I went here last week with my sister....we got the grilled cheese with mushrooms is the best GCh Ive ever had and the waffle was pretty good too!! The only thing is that this place is pretty tiny 🥲 we waited for like 30 minutes to be seated was pretty packed but worth the wait! Our waiter speaks Spanish so that was a plus for us 😃 -

Atmosphere was great! And food was awesome! Really nice place to sit outside during the fall with a hot cappuccino when the leaves are falling 🍁 Highly recommend. There is always a long line and they dont take reservations for brunch. I had some pastries (come in pairs of two and are small), the waffle, and a croque. All great! Highly recommend! -

Amazing French food! Also had the best chocolate mousse here, definitely worth the price! Reservations are highly recommended cause the place was packed on a Wednesday night. Some bar seatings available but not a lot. The restaurant is cozy so limited seating available. -

Highly recommend for a solo breakfast or brunch - there is always a long line but Ive been able to get a bar or window seat straightaway as a party of one. The New Yorker drink (basically a cold espresso shakerato) is my favorite. The Belgian waffle was delicious and a perfect portion size. The service is attentive and the atmosphere is cozy. -

Amazing breakfast, service and atmosphere. My wife said she had best scone ever. I had avocado toast with egg. Great juice and coffee. -
Review 6 (2024-12-01 - Rating: 4)
Cute spot with an authentic French vibe. The food tasted great but portions were a bit small for the massive price tag. Atmosphere is nicer in certain spots than others, they definitely crammed as many tables as possible into the space. -
Review 7 (2024-11-06 - Rating: 5)
Tiny, elegant, and very popular. We had an acceptable wait outside to get in for a 2pm Sunday brunch (a little faster than others because we sat at the bar). Staff, especially the person at the door, was very friendly and helpful. One slight quibble with the food: i found the crust on the bread the saumon fume difficult to cut through. Otherwise, 5 stars. -

I stopped by Buvette for brunch. It is quite busy so may take some time to get a table. There are tables in the street-side and inside.I got a waffles and Capuccino. The jam used on the waffles was amazing. -
Review 9 (2024-08-21 - Rating: 4)
We went here for our 10th wedding anniversary. It was pretty standard, competently made French food. The portions were generous for the cost, in my opinion. Highlights: the beets were excellent, and the duck and pork in my cassoulet were perfect. I wanted more beans as thats my favorite part of cassoulet, but its a small quibble. The carrots didnt land for me. I could tell they were going for a French-Moroccan flavor profile but it was a bit cumin-heavy (and I love cumin). We didnt finish the carrots. The ratatouille on toast was probably the best vegetable part. Service was efficient if a bit impersonal, but I dont really expect servers to move mountains, our service was good. Overall I was just a wee bit disappointed with the food but I have no major complaints either. I probably wont go back given the number of options out there but I wouldnt dissuade anyone from trying this place. The ambiance is nice, the noise level is low for how intimate it is, and the wine selection is stellar. -

Charming French bistro that oozes cozy vibes. Very efficient hostess process. Long line but went very fast. Food was delicious. Waffle sandwich was worth the wait. Highly recommend. -

Buvette offers a delicious breakfast that’s hard to beat, with an amazing Americano to match. The egg with oily tomato is something else—rich, flavorful, and truly unique. The place has a charming and distinct vibe that reminds me of London, making it a special spot to start the day. Whether you’re there for the food or the atmosphere, Buvette delivers an experience that’s both delightful and memorable. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy a unique and flavorful breakfast! -
Review 12 (2024-12-15 - Rating: 4)
The portions are on the smaller side, but the food is delicious. The tables are quite small and close to each other, so dont expect much privacy or a quiet atmosphere – youll likely hear the conversation at the table next to you. -

A pleasant gem in NYC. We weren’t expecting to find a place so calm and with such fresh ingredients for food and eating here was a great decision. We also ordered the pancakes and ended up feeling stuffed by the time we got up.On the pricier side but portions will fill you up!Side note - we apologize to the kind waiters who we accidentally tipped less than we thought. We realized our mistake almost immediately and it was too late. Great service. Hoping this picture we took with our vintage film camera + the good review makes up for it.Feel free to use the picture on your IG or website if you like it.Cheers -

