We came here for dinner post matinee for Stereophonic. We were early for our reservation but we were seated quickly nonetheless.Service was quick and friendly. Our waitress was attentive without being intrusive. Great service overall!I had the $55 special Prix Fixe - I chose French Onion Soup, Steak Frites and the Chocolate Souffle. An absolute killer value, as getting these three from the menu would be $78. And these are the menu items. Not a special version for a special. All were delicious.I highly recommend eating here!

This place is a phenomenal bistro & restaurant! 🍴Steak Frites Bistro serves an incredible selection of delicious 🤤 meats 🍖 - definitely get the Steak 🥩 and Fries 🍟 for two with a side salad 🥗, and Chocolate 🍫 Souffle! Everything was fantastic! The staff 👨‍🍳 is super friendly, welcoming, and professional! The service is quick ⏲️, ambience 🎶 is wonderful, and they have lots of indoor seating 🪑 (though making a reservation 🛎️ is highly recommended). I wish I knew about this place earlier!

  • Review 3 (2025-01-01 - Rating: 5)

I had a wonderful experience at this french bistro! I was there on New Years Eve with a couple of friends. We all had the prix fixe which includes a starter, a main and a desert. We got some cheese, the steak frite, and the chocolate soufflé. The food is delicious and the portion sizes are great! The medium rare steak was a highlight! The service was wonderful, and by the time we left my friends were practically in a food coma.Ill be coming back to this place with my family.

  • Review 4 (2024-09-05 - Rating: 5)

This restaurant was exceptional!!! Getting in without a reservation was a stroke of luck, and were so glad we did. The atmosphere transported us back to Paris. The menu was diverse, and each dish was as unique as its name. Id love to know the secret behind the potato purées incredible flavor. I didnt drink on this occasion, but if I had, the wine selection would have been a delight. My only regret is not ordering the French onion soup. Ill definitely be back!

  • Review 5 (2024-12-14 - Rating: 5)

The best mussels Ive ever eaten (and Ive eaten plenty in Paris). Perfectly seasoned. The unfiltered cider was also terrific. They have a fixed menu for 50 usd at lunch that includes your choice of an entree, a main dish and dessert. Or you can order a la carte. The service is top notch as they are aware of you, they think in advance, they bring the dishes in a timely manner (all on the table together and only if you are done with the previous dish) and they are kind and helpful.

  • Review 6 (2024-11-04 - Rating: 5)

Drinks and atmosphere were amazing. I loved the fries as well! I ordered the faux filet. The cut was nice, I didnt care for the sauce. I also had the creme brulee, it was good!

  • Review 7 (2024-10-27 - Rating: 5)

Came here for both dinner (al a carte) and lunch Prix fixe.Didnt disappoint either way! Out of the two I preferred the lunch deal - hard to beat 3 courses for $38. Youll definitely leave a little too full which I dont think people would be upset about. The steaks were a definite highlight.Edit: returned for another trip - porterhouse dry age special was a real treat! Be sure to get it if its on the menu. Great to share between 2-3 guests.

  • Review 8 (2024-10-10 - Rating: 4)

Came here for dinner on my last day in NYC. We got the escargot, and the steak. The sauce for the escargot was good but I probably wouldnt get it again. The service came with bread and butter. I wasnt a fan of the bread. The frites were nice and crispy.

  • Review 9 (2024-07-22 - Rating: 5)

Excellent place with really good and efficient service. Food was great. We had the fixed menu which, for $55, included an appetizer, an entrée and dessert. The wine suggested by the friendly hostess marinated perfectly. It was a great choice for my birthday dinner.

  • Review 10 (2024-09-17 - Rating: 5)

Perfectly cooked steak made our night here the best, the tartare is a good one but if you’re coming from Europe( which I am) the pate is not what you know to be, it’s different consistent and taste but was interesting to try it.Anna the server she is the top, thanks her for such a treatment, she was nice to everybody and everyone had smile on their face always when she came to the tables

  • Review 11 (2024-06-19 - Rating: 4)

Got the Prix Fixe Dinner Menu for 55. Portions were huge, and servers were constantly checking in on us. However, the hanger steak was too tough for our liking even when we got them medium rare. The french onion soup was too salty for our tastes as well. Chocolate Souffle was the only highlight of this whole meal. But for this price in NYC for a 3 course steak meal, I have to give them 4 stars. Come for the lunch prix fixe, it will be more cost efficient.

I’m from Japan. Food, services, staffs and atmosphere are so great. I wanna come here again through 14 hours flight. Thank you.

  • Review 13 (2024-02-23 - Rating: 5)

First time coming here for dinner and it was a cozy little place with great food and service. The steak was cooked as ordered and there was a prefix menu special so an appetizer, entree and dessert was $55. The fries were thin and crispy, just as fries should be. Overall a great French restaurant, not a lot of space between tables so can get pretty intimate but great atmosphere and service.

