We had a fabulous time here! Our server was kind and spoke in English with us; highly knowledgeable and based on our individual likes and dislikes, recommended some excellent wines. We also ordered a charcuterie, as wine always tastes better with a little food. Our server played a guessing game with our daughter, that if she could guess where her wine came from and the grape, they would gift her a bottle free. First glass she got the grape correctly, but wrong region. Second glass . . . just fun and laughter! Great time!!

An upscale wine bar with a very comprehensive wine list, skewed French. Selection by glass is very good too. The burned basque cheesecake was good, but I like when it is more burnt outside. The cheese portion in a cheese plate is smaller than i expected.There is plenty of place and it was 50% full on Saturday night after 8pm so we enjoyed a non-crowded boho ambiance.

I attended a new years night as I was invited by a friend who works here (disclaimer given) to a themed space party. The decor was nicely done and everybody was dressed up accordingly. I was happy to see people take it seriously and was told the establishment does hold regular programming.I was introduced to the crew who were all a nice set of people. Given they had a show to run, we said our pleasantries and off they went making other people merry. Let my friend do the ordering. There was an event menu. We first got oysters and some skewers, both of which were nice and tasty. The star of the night was the dessert shaped like an egg shell with a wine jelly.The live dj and music was popping and we both danced and enjoyed the music. So with drinks and two appetizers and one dessert and the music/theme was a night well spent.

If every wine by the glass on the menu is stellar, I can only imagine the bottle selection. The food is also out of this world—every dish was so good that we felt compelled to keep ordering more. The service was a standout; whether at a table or at the bar, the friendly and knowledgeable staff has you covered from the moment you walk in the door.

Nice wine bar in Manhattan! Note: if you made a reservation do try to make it on time. We were running around five minutes late and that nearly cost us the reservation as this spot is busy! The wine selection is pretty extensive, though the food menu items are more limited. We ordered a meat and cheese board which ended up being quite tasty, however it was definitely on the pricier side. Overall ambience is pleasant, there’s candles and boppy music. This is a nice spot for a date, or a girls night out in my opinion, but I don’t see myself returning regularly.

Came here on a Friday night, so it was pretty busy. Was quite loud, so pretty hard to have convos across the table. The wine was unique and very good, but the super French beef tartare was a little too salty for my preference. We also got the basque cheesecake which was quite good. The sauvignon blanc I tried was very fruity and really nice. The pinot noir had a strong earthy smell, but I enjoyed the taste.

Hands down, this is the very best wine bar in the city, with a wine list only comparable to top restaurants in Paris. If you want to experience wines from the top wineries, this place is the perfect destination to go.I had a second visit, and once again, I had a blast. Malcolm, the sommelier, has always been so attentive, welcoming, and friendly, with extensive knowledge about wine. The food pairing suggestions were also spot on.

Ive been coming to La Compagnie over the last several weeks and I have to say this place is amazing and is now one of my favorite go-to stops when Im in the area.The staff is very friendly and welcoming and the bartender Leila is amazing. She takes the time to make you feel welcome and is knowledgeable on the wines and food offerings. When someone takes the time to know your name and makes you a little nametag for your bar perch you almost feel like Norm in Cheers.The ambiance is second to none with nooks and crannies for private intimate conversations or kicking back for a bottle of wine with good friends. Its good to have a place like this that is classy but unpretentious. Bravo!

One of my most favorite wine bars in the city. Vast wine menu with reasonable and honest mark up. Everything tastes great but french onion grilled cheese in particular is absolutely phenomenal. I was very sad when they briefly took that off the menu… but they sure listened to the voice of customers and revived it - made me very happy. Thanks La Compagnie team for great food, wine, and hospitality.

Stopped by during an outdoor bazaar pop up event and I cannot say enough good things about this place. The wines were delicious, the service was fantastic, even if the indoors werent open. I definitely need to go for indoor service next time! My friend also loves the wine tastings they host.. Definitely a place I will visit more often!

If youre looking for a world wide selection of great wines you have to check this place out. Its a no frills wine experience perfect for real cellar rats. They have a nice selection of library wines at very good prices, and the wine staff knows their stuff. The food is very good, smaller plates, perfect for sharing with a group. The service is a little flakey. We ordered the octopus, which we never got and they brought us a pasta we never ordered. They took it off the bill, but we would have really liked to have had the octopus dish. All in all a very enjoyable experience, just make sure you check your bill.

