A little hidden gem. If you’re looking to lounge out, this spot is not for you. But if you’re looking to enjoy a unique/special coffee blend of mushroom and espresso bean while enjoying a cozy(maybe tight) sitting, head in. You don’t have to order to stay, you can take to go. We like this place and will definitely be back for our weekend morning outing around the neighborhood. -

I can’t believe I found this coffee shop on my short trip to NYC. Not only was the service exceptional but the food was excellent. The latte I ordered was the best latte I’ve ever had. A big added bonus was the most impressive latte art I’ve seen. Thank you for a wonderful coffee experience! -

I love coffee and during our visit to NY we found this small but awesome coffee shop that serves delicious coffees, yummy pastries and sandwiches. Their coffee art is very impressive. Staff is friendly and welcoming. A must stop if you are in the area. -

A small coffee shop with nice handcrafted expresso beverages. Customers whether locals or visitors continuously went in. Glad we got to try out. Good matcha latte and cappuccino. -
Review 5 (2024-11-27 - Rating: 5)
Great coffee and warm service. Enjoyed our breakfast and came back later to have a coffee again. There is no bathroom and very few seats, but it’s worth it to visit this place! -
Review 6 (2024-11-30 - Rating: 5)
Found this cute and awesome coffee shop and got the best Matcha in NYC!!!!!First time trying Chai Latte. Not my cup of tea but it’s still very good and I like the unicorn latte art🥰Would love to try the one and only beet latte in nyc and the pastries too! They looks really good! -

Had the pleasure of happening upon this wonderful establishment during their 10 year anniversary celebration. They were giving out free coffee and immaculate vibes. I was welcomed in warmly and felt instantly at home in this cozy space filled with excellent music and even better people. Enjoy life- drink great coffee. Come to Frisson Espresso. ☕️ ✨ -

Attention all coffee addicts! If youre searching for the best coffee in New York, look no further than Frisson Espresso. As a true coffee aficionado, I was blown away by their brew. This time, Hells Kitchen has outstripped even Little Italy. The rich aroma and perfect balance of flavors make each cup a masterpiece. Seriously, dont miss out on this gem! ☕✨ -
Review 9 (2024-07-08 - Rating: 5)
Staying at the Hilton Midtown (the citys largest hotel), Frisson Espresso was worth the early morning walk for quality coffee. Just off of Times Square on a block with historic buildings, its a small cafe with a large coffee menu. Their iced hazelnut latte was refreshing in the summer and well brewed. The cafe has a few seats, but most people get theirs to go. -
Review 10 (2024-10-26 - Rating: 4)
The coffee was excellent, but the space inside was quite cramped. The cake was quite burnt -
Review 11 (2024-10-16 - Rating: 5)
A small but mighty coffee shop walking distance from Times Square. Their ham and cheese sandwich was one of the best I’ve had to date. -
Review 12 (2024-06-10 - Rating: 5)
Small cafe that offers a good selection of coffee, drinks, and pastries. The staff were very efficient, especially considering the amazing latte art they were able to do.Coffee was good and strong, and the kouign amann very tasty.Definitely recommend! -
Review 13 (2024-06-24 - Rating: 5)
Wonderful little coffee shop. Friendly service, lots of light, and a good selection of coffees. Slightly away from the hustle and so often has seats available. -
Review 14 (2024-02-11 - Rating: 4)
Really chill and great service. The hot matcha was a little cold when I got it, but they made me a new one, without any hassle. The Kouign-amann/kouignettes was ok, i was hoping it would be a little more flaky. It was a little too dense. Perhaps because they reheated it in the small convection oven. Overall, a good place to get coffee. I came on a Sunday morning, not busy, and service relaxed. -
Review 15 (2024-09-19 - Rating: 5)
I go here every time I’m in NYC. The espresso drinks and pastries are consistently fabulous, and the service consistently friendly and efficient. -
Review 16 (2024-04-28 - Rating: 5)

