I’ve been dining at Pershing Square since it opened in the late ’90s, and it’s still one of my go-to spots, even now, when I no longer live in the NYC area. Conveniently located across from Grand Central Station, I find myself stopping in not just when I have a train to catch, but whenever I’m in the area. The menu may be limited, but I see that as a focus on quality over quantity. They always have a great wine selection, and the service is consistently attentive. Sure, I could go to ‘fancier’ places, but what keeps me coming back is the welcoming staff, the excellent food, and the attention to detail that Pershing Square is known for. I truly hope they’re around for as long as I am. -

The atmosphere of the establishment felt a bit off, with aspects that could really use some improvement in terms of service. Despite this, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, which exceeded my expectations. Each dish was well-prepared and flavorful, making the dining experience much more enjoyable than I initially anticipated. -

There are few places to get Belgian waffles a lot of places do pancakes but let me tell you this place does not disappoint although they were super busy they get the food out fast the presentation was wonderful and the quality was great the service was top-notch. (Although you do specifically have to ask for ice with your water if thats what youre into). I would definitely visit this place again next time Im in town -

Such a cute place right outside of Grand Central Terminal. My friend and I had breakfast here and their French toast was delicious. Our server was very kind and kept the coffee flowing and was very attentive. There is also a place to check your baggage if you need, which was very helpful for us since we were heading to the airport after! -

We stopped in here for breakfast on a Saturday morning in NYC. We were seated immediately and ordered with ease. The menu was simple, but everything we got from the eggs Benedict to the corn beef hash was fantastic. The corn beef was fresh. The fruit smoothie we got was made with real fruit and was a delight. Would definitely come here again! -

Everything was going well until til towards the end of the meal. This server came to the table and started clearing when we weren’t finished. He started taking the placemats and we were still enjoying our coffee and tea. We have to remove our cups from the placemats for him to remove them -

Found this gem of a restaurant while visiting New York with my daughter,Went in for breakfast which I must say was amazing as was the restaurant itself but the extra special moment was the time the owner took to come over and welcome us to New York and to his restaurant and bit crack on about football with been from Newcastle,Highly recommend this place and will be visiting Pershing square again👌👌👌 -

Place was good, their pancakes were tasty but I considered them a bit thin. Very pricey items -
Review 9 (2024-11-07 - Rating: 4)
Classic New York layout and atmosphere here. Wonderful service. Serves plenty of business-goers for breakfast before they begin the day around the buildings and also those looking for a quick shot of coffee. We had breakfast here and in particular the eggs set - was well done overall though nothing too fantastic I would say. Very American style and a good decent one at a pretty reasonable price. Alfresco dining also available. It can get pretty noisy indoors as well due to the morning crowd. Located within Grand Central Terminal and very visible once you exist via 42nd Street. Heard their waffles are great too; will be back to try in the future and maybe for lunch! -

We arrived early at the train station for our train so we decided to look for a spot to grab a bite to eat. What a gem of a place. We had a wonderful meal and was able to sit and catch our breath after a long day of walking. It was perfect. The restaurant was dimly lit, very romantic and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this spot. -

The Pershing Square is a top notch restaurant located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, across from the Grand Central Terminal. In June of 2023, I brought and treated my wife and myself for dinner at Pershing Square and we thank the staff for providing us with a wonderful dining experience!!!Both my wife and I were warmly greeted by the restaurant’s staff and were quickly provided with a table. My wife and I loved with the restaurant’s interior design and were impressed with its convenient proximity to many of New York’s notable destinations, ranging from the Grand Central Terminal, the New York Public Library and the Summit One Vanderbilt. The Pershing Square has been featured in numerous televised programs and movies, most notably the Avengers, which was partly what drew my wife and I to dine at this restaurant. Our server, Sanita did a great job on noting our orders, addressing our inquiries and offering great meal recommendations. Kudos to Sanita for her excellent service!!!Both my wife and I found our meals to be well cooked and perfectly delicious!!! Our meals could not have been made any better!!! I ordered and enjoyed a Turkey burger based entree while my wife loved her roasted chicken based meal. Our entrees were followed up with a superb cheesecake dessert!!!Thank You Pershing Square for providing us with a well-made meal and great service!!! -

