First of all, our server Paige is an absolute gem! She is very attentive and I wanted for nothing because whatever I needed would simply materialize on the table. She is very welcoming and friendly and, most importantly, she laughed at my jokes! Lol!!I ordered PAPPARDELLE (spiced lamb sausage, caramelized fennel, castelvetrano olives, san marzano tomatoes, pecorino). Every single bite was bursting with flavor! The spiced lamb sausage and sauce were seasoned perfectly and the house made noodles were were exquisitely cooked! If Im ever lucky though to return to New York then Im definitely stepping by and having this again! My table ordered the SHAVED CELERY SALAD (toasted pistachios, parmigiano, dates). Now, I cant stand celery but I found myself going back for seconds (I always try food before deciding whether or not I like it). The pistachios with the parmigiano was so delightful that I want it in every salad! We also ordered ENGLISH PEAS (whipped ricotta, pickled pearl onion, spring herb oil, green peppercorn) we used to spread over sourdough bread and we ordered HEIRLOOM SWEET POTATOES (preserved lemon, labneh, sesame, mojo verde). The peas were a big hit with the table and the sweet potatoes were gone in a blink of the eye. I really enjoyed the crispy outside of the potatoes which gave them a great texture and crunch. It was my nieces birthday that night. They were kind enough to bring her COCONUT SORBET (cardamom caramel, toasted coconut, honeycomb toffee, vanilla salt). Even though she shared it with the entire table, I, unfortunately, didnt have any (people had been using spoons they already had eaten from and I dont partake when that happens). From the table talk I heard, it was incredible! For my dessert, and ordered by everyone else at the table, was STICKY DATE CAKE (salted crème fraîche gelato, toffee sauce). Lets see, how do I describe this? Is it good enough of a description to say that it was like tasting heaven? Is it accurate enough to say that the flavor was so incredible that it was like a universe was blooming into existence using my taste buds as a catalyst? I dont know if those descriptions are good enough to explain how exemplary the flavor was! All I do know is that if I had to spend every last cent I ever had or ever will have to generically modify my DNA so I could persist on only the Sticky Date Cake for the rest of my life then I would gladly do it! -

Had such a good dinner here. Food was amazing, as was the service. We loved sitting by the bar to watch the preparation and meet the chef. The celery salad, tempura squash, and sticky date cake were personal favorites. We’ll be back! -

Yummy American/NYC style pasta at @colonienyc ! Much heavier seasoning compared to Italy, but nevertheless savory and satisfying. Date cake is a popular dessert there - great texture and I would recommend eating it with the ice cream since it’s super duper sweet! -

Lovely brunch spot with delicious food! We had to wait a bit for our food to come out (45-50min), but the waitstaff was super nice and attentive. Really great Turkish eggs — delicious spot! -

Look no further for your next dinner outing! Start with one of the delicious tequila cocktails, must have the Crudo and the Squash tempura (we didn’t think the mushroom toast was a must contrary to other reviews). I feel you can’t go wrong with any of the pastas but the mushroom and rigatoni might be the best. The duck was ok; if we had a redo I think we’d prefer the Bison steak. Lastly, sit at the chef counter! -

Brought my parents here for my father birthday, a few friends of mine highly recommended it and they did not disappoint. The staff was really friendly and helpful. They even signed a card when bringing out my dads pastry singing happy birthday which I thought was a very sweet gesture. Would def come back! Everything we ordered was delicious. -

Came here for my birthday dinner—we walked in around 7 on a thursday night and were seated at the chefs counter (highly highly recommend if you’re into food/cooking). my boyfriend has *a lot* of food allergies and they were super knowledgeable and aware.we got the whipped ricotta with strawberries and heirloom tomatoes, the celery salad, campanelle with hen of the woods mushrooms, and the steak (I rarely eat red meat but this was so worth it)the chefs were so sweet and it was a joy to watch them cook! one of the best meals i’ve had in a really long time.(my only downside was that I was pretty underwhelmed by both cocktails I got, but that might just be a function of my personal taste!) -
Review 10 (2024-07-09 - Rating: 5)
7 of us celebrated my birthday last week. What an amazing place this is! Great management and attentive help throughout the evening. We were able to taste most of the menu and everyone shared. The halibut was the favorite as well as the pastas! The drinks were creative and refreshing! We will definitely be back! -

