Born & raised in Boston -attended Boston University in the shadows of the flagship Capital Grille in Boston - When Rockefeller recruited /transferred me to Manhattan I discovered Managing Partner Bill Butler -locations on 42nd street , Rock Center & Wall Street. My clients love Executive Chef Partner Alex Garcia! His signature beef choices & sides are favorites!! GM Jill is fashionably dressed in a knockout red leather dress. Diningroom Mgr Laura is the “hostess with the mostest”!!Our waiter Luis was well versed in menu choices to complement our tastes! Bennett mixes a grey goose perfectly chilled!! We began with Seafood soup &.Jumbo shrimp cocktail. Perfectly prepared filet minion & a new seafood creation: 5 tender scallops over a risotto with lobster chunks perfectly cooked al dente!! And cheesecake with a gorgeous fruit medley to WOW the most discerning for dessert. The “Street talk”:. All midtown competition salivate for the “standing room only” customers in the lounge and without a reservation no availability in the diningroom!! This is a nice place to eat. They called to confirm my reservation the day before. The staff were very warm and welcoming from start to finish. The lovely ladies at the front desk checked our coats. In regards to this, I highly recommend wearing a sweater because it can get chilly for some when you are seated in the back near the windows. Brian was our server. He was very attentive to us. The bread selection was versatile and good. To start, I had the roasted beet and goat cheese salad with crushed pistachios and citrus vinaigrette along with the creamed spinach, shrimp cocktail and seared tenderloin with butter poached lobster tails. My mom had the lobster mac n cheese. I really enjoyed the salad, shrimp cocktail and surf n turf combo. The lobster mac n cheese was okay, but I will say that there are other places that can cook this a little better though. My take on it is that it was a little dry and needed more seasoning. All in all, good food and great service. I hope they reopen the one in FiDi so I can eat there again soon.

I had an incredible experience at this renowned upscale steakhouse . I was overjoyed because my friend happened to be in town for a meeting and decided to celebrate my 30th birthday during his business trip. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the red wine selection was outstanding. I must highly recommend the Tuna tartare as a fantastic appetizer. It was a memorable celebration that I wont forget.The staff was attentive and friendly,providing excellent service throughout our visit..

Reviews are by far the best way to judge whether you should or shouldn’t try a restaurant.The capital grille is situated in the heart of New York City. It’s a favorite hangout place for couples, families, and sportsmen. The atmosphere is welcoming and admirable. Out of all the different restaurants, this one had the most beautiful climate and eye-catching scenery. When you enter you get aw-stuck by the amazing interior and beautiful environment. You start to feel all cozy and comfortable when you sit and look around.They do also offer accommodation services with a wide array of choices for couples, singles, and families.The steak was cooked just as we ordered it, the portions were great, that you hardly can finish what you ordered.what I didn’t like that the food took long time to be served, also the raw fish appetizer was freezed. The spaces around the table were tight. Although we had a reservation, it took them more than 15 minutes to find us a table.Very active, helpful staff, who you find beside you before you ask.

Have dined at the old location a couple of times, which was down the street from Capital Grilles new location here at 200 Park Avenue. They did a beautiful job renovating what was an old pizza place into a stunning steakhouse setting. Today, we met some friends at the bar after work and had a fantastic time. The place was unsurprisingly packed. Well definitely be returning for a full meal the next time!

I went there a few weeks ago to celebrate a birthday for that same individual as a prior review (a very fortunate individual). We were a large party and reserved the wine vault which was a wonderful experience. The service was impeccable, and despite being completely secluded from the rest of the dining hall our servers never missed a beat. The food was wonderfully cooked, the seafood tower was impressive, and the drinks were fantastic. Ultimately, it’s the service that stands out and I will certainly revisit this location.

Excellent food. The restaurant does not take Apple pay / contactless pay. It was an issue for us, unfortunately so we had to go back to our hotel to get a debit card. The restaurant manager did not manage the case correctly as he did not trust us, coming back. Not the best way to manage a family , on the top my husband used to coming over as it is closed by his office....

Came for lunch during restaurant week. We had a 1 pm reservation but still had to wait a bit. Large accommodating space. Bustling atmosphere. The hostess and servers were very kind and attentive. Impeccable service. Our waiter made sure to ask us if we had a time limit (which we did as we were on lunch break) and got us everything in a timely manner. The food is great, from start to finish, very flavorful. The only disappointment was that my steak wasnt warm, more of a room temperature. Overall great experience.

