We went close at lunch time and had to wait for half hour in the line. Service was good - staff was friendly. We ordered GF fried chicken burger with sweet potato fries and lemon zest pancakes. The pancakes had that bitter aftertaste of lemon zest - am not a fan of that but my son was ok with it. Because it was GF the pancakes were more crumbly. My burger too the GF bun was crumbly but the taste was really good.It is a great place to have worry free GF food.

Thank you for this dinner, we really enjoyed it 🥰 almost everything (or maybe everything?) is gluten free, all the desserts too 🤤❤️

  • Review 3 (2024-12-31 - Rating: 5)

Best breakfast we had during our stay in Manhatten. The steak and eggs, chicken and waffles, and French toast were amazing

  • Review 4 (2024-10-07 - Rating: 5)

Excellent soup and chicken wings. The service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was crowded but had no problem getting a seat at the counter. The restroom was clean, as was the entire restaurant.

  • Review 5 (2024-06-13 - Rating: 4)

Our group of four came by on a Saturday for brunch at 12:30. It was crowded but we didnt wait too long. In fact, its a pretty well-oiled machine they have running. We must have gotten our food within 5 minutes of ordering, and yes, it was hot - so they must have certain things prepped beforehand. We had an order of the lemon ricotta pancakes for the table to share. I was really excited for these but they were kind of disappointed. There was not enough lemon flavor or ricotta. They just tasted like pancakes with a hint of lemon. For my main, I wanted to try the fried chicken, which is what theyre known for. But I didnt want the chicken dinner, so I went with the fried chicken sandwich. For lack of better words, it was thick and juicy. The chicken was perfectly fried. It does get pretty messy though. It also comes with a side of fries.Cant believe Ive waited so long to try Friedmans! Dont let the brunch crowds deter you. Everything moves quickly and is very efficient. We were in and out in less than an hour.

  • Review 6 (2024-07-09 - Rating: 4)

Went there for a team lunch. It was crowded. We were quickly assigned our table. Just the space is bit small so need to adjust. We selected food using bar code and then ordered it. Found 1 veg option. Food was tasty and the size was also enough. Overall recommended place.

  • Review 7 (2024-09-20 - Rating: 5)

We went for brunch. The place was busy but managed to get a seating for our group.Had the pancakes and mimosa, falafel, shaksuka, fish taco, chips. Generous portions and great coffee

  • Review 8 (2024-07-09 - Rating: 4)

We had a breakfast here. The food was good, but compared to prices it could have been better. My dish was a bit blend. Otherwise the atmosphere was nice waitresses were helpful.

  • Review 9 (2024-06-27 - Rating: 4)

Visited for brunch and was lucky to get a table without waiting. Tables are quite tightly packed in and noise levels were relatively high. We enjoyed our food, but I was disappointed that my poached eggs weren’t runny and had to remain the waitress that we were missing a side order which didn’t arrive with our main plates. It’s a little on the higher price for breakfast, but what an institution, we really enjoyed.

  • Review 10 (2024-12-23 - Rating: 5)

We were greeted by hostess Carmen, she nicely explained that the wait time was 5-10 minutes. She wasn’t wrong, we were seated at a great table for 2. Waitress Gracie L took fantastic care of us! Thank you Gracie L. Big shout out to the kitchen staff, your food is fabulous. Side note, if there is a wait it’s worth it.

  • Review 11 (2024-08-15 - Rating: 5)

I absolutely loved my dinner here the other night. The service was great and the food was delicious. I can highly, highly recommend the Reuben. I was hesitant at first because of the whole gluten free thing, but Im glad I wasnt deterred. I will happily return on my next trip to New York.

  • Review 12 (2024-07-22 - Rating: 5)

Really enjoyed breakfast here. You never know what to expect but the coffee was great. We had the BELT and Nova Benny, both were delicious and a good portion size. I will definitely be back.

  • Review 13 (2024-09-22 - Rating: 5)

I have frequented Friedmans Hells Kitchen location in the past and their Herald Square location didnt disappoint. Great food and a delightful staff. Ill be back.

  • Review 14 (2024-04-10 - Rating: 5)

My recent visit to Friedmans Herald Square left me impressed. Their pancakes were fantastic - fluffy, flavorful, and incredibly delicious. The coffee was also spot-on, rich and flavorful. With a menu that goes beyond just breakfast fare, Friedmans is a great option for a satisfying meal any time of day.

  • Review 15 (2025-01-02 - Rating: 4)

Its a new location, down the st from the old location. Good food. Breakfast all day. Gluten-free options. However if youre GF and vegan, dairy-free or allergic to eggs, you can only have salad, which is a bore. Friedmans, please go all in with the special needs.

