This little place with a very compact menu offers lots of delicious flavors. We ordered the corn bread, yuca con ají amarillo, ceviche, dumplings with short ribs, and the pernil. The ceviche was fresh and the camote mousse complemented the flavors very well. The corn bread at first without butter needed a touch of sweetness, but once you put on the whipped sweet butter it was delicious. The pernil had the flavors of traditional Dominican cuisine. The yuca was crispy outside and soft inside. The ají amarillo was a delicious addition to them. The ratio of dumplings to the meat was of. There was three times the amount of dumplings to the meat, but once I made the server aware, he quickly brought more meat and the dish a perfect balance of sweet dumplings and the rich meat. We finished the meal with capuchino and tres leches cake which was velvety and flavorful. Our server, Brandon, was courteous, professional and tended to our needs and made the experience very enjoyable Highly recommended.

We had an awesome time dining at Contento. Chef Asia Shabazz‘s menu was planned and executed to perfection - everything we got was a hit at our table. Hector was also attentive and super patient with our group. Atmosphere was great too!! Will definitely be back!!

  • Review 3 (2023-12-21 - Rating: 4)

The food and drinks are great with a twist to traditional Peruvian cuisines. My only complaint was the reservation process. They stated that nothing was available inside at the requested slot (6pm) so we had to show up earlier (5:30pm). We did but the restaurant was empty for 2 full hours, inside and outside seating. That was a bit odd. Besides that, the food and service was fantastic! Vicente was very knowledgeable of the menu, highly recommend any of his recommendations.

We were here on opening night and had the asparagus appetizer, short rib with peanut sauce, salmon with barley salad, and chocolate mousse. Everything was absolutely delicious, and it all paired wonderfully with the creative cocktail selection and varied wine list. The chocolate mousse is the best I’ve ever had—probably the best in Manhattan. And all of the dishes had a terrific mixture of flavors and textures that epitomize “fusion.” They had a beautiful outdoor set up for outdoor dining, and indoor dining was available as well. Truly a special evening.

  • Review 5 (2021-09-04 - Rating: 5)

One of the best wine lists I’ve seen. Overall a beautiful dining experience with options for everybody. We ordered the octopus, shrimp, and duck leg for two and it was the perfect portion. The duck was fall off the bone and side salad was the perfect complement. The shrimp was a great taster and packed a punch.More importantly you could tell that everything in the restaurant was meticulously designed. From the accessible entrance, to adaptive flatware available, it was clear that the comfort and ambiance of the restaurant was top of mind.Would come back here again when visiting, definitely worth the try!

Come happy, leave Contento!!Great dining experience, paired with unparalleled warm and friendly service that make you feel at home.We enjoyed the Salmon Tiradito, Short Ribs w/ Udon and Pato con Arroz. Ending on a sweet note, with their signature Corn Cake (sweet and salty) - addicting combination. Can’t wait to join them again. The interior design is 100% accessible and I commend them for providing such an experience in NY.

Had a wonderful dining experience at Contento, from the moment we walked in to the beautifully appointed dining space to the warm greeting by the manager (owner? Not sure), to the wonderful food and service. It was a special occasion for us, and the experience was memorable and most certainly enhanced the total meal. The wine list was deep, and a welcome diversion for another visit, but interspersed amongst the selections were short blurbs highlighting accessibility for handicapped individuals. A note also offered special utensils for those who may need them. This nod towards social inclusion was a welcome touch, and one I hope more restaurants embrace. Our bartender was hospitable, personable, and attentive, and the drinks were delicious. We also had marvelous, soft, quinoa biscuits (maybe the highlight) with piloncillo butter, cracking these open yielded a buttery steamy interior.Regular ceviche and scallop ceviche were both outstanding, and both enhanced with generous portions of Uni (15$). Octopus with a pungent, acidic black chimichurri was tender, toothsome, and the perfect vessel for that excellent and unique chimi.Badger flame beets with smoked goat gouda were a nice reprieve from the high notes of the ceviche and chimi, and the gouda brought some nice smoke and depth.Entrees were short rib over udon and pork katsu. The pork katsu was mine, and quite a large portion, with a spicy mayo, and pickled daikon. Fun bites to build for sure. The short ribs had a hint of smoke, and were exceedingly tender. A nice match to the upon, although I wanted a bit more acidity to offset the richness of the peanut sauce. Still delicious.Dessert was an olive oil cake with cherries, and nice sweet way to end a fantastic meal. And thanks and kudos to the manager for playing the song from dirty dancing, time of my life, for the celebration of mine and my wives 2 year wedding anniversary. We left with a great memory and smile on our face. Part and parcel, a wonderful experience from door to door.

