    The create your own egg sandwich is amazing! I love how there are additional options available here that typically aren’t available at your local corner store’s deli. Honestly, would’ve preferred more salt and pepper for my personal liking, but the ingredients came together perfectly. I really like how the egg is cooked (as opposed to the typical NYC egg sandwich), it allowed me to taste chunks of the yellow part of the egg by itself which i enjoyed. The turkey bacon itself is say was pretty bland but I ordered it in a cinnamon raisin bagel and added tomatoes, onions and spinach. Excellent egg sandwich, I’d return. A bit expensive at just under 15 dollars, the most expensive egg sandwich I ever had. Maybe I’d get it on a brioche next time.

    This small coffee and sandwich place sells one of the best bacon, eggs and cheese sandwiches. All the food is great, the service is excellent and the place has enough space to sit and enjoy your food. 10/10

    So good! Definitely stop by whether you’re local or passing through the area. Coffee is great, including iced/hot, drip/espresso. Service is so helpful and friendly. If you have time, it’s a great place to chill and read the newspaper. I think they keep a copy or two of the day’s NYT for customers to read.For food, I’ve tried breakfast sandwiches, muffins, and the vegan breakfast bar. All 🔥

    If you want a really fun and tasty local spot for breakfast, check out Rex.The breakfast burritos are on point and I took the advice of another reviewer and added potatoes to mine (an excellent choice).Coffee is good and fresh, and the food is made to order.I love little hole in the wall places like Rex, and hope they stick around for a long time.

    This is - hands down - the best ice coffee in New York at the BEST PRICE (not even $4)I’ve been going here since 2015 or so and though I don’t regularly find myself in the area, I’ll go out of my way to get this coffee and perhaps a breakfast sandwich (also good) in the AM.Sometimes there are seats available and it’s a nice place to work. Crowded, but totally NY.Really - why not try out this cute, independent store than across the street with the biggest of coffee conglomerates.

    A simple and warm cafe with good service and coffee. The staff was welcoming, coffee was fresh. The interior is good for brief work or friendly chats. I would recommend Cortado and Lentil soup. Will be back!

    I used to sit in this coffeeshop almost every weekend when I lived in Hell’s Kitchen. They use oatly and counter culture coffee which is the recipe for a great coffee. My only problem is the strong (and bad) smell, probably because of the eggs and other things they make. I guess if they left the door open or had better circulation that wouldn’t be an issue. If you only doing a to go that’s great option if you want to sit down a relax, be ready for it

    I’m staying in Hell’s Kitchen and this is the literal best breakfast sandwich place in NYC. I grabbed the breakfast cuban with cheese and salsa verde and it was off the hook. Highly recommend.

    Had an amazing experience here. Latte and muffin were amazing, of course. I didn’t know that they were closing around 4pm. It was already half past 4, but they did not say anything. Also I saw they consumed the whole brewed coffee daily. People were super nice and kind. Strongly recommended! I would like to visit again! (There is also wifi too)

    Woke up with a craving for the perfect blueberry muffin and Rex delivered. super soft, fruit forward muffin with a perfectly crusted top, sprinkled with sugar. so so good. they also make a proper cappuccino and have great ambiance with pleasant music, nyt copies, and books to peruse. I will definitely be coming back for a lil Saturday morning outing one of these days.

    There aren’t many cafés where you can get like regular weekday, breakfast sandwiches, and a cup of coffee. Sullivan Bakery is too expensive. Coffee Project doesn’t have enough food. There’s nowhere to sit at Birch Coffee.Rex is the answer to all shortcomings of other neighborhood cafés. Reasonable prices and a lot of seating with good fast, quality, food, and coffee.

    This place is straightforward and does what they do extremely well: perfectly prepared espresso beverages and egg sandwiches. I have only gotten cappuccinos from here and they are perfect every single time. Their sandwiches are the perfect size, perfect flavor, and really hit the spot. Get your sandwich on a brioche bun, you wont be disappointed. Their baked goods on display are also stellar, I had a lemon poppy muffin top which was on point.

