Very nice service and atmosphere and astonishingly good wines by the glass. Meatballs were excellent as was the grilled salmon but the chicken parm was kind of lame and the pomodoro sauce had a funny taste to it. Black-eyed peas in garlic with the bread was extremely good. But a special shout out for the wines, much better than those even at high end restaurants.

Love supper. Hidden gem. Owner told us the mozzarella was flown in from Italy this morning. Been here 20+ times. Get beans and bread. Garlic, lemon pasta, priest strangler, veal parm, salads and soups are great. Eat here

Charming Neighborhood Gem with Delicious Italian Fare!Supper is a delightful neighborhood Italian restaurant that hits all the right notes. The warm and inviting atmosphere makes it the perfect spot for a cozy meal. The wine selection is excellent, with something for every palate, and the service is attentive and friendly without being overbearing. The highlight of the menu has to be the lemon pasta—it’s simply divine and a must-try! If you’re looking for authentic Italian food in a relaxed setting, Supper is highly recommended. I’ll definitely be back! Also it’s cash only!

My absolute favorite Italian restaurant in New York. It’s perfectly simple and simply perfect. Great everything. Warm, comforting, simple, and delicious. Atmosphere feels like a hospitable neighborhood hangout. Service is always great. Please don’t ever change.

  • Review 5 (2024-06-23 - Rating: 4)

Lemon spaghetti is great! Tiramisu is good! The complimentary beans and bread are a bit disappointing. (I didn’t even take pictures of them.) The beans are very garlicky and there is way too much of it. And the bread is not even focaccia. Some kind of hard-crusted sour-doughy type of bread. Not the best. Overall, the bean + bread don’t add much to the experience. I just peck on them out of guilt and sense of duty. I’d rather have nothing. They only take cash. (No credit card)

Went on a Friday night for special occasion. Group of 7. Sat in the back room. It’s well decorated. Food is large portions. Consider splitting an entree. Ask to see the wine list before ordering the wine because they will steer you towards the more expensive wines. The food was great. Everyone had a great time. The only bad part was the cash only. Our groups bill was $700 plus tip. That’s too much cash to expect people to carry around. They took a charge card to hold the reservation? At this price point I have to call bullshit on not accepting charge cards.

I went to Supper for a friend’s birthday dinner. They were able to accommodate our table of 8 easily. We started with drinks and appetizers for the table, which all came quickly and were delicious. Most of us ordered their signature pasta - spaghetti al limone, which was excellent and would highly recommend!!! We all had clean plates by the end of the meal. Great vegetarian options.Note this restaurant is cash only, so come prepared. But there is an ATM on site.

  • Review 8 (2024-03-05 - Rating: 4)

This place was wonderful. We had a surprise birthday party and they allowed us to utilize the private dining room. Service was great, drinks were great, food was good. I loved the authentic Italian decor and the wine cellar was to die for!

  • Review 9 (2023-03-08 - Rating: 5)

What a great experience and wonderful meal. I must say that generally Im not in the Italian food is the best camp, although I do love much of it. And while I wasnt so sure about Supper, Im a convert on the highest level. Everything we had blew me away. From the short rib pasta to the wonderful meatballs all was amazing in a cozy and warm atmosphere. Heck I even loved the fennel salad.... So there! I definitely recommend a meal here, as it will not disappoint!

  • Review 10 (2024-04-02 - Rating: 5)

Delicious menu spread and good wine selection. We had lemon pasta, black salt Caesar salad, the Saturday special osso bucco, espresso martinis, and finished with their Sunday

  • Review 11 (2023-05-05 - Rating: 5)

This rustic Italian restaurant brings a sense of coziness with its home style dishes. The burrata is a must try for any cheese lover! It’s served up on top of tomato’s and fresh basil which is the perfect complement to this creamy rich starter. The lemon pasta is outstanding and so enjoyable.

  • Review 12 (2023-07-28 - Rating: 5)

We had the best time at Supper! During Covid Frank was showing the methods to his dishes, same dishes they serve in the restaurant, through his stories on Instagram. So I started following along and going to buy the ingredients because what else did I have to do during that time?! What I was putting out at home with his guidance was incredible so it was definitely a bucket-list thing for me to get to one of his restaurants during a two-day trip to the city recently. Let me just say that the dishes we ate at the restaurant were even better than what I was putting out at home!We needed to have an early dinner since we were going to a show so we got there right at open at 4pm. We were the only ones there for a bit and they really took care of us. The space is cozy. The people that work there felt like a family. They start you with beans in olive oil served with bread. We ordered the roasted beet salad, spaghetti al limone, tagliatelle al ragu bolognese, and the panna cotta. Everything was a 10/10. I cleaned my whole plate and I NEVER do that. Also, they sang me happy birthday when we ordered dessert even though it wasnt my birthday. I was dying laughing and thought my husband was messing with me, but he said he wasnt. I think they were! It was so funny and we had the best time.I look forward to trying another one when we go up again.

