Just came here for the first time a few days ago and loved everything we tried! Would definitely recommend the pani puri for anyone, the samosas, and the chili cheese toast as starters. We went for the paneee tikka masala and vegetable korma as our mains with rice and a side of garlic naan. Definitely healthy portion sizes but maybe a little too much food for two people! Rounded out the meal with the cardamom creme brûlée which was delightful!!! Would definitely have more of those. I hear great things about the cocktails but the mocktails were just as wonderful and would highly recommend trying. Ill be sure to make another trip back here soon!

Hands down one of the best Indian food (for the internationally known dishes) place in NYC. I mean amongst the wide platter of things we ate in seconds, I highly recommend the biryani, the pot chicken, and also the Indian spices old fashioned.

  • Review 3 (2024-12-04 - Rating: 5)

Came here for my birthday dinner last night and it was great! Nice staff, delicious, flavorful food, dim lighting, and a delicious version of a spicy margarita. The complimentary naan is a nice touch. Service is a little slow and my food wasn’t very hot (temperature wise), but those are really the only things of note. Love the sparklers they use for birthdays. The samosas and saag paneer were yummy and everyone else liked their food. The butter chicken was delicious and so was the dessert :)

  • Review 4 (2024-05-11 - Rating: 4)

Romantic and cozy vibe. Dinner for two was fab and delicious. I recommend the Lamb Biryani and the fried cheese appetizer. The staff were very helpful and polite. Unfortunately we didn’t receive one of our appetizers but the waitress eventually brought us the dish and didn’t charge us for it. I also recommend the cocktails which are all served in crystal cups with unique garnishes.

First of all, Marisa is an amazing server and such a sweet person. I went there for an early dinner with a friend and she was so attentive, fun and personable. My friend loves the place and she recommended it but I personally give the food a 3 out of 5. It was still good and I cleaned my plate but not what I was expecting. The food has a British Indian influence and was lacking spice and flavor that I’m used to for traditional Indian food. This place is great if you or people you go with can’t handle too much spice or find Indian flavors normally too strong. The portions are a bit too small for my liking and the price. The service from Marisa was absolutely impeccable and worth asking for her when you come.

  • Review 6 (2020-10-22 - Rating: 5)

Fantastic food as always, ordered coconut water which was fresh and no added sugar. Outdoor dining suits this place, reminds me of the street food back home in India. Vegetable Biryani was awesome, authentically cooked and tandoori chicken was too good. They do take reservations so make sure to call it gets really busy.

One of the best restaurants in NYC!!!!! Every bite is incredible, the staff are so kind, and the vibes are immaculate! I havent stopped talking about The Drunken Munkey to everyone I know since first trying it. And I love their meal for a meal program – for $7 you can add on a meal for someone who is hungry, and they provide those meals each night. It makes me happy to know they do so much good (and I love being able to contribute to it). Every restaurant should take notes and follow suit!

  • Review 8 (2022-12-27 - Rating: 4)

Great little Indian place on the UES. The ambience is really what makes it worth visiting. The food was good, could use more heat in the chicken masala however the chicken Samosas were amazing!

  • Review 9 (2021-06-20 - Rating: 5)

Phenomenal food and drinks! I went with my dad and brother. We all got different entrees and everyone loved everything. For appetizers, we ordered chicken samosas and stuffed simla mirch. For entrees, we ordered: butter paneer Tikka masala, lamb biryani, and goan pork vindaloo with garlic Naan. Vindaloo was the apiciest but had great flavor. For dessert, we ordered gajar halwa a la mode.

  • Review 10 (2022-02-18 - Rating: 5)

Absolutely delightful and charming restaurant and bar. The cocktails were amazing, the house paanch (punch) is a must. Food was incredible, best butter chicken Ive ever had and garlic naan was perfect. Decor inside was eclectic with ornate wallpaper, beautiful art deco bar, monkey chandeliers, and a gorgeous floor. All the servers were very professional but attentive and had very positive attitudes and their energy was a delight. Its obvious they all love working there. We sat outside on a small bench with rattan stools and a small side table. The outdoor seating also offered covered seating in a small tent with tables. There is a certain energy about the place that sucks you in as you stroll by, a must stop. Highly recommend if youre in the neighborhood. I cant wait to go back. GARRETT the server from JAMAICA made our visit! So kind and funny and professional at all times. Id go back just to have Garrett wait on us again, sincere conversation and a huge smile to match. Check them out!

