This is my absolute favorite spot get hookah in the city. The vibes are SO GOOD with a North African flair. Very chill and relaxing and the music is always right.They have so many flavors, they’re never harsh, choice of regular pipe, ice pipe, and fruit bowls. While the hookah is great, the food is also delicious. I usually get hummus, grape leaves, and falafel with mint tea. Sometimes I’ll grab a beer or wine with it.On top of all that, owner and staff are phenomenal. So friendly and welcoming.

By far my favorite hookah spot for the past 6 years. I’m a hookah head and I try hookah everywhere I travel. And none touch this place. Chill, great middle eastern, rnb, or afrobeats music. And the love 66 with the ice hose is life. I always get friends the Moroccan mint tea. La Sultana is an authentic experience where you can catch up with a friend, a date, or a bday group. If you are hungry get rhe Merguez platter (lamb).

Best place for shisha in the city! From the moment you walk in youre greeted with friendly outstanding service. The food is also amazing and you can tell much effort is put into everything. The owner Ali is always there thats how you know he really cares about his customers. Also the decor is incredible really makes you feel youre no longer in New York but instead somewhere in North Africa.

La Sultana is an amazing place to go in the east village if you are looking to smoke hookah or just sit back and hang out with friends. I highly recommend the sweet tea they offer; I can go through 5 of them in a night! The owner is awesome, very knowledgeable, and friendly to all the customers. Best place in that area!

I love the decor and ambiance of this place. My friend got tea, neither of us tried the other drinks or food. Had mango hookah with some mint. The staff is very nice and brought an extension cord over so I could charge my phone. The vibe is very relaxed. It wasn’t busy when we came around 8pm on a Saturday evening.

I’ve been going to La Sultana for over 10 years now. Whether you’re looking for a place to smoke Shisha for a night, a venue for celebration, or a home base that anchors your New York experience - La Sultana is the best place for it. It has incredible Shisha, lots of flavors to choose from, attentive staff that you don’t have to wait a long time to change coals, intimate comfortable setting, and the best cheesecake. The owner Ali is wonderful and will make sure that you’re well taken care of.

Ive smoked hookah in LOTS of places, having lived in Germany (and smoked hookah in multiple middle eastern venues, I even own one), and I can tell you that this place is BY FAR the absolute BEST place Ive ever encountered in the US. The hookah is clean, the staff is so friendly, the tobacco is high end, and the coals are even mixed with citrus coals (didnt even know this existed). Im obsessed. This is the best hookah bar Ive been to since Ive been back. I will certainly be here again and I recommend this place to anybody trying to find a good smoke. 5 stars.

Loved this place! I can be picky about hookah lounges since Ive had my share of good and bad ones. I came here with my friend and boyfriend and we had an apple-grapefruit blend. It was perfect! It was packed well and never got harsh, they had someone come around to check/replace the coals regularly, the waiter was very attentive and cleared out the hookah every now and then. I had the cardamom tea which was also very good. We will definitely be back here!

Really surprised by some of these negative reviews. For context, I’ve been going here for about 7 years as my regular hookah spot. The atmosphere is cosy, and every single person I’ve brought here has agreed: the food tends to hit the spot the way a nourishing home cooked meal would. I always recommend the shawarma platter but generally anyone I’ve brought here has enjoyed any other dish they’ve ordered too. Hookah is tended to the way proper hookah lounges should - consistently and constantly with coal changes. I’ve complained about an occasional coal or flavour issue - not their fault, just happens sometimes - and this is immediately rectified. Drinks are lovely - beautiful herbal teas as well. Prices are NYC standard, or possibly quite a bit lower when you consider that there are other hookah places charging 50-120 for one pipe (and terrible service). This is a great place for introverts or small groups that want to have an evening together that’s balm for the nervous system - it’s the type of place you could probably even come to do some work or read a book (I do this often). Music is great in terms of selection, but not so loud that you can’t hear yourself think (or other people talking). Oh: and they’re open until very late if you find the conversation going on longer than expected :)

Really cozy lounge with a good variety of flavors and good service. What made this 5 stars for me is that they let us order food to the place and brought it in for us - so we were able to chill and smoke while waiting for pizza and wings to be delivered! This place is also open till very late so there was no rush.

I went here on a rainy weekday. Great place to hang out with friends with a calm ambience — the mood lighting is inviting and warm, they also place very good soft music. The staff was attentive and easygoing as they were mindful of our table but also having joyous conversation amongst each other. It’s great to see a place with a good work environment, positive energy and happy staff. The hookah was very smooth and the staff are very good with recommendations whether it’s your first time or you’re an avid hookah smoker. I would recommend this place for friends and dates looking to wind down. The food selection is also very nice if you do not partake in hookah yourself. Lovely spot!

Passed by with a friend for a short hookah session early Friday evening and it went great. Loved the vibe and the whole place was aesthetically very pleasing. We headed towards the back (romantic section) and got our hookah rather quickly. They refill your coal and service was great, albeit it wasn’t too many people there since it was still around 7ish. To top it off, music was on point (r&b while we were there). Will definitely be going back!

This has been my go-to hookah joint for three years now and there isnt one like it anywhere in Manhattan. The biggest draw for me is the chill atmosphere and rustic stone interior. They have a nice spread of flavors, real oven fired coals, and a selection of great middle-eastern staples made in-house. The service is always friendly and accommodating. The owner, Ali, is usually there as well and is always up for good conversation.

A gem of a place in upper east side part of Manhattan. The food is delicious and hookah is prob the best in Manhattan. This place and mocha hookah in Brooklyn are far ahead of competition when it comes to hookah. I also like the laid back lighting and ambiance of this place. A word of advice, get cash before you go Bec sometimes they dont accept cards. They do have a shady ATM on site too but Id avoid that. They have a huge space in the back, go sit there.
