Now this is authentic pizza in NYC. Capizzi is tucked under an overpass and just on the edge of the Hells Kitchen district, and well worth the walk from midtown. We had three pies (the eggplant was by far the best, but all three were fantastic). Our server and the manager/owner were super friendly and helped us decide. We also brought a nice 2020 Amarone and they opened it for us for a very modest charge. The desserts were also next level. Can’t recommend this place enough! -

Excellent dinner here. Needed something small, but delicious, and this place was perfect. Busy but no wait and the pizza was fantastic. The crust was neither bland nor tough, and the options were plentiful. The 12 inch was enough for 2 for us, but we could have absolutely eaten more. -

Аbsolutely fantastic! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The food is simply delicious, and you can tell they use high-quality ingredients. I cant wait to come back here again – its definitely a new favorite spot! -

Quick service and friendly staff. Pizza and everything else we had was good. They accommodated our large group (with toddlers) as more people trickled in. Gigi handled our table like a pro! -

This place can only be described as a true hidden gem serving some of New York’s finest pizza. Beyond the unassuming exterior is an inviting and charming space, intentionally designed and curated. The service was pleasant and accommodating. And of course, the pizza was excellent. The ingredients and sauce were fresh, while the crust was perfectly cooked. It’s a thinner crust that still maintains some of the softness from thick crust pizzas. Out of all the pizza places in the city, this one is definitely worth a visit. -

I took a “hot honey” pizza. Which is a pizza with tomato sauce, cheese and pepperoni and with honey on top. The pizza was SO good I would rate it a 9/10.It was hot, not too much cheese and pepperoni. The crust was perfect not too thick and chewy. The decorations were so pretty. Ut really felt like you were in Italy. I would recommend this place a 100%. -

Unassuming pizza spot behind the PABT, this place is rustic and so are their brick oven wood-fired pizzas! The sausage, sweet pepper, and onion classic uses a margharita base, with fragrant Tuscan flavors and a light smokey crust. Good amount for a dinner, but light enough to walk out feeling great! -

During our recent trip to NYC, we visited this pizza place and had an amazing experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making it easy to work with our special food requests. The pizza was absolutely delicious—my daughter devoured hers, and my son happily ate all the crust she left behind! The wine was fantastic as well. I highly recommend this restaurant; you won’t be disappointed! -
Review 9 (2024-09-30 - Rating: 5)
Excellent pizza. We had the white truffle and the one with salami and honey (don’t miss that one). Chianti worked well with both. -
Review 10 (2024-07-29 - Rating: 5)
Delicious pizza, really well done! Super friendly servers and cute atmosphere. Not overpriced. We loved it! -
Review 11 (2023-09-06 - Rating: 5)
Very tasty pizza experience and not something to pass up while you are in New York! This place might not seem as flashy as other locations, but has delicious pizza and Italian cuisine. Highly recommend trying the honey chicken pizza, it was so so good we wished we had more! The staff is also very friendly and service quick. There are lots of really cool decorations on the inside of antique coca cola materials and other memorabilia! -
Review 12 (2024-10-23 - Rating: 5)
Now its not a Michelin star sort of place, but I had the Prosciutto Funghi pizza, and I honestly believe it was one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. It was cooked to perfection. The base was crisp but not burnt. Toppings were perfectly balanced with the cheese and tomato. I am almost 50 years old and eaten pizza all over the world, including Italy. This was spectacular 🙌 -
Review 13 (2024-08-25 - Rating: 5)
Amazing European style pizza. Very tasty. Service was great. Home made sangria was tasty as well. Great service. -
Review 14 (2024-08-15 - Rating: 5)
A great spot often missed in the busy Hells kitchen area. They serve food that makes you feel like you are eating in southern Italy. Definitely recommended! -
Review 15 (2024-08-21 - Rating: 5)
What a gem! Wanted a quaint place to dine before a Broadway show, and this did not disappoint. Great service and the pizza was excellent! We love our oven fired pizza and this was better than our usual place back home. Prices were great for being so close to Times Square. -

