🪄 to craft one-of-a-kind creations!Understand that this is a small, upscale place – good for a couple drinks and delicious snacks, not dinner and hanging out: the highlight of your evening. Drinks are expensive, but thoughtful: you’ll remember them long after the night is over. You can splurge on wagyu, caviar, and uni chawanmushi, but if you’re hungry, the mushroom rice bowl 🍄🍚 is a steal (add the pork belly 🥓)!A truly special, world-class place – worth the trip, and repeat visits! -

The cocktails at Shinji’s were incredibly inventive and delicious!🍸🍸🍸We had the foie gras sidecar (this one came with a little bite in the “sidecar”), the dirtiest martini, shish mojito, and soba cha cha cha.Price was a little steep but if you’re looking for an elevated experience at a cocktail bar, this is a great choice. -
Review 5 (2023-05-21 - Rating: 4)
The orange drink was the most delicious-make sure you read about how it’s made on the Resy blog. I didn’t find it too small as others are saying. I think it’s small and intimate with a great vibe, perfect for a date. Reserve or come when they open for seat. 4* because drinks are premade so the wow factor on the mixology is a bit reduced. -

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a fantastic establishment that left a lasting impression on me. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with exceptional service and a warm atmosphere. The drinks offered were absolutely delightful, especially the Japanese whiskies which were a true highlight. The attention to detail in every aspect of the experience was truly commendable. The delicate and delicious food offerings were a delight to the senses, with every ingredient thoughtfully selected and expertly prepared. I couldnt help but appreciate the care and skill that went into each dish. One thing that stood out to me was the music playing in the background. It was set at the perfect volume, allowing me to conduct my business meeting without any distractions. It created a pleasant ambiance that enhanced the overall experience.I can confidently say that I will be returning to this establishment in the future to indulge in more of their fabulous Japanese whiskies and to enjoy the exceptional service once again. If youre looking for a place that offers an unforgettable experience with excellent drinks, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere, I highly recommend giving this place a visit. -
Review 7 (2023-06-16 - Rating: 5)
Theres a very 80s conspicuous consumption aesthetic, with prices to match, but the quality of the food and cocktails more than supports it. The staff are deeply skilled and very fun; the drinks are incredible; and the food is tiny but delicious. Skip this place if youre looking for a hearty meal or youre on a budget, but for a special occasion or for the price-insensitive, they absolutely deliver. -

This place is amazing, great for a date, has excellent cocktails and good service 👏🏼 -
Review 9 (2024-11-18 - Rating: 5)
Their cheese sandwich and potato chips are amazing. The drinks were also unique and good. I ordered the honeypenny (very smooth and strong) and latte martini (better than any espresso martini I’ve had). Yes, the drinks and food can be expensive but quality is great. You get a lot of personal interaction with the bartenders. And the service is impeccable-even gave my date and I shots at the end. -
Review 10 (2023-01-05 - Rating: 5)
The experience was wonderful. The staff are really nice to us and even gave us drinks on the house. The decor of the bar is very lovely. Definitely will go again -
Review 11 (2023-04-17 - Rating: 5)
One of the best bar experiences in North America if not the globe. The drinks are truly next level and the service is nothing I’ve ever experienced. The bartender Ryll and the manager Beau were some of the friendliest and most entertaining guys I’ve ever met. This is a special place! -
Review 12 (2023-12-26 - Rating: 5)
Worth the $, bartenders were educational without being insulting, diverse unique drinks -
Review 13 (2022-09-27 - Rating: 5)
Gorgeous bar, incredible service, inspiring cocktails! Come here for a special occasion.ATMOSPHERE: Youll be blown away by the decor and the stunning booths before you even order your drink.SERVICE: Every cocktail comes with a fabulous show - the dry ice hitting the ground had my jaw dropping every time! Fantastic - everyone was fun, friendly, informative!COCKTAILS: The Tropicana cocktail is a must. Easily the most delicious cocktail Ive had in NYC this year. -
Review 14 (2024-01-11 - Rating: 5)
Top notch cocktail and “fine bites” experience. One of my all time favorites in NYC. Was surprised to see that reviews aren’t higher — quality is expensive, and in this case, absolutely worth it. Their fish/kitchen dishes are in partnership with Michelin-starred Noda next door. Cocktails are on par with top cocktail bars in Singapore/Hong Kong/Tokyo. Expecting to see this listed in World Top 50 Bars soon. -
Review 15 (2024-01-06 - Rating: 5)
From walk in, I was super impressed by the decor and customer service experience from the sweet guys at the door. I booked a table which was a bit cramped and they were nice enough to move us to the bar when it freed up. Bobbi was an amazing bartender with showmanship but also care in recommending drinks. I’m not indulging in alcohol and the mocktails made me feel just as included in the experience and her eye for what would be good based on my simple ‘something sweet’ request was amazing! I will be back after my no alch stint because I want the hot cold toddy for sure. Thank you for a great time. -

