An intimate dining experience. It’s a bit tight at the front but plenty of space in the back. We ordered escargot and ahi tuna tartare for appetizer then beef bourguignon and skirt steak for entrees. We thought it was tasty but not amazing. We also shared a bottle of Côtes du Rhône. Would recommend for a date spot.

  • Review 2 (2024-07-17 - Rating: 5)

Such a lovely place! I came for some happy hour drinks and a snack. I also needed respite from the heat. The drinks were good, the snacks nice, the atmosphere charming and comfortable to be there by the bar as a solo visitor. I must say that the service was fantastic and it felt really like the staff were on top of everything. Professional, warm and attentive. I highly recommend it.

  • Review 3 (2024-10-20 - Rating: 4)

4 stars overall because the service was wonderful and the prices reasonable for New York. Great for a larger party. Tiger shrimp and charcuterie plates were lovely. Excellent and well priced selections of natural wines.

  • Review 4 (2024-06-02 - Rating: 5)

Adorable outdoor seating, large wine selection (although I do wish they had a Sancerre by the glass) and the escargot is the best I’ve had outside of France. Will most definitely be back.

  • Review 5 (2023-05-19 - Rating: 5)

Super cool spot for food and drinks. The foie gras was exquisite. We enjoyed the shrimp and escargots as well. We had a lovely evening!

  • Review 6 (2023-04-17 - Rating: 5)

One of the best wine bars I’ve ever been to. Great wine selection and the charcuterie was phenomenal. The employees are very nice and helpful too.

  • Review 7 (2022-11-16 - Rating: 5)

Super chill and cozy. Solid wine menu. Great music (at nice background level). Good food. Close to that feeling of (French) Grandmas cooking. Definitely recommend.

  • Review 8 (2024-07-12 - Rating: 5)

So i personally didn’t have the food but friends did and it looked and smelled great. The service was great they was on point. The drinks was spectacular. This place embodies Asian cuisine loved it definitely a sleeper 💗

  • Review 9 (2022-05-28 - Rating: 5)

An amazing local find. Went for happy hour. Stayed for dinner and dessert. Plan to be back with family, friends and for holiday parties. Wine options are great, food is fantastic, ambiance is so charming. Service is excellent.

  • Review 10 (2024-10-21 - Rating: 4)

Went for drinks; service was attentive, especially for how busy the place was on a Friday night (we were sitting at the bar counter near the door). Would return again.

  • Review 11 (2024-05-31 - Rating: 5)

I had the loveliest birthday dinner here! The owner/chef and service was fabulous. They made me and my 17 (!!) friends feel incredibly well cared for. The food was delicious as was the wine. Highly recommend booking for large parties here - the process was smooth and very rea$onable. 10/10!

  • Review 12 (2020-12-19 - Rating: 5)

This restaurant has phenomenal food, a very kind staff, and overall a great dining experience. Weve thoroughly enjoyed their indoor and outdoor dining

  • Review 13 (2021-11-01 - Rating: 5)

Incredible spot! First time Ive seen authentic Hungarian körözött in the city and cant wait to go back

  • Review 14 (2022-05-04 - Rating: 5)

Having recently had only one family dining experience here, I hope to soon remedy that (with the added plus of its perfect location downtown being an equidistant walk between both of my adult kids). I just love this place with its cozy and welcoming ambience and terrific reasonably priced wine selection (including some eastern European and organic wines well worth knowing about). Well crafted and delicious small as well as larger plates to share, and the attention to detail is really admirable... I wasnt going to let even the tiniest scrap of that gorgeous poached pear on the cheese plate be cleared away. Easy to see why it has successfully endured for this long. Thank you for a terrific time!

  • Review 15 (2024-03-21 - Rating: 5)

Food was superb. Happy hour is a bargain. Cute place. Only complaint is bar seats face a barrier between counter and kitchen so limited ability to chat with staff.

