From appetizers to desserts, this restaurant exceeded all our expectations! Mr. Elis, the owner is very accommodating. I love the ceviche we had for appetizer and lobster black inked fettuccine for an entree. I highly recommend this place.

I came here for the first time with my parents tonight. We sat outside and the whole atmosphere was lovely and the food was great. We ordered wine along with the mushroom bruschetta and crispy artichokes to start, which were delicious, and the mains were excellent as well! The staff were really friendly, and while we waited for our desert they brought us a round of limoncellos :) Had the tiramisu and Nutella crepe for desert, which were great. We will definitely come back soon.

A friend of mine took me here as it was close to his home. I was not expecting much but wow - the owner was ever present and VERY hospitable and just brilliant. The food and the wine was AMAZING! My friend had the lamb chops which he has on every visit here and I ahd the steak which was perfectly cooked - next visit to New York I will definitely go again!!!

Great atmosphere, and Eli, the owner and a very friendly guy, does everything right when it comes to taking care of his customers. I stopped by here for several glasses of wine and a plate of shrimp mango ceviche, which was quite balanced between the citrus and sweet notes. The atmosphere inside is very cozy.We will be returning another night when one of our favorite bands stops by here to play some music.

This review is long over due. I work a couple of blocks away and have enjoyed dinner and drinks after work more than a few times. Let me start by saying that the owners/ staff go above and beyond every time. The food and wine never disappoint. My favorites include the mixed board- a great starter and delicious charcuterie board of italian meats, cheeses and olives. The brisket burger is absolutely delicious and packs a mouthful full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The salmon entree is also delicious. End your meal with the most delectable tiramasu, nutella crepes and Panna cotta; all absolutely fabulous. On top of all that, they make a mean cappuccino. The owners make us feel like family every time and are gracious and welcoming. I consider myself a food snob and tend to be particular about food; please show love to this wonderful establishment of just good people who know how to make a patron feel welcomed.

Like others, Im ambivalent about posting bcz I selfishly dont want Elis to get too popular for easy seating, but its our neighborhood favorite. The dollar oysters for happy hour are my passion; the fried baby artichokes, with their sauce are crisp and soft. The owner is a lovely man, overseeing everything with grace and efficiency. The motto os, Love is the way, and it comes true here.

Love everything about this neighborhood gem that is so wonderful on so many levels that I selfishly, don’t want word to get out and ruin it. The fact if the matter is that if you love well-made cocktails by someone who actually cares about your weird preference on a traditional drink (ie, non-shaming you), and if you love oysters, Italian cheeses, olives, toasted-to-perfection fresh bread, and so, so much more—on top of a stylish ambiance that doesnt venture into pretentiousness—then Elis and his unicorn of a wine bar (plus proper bar & full-menu dinner!) is for you. The first time I popped in, they were still serving what are truly epic happy hour specials. As in seriously, where in all of Manhattan can you find $1 oysters that not only dont haunt your dreams, but instead, make you want to slap yourself for accepting anything less? This has become one of my most favorite restaurants in all of NYC. I’ve been here around five times, and no joke, every dish I’ve had is insanely delicious and well thought out (many of the dishes are recipes from Elis’ family). The service is great, Elis is extremely attentive and makes you feel like you’re at home.The ambiance is chill and quaint and the wine list is reasonably priced and paired perfectly upon request. This place is perfect for date night, but I’ll admit that the food is so good that I’ve ordered pick up during the week. TRY THE BRISKET BURGER and their specials!!! You will not regret it.

My wife and I hosted our small wedding reception (for about 70 people) at Elis Wine Bar, and we could not have been happier. From our first dinner in getting to know Artur and Elis, we felt completely taken care of. The atmosphere was perfect and the food was raved about by our friends and family. This was an experience if you like to have a great time in a warm, elegant space. The drinks were absolutely delicious (didnt get the bartenders name but he was bald, buff and made a killer cosmo). There was live flamenco music being played which got the whole crowd moving in their seats, and the waiter kept the energy up by throwing napkins in the air! By the end of the night everyone was up dancing. Definitely an unexpected blast if youre on the UWS. Only downside is that it is a little pricey, worth it for a treat though.

I came for dinner but it has a cute center bar that would be great for grabbing casual drinks, or having a one on one. Elis and the staff are just fantastic. I had a very specific request for heated outdoor dining and they accommodated my group (and dog) so quickly! It even started raining when we were seated and he extended the awning further to make sure we stayed dry and warm.Food was delicious, wine was superb and the overall vibe from everyone (especially Elis) felt like we were visiting a good friend’s restaurant. Went there tonight for the first time and omg it was delicious.. very nice patio with they had amazing flowers and plants and lights around which made the atmosphere so much more romantic and beautiful. Food was the best in the area I’ve had thus far. A great place for a dinner for either a special occasion or for even a simple “treat yourself” night. As soon as I walked into Elis Wine Bar last night, I knew it would be a lovely evening. Aside from the restaurant being aesthetically beautiful, the vibe was very energetic and happy - everyone was eating, laughing, drinking good wine and thoroughly enjoying themselves. The service was extremely hospitable and kind, Artur and Elis (the owners) truly went above and beyond to make my first time at their restaurant very special! I am a seafood lover and Artur made the best food recommendations based on my palate. We started with the oysters and Artur delicately and skillfully prepared and seasoned it for me at table side! I also tried the ceviche and it melted like butter in my mouth lol, it was so delicious! For the entree Artur recommended the Branzino and it was prepared and seasoned to perfection! For wine we had a bottle (or 2, lol) of red, the LAtto Cantine del Notaio which was excellent! Im a red wine lover and i never follow the rules when it comes to food pairings lol. Elis was kind enough to make sure that my wine glass was refilled when the wine was running low lol. I will certainly return soon, I am already craving the oysters, the food and the attention! Thank you, Artur and Elis for such a lovely night! Its no surprise they received the best restaurant award in the upper west side! Cheers, Susan