This place is an incredible cocktail bar! 🍸 Shinjis serves an unbelievable selection of unique alcoholic drinks!🍹Definitely try the Hot 🔥 Cold ❄️ Toddy shot 🥃 - its guaranteed that this is something you have never tried before! The service is impeccable and the staff 👨🍳 is super friendly and professional with drinks 🥤 being made and served table side. This spot is beautifully decorated 🛋️ with an amazing interior design and ambience! 🎶 Will definitely come back here. I wish I came here earlier! -
Review 17 (2023-04-04 - Rating: 5)
Came to see what the buzz was about, left on cloud 9! Time and time again, the Shinjis team finds a way to curate the experience just for you. The space is intimate and they take no short cuts to make sure you feel how special it is to have you with them. The folks arent lying when they say people make the place. The academy was also not kidding when they presented Shinjis with the Star. Brilliant cocktails and exquisite bites. What a delight! Cant wait to visit again! -
Review 18 (2023-12-20 - Rating: 4)
Drinks: Go for the cocktails if you’re coming to Shinji’s. Beautiful table side-made cocktails.Food: They use tuna scraps from their attached (and delicious) omakase restaurant but their actual omakase restaurant is top tier but extremely overpriced and limited food options. Make a res with the omakase restaurant if you want good sushi. -
Review 19 (2023-04-17 - Rating: 5)
Walking through the doors of Shinji’s is transporting. As you enter from the bustling street into this intimate space, you will quickly find yourself at the center of the staffs’ attention. Every detail is catered to your particular relationship with your own experience like a choreographed dance with your senses. At center stage sit elaborate cocktails that will open your eyes to new culinary possibilities and flavors. Reserve yourself an opportunity to sit here while you can as I am sure, in time, the chance will soon be hard to come by. -
Review 20 (2023-01-05 - Rating: 5)
Brought in the New Year @ Shinjis, couldnt have chosen a better place to start 2023. The ambience was very cool , great for date night or truly any occasion. The hostess Sandra was absolutely lovely, making sure we felt comfortable at all times. Would go back for sure! -
Review 21 (2023-04-17 - Rating: 5)
This place exudes a certain air of magic. The cocktails are designed; not by someone whose history is steeped in years of mixological tradition but one whose expertise primes him for culinary creativity. Jonathan humbly accepts credit for his liquid objet d’art while Mark vivaciously sings his praises in execution. Should you find yourself in a proximity whereby you can reach this destination by any means, please go for I believe that in a few short months, reservations for this beautiful bar will be few and far between. -
Review 22 (2023-12-29 - Rating: 5)
Outstanding list of cocktails. Unusual presentation. Regarding the food, collaboration with mode left me speechless, trying that house fermented root beer over icecream. -
Review 23 (2023-01-31 - Rating: 4)
Total damage of $234 after tip. 2 cocktails, chips, pork belly mushroom rice bowl, tuna hand roll, beef tartare. The decor and ambience was great. The cocktails and chips were unimpressive, but the idea of the Tropicana is cool - a cocktail in a hollowed out orange. The beef tartare was amazing - might come back just for this. Everything else was average. Service was great though!I definitely can get better value elsewhere - doubt I’ll come back. -