    The person I am married to delivered a baby at Mt. Sinai West and thank science for Rex. It was my daily go-to coffee shop each morning and afternoon. And if they were open late, I’d be there then, too.The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. And they also have an amazing menu for a coffee shop. Get the chorizo breakfast burrito, if you eat meat, and add potato.Keeping this place in my list of coffee shops in case I’m ever on the west side of midtown.

    My sister and I discovered this gem on a long weekend to NY. We were thrilled to happen upon REX for a quick breakfast. Amazing! The banana bread was so delicious we went there the next day as well. I’d love to get the recipe! Valerie (or Samantha as I called her) was friendly and welcoming. She made me feel like a regular.

    Solid coffee. Great that the latte was served with 2 shots, which makes for a decently, strong coffee. Milk was also steamed properly; it was nice and silky (unlike starbucks and 99% of cafes in the US).I do wish they would serve it in a latte in a latte glass, rather than a cappuccino mug

    Wasnt sure if I shouldve stopped here at first but I am SO GLAD I did! Had the oat milk latte and the chicken panini sandwich. Absolutely delicious!     I love the atmosphere at Rex. They have delicious coffee and a very friendly staff. Cups to take away are recylable and if you order to stay, you get your coffee in a real cup. They always have artworks from local artists.

    Good mochas, excellent staff, and wonderful atmosphere. The art for sale on the walls was a nice touch. All the staff was very nice and didnt seem to mind that I came in close to closing time. The seating area is close quarters but very pleasant. Stop in, you wont regret it.

    Excellent stop for a quick coffee and breakfast sandwich. Its quick, and high quality with great ingredients. Enjoyed it so much, we visited twice in 3-days.Recommend the Brioche or Croissant BEC. Hot sauce is real good, and makes the sandwich pop. I tried the wholegrain bread and sausage... and while good its untoasted and makes it more a plain sandwich with sliced sausage links not a patty. The BEC, hits the spot though.

    After discovering Rex last week across from the Green Market’s temporary location on 57th and 10th Avenue, I decided to give it a try this week. It meets my core criteria of serving to stay coffee and food on dishes. And the egg on brioche sandwich that I ordered was brought to the table that I am sharing with five other people. It is communal. Of course we New Yorkers are skilled in being in our individual single square foot space or tuning out/listening to the conversations of those who come in a group.The staff here are friendly and patient as I fumbled with using the CUPS app for the first time. Rex also accepts Apple Pay.Conclusion: a great neighborhood quick or leisurely stop for coffee and breakfast sandwich or pastry where at any moment (like now) a horse and carriage passes by.

    I’ve stopped here twice now when I’ve been in town and never regretted it. Quick and friendly service even at 7:30 AM, love that they offer counter culture coffee, and a great menu. Their egg sandwiches are super tasty and very customizable, and I’m dying to get the gravlax sandwich next time I’m around. They wrap your takeout very well and it keeps nicely if you’re on the way somewhere else with your food like I’ve been.

    If you live in Hell’s Kitchen near 56th and 10th, you’ll want to know about Rex. It’s where you should be getting your coffee and egg sandwiches. Stop by and get a BEC with avocado on brioche before you go to work, and this probably make you a more pleasant person to be around. You could also hang out at the coffee shop and work for a while (there are a few tables inside). Plus, if you get hungry in the afternoon there are a few other sandwiches to choose from.

    Excellent coffee, unlike the other coffee places nearby this place takes the time make coffee right. When it wasn’t perfect the barista made another one (without me even asking for it). I’m from the west where coffee is a spiritual part of life. The Rex gives you that coffee feeling of daily morning satisfaction.

    Started working near here and I go a few times a week. Great staff! I dont drink coffee but their muffins, loaves and donuts are all amazing.