Love this place. Amazing Indian food and cocktails. The vegetable korma and royal enfield sidecar drink is a must try ❤️ the appetizers are great too, had the paneer Tikal and chicken tikka.. the prices are decent, our waiter was super nice. The ambience was great. Absolutely no complaints, Me and my friends had a good time

  • Review 12 (2024-11-06 - Rating: 4)

Loved this place! everyone was super nice, great atmosphere and food was tasty - i just wish they played more indian music! i only really heard one indian song through the night!

  • Review 13 (2024-08-04 - Rating: 5)

My first ever Indian food experience was here and I couldn’t be happier. The spices and flavor of the food was fantastic. Overall a great spot for a date and the outdoor seating is actually better than indoors in my opinion. Great choice of drinks and the cocktails were great

  • Review 14 (2024-11-25 - Rating: 5)

Was simply passing by when the charm won me over, the heat lamps outside on a chilly November evening called me to sit down and enjoy Happy Hour and a wonderfully delicious dinner!!Cant wait to share this gem with friends and come back for more!!!

  • Review 15 (2020-07-27 - Rating: 4)

Quirky Indian restaurant with a menu and decor which hark back to the country’s colonial past. Decent cocktails and main course but what works best here are its starters, especially the chilly cheese toast which is an absolute delight!

  • Review 16 (2018-12-03 - Rating: 5)

Came back here after a couple years and it was still delicious! The lamb biryani is a must. Recommend trying one of their specialty cocktails and gajjar halwa for dessert.

  • Review 17 (2019-03-21 - Rating: 5)

Went there for happy hour 4:30-6:30 pm on weekdays where you buy 2 drinks and you get two drinks for free (you can mix and match), we had the Bramble which is fun with blackberry liquor and to be honest it is one of the best drink I ever had. We also had few bites in particular the lamb sliders which were delicious in addition to the shrimp cocktail which was very flavorful but spicy (I love spicy) and we also shared the Chana masala (chickpeas) and grilled cauliflower with turmeric which were equally delicious. Very highly recommended.

  • Review 18 (2023-07-11 - Rating: 5)

This is one of my faves on the UES. The menu is more limited than other places but what they have is excellent. My favorite is the butter paneer tikka masala with their special spiced old fashioned. Yum. Delivery is good too.

  • Review 19 (2021-03-04 - Rating: 5)

This food was the best food we ate when visiting New York. I absolutely loved it and will be back whenever we are in town.

  • Review 20 (2024-07-24 - Rating: 5)

Food and service were really good. I had the lamb biriyani; it was delicious.

  • Review 21 (2022-08-08 - Rating: 5)

This is a hidden gem in ues.... Great food and the bartender Louis really knows how create some really original and creative drinks... The pork vindaloo and the lemon dal balti are must tries

  • Review 22 (2022-04-10 - Rating: 5)

A small, cozy place in the heart of Upper East Side, casual vibe, fantastic indian food made with just a slight latino tweak, tasty, consistently good cocktails, and most importantly, staff that will elevate your experience by far. This is your go-to place. Youll always be welcomed with the smile on their faces, and itll stay that way until the moment you leave. If you dont come and see them, its your loss.Cheers!

  • Review 23 (2024-02-02 - Rating: 4)

We’ve dined in twice and have ordered takeout a handful of times. My husband really likes the chicken tikka appetizer he has that for an entree with the garlic naan which is also very good. I love traditional Indian food and this definitely is not that but it’s not bad for an Americanized twist on it. The butter chicken is the one dish I find good however the rice always tastes like soap for some reason. My friend tried it recently and said the same thing.

  • Review 24 (2024-06-29 - Rating: 5)

Lively atmosphere, pleasant and responsive staff, and excellent quality food. It was the best meal we had during a weeklong visit to Manhattan.

  • Review 25 (2018-03-07 - Rating: 5)

Want there last night. Got introd to the owner Arun. Place is great. Food is awesome. Chicken tikka, chilly cheese toast was mind blowing, shish kabab was excellent. Flavorful food. Have to make this a regular place to hang with buddies or a date.