  • Review 13 (2022-03-03 - Rating: 5)

I lived in NYC when Supper opened nearly 20 years ago, and it became a favorite back then. The neighborhood was very different, but this restaurant has survived. That does not surprise me, because their food is simple, yet delicious. The prices are higher today, of course, but my go-to dish is still on the (Specials) menu--the Veal Milanese--and it is worth every penny. I remember when it was on the original menu, and it read something like served with a nice little salad, and it still is. The veal is lightly breaded, quickly fried in butter in a pan on the stove (I sat at the bar and watched them make it). It is plated next to the salad, which is indeed simple but a perfect accompaniment, along with half a lemon to squeeze over everything. Its fun to do, and I tend to use every drop. This dish could be a last meal dish for me, I love it that much, even well over a decade since I first had it. Also see the photo of the bread with the white beans in oil. Not enough places start with a thoughtful complimentary starter (or anything complementary at all), but they do. And its tasty. As long as Supper is still around, its worth me trekking there whenever I visit New York. And one other thing to mention, considering so many places have gone to card-only, this place has stuck to the CASH ONLY format (they have their own ATM in the back).

  • Review 14 (2024-09-16 - Rating: 5)

Went again 4 more times. Wonderful each time. Best pasta and mussels in town. 3-2-2022 UPDATE: ONCE AGAIN SIMPLY THE BEST. MUSSELS IN GREAT TOMATO SAUCE, TOASTED BREAD WITH WHOLE GARLICS ROASTED ON TOP, BEST PASTA AND TOMATO SAUCE WE HAVE EVER HAD AND FUN CHOCOLATE SUNDAY (SEE VIDEO ATTACHED). ALWAYS WONDERFUL --- WOW One of the best Italian meals we have had since being in Italy. The pasta is fantastic. Firm and the tomato sauce is very bright and yummy. We highly recommend the Pomodoro E Basitico sauce and be sure to get it with the Stracciatella Mozzarella on top. This is an excellent combination of flavors. We like a thicker pasta so we substituted in the pasta from the Priest Stranglers dish instead of spaghetti noodles. The noodles from the Priest Stranglers are long thick tubes about 4 inches each and they are a great texture with lots of pasta flavor. That was a great choice. All pasta is made fresh daily. We sat in a booth back by the kitchen and could see how it is all made and set up to be served. They have a great attention to detail and it came out perfect. For apps we had the buffalo cheese and tomatoes which was very creamy and good. Also had the bread with cooked garlic on it. Very good. We had an order of clams as well which was awesome. Be sure to use your bread to dip in the clam drippings. One of the best flavors you will find. Desserts are all homemade. We were so full we had to spilt a chocolate hazelnut panna cotta. They served it with drizzled chocolate. Super Yummy. This place has no sign so be sure you know the address. You need to email them to get a reservation and it is CASH ONLY. This is a spectacular place, loud and lots of fun. It has our highest recommendation. UPDATE ON 9-30 SATURDAY BRUNCH WAS AWESOME. BEST PANCAKES WE HAVE EVER HAD, THIN BUT CRUNCH AND SWEET. VERY GOOD MAPLE SYRUP AS WELL. WE HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THE BEST PANCAKES IN NYC AND THIS IS #1 FOR SURE!!!! Check out all of our reviews. If we do not like it we do no review it so all of the ones you see are places that are fantastic. Follow us if you like. We had over 36 million views so far this year and we thank you for that. Supper is a really cute northern Italian restaurant. They’re known for their lemon pasta and chicken parm. The staff are super friendly. It’s a big restaurant that can host large parties and has outdoor seating. Make sure to bring lots of cash because it’s cash only, they have an atm in the back too. It’s kind of on the pricey side for Italian food and drinks but still yummy and a good time.

  • Review 16 (2024-12-31 - Rating: 5)

Sooo nice. Food was so good ! best pasta i’ve had in NYC. Also the service is great! Very homey feel. Cash only though so be sure of that!!

  • Review 17 (2024-09-24 - Rating: 4)

The food was fantastic! Note it was cash only. This limited what we ordered since it was apparent when we made our reservation. It was a bit loud inside. But the lighting and friendliness of the staff was absolutely delightful.Loooved the lemon pasta. The pesto gnocchi was also very good! And the Monday risotto was fabulous!Note some items on the menu were day specific. Overall, very tasty! We will go again!

  • Review 18 (2024-07-11 - Rating: 5)

I have been going to Supper for a fews years now and the excellent service, food, environment has never changed. The consistency is off the chart amazing. The wine is excellent, the food is freshly made - the the taste transports you to Italy and back. Yes its that good! Pretty hard to recommend just 1 meal. I guess thats why I keep going back. Thanks for the tremendous food and service. See you all on my next visit.

  • Review 19 (2024-01-14 - Rating: 4)

Really generous portion of chicken parmigiana (always on the specials menu). Tasty pappardelle lamb ragu. They bring out a whole pot of fudge for the hot fudge Sunday. Outdoor seating was heated but vibes were weird because they were loudly playing 5 same cover band songs on repeat. Don’t forget to bring cash!

  • Review 20 (2022-01-01 - Rating: 5)

The best fresh pasta and burrata we’ve ever had. The food is exceptionally good- but one of my favorite things is everything is perfectly seasoned, we didn’t have to ask for salt or cheese. The wine we ordered was delicious, interesting, and reasonably priced. We ordered the burrata skeptically, at $30. Amazingly, IT WAS WORTH IT. Very good service too. We’ll be back.

