A perfect place to go for coffee, the setting is spectacular, with the old London bus. The shady trees and tables allow you to sit back and enjoy a moment, relaxed and watch the world go by -

This spot is a true masterpiece. I’ve had Intelligentsia coffee before in other cities namely Chicago, so I was excited to try their one and only New York location at the High Line Hotel. This location truly delivers on both the coffee and the ambiance. They have two cafes at the hotel technically, one is outside in the double decker bus for quick to go orders and the second is inside the building in the lobby for full barista service. Both options are stunning and give off the same sophisticated vibes as the hotel itself.Intelligentsia coffee is always delicious and this location is no different. The drip coffee was smooth and flavorful. The staff were friendly and moved through the line quickly.Overall very impressed with this location even if it is out of the way on the west side. -

This cafe is located inside the Highline Hotel which is a historic landmark as it was previously a seminary from the 1800s. I had a delicious cappuccino and a lovely flakey pastry here. Came here on two separate occasions and each time was great. Sat out back on the patio behind the hotel lobby on a warm day. Friendly barista. . I struck up a conversation with a couple of people visiting NY . The photo is of a plaque on the wall in the hotel lobby. There’s some cool artwork also there by a local artist, Ingo Swann. -

The Avena latte will haunt me forever. Its the spiciest, most delicious, divine latte Ive ever had. I think its their take on a dirty chai but I dont even want to associate the Avena with the word dirty. Its too pure. I got it hot with whole milk once and iced with whole milk another time and both were 🤌🏻Also 5 stars for the atmosphere because every time Ive been there, theres so many cute dogs. -

Beautiful location with a small yard outside. On a beautiful day it’s hard to find an empty spot outside. Inside we especially like the old typewriters which you can actually use. The coffee itself is okay but not great. If you visit the High Line a short stop here is highly recommend. -

Lovely lil oat chai latte with a vibey patio. Great chill -
Review 7 (2024-07-26 - Rating: 5)
Excellent coffee! I usually go for a cappuccino or a pour over and it’s always great. I stop in fairly often as I work in the area and the baristas are always incredibly personable, kind, and knowledgeable! I love when a speciality shop is welcoming and that’s definitely the case here. -

Genuinely lovely coffee and inside The High Line Hotel with lots of seating options outdoors. The staff were friendly and the coffee really did hit the spot.A Must Visit Spot For Any Person Who Likes Coffee. -

Everything about my experience was AMAZING! The baristas were so friendly and made a great suggestion for a latte I never would have ordered and it was DELICIOUS! Also, had great convos with them. The atmosphere is pretty awesome too! -
Review 10 (2024-07-02 - Rating: 5)
It’s a great courtyard in the summer to grab drinks at (in the afternoons) or coffee (in the mornings). Dog-friendly, so you’ll see lots of neighborhood pups. You don’t need to be staying at the hotel to get a drink! -
Review 11 (2023-10-28 - Rating: 5)
It is a place I always like. Very beautiful and elegant atmosphere. It was an old theological seminary, turned into a 5-star hotel. -
Review 12 (2022-10-16 - Rating: 5)
Loved the Avena latte (similar to a pumpkin spice but better) and apple danish. -
Review 13 (2023-11-08 - Rating: 5)
Stumbled upon this coffee shop by chance and what a delightful find it was! The coffee was exceptional - rich in flavor and perfectly brewed. The space itself boasts a charming design and ample seating, making it a comfortable spot to relax or catch up on some work. Definitely a gem for coffee enthusiasts and casual sippers alike. Highly recommend for anyone passing through! -

Beautiful, romantic ambiance that has to be experienced to be believed! A true West Chelsea gem!Great for a cafe stop in the day, or wine and snacks in the garden at night. Also the chocolate raspberry croissants are immaculate.Up your next High Line date with a stop off 20th street at the High Line Hotel. -

Very good macchiato. However served in a paper cup not the same as a proper coffee cup. A little disappointed flavor changes -

One of the best spots in Manhattan to enjoy a coffee. Two beautiful outdoor spaces that welcome dogs. Always friendly staff and great coffee. Also they give a discount to cyclists. -
Review 17 (2021-06-18 - Rating: 5)
Had a great iced mocha stop here to take with me while walking the high line. There was an event at the hotel beside it that day, so there was a QR code available for us to order online. They brought the drink out for us after and it was all very efficient! -
Review 18 (2023-09-07 - Rating: 5)
Easily one of the most beautiful coffee shops I have ever been to. The location its at is surrounded by plants and has great outdoor seating arrangements. The baristas were accommodating with our requests and suggested us food to go with our coffees. -