  • Review 14 (2024-12-27 - Rating: 5)

If youre looking for a nice dinner in the area this is the place. French onion soup was great, beef wellington was great. I left my card at the table and the owner ran down the block to give it back to me. Lovely little restaurant.

  • Review 15 (2024-01-28 - Rating: 5)

Love, love, love the place. Food is great, love our waitress ( didnt ask for her name unfortunately), she was funny and very kind. I am from ND, was visiting my son in NY and had a great time! Check them out, you will not regret it!

  • Review 16 (2024-12-31 - Rating: 5)

I have walked by Steak Frites countless times but didnt come in until last night. I had the pre-fix and it was phenomenal. One phenomal meal doesnt mean a restaurant is great; but, I came back in today for lunch and I was equally pleased!!Ken crushed it in terms of hospitality - despite being being very busy. While I didnt get much attention, the service was on point! This is going to by my go to spot looking forward!! The basic bottle of wine is fantastic and the quality of food is excellent.Highly recommend!

  • Review 17 (2024-12-19 - Rating: 5)

My partner and I were visiting New York for a few days and stumbled upon this restaurant. The atmosphere was so cozy and relaxing, and the food was fanastic. But most importantly, our waitress Ana made our whole night with her friendly and contagious energy. We had such a great evening and will absolutely come back next time we visit New York.

  • Review 18 (2024-03-23 - Rating: 5)

Just tried for my Anniversary with Hubby. AMAZING PLACE.Felt like were sitting in a Bistro in Paris. Top notch everything. Great service, amazing food. Hubby ordered Oysters and I had Onion Soup for appetizers and we both had Hanger Steak as an entree. (all pictured) Had the best time. Super friendly Host.Go and enjoy.

  • Review 19 (2024-09-22 - Rating: 4)

Beautiful bistro serving good food. Highly recommend the shoestring fries as well as the Brussels sprouts. The deconstructed blintz was fun as well. The steak was really good, but I have really high standards. The steak was cooked perfectly but I think the steak could have been better with the butter on the side. As is, the steak is a little too heavy. But otherwise great place to visit, will go again.

  • Review 20 (2024-01-19 - Rating: 5)

The first time on this US Vacation the food critic in the back of my mind was silent and I enjoyed a great three course meal.I especially liked the use of the taragon in the lobster bisque, the great sear and quality of the steak and the balance of the ceeme brule. At home I would not even get a space at the bar without a reservation at this quality level. If I could give six stars I would.

  • Review 21 (2023-09-07 - Rating: 5)

Steak Frites Bistro has this vintage vibe that makes you feel like you’re in a in a Bistro in Paris but in reality it’s located right by the Lincoln Tunnel. They have a fantastic deal of $35 and $48 prix fixe lunch and dinner, respectively, which comes with a starter, entree, and dessert. They have fresh beau soleil oysters, mild in brininess, which is perfect for oyster starters or just anyone who loves oysters. Crepes are delicate and thin which matched the smoke salmon well. Their bearnaise sauce caught our eye so we ordered their chateaubriand. They brought the filet out first in their cooking pan for us to look at it. Then it was brought out perfectly cooked at the temperature we asked for. Steak was juicy and flavorful with tenderness that melts in your mouth. The fries are so fluffy, thin, and crispy which was so satisfying. We usually need to go look for a dessert spot after dinner. At Steak Frites, we just need to save room for dessert. The soufflé is super super super super fluffy. Taste exactly like the ones I’ve tried in Paris or maybe even better. Bon appetit.

  • Review 22 (2024-12-26 - Rating: 5)

The menu is selective, but this was the most amazing salad, steak and frites, and chocolate cake (my choice of dessert) I’ve ever had. It’s sad it’s just a fleeting memory now. It was delicious please go.

  • Review 23 (2024-10-26 - Rating: 5)

This is my kind of place--the kind where you feel, on the one hand, you never left home, but on the other, that you were exceptionally well looked after. For me, that person is Anna (AH-na), who recalls what you like and converses with you as if she has known you for years. I have a short list of those in restaurants who enable you to feel that way and she has been added to it. My last visit was on my birthday, with a friend, and Anna made sure that all went well. I love the French onion soup, the country pate, the top-shelf bread and equally top-shelf butter. And I love steak frites--the dish--because it has a comfy-cozy quality about it.

  • Review 24 (2023-12-24 - Rating: 5)

My girlfriend and I came here in June, seemed relatively new, but everything was fantastic! I’m 2nd generation French, so I was so excited to find escargot, my girlfriend tried it for the first time and loved it, so did I, reminded me of my Mimi’s! Our steak was cooked perfectly!! The bearnaise sauce was great too! We also had the chocolate soufflé, wasn’t bad, just more chocolate than i typically like that’s not on them though, was made great!

