We love our neighborhood coffee shop! Coffee is great, pastries are great, wifi is great, staff is A+. Their matcha is the best in the neighborhood, I say this with confidence. My 3yo son loves to come here and interact with Ryan & co. They are good and genuine people, we really appreciate their deadpan humor and the way theyve always received us. If youre looking for a quiet place to work or think or just be, this is the spot for you. And bonus, they have a bathroom which is rare in this neighborhood.

Lovely coffee shop! If you’re in the area, it’s worth stopping by. I got an iced honey latte which was not too sweet, and a cinnamon bun which was so good! Flaky, tasty, I loved it.Service was 10/10. And very calm atmosphere, with some cute decorations!

Finally made it here to try the coffee and it was really tasty! I cant believe this is nearby in Inwood.Definitely pricey for two iced latte/mocha with soy milk at $6.50 each, but that seems to be the standard in NYC.They have lots of non-dairy milk options for $0.75 extra, as well as matcha, chai and tea, in addition to espresso drinks.I went later in the day so there were not as many baked goods left, so I figure they must be good lol. :-)Really nice set up, friendly baristas and worth patronizing a nice neighborhood addition!

A quiet shop with a relaxing vibe. I got an iced coffee to go which was flavorful and strong. I opted for vanilla flavoring and almond milk.I believe their best presentation lies with the dine in latte options which feature a nice bit of foam art on top. Check out the selection of pastries at the counter to go with your coffee as well.

I love the cold brew here! It’s very refreshing and a great pick me upper to start the day! I’ve also tried their matcha latte and I can honestly say it’s one of the best ones I’ve had since moving. The baristas are very kind and engaging and are willing to share their knowledge about coffee and just are nice to talk to. Perfect for reading a book and people watching too especially when you sit by the window and bonus for being so close to work. Definitely a gem!

I enjoy this place because I can find authentic matcha locally. However, Ive noticed a change in the staff. I miss the two baristas who used to work here. They were always so friendly and made their drinks with care. Recently, I noticed that one new staff member seemed overwhelmed working alone, and I didnt quite connect with the new British staff member. It would be great if the team could provide the same level of service I used to enjoy.

Really great experience here. Its definitely a local coffee shop, but I was made to feel very welcome, even as a visitor.Theres great coffee, plentiful plugs, good restrooms, and airy workplace. The only notable downsides were that there isnt any substantive food, and the stools are uncomfortable. All around, great spot though!

Update: After having moved away from NYC and tried many chais at many different coffee shops, I have to say that Kuro Kirin really still has the best chai Ive ever had. I still think about it. Certainly one of the best chai lattes in the city, and Inwood is lucky to have one so close!The chai here is quite good. This small Cafe is quite cute, clean, and relaxing. I was surprised to see that there was actually a few tables in the back where some people were doing work. I havent done so myself, but this looks like a great place to grab a coffee and get a little work done.Cash recommended but not required.

The coffee is excellent here. I love getting ice lattes as well as ground bags of coffee. The staff is lovely and knows what they are doing. I absolutely love the “everything croissants” they sell (think everything bagel with cream cheese and a croissant had a baby). All the pastry is great though. I love this place! Everyone is super nice, the coffee is Counter Culture and the staff prepare every drink with love and finesse. Great music, super fast wifi without restrictions and comfy, quiet spots to sit in the back. A nice bar up front, soaked in sunlight during the day. Its an awesome place to hang out and warm up. Drinks served in beautiful ceramics and pastries presented artfully on a little wooden tray...Its all very cute.

Reusable cups, anyone, anywhere?! Not in this area near Tryon Park, EXCEPT for this cute little café. We looked all over the area for a place where we can sit down on this cold day and have a hot chocolate without littering the Earth with more disposable stuff, and when we finally found a place that serves in real cups, we were thrilled by how exquisite the creamy hot chocolates were, with a pretty white flower drawn in the foam on top. The pains au chocolat (chocolate croissants) were also delicious, and so was the apple braided pastry. Best place to stop in if you are on a morning or afternoon stroll by the cloisters like we were today.

We arrived at this cafe at 5 PM. So, I opted for decaffeinated latte instead of the normal one. It was great! There wasnt anyone else at that time. So, we didnt have to wait. But its a pity that this cafes dessert options are quite limited. By 5 PM, very few is left. If you want to take coffee with desserts, its probably better to be there early.

When CVOID19 hit NYC I made it a point to support the local small business in Inwood. My normal on the go coffee at Dunkin Doughnuts or Starbucks became a WFH coffee run to Kuro Kirin. Over the spring and summer they always had a bowl of water for my dog to drink. The employees are super nice. I recently got into matcha and have tried it elsewhere in Inwood, but Kuro Kirin has hands down the best matcha in Inwood. The pastries are always fresh and delicious. If you make it to Kuron Kirin, definitely get the blueberry cheese danish.

I have been coming to Kuru Kirin since they opened. And kept coming even during the height of pandemic. I was extreme grateful they kept open during pandemic because it gave me something to look forward to every day. As a longtime Inwood resident I feel grateful to have a shop I can come to, meet friends up in and build a friendship with. All the workers l are always so kind and friendly. When I don’t come they notice 🥰. Kelly, Ryan and Sydney are my go to’s since they always make my cappuccino or cortado just the way I like it. Being someone that works and lives in the neighborhood I always to my best to support local shops. I hope they stay around for along time to come.

Kuro Kirin is my local independent coffee shop. I am very fortunate to have them. Ive only been in the neighborhood a few months, but I have always been satisfied when I consume from KK. The drinks and pastries taste very good. What keeps me coming back are the specialty drinks they make. Recently, they have offered a Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate and Dirty Oat Chai Latte. Both were yummy! They are vegan friendly, as they have an assortment of nondairy milk options. The baristas are friendly and efficient. The shop itself is quaint and modern-looking. They have frequent client punch card. I look forward to returning every week.

I love this place. Just opened recently and I loooving it! Have you guys seen the futuristic Netflix show 1983 set in Poland? This place captures the same vibe and energy from the visual aesthetics of that show. The interiors are simple. No brand, *cough* StarbuckBlueBottleNespresso *cough*, is pushed in ya face. The thing has kind of a co-op futuristic egalitarian vibe to it. The coffee is great. I always get the machiatto or cortado. Pastries are always fresh. There is room for seating on the back and a great picture window on the front to people watch pedestrians like a cat. Come and enjoy the coffee and stay at the back to blog or write a review like this one? Did I mention that the workers here are paid livable wage and have stock sharing options on the company? 1983 but not so dystopic!