Have to order the right dishes and you’ll have a fantastic meal!!! And they make a lot of stuff way too salty.. ask them to tone it down when you order if you don’t like things overly salty !!Things I’d order again- mushroom crostino- corn app- carrots- dates (FYI dates are very sweet but yogurt balances well)- mushroom campanelleDuck dish too saltyAlso it’s rly hot inside the restaurant .. likely because it’s an open kitchen.. I’d come prepared to take layers off or put them on I was sweating -

With so many options in nyc we find ourselves usually looking for new places rather than going back to somewhere we’ve tried. THIS is the exception, we take every visitor we have to this spot for their weekend brunch. The best French toast I’ve ever had?! And the Turkish eggs are amazing. Also recommend the fresh squeezed OJ & the biscuits. -

Amazing spot in downtown BK. Food was delicious and service was great. Sat by the chef counter and just being able to see them prepare everything was phenomenal. Chef was very helpful with his recommendations. Will definitely be coming back to this joint. -
Review 14 (2024-03-17 - Rating: 5)
Great service, delicious food, and lovely atmosphere. They have a nice space indoors, and plenty of room indoors, especially at the bar. I can highly recommend their pasta creations. -
Review 15 (2024-12-20 - Rating: 5)
DELICIOUS. The restaurant layout is a little chaotic and packed very densely but the food was worth it. I might get it to go next time but it was delightful and the chefs were clearly passionate about their food. 9/10 -
Review 16 (2025-01-01 - Rating: 5)
Always great food and good vibes. We love watching the chefs cook at the chefs counter. Always get the sticky toffee pudding! -
Review 17 (2021-08-22 - Rating: 5)
Good vibe, and good food. The mushroom pate was a bit oversalted but was otherwise really tasty, as was the french toast. They get busy right after opening, at least on the weekend, so if you are not there at that point you might be waiting 30+ minutes for a table. -
Review 18 (2022-06-16 - Rating: 4)
Diverse menu with great choices. Enjoyed and recommend starting with the mushroom pate with sumner truffles with the Supply Chain cocktail with ginger liqueur . Wide variety of cocktails and selections of pasta. -
Review 19 (2024-11-02 - Rating: 5)
This was the second time came here, food was amazing! We had 3 small plates and 1 large ( forgot to take a pic)1. ARCTIC CHAR CRUDO ( fish) sour, sweet, tender of the fish, one scoop all flavors blast into your mouth.2. MUSHROOM PATÉ 100% reviewers and staff recommend, its like mushroom cream cheese, one bite so satisfying!!3. GOLDEN BEETS I never had that kind of flavor before. I was not sure I like it or not at the very first and second try, after I had candied walnuts, I love it!Large plate we had a MAGRET DUCK BREAST, came with fries. I enjoyed each bite of the duck meat!Dessert we had STICKY DATE CAKE, must try! sweet but not that sweet, sea salt balanced the sweet part, love it love it!Overall, 10/10, friendly staff, amazing food, ambient also amazing! Ill be back! -
Review 20 (2023-09-25 - Rating: 5)
Nice, chic, restaurant on Atlantic Avenue. There is a bar up front and most of the food tables in the back. The kitchen is open in the dining room around the tables. It’s nicely decorated and the smells are oh so good. But you have to be ok with that. The menu is excellent- but very limited. They have four pastas and three main dishes. Plus appetizers. The halibut was excellent though it is served nouveau style. The pastas are also excellent.Highly recommended but make sure there is something you want to eat first. -
