Famous for their brioche donut, also offering a great old-fashioned donut, pretty much anything they offer is tasting fresh and well. However, you really wanna be around on a Friday and get the Cinnamon roll, which tastes incredibly fresh while still being warm, my favorite pastry here.

They have the BEST espresso here. The baked goods are also amazing, particularly the brioche doughnut. MZD is the best addition to the Brookfield food court in a long time, and I hope they’re here to stay!

There are many must-haves in NYC. one in most peoples range is the Brioche Doughnut ($6 + tip) at Mah Ze Dahr Bakery. the doughnut is a fluffy soft yet densely layered doughnut filled with vanilla pastry cream, topped with a doughnut hole and sugar-crystal-coated. the doughnut is not overly sweet-- balanced between the richness of the brioche dough and the sweetness of the vanilla pastry cream. the softness of the dough, smoothness of the filling, and the crunch of the sugar coating takes this doughnut to another level of taste and texture. pairs nicely with a hot cup of coffee. Mah-Ze-Dahr translates to magic that makes food delicious-- a small luxury in NYC that you can treat yourself with or treat a friend to...this location is on the first floor of Brookfield Place, above street levelthere are a variety of sweet and savory baked options as well as a full coffee menu. take a break from shopping / errand running to enjoy a hot cup of coffee + a pastry while staring off over the lulling waters between a NYC and NJ on a wintry day.

I ordered an oat milk cappuccino, a croissant donut, and banana bread. The pastries were absolutely delicious and fresh, some of the best Ive ever had compared to other cafes. The cappuccino was very smooth and strong, exactly how I like it! Highly recommend!

$5/ croissantMah-Ze-Dahr was established in 2013 and founder Umber Ahmad opened her first brick-and-mortar location in 2016. Mah-Ze-Dahr is a Pakistani (Urdu) word that reportedly means ‘the magic or essence that makes something special’. Despite its Urdu name, from what I saw Mah-Ze-Dahr mostly follows French bakery tradition and adds some novelties/skews to this base. This is the only location that doesn’t have space for on-site baking so all the baked goods here are delivered from one of their other locations.Baking happens in the morning (as opposed to several times throughout the day) so the baked goods are freshest in the morning. That would be the best time to buy them. The croissant was excellent. It featured all the necessary characteristics that make it —a croissant, a proper one. Nice and buttery the way it should be. Flaky on outside the way it should be. Doughy on inside the way it should be. I was there around 3pm so yeah the only thing it lacked was freshness. And well yeah obviously overpriced… (Every bakery in France makes croissant this well for €1.20 so yeah unfortunately there is no New York artisan baker who will ever convince me that $5 is a sound price for a croissant).

To say that this MZD location has an unexplainable grip on my foodie-soul, is to still vastly underestimate the magnitude in which with Mah-Ze-Dahr and their staff, food, and ambiance has ethereally effected me. The pastries (made in house, wow!) are toasted, laminated, or gluten-developed (or not gluten developed they have a few gluten free options!) to perfection. The staff never fails to foster a home-y and welcoming environment for me and my kids (my youngest’s favorite is the Mah-Ze-Dahr bar). The brookfield location in particular, has seating that overlooks the battery and my wife (we met in highschool) loves to order a few coffees and sit here with me during my lunch breaks and it feels like we’re teenagers again. She loves the baristas, specifically these two (i think their names are Shelby and Teresa??) they joke and jest whenever she comes and it puts a smile on her face that can only rival our wedding day. Good prices.

Aw yiss, a genuine cold brew for once (not just iced coffee), long prep that makes even a dark roast feel & taste silky smooth!

Address is wrong. This bakery is in the main shopping mall Brookfield place, right above the omega store in the food hall if you take the escalators up you’ll see it. Try the Mah Ze Dahr bar, you won’t regret. I usually go for black coffee with something like that to keep the calories low. (lol, lower than with any milk)

Had the honor and pleasure of doing henna for their first Eid Chaand Raat event and the turn out was great! Was lucky to try some of the food and it’s so good! Super excited to return to this beautiful space with amazing staff.

The image of the piece of rich looking chocolate cake on the store front got me. 100% worth it. As rich as advertised. Worth every penny. Seasonal cider hit the spot too.

A fine clean bakery and the customer service from C.j. Is over the top naturally. No phony business here. THE SCONE IS WOW! CJ gave me a Jewish cake because he didn’t want to throw it away and that’s what he said and my response was: we do not throw away the Jewish ( cake)It was delicious thank you so much. Hope to see you all again.

They are on the second floor of Brookfield Place.A brioche doughnut is nice (a piece of culinary art, really).A croissant with julienne and parmesan is tasty, but too salty for me.I certainly will be back.

I work in the building, and am so excited Mah-Ze-Dahr has finally opened!! A gamechanger for work birthdays. Favorites are the cream-filled doughnuts, but also love the cream puffs, the amazing brownies (not too sweet!), and the cookies. Jelly doughnuts are good as well, but its a LOT of filling. Also the peanut brittle continues to slap

Hands down one of my favorite spots in the area. They have the best chocolate chip cookies Ive ever had, and the croissants are also very good. They make everything fresh on a daily basis and you can taste it. Great cold brew and hot drinks too. The staff is also super friendly. Shout out to Brandon for always having good recommendations and being so personable. Highly recommend.

  • Review 26 (2023-06-25 - Rating: 5)

Denise made me feel like I was the most important customer ever! She knows all about each product and seems to love every second of her day while at work. Such a joy to come to this place. I’m a loyal customer because of her. (And their trays of course! )Shelby was also super helpful and shared that the best things about working there are the people and food. ❤️

  • Review 28 (2023-04-06 - Rating: 5)

Some of the best croissants in NYC and definitely the best in this area. Part of a food hall inside of the shopping mall where you have to go up to the second floor to find it. Great coffee and great pastries!