  • Review 16 (2025-01-01 - Rating: 5)

Been eating takeout and in-restaurant for almost 4 years and as someone gluten-free, I am never disappointed. Portions are sizeable and it just always hits the “comfort food” spot! Casual, but very reliable.

  • Review 17 (2024-04-28 - Rating: 4)

Very good food for breakfast/brunch. With regards to my avocado eggs, I would have appreciated a bit of a bigger piece of toast as I was still a bit hungry after this. Service wasn’t terrible but just not as friendly as other places we visited in NY and felt a little rushed.

  • Review 18 (2024-11-19 - Rating: 5)

Intimate atmosphere for delicious dining. We started of with the pot stickers, which was my first time to try since they’re gluten-free. My partner got the pastrami sandwich and someone who has had many around the world, he raved about Friedman’s being in the top three. I ordered the brick chicken and it was so simple yet packed with flavor. Lastly,’we indulged with their brownie and a scoop of ice cream. We will definitely be back!

  • Review 19 (2024-11-25 - Rating: 5)

Almost everything is gluten free at this restaurant and the Steak and French fries were delicious

  • Review 20 (2024-11-04 - Rating: 5)

My wife and I had an excellent experience at Friedman’s! She ordered the salmon salad, and I had the Reuben sandwich (gluten-free bread available!). Service was prompt and attentive – our order was taken quickly, and the food arrived fast. Everything was delicious and prepared perfectly. We enjoyed it so much that we went to another Friedman’s location the next day! Highly recommend for great food and a seamless dining experience.

  • Review 21 (2024-12-30 - Rating: 4)

Foods and the service was good but a bit crowded to talk.

  • Review 22 (2023-07-25 - Rating: 5)

If you are gluten intolerant this is the place for you. They can make just about anything they have on the menu gluten free. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. We didnt have a lot of time and they got us in and out in a reasonable amount of time. Next time we are in the area we definitely will be back. Great job.

  • Review 23 (2024-08-19 - Rating: 5)

Delicious. We enjoyed ourselves. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes with eggs and turkey bacon. The lemon ricotta pancakes were delicious...mind blowing. Theyve left a lasting impression on me.My wife had the 2 egg omelette with hash - she said it was amazing. Our server was attentive and quick with excellent top of the line customer service. Ill be returning.

  • Review 24 (2024-05-24 - Rating: 5)

My family and I love this place! We rarely find a restaurant that we can all agree on. I am gluten intolerant and 99% of the menu is gluten free or can be easily prepared as gluten free. Even my very picky kiddo loved the mac n cheese balls. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Both dinner and brunch are delicious!

  • Review 25 (2024-03-20 - Rating: 5)

I have dined at all the different locations in the city. This one is walk up only and you cannot be seated until your party has arrived. It’s pretty big and for the most part I haven’t had any trouble getting in. On weekends it’s a lot busier, but the line moves fast. No matter what you get you can’t go wrong here!

  • Review 26 (2024-04-09 - Rating: 4)

Its a good place for a quick breakfast. Its usually full and you might find a short queue outside but rable rotation is quick. Theres an all day breakfast menu. Food was decent, nothing oustanding, efficient attention and overall a good option.

  • Review 27 (2024-12-27 - Rating: 5)

Friedman’s on 31st St makes me want to come to NYC for dinner. The atmosphere is light and airy, the service is attentive and friendly, the food is comforting and delicious. The majority of the menu is gluten free, and everything is full of flavor.

  • Review 28 (2024-04-07 - Rating: 5)

Great food and great service. They have a system, so you are never in need of getting someone or waiting more than 4 minutes for your food and the second you put that last bite in your mouth, the bill is on your table!

  • Review 29 (2023-01-04 - Rating: 5)

This place is a good spot for brunch! I got an avocado toast, which was nice, and my friends ordered eggs any style + pancakes. The service is very fast. The atmosphere is pretty. On Tuesday morning there wasnt waiting to be seated.

  • Review 30 (2024-02-04 - Rating: 5)

Everything about Friedman’s is great! The food/drinks, the service, location and atmosphere. The food however is the star of the show. The Lemon Ricotta pancakes were so fluffy and delicious. Their drink of the day happened to be a delicious passion fruit lemonade which had the option of being spiked paired well with the pancakes and bacon as it wasn’t overly sweet.