Let me start by saying 5 stars doesnt even begin to do this place justice. The service is absolutely incredible, they are friendly, attentive and really add to the experience. The wine list is second to none, I was blown away at how diverse and well thought out the list was. Finally the food, everything we ate was absolutely phenomenal, from the appetizers through dessert, it was one of the most delicious meals we have ever had. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a reservation here as soon as you can, you wont be disappointed! Also, as a wheelchair user I have to mention the disability initiative for this restaurant. At most restaurants, they simply try to make it accessible, Contento goes above and beyond and shows that inclusivity is in their bones. Not only was it incredibly accessible, but I felt fully welcome and they were excited to have me. This place is special and I hope it is a model for the service industry moving forward!

  • Review 9 (2022-12-22 - Rating: 5)

Great Peruvian inspired fare, excellent wine list and cocktails. A gem of a restaurant in East Harlem built with accessibility in mind

  • Review 10 (2022-10-10 - Rating: 5)

Had a wonderful meal at Contento. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful, and the atmosphere was great. The food was fantastic - I particularly enjoyed the beets, and the short ribs on udon noodles. And on top of that, the wine list is really well considered and interesting - that made my day. Only one very minor criticism - it was very loud for the first half of the meal. Loud music plus loud chat at adjacent tables meant it was hard to have a conversation. It got better after the place thinned out a bit.

  • Review 11 (2021-08-15 - Rating: 5)

Loved the short ribs and udon noodle main. The octopus started was my favorite.Cocktails were great, interesting non alcoholic options too.

  • Review 12 (2023-05-13 - Rating: 5)

Every dish we had was more delicious than the last and beautifully presented. The staff was wonderful and had great wine and amaro suggestions to pair with our small plates and dessert. Next time I would try to make a reservation for the bar seats as the tables on the left are too brightly lit for me.

  • Review 13 (2021-10-22 - Rating: 4)

This was genuinely a spectacular restaurant. I would also think of the venue as a hidden gem. Everything , including service, was worth the visit to East Harlem. My highlight , besides the wine list, was the Nikkei Kurobuto - Pork Katsu. The crispy Yuca was very special too. I look forward to my next visit.

  • Review 14 (2023-11-21 - Rating: 5)

Fantastic bourbon list and Allison made a perfect old fashioned. And the food! Flavors and textures so well balanced--try the sunchokes and the pastel. The staff was so welcoming to a solo female traveler! 5 stars.

  • Review 15 (2024-12-06 - Rating: 5)

Wonderful little gem. Reasonable prices and delicious food. Staff are nice and seem genuinely passionate in their craft. Will definitely be back.

  • Review 16 (2021-09-30 - Rating: 5)

Drinks were delicious. Staff was incredibly kind, Katy and Jose are exceeding at their positions. The food was heavenly, I had the seared tuna steak and it was beyond delicious. I’m definitely coming back.

  • Review 17 (2021-10-13 - Rating: 4)

Really interesting menu, good cocktails, reasonable prices, and absolutely packed even on a Tuesday night. A couple of our orders were mixed up and service could be a little slow, but overall a really good experience.

  • Review 18 (2021-08-03 - Rating: 5)

A beautiful, welcoming restaurant with warm and friendly staff and great food . A great additional plus is the wheel chair accessible entrance, tables, bar and restroom. Well designed for inclusivity. Special utensils are available for those with hand disability. 💗

  • Review 19 (2023-05-27 - Rating: 5)

Amazing Peruvian restaurant! They have a great selection of wines, and fantastic food! One of the best restaurants in Manhattan, and excellent service! My new favorite restaurant in the city

  • Review 20 (2024-02-23 - Rating: 5)

I had the weeknight prix fixe meal, which was quite good. The scallop ceviche was unique and one of the best ceviches Ive had. The mussels were delicious and the chocolate flan was so silky and luxurious. The cococontento cocktail was perfection. The atmosphere is quaint and lovely. The vibe and the staff are great and the music is excellent but not too loud to enjoy dinner conversation. Definitely will return.