Review 20 (2024-03-26 - Rating: 4)
It’s a special setting in the High Line Hotel. Come and sit in the lobby-style bar set up. The coffee is good, serving up a 7.8 Cortado. The flavour is good and the bitterness is held just about at bay. -
Review 21 (2018-10-16 - Rating: 5)
Awesome coffee shop in New York. Hidden in the hotel. Very antique style decor. Coffee good as usual. -

Review 23 (2023-11-15 - Rating: 5)
We were walking along the Highline when this building caught our eye and we went to check it out. Beautifully situated in a historic building, its ambiance drew us in. Loved the interior and it smelled so good. We got chai tea and coffee. All excellent. Theres a beautiful little sunken courtyard behind the coffee shop where you can sit outside and enjoy your beverage in the sun. I deducted one star on service because theres a little gate from the courtyard to a bigger grass courtyard and paved paths that doesnt have a sign saying its private and not to enter. We observed some people walk through this gate and my two children (12 and 16) walked into this area to look around and were scolded by a young woman who was working in the coffee shop. She then proceeded to make a show of looking around where we were to see if we trashed the place. It was clear that we were on our best behavior and didnt mean to trespass and I tried to assure her that we hadnt taken anything into this area but she wasnt very understanding. Seems to me that there should be a sign if they dont want people walking into the courtyard through this small unlocked gate. Or at least be kind and explain it nicely. Regardless, its still super cute and the coffee/chai was great. Id go again and Id probably still walk through the little gate. It was worth it to look at the architecture. -
Review 24 (2023-09-23 - Rating: 4)
Delicious coffee! nice and strong espresso. The views in the front and back are great. Nice place to sit and chat & maybe do some work. They have pastries they must be good because they sell out :) get em while they’re hot. People that work there have great customer service. Friendly, amiable and polite. Only Complaint is that their bathroom on was pretty gross. it needs better ventilation or matches. -
Review 25 (2023-05-08 - Rating: 5)
What a place. Intelligentsia is now my new favorite cafe. Located inside The Highline Hotel, this cafe knows what it’s doing. Friendly staff like all their reviews seem to have shared. And the coffee?? SO GOOD. Angie, one of the baristas, recommended the Avena Latte for me whose usual is a matcha or vanilla latte always with oat milk. The syrup is made in-house and the cayenne pepper sprinkled on top is perfect. Thank you for the best rec, Angie!25 years in the business and Intelligentsia continues to devote themselves to thoughtful and tasteful coffee. The customers are diverse and all look happy to be here. Some are alone, some with a friend, and some with children. But all with a confident choice of intelligentsia on this sunny 70 degree Sunday afternoon. And yes, plenty of seating. -
Review 26 (2023-06-06 - Rating: 5)
Intelligent Coffee is one of our favorite brands and we have ordered as routine with friends for a while, so we were so excited they opened up their location in NYC.It is located on the 1st floor of The High-line Hotel. The decor indoor is classy & elegant and the patio is cozy, which is great for Instagram photos. They serve pastries from Balthazar, which is also our favorite so it’s definitely a perfect spot for breakfast or afternoon tea. -

This place is a gem - great baristas, high quality coffee, and plenty of lovely indoor and outdoor seating available. There’s a double decker bus in the garden where you can order and sip your drink during the summer. The space turns into a bar at night. -
Review 30 (2024-05-04 - Rating: 5)
This is one of the best coffee shops in NYC not only because of the brand from Chicago but also the space. Hotel and coffee shop combos are usually winners and this one is different. Tons of space here If youre looking to explore. -
Review 31 (2024-03-04 - Rating: 5)

Review 39 (2018-09-11 - Rating: 4)
Let me just put it out there, this place is so exquisite. I love the decor, the tranquility and the area this little coffee shop is situated in. It is a small yet busy coffee shop in the lobby of the High Line hotel. Everything about this place screams English pomp and elegance, and aesthetically pleasing decor. If I had the time, I would probably have sat and chatted the whole day, its that comfortable. The staff were helpful and knew their onions regarding taste, prep, temperature and presentation of good coffee! You will not be sorry for paying a visit in this little hide out... price was fair and well worth the trip! -

Good vibe. Nice coffee (they say, cause I don’t know anything about coffee). Highly recommended! Sitting on one of the sofas and couches here is really a unique experience. There is no pressure when you stay here long, and there are lots of puppies and doggies! Cool! -

