Tasty wines by the glass to choose from and all consistently good. Food is not the best. Stick to cheese and charcuterie and save your appetite for another restaurant. The country pate was one of the best Ive had. The space is urbane and sophisticated and service was professional and attentive. -

Great express lunch menu, very charming atmosphere and attentive service. It’s also great for a drink after work. -
Review 3 (2024-12-18 - Rating: 5)
Had the daily flight of wines (Grenache), tried a few of the wine selections as well as the daily pour during our time there. The Hungarian natural wine was dry and a unique experience. The atmosphere was great when we were on the couches - although the high tops were comfortable, the seating style was not great. Service was attentive and interesting. -

Really nice wine and snack bar. Very pleasant. My server was w minako who listened to what I like and make great suggestions of totally different regions. I tried a French Syrah and an Australian red wine. Both were about $20 per glass. Great place, good service. Knowledgeable and competent and friendly. 4.8 ⭐️ -

Cozy hideout in the midtown jungle with friendly, helpful service and comfortable couches. They have a wide selection of wine by the glass and bottle (mostly 100+) and delicious dishes that’s sharing friendly. Recommend the arancini and duck confit. They also have a fondue menu that’s perfect for colder days! -

Had a few glasses of Champagne here with my partner which were wonderful. The winelist is as you would expect from a master somm, fabulous. New favorite spot, will be back! -

Great ambiance. Outside even. Magnificent creative carrot side. Beet/ goat cheese was tasty too. -
Review 8 (2024-02-14 - Rating: 5)
Great staff with deep knowledge of wines. Though can get pricey if trying many of their top wines... -
Review 9 (2023-03-13 - Rating: 5)
Amazing wine bar with great selections. Great place to hang out with friends, coworkers, or family. -
Review 10 (2021-03-25 - Rating: 5)
When a wine bar serves their wine in Zalto wine glasses, you know they are serious about what they do. (Zalto is an Austrian stemware brand, all their glasses are handmade. Feather light and elegant.)Very extensive menu by bottles, also a good variety for by glasses. The servers are very knowledgeable about the wine. Food menu is very wine pairing friendly, portion size is just right. This is a great place in midtown to enjoy quality wine. I heard Aldo Sohm is here often. -
Review 11 (2022-12-23 - Rating: 5)
The place was not too loud and had a feeling of hotel restaurant. We tried Fondue which is not easy yo get in the US. It was fine. The wine selection was good as well. -
Review 12 (2024-05-20 - Rating: 4)
I always feel that I should like this place more than I do. I love Aldo Sohm and Le B and wine bars, and the selection here is amazing, but I’ve never been blown away by a recommendation or a pairing. Everyone is polite. The Italian soft cheeses were very good. But something is missing (je ne sais quoi bien sûr). It’s Terroir and Corkbuzz for me for the inspiration in NYC. -
Review 13 (2024-05-08 - Rating: 5)
Great relaxed atmosphere and a serious wine list. We had the charcuterie tower, oysters and shrimps paired with the Patchwork Tissot and then JM Stephan coteaux de Tupin. The service was excellent. -
Review 14 (2024-02-07 - Rating: 5)
Went for date night on a Tuesday and the atmosphere was great. We did not have a reservation but were able to get a spot on the comfy couch without waiting. We arrived at around 7:15. The atmosphere was great for talking. Low music and dim lighting made for great date vibes. We went after work, so were in smart casual/clean jeans. Our server was very knowledgeable about the wine selection and helped us choose 5 great glasses of wine (we were all over that menu). We ordered three small plates. They were all very good, but the grilled avocado was very small. Overall, this was a great place for an intimate chat or a relaxed glass of wine. I will definitely be back. -
Review 15 (2024-05-05 - Rating: 4)
Previously 5 star experiences for us now should be knocked down one star (at least). Having been here numerous times over the past few years, we noticed that the food menu has never changed. And while most are quite good, some change up would keep things interesting. The service has always been very good but only after you get past the front door. We were seated in the very attractivebut ultimately too low and uncomfortable lounge pit. We asked for one of the available hightops but were told they were only for 4 people ( we were 2). Subsequent parties of 2 were seated at hightops and when inquiring of the host, I was told various reasons as to why those people were seated there, none of which came to pass (e.g. 2 party waiting for a third that never showed, etc).I would recommend the apple artichoke salad, the short ribs and the duck confidential (although the beans served alongside were a bit bland and lacked any richness).Table servers were great though and we had a nice time. -
Review 16 (2022-11-23 - Rating: 5)
I enjoyed this place and got there when it opened at noon. The short rib was the only good item I really wanted but was told it was available at dinner time after 4. After my first glass, the waitress came back and told me the chef could make the dish. Thrilled, I ordered it along with my second glass of a red reserve which was an 09 Bordeaux for $70. I would not have ordered this without the short rib. Both the dish and wines were worth it for the two hours we were there. -
Review 17 (2023-10-08 - Rating: 4)
Ordered wine flight that was not great, server asked if we would like something else and comped the flight.Nice atmosphere to bring someone special before a broadway show. Corner table was perfect. -
Review 18 (2024-12-27 - Rating: 5)
We could not have enjoyed ourself more. Exceeded our expectations. -
Review 19 (2023-04-11 - Rating: 5)
We came here for a drink before dining across the galleria at Le Bernadin, and found the entire place empty on a holiday Friday at lunch time. The bartenders were kind, and let us sample a few different wines while telling us the background of each. The wine list features several interesting varietals along with typical Old World classics, at prices ranging from $15 to $65 for some of the offerings on the Coravin Reserve list. Aldo himself stopped in and greeted us as we were leaving, and invited us to come back another time. This is a great option if you work in the area and are a wine enthusiast, as you can likely find something new to try. -