This place is simply amazing, EVERYTHING about this place welcomes you. The atmosphere, FOOD, ambiance, ENERGYThe hospitality of the staff!!!😍😍😍😍 everything!! I am very happy I chose this place to bring the my boo to. We had a server who wanted us to call her crissy and this woman is the truth. She was down to earth, she gave great recommendations had me try two great tasting wines the cocktails were amazing, the food was superb I had a 10oz steak topped with Alaskan king crab garnished with asparagus with a delicious savory sauce that was amazing as well. My bf had an 18 oz. Ribeye steak with a side of seasoned mixed mushrooms as well as a side of lobster mac and cheese. And we both shared an appetizer of jumbo shrimp scampi that had a sauce thats was unforgettable to say the least I would recommend this place to anyone who wanted to dine at an amazing steak house. I would choose this place over rare 650 any day. That place cant compare to the service, food, anything at the Capitol grille. So yes go here you will not regret your service or food choice. Also ask for christine shes a server youll be glad you got!!! Oh and for all that we have ordered the bill came to around 250 for us both and it was an amount that was very well spent!!!

Had a celebratory birthday dinner at the Chrysler location. Not the biggest steak fan but have been craving it as of late and if your going to enjoy steak, Capital Grille is the place to do so. Service beginning to end was outstanding! Eric is a great asset to this place very hospitable, charming, knowledgeable and attentive. Notable mention of excellent service from Steadmon as well. The meals that adorned our table ranged from NY strip & lobster, salmon, chicken & Dry age NY strip which everyone savored and enjoyed. First rate service and food, will definitely be back.

Honestly one of the most delicious and fanciest meals I have ever had. Check out our starting seafood appetizer pic. I had the surf and turf baby! It was awesome and steak was mouth watering and cooked perfect. The lobster was fresh and delicious. Although the highlight was our waiter. Too notch service and a great guy to hang with. Oh and to top off a perfect evening the best creme brulee I have ever had. See pic.

It is not a cheap dinner or a cheap experience. It is worth every penny. Their staff is attentive and understands luxury dining and the importance of understanding each detail of what they serve. Make sure you order things exactly as you desire because they will deliver exceptionally. Their cocktails are expertly crafted, and each appetizer and entree was 5 star quality without question. Be a little adventurous on their menu, and you wont regret it. Come prepared for a significant bill but also prepared to have the most amazing dining experience that money can buy for that amount. If you desire a particular wine with dinner, their selection is likely to have your style--its an extensive list at many price points. Last but not least, the bread they put out comes out warm and with many different types. This is truly a destination eating experience for those that would like a classy taste of luxury.

We dine here before the lion king while visiting NYC. Service was amazing very attentive and intentional with every course including hot towels between appetizers and main course. We had calamari and shrimp cocktail to start, regular and bone is in filers with au gratin potatoes and asparagus. My son got the lobster Mac and cheese which flavor was on point but seemed a little dry. Highly recommend for a great meal and service to match while in NYC.

My experience here was very satisfying from the service to the food. Our server was very attentive and we did not need to call her over once. The quality of the food I had was excellent; I had the prosciutto wrapped cheese as my appetizer, and the sliced filet as my main course with a side of truffle fries. The appetizer was very good, and their balsamic was great; some of the best I tasted. I almost wanted to hold on to the plate even after finishing it because I could have cleaned it off using some bread lol. My main course exceeded expectations. Just look at the picture and see how juicy and delicious looking that steak is. They nailed the cook, and there was no fat at all which is perfect. I know that filets typically don’t have fat, but some restaurants do not serve the best quality cuts. This place did not have that problem, that is up there for one of my top steaks of 2024. The caramelized onions went with it beautifully, and even the fig essence worked which was a new idea to me. The truffle fries on the side were nice and crispy; definitely above average when comparing it with other fries. The entire experience was quite satisfying and if I were to go back, I would probably order the exact same thing again which says a lot. This is fine dining, so everything was quite expensive however I only have a few recommendations. If the steak came with those delicious fries on the side, it would be a near perfect plate rather than ordering them separately. I also wish they had free soda refills. I noticed they gave us small bottles, which is a restaurants way of saying no free refills. Everything else was quite steep, so free refills would have been nice. It affects the experience when I feel I need to ration my soda throughout the meal. These are just a few things, but not dealbreakers. The overall quality of the food and service is beyond what I could have asked for. Highly recommend checking this place out if you are in the area.