  • Review 31 (2024-11-30 - Rating: 5)

Very tasty food and good service, and everything can be made gluten free.Tomato soup was excellentFried chicken sandwich was greatMashed potatoes were goodBrussel sprouts were goodThe braised short rib was only OK, but the sauce with it was great.Sweet potato fries were amazingCarrotcake was was really tastyDefinitely worth going to even if you arent gluten free!

  • Review 32 (2023-05-16 - Rating: 5)

We ordered HAND CUT PASTRAMI ON RYE and NOVA BENNYI definitely recommend Nova Benny it was delicious.Pastrami was not in our taste, too heavy for breakfast.Cappuccino and Latte were also very tasty.Service was perfect.

  • Review 33 (2024-07-23 - Rating: 5)

Loved the chai latte and the Nova Benny with avocados... Service is very fast and I always found a table even the restaurant seems full all the time..

  • Review 34 (2024-01-06 - Rating: 5)

Excellent service. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Food was crazy fast. Food was fantastic. I got the pastrami hash and it was better than I could have imagined. I got gluten free bread and it came with this yummy blueberry butter. There was a line outside but moves fast. Very clean and will definitely be back

  • Review 35 (2022-09-17 - Rating: 5)

Almost everything on their menu can be made gluten-free (the only thing that *cannot* currently be made gluten-free is the matzoh ball soup)! There are several Friedman’s locations across the city and we have been to most of them. This location in Herald Square is conveniently located less than a block from Penn Station/Madison Square Garden. There is limited outdoor seating, and tables inside as well.We ordered the chicken and waffle entree as well as the Mac and cheese bites, both were gluten-free free and delicious. I was not a fan of the spicy honey (chicken & waffles) or spicy sauce served with the Mac and cheese bites, so I asked for regular syrup and ketchup instead. We also had a few drinks, which were very tasty. The Summer Passionfruit was good, the Yuzu Cocktail was interesting, and the Mango Lemonade was very sweet.Tell your server about any allergies, especially gluten-free, and they will serve your food with a special flag to ensure safety.

  • Review 36 (2024-04-27 - Rating: 5)

After doing some aerial yoga with my mom, we were quite hungry! Then I remembered Friedman’s was nearby! You’re welcomed as soon as you walk in, and the decor is a mix of rustic and modern. The staff is super attentive and so accommodating and sweet! My mother had the farmer’s omelette, and she said it was the fluffiest omelette she’s ever had. She first came in determined for an avocado toast, but she saw a server walk by with the farmers omelette and she was sold! I had the Nova benny, instead of it being on an English muffin, it was on this massive potato latke. And I really preferred that since I find English muffins to be quite chewy! Lovely food, will make this one a top priority whenever I’m in the area again!

  • Review 37 (2024-05-21 - Rating: 4)

Our first time in that place and we had a good experience, the drinks and food were excellent. They were a little busy but the waitress was pending of us.

  • Review 38 (2022-04-11 - Rating: 5)

While visiting NY we stopped in here for breakfast. We are glad we found this place because the experience was really great. The service was very friendly and attentive but not in an obtrusive way. The place is small so feel like we were lucky to walk right in and be seated. We were there on a Tuesday morning so it wasn’t busy. The seating is a little tight so there isn’t a lot of privacy for conversation. This definitely makes you want to eat and leave. The food was really good. I had the avocado toast and it was really good. The egg was cooked perfectly and the flavors were well blended and complimentary. My husband had the pastrami hash and felt it was really tasty. Overall this was a great find and if we lived here we would definitely come back.

  • Review 39 (2024-01-14 - Rating: 5)

HASH BROWNS...!?!?! I recently visited Friedman’s Herald Square and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant is family-owned and serves American comfort food and gluten-free options. The food was delicious, and the service was on point. I highly recommend trying their Salmon eggs benedict with avocado and gluten-free banana bread. The eggs benedict was magnificent and the portions are top notch! The restaurant is open every day from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM. You can find them at 132 W 31st St, New York, NY 10001 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Review 40 (2023-09-23 - Rating: 5)

Great spot for brunch. Located a few blocks from the Amtrak station, which is awesome. Had the “BELT”, banana bread made with almond flour, and berry french toast.

  • Review 41 (2024-06-29 - Rating: 5)

Quick service, sat quickly & food came very quick. I don’t recommend the breakfast potatoes. Just didn’t taste good. Great purple jam stuff for toast though.

  • Review 42 (2023-10-11 - Rating: 5)

Must try- Mac and cheese bites, Brussel sprouts.Kale salad was fresh and tasty, Grilled chicken and Swiss sandwich with bacon jam was the size of two large cheeseburgers and it was delicious.Great service from the entire staff, they take pride in the work.Small place, seats about 30 - 40 including a bar on one side and 60 on the main room.Definitely recommend if you’re looking for American food options.