  • Review 21 (2022-10-21 - Rating: 4)

A decent Italian place in East Village. My friend claims their pasta limone is the best in NYC (I thought it was just good). But their wine list by glass was very comprehensive and good! The service was nice and the overall vibe is old school meets casual.

  • Review 22 (2022-08-23 - Rating: 4)

Was recommended this place and it did not disappoint. If it werent for the patio seating, I would probably have walked right by it. Bring cash as it is cash only. Great Negroni, solid pasta dishes, we didnt manage to finish the priest stranglers cause it was sooo much food.

  • Review 23 (2024-07-07 - Rating: 5)

I have incredibly high standards when it comes to Italian cuisine but Supper was incredible. The Spaghetti Al Limone was sensational as was the Burrata special. Super solid wine list with a very cool by consumption feature instead of by the glass. Highly recommended!

  • Review 24 (2024-06-15 - Rating: 4)

I stopped by Supper with some friends on a Thursday night for dinner. We sat outside and it was buzzing. I loved it. I got their thursday night pasta special - pesto ribbons. It was pretty good, but my friends who got spaghetti and a kale salad were underwhelmed. The Tiramisu was good at least. The service was great, the waiter was really attentive which I appreciated

  • Review 25 (2024-10-07 - Rating: 5)

LEMON PASTA IS TO DIE FOR!!! You gotta try this if you’re going here. Chicken parm was outstanding. Service was awesome. Thank you to the cooks and servers!

  • Review 26 (2024-06-07 - Rating: 5)

The gnocchi was perfection and easily the best Italian meal Ive had in some time! The staff went above and beyond to make it a special occasion for our group. Wonderful wine selection (we had the super Tuscan). Definitely worth getting off the beaten path and exploring! Cant wait to go back!

  • Review 27 (2024-05-27 - Rating: 5)

This was the best Italian meal I have ever had, including the ones in Italy. Everything was on point. Watching the kitchen work was inspiring and the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The white beans were sensational. All for a price that didnt feel like Manhattan. Cash only.

  • Review 28 (2024-12-06 - Rating: 5)

Anytime I come to NY, Supper is a must stop for me and whoever I am with. The food is amazing, along with the staff and atmosphere. Pasta is fresh. Deserts are incredible.

  • Review 29 (2024-01-12 - Rating: 5)

Authentic cacio e pepe, pear and gorgonzola risotto was unbelievable. Very friendly staff and the atmosphere is greatTotally recommend

  • Review 30 (2021-02-15 - Rating: 5)

Food was really good! Staff always kept our waters filled and the food came out pretty quickly. Side note for covid: If you’re doing their outdoor dining, careful. The seats are so close together to other guests it’s a little nerve wracking.

  • Review 31 (2021-11-21 - Rating: 5)

The FOOD here is exceptional! Its obviously a great restaurant - and has several years of a proven track record on delivering amazing Italian cuisine. I have been here quite a few times, but mostly for private parties. there is a lot of charm in this restaurant! My favorite dishes are start with the burrata MOZZARELLA DI BUFALA (similar to mozzarella, but more dense and flavorful) and then get one of their amazing pasta dishes! The great news is that you can now order online! the menu changes daily, so check the website for details. they also have outdoor dining

  • Review 32 (2024-10-06 - Rating: 5)

Great food. Fun staff and music.

  • Review 33 (2023-11-08 - Rating: 4)

Wonderful! An intimate space, felt well accommodated for the five of us and looked after. The food was excellent, not a complaint to be found.Unfortunately, we did have a person needing handicap access with us who was unable to use the restroom. It is accessed by a short set of steps through a tight service space leading to a very small restroom. After the meal I felt badly coming back from my stop there knowing they would not be able to use it. When they asked about it they decided to not go at all. And it truly would have been impossible for them short of crawling. I felt terribly for them. So, while an excellent restaurant, be mindful if you are considering going out with anyone needing accessible spaces.

  • Review 34 (2021-05-16 - Rating: 5)

We came here right before they closed on a week night and they still sat us. They gave us bread and a bean dip as a complimentary starter which was yummy. We ordered the Lasagna alla Bolognese and spaghetti aglio olio e peperoncino. Both pastas were delicious! The spaghetti was on the spicy side but the flavor was great. The service was really good and we certainly plan on being back to try more of their dishes!

  • Review 35 (2024-02-07 - Rating: 5)

Everything was cooked to perfection. Had an absolutely delightful time dining here, a huge variety of authentic Italian cuisine. Every dish was very well-seasoned and cooked with love. Great taste and great portion, what more can you ask for? Also shout out to the waiter who emptied half a bottle of wine to my glass and asked me to finish it, that guy surely knows how to have fun.

  • Review 36 (2022-04-16 - Rating: 5)

Classic Italian dishes in a beautiful dining room. Great for any kind of group dinner or a date night. Highly Recommend!

  • Review 37 (2023-11-12 - Rating: 5)

Definitely GO TO SUPPER! The staff really was top notch as they made sure we had the best experience possible. We were looking for late night dinner options in Manhattan and this one did not disappoint! The food was soooo delicious and the service was so kind and accommodating. They made sure we stayed warm. They moved us to a better table. And even though we were seated next to a large, loud engagement party, they made sure we were comfortable and even gave us breaks on drinks and dessert. They were also kind enough to let us pay with a credit card (this restaurant normally is cash only), so I really cant say enough nice things. We stayed until after 1 a.m., and they didnt even rush us out. At the end of the night, we were so happy with everything we took photos with the staff! Kudos to Supper for such a great restaurant experience! We will definitely be back!

