Bobo is one of those places that when you walk in you just feel warm. Each floor has its own particular vibe, and they all seem lovely. We sat in the greenhouse, and from my seat I had a view of the main dining room. The food is delicious, the cocktails are yummy. The burger is a great choice, the tuna was cooked perfectly. Next time we are in the area we will eat here again.

I was very surprised by how nice this place is! The interior of the restaurant is very welcoming and the outdoor patio in the back is so cool. They have some great happy hour deals as well. The food was tasty. Tuna was delicious and the salad it’s bedded on was just as good. The chicken had a very good sauce on top of it and was juicy. Drinks were priced reasonably especially for the area. Service was pretty good too. Our party had mixed reviews of the place, but I really enjoyed my experience.Recommend this place if you like French food and are in the area.

So happy we came here. The Bloody Mary was spicy and refreshing. The eggs Benedict was one of the best I’ve ever had. Hollandaise sauce was delicious, eggs were poached to perfection and the ham was unlike most places and was thin and truly superb. Fantastic service and cozy atmosphere

Stopped in for a late brunch. Nice old building in the west village, below street level. The front room has a low ceiling and we were close to a large table that overpowered the room with loud talking. I imagine that on a busy weekend evening it must be difficult to have a conversation in that room. We had a pleasant server who was working hard but it took a while for us to get our orders. The brunch was very tasty.

Fav restaurant week deal. great atmosphere and balanced flavours with each dish. $30 dinner can’t be beat with a wine pairing too. fantastic experience and such a cute building where seating just never ends. great vibe, good service and fantastic food. you would regret it if you didn’t go, especially during restaurant week.

  • Review 6 (2024-12-10 - Rating: 5)

So delicious and such a cute cozy little spot. I plan to add this to my restaurant rotation for when I have people visiting town!

  • Review 7 (2024-12-23 - Rating: 5)

Such a charming little establishment nestled in the heart of Greenwich Village. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, the service is great, and the food is outstanding, from the appetizers to the entrees. Definitely would recommend this place, and I myself will be returning as soon as I have the chance

  • Review 8 (2024-11-16 - Rating: 4)

First time, great meal, but 4 stars on food overall because of portion size of my entree. We had scallops over risotto and the scallops appeared to be cut in half to be a medallion instead of a full scallop. I estimate the protein on the plate at maybe 3 oz? Maybe give more risotto? Very tasty but those of us that ordered that dish (at the recommendation of our super nice and professional waiter) left hungry.

  • Review 9 (2024-01-13 - Rating: 5)

A beautiful space with delicious food. We went for brunch and everything was done to a very high quality. The coquettes were a highlight, the pastries were extra warm and flaky, and the eggs were perfectly poached. Can’t ask for anything more than that from a french brunch spot.

  • Review 10 (2024-05-23 - Rating: 4)

Good spot for dinner with a nice wine and liquor selection. Cocktails were okay -- we finished 2/4 cocktail orders and left the other 2.I recommend the protein mains. Pasta doesnt seem to be fresh. Prices were fair except for the desserts, which were mediocre and quite expensive for the quality.Service was very fast and people were nice. Would drop by again for a drink and a few plates.

  • Review 11 (2023-11-28 - Rating: 5)

I had only ever been here previously for drinks but finally had dinner. Everything was 10/10. The truffle croquettes, the artichoke app, the chicken and filet were all beyond expectations, the kitchen staff really knows how to make mouthwatering food. Our waiter/bartender made us excellent drinks; he and the entire staff was accommodating in a way you don’t see much anymore. To say my husband and I were incredibly impressed is an understatement. We told every single person we saw that night after dinner how top tier Bobo is.

  • Review 12 (2021-08-04 - Rating: 5)

First time here really because it was the same name as my pup who passed away. I didn’t know what to expect on food or interior, we didn’t even look it up lol. We had early reservations which is my favorite so it’s not too packed. The staff is well trained you can tell they work well as a team and they were hospitable without over doing it. The interior is beautiful French country you literally feel like you’re there. A good selection of wines I appreciate that even the ones by the glass although I don’t drink anymore I know my wine. The menu now is small but I love that because you know the kitchen will have it down packed. The one thing is I asked for medium rare and got it a little too over cooked for my liking but the flavors made up for it I didn’t make a fuss. I’m excited to try brunch next time with my sister. Juan our server was a pleasure.