  • Review 26 (2023-04-01 - Rating: 5)

You are missing big time if you haven’t tried the “Crispy Okra” 👍🏻

  • Review 27 (2018-05-11 - Rating: 5)

Came here on a weekday night and I had no wait. Better to make a reservation on fridays and the weekend because I hear it gets very busy. We were seated right away when we came. The servers were really attentive.I tried the dark and stormy which was perfect and had the lamb biryani. It came with a piece of naan cooked on top. It was delicious, had a nice kick to it. We also had the garlic naan which was amazing! Definitely make sure you get some of the garlic naan because it was so good that I kept eating it when I was already full. Im looking forward to coming again and trying some of their other menu items.

  • Review 28 (2024-08-19 - Rating: 5)

If you’re on the Upper Eastside stop by The Drunken Monkey. It was SO good and worth seeking this place out! I had the lamb Biryani and it was packed full of flavor. Add The Drunken Monkey to your list of places to check out on the UES.

  • Review 29 (2023-09-11 - Rating: 5)

Favorite restaurant in all of NYC coming from a life long local. The food is excellent every time and the drinks are the best cocktails in the city. But what really makes this place special is the staff. From the owners to the bartenders and waitresses, they go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and ensure you have a great night.A special shoutout to Luis the host, who has become a friend after all the times Ive been there throughout the years. His service is impeccable and he is just a blast to hang out with. I recently had a celebratory dinner for a large group of friends and family here and Luis accommodated all our requests and made it an unbelievable night! Come here for any special occasion or just drop by to have a cocktail and snacks and chat with the bartender. They can do it all.

  • Review 30 (2021-05-24 - Rating: 5)

The food is tasty. One of the best Indian foods in the area. The ambiance is nice and the staff is friendly.

  • Review 31 (2023-01-26 - Rating: 5)

This restaurant is fantastic! Food is delish and the staff is great.

  • Review 32 (2017-01-02 - Rating: 4)

Limited menu but overall good Indian food. Naan was perfectly chewy and soft at the same time. Drinks were a bit overpriced in my opinion. The green chilli garnish is HOT and those who ate it in my party regretted the decision all evening.

  • Review 33 (2020-02-16 - Rating: 5)

Incredible. Love the atmosphere, LOVE the punch, and love the spiced dishes. Soooooo good!

  • Review 34 (2021-06-06 - Rating: 5)

Make a reservation on yelp, romantic even with outdoor seating. Dont leave without dessert- the chocolate rum cake was so warm and fudgy

  • Review 35 (2021-04-28 - Rating: 5)

Excellent indian style food. Nice covid era outdoor seating. Dog friendly. Definitely worth it.

  • Review 36 (2024-10-20 - Rating: 5)

Great experience, food was great and the birthday celebration is really fun.

  • Review 37 (2023-08-15 - Rating: 4)

This is a real neighborhood gem. An upscale Indian restaurant with wonderful cocktails that pair with unique flavors. It gets crowded so sometimes food comes before drinks, but experience so good it is worth this minor hiccup.

  • Review 38 (2024-03-30 - Rating: 5)

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in NY. Staff is extremely nice, the restaurant is decorated really nice and is always playing great music, and the best thing is the food. Definitely try the Vegetable Biryani and the Butter Chicken Tikka Masala. They are both to die for.

  • Review 39 (2023-12-16 - Rating: 5)

Spectacular. Native New Yorker, I grew up around the corner and now live down the block — Drunken Monkey is a classic that has and will stand the test of time. Intimate, lowlit, cozy, chic ambiance, much more of a downtown vibe in the best possible way. Authentic, tremendous Indian dishes, best in the city (—the biryani and curries are a delight; the naan and paani puri are out of this world). Tremendous cocktails — bartender Michael is awesome, professional and affable, providing excellent recommendations, service, and drinks, and his selection of music is spot on. An absolute gem of a restaurant all around. Their new venture L’Avion Cafe next door is equally delectable (get the pain au chocolat and any muffin, delicious). A must go to outpost on UES.

  • Review 40 (2023-12-23 - Rating: 5)

Great vibes, incredible chicken tikka masala (should I grow up and branch out in my Indian food choices absolutely but I dont see that happening any time soon), and really great service. Drinks are a bit pricy but not far outside of the norm.

  • Review 41 (2023-12-31 - Rating: 5)

We discovered this place when we were in the area, so it was a spontaneous decision on our last night in NYC (21st Dec). Glad we found this (as we struggled to find good Indian food in NYC - we are a little spoiled for choice in London).Relaxed atmosphere (playing jazz music), good vibe and great Indian food. The best dish was Butter Chicken Tikka Masala the chicken was cooked perfectly and sauce was mild but very delicious. The cocktails were also class (particularly the Elderflower cocktail); and even the desserts were good (though more fusion than classical Indian).