  • Review 21 (2024-04-09 - Rating: 4)

Service is always excellent ! Food is always good ! But if you want someone to pay $120 for a steak at least give a good cut. It is too much fat. And I’m ok with that but no when I pay so much money. The menu is small and don’t give to many options. Also the salad was tasty but the lettuce was yellow and brown. If you want to have that prices must have the best quality !

  • Review 22 (2023-12-17 - Rating: 5)

We tried several cocktails with our bartender Katie and all were incredibly delicious. We had the Ribeye for 2 for dinner and it was the best steak we’ve ever had. It was paired with delicious crisp potatoes that were absolutely mouth watering. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

  • Review 23 (2024-01-19 - Rating: 5)

Absolutely amazing, most incredible dining experience! From the service, to the atmosphere, the cocktails, every dish we tried - highlights had to be the ceviche clasico, the yakisoba, arroz con pato and every single cocktail - most favorite of all the Cococontento. This place is a MUST when visiting NYC. Much love to the owners and the staff for such a wonderful, truly unforgettable evening. We will definitely be back.

  • Review 24 (2023-03-07 - Rating: 5)

Cannot rave enough about this place. Between the excellent service, the sommelier and thoughtful wine list and phenomenal food! I will be back!

  • Review 25 (2024-04-09 - Rating: 5)

Exceptional service and delicious food with small but varied menu. Small and large plates. Impressive wine list. Nice atmosphere. White asparagus with watercress was a wonderful starter.

  • Review 26 (2023-10-10 - Rating: 5)

One of the best restaurant I’ve visited here in NYC. The food was amazing and the service perfect as well, friendly and professional.

  • Review 27 (2022-01-19 - Rating: 5)

Wonderful experience! The food was exceptional. Especially the tuna tartar, the octopus, the duck and the pork. Warm and friendly ambiance. The bartender Vicente was on point. Great drinks!!

  • Review 28 (2022-07-11 - Rating: 4)

Just found this beautiful place. Havent had the pleasure of dining there yet. The outside of this place is FABULOUS! Looking forward to actually going inside.

  • Review 29 (2024-01-04 - Rating: 5)

One my top spots in Manhattan… and it is uptown in East Harlem near my work. Upscale atmosphere, but not stuffy like many in the Upper East Side. Attentive service and phenomenal food. The ceviche and duck leg are my favorite dishes, although all are worth a try. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and wine to help recommend if needed. What stands out though and actually rare, is their bartenders Katie and Allison who have created unique drinks that go beyond the bar standards. They are excited to talk about and explain the drink giving you an educational experience on top of a great tasting cocktail. I know for many it might be out of the way or off the beaten path of most visiting NYC, but I highly recommend! They are doing some amazing things here!

  • Review 30 (2023-08-30 - Rating: 5)

Contento is a charming Peruvian influenced restaurant with delicious food and a patient staff. Their dishes are imaginative and fresh. They make great cocktails and their wine list is literally award winning. You would do yourself a big favor by heading up to 110 St for an enjoyable trip into the flavors of Peru.

  • Review 31 (2021-09-19 - Rating: 5)

Every dish had a special flavor! awesome ceviche

  • Review 32 (2023-04-24 - Rating: 4)

I came here for my birthday over the weekend with a group of 7 and did the 4 course pre fix menu. The service was great, and friendly. We sat out in their fully covered patio which they do an incredible job of decorating and making you feel you’re not eating on an nyc street. The cocktails and wine are fantastic, and pair very nicely with the food. I personally highly recommend the yuka, the short rib yakisoba, and the duck. I was so excited to give a five star rating, but the desserts looked much more flavorful than they actually were. The entire table agreed that the desserts were lacking in flavor and the olive oil cake was bland and very dry. Both the olive oil cake and cheesecake were more like palate cleansers than anything else which seemed odd for how beautiful they were. Of the desserts, the chocolate mousse was the favorite at the table. We did have a wonderful time and I do look forward to going back

  • Review 33 (2023-12-10 - Rating: 5)

This stands out as one of the best meals I had in the last year. The food was absolutely phenomenal and the service was so lovely and welcoming. They have great drinks and I look forward to coming back to try the rest of the menu.

  • Review 34 (2024-09-03 - Rating: 5)

Excellent food, a great mixture of drinks, and a twist of traditional dishes you’ll love.