  • Review 13 (2022-10-03 - Rating: 5)

Food was absolutely incredible, traditional french flavours but still elements of unexpected. The restaurant is in over many floors in a townhouse and the ambiance is 100% what youd hope it is: dim lit, calm, cozy with the perfect sound level for a nice dinner and a glass of wine Service is perfect although a bit on the faster end. Definitely coming back very soon!

  • Review 14 (2023-09-26 - Rating: 5)

What a gem! Super vibe at this old townhouse turned French restaurant that feels so comfy & cozy. Excellent service and delicious French fare. Can’t wait to return. We shared the beet chips, octopus, artichokes & frites to start and then swooned over the filet, tuna & chicken. All fabulous. But the chocolate lava cake stole our hearts along with the lemon tart too! Great place.

Devine doesn’t begin to describe it.I took my fiancé here for his birthday—it turned out to be a gift for both of us.Service: 5/5Atmosphere: 5/5Food: 5/5This place legitimately shocked us. Beyond the facts that it was cute and the service was superb—every dish set a new level. We started with the truffle croquettes. I am not kidding when I say these were the best croquettes I have ever tasted—including the ones I’ve had in Spain and France.Next up was the “Parisian Gnocchi”—this was so good, to the point that my partner (a very picky foodie) called it “easily one of the top 5 dishes I’ve ever had.”Finally for the entrée, we both had the steak au poivre, medium-rare. This was hands down one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Not only was the temperature and seasoning perfect, but the quality of the meat was impeccable—not a single piece of fat to be seen. And, to top it off, the restaurant threw in a complementary chocolate moose with a candle for my partner’s birthday. Like everything else here, it was out of this world. At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, after one meal here, this easily shot up to be in my top 3 of NYC eateries. If you’re thinking about booking, don’t hesitate, hit that reserve button and prepare for one of the best meals of your life.

  • Review 16 (2024-10-12 - Rating: 4)

Bobo is such a cute brunch spot. It’s located inside a townhouse with a beautiful dining room, outdoor terrace and a dimly lit den below street level. The den may be nice for dinner or even by the windows, but we were seated in the back away from the sunlight on a gorgeous day out. If you’re looking to enjoy the beautiful weather, I’d recommend sitting in the dining room or outdoor terrace.I tried the avocado toast, which was simple with nice flavor from the sunflower seeds and a side of greens. I’m looking forward to trying more dishes next time.

  • Review 17 (2023-05-26 - Rating: 5)

A very cute restaurant located conveniently right by the subway station that serves amazing French food.We were seated on the back deck that was very private and a great place to host a party. The epic margarita was phenomenal and was a great way to start the meal off.For starters everyone got a nice salad accompanied by the grilled octopus and crispy artichoke. Both were very good and really showcases the amazing ingredients. For mains we had a choice of Parisian Gnocchi, Roasted Amish Chicken, or Filet au Poivre. I went with the steak and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. There were also spectacular pommes frites and roasted Brussels sprouts that accompanied as a side.To finish we had a lemon tart and chocolate moose. Both was amazing. I also had an espresso martini to cap every thing off. Let me tell you that that was the best espresso martini I’ve ever had.On top of all that amazing food we had amazing service. Highly recommend checking this place out!

  • Review 18 (2019-09-29 - Rating: 5)

Relatively small portion, which I didn’t mind at all because I can’t eat much. Tastes heavenly!!! The waiter was funny too and made our days better. Another plus side is that even though we went during Saturday brunch time, it wasn’t packed so you won’t have to try to have a conversation with a lot of noise around. Overall an ideal brunch place!

  • Review 19 (2022-06-12 - Rating: 5)

Excellent spot - great food, service, wine. We started with a cheese plate and the gem salad (so good), then had the chicken and steak au poivre. The restaurant is very beautiful, located in an old townhouse and Bobo has a solid happy hour everyday at 5 downstairs.