Review 21 (2023-11-24 - Rating: 5)
Food was amazing, servers were extremely knowledgeable! It’s a fairly small establishment and tables are close to one another but that’s the beauty of NY. -
Review 22 (2018-06-10 - Rating: 5)
Very good food, with higher than average prices but that did not come with a smaller plate size, which is nice. The service was friendly and quick, so I sat at the bar so thats to be expected.Things to try:Beet appetizerDuck dish -
Review 23 (2023-12-06 - Rating: 5)
Suuuuuch great food. Get all of the starters because they’re incredible, but also have some pasta because it’s also amazing. But the date cake for dessert is the real star here. -
Review 24 (2023-04-16 - Rating: 5)
Better than 99.9% of restaurants I’ve been to in Manhattan and where I bring all of my out of town guests. Mushroom pate and the crab pasta are a must but save room for the sticky date cake. Sit at the chef’s counter if you can for a fun experience. Colonie never disappoints!! -
Review 25 (2024-07-09 - Rating: 5)
I recently visited this place on a Friday night and sat at the chefs counter with a friend. The seating lets you see all the kitchen action without it being too loud to talk. We started with the mushroom pate, which had a nice balance with the crusty bread. My entree, the campanelle, was perfectly cooked and had a light citrusy sauce. For dessert, the sticky date cake was warm and rich, especially good with the gelato. -
Review 26 (2024-11-07 - Rating: 5)
Quite possibly one of the best meals I’ve had in my 4+ decades on this planet! Every single bite that touched my tongue was better than the last. I highly recommend sitting at the chef’s table! Chef Kone engaged us throughout our entire experience. He answered any questions we had, told us a little about his background and even sent over a little snack for us to try. Chef Kone was also so kind and super friendly. He even came around the counter to hug us before we left…so sweet! The lighting, noise level and decor were perfect. I’m an interior designer so you know I was paying attention. The simplicity of the wood, steel and brick accents were a great choice.Let’s talk about the food! The ‘Market Lettuces’ was pure perfection! The amount of cheese they add to the top sang to me! The golden beets and delicata squash tempura…amazing! While I may have not had much room for dessert, we ordered it anyway. Highly suggest the vanilla panna cotta and coconut sorbet. Both were a dream!A Birthday card was brought over by our server which the whole staff signed for me! What a great touch! I typically don’t like attention at restaurants for birthdays but this was subtle and classy. The entire staff was welcoming, friendly and the perfect amount of attentive. Thank you so much…can’t wait to come back! -
Review 27 (2024-08-28 - Rating: 5)
Literally the perfect restaurant. Open kitchen, exposed brick, comfortable, elegant atmosphere. Had the duck which was incredible and they have really good drinks. Will be back. A lot! -
Review 28 (2024-11-07 - Rating: 5)
How do you put into words what your tastebuds are feeling when the meal is one of the best you’ve had in your 42 years of life? From the moment we entered we were impressed, the design & decor are beautiful and the staff were friendly. We ate at the chef counter and it was INCREDIBLE! Chef Kone was not only extremely talented but also so kind. He is one of the rare chefs where you can actually taste the love he pours into his food. Everything we ate just got better and better throughout the evening. I highly recommend saving room for dessert! This will be on my to do list every time I visit NY! -