  • Review 35 (2022-09-25 - Rating: 5)

I only had Peruvian food once before this. Highly recommend the cerviche, fish was so fresh! Flavours within and in all the dishes just went so well together.top class duck confit and plum sauce w rice just delicious.I don’t normally order desserts but I couldn’t help it here as the main dishes made me want more from this place. No regrets at all!The olive cake and ricotta cream w strawberry was sweet(not too sweet) creamy and again left me wanting more.Definitely visiting again.

  • Review 36 (2023-01-20 - Rating: 5)

The service was incredible. Helpful and attentive. The sommelier was knowledgeable and offered a great wine for our dinner. Three appetizers and two large plates were shared among three of us plus one dessert; we left absolutely happy. The highlights were the ceviche and the short ribs and chocolate mousse dessert. Can’t wait to return.

  • Review 37 (2023-05-07 - Rating: 5)

I’ve been to Contento twice now and both times were a hit! I didn’t take photos unfortunately, but you cannot go wrong ordering here in my experience -every dish is excellent and well thought out. I especially recommend the ceviche clásico, the yuca fries, the short ribs over udon, and the arroz con pato. The ceviche is so light, refreshing with just the right amount of tartness. The yuca fries have a great texture and I love the aji amarillo emulsion they put on top. The duck leg on the arroz con pato is delightfully crisp and flavorful and pairs well with the rice and fennel. The short rib was very tender and flavorful and the udon noodles in peanut sauce paired nicely with it. The drinks are also great and the starter of dried corn on the side they give everyone is a great and unique snack. If you want a nice meal out or a fancy date night this place will not disappoint!

  • Review 38 (2024-03-15 - Rating: 5)

I have been wanting to visit for a while and worth the wait. The food was delicious, ceviche Classico and yuca fries were on point. Husband had the NY steak frites from the weekday special and he said he was delicious. I also had the mussels and forgot to take a picture but they were also delicious. Olive oil cake reminded me of ‘rabani’ a classic Mediterranean cake with the right amount of sweetness, was also a great surprise. I don’t need to say more about the wine list because is one of the best wine list in New York, Michelin Guide have said it and Star Wine List so, been there myself I can only say is utterly great. Take some time to find a gem that speak to you. For us it was a Nathan Kendall Brut a great example of Finger Lakes Sparkling Wine.

This is a great place for wine lovers! I’ve been there twice and both times have been exceptional experiences. Yannick helped me pick out some fantastic wine and champagne which I am still thinking about the next day! The service was perfect. The bartenders Reese and Noe (sorry if I misspelled any names) were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. George and Lorenz were the warmest most wonderful hosts that ensured we had a great evening. This is a great addition to the neighborhood. I recommend making a reservation because they are getting very popular! I can’t wait to go back!

  • Review 41 (2022-05-07 - Rating: 5)

Wonderful food and wonderful service!! The best grilled octopus I have ever had, in a lifetime of ordering it (perfectly tender) with a delicious sauce to complement but not overwhelm. The duck liver mousse was also fantastic. Short ribs were excellent as well. Nice friendly service. Absolutely worth the trip!

  • Review 42 (2023-10-18 - Rating: 5)

Delicious dinner at Contento. It was the perfect start to a night out. A little pricey for the portion size but I did enjoy all the dishes. We got the ceviche, crab noodles, and short rib to split. Recommend trying the drinks!

  • Review 43 (2022-09-17 - Rating: 4)

Short menu. More small plates than main dishes. Most people will have to Google some.of the ingredients...is that a bad thing? ..Uptight staff. Good menu choices. Mighty expensive. Beer bottle is, well, a mini bottle....fancy drinks at $18...food good and fresh and creative but not the very best Ive had. Ceviche was good but better at la esquina in PR. Yucca sticks good also, been done in lots of places. Did I say they were good? Short Ribs with noodles was very good especially the meat quality, but my fresh direct prepared Asian ribs two days ago was nearly as good. Wifes mussels order also good but not as good a Maison Harlem. Fried potato cubes very good. Very noisy and I mean inappropriately loud rock-ish music.... actually measured the DB level....have not done that In a while. Table next door was one handful and two inches away....thats about ten inches. Manhattan restaurants suck because their landlords suck. But hey, this is El barrio or at least it used to be. Expensive fancy cuisine should have more character, more relaxed. Not fake friendly. And pushy and gloriously uptight. Wont return for the experience. Or for the seco de res which they didnt have in the menu....