Wonderful place to go for breakfast near Grand Central Station. Their breakfast potatoes are among the best I’ve ever had. Egg sandwich was delicious The orange juice was fresh squeezed, and everything was perfectly cooked. There was a line to get in, but it moved very quickly. -

A nice place for lunch across from Grand Central Station. My burger was cooked perfectly. The meat to bun ratio was a bit off, but it was tasty nonetheless. Nice service. Reasonable prices for the area. Nice outdoor seating if the weather cooperates. -
Review 22 (2023-11-20 - Rating: 4)
The place is really nice, the food can be better, it’s famous for the pancakes and the French toast. I got the avocado toast, it’s how I benchmark the taste of a restaurant.I will come back for another try, and I’m sure it’s gonna be better. -
Review 23 (2023-11-07 - Rating: 5)
We had made reservations thinking that it was going to be busy, but when we arrived, the place was empty. The service was good, and our server was able to give me a good suggestion for wine to have with my steak. The atmosphere was relaxing and appropriate for a date night with my husband. -

We had breakfast here before going to a Broadway show and it was very nice. We had a booth at the back which was great, if you can get those I recommend it. I love the old feel of the building which is under a bridge. Food was good and had big portions, I recommend the avocado toast. -

Review 33 (2024-10-17 - Rating: 5)
Excellent, kind and attentive server George, nice ambiance, spectacular location on E.42nd street directly across the covered street from the beautiful and Majestic Grand Central Station.Food was well presented and delicious, speciality drinks were also good and well presented. Skirt steak was a little under cooked at first, but came back at the perfect temperature, and was delicious. The place gives you a sense of going back to an earlier period of time in NYC, but with modern amenities.I would highly recommend a city visitor to try this place out, and having worked in NYC for many years, I can honestly say it’s a good place with good value. -

We needed a quick, restorative cappuccino and bite to eat to fuel an afternoon of sight seeing after a long drive to NYC. Pershing Square more than exceeded our expectations. We were quickly seated, served the best cappuccinos, the tuna tartar was divine, and the service was warm and expeditious. We left restored, refueled and ready to glow! -
Review 37 (2022-05-21 - Rating: 5)
This place is perfectly located under the bridge right in front of Grand Central Station on 42nd Street. Looks are deceiving because from the outside it looks like a very small diner, but once you walk in it is pretty spacious. The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing. Highly recommend this place if youre near the area and want to stop to have a bite to eat. -
Review 38 (2024-08-20 - Rating: 5)

Excellent food! I visited Pershing on a Saturday morning to have brunch. The atmosphere was great there was a lot of people and the feeling of being there was festive. An older gentle man at the door in suit was very welcoming. The food is filling and great comfort food! my friend had the chicken soup and highly recommends it! considering the location the price was awesome approximately $21 for the meal I ordered below. -

I invited an out of town friend to breakfast at Pershing Square Cafe and neither of us were disappointed! I had requested a booth by the window when I made the reservation and got it! Our waiter a pleasant and friendly young man called Gaverick gave us excellent service! The avacado toast with boild egg and feta cheese was delicious and the toast was crispy! The small salad that came with it was fresh and not soggy! They said the coffee is a special blend and indeed it was! Would definitely go there again! -
Review 44 (2019-07-17 - Rating: 5)
Super good breakfast.I was so hungry this morning and walked into the first breakfast place I saw. And was I right?!!!The place is super cute looks like an old train station but with pops of colors and coziness. Food is excellent. The homemade hash/potato is the best I have tasted. The nicely caramelized onion and perfectly toasted crispy skin potato chunks are absolutely excellent. Egg Florentine is tender and packed with texture and flavors. The egg is well poached, spinach withered but not greasy, English muffins are just slightly burned with a warm toasty flavor perfect to wrap up the creamy running yolk and slight bite of spinach.Happy eating -