I’ve been wanting to return there for years, last time was before Covid. I am happy that the experience was the same cute, warm, cozy French vibe I felt years ago. Their menu is short but sharp and extremely delicious. I won’t get over the fact of such creative art design of the menu, by the way. I was impressed, especially with the cocktails menu. You don’t get to see such beautiful creation design-wise these days anymore. I wish I could purchase it as a souvenir! I will return soon to have my favorite crème brûlée in town. Thanks, Buvette for keeping your essence throughout the years. -
Review 15 (2024-12-22 - Rating: 5)
Such a fun evening and a great French menu! Everything is solid and outstanding. Tables might be a little small and space a little cramped, but this is the spirit of the village - it’s magical and you can’t beat it.All the dishes for both brunch and dinner are great. We’ve eaten at both, and dinner this evening was delicious. The escargot and mussels for all, followed by the sausage special and tartine were perfect to fill us, ending with the rich chocolate mouse. I won’t lie, the copious glasses of beautiful French wine were great too!Service is old school New York - they take the time to get to know you, don’t hover, and give you the time to enjoy your meal to the fullest extend. Karlie was top notch and added such elegance to our dinner experience. The whole team from start to finish were great! -

Cute little restaurant in west village. Glad to make it here for a slow last day in NYC. Obviously a popular spot given there was a wait on a weekday morning. Attentive service and tasty brunch, will return next time I visit. -

Buvette, tucked away at 42 Grove St in New York’s West Village, is a charming haven that perfectly encapsulates the essence of a cozy French bistro. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance envelops you in warmth, with its rustic decor and intimate lighting creating a delightful Parisian vibe. The menu is a celebration of French comfort food, and every dish I tried was nothing short of spectacular. The croque madame is a must-try—crispy, cheesy, and topped with a perfectly fried egg. Paired with a fresh salad, it makes for a satisfying meal any time of day. Don’t miss the pastries either; they are simply divine and ideal for sharing. The service is exceptional, with staff who are knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about the menu. Their recommendations enhance the experience, making you feel like a valued guest.Whether you’re stopping in for a leisurely brunch or an evening glass of wine, Buvette offers an unforgettable dining experience that captures the heart of French cuisine. It’s a perfect spot for a cozy date night or a gathering with friends, and I can’t wait to return! -

Delicious French Breakfast!I was very impressed with their coffee and pastries, went there two days in a row. Highly recommend almond croissant, French toast and latte.Tips: they don’t accept reservations, expect line and wait time. Inside is bit crowded, better to go as light as possible. -
Review 23 (2024-02-27 - Rating: 5)
Great place with quick workers. Dropped my knife, and the lady came and replaced it instantly. The Tartare was perfect. Most places put too much flavor, but here it was smooth and enjoyable. Couldnt read a single thing on the menu in a good way! The Cafe Miel is the best drink. -
Review 24 (2024-12-28 - Rating: 5)
What a terrific all around dinner experience! If you can get here - go there. -
Review 25 (2024-10-01 - Rating: 5)
Fantastic spot. Food was so tasty, I had croque forestier which was a fancy buttery cheese sandwich with delicious mushrooms. My brother had beef tar tar. Both were mouth watering.delicious. nice server and ambience was unbeatable. -
Review 26 (2024-07-09 - Rating: 5)
The food and service were really great. Prices matched the portions I would say. My only qualm was how crowded the restaurant was. It made it a little uncomfortable to have a conversation or to move around freely. I would go again I would probably just try to get an outdoor table. -
Review 27 (2023-07-14 - Rating: 5)
Buvette is one of my favorite brunch place in New York City! I love their food as much I love their aesthetic. They have both sweet dishes and savory dishes. I usually order one savory and one sweet. French Toast is always go to menu. It is so cute and I love how soft and sweet it is. -
Review 28 (2024-10-12 - Rating: 5)
This is the place I always take my friends from out of town for brunch. Despite the many brunch options in the neighborhood, I keep coming back here. The portions are just right — not too much, but satisfying.Plus, it’s easier to walk in during the weekdays. -
Review 29 (2024-11-05 - Rating: 5)

Love this neighborhood gem! Excellent high-quality French food. You can tell that there is pride here. Had both dinner and brunch, both of which were great. Portions also the perfect size. Attentive servers & staffGet here early because you will need to wait for a table if not a single diner or have a reservation. Well worth any wait though! -
Review 31 (2023-07-02 - Rating: 5)
Came here for brunch around 11am on a Saturday and only waited for 5 minutes to get seated. However, by the time we left around 12:30 there was a 10 person line outside, so I recommend coming in early if you don’t have a reservation. The food was bomb and the service was super fast! I got the scrambled eggs with salmon and they were amazing! We also got the beet juice and that was delicious too although on the more expensive side. The vibe of this place was also very good. Highly recommend it for brunch! -
Review 32 (2024-05-06 - Rating: 5)
The best breakfast plates in nyc! Perfect waffle texture with cream, berries jam, and plentiful fresh berries. Buttery scrambled steamed eggs with prosciutto and shaved parmesan cheese. We sit outside with heater, no wait, good service, beautifully-designed menu! -

