I love coffee spots like this where people behind the counter make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in! This is a cute little spot with couple chairs inside. Coffee and lattes are good. Its only 2 blocks from Columbia hospital so their coffee is fantastic alternative to Starbucks or any deli. Hope they remain open for a long time. -

The place is quite small, but the atmosphere is comfortable and friendly. The service was good and the quality of the coffee even better. -

The barista was kind enough to let me try the bodega brew before I purchased the beans.I already had two cups of americano by the time I dropped by The Plug, so we had a hot chocolate and a chai latte, which were both excellent. -

Friendly staff, and great drinks and baked goods. While small inside, there are two tables to sit at, or a bench outside. They also are the only Tiny Skate shop in Manhattan! How fun! -

Title: A Flavorful Oasis with a Friendly Touch!Review:I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Plug, a delightful coffee place owned by the affable Ben, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was greeted with warmth and a genuine smile, instantly making me feel welcome.Lets talk about the coffee – it was an absolute revelation for my taste buds! The rich, full-bodied flavor of their brews left me captivated. Whether I indulged in their cappuccino or savored a classic cup of joe, each sip was a symphony of taste, carefully crafted to perfection. The balance of flavors was spot-on, and the distinct notes were allowed to shine through without overwhelming my palate. One of the things that impressed me the most was the attention to detail in creating a coffee experience that was crisp and refreshing. The baristas at The Plug clearly understand the art of brewing, ensuring that every cup is made with precision and care. It was evident that they take immense pride in their craft, as each cup was a testament to their dedication.Another aspect that sets The Plug apart is their commitment to maintaining a balance between sweetness and boldness. I found their beverages to be perfectly calibrated, not overly sweet but still delivering that delightful touch of indulgence. Its rare to find a coffee place that manages to strike such a harmonious balance, and The Plug certainly does it with finesse.Beyond the exceptional coffee, the ambiance of The Plug is a testament to the owners passion for creating a welcoming space. Bens friendly nature and genuine interest in his customers added an extra layer of warmth to the overall experience. The Plug is an oasis for coffee enthusiasts seeking an extraordinary taste adventure. Bens passion for coffee shines through in every cup, and his dedication to providing a friendly and welcoming environment sets this place apart. If youre looking for bold, well-balanced flavors that will leave you wanting more, The Plug is undoubtedly the place to be. Highly recommended! -

This is a small (2 tables and a total of 6 seats inside the coffee shop) but cozy place. Perhaps its not a place to go and work cuz it doesnt have much space but is good for a small chat with friends and of course to enjoy a coffee ☕ -

I walked in after a tough day visiting one of my adult children in the C-P hospital and walked into the best coffee shop experience I have had in NYC. Great coffee, seriously amazing jam donut, a delightful patron, great service and a wonderful tiny flipboard skate shop. I know where I am going from now when it comes to getting coffee here. -
Review 14 (2024-07-04 - Rating: 5)

Review 19 (2022-08-21 - Rating: 5)
I discovered this gem about 2 months ago and have had amazing experiences each time I’ve stopped by! Their iced coffee hits the spot. I’ve also tried their iced lavender latte with espresso and iced dirty chai and both were delicious, not too sweet with great flavor from the espresso and other ingredients. They have a punch card, so you get a free coffee after you buy 10–but their coffee is so good that you would come back anyway. They are also so friendly there, often chatting with you as they make your coffee. If you are ever at NYP hospital, visiting the Armory for track, or work or study at Columbia’s medical campus, make sure you check out the Plug! The best coffee I’ve had in Washington Heights, and honestly one of the best I’ve had in NYC! -

Such a great place to go and get a cup of coffee. You need to try the chocolate mocha! So delicious !!!! The pastries are to die for !!! Such a beautiful aesthetic and great customer service. You will not be disappointed and prices are so good it makes you not want to go to Starbucks or Dunkin! Staff is amazing and they are always willing to help adjust your drink if needed. Go to The Plug! You won’t regret it! -

Today my husband and I visited this coffee shop. Firstly excellent service. Delicious coffee and cozy environment. They don’t sell only coffee and pastry they also have artisanal jewelry 😍. It is like a small boutique inside a coffee shop. I will definitely come back again to taste more items. -

Review 29 (2024-07-25 - Rating: 5)
I’m in town for surgery and decided to stop by here for coffee and pastries before heading home. Ben and Caridel, the patron who sells She The People, her line of super comfortable clothing, were two of the nicest people I’ve ever met in the city, and probably my life. If you’re looking for a welcoming place for coffee, fresh bites, and cool gadgets, this is the spot. I wish I could’ve bought the whole store. I’ll be recommending it to everyone I know who goes to the city from NC and would go out of my own way to stop by again in the future. -
Review 30 (2024-10-12 - Rating: 5)
The best part about exploring is discovering a hidden gem! I rode passed this cafe numerous times and finally had a chance to stop in! The cafe’s decor is creative and very welcoming by the owner. I ordered the dirty chai tea latte and OMG it’s the best latte I had in a long time! Do not hesitate to support this cafe; way better than Starbucks! If unable to walk in then definitely order online through Grubhub or Seamless. -
Review 31 (2022-04-14 - Rating: 5)

Best coffee shop in the Heights -
Review 51 (2024-05-28 - Rating: 5)
My roommate and I come here just about every day! In a small space Ben and Abbie have really created a real bastion of community in the heights. The owners, staff, and patrons are warm and inviting - the atmosphere is always friendly. Even in a rush Sofia will always greet you with a sincere smile and ask you about your day. Id tell you to try the cheese danishes, but then theyll run out too fast for me to get there in the mornings. They highlight local artists in their mini shop and on their walls, its a great environment and I my favorite pair of earrings was purchased here.My only complaint is that theyve completely ruined me for chai lattes everywhere else in the city. Justin knocks it out of the park every time and you can really tell how much he knows about his craft. On every level, I cant recommend this place enough. -
Review 52 (2023-07-12 - Rating: 5)

Small shop, solid coffee options. They serve Gotham coffee. -
Review 62 (2023-11-01 - Rating: 5)
The cutest little snug coffee shop in the neighborhood with the best coffee. Ive tried their hot and iced lattes, both unsweetened and with syrup (pistachio, vanilla, and lavender) and everything is top notch. The baristas really know what theyre doing and it beats Starbucks down the street by miles. I wish this place were more well-known because they deserve more hype! Also love their matcha and cold brew. Sad to have left the Heights because I will miss this place. -

Review 71 (2023-02-13 - Rating: 5)
The best coffee I found during my visit to New York. Their chai latte is fantastic and they offer freshly baked treats such as blueberry scones. I went there every day I was up in the Heights. My only comment is that ceramic cups should be offered for those sitting in the cafe, although I understand why they dont because its a small space. -

Review 79 (2023-02-09 - Rating: 5)
The coolest coffee shop in Manhattan. They are a small shop that cares about the community, features artist installations, and sells local artist’s prints, clothes, jewelry, etc. It’s stoner vibes, with papers, grinders, and high times/broccoli mags, so that’s dope. TRY THE CHAI!! -
Review 80 (2022-11-08 - Rating: 5)