  • Review 44 (2021-09-30 - Rating: 5)

I had been meaning to try this restaurant since I live a few blocks away, and I am so glad I finally did. The restaurant is so beautiful and cozy, the outdoor seating is lovely. All of the staff are so friendly. One of the owners came and introduced himself, and even was chatting with people from the neighborhood passing by. Everything we ate was beyond delicious. We had ceviche, octopus, katsu, yucca fries! All of the ingredients were so fresh. Even the bread was special! The cocktails were amazing and the wine by the glass selection is excellent. Incredible wine by the bottle list as well, with extremely thoughtful and intentional categories. Will absolutely be making this restaurant my local haunt and recommend this place for anyone looking for an excellent meal out.

My wife and I long considered this one of our favorite high end restaurants in the neighborhood and loved the Peruvian menu. Recently the menu was entirely revamped. We wanted to love it but unfortunately it left a lot to be desired. The service and wine were still excellent, but I don’t think we’ll be returning unless we hear the menu has changed for the better.

  • Review 47 (2021-10-16 - Rating: 5)

Incredible meal! Came for my birthday and it was such an amazing atmosphere. The tuna steak and ceviche were perfect, as well as everything else we ordered. The wine is incredible and the service is impeccable, everyone who works here is amazing.

Contento is one of those places that although is no frill, humble, and simple, the experience is extraordinary. I grew up in East Harlem and this is a place that feels like home. The food is unlike anything I’ve ever tasted (in the best way), the wine list, deserts, and cocktails are also excellent. Special shout out to Jose and Katie - the friendliest bartenders! Also notable is the accessibility of the restaurant - enough space and comfort for people in wheelchairs. 10/10 going back

  • Review 49 (2022-08-07 - Rating: 5)

As a trendy blind woman in NYC who loves her nights out, I wanted to check out what all the fuss was about with this new hip disability-owned spot.I was happy to find their indoor and outdoor seating packed to brim, but even happier that they managed to offer us a table after a very short wait. (Dont be fooled though, GET A RESERVATION!)The food (I had the salmon) was expert, the service was consistent yet unintrusive, and the Liquid Geography Rosé flowed swimmingly. However, the best part of the experience was the table-touch game of the owners/managers. Both Yannik and George came round a few times making sure we were having a great time, getting to know us, and offering us everything we needed to make the meal a memorable experience. My only constructive feedback which I mentioned would be the option of an onsite Braille menu. While they do have a screen-reader friendly website accessible by QR-code, that added element of a Braille menu would set them apart as an accessible eatery.Overall a great experience that evening!-LachiImage Description: Lachi, Yannik, George and Khadija Bari smile at the camera by Contento restaurant. Delicious good and wine experience in lower Harlem!

  • Review 78 (2021-06-20 - Rating: 5)

Went to this new restaurant down the street from me. First of all, I was happy to just have a new sit down restaurant near me. But the food is amazing! From the small plates to the large plates, everything was perfectly presented and tasted fresh and unique. The wine list is amazing, especially for this neighborhood. And the service was really top notch, with all of the team working together to make the meal special and satisfying. Their knowledge of the wine, the smiles, and their personalities...all winners for me. And the history of why they created this restaurant is inspiring as well. I cant wait to go back to obviously try more wine, but also the other food! Highly recommend :)

Ive known Yannick for quite some time and he has always carried himself with great integrity and style. Contento is an extension of all he is and does not disappoint. Delicious food with a delightful list of wines by the glass. The space is well designed. I only wish it could be larger. But for now? Perfecto!

Its a bit pricey but it sure is yummy

  • Review 82 (2023-01-06 - Rating: 5)

I give out a lot of 5* reviews on here… mostly because I love food and ILove many of the places I’ve visited for different reasons. However, this review is a true 5* rave. I’ve been here a few times and my god. This place deserves all of the accolades. I feel bad that I didn’t get their names bc they definitely deserve recognition, but I was to acknowledge the bartender and the sommelier. These women are so knowledgeable, fun and engaging. They truly made our visit. The wine selection was amazing - we had one from Armenia- delicious. I haven’t had a mediocre dish here once- that being said, my personal favorites were the pork belly, pumpkin and ceviche. Highly recommend. This restaurant first gained attention for its inclusivity- you may see wheelchairs, a service dog, etc. Lovely to see that it’s not only accommodating, but designed for this!! They really hit it out of the park with food, drinks and service here. Do yourself a favor and head up to East Harlem. I promise you, the $40 Uber ride from Brooklyn will be well spent :)