Throughout the evening, the staff graciously acknowledged and wished us a wonderful anniversary and thanked us for celebrating the occasion at Capital Grille.Our server, Corey O treated us with impeccable hospitality and made us feel very welcomed and right at home!!! He was kind, incredibly courteous, superbly addressed all of our inquiries and offered great insight and suggestions on the menu options.In addition to the great service, both my wife and I were impressed with Capital Grille’s elegant settings, especially the dark wood paneled interior, the tall glass windows, and the gorgeous art portraits spread throughout the restaurant. The playing of jazz music and classic hits sung by Billie Holiday & Louis Armstrong were also a great treat and enriched our romantic evening!!!Last, but certainly not least, my wife and I absolutely loved our meals. Everything from the appetizers to the entrees to our dessert was perfectly delicious!!! On a scale of 1 to 10, I would grade our meals a score of “ Infinity & Beyond.”My wife ordered and enjoyed her lamb chop based entree & her spinach side dish, while I ordered and loved my pan seared salmon based entree & my mash potato side dish. Our meals were superbly seasoned, tasty and wonderfully cooked. Five stars for food! Five stars for service! Our server, Neritan, was very attentive but not overbearing. He was there when we needed him but also gave us alone time to enjoy our food and drinks. Last but not least... amazing cocktails!

Our reservation was very easy on Open Table. The availability of a table was nice even at last minute. Upon arrival we were taken to a table by the window which was beautiful. The place settings were perfect. Brian was our waiter and one of the best I have ever had. His recommendations were on point and we had some of the best Brussel sprouts I have ever had. He was very attentive and even put up with my husbands antics about bottles of wine. From the cocktails, wine and entrees everything was great. I would have given it a 5 but the wait with a combination of lack of courtesy i lowered it to a 4. Our waiter was amazing, he really changed our mood, down to earth kind of guy and really funny so kudos to him. Since we went for a birthday lunch, they had decorated the table with confetti and brought out dessert for her so it was really nice. As for the main entree, I ordered a ribeye, my husband old age steak and my daughter chicken fingers. Everything was just cooked to perfection and my daughter enjoyed it which was great.

Absolutely amazing experience there for our anniversary dinner over the weekend. Walked in and the woman at the front greeted us and wanted to make sure I was well accommodated since I am pregnant. The table was decorated with confetti and everyone who came to our table greeted us with a happy anniversary. The service was impeccable, the food cooked to perfection. I will say that although everything was amazing there was a horrible group of people seated at the table across from our booth that could have ruined the experience if we had let them. They taunted staff and were extremely rude and disrespectful to staff and diners. When asked to leave for being disruptive they taunted and name called staff. For those staff members I wish to apologize because they did not deserve that disrespect and I would like to commend you all on your composure during that time. Your hard work does not go unnoticed!

For my most recent visit I sat at the bar with Dan (and Anne and Chad). Dan was fantastic and took very good care of me. Hes served me twice now, and Ive enjoyed every minute of it. I went to Capital Grille for my 13th birthday and the food was amazing! Everything from the pumpernickel bread and the lobster and crab stuffed shrimp to the Delmonico steak. Even the candy was great. Best meal ever!Update for 2018!Although I have been to The Capital Grille numerous times, the most recent has been the best so far. I unexpectedly won the Reservation Rescue for Valentines Day and had the pleasure of bringing my mom for dinner. The food was exquisite as always and came quickly! Our server, Tony, was exceptional and very radiant. Jill, the manager, came in to check on us several times through dinner to check on our status and answer any questions we had. One of the best parts of the evening was the kind note written to me congratulating me on winning the dinner and the surprise desert brought to us at the end of the dinner. It was an amazing experience and I will of course be back soon!

I was her for a business lunch, and it was quite average, maybe because it was rush hour. We waited 10 minutes before we were seated, and the interior was lovely at any part of the restaurant. Cozy on one side and a glass roof on the other, just next to the Chrysler bldg, great view. Oysters were very good. I has a salmon which I cant say that was very special, just ok. The others had steaks, requested as medium-rare but got more a medium. We did get the steaks on the house after this as well as a complimentary coffee. Its a good place but rush hour glitches do happen. Should be great for dinner.