Review 44 (2022-05-03 - Rating: 5)
Such a cool location for some good quality coffee. Super comfortable and very friendly staff. They had sofa/coffee table area to sit inside or a courtyard yard area but we chose to enjoy the coffee with a walk on the High Line elevated park built on a historic freight rail line. Super cool views. -
Review 45 (2021-05-31 - Rating: 5)

Review 47 (2023-11-24 - Rating: 4)
Good americanos, and cool atmospheres inside and out. The espresso was strong and flavourful, but the Americano wasnt as hot as I would have liked. -
Review 48 (2024-10-26 - Rating: 5)
Great coffee in a beautiful and friendly place. -
Review 49 (2019-08-19 - Rating: 5)
Always the most consistently excellent cup of coffee in the city. If you disagree, Id love to get new recommendations. The staff is always knowledgeable and helpful. The only complaint I would have is that sometimes I buy multiple bags of coffee and theyll still charge me for a cup of coffee. Seems petty but its been my experience that wherever I buy a bag of coffee, theyll at least offer a free coffee. Then again, its not always but its been like that the past few times Ive gone. -
Review 50 (2022-07-01 - Rating: 5)
Great quality coffee, no cream or sugar needed. -
Review 51 (2019-04-13 - Rating: 5)
Great cup of coffee in a beautiful location. We bought coffee and a cappuccino. They were really good. Admittedly, it’s the location that gets your attention. You can sit in the front, inside or in the back courtyard. Usually, the front is full and the inside is too small. The courtyard is the best and it’s very quaint. -
Review 52 (2020-10-15 - Rating: 5)
Seating inside, outside and couches and tables everywhere. Makes me almost wish I lived close enough just to come here and chill often. If you live in this area you owe it to yourself to visit! This place is super chill. First of all, the design is trendy and cool - really makes you want to sit there. The staff is friendly and always make you feel welcome. -
Review 53 (2016-01-13 - Rating: 5)
Excellent coffee in a cool hotel. In warmer weathers, coffee is served from a retro van parked on the front lawn of the hotel. In cooler weathers, theyre indoors in the chic lobby, with old school typewriters for those fortunate enough to snag a seat on the sofas. The baristas will also happily explain the taste profiles of their various blends before you make your choice! -
Review 54 (2022-04-26 - Rating: 5)
This coffee shop is part of the High Line Hotel. Lots of antique machines. Beautiful garden area with outdoor seating in the back. I had an Americano and it was delicious. Highly recommended for a rest and delicious drink. -

Lovely cafe in a boutique hotel. Great selection of drinks, cakes and pastries. Loved the atmosphere of the place and it was an oasis of calm for 30 mins while we escaped the heat and noise of the NYC streets in August. Recommended. -

Review 60 (2021-02-20 - Rating: 5)
We loooove this place. Walking from 28th street here every morning! Best coffee in Chelsea 😍😍😍 -
Review 61 (2021-09-16 - Rating: 5)
The coffee is very good. Better than a lot of watered down coffee you might get at a diner or a burned coffee from Starbucks. A really nice vibe and plenty of seats to sit , however, there is an air of people who might be pretentious. This mainly comes from the hotel. The coffee is served out of a bus like vehicle which is cool and offers seating on top. There isnt a lot of coffee shops within a few blocks so if you want coffee come here. Also, if you like people watching, you find plenty of bros and wanna bee rich moms. 😉 Lastly, this if youve been walking through the Chelsea Galleries, this is a good pit stop. -
Review 62 (2021-08-10 - Rating: 5)
Great latte and beautiful courtyard to enjoy your coffee. Visited this past winter to get a taste of their seasonal latte with some pumpkin spice. The latte was delicious and I really liked how they had nice seating options. Their indoor seating area was quite small, but they do have nice area outside to relax and take a sip of your coffee. -

Some of the best iced coffee I’ve had in NYC. Don’t bother with milk or sugar, this single origin cold brew doesn’t need it. Nestled in the Highline Hotel, the space, the friendly staff, and especially the coffee will make you glad you stopped in. -

Ive been to other Intelligentsia locations in California and the beverage quality is similarly high. If youre near the highline or staying at the hotel I definitely recommend checking it out. -

Good coffee. Note the drip coffee is inside not outside. Outside is very slow -

Pretty hidden, inside the High Line hotel, good choices of beverages and beans to take home! -

Drip coffee was good. Tumeric Shrug (sort of a mocktail) was DELICIOUS. -

Next level coffee. The avena latte was incredible. -

The cutest spot to meet a friend for coffee. Large “secret” back patio and obviously dog friendly 🐶 This is also where you can take the infamous “red bus” photo! -