Review 22 (2023-01-18 - Rating: 4)
This is a great space in New York for a casual meal with wonderful wine. Aldo has selected some great bottles and the staff will help you select based on your tastes. The food is quite good and satisfying. I particularly like the decoration on the inside, and the feel of the place. -
Review 23 (2024-03-21 - Rating: 5)
This wine bar in midtown is a gem among the sea of Irish Pubs and delis. The service is top-notch and international, adding to the welcoming vibe. Went alone, sat at the bar and ordered a charcuterie which was excellent value and quality, paired perfectly with bold reds, handpicked with the help of their awesome servers. Loved it. -
Review 24 (2019-11-02 - Rating: 5)
Fabulous butter squash soup, great selection of wine. It’s a perfect lunch spot away from the touristy and crowded places around. -
Review 25 (2023-05-07 - Rating: 5)

Review 26 (2023-01-10 - Rating: 5)
Very good ambiance, great service and good food. We spent christmas eve here and it was really good. We just walked in and had some various small portions of food. From oysters to bruchetta and some slices of meat. We enjoyed a few glasses of good wine and the place was really cozy! -
Review 27 (2023-07-11 - Rating: 4)
I was ecstatic to give this a visit on our trip to the big apple- the end result was just alright. We didn’t have a reservation, and we’re seated at our choosing (the bar) Kevin was attentive, and helpful with which wine to navigate next with.Four stars as-the aracini was a bit dry, needs more sauce or perhaps over cooked slightly. The plate needed a little finish wipe (nothing to cry over), the bursted tomatoes were a highlight of this dish with the pesto-truffle pasta lacked sauce too, and not much flavor, another dish that was just ok-short rib was spot on of the three, the mushrooms were delicate and delightful; the short rib pulled apart without tugging, too very little to no fatty pieces present-a plus note, all dishes had beautiful presentation to them-our neighbors had the tower, which was a unique way of cheese + charcuterieOverall, experience was pretty good, wine list was plenty to offer, especially when there’s wine you don’t normally get to try, atmosphere was cozy. I would absolutely come here for a glass with a friend or book. Wanted to try the wine flight, ran out of time. -
Review 28 (2022-11-04 - Rating: 4)
Casual wine bar menu and vibe especially outside and more intimate, mid-century modern vibes inside. The inside space wasnt too big. Theres a wide variety of wines you can select from with a bottle of wine ranging from 60-400+. Small plates are good. We got their 3 cheeses which came with jams and mini baguettes. Their bruschetta was unique and there cherry tomatoes very flavorful. Truffle fries were good as well. I had to wait a good 45 mins. for a seat in the evening. -

The most amazing spot in New York to have a glass of, great, wine and small bites. Felt really taking care of, attentive service, huge wine selection and served at the right temperature, definitely back here next time in NYc and highly recommend!! -