We went here to celebrate the graduation of a loved one. The table we were seated at had a sprinkling of decorative glitter balloon and streamer shaped decorations that were done in advance by the restaurant.The crowd was business types, and the majority of diners were on their way out by the time we arrived for our 7:30PM reservation. The staff was very professional and accommodating. (they took several pictures for us throughout the night).I ordered the salmon (at a steakhouse?! I know..but I dont eat red meat). All of my other dining guests loved their various cuts of beef and couldnt finish the very large portions that they received.When ordering here, expect to order side dishes which do not come with your cuts of steak (my salmon came with a few cuts of asparagus). The macaroni and cheese was AMAZING as were the truffle fries.One thing that I liked about our server was that, when he was unsure about a wine recommendation to fit our needs, he found another server who could make a better suggestion. I appreciate the recognition that it was more important for us to be better served, than to pretend to know more about white wines than he did.We never felt rushed and we chatted and dined for at least 3 hours. This place is versatile for corporate dining, family dining and romantic dining.

Had an absolutely phenomenal lunch I had on October 11, 2021. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the host staff, which they were excellent and I got the table by the kitchen, as per my requests. Service was absolutely world-class. The waiter, Marcel took care of my requests like a professional. He made sure my glass of water was full each time and he poured whenever it wasnt full. The food turned out better than expected. Appetizer: french onion soup. perfectly executed. Cheese was perfectly melted and charred, soup stock, well flavored and onions melted with all the components. Entree was the bone-in dry aged NY strip steak. Cooked to the PERFECT medium that i ordered. Tasted kinda flavorless without a sauce, so I asked Marcel to get me some steak sauce, which he did exactly that, he brought over the capital grille signature steak sauce. The steak sauce. GAME-CHANGER. Well done with the steak. The side I ordered was the mashed potatoes, they did a very unique twist with the mashed potatoes, incorporating chopped red onions which I never seen before with mashed potatoes. Marcel brought over a free dessert, which I appreciated. This was my first time ever at the capital grille. The free dessert was great to conclude a top-notch dining experience. What an excellent dining experience and The Capital Grille is truly a fine dining restaurant.

Came here twice with my husband for our monthly day dates. Both times the ambiance was comfortable, classy and respectful. Staff is always friendly and helpful and the restaurant manager makes his rounds making sure everyone is enjoying themselves.Today, we had Angelo wait on us and not only were all of his recommendations on point but his demeanor was extremely pleasant and welcoming!! I had the daily special: Miso Butter Seabass and my husband had the Capital Grille CheeseBurger. For dessert we shared the coconut cream pie along with a cappuccino, all recommended by Angelo. Overall the food was a bit behind the atmosphere, the service and the prices. Expected a bit more, got a bit less. Would definitely try again to try some other dishes. Especially the meats on offer.

Eric the bartender handled all the food & drinks orders (including drinks for other tables) with a smile and an upbeat personality, running back and forth constantly, never resting. At one point, he checked with me if I had asked for the bill. even though I was only half way into my giant 22oz rib-eye. He did apologize and lightheartedly joked he wasnt trying to kick me out. The steak itself was wonderful. I barely finished it cuz it was HUGE! How can anyone eat sides or appetizers, too? Granted, I did cave and eat some of the complimentary bread. I ordered the porcini-rubbed bone-in rib-eye. The 15-year-old balsamic vinegar had this unique sweetness that brought out and enhanced the flavor of the meat. The steak was charred nicely, with just enough bitter burnt bits adding a nice crunch to every bite. My In Fashion cocktail was ordinary (like an old-fashioned), but thats not a bad thing. Sometimes pretentious cocktails are awkward.

A true 5 star dinner. I have dined at other locations and had great meals and service, so when I was in New York for a Friday night and looking for a great steak, Capital Grille was my first pick. The interior was a terrific mix of a super modern building with very traditional art deco furnishings and lighting. Our server was very knowledgeable and his timing was impeccable.We started with Mozzarella wrapped in Prosciutto with balsamic vinegar and tomatoes. It was absolutely perfect.My peppercorn crusted steak with Courvoisier cream sauce was a little overpowering, so I scraped off the peppercorns and it was otherwise cooked at the proper temperature and tasty.We had the truffle fries and green beans for sides. Of course anything prepared with truffle oil is going to be yummy, but surprisingly the green beans were quite memorable.For dessert we had strawberries and it was the perfect finish to the perfect meal. Ironically, the check was less than we thought it would be.