Review 35 (2022-10-31 - Rating: 5)
Fabulous French restaurant!!! It was a tough choice to make what to eat since everything sounded great. Good drink options, very friendly staff. There was lots of people but for a good reason. The financier was great, their scrambled eggs as well. Definitely want to try their steak tartare next. -
Review 36 (2024-11-30 - Rating: 4)
The food was very good, but the portions are rather small. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was nice. The tables are very close to each other, so if you ended up being seated next to loud Turkish ladies like we did, it can make entire experience a little unpleasant. Will be back. -
Review 37 (2023-08-08 - Rating: 5)
Walk in only, the wait on a Sunday was like 20 min. Lovely place with fantastic food. The service was great, one of the servers was in charge of seating people, she was awesome. We got a table inside, the place is a little tight very hard not to feel like you are eating with the table next to you. We started with aperol spritz and let me tell you it was one of the best I’ve had in Nyc. For food we had a couple of dishes to share; we had the Belgian waffle which was underwhelming. Saumon flume was good, the eggs were perfectly fluffy, the beef tartare was ok, but the star of the table was the CRQ madame, I could eat like 3 of those no problem. Our server was amazing, the staff kept refilling our water glasses. We had a really good experience, this is a really good place for brunch. -
Review 38 (2023-10-28 - Rating: 5)
Simply amazing, very polite and helpful staff, we were seated almost immediately despite the crowd. The variety of freshly squeezed juices was great and the food was amazing, I had the croque madame and it was heavenly, they even cut the prosciutto right there in the bar. -

My favorite brunch in NYC. Had to write a review specifically about our server Jackson. He was the most lovely and wonderful server. I would go back just to see him again. So helpful and kind. Not to mention, every single thing we ordered was delicious. Croquet madame, Waffle sandwich, almond croissants and hot chocolate. So delicious. -

Buvette is truly a gem in the heart of New York! As a Floridian, I was absolutely captivated by the experience this amazing French restaurant offers. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for our meal. What impressed me the most was how the chefs transformed simple ingredients into exquisite dishes. Each bite was a delightful surprise, showcasing the artistry and skill that goes into French cuisine. The attention to detail was evident in both the presentation and the taste, making every dish a memorable experience. The service was impeccable; the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, ensuring we felt right at home. It’s rare to find a place that combines such high-quality food with a welcoming atmosphere.Buvette has undoubtedly earned a spot on my list of must-visit restaurants. I can’t wait to return every time I’m in New York. Highly recommended for anyone looking to indulge in a truly exceptional dining experience! -
Review 41 (2023-02-20 - Rating: 5)
Visited Buvette with a plan to come in early to avoid an agonizing wait and it was a success lolWe arrived at 9:45am on a sunday and were seated at the bar in 10mins (it wouldve been a longer wait for a regular table indoors for two) .It wasnt such a bad spot actually. Noise was average but the volume was a little less by the bar I guess coz it was facing away from the rest of the crowd. Service was pleasant and efficient. We got our almond croissant first and it was one of the best that Ive had in a while - some crunch from crust and the almonds but soft in the center. And there is sweetness there too which I liked! The latte was very good and I also liked their Cafe Meil (has cinnamon). For the food we got the Jambon Cru which had nice soft scrambled eggs! I love the texture and the mild clean flavor of the eggs. Add with some pepper, prosciutto and parmesan and it was actually a lovely breakfast. The Belgian waffle was surprisingly good too! Fruits were fresh, waffle was soft and the creme fraiche actually elevated that flavor! The breakfast/brunch menu was really just something simple but I liked how they actually executed the whole dish and kept the flavor just so pleasant. Thats probably why I ended up giving the five stars after debating if it shouldve been a four. Anyway hubster agrees a 5 star is in order and so there you have it. -
Review 42 (2024-11-07 - Rating: 5)
Buvette in Chelsea is simply a must-visit for me every time I’m in New York. I was first introduced to this location, though I’ve also been to their Paris spot, and it’s always amazing—the food, the vibe, and the service are consistently top-tier. I recently caught up with a mentor here, and though it was his first time, he immediately understood why I love it so much. The ginger fizz drink is a standout, something I wish I could take home, and the waffle sandwich is unbeatable. For breakfast, especially the egg and salmon toast, Buvette is absolutely the best in New York. Just be sure to get there early; it’s popular for good reason! -

Would recommend to book a reservation in RESY as the place is crowded and requires waiting most of timesNot the perfect spot to hangout but the chocolate mouse here is sooo worth it, extremely THICK and RICH.The almond croissant, and scrambled eggs were both delish as well. -