Awesome wine selection, served at the right temp. Great atmosphere, great location. Jordan at the hostess stand is tremendous, really helped us out and made our experience top notch. -
Review 34 (2022-08-04 - Rating: 4)
Beautiful atmosphere, knowledgeable staff and delicious food. Whole roasted cauliflower was cooked to a little less than al dente with a nice char and the chimichurri on top was a great pop to add to the mild taste of cauliflower. Burrata and mozzarella was good but served chilled which I think detracts from the flavor and creaminess. Bacon tarte was absolutely delicious. Crust was thin and crispy and bechamel sauce was mild but had a slight tang which was a nice offset to the rich bacon. Chilled red wine flight was perfect for a lunchtime. They have a linch special which they have listed on a type of rolling board that they drag around to the table before ordering. I thought this really detracted from the otherwise beautiful ambiance of the restaurant. -
Review 35 (2022-10-04 - Rating: 5)
Great atmosphere. Knowledgeable staff. Excellent wine selection. The master sommelier himself makes an appearance. Charcuterie left nothing to be desired! 10/10 -
Review 36 (2017-06-04 - Rating: 5)
Great place for tapas style food. Wine selection is great with knowledgeable servers to guide your choice if needed. The truffle pasta, spaghetti squash and eggplant steak were all excellent dishes. -
Review 37 (2019-03-09 - Rating: 5)
Amazing wine bar spot, located in the middle of two streets, next to Kaiser bakery. Great European wine selection, great little bites that keep you entertained during the drinking and talking! Staff is super friendly and helpful. Kudos to the French ow we who was extremely welcoming! Love this spot and recommend it vividly! -
Review 38 (2018-04-01 - Rating: 4)
Expensive but quality wines. Wish there was more variety in selection they had. Food (appetizers) were good. Truffle pasta was a bomb. Overall a nice place for a quick meeting over drinks. -
Review 39 (2016-06-03 - Rating: 5)
On a recent Memorial Day weekend trip to NYC, Aldo Sohm was recommended by a friend and it exceeded our expectations. The day was rather balmy and the cool, cozy atmosphere was welcoming from when we first entered. The staff was friendly and helpful in suggesting apps and wine. Both of which were outstanding. Our kids, 11 & 14, even commented about how cool the place was and they wished we couldve stayed longer. I highly recommend that you make Aldo Sohm part of your itinerary the next time you visit NYC or if you already live there. Well done & keep it up! -
Review 40 (2019-12-28 - Rating: 5)
Lovely place and great selection of wine. House Muller wine is a must try and chocolate mousse is cherry on top -
Review 41 (2017-04-25 - Rating: 5)
Interesting wine selections, good food, and a comfortable atmosphere, all for reasonable prices (by midtown/theater district standards). Also, my server/bartender was ridiculously well-informed and helpful. This place will be entering my rotation for post-theater drinks and snacks. -
Review 42 (2020-01-19 - Rating: 5)
I went for the Saturday wine school series. We had a sample of 4 wines from Spain and a small introduction about Spaniard wines. The overall experience was very pleasant, the wines were excellent and we had the chance to discuss with the sommelier about wines, food pairing. -
Review 43 (2023-12-23 - Rating: 4)
A comfortable bar with a solid wine list. Tough to find a good bottle for less than $150 so a bit in the pricy side -
Review 44 (2020-02-16 - Rating: 5)
Great wine list fun small plates and a wait staff that loves wine. The tarte flambé was good almost as good as Alsace. Loved the carrot dish and the short rib. End with fromage though. -
Review 45 (2019-04-19 - Rating: 4)

Review 49 (2017-01-21 - Rating: 5)
Selective list but they have an alternative for whatever you want (eg. Malbec for Merlot). Would not really recommend getting the small appetizers since they really are very small, but the cheese plate was amazing! Great atmosphere and service too! -

I recently visited Aldo Sohm Wine Bar after reading about it in the New York Times. The outdoor seating looked inviting, but with the citys humidity and the threat of a storm, we opted to sit indoors. The decor is nicely appointed and understated, seemingly designed to keep noise levels reasonable. Our waiter, Eric, had a solid knowledge of the wines served by the glass. As a novice with a curiosity for wine, I appreciated his thorough explanations of each wines characteristics. We ordered food, and the Croque Monsieur was the best Ive ever had. It featured a perfectly subtle béchamel with a touch of provincial herbs. The French fries were fresh and seemed to nod to McDonalds fries, likely fried in beef tallow. However, the one miss was the beef short rib, which was a bit too fatty.Overall, it was an awesome experience. I would love to bring my wine-loving friends here or use it as a classy spot for business meetings. -

We made reservations weeks ago and got text after text about showing up on time or our credit card would be charged. We showed up 5 minutes early and found out they were closed. They made up for it by giving us a free glass and some snacks. It was amazing and worth the wait -