Review 17 (2024-09-26 - Rating: 5)
Super cute hole-in-the-wall coffee shop, we actually missed it the first time walking down the street and had to come back 🤣 Delicious coffee, and a great atmosphere. -
Review 18 (2024-12-16 - Rating: 5)
Stopped in while visiting NYC and both my wife and I had some delicious lattes. Cool vibe and knowledgeable staff. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area. -
Review 19 (2024-12-01 - Rating: 5)
Cute little neighborhood gem with great coffee & snacks. Best coffee art work in a while!! -
Review 20 (2023-11-23 - Rating: 5)
Lively little locally owned coffee shop. Bakes its own pastries, and has its espresso blend and coffee blend coffee custom roasted in New Jersey. Yes, that’s not an off-Broadway punch line, even though it sounds like one. -
Review 21 (2024-12-04 - Rating: 5)
Really good Coffee and hot chocolate, the coffe and chocolate look really good. My favorite part was the design in my hot chocolate, day I got a sea horse, and in the second I got a bunny with a flower. -
Review 22 (2023-08-16 - Rating: 5)
Nice little coffee shop, with just plain good coffee. Nothing fancy with quick service. The ham & cheese croissant was nicely warmed up and very flaky. Ham was a bit on the salty side but its ham. -
Review 23 (2024-09-11 - Rating: 5)
This is by far my favorite coffee shop in the Times Square area. The staff has always provided a fantastic experience. The coffee and Lattes are excellent, the staff are more likened to artist that can rival the Bay Area. My brother and I alway had one dude make our coffees and each time it was perfect. We moved to New Mexico a few months ago but the memories provided by this place are forever. -
Review 24 (2023-08-08 - Rating: 5)
As a small business owner myself, I strive to make purchases from small businesses in NYC and not large chains.Frisson is a TERRIFIC small business coffee shop. There coffee is flat out AMAZING. The owner explained to me the careful process he uses to purchase beans, which come form another small business in Brooklyn.I work from home as an eBay seller and selling consultant, so I like to step away from my desk several times a day, and stopping by Frisson is a favorite destination.Ive had their cappuccino, lattes, hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookies. All terrific.Ive had children with me for a few visits, as they love Frisson hot chocolate. The staff is SUPERB with kids. I mention this as not all Manhattan eateries are the greatest with kids,Seating is available but very limited. But that being said, the few times Ive met seller friends for a coffee weve always been able to grab a seat. Our favorite table is the one right by the window. There is also 1 table with two chairs right outside. When youre in the area, stop by. Its well worth it. You will not be dissapointed! -
Review 25 (2022-09-18 - Rating: 5)
Small but great atmosphere. good coffee, and almond croissant was delicious - flaky, not too sweet; one of the best I’ve had. Great little place for morning coffee or just a quick pick me up. -
Review 26 (2024-09-03 - Rating: 5)
Cozy coffee shop. Ordered iced latte, cold brew and almond croissant. Iced latte was great, cold brew was smooth and not bitter at all and croissant was warm and soft. Also staffs were nice and friendly. The place is very small, but worth to try. -
Review 27 (2021-08-31 - Rating: 5)
Among our group, we had an oat milk latte, regular milk latte and cappuccino, and a iced berry matcha latte, and a spinach quiche. All items, especially all 3 of the coffees, were excellent and latte art was pretty as well. One of my favorite coffee shops in the Times Square surrounding area. The spinach quiche is quite filling though a bit expensive at $7.25 -
Review 28 (2024-04-14 - Rating: 4)
Cute little coffee shop not far from time square. The seating is limited but I didn’t have problem finding a spot. The service is good. I got a regular latte, which is good, nothing special though. -
Review 29 (2024-11-27 - Rating: 5)
Espresso almost as smooth as the carefully curated soulful playlist crafted by one of the baristas. Both baristas were charming and knowledgeable as well. Surprised it’s not more crowded for how nice it is— my good fortune! -
Review 30 (2024-09-01 - Rating: 5)
Neighborhood chill coffee spot. Nice people, great flat white. -
Review 31 (2024-05-01 - Rating: 5)
Yummy coffee with adorable latte art. The barista was very kind and patient. The actual space is quite small, so I only get takeaway. -
Review 32 (2022-05-25 - Rating: 5)

