Great stand up wine bar & divine bites.... With the smallest possible kitchen and the big great possible flavors! It get crowded fast, so expect a shoulder to shoulder experience. -

Love this spot. absolute whole in the wall. not very many seats - stand at the bar with some wine and tapas. can also sit outside if you’re luck enough to get a spot in the summer. great wine and cheese board is okay. would need to go back to get the food. pretty affordable by my standards and hard to beat the vibe. great for a date, solo dinner or quick catch up with some friends. -

Wow! This is my new favorite place in nyc. Amazing food with fresh specials. Intimate ambience. The staff are beyond friendly and the owner even spent time chatting with us when the place was absolutely packed on a Monday. The wine list is so fun, my only regret is i didn’t make it in time for the happy hour. Oh well, I’ll be back soon LOL.Do NOT skip the carpaccio and the chicken skewer. -
Review 4 (2025-01-03 - Rating: 5)
Thick cut brisket was delicious, fall apart soft with crisp flavorful edges. Came with pickled onions, jalapeno, pickle, and buttered toast. Brought out a little dessert we didnt pay for. I also got the cole slaw which was more sweet than vinegary. The sauces are incredible and unique. -

Have been here many times over the years. One of the easiest 5-stars to give. Highly recommend. Italian small plates in standing wine bar, manned by Japanese guys listening to ska or some other tasteful, eclectic music. Food is phenomenal. Recommend skirt steak and scallop carpaccio in particular. Staff is great! Drinks, space, aesthetic, and vibe are all great! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 -

Great tapas and wine. Is a fusion of tapas. I went on Saturday night and enjoy Manny delicacies prosciutto with figs, cheese platter, beet salad and shrimps all tasty and affordable. Service was pleasant. Small be ready to eat standing up, place is packed. Nice decor, servers are pleasant. -
Review 7 (2018-07-26 - Rating: 5)
Small plates and wine. A hole in the wall ( no seats, all standing only) with great food. The skirt steak was amazing. So good, I had 2 servings. The octopus salad and raw scallops were also very good. -
Review 8 (2024-07-17 - Rating: 5)
Without exaggerating, my favorite bar in Manhattan. The wine is good and well-priced, and the dishes are prepared right before your eyes by the chef. The ambiance is great, and you rarely leave without having chatted with your neighbors. -
Review 9 (2024-06-13 - Rating: 5)
The food is amazing! Must try Chicken liver pate and sea scallops -
Review 10 (2019-03-07 - Rating: 5)
Great standing bar. Can get very busy so get there early before 6pm to get a spot. Nice little and delicious plates to share with a friend, had about 3 - 4 plates and 2 drinks which came to about $65 plus tip. We got here around 5:30pm on a Friday and it was quiet. It got busy about 6:30pm so it was our cue to move on. -
Review 11 (2024-05-26 - Rating: 5)
Bar B is a small little establishment with highly limited seating, but if you can grab a table the experience is fantastic. A good selection of affordable wines and decent food to pair. The staff are all wonderful and care about providing quality products and good service. I will call out on Google this comes out as a Cocktail bar, but its really a wine lounge.I ordered the Chicken Skewers and a Chianti wine. Not something Id normally pair, but oddly was fantastic. The skewers were moist and delicious. They were placed on top of a mini baguette slice that soaked in the juices for additional flavor. The Chianti was mild and easy on the palette. The wine was easy to drink and perfect for the day. I was able to get one of the two tables outside to truly enjoy the experience. By the time I left the bar was full of people standing.Overall great place and would recommend going to if you get the opportunity. -
Review 12 (2024-09-24 - Rating: 5)
Bar space and outside seating is both very limited, but it is definitely worth it. We snagged a table during happy hour and enjoyed the pretty affordable and fantastic wine -
Review 13 (2024-06-18 - Rating: 5)
Bar B is an absolute gem that I cant get enough of. Theres something special about places where the owners are always present—you can just feel the love, consistent quality, and genuine, sincere energy. Its become my close friends and my go-to spot for our monthly dinners. Highly recommend! -

One of the best wine bars in New York! Incredible food, reminds me of Tokyo Izakayas. -
Review 15 (2024-11-02 - Rating: 5)