  • Review 42 (2024-03-16 - Rating: 5)

We love this place, can’t wait to go back. The food and atmosphere is good. The cocktails are amazing, Will the bartender makes amazing drinks.

  • Review 43 (2020-01-02 - Rating: 5)

First and only Indian place I’ve been to in New York so far. Was a bit sceptical as I thought the food wouldn’t be great as it seemed a bit too hipster from the outside - couldn’t have been more wrong. We ordered family style so we had a selection of dishes. Everything was really flavoursome and had just the right level of spice.I also really enjoyed the intimate and dark atmosphere. I’ll definitely be visiting again.

  • Review 44 (2023-08-06 - Rating: 4)

Indian food with Americanized flavors to it. Great ambiance and service - a decent menu offering making it simple to choose and not overwhelming. Love their bartender - amazing cocktail menu and perfect pour. Tried a couple of them, one with gin base and another one with bourbon base. The gajar ka halwa with ice cream and toffee pudding are out of the world. All my visits post the first one have just been for drinks and desserts. Skip the food and go to desserts directly - mantra!!

  • Review 45 (2023-11-03 - Rating: 4)

Love to food but frustrated by their customer service based on their decision re: take out of a very limited menu and must be placed thru UberEats rather than calling restaurant. I live 2 blocks away and sometimes need to do take out, but still have to pay RIDICULOUS fees and overall MORE than if I ate in, rather than just call in an order, plus I cant get some of my favorite dishes.

  • Review 46 (2024-06-10 - Rating: 5)

I was seated quickly at an outside table on a beautiful night! The service was swift and kind! The food was delicious!

  • Review 47 (2021-06-22 - Rating: 4)

Beautifully decorated funky place. Food was pretty good. Draft beers are sent out with way to much foam at the top.

  • Review 48 (2023-02-05 - Rating: 5)

Easily the best Indian food Ive ever had! Luis and Marina were so sweet and made brunch an event - even asking if we had any music requests. I cant wait to go back for more!!

  • Review 49 (2023-06-24 - Rating: 5)

Supper fun restaurant 😋The food was great and tastyDefinitely one of my favorite places ❤️

  • Review 50 (2023-02-05 - Rating: 5)

The staff behind Drunken Munkey were beyond hospitable. I have been to dozens upon dozens of restaurants all across the upper east side, and none have had the care and hospitality of Drunken Munkey. We were a party of 5 and were seated right away (they even hung our coats up for us). The paanch cocktail was incredible! Well spiced and refreshing but heavy on the pour in the best way possible. We started with the vegetable samosa which were crisp and tender. I ordered the lamb shank curry. When I say that lamb was tender and rich with flavor, that doesnt even begin to describe it. My partners chicken tikka was, dare I say, even better. The garlic naan was perfectly seasoned and the crispy okra we received was ADDICTIVE, like as snackable as movie theater popcorn, crunchy, spicy, salty, and impossible to put down. I HIGHLY recommend you visit. We just randomly decided to go and were extremely impressed with how much of a joy it was to dine here. I will be coming back asap.

  • Review 51 (2021-08-16 - Rating: 5)

Cute restaurant located in the UES. Street parking was out of the question as it was a residential area. We were able to find an MPG nearby so parking didnt seem to be an issue. Parking came out to $23 plus tips. We were there for about an hr and a half so I would say parking was decently priced. Our waitress, Katrina was very understanding and friendly. The food was excellent except for the fried okra, it was just a little bit too crispy to eat. If youre in the area and feel like having a quick snack and drink, I would recommend this place.

  • Review 52 (2022-10-07 - Rating: 5)

14 of us patronized this restaurant in their outdoor setup on a very rainy evening. The service was prompt and with a smile. The food very tasty and was excellent all around. They have a full bar! Will definitely patronize them again!!

  • Review 53 (2021-04-07 - Rating: 5)

We had dinner here last night later than our usual time and the owner allowed us to be seated although it was getting close to closing time. We sat in their outside space and I’m so happy as we have walked by this place a few times and noticed how beautiful the space is. The food was delicious and it was so nice to sit outside and have wine. The service was great and the staff were all so pleasant and amazing. As we were leaving, they waved and said goodnight as if we were departing from family and friends. It was a great date night. Thank you for this experience.