Had an incredible experience at Shinji’s!! The drinks are so creative, the service was great, and the food was really impressive. As other reviews have highlighted - it is expensive, but know that going in and know it’s really high quality and a fun experience. -

Review 28 (2023-07-04 - Rating: 5)
Shinjis is an extravagant cocktail bar in Flatiron that opened in front of its sister restaurant, the Michelin-starred omakase spot NoDa, late last year. The intimate18-seat space is anything but subtle, with geometric lanterns floating from the ceiling to the large decorative octopus keeping watch over the bar. The drinks follow in this theme, with over-the-top table side service and whimsical presentations.Beverage director Jonathan Adler meticulously curated a list of unique drinks that offer a certain level of childhood nostalgia while still remaining elevated. The perfect example of this is the Tropicana cocktail, which is served out of a frozen orange. The drink hits vou with immediate comforting flavors of creamsicle as soon as you take a sip through the iconic red and white spiral straw.Dont miss out on Shinis incredible take on a Vesper or their luxurious bar bites either. The food at Shinjis is prepared with the same high quality ingredients as NoDa - the toro handroll and Wagyu Sando were incredible.Come to Shinjis when you are looking to splurge on a truly unique cocktail experience. -

Review 31 (2023-05-16 - Rating: 5)
My wife and I made a reservation here at opening on a Tuesday before an event in the area later that evening. Upon arrival, we were seated at one of the four booths adjacent to the semi-circular bar, which itself only has 8 seats. While we were only there for cocktails, we did enjoy perusing the lavish food menu of high-end bar snacks and other Japanese delicacies before selecting our drinks. The cocktail menu is divided into interesting, proprietary house drinks that are high on production value and plush ingredients (a cocktail served in a hollowed out orange, a sidecar with fois gras, etc), and the establishments take on classic cocktail recipes. We opted for the Honeypenny (a honeyed variation of a Vesper martini) and the Flatiron (their localized Manhattan variation), before moving onto the Daiquiri and Last Word (house variation). Given that we werent seated at the bar, our server delivered our drinks via a trolley and performed the final preparations tableside. The cocktail glasses were dramatically chilled with liquid nitrogen, which is poured from a silver pitcher and is then left frothing in the glasses as the server shakes or stirs the pre-bottled cocktails (which are poured from a 750ml wine-style bottle into the mixing vessel). We found all four drinks to be well-balanced, nuanced, and expertly proportioned to deliver the familiarity of the classic drink itself, while lending a unique slant via other subtle flavors. The service was great, the space was very chic, and we loved the drinks. All of the criticism about exorbitant pricing seems a bit unfair to me. Sure, the wagyu sandwich is $120, but I found the drinks priced in the mid $20 range to be of good value- this place certainly beats any of the stuffy cocktail bars in Midtown that are charging $30+ per drink for a lesser experience. -

This is not a dive bar lol. The cocktails here are amazing. It’s a little pricy but you are in Manhattan. FAR from the most expensive cocktails in the city. The vibe is immaculate and cozy. Great for a special occasion or a nice date. -

The handrolls from shinji are just one reason why you should head over. The inventive cocktails, intimate and sophisticated atmosphere and and amazing service are perfect for a slow weeknight drink with a bite. -

Review 38 (2023-08-11 - Rating: 4)
With top notch drinks and theatrical service, I truly enjoyed the cocktail experience at Shinji’s.It’s a very intimate space with only 18 seats, and we almost missed it walking past, with blacked out windows and a nondescript door that almost looks like a vacant storefront. But after tentatively opening the door, the vibrant, extravagantly decorated bar was certainly not what I expected on this unassuming block of Flatiron. The service here was impeccable, and all the drinks were made tableside, several with dry ice as part of the process. The mojito and Tropicana (served in a frozen orange) were both excellent, as was the Naked And Almost Famous. The Hot Cold Toddy shot was also very interesting, with cold on one side and hot on the other.All-in-all, I’d definitely come back here for both the spectacular service and the interesting cocktails. While prices were high, they were on par with other cocktail spots of this caliber in Manhattan. -