  • Review 20 (2024-07-26 - Rating: 4)

Maybe French food isn’t my thing. Place is beautiful. Great service & everything else

  • Review 21 (2024-06-06 - Rating: 5)

Branzino, gnocchi, and chicken were all amazing, but the portions were on the smaller side for the branzino and gnocchi. Truffle croquettes were great as well. Oysters were good but nothing to write home about, saw theyre $2 each during happy hour though which seems like a great price

  • Review 22 (2024-12-15 - Rating: 4)

I went here with a large group. The happy hour specials are very good - you can’t beat the margarita and oysters. Appetizers are very nice for sharing. There were only a few vegetarian options but they were on the menu. I’d probably skip the beet chips. The Caeser salad is less traditional. The tuna salad had very high quality tuna. All the pasta dishes were very good and the staff were decently friendly about removing some items. The steak aux poivre is very well prepared and caked in pepper. The environment is very cute but can be very drafty in the winter. The desserts were very pretty, but underwhelming after such delicious shareables and entrees. I’d go back with friends or as a date night.

  • Review 23 (2022-12-23 - Rating: 5)

Fantastic little gem of a restaurant, always consistently delicious food. The mushrooms and gnocchi were standouts, as were the almond/pear dessert. In between, the hanger steak, meatballs, and hot cider (try yours with a shot of whiskey) were all great. The Bryant Park location serves up just as delicious food, and atmosphere.

  • Review 24 (2024-08-17 - Rating: 5)

I visited Bobo for the first time this week with friends to grab a drink while in the West Village, and let me tell you - I am obsessed with this place!! Inside, the atmosphere is incredible, as its so cozy + intimate. Sara took such great care of us at the bar!! I tried their Épice Margarita and it did not disappoint (and I know everyone in our group each loved their cocktail). This is a great spot, Im so looking forward to coming back for a full sit-down!! :-)

  • Review 25 (2024-09-03 - Rating: 5)

The food, service, and atmosphere were good! The server was very nice and we enjoyed the food a lot. The chicken I had was very tender and good. The shrimp risotto could be cooked a bit longer, but it was also good. I would love to try their brunch menu next time.

  • Review 26 (2022-07-07 - Rating: 5)

A hidden gem in West Village. Excellent customer service. Our waiter was nice and friendly. Absolutely delicious appetizers and very tasty entrées. Okay cocktails.

  • Review 27 (2022-03-09 - Rating: 4)

Great atmosphere! 5 stars for vibe. It looked pretty cramped on the first floor, but we had more than enough space on the second floor. I had the chicken which was juicy and savory, but the real star was the brussel sprouts. Definitely get them! Drinks were also delicious and strong. Dessert was unfortunately disappointing as meringue was as tough as jerky. Too bad, because everything else was good.

  • Review 28 (2022-08-16 - Rating: 5)

I visited Bobo recently with a group of friends for a birthday 🎉 event. We had a wonderful time. The ambience and decor was very nice, the food really good, and the staff friendly. We ordered multiple dishes on the menu and they all delivered, I specifically recommend getting the grilled octopus which was phenomenal. The steak dishes all delivered too! Also give the beet chips a try. I enjoyed them.

  • Review 29 (2022-02-20 - Rating: 4)

The best part about Bobo is the setting. Set in a brick-laden West Village townhouse, this French restaurant has floors with different ambiances, from the cozy downstairs bar to the classic main dining room to the winter garden in the back. The food and cocktails are a good compliment to the experience.

  • Review 30 (2024-08-14 - Rating: 4)

It was restaurant week when we were there, got a three course meals for $45 which is decent. First courses were great, the risotto was too salty, dessert was also good. The accoustics in the place are terrible, very loud and you can bearly have a conversation.

  • Review 31 (2024-12-31 - Rating: 5)

Beautiful cozy restaurant with great food and service

  • Review 32 (2024-04-20 - Rating: 4)

  • Review 33 (2024-10-23 - Rating: 5)

Amazing food, the crispy artichokes are a must! The interior is really nice, has a great atmosphere, although the tables are a bit too close it’s not an issue. Service was great, sympathetic and fast. Will definitely come back next time I’m in NY!

  • Review 34 (2023-01-22 - Rating: 5)

Cozy french restaurant in West village.I spent my Christmas eve here ! I loved everything! Food was very fresh and tasty. Staffs were very friendly, also loved their wine and interior.