  • Review 43 (2023-11-04 - Rating: 5)

Nice ambiance, the waitress was on point very helpful and attentive. The seating was good, but could probably use a little more spacing with tables on the side. If the tables on the side are spaced out a little more, it would be better not to be so close to other patrons.

  • Review 44 (2023-02-22 - Rating: 4)

My friends and I went to Friedmans on a Sunday for brunch. We had a great time! We got there around noon. They said it was about a 20-25 minute wait, but it was more like 35-40 minutes. Thankfully, it wasnt freezing, so we didnt mind waiting outside.Once we sat down, the server quickly came over to bring water and take our drink order. We ordered two coffees and a hot chocolate. The coffee was strong, and hot and came with free refills (always a win)! They also had oat milk as a milk alternative.FOOD:My one friend ordered the BERRY FRENCH TOAST (gluten-free) with homemade strawberry compote, topped w/ fresh berries, and Vermont maple syrup. She enjoyed it!My gluten-free friend ordered the GRILLED CHEESE (gluten-free) with aged cheddar, American, and herb fries with a side of TURKEY CHILI. She said everything was good!As for the vegan (me), I ordered the HOMEMADE FALAFEL with tahini, Israeli salad, hummus, and pita. I substituted the herb fries with a SIDE SALAD. I am not a big salad gal, but the simplicity of this salad with the delicious dressing made this one of the bests Ive had in a long time! The salad dressing was light, yet refreshing. You could barely see it, but it had so much flavor! There was a hint of citrus and vinegar. Im going to try and recreate this at home. For the Homemade Falafel, it was tasty! The pita was fresh and super fluffy! You can tell that the falafels were fried to order. They had a nice crunch to them. However, they did tend to eat a little salty. The Israeli salad, hummus, and tahini were great additions. Good balances of flavor, and textures. I would definitely order this again.SERVICE:As good as the food was, the service felt unstructured and frankly all over the place. It also felt a little mechanical and not as friendly as it could be. Maybe because of the handheld devices they used to take orders? Also, they had a glitch with our order. It didnt go through the first time, but we realized it about 10-15 minutes later.OVERALL:Friedmans is also a little on the pricey side, but with good quality food, I found it worth the price. The space has a modern style with bright features. They played good, upbeat music. Its great for a group that has vegans and people with gluten intolerances.I would come back to Friedmans! Its also conveniently located down the street from Penn Station, making it a perfect meeting place coming in from New Jersey.

  • Review 45 (2023-07-15 - Rating: 5)

The food here is so good! We liked it so much that we took my in-laws! If you go, you must try the banana bread and the shakshuka (and I would strongly recommend if you’re in the area that you go!!). Always good service, always good food.

  • Review 46 (2022-11-06 - Rating: 5)

I was so happy we didn’t see a line outside coz the last time we tried to eat brunch there was already a line. And I looove their Berry French Toast and Nova Benny. 👌🏼🫰🏼Once we got inside, the place was packed! 😅 The servers were so nice and attentive. Will definitely come back when I’m in the city.

  • Review 47 (2022-12-05 - Rating: 5)

Arrived at 8:30am on a Sunday and got seated immediately! The chicken and waffles were great. I loved the sweet and spicy sauce. The banana bread and strawberry compote was also wonderful. Would come back!

  • Review 48 (2023-09-20 - Rating: 4)

We came for breakfast and we had immediately a table. The food came fast but in my it was not hot enough. Also it was lacking seasoning. Luckily there was salt and pepper so we could spice it up. Had the pancakes to finish and there were almost no berries on top of it. The taste of the pancakes itself topped with whipped cream was good though.

  • Review 49 (2024-03-02 - Rating: 4)

Gluten-free people come here! Everything on the menu is either gluten-free or has a gluten-free option.I got the tuna melt. The seasoned fries had a great flavor and where crispy and delicious. The sandwich was big, and very filling. I love that it came with a pickle. Lots of tuna salad and cheese on it. Had great flavor, I really enjoyed it. $20 is high for tuna, but it is the city.My cousin got the fried chicken platter with mac and cheese and brussel sprouts. The fried chicken is completely gluten free! The brussels were really really good. Had a bit of a kick to them, perfectly cooked and crispy. The restaurant is small and cute. No problem getting seating at 6:30 on a Friday night.Great food and would def come back!

  • Review 50 (2024-02-18 - Rating: 5)

Amazing!!!!! Theyre able to manage gluten free allergy and lactose free. The best in town with more than a location.