Wood fire stone oven made pizzas are good. -
Review 17 (2023-10-20 - Rating: 5)
Such a great little pizza place, oh my goodness. I am a street photographer unfamiliar with the area and saw good reviews and decided to pop over. I was greeted very kindly by the staff and felt cozy in the small but spacious dining area. I got a simple margarita pie, but believe me when I say its one of the best margarita pies Ive had (and Im Italian, Ive had tons of pizzas throughout my years). Do yourself a favor and visit Capizzi. -
Review 18 (2023-06-17 - Rating: 5)
This was some of the best Italian food we’ve ever had. Though I did get the salmon, it was such a great tasting piece of fish! The vegetables were so complementary as well. The atmosphere was amazing and the owner came by and chatted with us for a little bit as well. Great service and great food. I feel like I must stop for Italian food in New York. -
Review 19 (2024-03-14 - Rating: 5)
Family and I took a short vacation to New York City just b4 Christmas 2023. My wife and I managed to get a table right away at this perfect little taste of Italy (Capizzis) which ended up being one of our highlights this trip. When you picture a New York Pizzaria, this is it! -
Review 20 (2024-12-22 - Rating: 5)
Amazing food, best pizza we ever had! The tiramisu is also excellent. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. -
Review 21 (2024-05-12 - Rating: 5)
The pizza was beautifully crispy, with a perfectly charred flavor from their wood-burning brick oven.I personally didn’t feel completely satisfied after the meal. Despite the delicious pizza, I left a bit hungry. Overall, Capizzi is a cozy restaurant that captures the essence of authentic Italian cuisine. -
Review 22 (2024-04-03 - Rating: 5)
Casual and cozy restaurant with friendly waitstaff. If you’re looking for a family-friendly dining experience, this is a great option. Tasty pizza made in a brick oven for all to see. $45 flat rate on all their bottles of wine. Bon appetit! -
Review 23 (2023-07-07 - Rating: 5)
The best pizza in the us, hands down. Cozy and casual, staffs are chill and friendly, and their margherita pizza is fantastic. Caesar salad was good, too, but the homemade croutons were a bit salty in my taste but still decent enough. -
Review 24 (2024-11-02 - Rating: 5)
Capizzi in NYC is a hidden gem for pizza lovers. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a casual meal. The pizza was outstanding—thin, crispy crust topped with fresh ingredients that burst with flavor. Each bite was a delight! Our waiter was phenomenal, providing attentive and friendly service without being intrusive. He offered great recommendations and made sure our experience was seamless. Overall, Capizzi is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious pizza in a welcoming setting. Highly recommend! -
Review 25 (2023-04-20 - Rating: 5)
Cozy, family owned spot for hand-made Italian fare. Its conveniently located near the Times Square hotels without being in the bustle of TS. There arent many tables so often there is a wait, but service is fast. They dont take reservations. Would highly recommend if youre in the area and want some good brick oven pizza. Burrata fritta is great. Good for kids too. -
Review 26 (2024-04-09 - Rating: 5)
My boyfriend and I dined yesterday and the pizza was incredible. The server was really on point and friendly. Strongly recommend and we shall be back. -
Review 27 (2024-11-21 - Rating: 5)
OMG. This was some of the best pizza Ive had since my last visit to Italy in 2016. Water served from glass bottles. Margarita with pepperoni, cooked to perfection, and served by a very pleasant young man, Will. The decor here was good old fashioned Italian with a twist. Pictures of la famiglia with Laurel & Hardy and Mary Poppins on the side. Great atmosphere, great, friendly service and delicious pizza. What more do you want in a busy city. This place was not crowded when we were there around 8 pm. But with the quality of service and food, Id imagine lunch and dinner times would be packed. Highly recommend. -
Review 28 (2023-11-14 - Rating: 5)
Such a pretty restaurant. The waitress was so friendly and helpful with the menu. We had an arugula salad, chicken parm pizza, and sausage and broccoli Rabe pizza. Everything was so good. The pizza crust was quite the star! It tasted straight from Italy. -