  • Review 16 (2022-05-29 - Rating: 4)

I had one of the best escargot in years. Service is fantastic and very helpful. The gluten free bread my friend ordered was amazing and I was pleasantly surprised. Wine list is very good but I have to say the by the glass can improve little. Still a very good experience overall. Definitely will go back for the escargot.

  • Review 17 (2024-03-31 - Rating: 5)

Love this place. rustic interior, great date spot, great wine and chocolate cake. take a book and go solo. not too busy but still lively.

  • Review 18 (2022-07-31 - Rating: 5)

Came here to celebrate just getting married. Everything was perfect. The staff treated us with so much care. I would recommend this place to anyone. I believe one of the staff members name was Edith and she was literally everything! Also the food! The bacon wrapped scallops and the tiger shrimp were yummy stand outs.

  • Review 19 (2022-05-18 - Rating: 5)

One of my favorite intimate wine bar/restaurants on the Lower East Side. The wine menu is so diverse and the food is super tasty and authentic. Perfect for catching up with a friend and also great for a date night. Maybe a first date night rather lol. I’ll definitely stop by again.

  • Review 20 (2022-09-08 - Rating: 5)

Small, intimate setting with great eats and a nice wine selection. we arrived a little before 8pm and were greeted promptly and sat. would make an excellent date spot. highly recommend!

  • Review 21 (2021-08-10 - Rating: 5)

Edit, the owner is the friendliest and sweetest owner Ive ever met. She has unique wines from Europe like Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia etc. but also has from the historical wine countries like France, Italy, beside the American ones. The food is also amazing, so this place is a little gem in the heart of lower Manhattan!

  • Review 22 (2013-12-05 - Rating: 4)

This is a nice French tapas bar. They have small tasty plates, and their wine selection is good. In addition to a few tables and the bar area in the front, they have a nice comfy couch corner in the back. It has never been that crowded when Ive gone so its a good place for a larger group of people. The bacon-wrapped scallops are amazing, and the cheese plate complements the wine so these two are always on my orders when I come. This is not a bad spot for a date either with a couple strategically intimate corner tables.

  • Review 23 (2023-01-07 - Rating: 5)

My wife and I have been visiting Jadis for 10+ years, and each time we visit we’re delighted by the cozy, relaxed atmosphere. We held a small gathering to celebrate our marriage at Jadis nine years ago, and recently hosted friends for a birthday celebration. Edit - the owner / manager is very friendly and accommodating, and she is a helpful food and wine guide enabling our gatherings at Jadis to be a hit. We’ll definitely be back!

  • Review 24 (2024-07-05 - Rating: 4)

Loveeed the chocolate fondant! Great place, so charming and delicious!

  • Review 25 (2020-11-05 - Rating: 5)

Quiet cozy wine bar with great selection of wines. Had a Cote de Rhone, risotto puffs, salmon crackers and, bread and olive oil. Everything was great! If you want a place where you can hear your date because its not loud and wonderful food you should come here.

  • Review 26 (2015-07-14 - Rating: 5)

This place is a gem. The owner is incredible; she provided very personalized, high quality service. The wine selection is unique and delicious. We had bacon wrapped scallops and escargot - which melted in the mouth and paired beautifully with the wine.Dont pass this place by!

  • Review 27 (2024-04-25 - Rating: 5)

My favorite n Best salad in the world

  • Review 28 (2018-05-05 - Rating: 5)

Wonderful budget friendly esoteric wine list in a dark refined environment, helpful casual but effective service that gives honest answers. Nice tapa style and small dish (farm to table in a way) approach. If you go in the evenings, bring a date! Nice variety of people and not too loud. A peaceful back room too.

  • Review 29 (2024-08-04 - Rating: 5)

Chilled out bar with great wine by the glass selection.

  • Review 30 (2017-04-11 - Rating: 4)

This is one of my go-to cheap wine bars. There are no shocking discoveries in the wine list, but its more of the old-reliable. The space, despite cramped quarters and less-than-great furniture, somehow manages to be comfortable. The only downside, for me, is that often there is smokiness from toasting bread and it stays with you after you leave.