A real breakfast opens early. Outdoor seating is perfect to enjoy the cool morning breeze. Coffee is refillable. You can enjoy sitting for hours. -
Review 46 (2024-07-25 - Rating: 5)
It is one of the fastest serving restaurants in New York City. I enjoyed the NY Chicken Pie and some fries. I was seated without any comments about my short sleeved t-shirt, and the waitress didn’t take too much time to attend to me nor too fast. It was the same situation with serving the food and the check. -
Review 47 (2019-12-25 - Rating: 4)
This is a nice American Diner just under the bridge at Grand Central Station. Its a big place with lots of tables inside the diner. Service is very good and the staff is polite too. Not the most authentic American Diner but its decent nonetheless. While you are here as a tourist, dont miss the Grand Central Station. -

Review 49 (2022-07-28 - Rating: 4)
Could have gotten a 5 star if they cater for gluten free. No gluten free bread/toast. I got the two eggs with corn beef hash. Absolutely delicious with generous portions. Also they don’t have sriracha!!! What???? We’re in NYC… no gluten free baked goods and no sriracha. Boo! However, their coffee was delicious. Staff was friendly and great service. -

Very cool and nice guys, I will definitly go there again.Update: went there again this year and i ask you all to try the Paris tea, its amazing. The cheesecake, although a bit pricey, tastes very well, worth a try! -

During my solo trip to New York City, I had breakfast at Pershing Square, which was recommended by a local. I ordered blueberry pancakes with bacon on the side and black coffee. The place was big, clean, and beautiful, with a great atmosphere. I got seated quickly, and the service was fast and polite. The prices were not low, but reasonable. Highly recommended for a satisfying breakfast experience. 5 stars! 🌟 -

First we had dinner and decided to take breakfast at the next day. It was awesome. Even dinner or breakfast was great! We had that feeling of the old diner from the 60ies. Very very kind waiters. And i personally loved the breakfast! -
Review 55 (2024-01-01 - Rating: 4)
Right after a visit of Grand Central Terminal, I was delighted to find a nice brunch next to it.The venue is really good looking as it is standing beneath the road heading to the Grand Central Terminal building. I liked the train style legacy of this restaurant. We took two starters. Avocado toast and Granola yogurt. Overall, those dishes were good. However Id recommend some twists to fully enjoy them.Avocado toast and hard boiled eggs are not a good mix in my opinion. Id add benedict eggs instead to fully get the yolk taste on the avocado. Moreover, the avocado is nice but would be way more tasty if it was prepared with more spices and shallots. However I loved to fact that the toast was intact and not wet so you could fully enjoy the toastie taste. As regards to the granola yogurt, Id say theres too much granola and not enough yogurt. So that you cant avoid a dry dish when finishing yogurt, left with some granola only. Adding some blueberries and removing some granola would make it perfect.Id recommend this restaurant for a nice brunch experience if you are around the terminal and want to breakfast without going to far. -

Very cool location but the frequent angry honking horns could (but didnt) put a damper on the mood. Nice view of Grand Central Station, nice outdoor walkway seating, and good photo ops with the outside statues. -
Review 59 (2023-10-12 - Rating: 4)
For what is essentially a rush hour, lunch hour, midtown diner, Pershing Square bears the opulence of what one associates with that NYC glamour of the 40s, 50s, and 60s thanks to the surprisingly large space, wood interior, and comfortable booths. At times it can feel a little too big and underpopulated, but now that the pandemic has receded hopefully that will be the exception and not the norm.I brought my kids to eat here, after wanting to visit forever, and while the service was a little on the slow side, the food was top notch. That combined with the convenient and unique location makes it a great place to stop by whether you’re visiting or a regular. -
Review 60 (2024-10-04 - Rating: 5)
The place under the bridge has a wonderful, old-style New York City vibe. The staff are friendly, and the food was good, though a bit expensive. The place is lovely. -

We stayed at the Hyatt Grand Central and this was only a couple of minutes away. Such a convenient spot. We imagined there’d be a wait for breakfast but the place is so big, we got a table right away. Food was great, service was great and the prices were as expected. -