Fun spot - the wine was great, the chocolate mousse was awesome. Aldo was there and was super friendly, speaking with us for nearly 15 minutes. -
Review 62 (2022-12-30 - Rating: 5)
Nice ambience. We walked in on a Wednesday night and it was pretty busy so we waited at the bar to be seated. The wait was only 15 minutes until we were seated on one of the couches. They have a pretty extensive wine list and the waitress made some great recommendations. We had a bottle of the Bordeaux blend and ordered some truffle fries and cheese to snack on. For our meal, we had the crispy duck with casserole. It wasn’t anything special and it wasn’t really crisp at all. But overall I had a great experience. Service was great and the wine was also a great recommendation made by our server. -
Review 63 (2021-12-19 - Rating: 5)
The staff was incredible and super helpful. Our server even helped us with the notes of the different wines we tried! Excellent place to eat and drink. And an excellent selection of wine. I can’t talk this place up enough! -
Review 64 (2017-08-12 - Rating: 5)
Beautiful space that takes you right out of the hustle of midtown. They have an amazing wine list, the service is incredible and attentive and its the kind of place where you can have a conversation and actually hear it. -
Review 65 (2019-10-21 - Rating: 5)
Put yourself in the hands of the master sommelier and his team. Follow suggested pairings, order what is on the menu (it is made for eating while drinking wine.) Special bottles are always opening here but they do a 9PM pour of something spectacular every night. Pay whatever they are charging for the glass and ask a lot of questions; you’ll get a good story about the wine and a priceless experience. -

Great selection of wines by the glass, and modern, elegant digs.Rare place that’s good for apres work, and just as well for date night or hanging out with friends.Wine aficionados will appreciate the silverware, the pours, the large format bottles, etc. (but the new glasses aren’t nearly as nice as the older ones.. if you had to pick an imperfection!) -

Aldo Sohm Wine Bar is a delightful destination for wine lovers looking for a sophisticated setting to enjoy their favorite wines. Located in Midtown Manhattan, the bar boasts a modern decor. The atmosphere is elegant, relaxed, and welcoming. The bar offers a tasteful collection of high-quality wines from all over the world. The knowledgeable and friendly staff is on hand to help you navigate the wine list, providing recommendations based on your preferences.Despite its proximity and direct relationship with the world-famous restaurant La Bernadine, Aldo Sohm Wine Bar has a different, more relaxed vibe. Its not too loud so that you can enjoy your wine and conversation. However, the bar does get busy, especially during peak hours, so arrive early if you want to secure a spot. The crowd at Aldo Sohm Wine Bar is upscale and refined, creating a pleasant and sophisticated atmosphere. Its an excellent place to unwind after a long day or to enjoy a leisurely evening with friends or colleagues. If Aldo shows up in person, that’s another huge plus to be there. Aldo Sohm is a world-renowned sommelier who, in my book, is second to none.Overall, if youre looking for a chic and stylish place to enjoy an exceptional wine selection, Aldo Sohm Wine Bar is worth a visit. With its big-apple atmosphere, welcoming staff, and top-notch wine selection, this place is an excellent choice for wine lovers and anyone looking for a relaxed and elegant evening out. -

Great wine bar with an amazing list. It clearly takes on the personality of fine dining so a little bit more posh than some other wine bars in NYC but staff is clearly knowledgeable and friendly. Really enjoy their layout of high tables, bar and private room. -

We decided to stop in again for a few bottles of wine and possibly a cheese plate.Due to the holiday weekend it was not to busy, so we were able to get a couple of comfortable seats on the couch. The music was playing and the environment was very relaxing. We ordered a bottle of wine from the same server we have had in the past, she assisted in making some recommendations. We eventually also ordered a cheese plate which consisted of four cheeses, honey, fresh preserves and fresh bread. We ordered a second bottle of wine, they offered to bring more bread as well which we accepted since we still had some of the cheese plate left. The wine list is still quite extensive, they cover the globe and they do have other small plates to choose from. Its always a relaxing environment here, you wont be disappointed.Cheers! -

Nice place. Had some time to kill so stopped in here with some friends. We had a Resling, which was really good. The ambience was good, it was well lit clean. The waitstaff were prompt and helpful. Yes, I would go here again. -

Spent a relaxing couple of hours here pre Broadway show. Beautiful wine by the glass and wonderful french inspired dishes to casually share and enjoy. Particularly enjoyed glasses of the Spanish sparkling rose, with the grilled avocado and crispy duck confit. Friendly, helpful and professional staff. -

Have been here before and it is a great find in New York! The wine selection is a bit on the eclectic side, but the selections are great! Atmosphere is cozy and hip! The service is good and it is a great stop either before or after the theater. I would definitely put it on my return visit list! -