  • Review 54 (2018-09-28 - Rating: 5)

Awesome experience at the Drunken Munkey uptown tonight. Loved everything about this place. Service was friendly and efficient, drinks were distinctive, delicious and fairly stiff, and the food was excellent (lamb skewers were super flavorful and mouthwatering, Punjabi tandoori chicken was nicely spiced and tender, and the standout Masala short ribs were crazy tender and substantially portioned). The space is quirky, cool, and intimate, and theres a din in the space but you can still hear yourself and the rest of your party. Previous 5-star reviewers were spot on about this place.

  • Review 55 (2023-03-09 - Rating: 5)

One of the more authentic Indian restaurants with dishes that are more true to Indian spices and a fair serving size. The chili cheese bread was a great appetizer. Roughly $20 a dish. 5/5 stars as a dinner spot.

  • Review 56 (2023-01-29 - Rating: 5)

We had a great time there! The drinks were magnificent, the food was great, but the best part was def the service! Oh and the tamarind sauce 😋 yum!Must order - vegetable samosa

  • Review 57 (2021-07-31 - Rating: 5)

Excellent food with tons of flavor. Agreed with others that the food lacks the heat of a typical Indian restaurant, but I won’t knock them for that (ask for spicy if you want it). Great location in the UES on a quiet side street. Amazing cocktails to boot.

  • Review 58 (2023-02-04 - Rating: 5)

Genuinely the best Indian food Ive had in the neighborhood and even in the city. Drinks were also fantastic. Service was incredible and I cant wait to come back!

  • Review 59 (2021-08-06 - Rating: 4)

We went there early in the day when the place opened for Brunch. Food felt a bit stale, especially the okra but overall tasted good. The Mango lassi was quite nice and I’d recommend you try it at least once if you’re visiting this restaurant. We opted to be seated outside which was well ventilated with fans. We did not try their cocktails although this restaurant is known for their drinks.Overall, it’s a good place to check-out at least once if you’re in the area. Get there early because the place gets busier during mid to late afternoons.

  • Review 60 (2024-12-04 - Rating: 5)

Didn’t expect to find such a great spot open late. the food, service and atmosphere were excellent.

  • Review 61 (2022-05-21 - Rating: 4)

At first glance this will not seem like an Indian restaurant with its french inspired look, but it is definitely a more authentic Indian place in terms of food taste and quality. It serves classic north Indian mughlai cuisine with some light twist in the form of pao sliders and okra fries. Okra fries are a must have here. The servers are really friendly and the ambience is a mix of chique and warm. Definitely recommend for a good night out with friends or for a date.

  • Review 62 (2020-12-07 - Rating: 4)

The food was great. I started with samosas. They were great.i had the lamb shank Rohan josh. It was so tasty. They give you plenty of rice and naan. The servers were attentive. The interior was very cool. It was fashioned after imperialistic England.

  • Review 63 (2021-08-31 - Rating: 4)

Didnt get drunk but ordered a bunch of food on a Sunday evening. The dishes are pretty much self sufficient thalis complete with naan, rice, side salad and main item. We tried madras railway chicken curry, lamb rogan josh and paneer tikka masala among 5 of us with 2 extra naans. Quantity was enough but taste was decent. Service was good and outdoor ambience quite nice.

  • Review 64 (2019-03-29 - Rating: 5)

Great atmosphere and excellent cocktail. Indian foods are so delicious from appetizer to main dish. They open until midnight so it is very convenient if you would like to seek the good place to drink at late night in upper east side. They offer reasonable set menu which includes cocktail, appetizer and main dish with nan bread.

  • Review 65 (2016-11-06 - Rating: 5)

By far, the cutest and classiest niche place Ive been to. This place is all about detail - detail, detail, and detail. The decor is thought out to every painstaking bit - right from the monkey statue on the tree outside with a little glass, to the cricket balls, and Anglo-Indian, engraved cutlery, to the cricket balls, and the elephant head coat-hooks. And this is just the beginning of it.The cocktails are very well-thought-out and uniquely crafted, and delicious. The service is very sincere and friendly. The food takes it up one notch. Especially being an Indian, I have to say this is like no other place Ive been to - its Indian, yet not authentically Indian. And I mean that in the most complimentary way. Neither is it among the many places that tries to tailor Indian cuisine to the American palate, leaving a very hesitant and finicky flavor-palette. The food at Drunken Munkey is beautiful crafted based on the British colonial era, easy-to-eat, presented beautifully, and delicious.Clearly, a place to go gaga over!