Review 16 (2021-10-27 - Rating: 5)
Cute, compact wine and tapas bar- had a fun happy hour here. Plus, the staff are Japanese! Felt like an authentic Italian place you would find in Japan if that makes sense. -
Review 17 (2024-04-27 - Rating: 5)
I had no idea about Bar B until a friendly guy sitting next to me on a flight from BKK told me about it. I was intrigued that it was an Italian-inspired standing bar with a Japanese owner.I’d been to Basta Pasta over the years, but had no idea they had a bar—when you look carefully, the “b” is actually the same exact font.I finally came here this week with a friend and we absolutely loved it. It’s a small place and when we arrived past 6pm, it was already full. But the staff was able to set up a table for us outside. We ordered:- Sea Scallops Carpaccio ($13+)- Chicken Skewers ($13+)- Penne Amatriciana ($16+)- Crème Brûlée ($11+)Everything we ordered was delicious and I would recommend them all.Drinks, they have happy hour until 7pm, which was great—especially since it includes prosecco for $8+.There was a consistent flow of people, with a line outside at times. It was a chilly evening and got so cold we asked to go inside once a space opened up.The staff was attentive and very helpful. It’s a small place and may be hard to get in, but I will be back for sure, to try more of their delicious dishes. -
Review 18 (2023-09-17 - Rating: 5)
I love the vibe of this tiny standing wine bar. It reminds me of a traditional Japanese izakaya. You dont get much cozy neighborhood bars in Manhattan anymore, especially not in Chelsea, which is flooded with trendy cocktail bars serving $20 pre-tax/tip cocktails. Somehow the food served manages to be simply delicious as well. And no, thats not the wine talking.1. WHITE ANCHOVY (marinated in vinegar + sicillian olives) $72. GRILLED CALAMARI (sauteed kale, bottarga) $163. GRILLED BRANZINO (shredded carrots, celery, onion dressing) $174. PENNE AMATRICIANA (applewood smoked bacon, onion, parmesan, tomato sauce) $16 -
Review 19 (2022-09-27 - Rating: 5)
The steak was great and the Sicilian white wine. Try the calamari as well. -
Review 20 (2024-09-02 - Rating: 4)
We had some time to kill so were looking for a happy hour to fill the time. This spot is fascinating. For one, there are no seats. You order at the bar, watch them cook at the bar, and stand at the bar for the entirety of your experience (there are some outdoor tablets if youre so inclined, to be fair, about 2-3 tables). The happy hour isnt great: there is $1 off the red wine of choice (chianti, which we did not particularly enjoy) and the white wine of choice (the white). The menu is all over the place from a cheese plate to full steak ($19?). Dont think there are any food happy hour options. I would be interested in trying more of the food menu. But in terms of coming here for a happy hour drink, not doing yourself any favors.I will say though, that the decor is awesome. The walls and ceiling are adorned with corks in various shapes and designs (seriously, look up). Theyre doing a lot with the space they exist in but probably wouldnt need to come back. -
Review 21 (2022-06-21 - Rating: 5)
A favorite gem in the city. Delicious small plates and lovely staff and owner. The scallop carpaccio and marinated skirt steak are our go-to and then we love trying anything else they have on the menu. Note that it’s a place where you eat while standing at their bar (although they do now have some tables outside). We love the atmosphere and the food ✨ -
Review 22 (2024-01-29 - Rating: 5)
Amazing staff and delicious bites. The wine selection has something for every taste. Love this cozy, little gem. -
Review 23 (2024-11-16 - Rating: 5)
Ok, so you have to stand and the menu is limited, which tells you how good the food and service are that they stay steadily busy. They are very Japanese in the approach to Italian food. Also the bathroom had a fun macgyvered water/light feature that I just love. -
Review 24 (2020-11-20 - Rating: 5)
Great food and excellent service. Had several appetizers that hit the spot. Great restaurant in lower Manhattan. -
Review 25 (2019-05-18 - Rating: 5)
I almost missed this hole-in-the-wall, no seats just standing, smaller portions but ALL the flavor wine bar/fast Italian joint. Its hip, its tasty, its good wine. The host was very friendly and saw a spark of joy when he successfully recommended good wines. I had some spritey fun. Im down with this concept. They should do a series with other type of foods like Korean, French, etc... -

