The vibe is French Bistro. The place is bijoux. Tight. I enjoyed the foie grass but my friends didnt like the crabcake. Wine selection is good. Dessert is good. I like the place and plan to go back.

The food at AOC is spectacular. Easily my favorite Bistro. They serve what is one of my favorite burgers in NYC. Flame cooked to perfection. I have had too many overpriced lame burgers to ever take this one for granted. If you are looking for more than a comforting burger the duck confit and duck breast are worth leveling up for.

Love France? Love Food? Love oysters? Love wine? This is the place to go! Although we had a small issue with the water, that our waitress took care rapidly. Food was AMAZING fresh and delicious! Felt like you could travel to France in one dinner! Would recommend to go and choose the mussels!

  • Review 4 (2024-09-09 - Rating: 5)

I love this bar. It’s my favorite place in the neighborhood. The bartenders Loris, Jerome, and Ayoub are so friendly and welcoming and always recommend the best wines. The food is excellent, especially the escargot and my favorite, the duck magret. Wednesday reggae night is the most fun place to be on the Ues. Jazz on Sundays is also awesome, especially Alfredo’s band. The crowd is always friendly! Highly recommend!

  • Review 5 (2023-08-29 - Rating: 4)

As comfy as a pizza oven in outdoor shed with just one fan on other side. I actually got sunburned. Sliders were tiny but good. 2 for $15 plus credit charge surcharge.

  • Review 6 (2024-06-22 - Rating: 5)

I love this place. I am hesitant to write this review only because I don’t want to share my secret favorite spot but they absolutely deserve the praise and the business. Everyone is so incredibly nice here. They’ve always been accommodating (when I wanted to sit down just for dessert, when my mom visited and she is… very particular) and they are gracious and kind every time. The food is as good as the service. Everything is delicious. I’ve come here only and specifically for the crème brulee. Dinner was delicious.10/10 would recommend

Great moment in a genuine french place where waiters speak french..(and theyre very nice too! ;)We enjoyed big time our stay, from very, very good oysters to a great steak frites béarnaise, with a very nice Bordeaux ... And some waiters even sings ragga muffin...Whats not to love!

  • Review 8 (2024-05-12 - Rating: 5)

Though we are from the neighborhood, never heard of the restaurant. Literately picked it from Google map and made a reservation for two. Rarely been so right in picking restaurants. The menu is small but versatile. We ordered shrimp croquettes and vegetable risotto as starter. Both terrific, especially veg risotto. Trued escargot and was delicious. So was the burger. Ambience is really cute … a narrow area with an elegant wall decor. Our server Kionna was very helpful in recommending the dishes and what’s the restaurant is known for. Now that we know the place, will come back again!

  • Review 9 (2024-09-22 - Rating: 5)

We discovered this place few months ago and it became one of our go to places. Amazing food with true French atmosphere.

  • Review 10 (2024-12-12 - Rating: 5)

A fantastic French restaurant on Manhattans East Side with the added bonus of great Reggae music on Wednesdays! I had the salmon with ratatouille and couscous, and it was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is wonderful—a perfect spot with great food and a great vibe!

  • Review 13 (2023-12-17 - Rating: 5)

Have been here many times the last 6 months. Great food, wine + fair prices. Dont understand the iPads & menus. One or the other- tables too small for 2 giant menus and BRIGHT bulky iPads.

  • Review 14 (2023-06-30 - Rating: 4)

The vegetable risotto was delicious, with just the right amount of truffle. A little pricey for an appetizer, but a lovely spot for a drink

  • Review 15 (2021-12-17 - Rating: 4)

  • Review 17 (2023-02-25 - Rating: 5)

Old-school NYC warm Parisian-inspired bar/ restaurant. Was there early on a Friday at 4pm for drinks at the bar and so happy as many restaurants around the same area werent open yet. Bartender and all were super congenial and attentive. Highly recommend.

  • Review 18 (2023-09-12 - Rating: 4)

Great wine selection and happy hour specials for food

  • Review 19 (2024-01-22 - Rating: 5)

Had dinner here with my Mother and Father last week. chef Romains is doing it right. The ratatouille, potatoes Au gratin, and Cassoulet were delicious.