Review 135 (2021-11-11 - Rating: 5)
We had a lovely light evening meal here. Teddy, our server, was wonderful. We asked for help selecting a bottle of wine and he picked a lovely chenin blanc and paired it perfectly with several menu options. He paid very close attention to my dietary restrictions and, when we made an error and selected something from the menu that wouldnt have been safe for me, he caught it before it came to the table and put in the next item we had selected instead. The service was excellent, the environment cozy, and the food and wine were divine. Highly recommend a stop here. -

Great staff. Great wine. They opened few magnums from which we can drink by the glass. They have a bar counter where you could go alone. Many amateur wine people go there. -

Review 141 (2019-11-17 - Rating: 5)
One of few places in Midtown where you can hide from your boss or ruthless touristic crowds. It’s pleasantly quiet and the interior reminds of an airport/hotel bar equally perfect to kill some time or wait for a flight. AS is well recognized among the wine geeks for its nontrivial wine list compiled by their own sommelier Andre. The menu is small, but it’s quality, not quantity. I had several meals, or shall I say small bites, and both eggplants and short ribs were very good, so was the chocolate mousse. -

Review 143 (2018-04-14 - Rating: 5)
By far the best food I had in NYC. So good I went twice in four days. I dont normally drink wine but I figured I was at the best spot in town for it so I went with the servers suggestions. Hit after hit. Ive never had wine like what I had on those nights. The chef, Kris, amazing. Thats all I can say. The food was so well prepared and presented, you could taste the passion. -
Review 144 (2017-10-11 - Rating: 5)
Just what NYC needs, a cool wine spot with magnum pours at 9 and a great lunch deal. Great small plates menu and decor. Of course the staff are knowledgeable, but theyre also fun and approachable. Cant wait to go back again! -
Review 145 (2020-03-03 - Rating: 5)
A small but beautiful room with high ceilings houses a fantastic selection of interesting and well priced list of wines by the glass, as well as a carefully curated bottle selection. The staff is well educated and helpful, and the menu of light bites - especially the charcuterie and cheeses - pairs perfectly with the grapes. Highly recommended. -

Review 147 (2020-02-15 - Rating: 5)
Differently from Le Bernardin, that is actually next door, this place is totally worthy. Aldo Sohm is a genius and wrote what is to be the best book for newbies on wine. I had the amazing opportunity to share some words with him here. The place is well furnished, comfortable, and the wine list plus the appetizers are truly amazing. I would keep returning to this place whenever in NYC. -

Ive had good food, but the food here was AMAZING. Such a lovely, cozy atmosphere. Waitstaff always friendly, helpful, and patient, who were always ready with a food, beer, or wine recommendation. HAVE to come back-date night, girls night out, a long overdue one-on-one with a good friend, whatever. -

Excellent and huge wine menu, with a variety of offerings both by the glass and by the bottle. Curated menu that leans French. Cheese board selected by the chef was excellent. Wonderful place to stop for happy hour or before/after a show. -

One of my favorite places in the city. You can have delicious wine and food, and relax for a while -
Review 153 (2016-12-19 - Rating: 4)
Wine and food are both lights out. The service is another story. Example: forgetting to bring two dishes to the table but of course they didnt forget to put them on the bill. Bush league... Still the wine and food are fantastic. -
Review 154 (2016-09-12 - Rating: 5)
Excellent wine selection in an comfortable living room type environment. The focus is on French wines. There is also a food menu that rivals full restaurants, so you can certainly make this your plan for dinner. I prefer to sit on the couch in the center, but the communal table can be fun too. Get there early since it can get crowded. -
Review 155 (2019-12-24 - Rating: 4)
Quiet and only a moderate hint of pretentiousness (thats good or bad depending on the person). Not a large selection of moderately priced wines (by my standards). But, its their business and business model...not mine. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The jambon was great for a snack. -

Fantastic spot in midtown near times square to get perfectly cooked food, an incredible selection of wines and impeccable service. Pay more reasonable prices to get the skills like you would across the way at Le Bernardin.Warning: finance bros and ladies frequent this spot post work but it clears out around 9 when they go home to Westchester or CT. -

Review 159 (2020-02-02 - Rating: 4)
Just out of the craziness on a quiet sidewalk the wine bar was a perfect stopping off point for us to take a little break and regroup. That also came with the unexpected purchase of wine that was not cheap. By the glass offerings were limited and $20+. Unfortunately for me I really can’t taste the difference but maybe that’s just New York and not necessarily the wine quality. Staff was generally apathetic only coming over to get us going and had to be waived down to bring water and the bill. -