Cute place! Just got dessert and a drink with a friend. Atmosphere was super chill and all of the workers were really nice. We got/shared the sticky date cake and it was so good but so sweet be warned! Not to say it wasn’t delicious. Would probably go back to try dinner there sometime. -

Beautiful restaurant with stunning food - a nice twist on Italian favorites and lots of focus on vegetables with their dishes. Loved the scallop pasta and the duck! -
Review 34 (2022-09-05 - Rating: 5)
Great food. The blue crab fazzoletti was great. Its creamy and the pasta is fresh and has great texture. The watermelon chili margarita was great, especially in this summer heat. It wasnt too spicy and hit the spot. -

Came here for my birthday dinner with my Fiancée. Essence made us feel more than welcome and took our dining experience from great to more than we could’ve hoped for. Actually the entire staff was kind, generous, and engaging. Every one we interacted with that night was warm and welcoming. The vibe for a weekday dinner was amazing. The food and drinks were wonderful!!! I’m going on a tangent but I would highly recommend, and will definitely be back! Thank you so much for a lovely evening. -

This restaurant is a MUST EAT! No matter what you order, I guarantee you’ll be mind blown. Each time I go, I order new things and they continue to impress.Would most highly recommend the runner beans, tagliatelle w/ lump crab, and bison steak. And the sticky date cake is to die for.The ambiance was fantastic and sit at the chef’s table if you can! -
Review 44 (2023-09-12 - Rating: 5)
My husband and I dined here during our visit to NYC. We came from the Cincinnati area and it was our first visit to the city. When planning the trip, Colonie caught my eye so we decided to give it a try. I’m so glad we did, because it quickly turned into the absolute highlight of our trip and was an evening we won’t forget. The service is outstanding - each individual host made us feel like family. We were never short beverages, and our space at the chefs table was kept tidy at all times - no empty plates left behind. The sous chefs are impossibly talented at what they do and gave every single plate attention and care before it left their sight. And lastly, the Chef is a true artist and extremely kind, humble person. We were delighted when he walked over to pay a visit as it was our anniversary dinner. The food is layered with exquisite, complimentary flavors that are refined and articulate but also make these dishes relatable, familiar, and remarkable at the same time.As a couple traveling foodies, I can without a doubt say this is one meal you don’t want to miss when you visit NYC. I’m just waiting to visit again and see a Michelin star outside the entrance. Forever a staple every time we return to the city. Thanks Chef and crew for an unforgettable experience. -
Review 45 (2023-06-10 - Rating: 5)
My hands-down favorite brunch spot. Ive had almost everything on the menu, and its all phenomenal. The chefs and waitstaff are so nice and its a diverse kitchen. The drinks are delicious (virgin bloody mary is my go to). Depending on when you go, theres a good chance youll have a wait, but the wait is worth it. Do yourself a favor and get the Turkish eggs, mushroom pate, eggplant crostine...Ill stop before I just list the whole menu. Need to get myself there for dinner. -

We had an outstanding dinner at Colonie last night!!! We went with my parents and they said it was one of the best meals of their life. Its our 6th time dining there and it just gets better and better! thank you to our server Ken for A+ service and for making our experience so wonderful. -
Review 52 (2024-03-23 - Rating: 5)
If I had to choose my last meal on earth, it would almost certainly be at Colonie.I love the pasta, the appetizers are decisions, the veggie side dishes are superb. And brunch here is fantastic - it’s not the same dishes you see on everyone else’s menu, but it’s also not so precious that it’s off putting. The staff here is friendly and knowledgeable, the room feels great. It’s just all around superb.Pro tip: If you can, sit at the chef’s table in back. You’ll get to watch longtime chef Kone and his team work their magic. It’s like watching a ballet, they move so smoothly together. If there’s no room at the chef’s table, the two booths up front get great sunshine at brunch time. But really, you can’t go wrong. -