  • Review 38 (2023-07-19 - Rating: 5)

One of the best chicken parmigiana dishes in the city and I have tried 50+… Frank (owner and og chef) is also a great follow on the gram to learn methods and refine your cooking skills.

  • Review 41 (2021-07-11 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 45 (2023-01-07 - Rating: 4)

Classic Italian place. The chicken parm was amazing and huge (I’d say for 2), octopus so so.

  • Review 46 (2023-10-01 - Rating: 5)

The beet burrata risotto is the best dish I’ve ever had on this planet. Everything is made with such love - you would want to cry when you eat it (I actually did). The service was excellent as well. Best restaurant in New York City hands down!

  • Review 47 (2023-02-16 - Rating: 5)

Came here for my birthday earlier this month and basically ate my weight in pasta. Ambiance and service was great. Loved the beans and bread automatically provided at the start of our meal. Quality ingredients and flavors! Our only issue was that it was a brutally cold day and we reserved an early dinner time so the place hadn’t yet warmed up. Our table was a little too close to the front door, so we were freezing the whole time and ended up rushing through our meal so we could get back to our warm apartment ASAP.Other than that, a fantastic meal! Would definitely go back (in warmer weather).

  • Review 48 (2024-02-11 - Rating: 5)

A great and fun place! We came in a large party and tried a bunch of pastas. Pasta and apps were delicious!! Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Wine was fabulous as well. All the good felt fresh. Be warned this place is cash only but they have an ATM in the back.

  • Review 49 (2024-11-29 - Rating: 5)

A lot of people say “Best Restaurant” or “Best Food” in New York, but the only way I can describe my experience… I was nearly brought to tears from how tasty my dinner was. This is the number one Thanksgiving meal I’ve had in the years I’ve lived here.

  • Review 50 (2024-12-15 - Rating: 5)

Incredible!! One of the best Italian meals I’ve had outside of Italy. Will definitely be going back when I in the city again. Loved everything about it!!

  • Review 51 (2024-10-12 - Rating: 4)

Standard Italian fanfare, good not great, but big portions

  • Review 52 (2023-05-01 - Rating: 5)

What a lovely experience. One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in NYC. We had a lovely waiter who truly seemed like he loved his job. The food was impeccable and beautifully presented. This will be a new staple in every trip I take to the city.

  • Review 53 (2024-12-15 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 54 (2023-04-30 - Rating: 5)

I was brought here by my family and friends to celebrate my birthday and I couldn’t have selected a better place myself.Everything was incredible from beginning to end! The atmosphere was so warm, friendly and inviting which was exactly what we needed on a rainy New York night. The food was incredibly delicious that we almost didn’t have room for the birthday cake (emphasis on almost lol)!!!!But the highlight of the night was the amazing staff at supper, especially our server, Wajih! He was extremely accommodating and helpful throughout the entire night. He made the birthday celebration even more special with his kind smile and attention to every detail!Thank you for making our night. We will definitely be back to this gem of a place. Omar (birthday boy) 😊

  • Review 56 (2023-03-27 - Rating: 5)

I believe this came recommended, cant fully remember and ultimately it doesnt matter - this place is great. Food is fantastic, the Lemon pasta is stunning and one of the best Italian pasta dishes Ive had (including eating at Carbone and Lilia). Service was fantastic, friendly and helpful on recommendations. Coffee was amazing too! Also whilst its cash only, they have an ATM on the premises

  • Review 57 (2022-11-12 - Rating: 5)

Best Italian food I’ve ever had! Everything was delicious start to finish! We ordered the burrata mozzarella appetizer, roasted chicken, grilled salmon and chicken parmesan entrees and all of it was perfect! Cute intimate venue that feels like home but it’s super classy and high end at the same time. Such a perfect vibe! Pricey but worth every penny. Highly recommend you stop by if you’re in the area!

  • Review 58 (2023-06-27 - Rating: 5)

Unfortunately, no pictures - everything was just too good. Staff was very nice especially the hostess - super accommodating! Pappardelle Lamb ragu was pure perfection. Salmon was not your typical salmon dish it was halved and almost looked like a filet - also amazing. Veal parmigiana - you can skip not memorable. Dishes are pricey, but the food was really good. We also started with burrata - it’s $30 but was large and we split it between several ppl. They start you off with their bread and beans and that is also top! Would highly recommend and would surely come back.P.S. It is cash-only but I saw that on the menu prior to going so we were prepared.

  • Review 59 (2021-05-29 - Rating: 5)

What an amazing brunch. We sat outdoors and enjoyed dinner amazing music and a wonderful mix of foods. We went for brunch but ended up ordering a number of great dinner type dishes too. The zucchini tagliatelle with lemon was delicious and simple and light. What an impressive dish! We also had some incredibly gnocchi, risotto, and some french toast.Cant recommend Supper enough for a tasty relaxed meal with a great energy and relaxed feel.