  • Review 31 (2017-12-20 - Rating: 4)

Great vibe in a quiet neighborhood, but the mood and atmosphere was just right for a cozy small dinner. Loved the Alsacienne with bacon and a crisp bite. The wait staff was very up to the task always making sure your glass of water was filled. Definitely will return.

  • Review 32 (2024-08-09 - Rating: 5)

Natalie is incredible! Some of the best service I’ve gotten in Manhattan. The Happy Hour is an incredible deal and don’t skip on the cheese board!

  • Review 33 (2019-06-26 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 34 (2023-10-25 - Rating: 5)

We ended the evening at Jadis and were pleased by the great atmosphere and the good wine selection. Service was excellent

  • Review 35 (2018-12-19 - Rating: 5)

Good place. Big wine selection. Only one tap beer, however, the beer was good, fresh and cold and they clean their lines. There were no unpleasant aftertastes or odours like in most bars.

  • Review 36 (2020-09-12 - Rating: 5)

Super nice team and great service!! Food & drinks arrived quickly and the food was really good

  • Review 37 (2012-08-26 - Rating: 5)

This is a very cute wine bar, great for dates, in the East Village. They have a large selection of reasonably priced wines and a menu of light foods to eat too. The mac and cheese tartlettes and mushroom truffle risotto puffs are particularly good.

  • Review 38 (2017-09-30 - Rating: 5)

What a charming and slightly hidden wine bar! This is off the beaten path of most LES spots, but definitely worth a visit. Wonderful wine list and delicious bites line the menu of this cozy spot.

  • Review 39 (2024-10-11 - Rating: 5)

Amazing space, great atmosphere, awesome people

  • Review 40 (2015-02-01 - Rating: 5)

An amazing wine list to match an amazing menu! Their duck moose is delightfully delicious and the quiche is crispy and sinful. A surprising find in a dumpy neighborhood and worth beong on the East Side.

  • Review 41 (2018-04-24 - Rating: 5)

Jadis is my favorite bar in New York. Not only do they have an incredible environment, they also have fantastic food and a diverse wine list.Pro tip: Try the grapefruit sangria. My girlfriend doesnt like grapefruit but even she loves the sangria.

  • Review 42 (2021-02-19 - Rating: 5)

Came here for the first time on Valentine’s Day weekend, great to be back to indoor dining in NYC. Owner was very generous and kind, service was great and socially distanced. Definitely coming back!

  • Review 43 (2020-08-04 - Rating: 5)

My boyfriend and I decided to come to Jadis for a quick drink on a Sunday Night. Jadis was one of the few restaurants that were open past 10pm which was great for us because we were lucked out on other restaurants that closed at 10pm.Jadis has their menu online. All you have to do is scan their barcode and the menu appears. You would have to your place your order with one of their waiters.Good customer service would like to come back in the afternoon though.

  • Review 44 (2022-04-09 - Rating: 5)

Visited here two times and always perfect! Once had beef bourguignon and was almost exactly the same quality available in France. Perfect vibe - not so loud but also quite lively

  • Review 54 (2024-05-24 - Rating: 5)

Good happy hour and relaxing ambiance. Loved the interior design, reminded me of a wine cellar with its low lighting and the brick. Like many NY spots, so much bigger than you can expect from the outside.

Went for a glass of wine and ended up closing the place out it was so good. The wine selection they have is wide and all the staff is knowledgeable enough to help those of use who have no idea what we actually like in wine. Pricing is super reasonable and can get away with around 50$ per person for a couple of glasses of the good stuff

  • Review 82 (2023-10-05 - Rating: 5)

One of the best happy hours Ive been to in the city! We went at around 5 on a Thursday and we were one of the only tables inside. The server was attentive and kept our drinks filled. What we ordered: I started off with the seasonal wine and my boyfriend got the Aperol spritz. My wine was great, but the aperol spritz could have used more aperol. Then i ordered the sangria and my bf got a beer. We also split the cheese spread, which was prepared nicely, but was nothing special (but also only $6 so I guess we shouldnt have had high hopes).Overall the value for the money here is great! This HH is definitely worth checking out.