  • Review 83 (2022-05-05 - Rating: 5)

We are very thankful to have Contento in the Neighborhood! Chef Oscar, Yannick, Mara, Katie and team truly make you feel like family as soon as you sit. Personal favorites here- Yucca Fries, Short Rib Udon Noodle, Basil Meringue with Passion Fruit Couli Dessert with Blueberries (new/seasonal), and the Olive Oil Cake with Pomegranates. Katie, lead mixologist, also crafts a wonderful Mezcalrita- and I have had the distinct pleasure of draining multiple Modelo Especiales that were under one month old from production date in Mexico! Contento is truly an oasis in an otherwise sparse part of town for great dining experiences.

Dined at Contento about a week ago and I can’t wait to go back! Owners, Mira and Yannick were so hospitable and so were the staff. As soon as we walked we were greeted with an intimate atmosphere and the smell of delicious food. We tried several appetizers (the cornbread and the blue soft shell crab were easily 10/10) and enjoyed an entree each. Wonderful service, atmosphere, and food. An absolute gem!!

Insane value on the wine list, flawless hospitality, 100% accessible and inclusive space, and Peruvian-meets-French cuisine.

  • Review 97 (2023-03-27 - Rating: 4)

College chum from Oxford in the city for work squeezed in a delightful visit. Flip of the coin, and we end up at his choice of Peruvian food. While Id much preferred a pint and something more Scottish, it was a thrill to catch up and meet his lovely bride. Food was very traditional and authentic Peruvian, much as I remembered from our days visiting with his mum on holiday. Ceviche was a bit tangy for my liking, though I thoroughly enjoyed the duck.I also highly recommend the short ribs covered in a rich peanut sauceThe head chef recommended a jenga tower of pork katsu , which comes fried and with a light layer of salt, a yuzu aioli and a tangy daikon slaw that helps brighten the whole dish up with a pang of citrus.Service was impeccable with staff always checking in on you.

  • Review 101 (2021-06-13 - Rating: 5)

It is extremely rare for a restaurant to deliver on its opening weekend, but Contento left us super contentos! (Sorry, couldn’t help it!) We went twice since there’s a very limited menu from 3-5. The Albariño was great and the Uno Uno Uno was pretty good. We really liked the Pastisse and Mussel Escabeche too. Round 2 - the only disappointment was the VA wine, but that wasn’t all that surprising. The cava was unlike most Cavas and a pleasant surprise. The octopus is quite small, but very well cooked and the gazpacho is the perfect complement. The ceviche has a slight kick, but is great. And the mousse was exceptional. You definitely do not want to skip it. All of the owners and staff were incredibly friendly and it felt like the perfect neighborhood spot. An outstanding addition to the neighborhood and the NYC restaurant scene!

One of my true loves and only place to eat in the east Harlem area worth the money and time. They have an exquisite wine list and the food (although I hate seafood) is amazing. The smells and positive energy, great music and the people are everything a successful restaurant needs to keep clients like myself coming back. Check this place out, I promise you won’t regret it!

Absolutely a hidden gem!!! Everything we tried was just sooo tasty! Staff is exceptionally friendly! The music is a vibe and my best friend and I spent 1 hour eating their amazing food and dancing while we were eating! Def want to go back when I visit NYC again!

  • Review 119 (2023-01-10 - Rating: 5)

Saw the excellent reviews prior to booking so I came in with very high expectations! They were fulfilled to the max. Staff was IMPECCABLY friendly, food was excellent, setting was really ambient. The experience was too notch throughout and well worth the price. My only wish would be a larger variety of ceviche, although the one they have was excellent.

  • Review 120 (2023-10-16 - Rating: 5)

This is not a traditional peruvian restaurant, but it has some classics as ceviche and pisco sour. The picture is a arroz con leche cheesecake. I loved the food, and the atmosphere, it feels very intimate and relax.