Review 46 (2023-09-24 - Rating: 5)
There are few places where the hype is well deserved and Buvette is definitely one of them. The menu is simple and focused on its strengths - get the eggs or the croque madame and then share the French toast with the table. Service is friendly and helpful, with suggestions on specials and add ons. Atmosphere is unmatched - very classic west village vibes that you can normally only hope for! -

Buvette: Where French Toast Dreams Come True (and the Line is Worth It!)Forget everything you think you know about French toast. Buvettes version is a revelation - fluffy, golden pillows soaked in a delicate vanilla custard, then dusted with the perfect amount of condensed milk 🤤 Its the kind of dish that makes you want to sigh with contentment and maybe even shed a happy tear (FOR REAL!).But the magic doesnt stop there. The entire brunch menu at Buvette is a symphony of fresh, seasonal ingredients and perfectly executed dishes.Just be prepared for a little wait. Buvette is a New York City institution, and theres usually a line snaking out the door. But trust me, its worth every minute!!! The charming atmosphere, friendly service, and, of course, the incredible food will have you coming back for more in no time.Heres what makes Buvette a 5-star brunch destination:- French toast thats pure perfection: Seriously, its the best Ive ever had.- Outstanding brunch menu: Everything from the savory to the sweet is top-notch.- Charming atmosphere: Buvette has a warm and inviting vibe that feels quintessentially Parisian.- Friendly service: The staff is attentive and helpful, even when theyre slammed. So, if youre looking for a truly unforgettable brunch experience, head to Buvette. Just be prepared to wait, and savor every delicious bite when you finally get your table.Rating: 5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I hope this review captures your experience and helps others discover the magic of Buvette ☺️ -

Amazing! Loved this brunch, lived up to my expectations. Service was so good! We sat at the counter so we could see the food get prepped, the plates were a bit in the way so it was a bit cramped but it was so worth it! Bloody Mary’s were so good. Steak Tartare was so good. Make sure to get the French toast! -
Review 49 (2023-12-03 - Rating: 4)
Stumbled in for some drink. Very cute french restaurant. Nice for a date spot. Was able to get a seat right away because someone just left, but you may expect a wait during busy lunch/dinner times. We sat at the bar for cocktails, this spot is your typical fancy version of some classic cocktails. Very spirit forward, so would be nice to snack and drink here. Wasn’t a fan of the drinks at all, but may have had to try something different in the future. -

Buvette has been on my radar for the few years I’ve been in the city, it’s typically heralded as one of the best brunch/brekkie spots. Finally got around to checking it out, whoever maintains the vibe and food at this place is executing at a 10/10, the food is simple yet delicious, and you feel like you’ve been transported into a charming Parisian cafe. Lives up to the hype. -

After seeing all the wonderful reviews we had to visit Buvette. There was a pretty long line to get a seat and we ended up waiting around 30 minutes. The wait was definitely worth it as the food was awesome. The whole setting of the restaurant is really comfortable and cozy. The food came out pretty quickly considering the amount of people they were serving. Everything tasted great! -
Review 53 (2024-10-04 - Rating: 5)
We’ve been visiting Buvette since 2015 every time we stayed in NY and this place is a must-visit, not only for good food & drinks but also for lovely memories. The NYC location has a more chill & friendly vibe than Tokyo. It’s always a pleasure to see Noble again who serves us like an old friend and we definitely look forward to visiting again soon. -

Had the chicken with haricot verdes and salad with a mustard vinaigrette and my son the steak and frites. Both were too salty. They brought the wrong entree for my son and it took way too long to get his after that. Mine came immediately. Not good timing. Not sure dinner was best choice for here. Seems brunch would be better or lunch. -
Review 55 (2021-03-30 - Rating: 4)
Had a lovely brunch here with friends on a Sunday. The line was pretty long without reservation, but we were lucky and got seated quickly. The food was delicate and served on small plates like appetizers. It’s a bit pricy for the small portions, but the atmosphere and delicious food made it a worthy experience. I liked the waffle sandwich, which was savory and indulgent. The steamed eggs had a smooth texture that made it stand out from regular scrambled eggs. Would love to come back and try its dinner menu! -
Review 56 (2024-02-13 - Rating: 5)
They saved us. We were wondering around checking if any restaurant would seat us walk ins for dinner in the neighborhood and every where was packed. We were seated as soon as we got there. The food was so good but I heard they are known for their brunch menu. Would definitely come again to try their brunch menu. 100 percent recommend. -

