Updated November 2024 still loving this place !I am so glad I searched for coffee shops in the area that I had not visited before and came across The Chipped Cup just a block away!I am in love with the coffee, the pastries, the friendly staff and overall charming vibe of this shop. This is a cozy place I would love to visit over and over.I’m coming back soon and with friends to share this great experience with me.

Honestly probably the best coffee shops around. The crew are all fantastic and they make an absolutely lovely beverage. They’re always friendly and maintain a positive vibe. Their baked goods are delish. The atmosphere is comfy and there are plugs on the wall if one needs to do some lite work.

This Coffee Shop is super cute and super cozy. I love the ambiance and the vibe. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The house made food is delightful (especially the cookies). The drink menu is standard, the prices are decent. I highly recommend this place. Bonus, this place has a huge outside area.

This place RADIATES coziness and joy! My partner and I decided to try it out today after walking by several times and never going in. Coffee was great, food was delicious, and the staff was so kind! The vibe was very warm and we loved all the decorations. I ended up buying two stickers because I just liked it so much.As if this wasn’t lovely enough, we then discovered the garden outside. It was so beautiful. If it wasn’t a bajillion degrees outside, I could have sat and read there for hours. My only gripe is that the wifi was a little slow at times, but that certainly didn’t take away from the experience at all.

The Chipped Cup has that secret speakeasy vibe, which I love. The inside is much bigger than expected. It had that old, antique look with warm lights and exposed brick walls. They had some baked goods in the showcase, and they offer other dishes such as sandwiches, burrito, toasts, etc.What makes The Chipped Cup extra special is their back patio. It is so peaceful and beautiful! For extra peaceful vibe, go there early before everyone else arrives.We have been to The Chipped Cup a few times, and we had tried a few different drinks and food. I love Liège Waffle, and they make a great one here. It was soft and doughy, rich and had the perfect chewy texture. Lemon Loaf here is gluten free. It was moist and delightful! The Coconut Latte was delicious. Sweet but not overly sweet, with the subtle aroma and flavor coconut.Bagel & Lox came with ample amount of lox, super fresh and delicious. Bagels was not the easiest to cut and eat (in my opinion) even with the knife and fork, but it was very tasty. Loved the addition of the tomatoes in here. They also offer gluten free bread available, and vegan cream cheese options too.The staffs here were friendly and polite. The back patio space was so peaceful and relaxing. About the time we were done, more people arrived at the patio, and even more people in the inside space. We were happy to have our quiet, tranquil time before the morning rush.

I come here once a week before my Capoeira Angola class. I usually get a black coffee and a small pastry. Every week a the coffee flavor changes a bit but it’s always good. It’s a cozy spot, good for reading and the back patio it’s nice too. I’m glad they ask for proof of vaccine if you want to dine in. The baristas have always being nice. I really appreciate ir when they greet people with a”good morning”

My go to neighborhood coffee spot. I always get a iced honey oatmilk latte and it hits every time. They also have great pastries, breakfast foods and plus some amazing avocado toast. The inside is cozy with a little outdoor space (pet friendly) on those nice mornings. Great place to start the day or catch up with a friend. Plus the staff is so pleasant.

Guys let’s start with the vibes of this place is so awesome dope and chic super laid back and cozy they have an amazing menu and they specialize with the drink of the month and this month December 2024 is the sleigh the patriarchy which has gingerbread vanilla and cayenne yes could you imagine the spice the taste of that latte 10/10 I loved it it was awesome I’ve never had a taste like this and listen I’ve had some tasty drinks but this is different stop by and enjoy it before it’s gone you won’t regret it trust me I am an amazing critique and foodie

I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was an outlet there. Lots of great outdoor and indoor seating. Took off a star because drinks are super pricey. They charged me $8 after tax for a small flavored latte!

DIVINE 3rd wave coffee, incredible staff, and great neighbors 💗 Backyard is the best kept secret of the hood.Did want to flag the fact that the wifi throws one back to 2010... Super spotty and sometimes just not functioning at all. Hoping with 2024 owners/manager fix the signal so it covers the whole cafe. Its not a giant space and it is a haven for those of us resigned to WFH. With coffee prices leaping up (~1.50 or more increase per cup?) this seems like asmall & manageable fix.