  • Review 51 (2024-08-12 - Rating: 5)

Friedmans at Herald Square has great food with fresh ingredients and a nice atmosphere, but its on the pricey side. The quality is excellent, but expect to pay a bit more. Still, a solid choice if youre in the area and want a tasty meal.

  • Review 52 (2019-11-03 - Rating: 4)

My friends and I reserved a table for 4 via yelp and even though we were a little late, I believe they re-activated our expired reservation. We ordered a mocha, cappuccino, coffee and a mimosa. For food, we got the Nova Benny, Wild mushroom toast, chicken chilaquiles and French toast. The food was absolutely amazing. So satisfying. The only reason I chose to give a 4/5 was because towards the end of the meal, the waiter seemed to be really rude and tried to rush us out and ruined the great time we were having.

  • Review 53 (2024-11-05 - Rating: 5)

This breakfast spot in New York is a gem! They offer an amazing variety of options, including many that cater to dietary preferences, and every dish was delicious. The service was fantastic—friendly and attentive. Highly recommend for a great start to your day!

  • Review 54 (2024-12-01 - Rating: 5)

I have a lot of food allergies and sensitivities, and our waiter and the chef were very attentive and created a delicious meal that I could enjoy! We will definitely return! Highly recommend!

  • Review 55 (2023-01-15 - Rating: 5)

It’s amazing how majority of their menu can be made gluten free! We were a large party and half of us were gluten free and were able to enjoy anything our hearts could want! My fiancé even got his meal gluten free so that we could share! I definitely recommend the Reuben!

  • Review 56 (2024-05-19 - Rating: 5)

When we arrived, it was a little bit of a wait, but we did have a large party on a Saturday morning. But service was very attentive once seated inside, and food came out quick. Me and my wife got the steak and eggs special, that also came with fries. It was delicious. The hanger steak that comes on the dish was tender. Also had an apple coder bellini that was amazing. Just know that once you finish you wont be lingering long, as theyll come to the table to ask if youre going to order more lol. They dont do reservations FYI, so show up somewhat early if doing breakfast/brunch.

  • Review 57 (2023-07-20 - Rating: 5)

Had breakfast here twice! It was that good. Loved the Berry French Toast and chicken and waffles. Couldn’t reserve online though for both occasions (Saturday and Monday) but still got seated quite quickly. Highly recommended!

  • Review 58 (2024-12-10 - Rating: 5)

Visited NYC recently and ate here twice in one day (lemon ricotta pancakes for breakfast, fried chicken for dinner) due to the numerous gluten free options. All around fantastic meal and service.

  • Review 59 (2023-11-21 - Rating: 5)

Had the steak and eggs special. Everything was perfect. So nice to have a full gluten free menu. Even a beer to wash it all down.

  • Review 60 (2019-04-22 - Rating: 5)

I visited Friedman’s 3 different times during my stay in Manhattan and I can’t rate it highly enough!! I had breakfast, lunch and dinner across a week and the food and service was sensational. Definitely worth a visit, I was travelling in my own so sat at the bar each time which was comfortable enough to read my book and also watch the activities back and forth. Complimentary wifi is also available if you ask for the code :)

  • Review 61 (2022-12-18 - Rating: 5)

There’s a never-ending line but it moves quickly. The Nova Benedict is delicious. The soft smoked salmon pairs perfectly with the crunchy potato latkes. The Pastrami Hash is also super tasty (and is elevated with a splash of hot sauce).

  • Review 62 (2024-10-07 - Rating: 5)

Busy place- awesome food! EVERYTHING on menu can be made GF ( except matza ball soup) had the most delicious steak and eggs special. Friendly atmosphere, nice clean restaurant. We loved it!

  • Review 63 (2024-03-28 - Rating: 4)

Food was very good. Super crowded. Sodas come in cans so no free refills. We enjoyed our breakfast but Friedman’s is a little more “upscale” than we were expecting. Probably not a good place for children.

  • Review 64 (2023-08-15 - Rating: 5)

YOU HAVE TO TRY FRIEDMANS!The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food was served about 10 minutes after we placed our order. Everything was delicious!I love this restaurant, cannot wait to go back!

  • Review 65 (2022-05-21 - Rating: 5)

Amazing place for brunch! I had the hand cut pastrami on rye with sweet potato fries with Bloody Mary’s! Loved it! One of the best pastrami sandwiches I have had in the city. It’s a fantastic brunch spot in the city.

  • Review 66 (2024-12-19 - Rating: 4)

Didnt care for the pancakes but the French toast with berries was amazing. The pancakes had a weird aftertaste and the waitress was saying is probably because theyre gluten free, but the menu didnt mention that. Great service, no wait, great location.