Had a great first brunch at Buvette! The hot oat milk latte was smooth and rich, the avocado toast was fresh and flavorful, and the salmon fumé toast had a wonderful smoky taste. The waffle was perfectly crispy and light, and the berries were a refreshing addition. Highly recommend this cozy spot! -
Review 58 (2022-10-23 - Rating: 4)
Such a great place to get brunch. I love the Croque Madam. The bread is very soft and ham is very tasty. Toast is very good too, soft, moisture and not too sweet. Saumon Fume is okay since the bread under is hard, but the salmon was fresh though. It is a little pricey but definitely deserves to go. And be prepared for the long line. -

This place has everything youd want in a fine dining cocktail forward foodie but approachable restaurant. Amazing menu, advanced cocktail menu, natural wines from France and the US, and AMAZING deserts! The music is perfect, the room is dimly lit and candles everywhere. Its a perfect gem. If you are in NYC area this is a MUST visit. Tables book fast via Resy tho so be sure to plan ahead.Highlights of our meal:- Oysters (The mignonette was amazing)- Duck Frittes (Never had a duck breast prepared that wonderful)- ALL of the Deserts- If you like Bourbon and notice the cocktail menu doesnt have a drink for you - ask for a Paper Plane - they make a great one! -

So good!!! Best brunch spot. It’s such quality food! You just have to be okay with tight spaces but I guess that is part of the charm. I was a walk-in so I was happy they were still able to seat me. The food was great. The staff is definitely overwhelmed and it’s so small so it makes sense. But I won’t take out a star since it feels like that is kind of expected! -

Darling interiors. Serving The best Croque Madame I’ve ever, ever had. While not inexpensive it was worth every penny. Personally I like that the portions are not oversized. Lovely place to dine w friends or solo. Quaint location in West Village. -

I went as a party of 2 on a saturday at 11am and we actually got bar seating very quickly because everyone else in front of us had larger parties or were waiting for tables. the wait for a table probably would’ve been 45min+we got saumon fume, chevre, pain perduthe eggs were a little underseasoned imo (needed more salt) and the french toast was really eggy. the bread was good in all the dishes but i dont think it’s worth a long wait. also they had the biggest caper ive ever seen -
Review 65 (2022-08-16 - Rating: 4)
Buvette is a super cute French establishment. We popped in for brunch on Saturday and did not have to wait long to be seated. We ordered a latte and flat white, which unfortunately were pretty terrible. However, the mains were both great. The portion size on the pain perdu was small, but it was delicious. The croque forestier was a little more filling and was just as good. Buvette is quite expensive, I had heard great things about their croissants but did not feel like spending $10 for a croissant when you can literally get an amazing croissant in Paris in any boulangerie for 1 euro. -
Review 66 (2023-12-24 - Rating: 4)
We order charcuterie and blue cheese, and cocktails. Were tasty but the presentation a bit messy, all in a tiny plate. The service is fast and friendly. The place is cute, has tiny tables and you sit really close from other tables, so good for a date not big groups. -

The best French brunch place in NYC. Be sure to come here during a weekday to taste their super-delicious “steamed eggs”. They are just out of this world. -

Friendly service at this very cute place. I have been here a few times for dinner back in 2012 and I figured why not come back for old times sake... The lunch menu isnt exactly dinner menu but there are options to choose from that makes the experience worthy on a very hot afternoon.. the Belgian waffles with berries was the star... And the service was great and friendly.. we arrived early for lunch but they took care of us with care...so I feel bad for the only 15% tip.. and the coins I used to give the tip -

Visited for breakfast and were just lucky to get a table for 4 as it was already pretty full.Beautiful french style cafe with seating outside and in. Between us we had the Belgian waffles, croque madame and avocado and eggs on toast. Really well put together food and extremely flavourful at that. Cappuccino was the perfect accompaniment.Make a reservation if you can and just go! -

Decent brunch place which explains the line outside. Frendly service and food is nice. The only downside for me is the restaurant space being so crowded and the walk space is every cramped. The food themselves are fine, appetizer pastries can bit a little bit fresher or warmer. Madeleines are a little dry. However, the Belgian waffle is delicious. -

Buvette is the perfect place to bring an out-of-towner who wants an affordable but classy NYC dinner. Each dish an absolute treat, although the coq au vin wins the prize. It was marvelous — perfectly savory sauce and beautifully marinated chicken. And the wine selection was just spectacular, paring perfectly with each dish! -

A long time favorite of ours. Everything here is delicious from breakfast to dinner. Prices have gone up since covid. Their delicious fresh orange juice used to be $7.50 (not cheap) … now $11.00. Open early and late. Teeny tables but charming. Great staff. The waffle sandwich for breakfast is fantastic. Really good selection of French wines. -