  • Review 60 (2022-08-17 - Rating: 5)

We hosted my daughters bridal shower brunch here and it was fantastic! Carol and Francesca made the planning of the event, including decorations and menu design, a pleasure. They also made sure that the food allergy of one of our guests was taken into account. On the day of, our guests were thrilled at how delicious the food and drinks were and how kind the servers were as the staff easily accommodated my guests requests. We went a bit over the scheduled time as the grooms surprise appearance was delayed by traffic. This was a non-issue as the staff allowed our guests to stay an extra hour. We would happily host other events at Supper and cannot wait to return to try their dinner menu.

  • Review 61 (2021-06-21 - Rating: 4)

Wonderful experience in superb dining in a classic Italian atmosphere with excellent service and most importantly tast delicious food. I had my birthday dinner here last weekend and it was great. The entrees were unfortunately about 2 hrs late but we didnt even notice because the servers brought us an additional round of drinks, a round of shots, a round of appetizers, and dessert all on the house. It was so kind of them to do that!! They went above and beyond with customer service. There was no time limit on our table so we were there all night long and had the best time. THANK YOU for your hospitality and kindness!!! :)

Went here for a bachelorette dinner upon arriving in NYC from Toronto and it did not disappoint. The food was overall fantastic, with a great wine selection. The prices were a bit high, and the atmosphere of the patio was not as stellar as the food (it was also really hot) but we were still treated like queens! Id definitely come back. :)

  • Review 64 (2022-10-19 - Rating: 4)

The spaghetti al limone was fantastic. The free bread and beans they give you before your meal is great too. Service could have been better. It took ages for our food to come out and the waiter could have been friendlier.

  • Review 65 (2019-12-26 - Rating: 4)

Since our last visit, the prices have increased significantly, and seem a bit high for the serving size. The appetizer bread and bean/olive oil spread is wonderful. No matter which supper I choose, I have never been disappointed, ever. The food is fresh and served hot. Each time I have dined here a friend and I dont need to make one choice, we each order a meal then share both.Service is friendly and attentive. The private room is outstanding for large groups.

  • Review 66 (2024-11-17 - Rating: 5)

The veal is amazing. Delicious Italian with so many options. Francesca at the front is a girls girl and deserves the world. If you don’t eat at supper, you’re wrong! Bonus Points for the hazelnut panna cotta that i will be dreaming about forever!

Nice place with good fresh Italian dishes. Had the gnocchi with pesto, it was def fresh and had a good flavour. A little bit intense after a while but altogether good! Its Cash only. Staff was nice. Kinda cool that you can sit by the kitchen and watch as they cook

This place went above and beyond every expectation. The staff are incredibly friendly. Food and ambiance is exceptional by being minimal and delicious, just what you would expect from grandmas house.Update January 2024: remains just as good.

Very great find. More towards the expensive side for some, but worth it. $24 bucks for a one of the bowls of pasta for reference. Great appetizers and kind staff. Will be going again

A GREAT dining experience! This restaurant is a must try! We had a large group and we sampled almost every appetizer. All were delicious!! We also split several entrees. The pasta is fresh and homemade. All of the wait staff were friendly and attentive. I will definitely go back!

  • Review 74 (2022-09-06 - Rating: 4)

Our meal was pretty good. The complementary bread with white beans in olive oil was really good. My veal Milanese was kind of plain, and the salad that it came with was very sharp and bitter. Chicken Parmesan was relatively good. Both meat cutlets were extremely thin. Even though I was not blown away, the meal was still pretty good, and I would eat here again to explore their pasta options.

  • Review 75 (2023-02-12 - Rating: 5)

Rich, hearty Italian food — my favorite! Everything we got was delicious, including the complimentary bread and beans. We came on a Sunday so got to try the beet & burrata risotto which had a great flavor. I would order all the same dishes if I went again (cacio e pepe, risotto, gnocchi). The seating was a little cozy, as a heads up.

Supper is our must-go restaurant each time were in NYC. Service and food are both excellent and consistent. We strongly recommend checking this place out. Take advantage of the daily specials and order several dishes for the table to share. Just note the restaurant is cash only, but you can order a gift card using a credit card on their website online. Theres also an ATM on site.

Food was great for the most part with some real winning dishes! The ambiance is awesome and despite how loud it is inside it still feels cozy and intimate. We had a large group and the service could have been better. It started off rocky but improved over dinner. Overall a pretty good dining experience!

Oh. My. Goodness. BEST Italian Ive had in the city, period. I come from an Italian family, so my standards have been high when dining in this cuisine, and this blew them out of the water. The pasta was al dente to a level of perfection, the open flame dining experience was just beautiful. The lasagna, which my dining companion ordered, was INCREDIBLE. It came out so hot and fresh. The staff were so warm, kind and attentive. Ill be returning ASAP!