Absolutely wonderful experience with food, ambience and service. -
Review 54 (2023-05-02 - Rating: 5)
Absolutely great experience all around. The food is always delicious, but for my wifes birthday I dropped a small note in my reservation and they went above and beyond. Custom menus with her name on it, every staff member wished her a happy birthday, and just excellent service. Cant recommend enough. -
Review 55 (2024-02-07 - Rating: 5)
10/10. Divine decor. Exceptionally friendly staff. Delicious food. Can’t wait to go back. -
Review 56 (2023-11-23 - Rating: 4)
Overall, would dine here again. Brunch meals were on the smaller side but still filling and very flavourful. I am wary of restaurants that say they source locally but dont have reference to any of the farms/suppliers. -
Review 57 (2024-12-17 - Rating: 5)
Food here is excellent, the atmosphere: a bit crowded, tables are too close even for any small talk, and the back area is too darkly lit, but cozy. The staff here is very professional. We were a group of three - a Professor, a Dept Admin., and a PhD student. Everyone left happy, including the bill payer, except the bill payer was a bit shocked. The fig dessert w chocolate was so good, it made everything worthwhile. -
Review 58 (2023-12-11 - Rating: 5)
One of my absolute favorite restaurants. I don’t live in the city anymore, but we make a point to come back here every time we visit. Especially love the brown butter ceviche, the crab pappardelle, and the sticky date cake. -
Review 59 (2024-04-20 - Rating: 5)
LOVED this place! The atmosphere was warm and the service was even better, highly recommend for a date night or an early dinner with your bestfriend. -
Review 60 (2023-10-03 - Rating: 5)
A Brunch Dream at ColonieSometimes you stumble upon a place that not only meets your brunch expectations but wildly exceeds them. Colonie is such a gem. From the get-go, the ambiance hinted at the culinary delights that were to follow. And then came the food. The celery salad was a refreshing symphony of flavors, while the Turkish eggs were nothing short of exquisite. Each bite was a revelation, leaving me in awe of the creativity and precision that went into crafting these dishes. But what truly set the experience apart was the mimosa. Made with freshly squeezed orange juice, it was the epitome of refreshment, each sip transporting me to a sunlit orchard. Its rare to find a place that puts such thought into every element of a meal, making it truly magical. Our seating at the bar provided not just a front-row view of the bustling kitchen but also introduced us to our fantastic bartender. His attentiveness, warm personality, and spot-on suggestions added an extra layer of joy to our brunch. Its evident that hes not just serving food and drinks but curating an experience for each guest.Colonie left an indelible mark on my brunch memories. I find myself daydreaming about that perfect meal, eagerly awaiting my next visit. If youre looking for a brunch that stands out in every aspect, make your way to Colonie. Its not just a meal; its a culinary journey you wont soon forget. See you again soon! -
Review 61 (2023-08-23 - Rating: 5)
Everything was delicious but the surprising best dish of the night was the mushroom crostini. You MUST get this. We also got the lump crab tagliatelle and the duck dish. I loved the spicy kick in the pasta and it had a generous serving of crab. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes! -

The mushroom crostini is heavenly! Love this place -
Review 64 (2023-06-05 - Rating: 5)
Very nice and upscale place with excellent service, tasty creative menue and reasonable prices. I really liked their wild mushrooms, crostini, ricotta with peas, and beet salad. Be advised that their crab pasta is quite zesty, and if you dont like spicy food, you better get some other options. Very nice and romantic interior as well as comfortable seating outside. Reservation is recommended -

Koni from the kitchen is amazing. We met him on the way out and he was so genuine and welcoming. The food is also fantastic, the drinks and vibe are great. -
Review 66 (2020-01-30 - Rating: 5)
The food here was delicious and unique. The spaghetti was by far the best dish among the three dishes that my two friends and I shared. I would never put a peanut butter taste with jalapeños and lime on spaghetti, but the flavor was very inventive and left us wanting to order another. The service was phenomenal. The atmosphere was great. -
Review 67 (2024-06-22 - Rating: 5)
Brunch was excellent - my Turkish husband approves of the Turkish eggs and my cacio e pepe eggs were also eggcellent! Loved that on a Saturday morning at noon you could still get a table for this really cute spot! Dessert with brunch also a must with the sticky date pudding! -
Review 68 (2019-12-11 - Rating: 5)
The food here was absolutely great for me. My husband also enjoyed his thoroughly, although he said his shrimp and grits didnt have the Southern kick hes accustomed to. I ordered an off the menu side of eggs with my pancakes and it was no issue. A thing though is that their portions are not that fitting for the price. That juice is absolutely freshly squeezed. ! Our waiter James was so awesomesauce as well as the chef with gray hair, so sweet. Its a small but seemingly great tasting many, presuming everything is as good as what we got. Also, the staff is so diverse and its refreshing and beautiful. Go to Colonie. -
Review 69 (2023-01-22 - Rating: 5)
I am an absolute foodie. And I just spent three weeks going to different restaurants in New York and Brooklyn. Hands-down, this was my favorite restaurant and I went back three times. It is fantastic and their ingredients are top notch and they use beautiful herbs and they’re generous in portion. Their drinks are incredible. The cool hand cuke cocktail is good enough to come back for alone. I cannot say enough about the mushroom toast. My daughter and I both swooned over the Brussel sprouts which come with fresh mint and toasted almonds: exquisite. The celery salad is not to be missed. The Cacio de Pepe eggs are phenomenal as well as the Turkish eggs. I’m serious, there was nothing that wasn’t fantastic. Don’t miss this place. My hat is tipped and I offer a chefs kiss to the people that run this restaurant because they do it, right. 5 stars. I only wish I lived in Brooklyn to eat here all the time. Cheers. -

