Ive been buying from Maritza Cakes for over 20 years, and they truly have the best Dominican Cake, which is soft, fresh, and has just the right amount of sugar. Im giving this place a 5 star because it one of the BEST cakes I have tried. Im not of fan of sweet stuff but this is by far on my top 3 list of the best Dominican cake you will find in Washington Heights. My cons about this place is that is very tiny for the amount of people that come in and out of this place, they ask you for a time to pick up your cake and once you let them know they say no we dont start until X time. (why ask me then). They have gotten pricey throughout the years Ive been dealing with them, you must be very detailed when asking for specific cake at your liking. Other wise I would recommend this place.

This place is so small you can miss it if you walk by quickly so keep your eyes open. The cakes made in this establishment are phenomenal. I travel from central NJ to pick up a cake every time I have an event. The $15 toll, unavailable parking, and traffic congestion is WORTH IT!

I ordered a Dominican cake for my sister who retired.The lady who took my order was pleasant. At the store the young man who took care of me was also pleasantand polite. It was my first time ordering from DMaritzas and it will not be the last. I must say that the cake wasdelicious. It was very fresh and the frosting so creamy. We totally enjoyed the cake. The main point of coming here is the Dominican Cake, which is moist and sweet, with a sugary/crunchy icing. Ive had Dominican Cake elsewhere, and the cake here is so much better than anywhere else Ive had it. The Pastelitos are okay, but something I expected to be better was the flan/chocoflan. Since Ive made it b4, I know that the Sweetened Condensed milk gives it all the sweetness it needs. However, I didnt think the flan was sweet nor creamy enough, although I liked the thickness. One thing I appreciate is the ability to pay via card via a secure link, which greatly increases the privacy while paying.

I ordered some cupcakes on Saturday for a birthday celebration on Sunday for a collegue from work. The flavors were Confetti, Red Velvet and Chocolate. Some of the cupcakes didnt look like what I was expecting especially the Confetti ones because Ive seen that they make them lighter and the texture of the cupcakes didnt look as fluffy as I wanted it to look. To my surprise the kids thought they were really good even though I thought they looked like muffins but kids are honest and they quite enjoyed them and even wanted more. Ive also ordered from here before and they didnt disappoint me last time either with a pineapple cake .