  • Review 35 (2021-08-20 - Rating: 5)

I dont typically write reviews, but this restaurant went above & beyond. We initially had a reservation on Wednesday that the restaurant had to cancel because of unforeseen construction that forced them to close for the evening. Instead of receiving a text or email, I got a personal phone call from someone at the restaurant letting me know and asking if we could reschedule. We ended up going for dinner the next night and were so impressed from everything from the service to the atmosphere and the food! Everyone apologized for having to cancel our reservation from the night before, and the general manager even came over to our table to apologize, thanked us for coming, and gave us a complimentary appetizer. This kind of service just doesnt exist many places!! The food & drinks were amazing, and we were thrilled with the experience overall! Highly recommend!!

  • Review 36 (2024-05-05 - Rating: 5)

Came here with some out of town friends. They were super impressed with the choice—we were so satisfied with the meal!I would honestly come back here over and over just for the crispy artichoke. The salad was fresh. Gnocchi was rich, creamy, flavorful. Steak was done perfectly. The atmosphere was busy but we still got to connect in our intimate corner. Would definitely come back.

  • Review 37 (2024-09-20 - Rating: 4)

EXCELLENT fish dishes. Both the tuna and Branzino were absolutely delicious. I could not figure out which one was better. They have a pretty good happy hour and I enjoyed the white wine. Oysters were OK. Great happy hour deal though ($2 each). The second floor is a bit noisy. Very cute interior though just noisy. A little tight with the tables. I would be interested in coming back and sitting downstairs.Very nice staff.Something to consider for a date night or with friends!

  • Review 38 (2020-03-08 - Rating: 5)

Great service and amazing food - we came without a reservation and were seated very quickly even though it was relatively packed. Such a wonderfully cozy place to sit and spend a Sunday afternoon. Steak/fries and caviar hash browns were soooo good!!

  • Review 39 (2023-06-20 - Rating: 4)

Rustic French country home feel to it with a big wine list and great service. We just came for some happy hour oysters and frites but really enjoyed our time there

  • Review 40 (2023-10-01 - Rating: 5)

We loved their 4-7 happy hour, walked in at 6pm on Thursday and there were a few spots at the bar and several empty tables downstairs, everything was packed when we left around 8.The happy hour wines were good and the waitress behind the bar was very sweet.

  • Review 41 (2024-08-13 - Rating: 5)

Bobo was the perfect place for the my clients to host their surprise engagement lunch after taking their surprise engagement photos close by The staff was accommodating to all our needs, the atmosphere was refreshing. I would highly recommend!

  • Review 42 (2019-12-22 - Rating: 4)

Came here for brunch with a friend. The food was decent, but slightly high for what you get. But I guess that’s expected for the area. The service was excellent the ambiance was also very appealing!

  • Review 43 (2016-09-26 - Rating: 5)

Great happy hour spot. Interesting drinks, cute atmosphere, and friendly bartenders. Loved the eclectic mix of music (everything from 90s hip hop to 50s/60s rock and roll). We tried all the happy hour cocktails and enjoyed them all.

  • Review 44 (2023-02-10 - Rating: 4)

Came here with three other friends on a Friday evening around 7:30 for dinner. We had no reservation but the restaurant does set aside tables for walk-ins. A nice group let us take their larger table in the corner so we had space. There’s bar seating as well. The overall vibe is cozy and for restaurant week, the dinner was $45 for three courses. Not everyone was required to participate in Restaurant Week.I got the artichokes, the Branzino, and the chocolate mousse. The artichokes were a popular appetizer; the baby gem salad that my friend got was decently dressed. I also tried the gnocchi, which wasn’t as rich as I thought it would be. The Branzino had a nice lentil accompaniment and was nicely cooked. We all really liked the lemon tart. The chocolate mousse was also good and came with sea salt sprinkled on top - it’s wasn’t too sweet, and was light and airy. Credit cards accepted. They have happy hour during the week.

  • Review 45 (2021-11-29 - Rating: 4)

I tried Bobo today for the first time with a friend for brunch. It’s located in a quaint brownstone with stunning windows. The service was welcoming and attentive. The French toast (pain perdu) was well done, if somewhat unexciting. I’d love to go back and try their dinner service — I could see this being a great spot for an intimate glass of wine.

  • Review 46 (2018-10-22 - Rating: 5)

Lamb for two was AMAZING & the lobster appetizer is also a must! This is such a cute homey French restaurant in east village...its like eating at your French grandmothers home. The garden area is also so cute!!