I hate to review this place because I liked it so much, I don’t want it to get swamped with people. A lovely little oasis with great coffee! I got a whole milk latte and it was well-balanced and delicious! The ambiance of the courtyard made the experience a delight. Highly recommend! -

A coffee is a small price to pay to sit in this lovely garden. -

CoffeeGood coffee! And stylish. Very small sitting area inside but a very nice one in the back outside. Bring you paper, book or iPad and relax a bit. What you dont get is food. There are normally a couple of sweet breads under a glass but no sandwiches nor donuts. Just really good coffee. -

Great location right off the High Line. Coffee is good but you will wait a while if you order anything but a drip coffee. They have a back garden that’s beautiful but it isn’t always open to coffee shop customers. Limited seating inside, but there’s a front patio that’s open seating. -

Nice vintage and elegant atmosphere. Excellent well poured expresso. -
Review 143 (2018-08-09 - Rating: 5)
Quaint little coffee shop inside the Highline hotel. Their coffee is one of the most delicious coffees in Chelsea (or even NYC). They have a huge front porch and back yard seating but in winters its pretty limited seating indoors. They never rush into making that perfect cup of coffee so be patient :) -

The HighLine is a charming Old-World style hotel and my favorite place to stay. It has a great location and convenient to activities and entertainment. The personnel are very friendly and seem to enjoy their work. It has great outdoor spaces - lovely outdoor patio at the back and comfortable street side seating for lunch plus a bar. They even upgraded my room. The rooms are spacious with great beds. -

Solid spot to come and knock out some work on a rainy day alongside an upscale coffee beverage. -

My 2nd favorite coffee spot in NYC, behind only the Blue Bottle Coffee location at the Stock Exchange. Great coffee and amazing venue (but not if it is raining - it’s all outdoors). There is no sign on the street and it’s off the street in this little garden area. You can even sit on top of the double decker bus to enjoy your coffee. I would recommend. -

Did not at all expect how amazing their Ruby Oolong Tea was. -
Review 149 (2018-08-31 - Rating: 5)
Outstanding coffee from an iconic brand. There is a good selection of Intelligentsia coffee on the menu, as well as freshly roasted beans and memorabilia for sale. Bar is in the lobby of Highline Hotel and while sitting might be limited, place has a great atmosphere and is well worth visiting. -

Nice quiet place to have a cup of coffee. Can either sit indoors or out back and enjoy your coffee. Indoors can be rather on the dim side at times, though. Not too bad, but not great light if you want to bring a book to the café, for example. -
Review 151 (2015-02-15 - Rating: 5)
Excellent coffee in a great atmosphere. The Intelligentsia coffee is always smooth and strong, but what sets this spot apart is its location in the Highline Hotel. When its nice and sunny outside, coffee can be purchased at a cart in the patio, which features lots and lots of seating. Otherwise, when its colder, you can hop into the elegant lobby of the hotel and enjoy your cup there. -

Nice place to sit out of doors while sipping delicious coffee. -
Review 154 (2019-12-18 - Rating: 5)
Unparalleled coffee. Brewed/poured exquisitely. Theres simply no comparison to Intelligentsia. Not to mention the decor at the Highline location is wonderful. -
Review 155 (2020-01-19 - Rating: 5)
Had latte. Not so bitter so I liked it! At the time they had only one barista. The gentleman was courteous and made an amazing latte. It got crowded after lunch time on a Sunday. -
Review 156 (2020-01-02 - Rating: 4)
I love Intelligentsia. The cappuccino and latte is full-bodied and flavorful. This location is a bit underwhelming since it is in a small hotel lobby, but the beverage quality is as good as ever. -

We went over the weekend and found a space to sit easily. Coffee and chai tea were good and the foyer setting made them taste even better. Atmosphere could be warmed up by some music but still a great place for a short break. -

Great coffee, especially if youre a visitor from Australia or New Zealand who prefers coffee in smaller cups with a bit more punch. They do a nice strong flat white. -
Review 162 (2017-03-12 - Rating: 5)
Great place for coffee, especially for non-hotel guests, since so few people think to come into a hotel for this. Great space, and great coffee. You can work on your laptop on one of the comfy couches, or -- less comfy -- at the bar near the barista station. -

Best coffee in Chelsea, best staff in Chelsea, and the dog-watching is second to none. Hi Kat! -

Chicago based coffee place in a trendy hotel foyer. Lots of people on laptops. When the weather is nice, the outdoor seating is an excellent choice. -
Review 165 (2019-05-11 - Rating: 5)
Love their coffee and though the stylish indoor seating is limited they have a lovely outdoor seating area which is perfect on a warm day. -