Phenomenal! I am someone who loves attention to detail, quality food and intentionality. Colonie served me exactly that, but what blew me away was the superb love and passion bartender Ray, gives to all his guests. Ask and you shall receive or know nothing about what you want and I promise you he Knows exactly what you need :) thank you so much! -

Review 74 (2022-05-16 - Rating: 5)
A friend of mine recommended me this place and I decided to have a try very random. I went on Sunday 12:30pm and waited about 15 minutes to get the bar seats for 2 people. The coffee is good! And it was very enjoyable to seat on the bar table and watch the bartender making cocktails. We waited very long time (around 30 minutes) to get our dishes, I guess they just got too many customers on weekend. The wait was worth it because both dishes I ordered are so yummy!I had Turkish eggs and nduja sausage, both are great👍 -
Review 75 (2020-01-03 - Rating: 4)
Ive never had to wait to eat at the bar, which is awesome. The cocktails are so yummy. Ive only gone for dinner service but I love the spaghetti (not your average spaghetti) which is made fresh, and ricotta toast. The decor is cozy and hip, but the space itself is narrow and when I sit at the bar, I always get bumped into and constantly feel like Im in the way. -
Review 76 (2022-04-04 - Rating: 5)
What a fabulous dinner!! Everything was excellent...interesting edgy bites of perfectly cooked pasta...the starter with sweet potatoes is a MUST. Also the spicy margarita...n the iced tea is the best we ever had...they brew it themselves Serandipity peach black tea 😍 Stellar service is the icing on the lovely cake of cool vibe that is Colonie. -

Have been to this neighborhood gem many times over the years and have never been disappointed. Recently went with a friend to weekend brunch. The food was delicious and the food service was great. Taking one star off for the attitude of the hostess who was managing the wait line and was somewhat attitudinal and rude to us both when we arrived (don’t text us that our table is ready if you then tell us to stand in a crowded bar area where there is no place to stand for 10 more minutes) and when we left (we placed our bags on the floor next to a table as we put on our coats and she loudly announced that we needed to move because she was going to seat someone there - we would have literally been gone in 10 seconds) the people she was seating were still picking up their drinks from the bar. -

One of the better brunches you can find in NYC. The food is fresh and seasonal. Very creative and absolutely delicious. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Get here early to get in line on Saturday and Sunday for brunch. Doors open at 11am but it’s popular and it is first come first serve. Enjoy! -

The food is good and unique, the service can be hit or miss Ive had amazing servers and Ive had servers that continuously reach in front of my face out of the blue without at least saying excuse me, so while I appreciate that they are trying to refill my water, it would be great to not randomly have an arm in my face, it can be done courteously. I do find that their brunch menu is kind of limited, I prefer the dinner menu and brunch elsewhere. -

Safe, socially distanced seating, appropriate for this day and age. Fantastic menu of rustic vegetables, perfectly seared scallops, and a beautiful duck breast. Save room for dessert! Extensive wine list, a few choice beers and top notch whiskey options. Solid service all around. -

Fantastic place for a romantic dinner. The décor inside is warm and inviting. We had the warm dates with labneh (by far my favorite part of the meal), duck breast, and saffron cavatelli. Each dish was well-made. The drinks we had (CREAM Soda, Shakespeare) were wonderful as well. The restaurant staff were very polite and attentive. There is outdoor seating as well. -

My girlfriend and I have frequented Colonie on a couple of occasions. Last Saturday, we just decided to walk in and boom, we were seated at the Garden Bar. What I love about this place is the amazing food and service. The staff is friendly and informative about the menu/drinks. Recommend trying at least 3 cheeses and the burger. You will not be upset! -

Ordered about half the menu: Overall the food is over salted. The toffy desert was exceptional. Enjoyed the crab pasta, the beet dish, and the celery salad. -