Review 31 (2019-05-19 - Rating: 5)
What a special little place! I was running late for a date with my husband so he suggested we skip our original dinner plans and meet at Bar B for a quick bite before heading to a show. I didnt have a chance to look it up first, just got the address and headed over. I walked in and the hosts (owners?) greeted me cheerfully and enthusiastically... while I peered toward the end of the bar looking for the rest of the place. Lol I quickly got up to speed and took a spot at the far end (which isnt very far) and ordered a rosé and waited for my husband. Lovely wine and tasty dishes. There are no stools so you stand and eat and drink, but it works! This little place is so charming and the hosts so engaging, I feel so lucky to have found this place! I only wish I lived in the neighborhood so I could become a regular. -
Review 32 (2017-05-24 - Rating: 5)
There should be more places like this, you the see the whole kitchen and all the staff members, its standing but that makes it even better, can move your hips whilst you eat! -

The food here is delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. The fusilli with sea bass ragu was particularly excellent. If I recall, theres no sign above the door, so you can easily miss Bar B if youre not looking for it. -

Loves this tiny little place! Somehow snagged 2 spots on a Friday evening - the place is essentially standing only inside at the bar (can fit ~20 people max). They had a nice selection of wine, a couple cocktail options and a nice Italian forward menu from pasta, burrata, beet salad, to lemon panacotta. There were a couple tables outside but uncovered from the elements in case weather is bad.Would absolutely go back. -

My Experience:The owner, Toshi-San, is very attentive and professional. They only have one type of sake but it’s very smooth and the best I’ve had in my limited experience. I tried the Scallop Carpaccio and it was impressively appetizing. The chef, Hiroshi-San, was always smiling which was pretty funny. The bar got fairly busy while I was there but the staff was very positive and pleasant when watching their interactions behind the bar. The crowd seemed to consist of mostly return customers and regulars. Everyone had great things to say about the bar which is nice to see for a change. The bartender, Kat, apparently aka “Katto-Chan -

Excellent place to slide into. I walked by one day and was immediately compelled, so I figured Id remember it and come back. One rainy night I happened to be walking around Chelsea with a small group and Bar B was the perfect spot for a bit of refuge. Small menu of wine and food (thrown together on their quaint but robust range behind the bar), but very reasonable prices and very reasonable quality (happy hour $5 for a nice glass of Sangiovese?! Im sold). With low light, ecclectic tunes, and subway tiles, there isnt much not to like. Very easy to slip into conversation (or your glass), which is exactly the point. -

I’d wanted to check out Bar B forever, but had always found its tiny, narrow confines filled to capacity. On a cold night, a friend and I finally got in and we had one of those fantastic “only in NYC” unexpected experiences, an awesome way to start the new year.First, Bar B reminds me of the intimate little chef-run spots you find while wandering through narrow backstreets of Barcelona, Lisbon, or Tokyo. Second, the staff is fantastic: warm, attentive, and fun. The vibes are impeccable. Third, the food and drink are terrific and fairly priced. We had aperitivo spritzes to drink and sampled everything from the yummy potato salad to the juicy chicken skewers to an awesome daily special of shrimp and mushrooms in a lick-your-fingers-good garlic sauce. We topped it off with a seasonally perfect chestnut crème brûlée.We had lively, cheerful new year conversations with neighbors at the bar and Bar B drew us all together, whether originally from Japan, Jamaica, Georgia (the country), Ghana, or Maine, but all now New Yorkers. A lovely night out to start the year. Highly recommend. -

I was a regular visitor 7 years ago, but its been a long time since I last went. Jimmy was still there and the food was all delicious. In particular, the potato salad felt more delicious because of the added memories. Thank you for staying with me for a long time and I hope your business continues to prosper. Im just thankful that it was such a happy evening. -

Peculiar place where you can have a beer and dine on Asian-type food where the kitchen is in the same visible bar. -

Its a very nice little place where you can snack, eat and drink standing alongside the small bar.And what’s more, it’s good! Nice address for a quiet break. -