  • Review 20 (2023-04-24 - Rating: 5)

Good outdoor seating and lots of wines and cocktails. Great calamari to keep you snacking and many other treats plus full entrees. Everyone warm and gracious and no rush to move you. 🥂

  • Review 21 (2021-03-03 - Rating: 5)

Cozy and romantic place to dine. Be mindful of what you order and youll have a great time. The charcuterie, cheese plate and ceviche are regrettably underwhelming. The oysters taste fresh and are well priced. The wine is good, and they are willing to accommodate drinks to your tastes. The best thing was the seafood entree with the fried wrapping from the prix fixe menu. It was phenomenal, and I couldnt get enough of it. I dont think its on the regular menu, but I highly recommend it when it is available.

  • Review 22 (2023-06-16 - Rating: 5)

Has jazz on Sundays; true French dishes; excellent French wines but from other counties too and prices not bad.Full recommend it.

  • Review 23 (2022-09-08 - Rating: 5)

Great French neighborhood spot with eclectic decor. Started with VEGETABLE RISOTTO WITH WHITE TRUFFLE OIL and TUNA TARTARE. Followed by TAGLIATELLES À LA CARBONARA and a Friday special, VEAL CORDON BLEU. The food was delicious, especially the carbonara and risotto. Both were creamy and satisfying. Good service and strong drinks. The veal special was a nice surprise; the meet was nice and tender. Will come back again.

  • Review 24 (2022-07-06 - Rating: 4)

I live nearby and walk by this restaurant all the time. People always seem to be having a good time. I finally stopped by for a quick drink on my way home. The place is nice inside and the wine was delicious. Will go back to try the food.

  • Review 25 (2021-07-09 - Rating: 5)

The food and ambiance are fantastic! Over my couple visits Ive been consistently impressed with seafood and steak dishes, and the atmosphere lends itself well to date night as well as small groups of friends.

  • Review 26 (2018-10-15 - Rating: 4)

Such a romantic wine bar. The live music is perfect and sets the atmosphere off so precisely. I ordered a glass of wine-noticed the glass was dirty mid way through drinking- but it didn’t disrupt the taste of the Syrah. The wine here is great, music is great and good pacing must be as well since it was never crowded but there were no empty tables!

  • Review 27 (2022-10-27 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 29 (2022-02-03 - Rating: 5)

A UES hidden treasure and quite possibly the most romantic restaurant in the neighborhood. And, the food is to die for! Six Stars.

  • Review 30 (2022-02-05 - Rating: 5)

Very good neighborhood spot. They have very good classic French food, a nice wine selection, good service, and a nice atmosphere. The roast chicken and niçoise said were particularly good.

  • Review 31 (2018-10-14 - Rating: 5)

Went here for a light dinner on a Saturday night. The food was very good, and the service was amazing. They constantly came in to check on us, but never rushed us or gave us the check to kick us out. Loved it.

  • Review 32 (2023-03-18 - Rating: 4)

Cute French bistro slash wine bar on UES. Very friendly, familiar atmosphere with laid back servers and bartender with the appropriate French lilt.Great selection of wine (of course) and a menu full of tasty french dishes. Their version of a risotto was incredible and they didnt skimp on the truffle.

  • Review 33 (2023-11-26 - Rating: 4)

Cute spot in the UES for some good wine and French bistro style eats. Simple but tasty.

Rustic and welcoming for a late brunch on a rainy Sunday. Menu options from light to hearty. Try the sweet tea with bourbon.

  • Review 44 (2017-09-05 - Rating: 5)

Great French restaurant to relax and unwind. Amazing seafood, burgers and steaks and a great wine selection. No loud music.

  • Review 45 (2024-03-16 - Rating: 4)

Truly on the mark French bistro style! Great menu choices with generous helpings that dont sacrifice quality for quantity, an appetizers can be a meal! Many points added for serving carbona with an egg yolk to mix in. Old school! Try the vegetable risotto with truffle oil. It is life-affirming. The drink pour is also generous.

  • Review 46 (2021-06-07 - Rating: 4)

This place is a neighborhood gem. Food is delicious, wine pairings are usually spot and the staff is friendly. Sometimes service is slow but probably because they’re always so busy.