  • Review 66 (2024-08-02 - Rating: 4)

The menu is extensive. Would be nice to see a budget house wine on the menu. A bit odd to have TVs playing at this price point; off would be much preferred for this rascal. The food was somewhat more bland than I had hoped. Service could use some refinement, the host was on point, severs were very friendly, food was fast, although not coursed as requested. The mango salad tasted healthy but lacked depth. The gobi cauliflower could have used a bit more tang/sauce/unami than what it had. Im sure it was healthy but sometimes I like to disguise the fact I eat rabbit food. The lighting was intimate and the temperature was cool. A funky monkey chandelier gives the dining room character and humor.I will likely give it another try and taste something else next time because the staff was so caring.

  • Review 67 (2023-02-08 - Rating: 4)

Very nice ambience. So friendly staff. Good food. It was bit americanized for the crowd here. So spices were subtle. But we liked the food. Tried shrimp cocktail appetizer, chicken briyani and gajar halwa. Shrimp cocktail was decent but was a bit bland and quantity was very very less. Just 5 pieces for the price. Chicken briyani was good though americanized with spices. Gajar ka halwa was so good.

  • Review 68 (2024-08-21 - Rating: 5)

Great food. To order online, I’d suggest going directly to the UberEats website. I spent 30 minutes trying to use the link on the restaurant’s website and just got increasingly frustrated. Thanks for the quick reply and the desert!

  • Review 69 (2021-04-10 - Rating: 5)

One of the best Indian restaurants in New York! We had the lamb tikka sliders for an appetizer with two fun cocktails (one was the places signature punch and the othet was a Gin cocktail). I had the lamb birani for a main course that came with naan bread baked over the bowl. The spices were flavorful and hot (I love spicy food) and the meat was so tender and good. My gf has the chicken tikka masala which was amazing as well. Great place, very recommended!

  • Review 70 (2023-03-04 - Rating: 4)

Good food, including vegetarian options. Friendly service. One less star because the portions were a bit small, the green mango salad was a bit disappointing.

  • Review 71 (2022-03-14 - Rating: 5)

Im not Indian so i don’t know what quality Indian food is but I promise you this is the best I’ve ever had.

  • Review 72 (2024-08-30 - Rating: 5)

Best Indian food in NYC, period. Coming from the UK with an abundance of top Indian cuisine, nothing else has come close to the drunken monkey. Staff are lovely, bar is animate and food is moreish.

  • Review 73 (2021-03-09 - Rating: 5)

We went here with not much expectations and not knowing what to order at all. all we were searching for was meat. The experience was awesome! good service and good food.i ordered the Lamb seekh Kababs.she ordered the chicken biryani. both were sooo good. especially the lamb with the green sauce (i think thats the mint sauce) it is an appetizer based on their menu but will for sure pass for main course just add rice ;)we did not care too much with the Pani Puri. we just wanted to try something new. not our thing. lol its like just sauce inside. i was expecting theres something chewy.

The Indian-British menu and decor work well together. Dishes are creative & I ate crispy okra & loved it. We were there to celebrate a birthday & they brought out a small cake with sparklers, dimmed the lights & turned it to a Bollywood disco for a moment. Fun!

So thankful to have this Indian spot on the UES. Great cocktail options and Indian beers! Loved having this slightly up scale Indian restaurant with a fun vibe. Can’t wait to return!! The portions were very generous. Can’t wait to go back!

  • Review 76 (2020-05-05 - Rating: 4)

Great food, great service, the only reason Im not giving it 5 stars is that its an homage to the British East India company, which is really weird. Its the equivalent of having a US slave plantation restaurant in the UK.That said the food is really good and they have great cocktails.I recommend: chili cheese toast, Pani Puri, crispy okra, malabar shrimp curry, lamb meatballs.

  • Review 77 (2019-11-12 - Rating: 5)

Fabulous & delicious BIrthday brunch for a friend!! Crowded little spot so be sure to make a reservation. Food is delicious & service was on point! My omelette was light & fluffy, the lamb burger tasty and cooked as ordered; everyone else loved the kati rolls & briyani! Try the punch!!