  • Review 47 (2023-11-05 - Rating: 5)

My girlfriend and I went to Bobo NY for our anniversary and could not have asked for a better experience! Food was immaculate and the service even better. They accommodated for our food coming out a bit late (even though it was not late at all compared especially considering how busy the night was). Steak was cooked perfectly and the would highly recommend the croquettes. Our waiter was on top of it and was very professional while being friendly. Instantly recommended this restaurant after our experience to friends and would recommend everyone to give Bobo a try!

Its always such a pleasure to come here! So much so that we had our wedding reception here. It was a fantastic choice as all the food we got to try was delicious and made it difficult to decide what to put on our menu. The service is always super friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is very French and very cozy. If you can, I recommend dining in the greenhouse area on a nice evening. What a vibe!

  • Review 52 (2020-12-03 - Rating: 5)

I went here for my birthday and I’ve been meaning to go back! We were seated at the roof area - it was so beautiful. I’m still thinking about the steak I ordered. The service was amazing!

  • Review 53 (2024-10-08 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 54 (2023-10-01 - Rating: 5)

Absolutely loved the french vibes. Food was amazing and portions were filling. Would definitely go again 😍 try the pastry basket, heirloom tomato salad and croque monsieur! Can’t go wrong there. Tables were a little close so could hear the entire conversation beside us, I’m sure they heard us too 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

I enjoyed getting away at this French restaurant. Really felt like I was out on the town. The ambiance is so cozy. Great lighting and decor. Excellent service, however something happened to our main course and we had to ask about when it was coming. They brought it out quickly after that. The flavor and freshness of our meal (salad, salmon and lemon tart) were fantastic. Highly recommend.

This is one of those places that TimeOut would take the undatables.Great atmosphere. I was expecting a bit more attitude from the staff, for being a more expensive place, but everyone was so pleasant! Its on the more expensive side but its worth it. Lots of couples on dates all around!

The place is adorable! Specially the sun room, such great vibes!! Got the omelette which was really good and my friends got the French toast with maple butter which they loved!I also got to go for the holiday season and the ambiance is so cozy and just perfect! The food was good to, we got the croquettes which were quite good, the beet salad which was smaller than expected but tasty, the octopus dish, and the potato gnocchi which was very good. Overall the food was good but the plates were smaller than expected. It is the ambiance that makes the place just wonderful and makes it a great experience!

Nice restaurant, Ive been here twice now once for dinner the ambiance and service was terrific. My wife and I were placed in the second floor area which reminded me of a cozy living room with a fireplace. The second time we went it was for happy hour cocktails and wine we sat next to the door and they were great as well!

I came here for a birthday dinner and the overall experience was amazing. The cellar has an easy going vibe and it’s more loud. We had a drink there while we waited for our table upstairs.Upstairs the restaurant atmosphere feels different but in a good way. It’s simple but charming and it goes pretty well with the French menu. Our waitress was amazing, fast, helpful, had good recommendations and knew a lot of the wine selection. I don’t know a lot of wine but we tried 4 types and they were all good. Excellent service. The menu is short but with a lot of good things. Everything was super tasty and I would recommend sharing all the dishes so you can try as much as possible. They even gave us a surprise birthday cake !I will come back !

Bobo is a great neighborhood staple for a really solid meal, or a spot to grab a drink in their separate bar area after dinner. Most everything you order will be solid. The food is French inspired and very accessible; good without being over the top.The restaurant has several distinct spaces to sit, each offering their own, slightly different vibe (just to clarify, menu is the same). But throughout, Bobo has a good buzz and great service. The bar area takes up the lower level and is mostly first come, first served. Its a big bar space for a restaurant and provides ample seating both at small tables and the bar itself. Cocktails are great.Come for: good food, solid drinksFavorites: the bougie (cocktail), crispy skin salmonWatch out: the entree menu isnt huge

  • Review 69 (2023-06-18 - Rating: 5)

Lovely dinner! Perfect for all vibes - date night, dinner with parents/folks out of town, meeting with friends. Made a reservation and was pleasantly surprised to be seated in the back, in the enclosed porch/patio. Good selection of wines and food. Would highly recommend the asparagus as a side - by far our favorite thing! Looking forward to coming back with others.