  • Review 48 (2024-03-17 - Rating: 4)

Best escargot around, always order it! Walk-in for a casual Sunday night dinner & jazz trio was playing in bar … made for a romantic evening just steps away from our UES apt. Solid French food, everything is delicious & ambiance sweeps you away to classic Parisian bistro.

  • Review 49 (2024-03-30 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 50 (2020-11-12 - Rating: 5)

One of my fave neighborhood spots for good food, drinks & atmosphere. We come here all the time!

  • Review 51 (2017-07-10 - Rating: 5)

LOVE IT! Great happy hour $1 Oyster. On a hot day, it was still fresh, creamy and tasty. I went on French Restaurant week so our prix fixe meal was only $17.89 includes a glass of wine and an entree. I had cab and 6oz hanger steak with string beans and my favorite sliced potatoes with melted cheese on top. This reminds of Le Juliette restaurant in Paris. My server Jerome was very attentive and very hardworking running around to make sure all the customers were served in a timely fashion while the other servers were barely there. One only said goodbye when we were leaving. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and Im looking forward to go back again!

Delicious food, friendly service, cozy environment

  • Review 56 (2021-05-12 - Rating: 4)

We Stumbled into this restaurant. Was really craving for raw oyster. Due to covid bar $1 oyster deal is off, only $2/ oyster is offered. We had half dozen, very fresh and clean. Ordered Brussel sprout, mushroom spinach risotto and mix match 3 sliders with white wine. Foie gras flan is not Available, bummer, will revisit next time to try. Risotto is so amazingly good, sliders were made to perfection. Beef sliders got sour pickles and Mayo, juicy and tender. Fried oyster slider paired with pickled onion and tartar sauce, seared tuna matches with mashed avocado. Everything was simple but balanced well in taste palette. Well French really know their sauce, even reflects in this American tavern dish. I will definitely come back for pasta and duck confit in the near future.

  • Review 62 (2024-03-02 - Rating: 5)

I used to go here a lot before Covid when their prices were good and the manager didn’t yell at me. Then they raised prices and the manager got yelly. Would love to return when that guy goes away. Great place great concept. They have music… idk when. Probably good. I miss their mussels.

  • Review 63 (2023-05-20 - Rating: 5)

This a always a really lovely place. The food is great and its options are ideal for a light evening bite or such. For me, this place has been great because I come here with some of my favorite people. So thats my honest recommendation, this is a great place to come with people you love and whose company you enjoy. The food is tasty and you can manage with small bites and drinks. They dont necessarily have an expansive liquor selection but they cover wines fairly well so youll never go thirsty. And as with all good restaurants, the service makes them stand out.

  • Review 64 (2023-10-04 - Rating: 5)

Love this place- a neighborhood gem! Definitely get the cheese plate and you will not be disappointed. I always do chefs choice.

  • Review 65 (2024-02-04 - Rating: 5)

An upper east side institution. Full of colorful regulars, thick French accents and a lively playlist that encourages the good vibes. A bar stocked with not only Gin but a beautiful and value driven selection of wines by the glass and bottle. The menu does not disappoint - try a tray of local oysters with a sidecar of merguez or their foie Gras terrine served the only way it should be, with toasted baguette and a well dressed salad. Live music on Wednesdays livens up the middle of the week and barrels repurposed as tables are a perfect summer happy hour destination. And dont forget the chocolate mousse.

This is the new location of the old AOC in the village neighborhood. Its run by the same chef owner, so the French-inspired menu is still really good. I recommend the duck confit.

A friend had a birthday party there. They served appetizers out side in the covers seating area. We had fried calamari, French fries, grilled sausage meat and cheese tray and veggie dip. All were very good. Service was good too.Every one enjoyed.

  • Review 78 (2021-10-22 - Rating: 5)

Cozy little wine bar on the avenue, complete with an outdoor structure in the road plus sidewalk seating at wine barrels. Ive also sat indoors in the past at the bar. This weekend afternoon we revisited for a relaxing hour or so of people-watching; sadly, no food was to be had though the plates ferried by regularly looked delicious. Friendly servers, reasonable wine prices, and while it is never empty, theres typically available seating for 2 or 4. Great people watching, and no rush to order and reorder while you linger over a glass.

  • Review 79 (2023-04-30 - Rating: 5)

This is a charming, friendly neighborhood French bistro that captures and revives the atmosphere of the restaurants West Village origins. Granted, the UES was never hip, but it used to have a lot more locally owned eateries like this one. We need more people up here like Chef Romain Bonnans! Merci bien, Chef!