The server was kind enough to let me use the bathroom after a long day… once I saw the interior decor, I immediately fell in love. It’s both cozy and romantic. Perfect for a night cap or a night alone. My friends and I had a glass of one of the Spanish wines that a sweet lady (who I presume to be the owner) recommended. It was delicious!! Will be back soon

Popped in here after having dinner at a place nearby where they did not serve alcohol. Great place if you are interested in sitting down and being able to take in conversation from your companion. Wines are priced from $8+, so some of them could be pricey, but they have a decent selection of by the glass wines, that you can also get by the carafe or the bottle.Beware, we sat down near the front at the bar but they actually do the cooking there, so the waitress will take your orders from your side of the bar. Downside to this is that if youve already eaten, you watch them prepare some appetizing food and may be tempted to order more to eat.

Love love LOVE this place. A friend and I visited recently and the owner is to put it bluntly - a complete legend. Engaging, funny, beyond knowledgeable and generous, we ended up staying for many glasses of wine and some delicious cheese too! Will definitely be going back.

Food is great. Eggplant with tahini dip is perfect, and so is the quiche, which is rich. Good service.

Great selection of wine plus an A+ cheese plate.

Drinks are great, HH until 6pm. Food is delicious- our favorite is ceviche. However, best part is the service, we always have the same waiter and he is nice, prompt and knowledgeable!

Aesthetically appealing space overall with wood finishes, exposed brick, and interesting furniture. There is a nice lounge space for a large group in the back, and the restaurant has nice plates for sharing. Books and games available.

Best wine bar ever (with special Hungarian wines too which is a rarity in NYC) and the warmest welcome in the midst of the coldest winter too.

Really nice and cozy place. Our server was amazing

  • Review 134 (2017-06-28 - Rating: 5)

Lovely, cozy space and amazing 5-7 daily happy hour. I was looking for a place for a group of women on a Saturday afternoon/eve and this was absolutely perfect. Everyone was charmed by the place and it was nice being able to chat with friends in a living room-like setting (couches!) while attentive servers brought us drinks (and plenty of water). Happy hour prices were great, but regular prices are reasonable too. // Update: Ive since brought a couple of groups here on weeknights and still love it. Its quiet enough for conversation, which makes it a rare find(!), and theres something good for everyone (wine, beer, cider, cocktails, vegetarian & gluten-free food options...). Perfect spot for a friendly meetup.

One of my favorite wine bars in the city. Light bites such as sandwich to quiches to salads drive the menu here. Small space with low lighting. Perfect date spot.

A chic wine bar in the Lower East Side. Its a great place for a glass wine after dinner.

  • Review 140 (2015-03-26 - Rating: 4)

Not much to say here. It was a cute wine bar that is a nice spot to relax a little bit before moving on. It is dark and quite, at least in the back where we were it was quite.

A chill wine bar with great tapas style food and chill ambiance. The back is great for larger parties, intimate without being secluded.

  • Review 148 (2012-07-27 - Rating: 4)

One of my favorite restaurants in the LES and one of the best charcuterie and cheese plates in NYC for $18. Also, the Risotto Truffle Puffs are the bombs.

Intimate setting, tasty food and great wine

  • Review 150 (2019-06-26 - Rating: 5)

I have been here several times and the service is only surpassed by the quality of the food and drink. The Mac and cheese bites are dangerously delicious and the sandwiches are all amazing

  • Review 170 (2024-05-01 - Rating: 4)

The place has a certain charm (for a basement). The wines by the glass are quite ordinary, especially those from the Happy hour special. The food is even more ordinary, its not really a restaurant, not a big kitchen either. Its more of a happy hour type place.
