Small dark space - incredible whiskey selection and a couple great beers. Some really good cocktails as well. Space is very intimate but it was easy to find a spot. We had the penicillin and were pretty into it. Prices are normal. Great spot in the uws.

Ive never had whiskey before, because my mother always said it was an undignified drink for women. At the risk of appearing unladylike, I stumbled into The Hamilton with the intention of trying whiskey for the first time. As I was internally battling with my mothers judgement, a kind bartender named Ross noticed me looking troubled. He could tell immediately what my predicament was. I was surprised how intuitive he was. He assured me that women drink whiskey all the time, and its completely normal. Ross allowed me to sample a few different kinds of whiskey, and I really loved how it made me feel! Ill admit, I did feel slightly more boisterous after consuming the samples, but Ross assured me that it was okay to express myself! At the end of the sampling, he fixed me an elegant cocktail, and I was again reminded of my feminine demeanor. I loved being able to let loose while sipping a delicate cocktail. Who says women cant drink whiskey??? THIS woman can and WILL! Thank you Ross.

The best bar in NYC hands down. Walk in planning to only have one drink...leave after 15. The best atmosphere in the area and an unbelievable staff. Joe is the best bartender in NYC!

I used to come here all the time when it was The Dam, and I do miss that place and the bartenders. But I must say that the space has been completely revamped and has a nice, low key and classy atmosphere. The food is great, including their grilled cheese and their charcuterie and cheese plate. Great selection of cocktails that are at typical Manhattan prices (well, about $3 less than someplace in The Village, which would approach the vibe of this place). So cocktails are $12, very well executed. And the bartenders are generally nice, particularly the good Scottish lad.The crowd and feel has changed since the days of The Dam, and I will cherish the memories I made there. But I am happy to welcome this new spot to my neighborhood. Excellent in my experience.

Excellent small venue with very large selection of bourbon and portraits of Alexander Hamilton. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable and it is a good spot to take a small group. The beer selection on tap is around 6 beers, but well selected. I highly recommend.

Nice cocktails and beer selection but not overwhelming. I had the oaxaca old fashion which had a nice smokey flavor. Its a cosy little bar that wasnt too crowded on a summer Friday. They also have whisky flights that are a bit price but might try next time.

The Hamilton is a great addition to the neighborhood, and is the best use so far of the small space that has had two other identities over the past several years. Its owned by the same people who run the whiskey bar Caledonia on Amsterdam between 80th and 81st. Their whisk(e)y selection is huge, and cocktails, beer and a few wines are available too. Unfortunately, the Hamilton had to cancel its fantastic Sunday brunch last summer due to lack of interest, and they seem to have a tough time holding down enough help in the kitchen to keep their dinner menu available all the time. But the space is primarily a whiskey bar, and I dont have any complaints with their selection and service! Its original bartender Allen needs to come back more often, though.

Solid deli near the Columbia campus. Despite being a small space, they do an amazing job of cramming a huge variety of items and foods. They have a surprisingly good salad bar and a wide array of grab and go food items for between classes. They also have a lot of drugstore items in case you need anything.

Been coming since it opened. This bar is awesome. All the staff, new and old, are solid, friendly bartenders. Alan, Sarah, Ken, and Joey are the best set of bartenders this worlds ever freaking seen. You want whiskey? Theyve freaking got it, with or without an E, rocks, bitters, peat, or whatever else can come with whiskey. They even have beers and cocktails if you cant handle the pure liquid gold thats a good whiskey.

I made the biggest mistake by ordering their Monte Cristo sandwich, Im addicted now. This place is the greatest option to have a fast lunch near Columbia, their sandwiches are amazing and the salads are pretty solid too.Once you become addicted too, ask for your sandwich card so you can get one free sandwich eventually.