  • Review 80 (2022-05-06 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 85 (2023-04-01 - Rating: 5)

Wonderful Food and atmosphere. Had a lovely time there

  • Review 86 (2021-07-17 - Rating: 5)

We came here many months ago, and Ive been dreaming about the risotto since.I have tried to make my own risotto, but it doesnt come close to AOCs. Theirs is the perfect golden ratio of mushroom, rice, and cheese. We also got the ratatouille which was very yummy and the croquettes and oysters (we decided to share a few tapas instead of going with the mains). The ambience of this place reminds me of a Parisian cafe. Its dimly lit and swanky. I love the map on the ceiling. Lots of cool decor to stare at while you wait for your food.

  • Review 98 (2017-06-11 - Rating: 4)

Its quaint and cute restaurant. Service isnt overbearing and its not too hard to flag down someone when you need something. There are lots of small plate options and they are delicious. The sausages were flavorful and the perfect snap. The fries were salty and crunchy. The kale salad is a common item on many restaurants but this one had a bit of everything. It was a nice blend of the different components and crunch from the pine nuts. The duck confit was so tender but still had nice crispy skin. Its definitely a staple and a good choice for the neighborhood.

My fav neighborhood restaurant for the food and service

  • Review 102 (2017-08-20 - Rating: 5)

This is my favorite French restaurant in the UES and perhaps the city. Both the quality and variety of food offered at A.O.C. can easily compete with French cuisine offered at other three and four star restaurants. Im amazed at how consistently they are able to offer exceptionally prepared meals - for both brunch and dinner - every time I dine here. Their chefs take great care in selecting extremely fresh ingredients for dishes that are expertly prepared. The portions are also quite generous.Skip the one-hour-wait-downtown-brunch nonsense and eat food prepared by people that know how to cook.

  • Review 103 (2021-11-11 - Rating: 5)

Amazing service, drinks, food & atmosphere. Definitely a neighborhood gem. This has to be THE place to visit on the UES.

  • Review 108 (2020-10-15 - Rating: 5)

Great food & Lovely ambiance. Nice staff and large wine collection. I love this spot

  • Review 109 (2019-11-19 - Rating: 5)

Weve been coming here since they opened. The French menu is modern and very tasty, with generous portions. (Typical brasserie choices, like steak au frites, couscous, salmon, etc.) Desserts are also pretty typical but well-made. The wine list is wonderful! Theres a bottle for every budget. The staff are helpful and hard-working. We like the jovial atmosphere, always busy and bustling. People enjoy lingering here.

Wonderful local spot where you are treated like family, served well prepared French cuisine and great wine -- like great wine.Come for the wine, stay for the food, and top it off with a last glass of Sauternes.

Pleasant surroundings and service. A good bistro. A varying wine list. We ordered a French Rose of Malbec.... very good. The charcuterie as an appetizer is varied and a delicious opener. My wife had union soup and enjoyed it. Dollar oysters at the bar at the cocktail hour. The main course choices are adequate, not excessive. Good choice of specials.

AOC East is a nice place for dinner, came here on a Friday night without reservation and it was easy to find seats. There are few tables but they have a long bar with tall chairs. This restaurant is a bit pricey considering the plates are small and quality is okay but I just went for a glass of wine and some small bites, so I would need to try more things on the menu to make a better judgment. They have tablets with the menu so you can see pictures and descriptions of each item.First I ordered a glass of BEAUJOLAIS which I quite liked, light body and fruity, good for some appetizers. Then, I ordered the FOIE GRAS TERRINE that comes with a little salad, and a little piece of toasted bread. The flavor of the foie gras was actually quite good and the portion is big, they could just give more bread since the amount of foie gras is actually bigger. The RATATOUILLE was a bit dissapointing, it needed more flavor and was a bit small. It comes with some Crostini to pair.SPANISH:AOC East is a good place to dine, I came here on a Friday night without a reservation and it was easy to find seats. Warm welcome by one of the owners. We had mussels and fries! Very good and fleshy. Very good wine, Sancerre. Good advice from the boss. The only downside is the cold creme brulee! And without vanilla! Price: we are in New York.