  • Review 123 (2023-08-01 - Rating: 5)

Phenomenal! It’s on the top 100 list of restaurants in NYC for a reason. I usually shy away from pricier spots but worth every penny - plates are made for sharing and the wine list has some tasty, economical options that feature female South African producers. Try the salmon tiradito instead of the ceviche; then the amazing fava bean dip, succulent pork belly and superbly prepared salmon. Every dish has a touch of something you’ve never tasted before. The attentive staff are knowledgeable and it feels good when they remember you. Can’t wait to introduce more friends to this special place.

  • Review 124 (2023-07-26 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 126 (2023-07-09 - Rating: 5)

Had an excellent experience here leaving us beyond contento! A cozy restaurant with a “hidden gem” vibe. Delicious ceviche, yuca, fava dip, as well as short ribs with udon noodles. Celebrated a birthday and also loved the olive oil cake with strawberries. Everyone also really enjoyed their cocktails: margaritas and pisco sours. Felt a bit rushed but it’s such a small restaurant that I understood they try to clear things swiftly. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

  • Review 127 (2023-02-07 - Rating: 5)

Lively, artsy and wide selection of wines. I wish they had another variety of ceviche on the menu. Came here for my birthday and it was fantastic. Their playlist included all the top Latin artists.

I know my husband is really enjoying a dish when he says “wow”. You really have to earn it from him (his uncle was one of the founders of the culinary school at Johnson and Wales and taught several well known chefs). And he said “wow” for every dish we tried last night. Impeccable service, co-owned by someone who’s from East Harlem, inclusive (the whole bar and dining room is designed around wheelchair access) and incredible food. Cannot recommend this place enough.

  • Review 137 (2022-03-26 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 138 (2022-05-20 - Rating: 5)

We enjoyed everything about this place: the greeting was warm; the inside decor was thoughtful; and the food was delicious, with unexpected flavor combinations and smile-inducing presentation on every dish, down to sides and accompaniments. The fried yuca was an especially morish table favorite. Weve already recommended it to local friends, and plan to eat there again on future visits to The City.

What a great restaurant. Impeccable service, focused menu and a crazy good. Eclectic wine list, hand picked by MS Yannick, with wines that will blow your mind, more so if you are adventurous and want to experience new flavors and textures, By the way, I was the one vegan at the table and chef Oscar adapted the menu offerings to suit my diet….all delicious.Highly recommendable.

With NYC being one of the biggest food & beverage destinations in the world, it takes a lot to be different or leave an impact. The minute we stepped in for our first time, we knew just that - it would leave an impression. We have become accidental regulars, not for the food (which is INSANE) but for the people. Each time we dine, it gets better than before, which seems impossible. But it’s the people that bring us back. We always say we leave feeling better. The cocktails are experimental but approachable, the wine list lets you explore the world, and the seasonal menu makes you think differently about ingredients.Must haves are the Pork belly, duck liver mouse, ceviche, octopus, udon, and panna cotta. (But truly everything is Devine).Thank you Concento for making our neighborhood feel like home & being our favorite restaurant in NYC.

  • Review 141 (2022-02-10 - Rating: 4)

Very surprised by this little gem in Harlem. The ceviche of the day was mahi-mahi with a perfect amount of tart. The serving for the Tuna steak was huge and very filling. The signature cocktails were unique and well balanced, and the space, while small, was well designed and comfortable with an enclosed tent on the sidewalk and additional shed in the street.

  • Review 160 (2021-06-12 - Rating: 5)

We had dinner the day after opening and had a fabulous experience at Contento. The space is nicely designed with lots of space between the bar area and dinning tables. There is also an outdoor dinning area in front that is also nicely designed. Yannick and his wife Heidi were very gracious with the former roaming the tables to make sure everyone is happy and the latter behind the bar and catering to special requests (I ordered a Peruvian drink- Pisco sour). The waiters that attended our table are both sommeliers- Chavez and Mara. The chef, Oscar, has a huge smile and often deliver the meal to tables. We ordered a number of appetizers- grilled asparagus, cerviche and “personal”-size pizza and they were the right portion and very tasty. Our table ordered slow cooked short ribs in a modified peanut sauce, chicken katsu and risotto with assortment of vegetables and everything was prepared perfectly. For deserts, we had olive cake and chocolate mouse. The sommeliers paired our dishes with the appropriate wines from Chile to Northern Long Island.Overall, we were very happy with the experience and kudos to Yannick and Heidi and team for their mission to create an environment that is embracing and accommodating to those that are handicapped, like Yannick himself! Z.