Supper? I love supper. I would have supper for dinner and breakfast if I could. Thats how much I love supper. But what is supper? Is it real? Is it just a word? I think its neither of those things. To me, supper is a dance. Its a dance between your tongue and the flavors that the chef took out of their pocket and sprinkled into your mouth. A good supper is like a dream while a bad supper is like a bad dream. A nightmare one might say.So what is the verdict on the supper at Supper? Its a dream, a very good dream. The kind of dream where you realize youre dreaming and you start to fly like a bird high on amphetamine. What is the purpose of life you ask? To eat and to live.Without eating, we could not be alive. But without being alive, we could not eat. Socrates himself spoke of the greatness of food. He believed that without food our souls would slowly perish until nothing but a husk of our former essence remained.Im happy to say I am not corn and therefore am not a husk. Supper ensured that my soul was kept full and fattened like a modern Nike super model. It was without a doubt one of the best meals Ive ever had and Ive eaten nearly a dozen meals in my lifetime. What else can be said about Supper? Im not quite sure. All I know is that if the owner was about to be struck by a helicopter I would jump in front of them to preserve their life. Thats how good a venue like this is. Thats what it means to me.My only complain? They would not bring me a bowl of gravy like I had requested. Still, its an easy enough thing to forgive when everything else was perfect.

Food is amazing, pasta limone and tiramisu is a must. But what really made this meal outstanding was our waiter Davide. He went above and beyond for our out of town friend. This is the definition of hospitality.

Frank became so important to our family during covid as he started releasing cooking techniques and videos. As my dad started to decline due to stomach cancer food because medicine and we looked for inspiration everywhere. Frank became a muse and inspired so many family meals before he passed. Now that we can finally travel coming to supper was a bit of a pilgrimage. We feasted on the daily risotto blooming with fragrant saffron, short rib ravioli stuffed with succulent meat and pesto gnocchi which brighten the palate with bright fresh flavors. I asked for a wine recommendation which suited our meal beautifully and was I wine I never would have picked for myself (Chianti by consumption, as recommended). They were extremely responsive for for are drop silverware and glasses of empty water. I absolutely love supper and we go back at any time. 😍😍😍

Absolutely the best Italian food I have ever had! This place is the best. Staff are amazing and friendly. The restaurant has multiple funky rooms with a great vibe. The Spaghetti al Limone is incredible. The Cacio el Pepe (pictured) is perfection. Kale salad (pictured) has a kick with Serrano peppers. Tiramisu definitely recommended. Chocolate cake? Hell yeah (pictured). My new favorite restaurant in NYC. Pro tip: bring cash as this is a cash only establishment!

Honestly some of the best Italian food I’ve had outside of Italy. Service is 3/5, no major complaints just not amazing.Just…cash only?! I mean it’s 2021, this is ridiculous. Nonetheless, I’d make the trip to the ATM and come here again…I imagine most of the other guests feel the same way which is why they haven’t moved to accept credit cards.

  • Review 88 (2021-07-29 - Rating: 5)

This is now one of my favourite Italian places in the city. The servers were so kind and welcoming. The atmosphere was so great and the food was even better. Honestly, my only complaint was that they served us too much really good food and we went home in food comas, feeling like we were about to explode! They started us with complimentary bread and beans in a spicy oil which we mistakenly filled up on. We shared the mozzarella di buffala to start and it looked really simple but the flavours were amazing. I got the cacio e Pepe and my boyfriend got the pappardelle with wild mushrooms off the specials list. They were both so good. We also got wine and a chocolate cake. I will definitely be coming back here again.

Frank Prisinzano is a legend. Do yourself a favor...follow him on Instagram. Do yourself another favor...come to Supper. I love everything about this place. Nothing better than the rustic old school atmosphere at Frank’s restaurants. The roasted garlic and Asparagus Parm were mind blowing apps. If you find yourself here on a Saturday, get the Osso Buco and don’t look back. Trust me. If you’re in the mood for pasta, “The Timely Priest Stranglers” is absolutely perfect. The Hazelnut Panna Cotta was heavenly—please don’t skip it. This place just really does it for me. Will eat here in 25° weather outdoors. Frank, thank you.

  • Review 97 (2019-09-20 - Rating: 5)

I had never been in a restaurant with a huge mirror with the top tipped outward so you can see everything behind you! Fun! The service was great, and the food OMG. I am not a huge fan of Italian, because I think I know what it tastes like. No I did not. The veggie side dish of tomatoes and eggplant, was so bright I felt like I could hear it. The lemon pasta, when I returned home I attempted to make it, and although it wasnt as good, I think I have the idea. Also the the tiramisu, the creme/mascarpone ratio was different, with I believe more whipped creme than usual, and it was wonderful. How could it not be? There were 2 loud parties of people having a really good time, which made it seem even more fun, that plus our server who cheerfully put up with my machinations trying to pay the bill without our host noticing. That when I found out they dont take credit cards, but money always works.

  • Review 98 (2018-03-11 - Rating: 5)

Small and quaint. The kitchen runs like a machine pumping out fresh pasta dishes like Ive never seen before. I would highly recommend the lemone pasta and the smoked salmon roll with sea salt is fantastic. Very unassuming from the outside but tastes like youre eating at your Italian grandmothers house.

  • Review 99 (2016-06-27 - Rating: 4)

Amazingly fresh Italian food! Highly recommend -- but definitely come ON TIME (no more than 5 min late!) if you are hoping to honor a reservation. Our entire party did not show up right on time, so we had to wait over an hour to get seated... I understand that timeliness helps turn tables over more quickly.. but if one person out of a party of 6 is running 10 min late.. I was hoping wed get some slack.Nonetheless, I really loved the food and cannot wait to come back (with more punctual company)

  • Review 100 (2019-02-15 - Rating: 4)

The atmosphere was great, great lighting and easy going music. The food was excellent and always came out at the right time, so nothing was ever cold and the table was never a mess. The portions were perfect my girlfriend and I ordered the burata, the priest stranglers with sausage, veal milanesa and the tiramisu and left the right kind of full. Not the bad kind where you need the bathroom and a nap. The only downside is its cash only but we made a reservation and were aware of this and obviously hit the atm beforehand.