Review 30 (2024-09-14 - Rating: 4)
The restaurant has a very romantic /cozy atmosphere. The service was efficient and quick. My pizza was a bit too salty but tasty. There were plenty of prosciutto for the topping. Two pizzas, a Diet Coke, and a beer plus service charge was $77. -
Review 31 (2023-02-06 - Rating: 5)
We just happened to find this restaurant on Google maps when walking past Times Square with a massive pizza craving. We were greeted in the restaurant and it has an incredible cosy feeling and the staff were extremely welcoming. Will was a very attentive waiter and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable as well as giving us a back story on the restaurant. The pizza itself was one of the most delightful pizzas Ive ever had in my life, we shared a margarita and a pepperoni pizza. The dough was cooked to perfection and the tomato sauce was perfectly balanced, then the basil added that extra dimension to the bite.I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and will definitely return should I be in New York again. -
Review 32 (2020-02-12 - Rating: 4)
Nice, small wood fired pizza place near Port Authority. Perfect for a casual dining experience. Service was pretty slow given it was not super busy, but the pizza was delicious. Will probably return when I am in the area. Something I’ve never seen at a restaurant before: the prices on the menu are the cash prices. If you pay with a credit card there is a 3.95% surcharge (like N.J. gas stations). -
Review 33 (2024-03-31 - Rating: 5)
Capizzi was amazing. So charming inside. Fried burrata was so good and the pizza was excellent. My wife loved this place the most out of all the places we ate in NYC. -
Review 34 (2024-07-17 - Rating: 4)
Atmosphere is amazing, BUT it was do hot inside! A hot day mixed with the pizza oven was too much. Its the cutest Cafe! Wish they would utilize their ceiling fans. The food was great and the service was great, too! -

Review 36 (2024-08-10 - Rating: 5)

We ordered two veg pizza (Melissa and Mushrooms Pepper and onion pizza) and two drinks. The Pizzas are delicious especially the Mushroom Pepper and onion pizza. The service is fast here. We didnt have to wait much. There is very less waiting time even on 31st eve (today). I would love to visit this place again. -
Review 42 (2022-07-12 - Rating: 4)
We went there in the evening it is located kn a little bit questinable place around the railway station. We were lucky there was a table without reservation around 8PM, we tried 2 pizzas , i have been in Italy and tried a lot of traditional places so i was not impressed with the dough but it was good product.i liked the restaurant inside and how it is arranged , very green comfy. Tables for sure were close to each other but it is very small palce so understandable. -
Review 43 (2024-10-26 - Rating: 4)
The service was great given it was a weekend and busy evening. Food cameOut fresh and fast. The staff were friendly and patient. Everything was tasty. Wish they had a better wine selection though. -
Review 44 (2022-11-17 - Rating: 5)
Traditional style brick oven pizzas, really simple and super tasty. The sauce was simple and had a home style vibe to it, the mozzarella was real and delicious, the arancini was tasty.Overall, the food was enjoyable.Portion sizes were good, about 11-12 each pizza, but being traditional theyre thin and not just a slab of dough. You know, the good kind. The staff were really friendly, we got in early before the dinner rush, so the atmosphere was nice and quiet.I enjoyed our meal there. -
Review 45 (2024-10-10 - Rating: 5)

Review 47 (2022-11-01 - Rating: 5)
Great little Italian restaurant, superb food and nice atmosphere. It was fairly early when we arrived so not busy at all but soon filled with early evening diners. We had pizza which had a great base and the sauce was fantastic with plenty of toppings. The service was also great. Would definitely recommend to anybody visiting New York or even for a pre-Madison Square garden visit as its not far away. -

