    I had an incredible time at 161 Lafayette Karaoke Bar, and Alex made the experience truly unforgettable! From the moment I walked in, Alex’s warm and friendly energy set the perfect tone for the night. He was incredibly attentive, making sure our group felt welcome and had everything we needed to have a great time.Alex’s knowledge of the sound system was top-notch—he ensured the mics and music were perfectly balanced, so every performance sounded amazing. Whether it was helping us choose songs, getting us set up quickly, or just hyping up the room with his enthusiasm, Alex was a superstar the entire evening.What really stood out was Alex’s ability to make everyone feel like a VIP.     I had a great time at 161 the first time we were there. Even though there were some discomfort the second time, they made efforts to make sure I’d feel better about coming back and I appreciate that, knowing it’s not all places that are willing to do it.

    My partner and I went here last night for some karaoke. It’s a very small bar but packed full of fun and entertainment. The bartender, Alex and owner, Kevin are incredibly nice, provided great service, and chatted with us throughout the evening. We met tons of super cool people and got to sing quite a bit. The drinks were good and reasonably priced for NYC. We will definitely come back again.

    161 is a hidden, local treasure. The crowd was filled with regulars and travelers alike with everyone being so welcoming and enthusiastic for karaoke. I’ve brought multiple friend groups who have loved the vibe and continue to do so!

    Hole in the wall but clean and with very friendly and attentive service. Drink options are limited but dont let that stop you. If you come early you can get a seat at bar and plenty of chances to show of your talent. If you just want to listen then you will find some regulars with awesome voices.

    Had great fun at this tiny, but packed bar. The bar keeper was managing the karaoke and keeping the drinks coming and she was always available whenever we needed anything. We were so impressed by the great atmosphere here and the lovely crowd that joined in with everyone’s songs.

    This hole in the wall is honestly a hidden gem. Its a small bar but you cant beat the chill vibes, the friendly people, and the karaoke. The bartender was awesome too, super easy to talk to! It can get pretty crowded later on in the night so go earlier and youll pretty much get the karaoke all to yourself! Would totally go back here again with friends in the future

    Aaron and JC are truly talented artists in thier own right. Its worth it to pop into 161 Lafayette, in the hopes you might be treated to a free show. On any given night one of them might climb out from behind the bar... to belt out a song. Ive been to too many live performances to count or remember, and the level of talent the bar staff posses is bananas! You will hear anything from sorority girls on a night out, to professionals passing through. Its tiny...hot in the back...cold in the front...but oh so worth it!

    If you like Karaoke and having fun this is the spot. Intimate, friendly, and a good time every time. Kevin knows whats up and doesn’t play around. Highly recommend. Alex and Kelvin will be your guys at the bar.

    I wanted to come here on my last visit to the city, but it was closed for a private party. It was open this time though, and I got to fulfil my dream of singing to a bunch of strangers in New York!Tiny place, but filled with friendly, fun people, my singing earned me high-fives and hugs. The bar staff can certainly hold a tune too!If I find myself in New York again, you can bet Ill be heading here.

    I firmly believe this is THE BEST KARAOKE BAR IN TOWN!!! This place is all about the vibe, and bartenders and other staff actually care about you having a good time, they make you feel like your singing experience is important! The mic is wired, and stays on the little stage, so you have to walk to it, which means you will never miss your song! Bartender sometimes sings along if your song has parts you can’t sing, so it helps smooth out your performance if needed! Such a nice thoughtful touch ✨ I honestly don’t think there’s a better karaoke place in NYC, and I’ve tried so many of them)))

    Came here for a karaoke night with a group of friends. It’s a small cozy place and the vibe is SO good! Towards the night everyone is singing together :) They have an app which has a list of songs, and you can ask your name to be added to the queue for $2 per song. The cocktails were okay, but good enough to make you drunk and that’s what matters ;)

    I went to 161 Lafayette and was definitely skeptical at first. I shouldnt have been....It was one of the most fun nights Ive had in a while. They have the friendliest, most welcoming crowd and service I have encountered in NYC (and affordable drinks).There was a mishap while I was there and my credit card got lost, and the bartender was so concerned and genuinely apologetic- I was satisfied that it was a mistake and that he was extremely sympathetic. He in no way needed to do what he did next... He pulled out his wallet and handed me enough cash to get home, commute to work the next morning, and pay for my breakfast and lunch the next day. I cant thank him enough for his kindness. It made my week and saved my night. 11/10 the best people and Karaoke in the cityIf my story isnt enough, the friend who invited me went to 161 Lafayette for the first time a week ago, and shes been four times since.A note to the owner, read this review, please show the bartender on 7/29/2021 how appreciative I am, then give him a RAISE!!!

    We stumbled upon this place when craving late night karaoke. It’s a very small bar and feels like everyone there is friends, in a good way. We were 3 tourists but we felt welcomed in with open arms and had such a great night. Highly recommend!

    I was getting ready to go to 161 karaoke and I just saw the review by amber bellow. I witnessed how she insulted the door guy and used a racist slur towards the door guy. The door guy stopped you because you were trying to get in by force without showing your ID, carrying an alcoholic beverage from outside. I saw how you placed your drink on the ground next to the bar entrance and started insulting the door guy who was polite and respectful toward you. Here, you didn’t stop. you went to get a big guy who tried to bribe the door guy which door guy refused. It Is sad you spread lies about this place. I had to walk away as well because of your attitude at the entrance! I don’t come that often to this karaoke bar but when I do I have a great time and all staff are welcoming and specially the door guy is just the most friendly person I have ever interact in most bars I have ever been in NY.

    A lovely place found on my most recent trip to NYC. A whole in the wall with great atmosphere and great team behind the bar. Sophie served a great Manhattan and was great to have a chat with before the place got busy. All of the sudden the venue got packed and people sang some great tunes to the overall appreciation of the entire crowd.

    Easily my favorite karaoke bar in NYC. The bartenders (JC, Kelvin, Ish, V, and Kevin) are some of the best. In addition to making some of the best drinks, they’re some of the kindest, coolest cats around. I honestly have fallen in love with this city even more (if that’s possible) because of the community this wonderful establishment fosters. And don’t forget, tip your bartender!!

    A stop at this Karaoke bar completely by chance, once inside I let myself be carried away by the magic of this place, the decoration was colorful and all in light. I had a fun and pleasant time while listening to music , it was fabulous. Theredrink was very good. I recommend 5/5, whether you have a nice voice (or not). 🌟 🎤🌟