  • Review 78 (2018-10-13 - Rating: 5)

Outstanding. As someone who travels to India often, I can attest to the authenticity of the flavors and the spices. Highly recommended - particularly the sheesh kebabs and the paneer.Note: best to reserve via yelp so you avoid the long wait to be seated.

  • Review 79 (2015-05-19 - Rating: 5)

This is a great place for food and drinks with a small group of friends or a date. Its not usually too packed and you can have a conversation without screaming across the table. The food is very flavorful and the drinks are well balanced. The decor is really fun. One of my favorites in the area.

  • Review 80 (2022-05-20 - Rating: 5)

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for years and finally had a chance to go for dinner. They did not disappoint! I ordered vegetable samosas as an appetizer and two side dishes chana masala and cauliflower foogath. We also shared some garlic naan and green beans. I didn’t get rice since I only ordered apps/sides. My mother in law shared her rice with me so I could try it. omg the best rice I’ve ever had. I never thought rice could be that good. I’ll definitely be back soon!

  • Review 81 (2020-09-20 - Rating: 5)

Fantastic food with a good vibe and great service. We ate here in their outdoor seating during COVID. The outdoor seating had personality, and the food exceeded our expectations. I’d recommend the butter chicken curry.

  • Review 82 (2022-01-20 - Rating: 5)

First time trying British Indian food.. incredible! We got the crispy okra, cucumber mango salad, veggie samosas and the star of the evening VEGETABLE KORMA (my fave!). Perfect portion size and the garlic naan was chef’s kiss. Can’t wait to enjoy this spot again.Fun fact they always have a James Bond Roger Moore era movie on the screen above the bar. Kinda fun!

Wow is all I can say! Had the signature short rib entree and it was delicious! The most tender short rib Ive ever experienced!!! I work at a restaurant where we serve short rib and people rave about ours, doesnt even compare, sorry!!! Definitely recommend to everyone! Even the side of smokedmasheds potatoes were tongue dazzling! Will be coming back just for this all the way from Central Jersey!!! Thank you Drunken Monkey

Came with a friend who used to live in the area and frequented many years ago. Very interesting decor to say the least... but good vibes and expensive but yummy indian food. Drinks were also very unique and worth checking out

  • Review 91 (2022-04-10 - Rating: 5)

This place is a classic NYC gem. Not only is the food phenomenal, but the high caliber staff elevates the dining experience. Luis made our experience very special. This place is reservation only during dinner so be sure to snag a res early. We loved sitting at the bar and enjoying the cozy vibes. Great spot if you’re looking to impress a date with a gem.

We live in Midtown East and this place is in the UES, so its a trek for us to get there, but we really enjoy their brunch so make the effort every once in a while. When we lived in the UES we used to go maybe once every 2 weeks. This place is super cute, its small, but cozy and the decor is cool. Its a British style Indian restaurant and they have some delicious things on the menu you wont find anywhere else in Manhattan, ie- the chili cheese toast (which makes my mouth water as I type it).We went with my parents and everyone really enjoyed the food. Only issue is that the place was completely packed and there were only 2 people working there so it took a long time to place our order, get our food, get the bill, etc. But if you arent in a rush, then I will definitely recommend this place as the food is delicious.IG-traveleen_gurl

Vegetarian eater. I really like this place and its vibe! Ive gone there twice now even though I try not to repeat restaurants in manhattan! Eleanor was a great server with lots of spunk and humor. The biryani is my favorite. I wish their paneer makhani portion size was bigger!

  • Review 98 (2019-12-03 - Rating: 5)

The service is some of the best I’ve ever encounter in a restaurant such as this one. The Indian food is only slightly better than average, but I am giving them 5 stars for their drinks and their amazing service.

Long-term UES GEM. You wont go wrong coming here!

  • Review 102 (2017-03-13 - Rating: 5)

Drunken Monkey is one of my favorite spots in the city. Its like the best of both worlds: great food and great cocktails. For cocktails I recommend the bramble, hands down. The army and navy and pimps no 1 are also solid. For food, everything Ive ordered here is delicious. The chili cheese toast is like an open faced spicy grilled cheese or sauce-less spicy pizza? Cant describe it any other way, but its awesome! The paneer tikkas and the stuffed simla mirch (stuffed pepper) are other excellent appetizer options. For entree, I love the butter paneer tikka masala. It comes with amazing rice and bread.