Review 50 (2022-05-27 - Rating: 5)
I was looking for an authentic Pizza because I was tired of the NY fast food pizza slices. Just came across this small quiet restaurant. We ordered 2 pizzas - Margherita and Capizzi combination no 3. Both pizzas were fantastic and tasted perfect. I would definitely visit again in my next trip. -
Review 51 (2021-12-31 - Rating: 5)
One of my favorite local pizza spots for a personal size pizza. They use a wood-fire oven that gives the crust a naturally baked taste. One of their most popular pizzas - Margherita - is perfect for vegetarians in your group. If you are looking to eat in the diving room is a nice alternative between stand up pizza slices and long-style Italian meal restaurants. Friendly staff. -
Review 52 (2024-12-10 - Rating: 4)

Review 53 (2024-07-05 - Rating: 5)

Capizzi: A Slice of Naples in the Heart of ManhattanNestled in the bustling streets of Manhattan, Capizzi is a hidden gem that transports you straight to the sun-soaked coast of Naples. This charming Italian eatery has quickly become my go-to spot for authentic Neapolitan pizza and a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like coming home.A Pizza ParadiseThe star of the show at Capizzi is undoubtedly their pizza. I had the pleasure of indulging in their arugula and prosciutto pizza, and it was nothing short of a revelation. The crust was perfectly thin and crispy, with just the right amount of char from the wood-fired oven. The toppings were a testament to quality ingredients – the arugula was fresh and peppery, while the prosciutto melted in my mouth with its delicate saltiness. Its clear that Capizzi takes pride in sourcing top-notch, native Italian ingredients, and it shows in every bite.Nonnas Living RoomWhat sets Capizzi apart from other NYC pizzerias is its utterly charming decor. Stepping inside feels like walking into the cozy living room of an Italian grandmother. The walls are adorned with vintage family photos, mismatched frames, and rustic knick-knacks that create a homey, lived-in feel. The wooden tables and chairs add to the rustic charm, making you feel as if youve been invited to a family dinner in Naples rather than dining out in New York City.Service with a SmileThe wait staff at Capizzi deserve a special mention. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality. Their attentiveness throughout the meal was impeccable, striking the perfect balance between being present and allowing diners to enjoy their meal undisturbed.A Sweet SurpriseAs if the experience wasnt already perfect, the staff at Capizzi went above and beyond by surprising me with a complimentary tiramisu for dessert. And let me tell you, it was hands down the best tiramisu Ive ever had in my life. The espresso notes were top notch. This unexpected gesture of generosity left an indelible impression and ensured that Capizzi will remain a favorite in my NYC dining repertoire.Final ThoughtsCapizzi is more than just a restaurant; its an experience that captures the essence of Italian hospitality and culinary tradition. From the mouthwatering pizzas to the cozy ambiance and exceptional service, every aspect of my visit was a delight. Whether youre a native New Yorker or a visitor to the city, Capizzi is a must-visit destination for anyone craving an authentic taste of Naples in the heart of Manhattan. Trust me, you wont be disappointed! -

Small family run gem! We have always been lucky to walk in but there’s usually a line. They do take reservations. Traditional and creative choices made to perfection. Sangria is a must. We have moved south but visit every year and they always remember us. -

Have been meaning to try Capizzi for years. Finally did and very glad we did. It was busy. Reservations are only accepted in advance, not the same day. So we arrived around 7pm on a Friday. Wait time wad about 15 mins. Small cozy spot with about 12 tables. We each had a personal sized pizza. Delicious!!! Dessert also delicious. Nice staff and fast service. -
Review 85 (2023-04-26 - Rating: 4)

Review 87 (2024-01-05 - Rating: 4)
My visit to Capizzi in NYC was a mix of good and not-so-good experiences. We initially called to make a reservation, but were informed that they only accept walk-ins and were told to expect a 10-15 minute wait. However, upon arrival, we ended up waiting outside for about 45-50 minutes, which was quite disappointing and dampened our mood.Once we got inside, the ambiance of the place did make up for some of the initial frustration. The restaurant is cozy and has a welcoming vibe. The highlight of our visit was definitely the pizza. The Pizza Margherita, in particular, was outstanding and I would highly recommend it.The server was another positive aspect of our experience at Capizzi. She was very polite and kind, maintaining a smile throughout our visit despite being visibly busy. She even apologized for the long wait, explaining that she was handling both table cleaning and serving.Although the long wait was a significant downside, the quality of the pizza and the courteous service have convinced me to give Capizzi another try in the future. Hopefully, my next visit will be a bit smoother in terms of waiting time. -