As for real Italian food, I think this one is actually authentic!!! Loved the menu and the range of food they offered. The service was good too. Please remember that the restaurant accepts ONLY CASH! I didnt know about this until I got there but the food made it up for it! Definitely will be going there again! I really liked the environment too which brings in old authentic lazy Italian summer days even in the middle of winter! Lastly, I loved their song selections!

Very delicious Italian food. High quality and always consistently delicious. One of our favorite dinner places in the East Village. Also very tasty for brunch -- and they have a nice 3-for-1 brunch drink special!

  • Review 110 (2012-09-11 - Rating: 4)

Amazing pastas and crostinis. You can tell the vegetables and cheeses used are fresh and high quality. A little cramped and dark inside but its a bit cozy. Our waiter did an admirable job translating the menu for us and explaining all the different types of noodles, and he paid attention all night long. I dont think my water glass ever went empty but i barely ever noticed him refilling it.The weakest part was probably dessert, which was good, but not outstanding like the rest of the meal.Theres a number of great restaurant options in the area but if you want a reasonably priced, top notch date restaurant, this is it.

One of my absolute favorite neighborhood Italian restaurants. Delicious Italian comfort food, its cash only so come prepared. Most of the pastas are homemade. Very rustic atmosphere. Has a big enough space for birthday parties and at the same time feels very intimate. They also serve a great brunch with pasta and egg dishes. Delizioso! Al Dente!

I’m a big fan of Supper, as well as all it’s sister restaurants. It’s just so good and always an awesome time. You can tell that Frank, the superstar chef that owns and runs these restaurants, has a deep passion for the food he serves. For example, Frank goes out of his way to source grass fed and raw milk burrata from a farm directly out of Puglia, Italy. He’s also a top notch dude. I’ve spoken to him once and you could tell how excited he gets just speaking about food.

  • Review 115 (2015-12-15 - Rating: 4)

Really great food but fairly expensive. The seafood risotto (Friday special) was $30ish. In the end, a party of 4 we paid around $225. Service was shaky at first when we tried to order liver pate for an appetizer, waiter told us everything had to be ordered at the same time. To our surprise the same waiter gave us a plate of live pate a few minutes later.... ON THE HOUSE. The service continued to pick up and our water cup was never empty :)

  • Review 116 (2019-08-05 - Rating: 5)

I love this group of restaurants (frank, lil Frankies, supper). The burrata is the best burrata Ive ever had. The pasta dishes are amazing. The tables are a little small, but it builds the cozy atmosphere. I usually try to make a reservation but you can usually do a walk-in as well.

  • Review 119 (2011-11-28 - Rating: 4)

You know me, Im the value guy. I talk about it a lot, as its often on my mind. This was the case before the economy went in the toilet, but now its heard from a lot of people besides myself. So Ill get down to the crux: How much value do you get from risotto?Risotto is basically a glorified rice dish. Its creamy and delicious and not easy to make. And a good risotto can make the person eating it very happy. But its hard to feel like youre getting good value from your meal if youre spending in the neighborhood of twenty bucks for a rice dish.My suggestion, try to disassociate rice from risotto. Risotto takes a long time to cook and is special. Rice is rice. And when you come to Supper, get some risotto. They have a bunch of different varieties, including a risotto of the day. Ive not tried them all, though I would enjoy doing so.Related: It seems like they take pride in their tomatoes. This is important and not to be forgotten.

  • Review 127 (2013-02-21 - Rating: 5)

So Ive been here many more times and its been consistently good. Lemon pasta is simple and good. For appetizers burrata was delicious as well as the crispy polenta. Ive also had the veal and that was decent as well. As for the pastas, my least favorite was the mushroom parpadelle, but none of the other pasta dishes disappoint, especially the tagliatelle in ragu. The most memorable part of this meal was the amazing coffee dessert! Im not a big sweets or dessert person, but I still dream about it!Also, the last time I came here we sat in the back room and it was really dark. Like we could barely see our menus. We used our phones to look at the menu and one friend was actually using his phone to look at the online menu cause it was so dark. I felt like we were in the haunted mansion in Disneyland or something.

Went for dinner here at 7 pm on a Friday and we loved it! Service was excellent and food was very good. Only reason to dock a star was that it was EXTREMELY loud - we had to yell to hear each other and we were just at a small two top. Wouldnt bring someone sensitive to loud noises.

Burrata MozzarellaOff the specials menu, an uncut ball of fresh mozzarella served on top of sliced tomatoes. The cheese is firm on the outside, rich, and creamy on the inside. As fresh as it gets.Veal Scallopine alla Parmigiana with SpaghettiThe tagliatelle will always be there, next time get a little more adventurous. I mean, when was the last time you ate veal scallopine anyway? Probably never. You won’t be disappointed.Tagliatelle al Ragu bologneseEh. I’d take Max’s bolognese over this one any day of the week. The pasta is good but there are a couple strong spices in the sauce that dominate the flavors and not in a good way.Spinach Gnocchi All Aglio D’OratoGotta love big fat pieces of fresh green gnocchi in tomato sauce. This gnocchi is all that and more. We could have easily taken down a whole other serving.