Review 35 (2022-03-06 - Rating: 5)
Sweet, small and cozy hipster coffeeshop in Hell’s Kitchen . They have WiFi and allow working from there. Coffee was good (had oat milk latte). Their mini pecan pie looked great so did the spinach quiche. -
Review 36 (2024-09-08 - Rating: 5)
Hands down best latte-art Ive seen. This is a classic new york coffee shop. Secluded and away from all the touristy places, perfect for when you need to escape the chaos and unwind for a bit. -
Review 37 (2021-04-03 - Rating: 5)
I quickly searched a nearby cafe while at Times Square (bc why support starbucks when you can support a small business?) and I came across this delicious place! The barista was so kind and created the perfect cappuccino! I told him I wanted it sweet but not overwhelming and he got it on the nose! The space was quaint and filled with awesome artwork! Definitely check this place out! -

Visiting from Houston, Texas and as business owners, we are always seeking small businesses to support when we travel. Im absolutely love the atmosphere and coffee. -The Hendersons -
Review 39 (2024-11-04 - Rating: 5)
I’ve been a loyal customer at Frisson Espresso for nearly six years, and I can confidently say it’s the best coffee shop in NYC. The baristas here bring true artistry to every cup, crafting beautiful latte art with skill and care, and their customer service is simply unmatched. A huge shoutout to Alex, who always brightens my day—coming here feels like a special experience each time. Frisson Espresso has perfected the art of making coffee a memorable ritual, something that’s rare to find in America. -
Review 40 (2018-10-19 - Rating: 5)
Hot chocolate was great, so as the coffee. This is a small place, gives kind of intimate feeling. Very nice, although it would have been even better if they had some more food such as croissants etc. -
Review 41 (2024-12-08 - Rating: 5)
Coming from Melbourne Australia, Im a total coffee snob. Couldnt get a proper coffee fix, that had soy milk, until I stumbled across the unassuming best coffee in Manhattan. Thank you, thank you -
Review 42 (2024-10-03 - Rating: 5)
Great place for coffee and acai bowls. Probably one of the best lattes Ive had in a long time. Highly recommend -
Review 43 (2024-07-04 - Rating: 5)
Sooooo smoooooooth! I drink oat milk lattes everywhere I go (see my other reviews). This was on an entirely different level. I dont know what they do. I dont know if its the coffee roast, the way they steam the milk, the pour...Whatever it is, it is AMAZING. Seriously. We only have one week in NY, and this will be our go-to coffee shop. Also, the latte art is fantastic! Friendly staff and interesting art are a plus. But even if they were mean, Id come back for that latte! -

Super great! Delicious mocha with exceptional crema artwork, and the best blueberry scone ever -
Review 49 (2023-02-22 - Rating: 5)
Pretty casual hole-in-the-wall third wave shop. The person working was super friendly both times I stopped by, and the espresso was delicious, more of a classic bitter chocolate profile than some of the more fruit forward shots youll come across. Dont settle for Starbucks just because you stayed in Times Square, walk a couple of blocks to a real coffee shop! -
Review 50 (2024-05-31 - Rating: 5)

Review 65 (2019-02-02 - Rating: 5)
Excellent quaint coffee shop tucked a few blocks from Times Square. Exquisite coffee and pastries. My wife and I had a latte each and then shared a bagel and chocolate croissant - all excellent - i barely got a bite of the choco-croissant because my wife enjoyed it so much! Not a lot of room or tables so if one is available snatch it up before you go to the counter. You’ll want to take a moment to rest and enjoy the coffee and the beautiful designs. -