I was surprised they served us really well even though half of our group looked like pig pen with the move.We had a great booth next to a grand painting of Joe Dimaggio. Our serve was great. The new location on 45th Street is more spacious than the original location on 42nd Street.I ordered the bone-in NY strip, the first time Ive had it. Usually the NY strip is served boneless. While the cream brulee is pretty standard, they were very generous with the berries garnishing.While this isnt my favorite steakhouse, Id still recommend it.

I have been here a couple of times. Once for a special occasion and once for Thanksgiving (Samanthas parents were away and I couldnt go back home this year). This spot is very nice. It has a pretty big dining area and a bar area. There are windows in the back area facing the outside with very nice views of the surrounding midtown east buildings. The crowd is business like, but some people dress up and while others dress down. Thanksgiving night was actually very family oriented with lots of kids. The other night that we came was mainly adults.The menu is great.For appetizers I have had the truffle fries and lobster mac and cheese. Both of these were great. For Thanksgiving we mainly chose this place for these two items. They were that good.Obviously, most people come for the steak, which is great. I have had the bone in kona crusted dry aged sirloin and porcini rubbed Delmonico. I always get my steak medium rare, and it was great. The Delmonico, I thought was a little burnt, but still good. The kona crusted was amazing!!Sam has had the Salmon and Lobster. The lobster was mouth watering amazing. The salmon was great also. It seems like you can not really miss here. When I came with my family, I had some of their dishes also and they were all good.The ice cream and cheesecake for desserts were good, nothing to write home about, but great.

Perfect place for steak lovers! But I also love the fish and seafood being served here.Conveniently situated at Chrysler Building, Grand Central, Midtown Manhattan, at 42nd st, between 3rd and Lexington Ave, it is close to my office and at the UNHQ.The Place is spacious, great services and great food.Love its sirloin, rib eye, as well as lobster, oyster, salmon steak and lobster and crab burger! The French fries is super yummy and crunchy. Don’t forget to order the mash potatoes and creamy spinach! And creamy soup for appetizer! Delicious.As for dessert, the the cheese cake, coconut pie, creme brûlée and key lime pie or ice cream! 😘😘😘😘The price is a bit more expensive but similar to other great steakhouse. Approximately $120-150 for two without alcohol :)Bon appetit!

If you like lobster try their Maine lobster salad with citrus vinaigrette. Salad is light and citrusy, yet satisfying. We were served Fiji branded water at the table, a very nice touch. Service was efficient but not intrusive.

Went here for dinner with co-workers. Service for our table was very slow on a Thursday, party of 3. The steak lobster tails, creamed spinach,mash potatoes and cocktail old fashion were all very good.

Our party of 5 arrived a bit later than our reservation, but were accomdated as if we were the only guests in the restuarant. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. I must say that the bar tender, Dan, is a true mixologist and every diner should end their night with him for the ultimate Captial experience. Dan was personable, friendly and very knowledgeable about the liquor offerings. I would definitely visit again.... but I would opt to eat at the bar just to engage in conversation with Dan... he is awesome!Food: Ribeye- perfect medium rare and cooked to perfectionLobster and crab cakes- AwesomeCalamari: Awesome and a kid friendly appetizer.. also good for sharingBone in filet- tender and melts in your mouthPorterhouse- easily addictive and cooked to perfectionLobster tails- tender and well worth the price

Everything was great! The service was second to none, the food was amazing, and the wine our waiter helped us pair with our steaks and seafood was perfect. There arent enough positive things I can say about Capital Grille. I just wish it wasnt priced so high so I could go there more often!

Lobster mac-n-cheese is amazing!!! My favorite to date. Calamari appetizer is also really good (big portion). Cant comment on the steak since I was so full from the two that I couldnt eat anymore but will return for sure. Im sure Ill say Im returning to try the steak but I will end up ordering the same two items again.

Came for the pre-theater dinner 3 course meal for $37. although i love a great steak, this was my most disappointing experience of the week. the onion sauce on the bone-in sirloin ruined the taste of the steak, the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were tasteless. the mixed greens salad and ice cream desert were mediocre at best. even the wine was disappointing. i will not return.