No reservations on the weekend but the delicious brunch we had was worth the wait, even on a very hot humid Sunday in May.The French toast were out of this world amazing and the eggs with smoked salmon were very tasty!Everything is small plates, I would recommend getting 2 per person or 1 1/2 and sharing with someone else. The quality is worth the price! -

I had the pleasure of visiting Buvette in New York City with a group of five people for brunch, and I have to say it was a fantastic experience! Despite it being a popular spot, the line wasnt very long and we were quickly greeted by a sweet lady at the front who was taking reservations. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with a charming French bistro feel. We loved the decor and the natural light that filled the space. As for the food, it was exceptional! We ordered a variety of dishes, including the croque madame, the brioche French toast, waffles, and the shakshuka, and everything was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. But what really made the experience special was the service - our waiter was attentive and helpful, making recommendations and answering our questions with a smile. We felt very well taken care of and enjoyed chatting with him throughout the meal.Overall, I would highly recommend Buvette for brunch in New York City. The food, service, and ambiance were all outstanding. If youre looking for a cozy and delicious brunch spot with French flair, Buvette is definitely worth a visit! -

Now:I think the quality of food at Buvette may have gone down. I recently had the Pain Perdue and Croque Madame, and there was a lot to be desired. It is still a nice and crammed little place, but the food is quite subpar. The Creme Anglaise was weak and the Croque Madame had rubbery egg and bad ham. I am especially disappointed consider the $15 price commanded for mediocre food. I hope they improve!3 years ago:Buvette is a quaint little place that has beautiful, bistro decor, and fantastic food. I just had Croque Madame while I was visiting, and I can totally see how people can become addicted to this place. My god, it was one of the best Ive ever had! The freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly brewed coffee were a great addition to my morning breakfast. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very mellow and calm. It was a great way to start my morning! I highly recommend any tourist/local traveling in this area to give this place a shot. It is worth it! -

This was a quick stop with friends at the end of a night - but the cocktail menu was extensive and the execution meticulous. I did not have a chance to try any food but was urged to come back by my pals. Service was super nice even while it was busy.I ordered the Penicillin and it was perfect, btw. Looking forward to an excuse to return. -

Full disclosure: I havent eaten at many brunch places in NYC but I feel this place does it right. Maybe its because Im a Southerner, but it seems like the brunch portions in this city are smaller than what I am used to, which is actually a good thing. As with any brunch place, you want to get here early and be prepared to wait. Our table was cozy, but not too cramped as I have plenty of room to freely move. Im not sure how often they make their menus, but, at this time, they are cute little pop-up cards that simply state the dish and price. A few of us ordered the strawberry lemonade (non-alcoholic) and it was probably the best altered version of the drink Ive ever had. It even came with a freshly sliced piece of watermelon! It was not too sweet, light, and very refreshing especially on a hot summer day.My girlfriend and I split a crepe with Nutella which was buttery, hazelnut goodness. Im glad we split it because it was probably too sweet to eat on my own. I ordered to waffle sandwich which was more like half the waffle was leaning on the other half. All the flavors of the bacon, eggs, cheese, and butter coalesced to create a magic food experience. Again, the portion was smaller than Im used to but was the right amount of food. I didnt feel like it was very heavy either, which is a very good thing.Ive seen other people comment about the food being pricey, but I think theyre wrong. To me, the price is right on the money (pun intended). Besides, this is New York City brunch, not Dennys. You should expect better quality in your food. Try this place out and get that watermelon lemonade if they have it! You wont be sorry. -

Gorgeous cozy French cafe in the heart of the west village. The attention to detail in the furnishings is exquisite. The menu is small, as are the plates. I had the chèvre - which was super tasty. My friend had the croque mosieur which looked delicious! It’s a lightly pricey for what you get, but the ambience in the place is good. -

Buvette in NYC is a charming, cozy spot with a European café vibe. The food is delicious, especially their brunch offerings, and everything is made with fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is intimate, perfect for a relaxed meal. It can get a bit crowded, so be prepared for a wait, but the experience is well worth it! -

Hands down the best chocolate mousse in town. Great brunch selections like the salmon with capers and eggs, and the waffle sandwich w eggs gruyere and bacon. Dinner dishes are all very delicious too, definetly order the special burger if they are serving it. Dishes are on the small side, but thats good, that means human portions. My Favorite small dish is the cod fish that comes on a little cup with bread, to eat as a spread. Unfortunatley the place has been plagued with tourists for the last couple of years, I would say avoid. -
Review 94 (2023-02-06 - Rating: 5)
I always have trouble ordering at Buvette because I love every single thing on the menu. For breakfast or brunch, the croque madame and egg dishes are a dream and perfectly portioned for the richness of the flavors. At any other time, it has to be tartines (the anchoiade is a non-negotiable), veggie sides, and a selection of cheese and meats with plenty of wine from their excellent wine list. This weekend I got there early to beat the line and opted to sit at the bar, where I enjoyed a perfect cappuccino, the Morning Elixir, and the jambon cru egg dish (eggs and prosciutto with shaved parmesan). As always, the service was warm, hospitable, and attentive, and the crowd—the typical eclectic combination of couples, friends catching up, young families, tourists, neighborhood regulars, and fellow solo diners—brought a buzzy, happy energy.I see a lot of reviews commenting on the price versus the proportions, but I’ve never once felt ripped off here. For the quality of the food, ingredients, service, and overall dining experience, I think the cost is perfectly reasonable. -