  • Review 25 (2024-05-21 - Rating: 5)

Feeling in France with the real baquète and a Cote de Bœuf as it should be prepared. All freshly prepared. What a relief after all the pre cooked meals that are served in most restaurants in NY. Bit expensive but you get the real stuff.

  • Review 26 (2024-12-19 - Rating: 5)

The atmosphere is incredibly beautiful and cosy, and the service impeccable. Ana was professional, funny as hell, and super helpful regarding the menu. She was able to accommodate our off-menu request for a mocktail and it was so good and beautifully presented too. We ordered the green salad, onion soup, roast chicken, steak frites (of course!), crème brûlée and chocolate lava cake. We loved everything. I particularly liked the chicken and crème brûlée. The portions were generous and everything tasted fresh. I would definitely come back here and I would bring my friends next time Im in town. I highly recommend. The entire staff was friendly, to us and to each other... a good vibe makes all the difference.

  • Review 27 (2024-10-05 - Rating: 5)

WOW! As a steak house enthusiast I have to say this was one of the best meals of my life. The service was incredibly accommodating, attentive, and polite. My espresso martini was delicious and the French onion soup had a heaping amount of bread underneath the melted cheese. It was the perfect ratio of onions, bread, broth, to cheese and was the right amount of salty delicious. The steak was melt in your mouth amazing paired with a side salad that had a fabulous cherry vinegarette type of dressing. Will definitely be back as it was amazing from start to finish.

  • Review 28 (2023-05-30 - Rating: 5)

Didnt expect it to be so good. Everything was just perfect, the fires are the best, the Hanger steak felt like tenderloin, delicious and cooked to perfect MR. The manager is a perfect gentleman. Perfect little Bistrò with also nice music selection.

  • Review 29 (2024-11-05 - Rating: 5)

The waitress was a pleasure and also gave great local reccomendations. The food and drinks were amazing. The lychee drink hit the spot. They have a pre fix menu which I thought was pretty cool. The Steak was flavorful and the fries were cooked to perfection. I would definitely go back.

  • Review 30 (2023-10-02 - Rating: 5)

Delicious roasted chicken here!!The oysters are small but juicy. It worth the price here!! Convenient transportation nearby Javits Center

  • Review 31 (2024-12-11 - Rating: 5)

Everything was amazing! Ambience was lively and buzzing with action when we walked in on a whim so we knew it was the right choice. The food was all perfectly executed. High quality steaks. We had raw oysters which were fresh, ice cold and expertly shucked. The French onion soup was one of the better onion soups I’ve had. The steak tartare was also ice cold and perfectly seasoned..delicious! The cote de boeuf is a showstopper. Presented on a sizzling platter of fresh herbs and roasted garlic then brought back to the kitchen to be sliced. Again, perfectly cooked, seasoned and a well rested steak. A carefully crafted and reasonably priced wine list complimented the beef wonderfully. The staff were all friendly and casual as well as knowledgeable, making great recommendations when necessary. Very professional. Dessert was creme brûlée and chocolate soufflé. Perfect ending to the perfect French Bistro experience!

  • Review 32 (2024-08-09 - Rating: 5)

This place is amazing. I had their three course dinner menu, which I think it’s a reasonable price. I got the onion soup, which passed my high standards, was one of the best I ever had, similar to the best ones I had in France. The scallops were so flavorful too, a perfect combination with the purée. To finish, I had the crème brûlée, which was delicious too. Only down side is that I came alone, since it was a business trip, if my wife were here I had tried more great food ☺️. This place is like a gem.

  • Review 33 (2024-11-06 - Rating: 5)

Special thanks to Anna and Maggie, this restaurant should proud to hire them. They’re so nice, professional, knowledgeable, friendly. 5 star service and food is delicious, restaurant is small and cosy place. We left so satisfied and happy.

  • Review 34 (2023-09-08 - Rating: 4)

If youre looking for a good steak with a reasonable price (for a steakhouse), this is the place. We ordered the Cote de Boeuf, which is intended for two people. Delicious! Its first shown to you uncut and on a bed of smoking herbs and then cut up and plated with an herb butter sauce on top. The dish comes with fries and a salad. Steak was cooked perfectly and we got a good recommendation for a wine to pair. Friendly staff and the ambiance was warm and welcoming.

  • Review 35 (2024-12-05 - Rating: 5)

Great food, wonderful service and a very sophisticated atmosphere. I would recommend booking - we didnt book and were lucky to be seated at the bar where we could still order full meals.

  • Review 36 (2024-07-02 - Rating: 5)

The owners are great. The staff is fabulous. The food is amazing. Their steak has no right to be this good and it not be a steakhouse. In fact their steaks rival most steakhouses in the city, and for the price they might be one of the best steaks in the city!!! Bold statements, I know. But youll not be disappointed.