  • Review 67 (2024-12-16 - Rating: 5)

Delicious meal! Nice calm ambiance tho music was a bit loud for my liking. Friendly vibes with attentive staff. Would definitely recommend it!

  • Review 68 (2023-12-03 - Rating: 5)

Great find, sadly on the last day of our holiday. Gluten free options and varied menu, everything looked as good as the photos promised.

  • Review 69 (2022-09-18 - Rating: 5)

Prompt and friendly service. Good portion size and tasty food for the price. Lots of gluten-free options as well. We’ll come back to try the GF fried chicken sandwich.

  • Review 70 (2022-08-11 - Rating: 5)

I really liked the tuna melt here, this might have been the first tuna sandwich Ive ever tried and enjoyed! Their shakshouka was decent as well, although it contained an excessive number of olives.

  • Review 71 (2022-03-01 - Rating: 5)

Bit of a line to enter but a quick one (15min for two), service was quick and laid back. Servers were really nice and helpful, ready to go. Food was delicious, Reuben sandwich was big, moist, with perfect French fries. Red Sangria topped with prosecco was delicious and refreshing. Everything else ordered at the table was really good too. Checked vax cards & IDs, masks until youre seated. Bathroom was clean.

Nothing to add more than the full stars. GREAT SERVICE! great food. Friendly staff. I recommend it and I will go back!

  • Review 73 (2022-06-17 - Rating: 5)

I stopped here by myself for lunch and it was awesome! I had the eggs with style and everything tasted excellent. I was sat right away and there are outdoor seating options as well. My waitress was so kind and attentive. I also overheard the customer next to be being very rude and dismissive to my server, but she remained calm and professional. I give her credit, I would have been frustrated! Overall, a great place.

Loved this place when we visited New york on holiday last month. Had 2 or 3 meals over our stay. Lovely staff, very friendly. Had the poached egg and avacado on toast 3 times and also the buttermilk chicken burger, all delicious. Good prices compared to other places. Good size portion

  • Review 75 (2023-01-16 - Rating: 5)

Loved this place! Great brunch that happens to be gluten free as well. Ordered the Chicken and Waffles and the Eggs Benedict. Would recommend to friends and fellow celiacs.

  • Review 76 (2022-10-12 - Rating: 4)

Ordered the pastrami sandwich, fried chicken on cheddar waffles and matzah ball soup. First time having waffles that way and matzah ball soup so its hard to compare but overall thought it was good. The sandwich was also decent especially when we just had Katz the day before. Good service. Would recommend.

Nice basic breakfast/brunch. Service was nice. Food was good. Outdoor seating was pleasant. Nothing out of this world but overall nice - no complaints!

  • Review 78 (2018-05-23 - Rating: 5)

I would totally recommend this place! They have two sections, dinner and breakfast/lunch. The dinner area was full so they seated us in the breakfast/lunch booth for 4. The section was kind of weird, but nevertheless the service and food was amazing. We totally over ordered because we practically want to order everything thats on the menu!

Spent Sunday brunch at Friedman’s after reading review on yelp. I tried french toast and hot latte by La colombe. This was a good combination, French toast was really good, grilled toast was on point and fruits are really fresh especially for the blueberry. Will come back to try another menu for sure.

  • Review 80 (2020-03-09 - Rating: 5)

Amazing and wonderful friendly service. Wild mushroom toast was fantastic, the berry French toast was really something else, full of fruits and flavor. Orange juice was freshly squeezed and it tasted amazing and the coffee was really good. Highly recommended, definently coming back

Ordered 2 dishes and 2 drinks. I loved mango match lemonade. it was special. I ordered steak and one another (forgot the name). and I loved the steak. it was not super special, but you cannot find it anywhere with this price range.

We went to Friedman for brunch. They were offering a special with hanger steak! I loved it and my latte was delicious. Staff was friendly even though it was very busy.

    Great breakfast,super friendly staff!

  • Review 84 (2018-12-27 - Rating: 5)

Found it on Yelp and make a reservation if you can. Went for brunch and LOVED the Nova Benny bc it was on potato cakes instead of traditional English muffins. It was busy and seating is tight. Food is very good and worth the price.

  • Review 85 (2018-09-30 - Rating: 5)

Staff was awesome and friendly. Food came out fast and was definitely worth it. Nice atmosphere and decor of the place. Even though crowded the wait times were fairly decent and didnt take too long to be seated. They would even take your name and phone number and give you a call when your table is ready.