Good Italian restaurant with good flavor.Had a lot of Italian food around town and this place to me is personally better some popular a little more upscale places like Olio di Piu.Food - for the bolognese and lemon pasta. Both had good flavor and devoured. Their serving bread with beans is unique and pretty good as well.Service - our server was so nice which made the dining experience that much betterPrice - a little pricy for what you get. Average portion and the lemon pasta is just a lemon pasta but it’s almost $30. Expect to pay around $30 per person just for a dish.Vibe - good vibe in the back. There’s outdoor seating, bar seating, front seating, patio seating, and back room seating. We sat in the back which had the best vibe.Cleanliness - average. It didn’t feel too clean as it was dark and people have to pass the serving section/kitchen hub when passing in and out the front - back. Water was already served on the table which I didn’t like. I like being served water after being seated. Took half a star off for this. But rounded it up to 5 because the server was so great.

Mothers and WivesLast night I had dinner at Supper. It was delicious and nice, and all the things an end-of-summer East-Village-Italian cash-only 6:30-dinner should be -Al fresco and paid for by my mother. It began with two salads starring summer tomatoes, “tomato salad” and “avocado salad.” The less you do to a tomato at this time of year the better, and Supper displayed the restraint one might hope for. Salad 1: A drizzle of oil and drop of balsamic, salt, pepper, fresh basil, all made for that delightful moment when you mind’s fantasy matches reality. The avocado salad, an exercise in deconstruction, exceeded. The well ripened slices of avocado, deep red perspiring tomato slices, a golden pile of fleetingly seasoned sweet corn, and some crunchy shavings of pale romaine, were presented as elements to be ratioed and consumed. A fennel salad accompanied but failed to achieve the almost-transcendence of its salad course mates, at least for me. My wife, with whom I shared a chicken parm and spaghetti- quite good-, and my mother, spaghetti limone (did not taste but is her Supper go to for whatever that’s worth), raved about it, exclaiming “I just love fennel, don’t you?” to which I answered silently. No.All was well in the land of Supper, until I asked for a re-up on the bread so that I could sop up my chicken parm plate trails. I was throw into a quiet despair when- instead of the crusty fluffy Filone which inhabited the first bread basket- I found myself staring at some rather unattractive poorly sliced pieces of baguette, whose relative staleness would not relent even after coming into contact with the oily reddish streams of flavor left over from the chicken parm. After a brief moment of panic- where I thought my tote, “has been lost forever!”- that was mercifully relieved when I discovered it hiding beneath my mother’s sweater on the back of her chair, the meal took a turn for the better when we ordered 2 espressos, “none for me Daniel, I’ll be up all night” and a slice of tiramisu. The tiramisu, a presence across Frank Prisinzano’s East Village empire, is a brush with consistent perfection. Each bite of this ethereal cloud of sugar cream, espresso, cake, and cocoa powder is of the great pleasure, no matter how full one might be. It is a bite I would not forgo even if a real or perceived, lactose intolerance would inevitably force me to pay the porcelain price. Upsetting, but not devastating, was the delayed arrival of our espressos until after the Tiramisu had been ravaged, my wife lacking the self-control to wait until the coffee had arrived, triggered another panic where I was convinced that if I hesitated to consume even for a moment, I would be left with a crumb of cream and cocoa dust to which she would direct my attention and proclaim that in a true act of altruism she had saved the last bite for me. Panics and the mediocre service aside, the meal was more than fine, with nice flavors and company and atmosphere, Supper is a consistently good meal for anyone who carries cash and enjoys the interpretation of American Italian cuisine through fresh ingredients, and a minimalist touch.

I came here late for brunch (3pm), and I was surprised at how yummy and inexpensive it was. The servers were very attentive and the food was delicious. Cant beat 3 for 1 mimosas!

Supper is the higher-end sister restaurant of Frank Prisinzanos Italian food empire. Cash-only, but so worth it. If you can, snag the seat at the bar to watch your food be prepared (great for dates).Frank is an increasingly popular brunch option, offering 3-for-1 drinks and spectacular food! If you havent been, it should be high on your list.I recommend the polenta with fennel and the strozzapreti!

Food was great and not too pricey. Cash only but they do have an ATM inside (though it is a really strange looking one haha). The tiramisu is worth saving room for dessert.

I got a referral from a friend who lived in NYC and Torino, Italy before that.Supper was exceptional... Especially if you can manage to get a table outside! I got the best Chicken parm Ive ever had and my wife got the Tagliatelle al Ragu and it was to die for! The mussel appetizer is also insane and are huge!Supper is a must for any trip to NYC!

What an amazing experience. Starting with the staff. Everyone is lovely, warm, hospitable. Service is 10/10 - unmatched. Turns out they are more than just coworkers, most of the staff has been here >10 years and are truly a family. Onto the food. Delicious. So good. The pasta tasted so fresh and was seasoned perfectly. Great wine menu and lovely ambiance. Overall wonderful night. Would highly recommend!!

Great meal. Liked the open kitchen plan so you could watch the meal being cooked. Little pricey.