Amazing and delicious! I recommend sitting at the chiefs bar, in front of the line, and watching food being prepared... The chief and cooks are approachable and encourage questions. Cuisine was devine. Snaps with sliced dried ricotta are highly recommend! And the chocolate biscuit with ice cream and sauce,,, to write home about! -

Review 89 (2019-04-28 - Rating: 5)
Shared multiple small plates and had a great sample of what Colonie has to offer and was not disappointed. The buffalo burger and lamb belly also stood out. Staff was solid and the open kitchen creates a great atmosphere. Good cocktails as well. -

The brunch here is out of this world. The Turkish eggs are unlike anything Ive had and I cant wait to visit again. I really enjoyed my blood orange margarita too and the cool hand cuke drink. Both were fantastic. Even the servers were all so lovely and friendly. Highly recommend this spot and will definitely be back. -

Great place for a date night or a dinner with friends. We went with another couple and shared a bunch of different dishes which was great because we could take advantage of the great menu.Food Highlights: Sea Bass Crudo, Toasts (ricotta and sardine), Lamb Belly, Heirloom Tomato Salad, and Spicy Squid Ink Spaghetti. Would reorder all of those items in a heartbeat!Ambiance: Perfection. Great lighting, open kitchen, buzzing scene but not too loud or crowded.Highly recommend and will 100% revisit. -

When people ask what my favorite restaurants in New York City are, I always say Colonie is in my top 3 so that I dont sound too extreme, but in truth it is probably closer to 1-2. As far as places to go where getting a table is more than a pipe dream, it has little company.Everything from their vegetables, to their bread, to their noodles are some of the freshest you will ever have, and from the second you walk in you know this place is delivering on its quality instead of hype. You can tell everyone working at Colonie is proud of the establishment, and for good reason. -
Review 93 (2021-04-08 - Rating: 5)
Love the food!Scrambled egg cooked perfectly with just right amount of mascarpone, parmigiano and pepper. And the bread are cooked just right. Lettuce made everything tastes more refreshing.Love the dried chilies in the Turkish egg so much! And dill in it was just a perfect balance. Everything slightly spiced but delivers such a full and balanced flavor! -

I love all about this restaurant, the concept, the ambience, the cool vibe, the food and the service. I have always been here for brunch, and the menu is very special, with recipes you rarely find elsewhere. Apart from the burger (which is still very good, but just a burger), I would suggest to try every dish. -
Review 95 (2019-07-08 - Rating: 4)
Not much to look at from the outside, but really like the decor inside. Feels almost like you are in a backyard with stone walls. While the place is small, tge high ceilings give you tgat sense of being out in the open. Food was very delicious. Love the crostini, the mushroom pate with the meyer lemon was a great surprise - balanced earthiness of mushrooms with bright sweet and tart bite of lemon sliver. Tge vegetable course was very good as well. The fried cauliflower were more sauteed, thankfully with no apparent batter, so they were light, had an umami burst of flavor. The snap peas needed a more creamy and salty ricotta salata as they were good, but paled in comparison to the cauliflower. The entrees were well prepared. The artic char was perfectly cooked. The only reason i am giving 4 stars as overall the place was very loud. I was at a table of ten, and beyond the the 2 people i was suyting directly nextvto, bery difficult to have a conversation, even with the two next to me. Service also felt a bit rushed at times and then sluggish at others, so a bit inconsistent. But overall again, i definitely enjoyed food and can easily see myself coming back to sample some if the other items on the menu. -

Wow, I have never been blown away by a brunch dish like the Turkish eggs here! I wouldnt have thought to pair eggs with yogurt, but it works *so* well. The service was friendly and personable and the wait times were reasonable (especially given how busy they were). I will absolutely return! -