Now this is a classic done right. Super cozy interior makes you feel like you’re in a little restaurant in France. Delicious food with little plates of French classics. Recommend coming for lunch/dinner service rather than brunch for a better value for your money. Enjoyed their vegetable dishes and gratin. Service just ok. -

This is always my first stop when I get to New York. Whether stopping for a morning bite or an evening meal with a drink, Buvette is always as good as it gets. The toasts are delicious and the waffles will literally make your mouth water. Their dinner specials are also always tasty. The worst part of Buvette is trying to decide which item of pure joy to order.Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood there is almost always a wait for a table. Be prepared to sit close with other diners - this is classic New York dining without much space. I recommend making a reservation regardless of the time of day. -

There was a pretty long wait but once we had our food, zero regrets! We fortunately got to sit at the counter and watch the amazing staff make the food in front of us. Food was spectacular and so beautiful and the service is impeccable! The lovely host who seated us had forgotten to give us a menu and we only waited for 5 mins, but he was apologetic and gave us some croissants to make up for it. This place really deserves the 5 stars! Definitely coming back! -

A beautiful spot that even my boyfriend from France said it looks like a bistro in Paris. We hung out by the bar and it was probably a more comfortable spot than moving out to the outdoor area. The tables are tiny outside and there was barely enough space to put our dishes down. Nonetheless love the wine selection, the food, and absolutely the vibe here. We got the onion soup, croque monsieur, and potato gratin. Yum! -

Yes,yes, yes. This place was recommended by a friend of a friend and was def worth the visit. I always think, would I go there again(?) and the answer is yes! I would probably go back earlier and so that I can mix sundowners with an early bird dinner and then dinner. The food is so tasty! The size of the dishes is very good, small plates that justify a continuous stream of orders. Yum. On our trip we tasted the Ratatouille, mousse de foie, Tian provencale and cassoulet. All delicious and tasty. What was delightful is that you could taste all the ingredients, the dishes were fresh and not overly salty. Perfect place for good wine and great food. The staff was very friendly, especially the waiter that looks hazy in my picture was very galant and charming. The waiter that helped us unfortunately was rushed and didn’t have a good eve but all others were amazing. I highly recommend this place. LOVED it, can’t wait to go back. -

This restaurant is a Bib Gourmand Michelin restaurant, which stands for good quality and value cooking.Operations started in 2011 by Chef Jody Williams. This tradition European inspired eatery is a combination of a restaurant, bar and café. We stopped for breakfast and we went with the recommended waffle sandwich and avocado toast. When its rated by michelin I dont need to elaborate on the quality. The dishes did taste good but I have to say, that my ex wife *2 made the best avocado toast.Buvette locations are in New York, London, Paris, Tokyo and Mexico City. -

Cute space that serves incredibly delicious, well prepared food. Dinner menu consists of small plates that are good for sharing and offer the opportunity to try a little bit of everything. The restaurant itself is cozy and very small, so it can be a little tight and can be a bit overwhelming when large crowds begin forming at the bar, since there isn’t much room between the bar and the tables. Service was very good - waitstaff is there when you need them, but leaves you alone otherwise. A little pricey, but definitely worth it. We had a reservation so we were seated immediately, but I don’t know if I would visit without one since it gets very busy. -

I was here for brunch last time. This time is for dinner. The atmosphere is charming, and with outdoor sitting. The aperol spritz was very refreshing for summer. Food was simple and delicious. They used toast as a vehicle for their food.We ordered mussels with frites. The best part was the creamy curry sauce. It was so rich and flavorful. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. The ratatouille was served on a toast with olive oil and a little bit of chèvre cheese on a toast. The chilled zucchini and eggplants were so fresh and great for summer. The duck rillettes was really unspecial and tasted like canned tuna tbh. But all other dishes were amazing. -