CHEF OZZYS exquiste presentations of our meal choices were outstanding. The taste and quality of my plate choices caused my taste buds to celebrate the essence of pure pleasure. It was so wonderful to be treated special by the entire team. Was in NYC for the main Columbia University graduation..it was CANCELED. My sadness was turned togladness by Chef OZZYS charm and food. BIG SHOUT OUT to Shinjis! -
Review 41 (2024-05-18 - Rating: 5)
Chef Ozzy treated me and my family so well! Went for a graduation celebration because I couldn’t walk due to the times; was an absolute blast. Ate new flavors I never would have tried and the bartenders served great cocktails. When I asked them to make me something with hojicha they came back with a juicy rum mixture that was a great night cap. Little bites, but best best best toast I’ve ever had. -

Fantastic experience!!!!I came here the first night and Shinjis did NOT disappoint! The first drink I had was the Hennessy fioe gras side car and it was delicious! Every drink is so meticulously thought out and executed to perfection. My second drink was the Tropicana, and even though I am not a sweet drink person- this was the exception! After my yummy drinks I got a caviar hand roll to complete my experience in Shinjis, only to have me wanting more and looking forward to my next visit. -

Review 51 (2023-01-03 - Rating: 5)
Shinjis was so memorable! Great ambiance, so sexy for a date night, intimate and everyone was friendly. David was our bartender - super knowledgeable, kind and even conversed a bit with us. Sandra is gorgeous, So generous with her hospitality and time and made sure I had a seat and was greeted by everyone behind the bar. We met Chef Nelson who was extraordinarily charming and generous. He took time to speak to us about the menu, his visions for future dishes and we bonded over the fact that were both from Queens. Excellent staff with potential for Michelin star status. -

The hype on the Tropicana; It’s legit. Your brain will travel through nostalgia, confusion, enjoyment, brain freeze, then back to center. Cool drink, cool place, cool people, I can’t even believe they let me in. -
Review 55 (2024-03-12 - Rating: 4)
The Tropicana drink was quite creative but overall the experience was overhyped in my opinion. -
Review 56 (2022-09-28 - Rating: 5)
Absolutely stunning!✨Are you into swanky chic cocktail bars? This is this place for you. One of my cocktails was served inside a frozen orange (what?!) and if that wasn’t enough, a caviar hand roll made right in front of you will blow your socks off.The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend - definitely one of the coolest bars in NYC right now! -
Review 57 (2023-01-17 - Rating: 5)
We loved our experience. The service is impeccable. Bartenders are not busy and friendly since there is a only a few seats available; you just need to raise your hand and you’ll get a new drink in no time. 2 bar tenders for 20 people is great and of course pricey. -
Review 58 (2023-01-13 - Rating: 5)
Beyond Brilliant. The beverage program here is unlike any other you’ll find. From the staff to service, everything was incredible. I highly recommend anyone to come and see for themselves before you let these negative reviews cloud your judgment. -

Review 62 (2022-11-26 - Rating: 5)
Very cool new cocktail spot. The service is on point and the drinks and bar bites were excellent.Definitely a science to the cocktails that are being created here. The spot it cozy. About 8 to 9 bar seats and a few lounge type booths. They do bring a cart to your lounge seats to make the cocktails.I was a walk up and got a seat in 30 to 45 minutes. I just hung out at a bar couple of doors down.and they shot me a text.Be warned this is a high-end place and may not be what you would usually pay for a cocktail. If you want to impress a date this will. The entrance to this bar is via the door marked Noda. Noda is behind the Bar when you enter. -