  • Review 37 (2024-04-28 - Rating: 5)

Perfect experience. Amazing service. Anna took great care of us and we loved it… Super delicious oysters, amazing chateaubriand!!! We will come back! Thanks again

  • Review 38 (2024-09-02 - Rating: 5)

An outstanding wine list of little-known Rhone and Languedoc reds distiguishes this reasonably-priced steakhouse from the competition. The food is excellent, the service attentive, and Maggie the hostess made sure our evening was special. We will be back!

  • Review 39 (2023-04-04 - Rating: 5)

A lovely French bistro at the heart of the Garment District.Stepping in felt like walking into a local restaurant at the back streets of Paris. Great vibes, delicious food.

  • Review 40 (2024-10-02 - Rating: 5)

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here, the Prix Fixe was a fantastic value for the generously portioned 3-course meal! The restaurant was well-staffed, and the folks there were very friendly. Highly recommend coming here!

Wow!! Amazing food, we had a great steak, amazing flies, but the the soufflé, dear god the soufflé, it rekindle my will to keep on living, I highly recommend stopping here, the staff is great, the food is great and do yourself a favor and get that soufflé. Its life changing.

  • Review 46 (2023-03-14 - Rating: 5)

Right around the corner from the Arlo Midtown hotel, this spot is an absolute gem. My daughter and I each had a french onion soup and split the hangar steak entree. Both items were delicious but the steak and fries (we also got the poivre sauce) were the real stars. It was the perfect late evening dinner after a day of zig-zagging Manhattan. It was cooked perfectly, and the bistro was cozy with great service. Would absolutely return on future visits to Manhattan.

  • Review 47 (2024-09-21 - Rating: 5)

Made a reservation with a note of an early annaversay dinner. Was not expecting anything but staff made the experience amazing. Food was great along with service.

  • Review 51 (2024-07-31 - Rating: 4)

Went here during restaurant week. Food and drink were both very good. Our steaks were a little overcooked, but the owner overheard us and offered to replace them for free.

  • Review 52 (2024-08-07 - Rating: 4)

They have an awesome restaurant week deal.Very good classic French onion soup. The frites are awesome, steak cooked beautiful.Creme brûlée could be a little bit bigger.Service was absolutely on top. It’s just a little loud in the restaurant.

  • Review 53 (2024-06-09 - Rating: 5)

This was a really sneaky good space to eat! It’s a small space so I recommend a reservation. I had a 5pm table and it was empty to start but filled in quickly. I felt the prices were reasonable. I had the hangar steak with the frites and felt it was worth the price. We were slightly over $100 for a table for two. Definitely will be back in the future

  • Review 54 (2024-05-30 - Rating: 5)

Excellent steak and great service in a small intimate restaurant punching high above its weight. The hanger steak is well-seasoned with a nice char but melty soft inside. Definitely on par with high end steakhouses and at more reasonable price points. Value for money with the quality you get. Memorable last meal in NYC for us.

  • Review 55 (2024-02-19 - Rating: 5)

Food was great, so was the service- cant wait to go back. Ken was the best!

  • Review 56 (2024-07-15 - Rating: 5)

Cute little place in the center of manhattan. Quiet with french art and antique decor. They do their signature dish so well. And if you come for lunch, the prix fixe menu is such an awesome deal. I would totally recommend.

  • Review 57 (2024-07-20 - Rating: 5)

Basically, this is the experience you want in NYC. Friendly, witty and considerate staff. We had the super tender Chateaubriand and a sour cherry clafoutis as a desert, all very tasty. Highly recommended!

  • Review 58 (2024-07-29 - Rating: 5)

Wonderful experience! I should have come here sooner. Im a solo traveler, so I sat at the bar and had fantastic service. I chose the $38 lunch Prix Fixe, and it was so good! The onion soup was the best Ive ever had. The same could be said for the steak frites. And I almost cried over the creme brulee. Im not kidding! Give them a try! I will be back again. Oh, last thing to mention...there was so much food for one person, I took 75% of the steak and frites to go. Gave it to a homeless young man in the neighborhood. He was very thankful. 😁

  • Review 59 (2024-05-04 - Rating: 5)

Steak Frites Bistro is a very nice little neighborhood bistro (yes even in the heart of New York City). While still lots of tourists around, this spot seems to hide a bit and feel a little more homey in a good way. They have a great cocktail menu, and the prix fixe dinner menu is a very solid deal. The service is also very solid - everyone from the host to our servers were very attentive and fun to talk to.

During our vacation in New York, my wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Steak Frites Bistro in Hells Kitchen, and it was truly a delightful experience from start to finish. We opted for the prix fixe menu and were thoroughly impressed by the quality and flavor of each course. The onion soup was a standout, perfectly seasoned and topped with a generous amount of gooey cheese and croutons. It was a warm and comforting start to our meal, setting the tone for the rest of the evening. For our main course, we both chose the steak and frites, and we were not disappointed. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, and the frites were crispy and delicious. It was a classic dish executed flawlessly. What truly elevated our experience was our waiter, Bruno, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable dining experience. His attention to detail and genuine warmth made us feel welcome and cared for throughout the evening. He recommended the perfect wine pairing and made sure we had everything we needed.Overall, Steak Frites Bistro exceeded our expectations in every way. The food was exceptional, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was charming. We cant wait to return on our next visit to New York.