This was my first time in my neighborhood little, cute cafe. I came a Sunday at 2 pm and it was packed.The coffee was very good, and served in a china cup. Unfortunately, there were not much pastry left 🙁 The ambience was chilled out and full of young customers and some with laptops.The place has a patio where you can seat but due to the cold I preferred to stay inside.The two girls on the counter were very nice 🙂 so my experience in this place was good. This little coffee shop is too cute. They have ample indoor as well as outdoor patio seating and it is a clearly a very popular place because every single seat and table was taken when we went in! To get into the coffee shop, you have to walk down a short flight of stairs, and then you enter. It feels very unassuming. We wanted a white mocha, but they ran out of white chocolate, So instead we got a vanilla and cinnamon iced coffee drink that was super tasty and addictive. I would love it if this were my own neighborhood’s local coffee shop because the coffee here is top notch and the service seems pretty friendly.

I’m a big fan of this place. I return to Harlem twice a year and I always come here to work from from my laptop. Very friendly staff. My boyfriend wasn’t happy with his latte so the staff made great alternative drink suggestions and he had a delicious cortado instead! The back patio is dog friendly and super pretty. A great hidden spot!

This place is a GEM! Ill start off by saying the coffee was amazing, strong but smooth. Ill definitely be back for that alone.The back patio has a summertime vibe with lots of tables that wrap around the back of the building. The staff said that in the evening time that back patio is shared with the bar next door (Honey Well). They have swing chairs, steps, big tables, you name it!Inside has a bunch of tables conducive to working on your laptop, which lots of people were doing. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The staff are friendly and courteous, and it usually attracts a trendy crowd. Im staying in the area for a few weeks to dog sit. Im a remote worker and dont always like to work at home. Happy that they have oat milk and their lattes are pretty good. The prices are pretty steep, especially for the food, which is why I took off a star. The ambiance is chill with music ranging from The Backstreet Boys to Billie Eilish. Enough plugs that I havent been out of reach of one yet. There is also a cute little area out back you can sit. I also liked that I could have a phone call in here and not get nasty stares. Good place to get work done and have a satisfying cup of coffee.

If you love coffee come here. If you enjoy working out of cafes, come here. Cute brand — everything works together in the way they designed the store. They have this really cool design on the back wall that tells you about all the coffee options you can get and what they mean. I learned a lot 😆 - anyway good coffee, good tea, good vibes. They have pastries, bagels, avocado toast, granola bowls. There’s more than what I listed but there’s not a huge menu selection. The food is good quality from what you can get. A good amount of seating indoor and what makes this place real cool is in the warmer weather they have out door seating. One major con is they’ve been having plumbing issues so no one can use the bathroom.

Secretive lil gem of a coffee shop, its such a hole in the wall and easy to miss sort of place but its like finding a crystal in a mound of coal. The most aromatic coconut tea Ive ever sipped. You will certainly notice that they put a lot of care when preparing your food for you. Over all relaxed living room sort of ambiance with cozy decor+lighting. LOVE the secret outdoor hangout in the back! It feels like discovering an inclusive party.

I was first struck by the atmosphere during March: a chill spot to get work done on mylaptop while I got a tea, a coffee…a cookie…a savory scone…and each item I got left me satisfied by its quality, particularly the chocolate chip cookies (gluten free!) and the iced lemon loaf.But everything changed once I tried the sausage breakfast sandwich. (I always ask to add avocado, sriracha, and onion to mine. There are other options, too!) After this sandwich, Chipped Cup really won meover.Their back outdoor space is spacious, green, and offers some unique seating the further back you go.Service is mostly cheery. Very accepting. Adorable little cafe, adding to the growing list of gems in West Harlem. Sitting under a brownstone it is easy to miss, but once you know where it is you will find it difficult to walk by and NOT pop in for a cuppa. Good music, and they have open mic on certain nights with local bands and poets. Free Wi-Fi, good tea list and a loyalty card that will score you a free cup after buying x-amount. Theres also a garden they open up during the warmer months for additional seating (inside can get a little cramped.)Named after the cup on Beauty and the Beast, its easy to see the beauty in this cute hidden cafe - still looking for the beast.