Thus restaurant has a Indian 1980s cricket theme. Bit costly.. But food is very tasty. Surprise birthday song and cake is speciality here. You may plan for dinner here when you have ur friend/family members birthday. You have drinks too. Old hindi movies are being played when I visited. Must visit

  • Review 104 (2021-06-04 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 106 (2021-06-22 - Rating: 5)

Excellent Indian food and cocktails.Everything we had tasted great but I was disappointed with the lack of heat. All the food comes very mild, but still tasted fabulous. Best old fashion I’ve had in a while.

Decent place with good service. Dont expect authentic Indian taste or portion size, and youll be satisfied. Dahi puri was a little underwhelming. Mango Lassi and Malabar Shrimp curry didnt disappoint. Didnt try their desserts, but they looked amazing.

The manager Luis is outstanding with anything you need. Food was great as always. Lamb sliders are my favorite. Small but very accommodating location where you can finally dine in. Will keep going for sure. You wont be disappointed.

  • Review 121 (2019-04-01 - Rating: 4)

Very colonial, with old school, probably inappropriate decor. Cocktails and bar snacks are quite good.

  • Review 122 (2021-10-29 - Rating: 5)

Excellent food. Very tasty. Mixed drinks were excellent. Best restaurant experience Ive had in quite a while.

  • Review 123 (2021-04-18 - Rating: 4)

Lovely outdoor seating and cozy decor, great cocktails and friendly waitstaff. Food was very good, however, we asked for extra spicy dishes and were served fairly mild, no different than the meals of others at the table who asked for mild. Indian food needs to be spicy! Felt a bit rushed at the end, though left well before the alloted 90 minutes.

  • Review 124 (2024-07-10 - Rating: 5)

On a Monday night I was glad this place was open.Started with the pani puri. Very good. Some were very large and hard to eat in one bite but mission accomplished!Next was the butter chicken roll. I love this dish and get it all the time. Very nice with the roti and red onion inside. Came with a side of butter chicken dipping sauce. My star of the meal. The seekh kebabs were nice. Came on a bed of veggies and had a chutney and tamarind sauce. Ordered butter naan since it didn’t come with any bread or rice. Was ok.Mango lassi was very nice. But why serve it in a useless paper straw?

  • Review 125 (2016-08-03 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 127 (2016-07-18 - Rating: 4)

Ive been to a lot of Italian delis in Queens and this small yet quaint gem might be the best in the borough has to offer. The placed conjured memories of my child hood staying in East Harlem with my Italian grandmother. Its an ode to the old school pork shops in Little Italy. The smell of pecorino romano cheese swallows your senses one you step in the door. The service by this family-run spot is impeccable and instantly made you feel welcomed, offering samples of some the stores personally cured Italian cold cuts. The pasta in meat sauce was decadent and obscenely large for one person and at a reasonably low price. The meats are marinated and cut on daily basis. But this is the place for the ultimate Italian sub: Rosino Panino. It combines the velvetly thin slices of prosciutto cotto with pecorino romano cheese and tomatoes. The sandwich melted in my mouth. On your next visit, sink your teeth into The King of New York: slices of London Broil, bacon, melted sharp provolone with olives and sauteed onions. Savor this Italian version of the Philly Cheesesteak. If anything, come in and soak in the place. Walk around and look at the Italian products, the pictures of Robert DeNiro on the wall (he and his crew frequent the place while he filmed A Bronx Tale).Youd keep coming back for more.

  • Review 128 (2018-09-06 - Rating: 5)

The cocktails are great. The food was a mix of ok to great. The railway chicken tasted fine, but nothing worth mentioning. The fried okra was more like a chip with no real okra taste. It was ok, but I would have rather they fry it less to keep more of the okra taste. The whole cooked fish tasted great and was wonderfully spiced. For dessert we got the chocolate cake type thing. It was decent, but needs something to add more texture. The mango lassi is more tart and daal tasting than most others Ive had before.

For drinks, I usually get the Blackberry Chérie, but have enjoyed the Paanch as well — make sure to go with a group to get the bowl. As for food, I ALWAYS get the Stuffed Simla Mirch to start as it’s full of deliciousness. Then, I follow with either the vegetarian Biryani or Butter Paneer Tikka Masala. Make sure to end your meal with a rum ball!