Stumbled across this gem after a restaurant we were going too was closed. What a lucky find! The space was much more than we expected from the outside. The food wasn’t the most consistently flavorful but still good. Ambiance is airy and light and service was great

  • Review 71 (2024-03-07 - Rating: 5)

An absolute must if you love bottomless brunch!!! The ambiance also truly makes this place the garden seating is absolutely spectacular and super cute for a date or photos. Their food is decent too Its presentation is delightful. The front of house staff is also cordial and well trained with the menu. Its so cute to just explore how creative they were with the design and seating of the whole place as well. Defintely take a walk around. You might have to wait for a table on weekends. My one feedback is theres always a line for the bathroom. Its also very expensive and the portion sizes could defintely be bigger it isnt too filling so they could help the portion sizes reflect the cost. They arent big. Otherwise love this place!!! 😀

Very good, excellent diamond in the ruff. Delicious, portions could be larger. and bread and butter pricey for like 6 small baguette pieces. Could do better! Overall i loved it.!

We really enjoyed our dinner here at Bobo with friends. Its located in a charming townhouse with a covered outdoor terrace on the upper floor, perfect for dinner on a summer evening to enjoy the late sunset. The food itself was superb - each dish was clearly prepared with excellent technique and ingredients. We shared 3 appetizers in our group - the truffle croquettes, Parisian gnocchi and grilled octopus. I particularly enjoyed the truffle croquettes, which included corn roasted in honey. For my main I got the sasso chicken fricassee on the recommendation of our server, which I thought was surprising given that chicken breasts served in restaurants arent usually bestsellers. The fricassee blew me away - it was tender, juicy, and flavorful, with very crispy skin to complement it, in a nice white stew. I would order the chicken again next time I eat here.

Delicious dinner in a great at atmosphere. Everything they brought out was perfect. Loved the crispy (fried) artichokes, grilled octopus, and steak. Good wine and espresso martini made me leave a review! Highly recommend.

Visited Bobo for Restaurant Week and did not disappoint. The host could have been better, barely greeted and didn’t direct us to the table until asked. But the rest of the experience was great. Started our dining with cocktails: bold fashion and Lolita, both delicious, with a side of beet chips that were crisp and perfectly salted. We ordered off the restaurant week menu, three courses for $42. The starters of steak tartar and little gem salad were the perfect beginning dishes. The entrees of vegetable risotto and cassoulet were great winter dishes, hearty and satisfying. And for dessert the chocolate mousse and lemon tart were the best ending to a wonderful meal. And our waiter was absolutely the best. In a city full of mediocre service, great service always stands out. He did not rush us and checked in many times. He was kind and knowledgeable. Would definitely visit Bobo again and recommend even during non Restaurant Week times.

Hip French restaurant in West Village. Went here during restaurant week and got their 3-course dinner. For starters, consider trying the tomato gazpacho or watermelon salad. For mains, the chicken confit is really nice and comes with salad. The paccheri is a good vegan alternative. For dessert, would highly recommend the molten chocolate cake. For a less sweet option, try the sorbet du jour. You could try both as they go well together. We also tried the oysters (part of the regular menu) and they came out quite fast. While the entrance of the place is through the basement, there is a second floor with balcony for additional seating. Would recommend getting a reservation as this place is very popular, particularly during restaurant week. Their offer is quite reasonable for what you get, and is generally less expensive than the restaurant week options at other restaurants.

Had the best time at Bobo with my work friends! They accommodated our group of 6 last minute (when we realised we booked the wrong time!) Everyone was super pleasant and helpful in terms of food and cocktail recommendations. Both of which were delicious (especially the onion soup!) Cant wait to come back!

  • Review 83 (2019-02-12 - Rating: 4)

Nice experience. Food is freshly prepared for an order. Fillet mignon was great, white fish would be great if not for a thick creamy sauce. Great side dishes - all of them. Great desserts, and selection of wine even better, including by the glass. Actually, its the best selection of wine by the glass. All in all, its definitely a place to add to your favorites.

Loved our meal. Had a reservation for 6 in the den and it was awesome - service was great and they recommended so great French wines, we had multiple appetizers which were delicious and all the mains were a hit. This meal convinced some people who thought they didn’t like French food how good it can be

I’m a fan! Bobo is a great spot in the West Village to treat yourself to some very good food. The downstairs section is more casual than upstairs. Upstairs has a very inviting French country vibe with candles, an old fireplace, and wooden decor. Downstairs is a bit more casual.Food wise - you can expect great quality from Bobo. There’s very good flavor in all of the dishes that I’ve tried. Most recently, the grilled octopus was noteworthy. I split the hanger steak & asparagus. I’m not the biggest fan of hanger steak - I wish a different cut was available. Skip the asparagus. For the price, you’re getting about 8 stalks and $1/stalk. Nothing too noteworthy flavor wise.