Took a while but finally made it over to Colonie to see for myself what’s going on.Meal?Sunday brunchNumber of people in our party?Table for twoOutdoor Seating?Yes - sidewalk and street seating. Socially distanced tables with room for approximately 30 people in total. Most tables are fully covered with large, outdoor umbrellas or outdoor tenting. The space is thoughtfully sectioned off from the street with window boxes. What’d we order to eat?•Turkish Eggs•Cacio e Pepe ScrambleWhat’d we order to drink?•Bloody Mary•Last Word•Iced Coffee•Chili Margarita (x2)Things to note?•nice staff•small portions•must wear masks when ordering•small menu•masks and hand sanitizer available•staff adheres to all COVID-related guidelinesThe Turkish Eggs had incredible flavor - the dish itself is beautifully displayed and is accompanied by 4 pieces of toasted bread for dipping. This was by far the standout of the meal - it was outstanding and could have easily eaten two servings of this. The Cacio e Pepe got a thumbs up from my friend. The Bloody Mary was eh... and not as described on the menu, aka - it was missing some stuff. Very average and could have used more flavor - aside from ONE piece of lemon, there were no garnishes to be found anywhere; no olive, no celery no flavored rim, etc. Give that cocktail some TLC! After that, I switched to the Last Word, which was a better choice. The Chili Margarita was also tasty and their iced coffee had some strength to it - it’s served in a pint glass. When we sat down, I overheard one of the staff speaking with a customer about this being their first day open for brunch and it’s not yet been advertised just yet, however, they have been open for dinner. The overall experience was good and the vibe was right. Yes, I’d go back but for dinner. -

Classy, upscale wine bar with a fantastic selection of all kinds of beer & spirits. The exposed brick ,candle light & earth tones make you feel warm & welcomed. If youre looking for something nice for a first date or an after party to catch up with friends until they close ,its really a special venue & very much Brooklyn. -

Go for the dollar oysters between 5:30 and 7. Its a solid spot for brunch as well. I love what they do with their veggies. They always make them really delicious and interesting. Recently, I had the cauliflower with anchovies, capers and parmesan and the brussel sprouts with bacon and cranberries. I might put that on my Thanksgiving menu. -

Has covered outside dining with heat lamps, so even on cold nights you can be comfortable and enjoy a great meal. The standouts of our meal was the brussel sprouts and the saffron cavatelli.Wasn’t a big fan of the prosciutto, but the saffron cavatelli was amazing and could have eaten 5 bowls of it -

Very popular weekend brunch spot for locals. If you like to see a kitchen hustle get a seat at the counter, although be prepared to see some heat if service is slow or theres a breakdown in the line. The food is definitely good, but they will run out of certain dishes depending on how crazed it is. -

Look no further than Colonie for your next (small group) brunch in Brooklyn. I don’t even know how to begin describing the biscuits. SO GOOD, even in all caps, doesn’t do these beauties justice. The Biscuit Benedict, therefore, is out of this world. We sat at the chef’s counter and watched the magic take place, and were not at all deterred by the ingredients or cooking methods – which is saying something for a southern-comfort style breakfast. The Duck Hash was incredible, and we had the fluffy cast-iron baked pancakes to share as an appetizer.Drinks are delicious, too. Try the cucumber refresher martini and the blood orange margarita. You will thank me (and Colonie)! -
Review 106 (2013-07-17 - Rating: 5)
Absolutely loved this place; a menu that looks slight on first glance (appetisers, small plates, large plates, cheese) turns out smash after smash. The best quality ricotta with honey and bread. Three kinds of cheese. Creamy oysters. Pan-fried brussels sprouts with bacon and cherries; absolutely delicious. The foods some of the best Ive ever eaten in New York, and the beautiful decor (inside plants, dark wood tables, industrial lighting) adds to the relaxed atmosphere. -

Dont let the lack of signage or fancy door fill you... This place is legit. Every item on the menu was ridiculously good. Somewhat pricey, but not compared to a big city steakhouse. These chefs, servers and patrons are foodies. They know they culinary scene and have it nailed. Everything was unreal and the ambiance was so warm and inviting. I would go back for the mushroom patte alone. Just unreal. -

Popular brunch stop fills up quick, open late 11am, well presented food comes out quick, place was full by 11.30, no espresso just plunger and filter coffee, duck waffle was great to start with but by the end the saltiness of the duck was overbearing and could use an extra egg to balance out the volume of potato. pleasant environment with open kitchen. -

Always great for a burger. Was pleasantly surprised by the brunch. The cocktails are also great!