  • Review 67 (2024-08-30 - Rating: 5)

All the food is perfectly prepared. A bit pricey for a brasserie but nice setting. Staff is attentive. Make sure you get the chocolate souffle.

  • Review 68 (2024-12-27 - Rating: 5)

Steak Frites is legit amazing. We had the burgers, steak tartare, hanger steak, and the beef Wellington—everything was spot on. The flavors were unreal, and you could tell they don’t mess around with quality. Service was super friendly and quick, and the vibe in there was chill but classy. Definitely worth checking out.

I’ve been here twice now, had an amazing experience both times, one of my favorite spots in the city.Highly recommend the dry aged NY strip paired with the onion soup, their salad is great as well.Cozy, casual ambiance and lightning fast service, will definitely keep coming back!

French dishes with the proper design to make it feel better. We went on odd hours and the full menu wasnt available, but we didnt need it to beWe ordered the 32oz rib eye for two people and was more than enough.Well presented and cooked perfectly. They show you the full steak after cooked and before cutting it to then bring it over with salad and roasted garlic. The dessert was even superior, a chocolate souffle freshly made that put a high note to close the deal. Will be back.

  • Review 71 (2024-02-12 - Rating: 4)

Steak was good. I’m not a fan of fries however if you are it’s unlimited. Service was good and fast.

  • Review 72 (2025-01-05 - Rating: 4)

The food was delicious. Had a burger, steak, and escargot. The only remark i can leave is the salt amount on the burger. I was concerned about the amount of salt. The saltiness overpowered the taste. But overall, all was delicious 😋 and I will definitely go back to try other items on the menu.

Great place, Great Staff!Management needs to re-address the Frites. Lacking flavor and texture. Fryer oil taste cheap. Much Much better recipe’s available especially for a namesake.

The service at this restaurant is top-notch, with waiters working seamlessly as a team to ensure a delightful dining experience. From promptly replacing water bottles to clearing finished plates and setting new utensils, their attentiveness is admirable. The food portions are generous and beautifully presented. However, due to its popularity, reservations are highly recommended as the restaurant tends to get crowded. The space feels a bit cramped considering the number of patrons it serves, resulting in small tables that struggle to accommodate the sizable plates. Additionally, improvements to the acoustics would enhance the overall experience.

Excellent food and drinks. Great service. I recommend the hanger steak. I enjoyed the pate, too.

Wonderful bistro in Hells Kitchen. Perfect for lunch. I came here by myself on a business trip and really enjoyed the atmosphere, the food, and the service. I had a salade niçoise which was phenomenal! Also they have oat milk which was great for a lactose free after lunch latte. Highly recommend!

We found Steak Frites Bistro on TikTok while looking for a steak and fries spot in NYC, and it didn’t disappoint! The friendly maitre d’ recommended the prix fixe menu, which was fantastic. My boyfriend said the French onion soup was the best he’s had, and the steak frites were perfectly fresh and flavorful. Desserts were also great. It’s a cozy, traditional spot, though tables are close together—no problem unless you get a loud & obnoxious neighbour like we did.

  • Review 78 (2024-04-27 - Rating: 5)

Friendly service and cool ambience. I wasn’t very hungry so opted to get the french onion soup and it was good. My friend got the hanger steak and she liked it. It’s pretty pricey so would recommend for a celebration dinner. Will definitely come back to try the steak :)

  • Review 79 (2024-10-07 - Rating: 4)

We ordered three dry aged steaks (the most expensive in the menu) it was hard, chewy and much below the expectations!

  • Review 80 (2023-12-18 - Rating: 5)

We enjoyed the steak and the hamburgers.m, the french fries are delicious, the green salad out of the garden Well seasoned. Wine was silky. I would prefer filets mignons on the menu. The service was great and the atmosphere was warm. Well be back for sure.

  • Review 81 (2023-10-04 - Rating: 5)

Food was good. We got the lunch deal. Steak was pretty chewy even for a hangar steak and we got it cooked more due to the chewy-ness of it. Fries were great and the desserts were fabulous as well. Would maybe stop here again if I were in the area for the vibes but food didn’t really win me over.

We arrived at around 3pm as lunch service was switching to dinner, their in between menu still has lots to offer. We ordered the burger with fries and a French onion soup to share, but I regret not having it all to myself! My partner ordered a margarita which he greatly enjoyed, and I had a dirty martini which was excellent. The staff were friendly & attentive, I can’t say enough lovely things about this restaurant. I would definitely return next time we’re in New York. I don’t know what they do to their french fries but they are highly addictive and the French onion soup was as good as my mother makes which is a huge compliment. Thanks for having us!!!!