With an extensive wine menu and curated food menu, this place is clearly all about the wine. My table was recommended an incredibly smooth and dry Malbec that we thoroughly enjoyed. We had this with a burrata, some spaghetti squash, and the short rib crepe. Delicious! Each dish was simple, but clearly done with great ingredients and finesse. Certainly worth the splurge!

We came here at 5:30 on a Friday — serendipitously aligned with Happy Hour :) we proceed to have four dishes off the menu— everything was fantastic. The scallop crudité— the pasta— the Romanesco all OUTSTANDING. The service was excellent, the vibe was chill, and by 6:30 the place was packed. The only thing to know is that it is a tad hard to hear in here— the acoustics are the only real downfall to this gem of a restaurant and wine bar.

Walked in on a Friday night and was seated immediately at the bar, which I highly recommend for a place like this. Michael was super knowledgable and helped us get started with a few white wines we would have never selected ourselves, really pushing us to try something new, which we really appreciated! Penny was also awesome & super helpful when it came to picking the next wine and pairing it with our food. Highly recommend a post-meal cheese board. The vibes are great, the food was incredible, and the wine list is truly “bangers only”! Can’t wait to come back again.

La Compagnie des Vins S. has an excellent and extensive wine list with a combination of marquee brands as well as niche brands with a particular attention to grower champagnes and Burgundies. The space is wonderfully conducive to a pleasant few hours of enjoying several glasses of somm-worthy wine, some delightful food and cozy or romantic conversation. The food is also particular well executed and reasonably sized. Unfortunately, the benefits and positives of the wine list, space and food are overwhelmed by a lack of attention to service. For the precise attention paid to the wine list, it is surprising that there is a correspondent lack of attention to delivering service that is commensurate with the prices and quality of the wines and the food. As someone who ordered two bottles (one bottle of Alexandre Filaine and one bottle of Vire Vlesse Thevenet) among 3 people along with several appetisers (6 appetisers: 4 cauliflower, 1 burrata, 1 sun chokes), for a per customer price of over USD 100 for three customers, it is disappointing the level of sevice. As a comparison, it would be a better customer experience to go to Racines or the bar at Restaurant Daniel than La Compagnie. I hope the owners pay attention to delivering a better customer experience with excellent service than is now currently available.

I went to the Science of Pairings event here last night, and it was wonderful! Very small group of people interested in learning about wine and food, and the sommelier gave us a wonderful introduction to the art of pairing food and wine. He was incredibly knowledgeable but approachable as well! If you are there, be sure to ask for him (Vitaliy) to recommend a pairing.After the event, my friend and I shared the most delectable cassoulet Ive ever laid eyes upon. All of the dishes I tried, including the small bites we had during our wine tasting, were excellent, with complex flavor profiles that stimulate your taste buds in unexpected ways. I highly recommend the popcorn... Dont ask, just try it :) Youll be glad you did!

It didn’t have much vegetarian options although, the grilled cheese with mushrooms and tomato jam was a hit! I was very opposed to this because I HATE mushrooms but I really enjoyed, REALLY enjoyed this sandwich - thanks to the waiter. Australia, France and Bulgaria (well almost round the world).For food I had the sunchokes - which were delicious enough for me to order seconds. My colleague had pork sliders and he lived it too.For dessert ww had the mango dessert.Only one gripe: for vegetarians not much on the menu. There was the burrata, the sunchokes and one more dish. If La Compagnie hosts another Bronx Pit BBQ Night I would suggest they go heavy on the red wines. The flavors of this bbq are robust. My favorite? Definitely the ribs. They were delish. Also, the greens were good! Oh and the hot link was too.Review Re: La Compagnie’s full experience: the food at this restaurant is heavy! Delicious, but heavy!! The shrimp in the red butter sauce and the duck confit are amazing. The confit was even good cold the next day as left overs! The tartar over the marrow was really good. Super rich. Couldn’t eat all of it. The fig and arugula salad was light and refreshing but the figs themselves were not very flavorful. Also, the dressing was a bit salty. I loved the burrata with the endive!!!! That was a great starter. They also had an amazing cheddar. The pasta with calamari was standard to me, the others in my party absolutely loved it.This place hits you over the head with flavor in everything EXCEPT THE WINE. I am not a wine person, but when I have it I like a full bodied wine. The Pinot noir was pretty good.All in all a great experience. With great food. Good energy. Seriously tho, I’d rather have a less expensive, more rounded out, and full bodied red than anything I tasted on either night I went.The sparkling white I was had was nice, but I had it with ribs so it wasn’t strong enough to counter the rib flavor.Tables are too small.