Review 75 (2024-04-06 - Rating: 5)
I stumbled upon this cafe, lured in by the need for quality espresso to wake up from long flight, and let me tell you, it didnt disappoint. But, there was a moment that had me scratching my head. When I asked for a long shot, the staff seemed a bit lost, not quite sure what I was after. It took a kindly gentlemans guidance for them to get the hang of it. Watching this unfold, I couldnt help but wonder about the espresso lingo barrier in NYC cafes. Turns out, a long shot isnt as common as I thought in the city. Who knew? After a bit of back and forth, with the staff member checking in to see if he should keep the espresso flowing a bit longer, we got there in the end. And Ive got to say, the result was worth the mini espresso education session. The long shot was bold, smooth, and had a depth of flavor that took me by surprise. It was a reminder of how a little patience can lead to some pretty delightful outcomes. -
Review 76 (2022-11-25 - Rating: 5)

SO kind, SO friendly, and they always make my day. while I dont drink coffee, I can vouch for the tea and have seen some very impressive latte art :). the space is small, but still great for remote working or catching up with friends - right between 8th and 9th, but on a quiet block, so feels very calm and peaceful. if I could give it 6 stars I would. -

Best Latte I’ve found so far in the area.Close to Time Square.I’m reluctant to mention it as it doesn’t need to get any busier 😉They do use syrups for flavor Latte however; I’ve found that the portion that is used is not overly sweetened. Which is exactly what I look for. -

Nestled in the middle of the street, we almost missed this gem!It was New Years Eve and most places were closing early, despite this the young lady working saw everybody enjoying the delicious coffee and socializing with their families and kept her doors open 20 mins after close! Sweetness in more than just my cup! Will return next time Im in the area. -

I was thinking about what to drink, the barista recommended ordering a latte, promising beautiful latte art. However, the outcome……. It was still delicious though. -

Popped by to grab an iced caramel latte and the coffee is definitely rich and flavorful! I got a spinach quiche as well, which was fine (nothing super impressive). -

Awesome little coffee shop in a surprisingly quiet area of Manhattan. My boyfriend and I were in NYC for a Broadway show. We were staying in a hotel close by and ran in for quick latte and scone. AMAZING. We got a seahorse as latte art!!! How the hell did they do that all within 5 mins?! The latte itself was nice and smooth. I would love to have skilled baristas like this where I live. -

A nice coffee shop tucked away on 47th between 8/9... No frills but a bit of attitude. Friendly staff welcomed me to dine in and crafted a tasty cortado which was balanced and lightly creamy. Several good looking bake options, I was tempted by the scone but settled in the mini pecan pie as it was an item I dont see in many places. I got mine toasted up...I would recommend just going with it at room temperature instead if you like pecan pie sweetness, as the warming also continued to toast the top. A delicious two-bite snack. -

Here from Arizona- wonderful tasting espresso. Most coffee shops, I modify what I want, but how I typically have my coffee, it already comes that way here. Of course they can add sweeteners if you choose, but nothing here comes super sweet- no need to mask the taste of wonderfully pulled espresso shots! -

I had a great Cappuccino at a good price in NYC. They offered delicious treats (local bakery) the Canele was my favourite for that day . While the cafes size is small but the quality of both the coffee and the bakery make it worth a visit .A shout out to Andreas for his excellent service. -

Friendly service and great decor. The food is tasty, particularly the croissants on the sandwiches. The best smoothie Ive ever had. The only very minor hangup stopping me from giving all 5s is that it took a little longer for the food to come out for what it is. Otherwise a great experience. Highly recommend -

Theres not much available seating, but if you do get to find a place to sit there, it is definitely a good choice to sit there and read / work on something. The staff are extremely nice, which definitely adds up to the experience there. The coffee is pretty good but that sweets variety is rather limited. If you find yourself in the area in need of a small and somewhat cozy coffee shop, this is definitely the place to go. -