My wife and I had a great experience here tonight. The ambiance, the quality of the food, and our service. They have a couple of great runners/servers here, who really create a great atmosphere together. They paid very close attention to all parts of the restaurant, which is sometimes hard to find. Little things like the filling of the waters or picking up the straps of the bags so nobody stepped on it. Im not sure if I notice it more, as I manage restaurants of my own, but it is super nice to see a team working together as smoothly as this one.Our servers name was Anna and she was really the star of tonight - great energy, perfect character for this place. Felt authentic. She really knew how to finish each course (a little bread to dip..a lil Chantilly cream to go with the last chocolate of our souffle...etc).The food was fantastic as well - well described also!! The butter with the steak was crazy and delicious. Delicious fries!! Amazing chocolate souffle to finish. Just what we needed. Will definitely be back!!! 10/10

My partner and I have recently moved to the city....in the last 6 months we have been to Steak Frites about 5 times. It never disappoints. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, the drinks and bartenders are spot on, and the food is consistently wonderful. Its one of those places that you walk in to and immediately can take a deep breath and feel like you are home. The manager is always there with a smile on his face. Its a struggle not to order the chateaubriand every visit, its that good! One thousand percent recommend!

Definitely coming back to try the regular menu.

Stumbled upon this French bistro today. No crystal chandeliers, luxury silverware or table clothes here but just some damn good classic French foods. Pate de campagne, steak frites and chocolate soufflé. Almost went for the creme brûlée but glad I didn’t, the soufflé was baked to order and served hot with a velvety chocolate ganache. Decadent!!! By the way…..love the black and white hex tile floor

  • Review 93 (2023-07-11 - Rating: 4)

This place offers all your classic bistro dishes. We had a simple omelette, a side of green beans, mussels with frites and ended with a plate of cheese. All were well prepared, tasty & simple in their execution. The mood is relaxed. The setting is comfortable. Service from Lucas was both knowledgeable & polite. The floor manager handled everything with ease. If youre totally happy with classic comfort food you will be satisfied here.

Great food, came for dinner and had the Paté, Chicken and the Hanger steak. Everything was delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly. Only comment is that there is a LOT of butter, but that’s a preference! After everything the price was really good for the quality you get!

Nice to know there’s a steak place that has high quality steak at reasonable prices…got the dry aged NY Strip and wow! Better than the last steak I had at Wolfgang’s or Lugers. I’m certainly patting myself in the back for this choice. We’ll be back soon

This new Bistro is a welcome addition to our neighborhood. The food is well prepared and very tasty. The service is the challenge here! The waitress was personable, when seen. We waited 45 minutes after being seated to have our first drink order taken. We had to request water twice ,and the second drink order was requested as our entree arrived. A half hour wait for the check and another 15 to be picked up. Timing was extremely poor. Hopefully, they will get the service component better organized.

We spent a number of days in New York and came across steak Frites and it became one of our best experiences in New York. The food was top class but it was the service and atmosphere that made it. Our waitress Anna was so attentive but not over bearing. She helped with wine choices and offered great conversation and she is a huge asset to the restaurant. Id have no hesitation in recommending it.Patrick

Steak punches way over its weight. Cote de boeuf excellent and cooked perfectly. Nice shoestring fries, but coated which is not my fave. Good cocktails.

  • Review 111 (2023-05-27 - Rating: 5)

The ribeye was perfectly seasoned with garlic, dill, parsley, and butter. I had read a review beforehand that said the food was too salty, but that was not my experience. The steak was flavorful enough to eat without sauce for someone like me with a lighter palate, but people who prefer more intense flavors would probably benefit from a sauce or applying the grilled garlic that comes with the steak. The fries were also delicious. I had read another review beforehand that complained that the fries were not more similar to McDonald’s. The fries here are cut more thin, so there is more crisp to fluff ratio, but the inside is definitely fluffy. I guess if you want McDonald’s fries, there is always the option to go to McDonald’s. For my part, I enjoyed the fries here.Overall, ambiance was nice and charming. It reminded me of Paris.

A great new French bistro in Hells Kitchen, the whole decor and atmosphere matches with the menu. From earthy nutty bread selection and warm butter. Steak showcased in pan before slicing. Escargo and potatos smooth and tasyy, greens vibrant, fried thin and crispy, burgers juicy, all good portion sizes. Finally classic chocolate souffle gooey and moist with sauce. French onion soup follows classic recipe, duck confit sandwich a bit strange with bones and all.Wonder service, waiter very attentive, refilling and clearing plates.