I experience the bar area on the main floor. The bartender was very understanding and patient allowed my friend to try different wines before choosing the best that suited his taste buds. I didnt have a meal but the cocktails are delicious; from the smells Im sure the food is delicious. I will be returning soon for lunch or dinner.

Came here with a few friends for dinner. Restaurant is large for NYC and there are multiple areas you can be seated. Ambiance of each as you walk through the restaurant all seems nice. We were seated just before the outdoor area where there is a glass ceiling so it was kind of chilly as the heater was spotty going on and off. Atmosphere of that room was really nice though to be able to look up and outside and with the brick walls surrounding you. One friend ordered off the restaurant week menu and was not a fan of the food. I decided to order off the a la carte menu with another friend and split the rabbit terrine as an appetizer, lamb for two as entree, and the tart of the day which was apple and almond. Terrine was fine but that lamb was so good. Its served on top of some collard greens and polenta (with plenty of melted butter). One of the best lamb dishes my friend and I ever ate. The apple and almond tart for dessert was also phenominal. Crisp pastry crust, apples were the perfect texture and combined with the frangipane had a really nice slightly floral aroma. Definitely a good spot to bring a date or to come to with friends. Service was good, theyre good about keeping the water glasses filled. I liked the fact that they dont rush you for dinner although a buddy of mine felt the food and service was kinda slow. Overall was a good experience and would come back. There were a few people speaking french two tables over which added to the overall atmosphere.

I seldom describe a meal as divine, but there’s no other word for our dinner experience at Bobo on Friday evening. From the airy and immaculate upstairs dining room to the meticulous and friendly service, the stage was set for a remarkable meal. My guest and I, having enjoyed a few excellent appetizers and a cheese plate, split the perfectly nuanced Filet au Poivre ($36). We couldn’t have asked for anything more tender and flavorful. The peppercorn sauce had a gentle zing and the plentiful French fries had a personality of their own accented by the rich sauce. We had preceded the entrée with a cheese board anchored by an elegant Bleu d’Auvergne accompanied by a farmhouse Brie and a goat cheese from the French countryside. The Côtes-du-Rhône (Saint Cosme, 2017, $70) was perfection: round and deep from the first sip all the way through, getting fuller as it opened. Our waiters, Bryce and Anthony, couldn’t have been more knowledgeable and efficient, all in good-humored sophistication. Most of the entrées are $24 and the sparkling water is free. One special moment in our evening of superlatives will live on in my personal snow globe: as we enjoyed the appetizers and a deeply satisfying conversation, my favorite funky instrumental played in the background—“Green Onions,” Booker T and the MGs. Life can be so wonderful. It was our first experience at this West Village gem. Such a finely orchestrated dining symphony doesn’t occur without superb management. David deserves top marks in this regard. He welcomed us warmly and checked back a few times, making us feel totally comfortable. Cheers all around. I’m sure there will be many more totally satisfying Bobo dinners to follow. rand b

I love a good spiced margarita and Bobo’s épice Margarita is exactly that. It’s a crisp and refreshing cocktail garnished with a cucumber. The happy hour menu is not quite varied but it is decently priced. The oysters were lovely. I tried their pomme pavée in lieu of French fries for the same price point of $12 and it did not disappoint. The mousse au chocolat on the other hand was too dense for my liking but it tasted good. I’ll be back for certain.

Went early on a warm evening and it felt like we were in Santa Barbara, California. The people at the hosts podium were welcoming, as well as the servers and the bus staff. The menu is limited so they take care in presentation and freshness. The only thing that could be better is the bread that was served with the radish, butter and bread appetizer. Basically the kind of bread that you get at the market, not fresh baguette that you get at the bakery. The Blackberry spritzer drink was refreshing and the pasta was lovely and very light, almost lemony. The crispy artichoke was not necessarily super crispy but it was flavorful and delicious.

Was very pleasantly surprised by a wonderful meal there. Ate with a crew of seven people. Service was fantastic. And the $35 corkage fee was very reasonable and outside wine was received with care and service not always seen at other places. Great meal and Ill be back.