Was looking for a local 145th Riverside Coffee Shop to finish some reading for my class. Its a cozy basement level place nicely decorated with a outdoor space. The women made me an iced coffee I asked her to make it for me completely rather then me do the pouring and she was patient and very friendly even made sure I enjoyed my coffee. The male-coworker seemed to be upset I asked he was a bit rude but w.e I pay 😝 The only thing is that you pay for wifi after the free 30 minutes never had that before

Updating my review because its been two years, and in that time, the Chipped Cup became my go-to work and study space during the grueling process of MCAT studying and med school applications. In that time, the Chipped Cups menu has also expanded to include various quiches and toasts, which are all delicious. Whats stayed the same, though, is the warm and friendly of the space and the staff. Ill miss being a regular there.

An undiscovered gem for me! Wow! Im really impressed with the simplicity and the size of this place. Walked in, found people clicking away on laptops and sipping variations of coffee! Ok, I know therere hundreds of coffee places each of them being the anti-Starbucks (I actually have a complete different view of Starbucks now) showing off their uniqueness in different ways, but in my neighborhood, this place is truly refreshing and unique! There is nothing else like it! I love it. I found a place to get coffee, sit and write my blog and my reviews!This place works on so many levels- its close to me (4 blocks), its has really good inexpensive coffee (not sure it they make it on premises or outsource), a customer service card (get it chipped 10 times you got a free coffee coming your way) and they have a cool raw back yard space! Its a nice to sit out and sip something warm on those crisp fall days which we seem to be in the midst of.The Chipped Cup states on the business card, coffee and victuals, wasnt sure what victuals meant, till I looked it up. Its a noun: food or provisions, typically as prepared for consumption. Hmm. I didnt see food anyone eating food, but I miss things sometimes.Ive passed the place several times without even peaking in. Well again, an unplanned saturday exploring your surroundings can uncover gems like these! After finishing up at Harlem Public, we saw the sign and decided to descend the stairs down to and get some coffee. I had the drip cup- large- she some choco-covered coffee beans and the espresso- double shot, but it was more like a double espresso. All for 8 bucks. Dont worry, no cash, they have Square so you can swipe away with your debit card.We sat in the yard talking relationships, the state of men and women and how we were going to finish up this unplanned day.We left after the last chocolate covered coffee bean was gone and she declared, now its time for me to go the bathroom!. Lol, well Im sure by the connotation you know why we had to leave.4 cups here- 1 for the simplicity, the wifi, the backyard and most importantly the coffee. I will be back so I can get my card stamped 10 times (which debatably seems to be too many times before a freebie) minus 1 for the odd location and stairs (you could easily miss this place and some people may have problems with the stairs). **One potential problem is that the wi-fi can be spotty and problematic to use! I would be inclined to take away a cup for that, but I wont. Its a gem and its in my neighborhood! Recommended!

A gem in Morningside Heights!Im just going to repeat the same thing others have said... only Im going to gush more about the pastry.My friend asked the staff to surprise her and they did. She loved the coffee and the pastry was out of this world. How do I know? I had the pastry too.It was the best cheese danish Ive ever had. So good, I dont want to sully it with the name danish. Danish conjures up images of plastic wrapped blobs of goo, surrounded by sickly sweet bread. This was more of a sweet croissant with a schmear of cheesey goodness and icing to pick off and relish on its own. So good. So good that when conversation lagged... we talked about how damn good the pastry was.My friend and I stayed inside and talked for a couple of hours. We appeared to be the only ones talking. Sorry, to those of you trying to get work done! I hope we werent obnoxious. Pfffttt! I know we werent. Im never obnoxious!Theres Wi-Fi. Good to know. And theres an outdoor space Im coming back for. I highly recommend the Harvest Latte with oat milk and the Avocado Toast. The harvest latte has such delicious comforting flavors and the Avocado toast is so fresh and very filling! They were out of tomatoes, but it still tasted amazing. I especially love the bread and the crispy crust.The staff is absolutely the best here, as well. They are so sweet and very skilled at what they do. The ambience is very cozy and inviting and the outdoor garden patio is just lovely during good weather. I got here at 2pm on a Saturday when it wasnt so busy and found a seat on the garden patio. Go to the Chipped Cup! Youll love it.

Ive had a ton of oat milk cortados and thats definitely not normal.Anyway Id go back and try an iced tea or coffee but not an espresso drink from here.