Cute little place to duck into in Hell’s kitchen. Service was great, and the vibes in the place are adorable. Overall good pizza (we split one, it was enough but not overly filling—some people would definitely not think it’s enough).Only complaint is that the gluten free crust cost $7 extra which I didn’t read on the menu. That’s so much especially for a smaller pizza. It’s decent crust, nothing worth returning for specifically though.Overall would return if in the area but for the price don’t think it’s really great for those in need of gluten free. -
Review 89 (2023-09-07 - Rating: 5)
This is such a beautiful restaurant! The servers are fantastic and the food is excellent. We had a pepperoni pizza and the mushroom truffle pizza. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend getting the sparkling lemonade as well!During our visit, we had an unruly person enter and refuse to leave the restaurant. The staff dealt with it beautifully, and the blight does not leave a poor impression. They were able to get police involved, but without causing too much of a scene (the scene was inevitable, as the restaurant is quaint in size). Great work, servers of 8.24.23! -

Review 104 (2023-09-29 - Rating: 5)
They do a very nice Napolitano-style pizza. The crust had nice flavor and was a little blackened in places, just like it should be. We paired one pizza with the fried artichoke hearts and a bottle of wine and it made a great light dinner for two.We arrived on a Friday night at 6:45pm for an early dinner and were able to be seated without waiting. By about 8:00pm, there was a small line outside waiting for tables. My only complaint is that their wine selection isnt great, especially given the quality of the pizza. They had just four varieties of wine by the bottle or glass, and the quality of what we tried was low. We had the cabernet, which was only 12.5% alcohol so didnt have much flavor. Their pizza deserves much better! -

We drove by at least 2 twice daily going to and from the Fancy Food Show. Our last night in NY, we decided to dine out in a neighborhood restaurant. So glad we did!!! Capizzi is a neighborhood gem and lucky for us we were able to walk in and fleet a table. We only know the servers Will and Jeffrey they were attentive polite and not preoccupied on their phones. You know its always good when treated as welcomed guests and not like pesky bother. The whole experience was just perfect. We had the fried artichoke appetizer, fennel and orange salad, loaded pizzas with and without meat and great conversation and sometimes with Will, our server. From what we could see, its a small staff of 5 but things are perfectly choreographed to produce delicious food and service without disappointment. Its the place you want to visit at least once a week.No photos just a lovely experience! -
Review 106 (2023-03-31 - Rating: 5)
To start of, the atmosphere here is comforting and is a great place to make good memories. Second of all the pizzas here are one of a kind , reason why is because there pizzas have this beautiful crust with this amazing sauce and the delicious mozzarella. Last of all the waiters here are very friendly because they will help you out if you have any questions and just overall great. Just to end this off, I will come back if I get to chance to and eat more of there delicious pizzas! -

I recently visited this restaurant where I had the pleasure of trying their Prosciutto Pizza and Rice Balls with Tomato Sauce. Let me start by saying that the Prosciutto Pizza was out of this world! It was wood-stoved, and though we had to wait for 10 minutes, it was definitely worth the wait. The crust was perfectly crispy and thin, and the toppings were generous and flavorful. The prosciutto added a delicious salty flavor, and the combination of ingredients was simply divine. In addition, I also had the Rice Balls with Tomato Sauce as an appetizer, which was also delicious. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the tomato sauce was rich and flavorful. It was a great complement to the Prosciutto Pizza, and I enjoyed every bite.Overall, I had a great experience at this restaurant, and I would definitely visit again for the Prosciutto Pizza. It was truly one of the best pizzas I have ever had! If you are a pizza lover, this restaurant is definitely worth checking out. -