Ordered a waffle w/ chicken and an egg white omelette. They didn’t have much flavor and tasted healthy. But the service was nice!

  • Review 90 (2022-12-20 - Rating: 5)

Really enjoyed breakfast on Monday.Pancakes and Warm Banana Bread we’re both very good.I enjoyed the Shakshuka, but it was a bit heavy on the olives for my taste. We watched the French Toast and the Chicken & Waffles go by, and they also looked and smelled great.Convenient location near Penn Station.

  • Review 91 (2023-01-16 - Rating: 5)

My wife found this place on the fly & we loved it, wait time wasn’t too bad for New Year’s Day & the restaurant was efficient on getting people seated. My wife loved there signature ricotta lemon pancakes as I had the there delicious berry French toast.

  • Review 92 (2020-01-11 - Rating: 5)

The service was excellent, after a short wait to get seated. The recommendations were spot-on, and I especially enjoyed the blueberry butter for my gluten-free toast and the latkes. Given the popularity of the place, I would definitely return for brunch the next time I have a lazy morning/afternoon!

  • Review 93 (2017-08-27 - Rating: 5)

I love the food here! The service was great, as well. We enjoyed the chicken and waffles, pastrami hash, and Friedmans burger. The chicken and waffles was delightful, hosting a hint of cheese and tickled with a sweet habanero syrup. So good! The burger was one of the best in town! Seared perfectly, and accompanied by mushrooms and onions sautéed in red wine.

  • Review 94 (2023-03-29 - Rating: 5)

They literally can make everything gluten free except the motza ball soup... Like WOW what a gluten free persons dream 😍Staff was amazing, atmosphere was great and the food was fantastic.

  • Review 95 (2024-09-27 - Rating: 5)

Great place for GF brunch! But It’s a strange place: food is crazy mixture of southern comfort food with Asian fusion.I guess it is fusion cousins, isn’t it 🤪. Service was also strange mixture of everyone is trying hard, but people on the left got wrong food and then waited for long time to get right order, and then women next to them got something so wrong with her food that she started to cry.Don’t worry about us: we were just fine!GF fried chicken and waffles is spectacular!GF free people rejoice!(I’m not GF, my wife is, which basically makes me GF (paraphrasing Pulp Fiction))Recommend!👍

  • Review 96 (2022-07-11 - Rating: 5)

I walked in around 10:30 AM on a Saturday and luckily there was a seat ready inside. The server was super nice & even asked about food allergies. I ordered the Shakshuka & Chicken Matzo Ball Soup. The Shakshuka was super flavorful and the kalamata olives were a great touch. I just wish there was something sweeter to cut through the sharpness of the dish. The Chicken Matzo Ball Soup was quite bland, but light and refreshing nonetheless.Overall it was a great experience & I definitely recommend!

Tasty food from locally sourced places. Ordered a Friedman burger with cheese and caramelized onions. The burger was tasty, not dripping with juice but still cooked to my liking. The caramelized onions really stood out as they were extent tasty. The herbed fries were nice and crisp. Service was excellent and not too over the top. Would recommend if in the area

This was our first breakfast of our holiday. The service and quality of food promised to be a good start. We were lucky to have the mimosa in a promo that day, which accompanied our brunch greatly. The Lebanese food offering is equally extensive as the classic offering. We were impressed by the requirement to show ID along our proof of vaccination.

Bryan was super attentive, friendly, and engaging despite being very busy, and made me feel very welcome. I ordered a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato soup, and it was honestly the best Ive ever had. Give it a try!!

Gluten free safe heaven for food! Took a celiac for lunch and while the bill was high for two brunch items, an app, and two drinks, it was amazing food and great service 👍

  • Review 109 (2019-04-03 - Rating: 4)

Had to wait a long time to get in here, but once the wait was over it was worth it. Friedmans is basically a fancy diner offering great breakfast meal options. We enjoyed our salads, french toast and a chicken sandwich. The service staff was very friendly. However, we did feel that food was a bit overpriced, especially all the extra sides. Paying $6 for a side of bacon, especially when its overcooked can be a bummer. Nonetheless we enjoyed our meal and would recommend coming back here.

  • Review 110 (2024-03-24 - Rating: 5)

Come here every time we’re in NYC.Food was very good, service excellent, fast and friendly. Very popular place so expect to wait.