Cute little French breakfast spot! A little more on the pricey side but wasnt disappointed since I knew that going in. Everything there from the madeleines to the meals were delicious! I got the special of the day which was avocado toast with Lox, cucumbers and a slightly spiced yogurt. The lox was the best Ive ever had; very flavorful and light without being too smoked or salty. It was complimented beautifully by the creamy yogurt topping as well with the perfect amount of crunch from the toast and cucumber. My boyfriend got light fluffy eggs and prosciutto that was also out of this world. We will be back on our next visit! Great work Buvette team! -

When you walk into Buvette, the ambiance transports you to a bistro in Paris. Intimate space with ample seating, so get cozy with your fellow diners. We came in for a weekend breakfast/brunch, and to beat the rush we came early around 930am and was seated right away.We started with the special fruit salad that was in a fresh squeezed juice, but was a little too tarte for my taste. Then we ordered a Croque Madam and a Jambon Cru. And finished with two petit almond croissants. The dishes looked small but surprisingly very filling. The prosciutto tasted super fresh and Jambon Cru eggs were so creamy.Overall delicious experience, but the dishes could have used a green salad to add another dimension to the flavors. -

We absolutely love this place! This is our number 1 favorite coffee shop when we want to have a Fancy French breakfast in New York. We keep coming back again and again. Sometimes, we order online and pick-up. I love their almond croissant, French toast, croque madame and the café au lait. though the portions are quite small but QUALITY over Quantity, because the food is always incredible. The wait is not bad. The only time we waited a long time was after covid im February 2022. It was required to show proof that we were vaccinated, after that the wait can be 15 to 20 minutes depending on the time you go. Space is very small (tight), small table, because they always busy, and the space is tight sometimes it is very loud in there. Perfect for breakfast or lunch and have a good time with friends or go solo. This is definitely a must to visit in New York City. -

This was the highlight of our weekend in NYC. After an all around wonderful late night dinner experience I’m adding this to the short list of absolute gems of the West Village. We lucked out with a Friday evening walk-in and pushed last call to land a great dinner. We were stressed from a long rainy drive up from Virginia and the service was welcoming and put us immediately at ease (not normal for NYC). The martinis were on point…the benchmark test if any bartender. The wine ‘list’ (more like a small book) was a joy to read through with plenty of options (and it made sense for a non-oenophile like me). While the menu is small plates…they were certainly a meal (not a BS tapas situation). Highly recommend the sale de poulet (very filling), the hachée au jambon cru (a meaty app), and the merguez spicy lamb (but I’m sure it’s all good). Be prepared for very cramped inside seating (which is fun if you make it fun). Worth every penny. -

This is the perfect spot to grab a martini while you’re waiting for a dinner resy or meeting friends. I love the cozy French vibes. The food smelled good too so it’d probably be good to eat dinner here too! The drinks were strong and good! -

Okay standard French brunch, the waitress was excellent and the line is very long during the weekend -

The food just ok , nothing special .Just toast sourdough bread with Ham and cheese , too noisy place. Me and my friend have to yelling not instead of talking normal. -

The almond croissant is the best piece of pastry I’ve ever had in my life.Space was a little too tight in our table but it’s understandable for how much demand the place has and how small the venue is. -

French breakfast/brunch place. The menu only has 16 items, which shows they specialize in their best meals. The almond frangipane is out of this world. The salmon eggs are delicious. Expect long wait during the weekend. There is small outdoor seating (5 tables). -

This is a brunch place. Don’t be scared away by the long line outside, it actually goes pretty fast. Guess my expectations were too high but didn’t think food was that great. Host was friendly but service at the table was not. The guy was more worried about someone ordering food to go then actually people sitting down. -

Since it’s weekday, the wait time is like 15 mins. If it’s longer than 40min, I suggest you to try other time. It’s actually pretty good but I gotta say it’s a bit pricey. They have really nice coffee. Cro madame is nice. The staffs are friendly. It’s definitely worth a try if the wait time is short. -

There’s a little line on summer weekends, but it moves really fast. Everything I tasted was delicious and the place is really cute. For dessert, try the creme brulee and come back here to thank me later ;) -

The whole experience was amazing! I was only visiting for a week but I searched and tried a lot and this place has hands down the best brunch and Bloody Marys in NYC! The vibes are incredibly cozy, the staff is really friendly and the waiter gave us the best recommendations! Definitely deserves all the good reviews! :) -

Charming little brunch/drinks place. Staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable with wine selections. Food was delicious and the eggs were perfectly fluffy and soft. The space is a little tight (not very accessible for wheelchairs/walkers). -

A quaint space in a darling part of town with one of the best breakfast experiences I’ve had in the city. The waffle sandwich and scones were excellent. Seeing other dishes served nearby makes me think you probably can’t go wrong with anything you order though. -