There are some Italian restaurants that just give you a very warm and homey vibe, and @capizzinyc is one of them! Their food are straightforward and with a homemade warmth to them. Service was great too!The pizza was nice but the eggs did make the dough soggy. Caesar salad was not overloaded with dressing but with a good amount of fresh cheese. Very refreshing! -

Friday Sept22/23. My son Tony, daughter-in-law and i went to Capizzi for supper. I have mobility issues and use a walker but even with a walker I cant go up and down stairs. A vey kind and patient server (not sure he might have been the owner he was wearing a red shirt) helped me up the stairs and helped me walk to my chair. Very consider it and patient. Weve been to Capizzi a few times and the the has always been exceptional and perfect. I would definitely suggest the fennel salad and all the pizzas are delicious. We ordered 3 different ones and they were all delicious. I would greatly recommend this restaurant.Thank youDolores Ulc -

I am in a mission to find a Neapolitan pizza in the US and I passed here to try.The pizza was delicious, ingredients perfect but the dough and cooking far from the Neapolitan pizza (it was very crunchy and less salad). We are close to the Italian style… and if you want to have a good pizza, I suggest it -

Great food and friendly staff. The lighting, decore, and music were very relaxing. Its definitely not 99 cent pizza, so if youre looking for something cheap and quick to fill you up, this probably isnt the place. However, if youre in the mood for a sit-down restaurant with a great atmosphere and are willing to splurge a bit, I would strongly recommend checking Capizzi out. -

We were visiting from out of town and had to try all the good food NYC is known for. We stumbled across this diamond in Hell’s Kitchen and had to give it a try. Absolute amazing food, service, and atmosphere. I’m not crazy about NYC’s constant hustle and bustle but I’d consider moving there strictly for the endless variations of amazing food. We fell in love with this spot! -

What a fantastic place finally in NY. The pizza was out of this world, service beyond expectations and wonderful spinach rice balls. Being vegetarians there was plenty to choose from. Even their homemade sangria was great. It is worth the little walk over from times square. It is a small place so make sure you get your place here for dinner. Thanks Rushona for making us very cheerful at dinner. -

A nice and quiet place. Good food, fresh ingredients. Very Italian atmosphere. The only thing I didnt like is that I had lunch around 2.30pm, I got my usual text notification with the correct charge (including tip). Then, about 8 hours later I got another text with another charge. I called the place, explained everything and they said they were going to call me (its been already 3 days). Just be aware when paying the bill if you see something unusual -

Wouldn’t say the pizza is “the best in NYC” or anything, to be honest, but it was still great and I’d recommend. The service was good, the servers were very friendly, and the prices were reasonable. It was somewhat busy but we only had to wait 10-15 minutes or so for a table on a week night. -

Review 171 (2017-11-30 - Rating: 4)
Some of the best pizza Ive experienced in the area. Prices are on the higher end. Its a very small place and we were fortunate to arrive right before about 15 people in small groups showed up in the span of about 5 minutes, and had to wait. The service was great. The beer selection was terrible; they should have offered some local or Italian beers. Even so, I would definitely return here. -
Review 172 (2022-12-10 - Rating: 5)
Whoever wrote they got attitude and bad service, doesnt have a clue. Clearly this place seats limited diners, is serviced by one waitress, one cook and an assistant and the previous complainant needs to stick with Waffle House. The waitress rocks, the cook knows his way around a real wood fire brick oven and the food is as good and authentic as it gets. Capizzi rocks! Keep up the great work!! 6 stars. -

Ive been twice now and I have had a delicious experience every time! It is a nice, quite intimate setting with great staff. Ive gotten the margarita pizza with organic chicken cutlet and it always hits the spot. All the pies are personal size (12 inches) which is the perfect size especially for everyone to share slices from their own pie. I look forward to coming back soon! -

I do not know if the delivery or dine-out experience is different but personally if you are willing to spend a lot of money for some amazing pizza, go for it come here.
