We were absolutely shocked with how excellent of a time we had tonight at Bird in Hand. Our waitress Jess was positive, welcoming, and incredibly helpful navigating the menu. We were taken care of by Maggie at the bar who made our drinks custom and with great attention to detail. The vegan options on the menu were filling and delicious. The whole staff was relaxed and joyful, which is exactly what you want to see after a long day at work. We felt honestly at home. Bravo to the whole staff! We will certainly be back regularly.

Came here for a dinner with a group. We had a reservation and were only limited to the late-night menu. The fried chicken BLT sandwich was good and the wings tasted like regular wings. The hostess was super nice and the drinks were good. Is a good location to go on a date, small group, and maybe a work dinner as well. However, I wish there were more enticing options and the food stood out more. I do like the farm-to-table idea behind their every meal, but if that doesnt matter to you, you will probably not be impressed.

Love this place! French toast is amazing and so are the pancakes. I would recommend not getting the shrimp & grits. Tastes too oily. But otherwise I haven’t had a bad thing on the menu. The deviled eggs are good too. Every time go, the staff is very attentive and when my friend’s French toast was overcooked they removed it from the bill without hassle. The mimosas are great too.

This place is absolutely everything I want in a bar. The vibe is great - fun decor, TVs but not sports bar-y, great music, pool table, etc. Drinks were fantastic - both cocktails and beer selection. Service is solid, staff know what theyre talking about. But the food is the real star. They truly nailed some vegan dishes to a point that makes me angry at other restaurants for not taking so much care with their options for dietary restrictions. Vegan Caesar was insane. Fried maitake chicken and collard greens almost made me cry it was so good.Ill be back. Obviously.

My husband and I have been 2 or 3 times now and it’s now one of our favorite uptown places. The service is terrific. The food is consistently great. But the big appeal is the atmosphere: you can actually hear yourselves and hold conversations while still enjoying good music at humane decibel levels. Please don’t change this- there are so few places of your caliber and price range that allow friends & family to visit without screaming. Bravo!

Good luck to anyone within the walkable radius to match this! My sister recommended them, so I tried it out. Hospitality, promptness, & TASTE/TEXTURE quality all far-exceeded expectations. My meal was perfectly prepped & served. Dosing with a little hot sauce as offered was my extra ticket to match my hometown profile ;). Bartender Maggie & server Jess were over-the-top!

Amazing food. Great atmosphere. You would never know this used to be a pharmacy. Amazing drink and beer selection, eventually 12 local taps. Date spot for sure, no TVs. Great owners. Lounge area with two couches, one big table for a 8 top maybe, and maybe 8-10 2 tops outside of the 15 or so spots at the bar. Owners have awesome plans for the expansion of hours and menu. Already a home run two weeks in.

Ive been curious about this spot opening up and had the chance to check it out during their soft launch opening. The space is super cute with lots of natural lighting. They have excellent deals on classic cocktails, wine, and beer for their late night happy hour. I will definitely go back to try the food. This place has their stuff together. I loved their food and the vibes in the restaurant were fantastic. I ate and spent the rest of the night buying affordable wine (by the bottle!) and playing pool with my friends BUT… the best part was my server, Kevin. This man was genuine, attentive, personable, and a great host. My glass was never empty. 10/10 would come back and sit in Kevin’s section.

While it’s wonderful to have a late night option for dining in my neighborhood, I just wish they had better food options. If you want a super heavy, deep fried everything, you’ll love it here! As a pescatarian, there’s not much to choose from. The jackfruit sandwich was just okay. I wouldn’t order it again. However, the grilled vegan romain Caesar is FANTASTIC!! I will definitely return for that; perhaps not when hungry for a whole meal. My fella enjoyed the grilled cheese with mushrooms. (Unfortunately, I don’t care for mushrooms; it did look good.) He didn’t love his chicken sandwich, said the chicken was mediocre, but really liked the deviled eggs. If only there were more, healthier options available. Based on the salad, I know they have the talent to cook up something good without having to fry the living daylights out of it:) The service was great. The music and vibe were awesome!

Pool table and future live music in the back section; an amazing space for either a group or a date night. The reason I go here is to play the pool table at the back. I have celiac disease so I cant speak to the quality of the food due to the risk Id face eating here from cross contamination. The drinks are a bit overpriced, especially when compared to other options for cocktails in the area. An off the menu cocktail, to my recollection, is around 17 dollars on average here, which compared to the quality and presentation you find at a cocktail focused bar like ROKC in the neighborhood leaves a little to be desired. ROKC is a below street level space that has low occupancy space available, so taking into account the square feet of Bird in Hand, plus the high cost of rent for corner commercial real estate premiums, I understand the necessity for the business owner to price their drinks that way.Even for someone like me who cannot eat the food here, there is a lot on offer here that the premium on drinks covers. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. It reminds me of a classy new Orleans piano lounge. The pool table is free to play, and the patrons tend to be more casual. I dont find sharks monopolizing the table here. Other patrons dont expect you to outplay them one on one to be able to play the next game with your friends or acquaintances you meet there. I only wish the table was available earlier in the day. (They may have changed this policy, but to my knowledge, the table is only available for play after dinner service has ended). Regardless, I would recommend this space to anyone looking for a fancier dining and drinking experience in this neighborhood, who have above average spending power for such an outing. I love the piano at the back of the bar. Im not sure what it is being used for by the establishment, if anything at the moment. It is very out of tune so would need a little love, but as the vibe of the bar lends itself to it, it would be a cool addition if they dont already, to have new Orleans style jazz nights here, using the pool table area as a stage. @owner if you already have jazz nights please let me know and Id be excited to attend and maybe join in on the keys!Id give only 4/5 Stars due to the price if I didnt understand what I think is the reasoning behind it.The staff were very considerate and the bartenders even bring your drinks to you after service hours when they are able, so that you can return to your table, or pool game, without having to wait.

I live in the neighborhood and all the restaurants in this street have loud music during the week which imposes a lack of conversation and chilling out when you’re having a drink or an appetizer and a restaurant and restaurants now unfortunately have loud music and it makes you feel stressed and uncomfortable not being able to enjoy yourself having a drink and listening to your thoughts. So I’ve discovered this is a place if you want to chill out atmosphere with great drinks, a great bartender and the music is out of lab where you can actually have a conversation not only with the service staff but with other people next year, so I recommend it’s not only for happy hour during the week and such.

This place has the best breakfast, EVER! I lived in Harlem most of my life. I had breakfast, in most of these new places on Broadway. This place is the best of the best! Bird in Hand is an excellent addition to the neighborhood. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming with friendly bartenders and servers and a largely local crowd. The food is excellent. I particularly enjoyed the vegan friend chicken (which is a mushroom dish) and Im far from vegan. The cocktails really shine here, their rotation of specialty cocktails are all delicious. It isnt usually on the menu, but the espresso martini is one of the best in the city.

I went there a couple of times and the food was mostly good (not too great of a steak experience). But just last weekend I discovered the best pancakes I have EVER had (and I’ve had a lot of pancakes in my life). Delicious!