Long line waiting to get a tablet for breakfast...I skipped the line and went straight to the bar where I was promptly served for breakfast. Rated as one of the best pancakes in NYC, so I ordered blueberry pancakes. They were outstanding. Highly recommend the original pancakes. Server/bartender, Alfredo, was friendly and service was excellent. Thank you for a great breakfast. -

Great place to eat but very expensive for what you get. We were seated outdoors the first time and has a pleasant experience but seated indoors near the back second time and had to endure very loud noises from a busboy separating cutlery right next to us. -

The place is right in front of grand central station, very convenient to reach with the subway. Pancakes are very good and the place is nice. However it was a little bit too warm inside, maybe too much humidity/moisture in the air. I suggest to book in advance to eat in the main room. -

High end experience. Theres lots of local Deli or Diner you can find, this place is iconic, and located right opposite the magnificent Grand Central Station. Very classy, but definitely not all show. Great service (even though we were clearly tourists among some very serious business looking breakfasts) and my egg sandwich was delicious! -

We came here for breakfast on our recent trip to NYC. It was great! I had the lox and cream cheese bagel. It was massive and so filling. My kids (7, 6 and 4) shared a pancakes between them as the portion size would have been too big otherwise. They tell me it was the best pancake ever. Our waiter dropped a tip and my son picked it up and went to give it to him. He told him to keep it. Very sweet. If we are lucky enough to come to NYC again we will go here! -

Stopped in for a drink around rush hour . Had the Vanderbilt drink with gin ( you can get it with vodka too.) It had strawberry and rosemary and ginger I believe. Pretty good. I decided to get it since were right near Vanderbilt Avenue here. I think a lot of solo flyers come in and sit at the bar to get a drink before going across the street to Grand Central Station , as I did . I didnt get food but there were definitely people at tables eating. Staff are really friendly and professional. Dark and calming atmosphere. -

This is a lovely place for a meal. Prices are reasonable and the bacon and potatoes are incredible. The butter is very tasty too. This is right outside grand central and a lot cheaper than the breakfast our hotel offered. The location is also great with grand central right opposite and times square, the new york library, 5th avenue and summit all being in walkable distance. The staff were also very accommodating with my mobility issues and there is wheelchair access. We ate around 9am and didnt need to wait for a table. -

Quality old style American cafe right next to Central grand station. I really liked the menu here, I had a buzz burger which was cooked to preference. Service in general and in particular the gentleman that served me was absolutely amazing. Prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. -

Great service. Delicious food. Awesome service moment: our table was wobbly, but we didnt complain, one of the other workers noticed and decided to fix it himself! -

The service was amazing, my family and I had the honour of being served by one of the waiters named John. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He was very friendly, and he made sure to accommodate all of our needs. -

This really cool historic place. You should stop for lunch or breakfast. Good food good menu, nice atmosphere, good service. Good all around. The only thing I didnt like was a fridge/display on the right hand side at the entrance, it was empty and look pretty ugly in my opinion. You want to see something nice when you first walk into a restaurant. -

Very cosy, warm atmosphere. Servers are attentive & efficient. Food was fresh, service could have been faster & the wine was a bit on the warm side not really chilled may have been sitting out on a counter?? However Would definitely visit again because it was a overall pleasant experience having lunch in such an iconic Restaurant.. -

Honestly, I didn’t love the fact that the changed their menu. Like why would you remove the guac? the gnocchi? But I went back and had the cavitelli and burrata and I truly honestly loved it. -

We popped in for a spot of brunch while we were in the area, hearing good things. Greeted by a nice guy telling us it was the best in NY. So we thought wed give it a whirl. We had banana pancakes and French toast, and it was delicious! The freshly squeezed orange juice was so smooth! Great service & a great breakfast. 👍 -

