    Visited on a trip to NY recently and had an awesome time. The wine list is one of the most eclectic and fun I’ve ever seen at a wine bar. The vibe was lively and welcoming. Will be my new “must stop at” place in NY.

    Went on a lazy Sunday. Had a nice vibe and wasnt too crowded. Shamarie helped us choose some wines and that is definitely the way to go. His suggestions were excellent and we got to try wines that we never would have gone for otherwise. The food was good, though portions are small so its better to share multiple dishes.

    This is such a cute wine bar. It’s one of my favorite places to come and hangout if we have extra time in the West Village. They have such an amazing selection of wines from all over the world. Temperance was one of the few places that carried multiple types of Orange wine before it became popular. They are also able to do wine flights.I also love their snacks. They compliment the wine so well and they have a lot of variety for vegetarians.The ambiance here is also casual elegance which is perfect.     Had a really wonderful time! We came without a reservation for a drink, before dinner elsewhere, so was pleased when they let us stand at the bar. The bartender was friendly and gave good recommendations for drinks, while also letting us try a taste before getting a full poor. Over 100+ bottles, of all shapes and sizes, and definitely things you haven’t seen before.

    I’ve been looking for a great wine bar to catch up with friends and glad to have found this place. We loved their orange wine selection; thanks to the friendly waitress! Decor was super cute too.

    Temperance looks like what people in the 70’s thought the future would look like. The space is very retro-futuristic, and creates a very interesting ambiance. I’m not sure if agree with the space or the vibe but I will say; the atmosphere is a great ice breaker, and before you know it it’s been three hours and you forget what day it is.I get dizzy after two bottles of scotch.The biggest advantage that temperance has is its walk in availability, you can actually get a table inside, rare for a west village wine bar.

    Great wine bar with many options. flight deal is great because its reasonably priced with a good-sized pour. wait staff is attentive and knowledge.really liked the decor though. an interesting mix of space age and modern. the upstairs powder room is also way too nice and cool for a bathroom??? honestly iconic.

    A cute wine bar with a great selection of wine. The staff is knowledge and will help you out with the menu.Their wine flights are great for trying out wines and theyre happy to adjust based on your liking. Overall great vibes. Its a bit less crowded than other wine bars, also a bit less of an intimate ambience.

    Rented out the tasting alcove to host my engagement party, and we had just a terrific time. Ann was super helpful in talking thru and serving the wines, and the ambiance was great. Everything was reasonably priced too, and we were just able to have a splendid time. Hosting events in NYC is hard, but Temperance made it super easy!!

    Temperance is OUTSTANDING. We had a dinner here and AJ treated everyone like they were family. The pairings were inspiring and AJs wine selection was truly remarkable. Temperance should be at the top of everyone’s list of wine bars in NYC. I wish AJ and Temperance all the success in the world….but I hope I will still be able to get a reservation once everyone realizes what a treasure it is :)

    Temperance is one of my absolute favorite wine bars in the city, and Ive been multiple times for drinks, dinner, and their private event wine tastings. The food, service, and ambiance are always so nice. I recently hosted a dinner party in their private dining area and it was a great experience. They include unlimited wine along with selections of food family style, and the team was so friendly, explaining the different wine types and always making sure our glasses were topped up. Highly recommend!

    I had a my birthday at Temperance Wine Bar this past weekend and the ambiance, wine/food and staff were fantastic . KIRI was our server and she was SO kind and patient with our group (~15people) and made the experience that much better. The party menu was also great - the spicy squash and the ricotta focaccia were our favorites -thank you chef! Esteban, the bartender, was also extremely helpful and offered guidance on drinks to order. It can be hard to organize a gathering in NYC and temperance made it extremely simple and accommodated us so well. I even spoke with the owner a few days prior and he reassured me that everything was taken care of and answered all my questions! Their whole staff is truly exceptional!Overall , I would highly recommend booking your next party here and utilize the front room if possible!Can’t wait to return!

    We were able to walk in and get back patio seats on a beautiful Friday evening. The wine list is funky, unique, and fully available for pours by the glass, and offers a great way to try some new and unusual things. There were also four wine/shochu cocktails, of which two were unavailable due to lack of certain ingredients. The staff was friendly and informative, and helped deftly select wines for us to try based on our preferences. This is a great communal spot as both inside and out are spacious and set up well for groups.

    Temperance is a great find. We planned a visit to a nearby vegan pizza place and strolled a few minutes to check out its wine selection.Nestled amongst a throng of casual dining outlets, it delights as soon as you enter. Theres a lot more space than you expect in NYC, with a comfortable mix a booths, tables, and bar seating.The wine list is amazing. Our wine server new her stuff, listened to our preferences and delivered a selection of 4 amazing glasses. Every wine was spectacular, often breaking the stereotype for wines from their region to overdeliver on complexity and elegance (my preferred styles).Service was great.We were very happy.Id recommend following the Temperance suggestions at the beginning of the wine list. Try them! You wont be disappointed.

    I was taking a walk and decided to stop by Temperance on a whim, and am so happy I did. While it was initially the (very inviting and well done) decor that drew me in, everything else about the experience has guaranteed that I will be returning. All of the staff I interacted with were super friendly and welcoming. Brian, the bartender, was a delight - super patient helping me figure out what to order, never let my water glass go empty, and clearly very knowledgeable, providing excellent recommendations. The wine selection is incredible and, as some others have noted, the bathroom is a disco ball of a gem. I didn’t have any food but the menu looked delicious and I can’t wait to come back and try some bites and more wine.