As a steak lover Im always nervous to order steak at restaurants. Ive been burned too many times by bad steaks. This place though... I literally wouldnt have changed a thing. The hanger steak was everything you would ever want in a steak - well seasoned, good crust, edge to edge medium rare, tender and flavorful. Paired with compound butter and some of the most perfect fries Ive ever had, I was in heaven. We finished with a delightful creme brulee. Not only was the food great, our server was absolutely lovely. I saw someone else in the restaurant drop their knife and she had picked it up within literal seconds. She served us with a side of witty banter and good humor, attention, and lots of love.I honestly cant remember the last time I experienced a restaurant dinner like this.I cant wait to come back, and if youre thinking about going Id highly recommend it.

Steak Frites Bistro offers $30 for a 3-course lunch special. The interior was nicely decorated with a French vintage vibe. However, the restaurant became noisy when the room was filled with customers. It was hard to talk across the table.* Starter - Onion Soup GratinéeDeeply satisfying. It was served in a porcelain pot so it held the heat very well and for a long period of time. The soup was bursting in rich and savory flavor from caramelized onions, beef broth and the melting cheese on top. The baguette acted as a vessel to absorb the delicious broth. Highly recommend bathing the sourdough from the complimentary bread basket into your soup.* Entrée - Petit Steak FritesWe ordered medium rare for our hanger steak, cooked perfectly with a seared outside and a reddish-pink center. I expected a larger cube of butter topped on the steak tho. Unexpectedly filling portion which I could only finish half of the meat. The skinny fries were hot but way too salty, so I had to dip more mayo to neutralize the saltiness.* Dessert - Petit Soufflé au ChocolatThe server poured the chocolate sauce before our camera was ready… It wasn’t too sweet, but as a dark choc lover I prefer it being more bitter. The center of the soufflé was gooey, while the outer parts were crispy. A double-chocolate delight to finish off your meal.* Dessert - Crème BrûléeWhen we scooped up, we were shocked to see how shallow the container was LOL It was still decadent with the “thin” creamy vanilla custard and a crunchy shell of caramelized sugar.* Dessert - Raclette CheeseIt came with cherry marmalade, topped on a toasted baguette. An interesting combo of sweet and savory.

I passed this place when in town visiting. Unfortunately/fortunately we picked restaurant week and it was quite busy. They were able to accommodate our party of 3 at the window counter, not the most comfortable but the food made up for it. The simple hanger steak was well prepared and delicious as was my partner’s gratin gnocchi. This place was a hit and we will be back when it is a little less busy and can be a bit more comfortable.

  • Review 121 (2023-06-19 - Rating: 5)

Listen, give this place all the stars. I can’t believe they didn’t have a line around the block. It was hands down THE best meal we had in NYC. We shared Escargot, Cote e’boufe with frites and salad, and a chocolate soufflé. The steak was seasoned and cooked to med-rare perfection. The vinaigrette was simple and bright. The frites were addicting. The cocktails were unique and refreshing. Staff was super friendly and attentive, decor was fresh while still feeling like this place had been around for 100 years. And then that soufflé, man. just so damn good. Honestly wish we found it sooner in our trip, we would have eaten here multiple times.

Last day in New York City, this great cosmopolitan city, that never sleeps...Im not inclined to eat red meats anymore for many reasons, climate change crisis at the top, but Im not a radical guy, and my wife, who also is reducing her consumption, decided to give us a break.Despite the place being a little bit noisy, mainly because its a cool place run by young people with young adult clients, the chats are audible in a joyful atmosphere.Everything was delicious. From the entry to the main dish. For all travelers, next time visiting NYC, try to walk on 9th Avenue, because this is a restaurant path, with plenty of good choices.

  • Review 132 (2023-01-29 - Rating: 4)

Last night my boyfriend and I walked in to this restaurant. We didn’t have a reservation but the hostess was very kind and found a spot at the bar for us. The vibe and atmosphere of this restaurant was impeccable. Our server / bartender had amazing recommendations. We ordered the Salad Lyonnaise, NY steak, and Mussels. They were all delicious but WAY TOO SALTY. That’s the only reason I am docking one star. Every single dish last night was so freakin salty and that’s coming from someone who likes their food on the saltier side. Maybe ask for your dishes less salted if you order here to spare yourself extreme thirst for the rest of the night.

  • Review 133 (2023-03-25 - Rating: 5)

My boyfriend and I ate here on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and everything was delicious. I liked the decor and ambiance as well, very cozy and relaxing. We shared the 9 oz steak frites and an omelette from the brunch menu. I don’t usually get steaks at restaurants because I feel like you can just make it at home but woow this steak was seriously flavorful and juicy. The fries also had a crispy crackly texture which I really liked. The Lyonnaise potatoes that came with the omelette were rich and had the perfect creamy texture. Good accompaniment for the light omelette. The complimentary bread basket came with white and whole wheat bread, and they were both good. For dessert we shared a chocolate soufflé. Wow what a transcendent dessert. The chocolate sauce reminded me of a Spanish hot chocolate. So chocolate-y but balanced with bitterness and not overly sweet.