Prior to visiting the Summit attraction at the Vanderbilt, my daughter and I were searching a place to have breakfast and found Pershing Square in Google Maps. Once entering, I liked the classical ambiance very much and felt I went back in time. This restaurant fits perfectly under the Arch. To me, its a landmark! We enjoyed the food and it was delicious! Service was good. The perfect eating spot for those entering or leaving the Grand Central Station. Highly recommended! 👍👍👍 -

I stopped by after work for some food and drinks. The atmosphere is that of an upscale diner with good mix of locals, tourists and everyone else. I have to say that the best part was the drinks and our bartender Marc. I was in the mood for a different drink I didn’t see on menu but tried at another restaurant. I mentioned this green drink to Marc and to my surprise he was up for the challenge. A lot of place typically are funny about making a drink off menu. However, when I told Marc the ingredients not only was he up for the challenge and nailed it, I have to say he made it better. So if you’re ever in the neighborhood stop by and give this place a try. And, if you’re feeling adventurous and Marc is working ask him for this green drink (hint: Martini) you heard of it might be your new favorite too. Cheers!!! -

I recently had the pleasure of having lunch at this conveniently located bistro, and I must say it was an entirely enjoyable experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and particularly cozy—something I can imagine being even more delightful in the colder months of fall and winter. The food here is good, to say the least. I opted for the chicken panini, and it was delicious. Beyond the great food, what really caught my attention was the speed and attentiveness of the service. Despite being a bustling spot, especially during lunch hours, the staff managed to maintain a fast and highly attentive service. All in all, this bistro is a fantastic option for lunch. I highly recommend it and look forward to returning when in the area. -

As I stepped into Pershing Square Restaurant in the heart of New York City, I knew I was in for a treat. The vibe was utterly captivating - a classic New York design that could give any other restaurant in the city a run for its money. From the get-go, I sensed the top-notch service which perfectly set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. What sets Pershing Square Restaurant apart from the other dining establishments in the bustling New York City food scene is how it manages to maintain a perfect balance between quality food, impeccable service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Youll never feel out of place at this spot, whether youre a tourist or a local, and youll never leave dissatisfied.Overall, I highly recommend Pershing Square Restaurant for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience in the city. The combination of amazing atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly service make it a must-visit for any foodie. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you. -

Great service, fab food and a good location (opposite Grand central station) I joked that we wanted the nachos which wasnt on the menu for the time of day we went. Our server said, if we wanted nachos then they would make them for us. I had the beef and my partner had chicken. Best nachos Ive ever had. The food looked good and tasted even better. This is a place that we would definitely go back to if we ever visit new york again. -

We love food, atmosphere, and service here. The inside looks like a nice, old fashioned, train car, which is fitting right next to Grand Central Station. The food is high quality and delicious, but pricey. They offer a wide range of food, drinks, and dining experiences with a restaurant, bar, and bakery. In the summer, they also have outdoor seating. -

Delicious breakfast! I read a review that the breakfast potatoes were good, and they were truly yummy! We went back the next day as well. Everything was delicious, but the only thing I didnt like was the bagel in the bagel and salmon dish. It was quite plain like one youd buy from a grocery store and not the famous NY style bagel. But the smoked salmon was good.Overall great experience! -

A little tuck of glass beneath the Park Avenue Viaduct, and isn’t that what New York is all about? I ride the Hudson Line in with my daughters for lunch and go back after. Meet here in the middle when I am Brooklyn and my friend is West Harlem. An easy place to go by train for lunch with aging parents. A neutral public place, a first date, a breakup. A business lunch, a place for listless teenagers. A hustle of servers, a tremble of traffic, the gateway to our towering cathedrals of civic ingenuity. A nice booth by the window, a quiet place to read, a respite. Good culinary menus with the easy spirit of a diner. It’s a little pricey but you should see what it costs to run a decent restaurant in New York. Bring a friend, go alone. Five stars. -

We waited less than 10 minutes for amazing food. Service is attentive, polite and quick. Great place to relax and enjoy. It is expensive and portions are not large but this is to be expected. -

The ambience is upbeat and the surroundings are pleasant. Food prices are reasonable, the food tastes amazing and the staff are all really friendly.