    Came for an event a couple weeks ago which took place in their small private room which opens up into the sidewalk/street. Lovely quaint little restaurant with a fantastic wine selection. The man who tended our event was on top of it. Caught into conversations of what each person wanted to try, came at the right time to refill glasses - amazing! The bites available were really delicious as well from meatballs to deviled eggs to shrimp to charcuterie. Would definitely come back for a regular meal!

    I love this place and come here often but my latest visit was the best one yet. Esteban made my friend and I feel like we were getting a private experience. He talked to us about what we liked and guided us through new wines we’ve never tried before. Never rushed us. Next time i’m making sure I sit at the bar again so I can order my wine through him!

    Amazing, beautiful and cozy place in the west village. The food was incredibly tasteful, the wine selection is lovely, you definitely dont need a cocktail when you have to choose over 100 wines from everywhere 🥰. The albariño “Lagar de Costa” got me. The best part of being there with friends was that I got to try almost the whole menu.

    It was our first time here. We took one of the wine classes and it was so wonderful! Ann is an amazing teacher—so fun and informative. We learned more in our hour and a half here than on any of the wine tours we’ve done. We can’t wait to take more classes!

    Super cool. I’ve been here four times. Great atmosphere, friendly low-key service, unsnobby helpful staff and an amazing wine list. This is now my favorite NYC wine bar. It would take a long time to drink through the enormous by the glass list here. Every time I’ve been here I left with a new favorite wine.

    Esteban leads you through a tour of unique wines that are only matched by the food in this singular Greenwich Village wine bar. And wine bar sells this gourmandary well short. Try the salads and pasta... You will not be disappointed. This is a place that will keep us coming back to Manhattan.

    Where to begin? There are 100 wines by the glass which I think is very overwhelming to most people. But the staff is so Knowledgeable that they can help you narrow it down and help you choose. Service was outstanding. The food menu is limited but everything we had was delicious. Especially the duck meatballs and the deviled eggs. Lets talk about the music. 80s for days. Loved! And the bathroom is a time machine back to Studio 54. Disco ball and all. I highly recommend going to Temperance. You wont be disappointed

    Stumbled into this place and so glad I did. Seems like a hidden gem almost. The overall aesthetic was unique and intentional. Everyone was welcoming and attentive. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in a wine mood.Oh! And you can’t go wrong with some seasoned popcorn to snack on, ever!

    Loved this place! Very few places get 5 stars from me (:)). I was in the area and walked into this place for a glass of wine. Little did I know I would end up staying for a couple of hours to eat as well. Their food selection is limited but I loved everything I ordered. The salad is great, wines are unique and the ambience is perfect for a date night or a fun “me time”. The staff is friendly and warm. No complaints!

    I’ve been eager to try Temperance since the opening and was so pleased by the experience. The ambiance feels not only retro and funky, but also welcoming and open. As expected, the curated by the glass wine list is robust (100+). I’d recommend the blind tasting for a fun activity with friends or a date - the staff are friendly and informative!

    Quiet yet buzzy bar with over 100 wine options. Great for conversational ambiance, flavorful dishes, and an incredibly attentive and pleasant staff (shoutout to our knowledgeable server who gave us personalized recommendations - in Kelsey we trust).We had such a great time that we ordered ~10 dishes and 11 glasses of wine among 5 people, staying 3.5 hours on a Thursday (never rushed)! With a prime vibe and people in west village; its now our go-to spot. :)

    Went a few weeks ago. My brother happens to be the Chef. As much as I want to give him a bad review for that time he wrecked my Lego 25 years ago, (still haven’t forgotten Jean) I do have to say this spot is awesome in their service with great wine recommendations, phenomenal food, and pleasant environment.Would strongly recommend for anyone to go.     Delicious food, delicious wine, and beautiful inside and out. Not sure what’s most incredible about the location - the backyard, the funky little dining room area with all kinds of New York-y photos, or the bathroom with the disco ball…yep, I said it, the bathroom. The wine selection is fantastic, as are the servers, and I always find something new and fun with the help of the super friendly staff. Order the deviled eggs to experience heaven (get it?!). Highly recommend for any group outing, it’s a great time!

    We came here for some after dinner drinks and were lucky enough to get seats at the bar. The vibes are really laidback, and there is an extensive wine list (over 100 by the glass). Brian was so helpful and provided us with excellent suggestions. We ended up having some time to kill the next afternoon so we went back to check out their covered patio and try a couple more wines. A great experience both times and will definitely be back at some point!

    Didnt eat there today but had the pleasure of meeting one of the servers, Ann, and the manager. They gave us a tour of the restaurant and explained the concept in great detail. Didnt get a chance to eat or try the wine, but the food looked delicious coming out of the kitchen and the wine list is extensive. Also, the restaurant has a really retro 80s vibe which is different than other places in the neighborhood.Excited to try this place in a few days!!!

    Very welcoming and unpretentious wine bar. The service was exceptional, we were offered to taste recommendations and our server knew a lot about everything on the menu. I honestly liked the decor too, its contemporary without being boring or repetitive. Music is a bit too loud for my taste but it was a great experience overall. Huge plus that its very close to IFC Center so you can have a glass while waiting for your movie!