  • Review 143 (2023-03-13 - Rating: 5)

This place is PHENOMENAL! I was blown away by everything I had at this place. Everything here is 10/10 and I was completely satisfied with my experience for the first time here. I came in for a casual late Sunday afternoon meal. Immediately walking in to this place you can feel that it has a very cozy and inviting environment. There is lovely French music playing that creates a great ambiance. The staff are all so attentive and quick to assist with everything and anything. They immediately clear your tables from empty plates, refill glasses and replace silverware. You want for nothing with great service like that! We started with the steak tartare and the shrimp cocktail which were both extremely delicious appetizers. The real treat was what our waiter recommended: the cote de boeuf. This was a 28oz medium rare steak, cooked to perfection to be shared for two. We decided to get the red wine sauce to pair with our steak. Before being served the steak, a member of staff brings out the whole steak on a pan for you to observe the presentation and preparation. They then proceed to cutting the steak into slices and serving it with fries and a salad. Everything was perfect! The char, the sauce, the tenderness, the juiciness and the flavor profile were all the best combination to have in a steak. Even the shoe string fries are so crispy, soft and delicious to be paired with the meal. I did not come here expecting to have dessert but after a meal like that, I was curious to try what was on the menu. We ordered the chocolate soufflé and the crème brûlée. We were told the soufflé takes a few minutes to prepare and asked to have both desserts be brought out together. I couldn’t believe how delicious both desserts were! The soufflé was so light and rich that just has the perfect balance of sweetness. The crème brûlée has a creamy vanilla taste that is absolutely addictive. I was surprised that after having two appetizers and a 28oz steak that I was still able to devour the desserts. It may seem like I am exaggerating, but I was truly impressed by everything on this menu. I could not be happier with this place. I promise that you wouldn’t be disappointed if you dined here. I highly recommend you check this place out as it has now become a favorite of mine. I will definitely be back soon!

  • Review 144 (2023-08-07 - Rating: 4)

I came here for NYC restaurant week with a few friends and we were neither impressed nor unimpressed with the food. The escargot had just a tad bit too much garlic - still good through. The steak frites was different from what I expected because it was a gigantic 8 oz cube of meat which made it tricky to cook it to everyones different rarities. I like mine medium rare but only the inner cube of the meat was actually cooked correctly. The further out I cut the more well done it got which made it really chewy and flavorless. The chocolate soufflé was good, a bit chalky and dry at parts but not bad. It was on the cheaper side of the restaurant week prices and the proportions were much more than what we expected but the quality, unfortunately, suffered. All in all, just an ok French Bistro.

One of the most charming — and authentically French — bistros I’ve found in NYC (especially in midtown). We started with the pate followed by the hanger steak. Everything was prepared and cooked to perfection (including the complementary bread and authentic French butter that came with it). The only thing that didn’t feel like a true, quaint, french bistro was the service — because it was polite, attentive, and outstanding!

  • Review 151 (2024-07-07 - Rating: 5)

I found the place through Google Maps and booked a spot at the bar using their booking service, which was seamless. It was within walking distance from the hotel and then a short walk to the theatre. As a solo diner on a busy night, the bar was my only option, and I couldnt have been happier. It was like some type of custom focused bespoke dining experience. While there are others in the restaurant and the place would fill up, it was as if they were there only for my ambiance. The bartender, who was my server, was outstanding, providing impeccable service and making perfect drink recommendations. He truly made the difference in the overall experience, embodying the best characteristics of a high-end server with his expert knowledge and impeccable attention to detail. A fantastic steak frites yet the service and server made it one of the most memorable moments of my trip.

Food was great and service was outstanding. Their steak and frites was delicious, add bernaise sauce to it and you’ll thank me later. Crème brûlée was one of the best I’ve had.

We flew from Kentucky for the weekend and ate here on our second day and it was the most amazing experience. We sat outside and everyone was so friendly. The staff and Derek were really nice and the food was better than we have ever had even in Paris. The Chateaubriand was better than the most famous Parisian restaurants. We will be back for sure. Highly recommended. Ce restaurant est magnifique et mon epouse etait tres contente et c’est ça qui merite les cinq etoiles. Bravo 👏

Okay, I’ve never been to Paris and I truly don’t have any desire to, so Steak Frites was the perfect little stop for dinner without having to be around rude people and secondhand smoke. Loved the decor and ambience. Nice place to catch up with our gaggle of gays— not overly crowded or loud. Cocktails were delicious. Gave us a complimentary “French Kiss” cocktail for no reason. People are just nice for no reason these days. Like ok? The wait staff was top tier. Anna, our server knew the menu like the back of her hand. Made suggestions and made our overall experience amazing. Extremely knowledgeable and might I add, very convincing, on what to order. She could literally make a TED talk on any subject, and I’d probably watch it. In short, great atmosphere, tasty food and excellent service. Will be headed back the next time I’m in Midtown. Also, definitely appreciated the salacious presentation of my chicken breast. Almost had to cover it up with my napkin, to keep it decent!