  • Review 111 (2018-05-16 - Rating: 4)

Pricey, but we had a good sandwich here. Within the menu, the cheapest sandwich was $13, a bacon lettuce avocado tomato, and the other sandwiches were $16. Solid place to have a meal and conversation with friends, but not someplace I would frequent because of the price ($16 plus discretionary tips can get you far in the world of sandwich ingredients if youd just get to the grocery store)My family came at an off peak hour(around 2pm)so there was plenty of seating and no wait. Because the menu consists of pretty generic foods, I wouldnt recommend waiting for this place if there is one. Unless you are gluten free, which then you might consider coming here because its not that easy to find a gluten free fresh sandwhich.

Came here for brunch today.Food: 5/5The toast with poached egg was delicious. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the mocha was great as well..Service: 3/5The server was really great, but I felt rushed by the manager. It seemed like they were trying to get me out as soon as possible, constantly checking on me every 1-2 minutes. I couldnt enjoy my meal in peace and was out in 20 minutes.

The food is really good here. i had their chicken matzo ball soup and it was really good and authentic tasting. Their spinach-artichoke dip appetizer was incredible. im actually craving it right now just thinking about it. For my main entree i had their salmon kale salad that had beets and carrots and quinoa and it was a bowl of goodness. i would totally recommend this place but just like other places in manhattan is a bit pricey but not overly pricey. you get what you pay for: Good food in a very casual atmosphere.

  • Review 137 (2022-11-06 - Rating: 4)

Nice place with good prices, lots of different type of cuisines on the dishes. We had some Mexican style chilaquiles and the salmon Benedict’s over a bed of potato latke.

  • Review 138 (2018-01-27 - Rating: 5)

I love love love this place! It’s kind of small but the menu completely makes up for it. My girlfriend got an egg white omelette that was paired with French Fries. At first I was like that’s different but it really worked. I myself got the chicken and cheese waffle. The chicken was delicious but the waffle was okay. I think if they just did an ordinary waffle it would be amazing but I also think this is where the restaurant tried so hard to be different and failed. But overall I would love to come back to this place again. So many items on the menu I would love to try. Highly recommend this place.

The bacon I wouldnt call thick bacon as advertised its just your standardized bacon but it still tasted great.

This was the first time for both of us dining here, chosen after hearing good reviews from other people. We planned on coming another day for brunch but both of us wanted to catch up and hang out so we decided to do a trial night. The wings were delicious, very flavorful and fillingThe mac and cheese was goodThe fries were goodThe lemonades were deliciousThe service was pretty uncomfortableShe really took the glass out of my friend’s hand while the straw was right in her mouthWere asked multiple times if we were done with our food.. I feel like most people make eye contact with the waitstaff and let them know we were ready for the check.. they were standing right next to us so we clearly would be capable of informing them we were done. There was no line of people waiting, there were other seats available. Clearly didn’t feel like valued customersThere was a charge discrepancy from the menu vs the bill we got ($7 per lemonade instead of $6) It was explained as an error because the prices changed but they didn’t change the Physical menu bc that costs money.. i get that but it’s ridiculous to expect customers to know that whole reasoning bc when u look at a menu, u look at the price and u choose the item. They offered a refill when I was done with my beverage which I agreed to because it was delicious. But refills are not free (totally fine with me but just letting others know).Anyway, I do recommend those wings.but will find another brunch spot for better service.

Had brunch here with some friends on a Monday morning (9-1030) and it was a great experience. The staff was warm and welcoming, offering coffee and water immediately upon being seated. The food was delicious and served promptly. I ate the pastrami hash, which was moist and flavorful. My friends kids had the French toast and the lemon ricotta pancakes, which I was a little jealous of! The coffee was good and refreshed frequently. Friedmans is like an upscale diner, and they meet the standard. Will definitely return and will recommend to others visiting the city.

  • Review 161 (2024-06-30 - Rating: 5)

This place is very busy. Have a lot of choices to choose from. The food is good and the service is spectacular. I had the steak and eggs my wife had the avocado toast and we both shared the French toast. Definitely would come here again

  • Review 162 (2024-06-26 - Rating: 5)

Yay having staff with intelligible answers about gluten without having to ask the kitchen 5 times.Attentive service and great food in a cozy space. I love the flexibility on dishes to include normal or GF ingredients seamlessly - with everything labeled when its delivered. While GF bread will never be the same, other dishes were indistinguishable and we really enjoyed being to openly share food without a worry that our GF friend would get sick.Drinks are creative though limited to beer and wine ... and sake used for most mixed drinks. Good flexibility without a full liquor license.

  • Review 163 (2019-11-23 - Rating: 5)

EVERYTHING on this menu (except the matza ball soup) is gluten free. Not just GF options... Nope, the main menu is GF. No limited alternative menu here. Excellent food and even better service. Its very busy, so there might be a wait, but its worth it