I just moved to the neighborhood and this was my first meal out and I couldn’t have picked better. Great wine list, appropriate portion size for cost, good range of options and delicious food. Very lovely ambiance. Type of place I would be excited to bring friends and family who are visiting me from out of town. I stopped in for a drink and appetizer with my SO before dinner. We had a charcuterie board that was excellent and I had a beer that was fine. My SO ordered a glass or Pinot Noir and it was terrible, it tasted totally flat and I was surprised at how bad it was. Before I ordered a glass of Shiraz and it was no good either. It just tasted bad - totally without body at all. I was surprised that a Wine Bar in NYC would have bad wine. On the plus side, the place had excellent atmosphere and friendly, attentive service. I will probably go back eventually to see if the rest of the food is also good and try some different wines to see if it was just a bad night for those wines.

This is a half a block from where I live and have been here a few times now. Food has been spot on EVERY time!! Owners are hands on and they take the time to talk with every customer. They take pride in their work and it shows. Elis is intimate enough for a date night but chic enough for a night out with friends. The food never disappoints and you can ask about the specials each night. The wine list (heavy on Italian region ....yay!) Is plentiful. I highly recommend and this is now our go to spot for date night and a spot to take visitors when they come to UWS for a visit!!

Had an excellent time at my first time at the restaurant while visiting my friends in Morningside Heights. We started with the tuna tartare, veal meatballs (absolutely divine), a really tasty salad and my personal favorite, the mushroom pie. For the main I had the goat cheese ravioli which is a spectacular twist on one of my favorite dishes, a MUST try. Salmon was so tasty, perfectly cooked, and the NY strip was made just right. For dessert we tried the the cheesecake, chocolate hazelnut mousse and tiramisu (couldn’t pick my favorite) and we were told they are all made in-house. To drink we had a fantastic bottle of Sicilian red wine recommended by the server. We look forward to coming back, thank you for a wonderful first experience.

I was tempted to gatekeep the happy hour here but it’s too good not to share, they have best oyster happy hour I’ve been to in the city (with maybe the only dollar oysters I trust). Stopped by here for dinner with some friends. We had the tuna tartare, beef carpaccio, lamb chops, brisket burger, and lamb sliders. The sliders were unexpectedly amazing and the lamb chops were really good too. The burger stands out as well, one of the best burgers I’ve had. Perfect spot for a romantic evening or a bite with friends. The margarita and the moscow mule were great drinks as well. 5 stars deserved

After finding Elis and Arthurs Wine bar somewhat by accident, we have been there an almost embarrassing number of times in recent weeks. It started with a great meal and a wonderful wine suggestion (first from Arthur, enthusiastically seconded by Elis). Our favorite surprise of the meal were the Brussel Sprouts, everyone should get them every time. They suggested we reserve a table two weeks later when some members of the Gypsy Kings would be performing. This happened to be a night when we had family in from out of town, so we booked a table immediately. After not getting in at another recent in the area the following week, we defaulted back to Elis. We had another wonderful meal with a bigger group and shared all the plates and desserts. Everything was delicious (dont neglect the artichoke appetizer either) and Elis took great care of us. The best visit so far was the evening of music. We had great seats for a wonderful performance. Even though the power went out partially before the third set, we stayed and had a fantastic evening. Elis and Arthur work hard to make sure that everyone at the table has a good time. After a few more visits, this has become our default place to go out for a fun evening and wonderful food.

Decent wine bar! I was so impressed with the efficiency of the three staff running this entire establishment. The food was good. We got bruschetta, artichokes, cacio e pepe, and tiramisu. I expected more of the tiramisu and wine - both should have been better at an Italian wine bar. I’d go back when it’s warm enough to sit outside with an aperol spritz.

Very comfortable seats with enough room for privacy, nice ambient lighting, excellent air flow from the overhead fans on a humid evening, with great outdoor seating for nicer evenings. My food and drink were ...good enough, though not a single thing was as good as it sounded on the menu, sadly, a bit underseasoned on the food, nothing was crispy that was supposed to be, and the cocktails were underwhelming, but still had a lovely time there nonetheless and would even go back to try it on a weekend night, see if the consumables get kicked up a notch.
