Living in New York almost 7 years and seeing so many places come and go , you never know what will stick around and thank goodness Pastis is still going strong. It is one of those places I came before I moved here to have an enchanting experience after walking the high line with dreams of living here. Every season they somehow manage to make it feel more and more magical.Sure can it be a little pretentious with some of the staff or bartenders who definitely seem to favor people who look more *elite* or like they will tip more $$ (yes, for sure) I’m in the service industry, so I get it lol! It’s a bit obnoxious but hey- whatever ! It’s expensive to live in NYC and we are all just doing our best to survive out here. It’s the best space to people watch, to get tucked into a little nook and cranny or at a bar seat and have cozy well portioned and delicious French food. I would come here every day in the winter just for the French onion soup because it truly is the best in the city; not too sweet, onions aren’t cut too thick, the broth is not too thick and syrupy it feels lux but still light, great bread ratio to soup, cheese perfectly melted with toasty bits- a true Parisian French onion soup. The steak sandwich is a hit, the burger, the croque madame of course..but beyond the food, the ambiance, the classic New York feel, the best part of Pastis hands down is Arnold. He is an absolute treasure beyond words. I would come every day for the French onion soup and to have a chat with Arnold- he made sure to take extra great care of my parents who were visiting and especially since we were seated last minute by the dreaded back of the house by the kitchen (although we truly didn’t mind we loved seeing all the fragrant food coming out.) thank you Arnold you made our night !! -

This restaurant never disappoints—always brimming with energy and good vibes. Do yourself a favor and order the Lobster Frites. You’ll thank me later! -

Let me emphasize that Pastis is an outstanding choice for your weekend dining, whether youre in the mood for a leisurely brunch or a satisfying lunch. The restaurant features an extensive menu that caters to various tastes, ranging from classic breakfast items to indulgent entrees like steak frites.I enjoyed sampling two dishes during my visit: the artichokes and the chicken paillard. Each offering was exceptional, and I appreciated that both options suit those following a gluten-free diet. I recommend the artichokes; they were delectable and highlighted the meal. However, if you’re dining with a larger group—more than two people—be aware that one order of artichokes may not suffice, as its a relatively small starter.Based on the area’s dining landscape, the service met my expectations. While it didn’t stand out, it was efficient and courteous, contributing positively to the overall experience. One aspect worth noting is Pastiss stunning decor and thoughtful interior design. Upon entering, you cant help but feel as if youve been transported straight to Europe, thanks to the charming aesthetic and cozy atmosphere. The venue is beautifully maintained, both indoors and outdoors, where guests can enjoy dining alfresco with outdoor heaters for cooler weather.Given its popularity, I highly recommend making a reservation to ensure you secure a table at this lovely establishment. -

Had a chance to eat at Pastis while the Dishoom pop-up was going on. It was an absolute delicious experience. We went for the breakfast and was amazed at how good the plates were (particularly the chai) and also the service by the Pastis team was great. Highly recommend the restaurant (and the pop up if you see this in the next few days). I hope this type of experience happens again in the future -

Try the hot chocolate in winter and youll thank me later. The food was good, fresh and cane fast. Other folks were also pleased with their orders. Id come back for dinner. The patio outside is really nice during summers some of the covered tables are heated too. -

Vibrant Atmosphere and Fantastic Food & Drinks!Pastis in the Meatpacking District is an absolute classic! The lively, bustling atmosphere makes it the perfect spot for a fun night out or a weekend brunch. The service is top-notch—friendly, attentive, and efficient, even during busy times. The French onion soup is rich, flavorful, and comforting—a must-try! Pair it with one of their expertly crafted Old Fashioned cocktails for a truly satisfying experience. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Pastis is a must-visit destination for great food, drinks, and a vibrant vibe. Highly recommend! -

The most impressive part of the experience is the hostess stand - multiple monitors and hostess, figuring out seating availability like high frequency traders. Hats off.We didn’t have a reservation for the busy brunch time. The hostesses magically found an outdoor table for us. Perfect weather for some bubbles, steak tartare and modern French fares on the side walk for a Sunday, people watching and post Whitney Biennial visit. -

We are so happy we chose to come here. The food was incredible, the servers were kind and helpful, and the vibe was perfect. The escargot was out of this world and the lobster bisque was rich and creamy. The lobster risotto special was delicious and the duck was rich and savory. Our server and the man who asked to take our dishes were both extremely friendly and made us feel welcome on our first visit. They even made sure to bring out a dessert for my husband’s birthday when we had to rush out Thank you Pastis, what a special place! 😊 We will definitely be back! -

Review 10 (2022-09-29 - Rating: 5)
Everything about this place is phenomenal from the service to the food.To begin, our flight to NYC got delayed so I called the restaurant informing them we would be 45 minutes late for our reservation. The hostess said “life happens” and happily rescheduled us to a later time. When we sat down we were immediately greeted by our server who was ON IT the entire time. We told her we were in a bit of a rush due to our flight delay and she took that seriously! We received our food -

Wow - its always like a mini trip to Paris, but with such nice hosts and servers. I have fantastic food, a great corner seat, and impeccable service every time. Best mussels in town too. -
Review 12 (2023-10-09 - Rating: 4)
Had dinner with my best friends here. We made reservations for dinner on a super rainy night. Originally we were set for outside seating but they were nice to accommodate us to be inside. For dinner it’s a dimly lit restaurant and pretty cozy. We ordered a couple of apps such as the crispy artichoke, escargot, the onion soup. They also provided us with bread and whipped butter so delicious I could probably eat that by itself. The starters alone were super delicious, seasoned nicely. Personal surprising favorite of mine was the artichokes for their texture and flavor. Like a healthy, earthy, super crispy fry. We honestly were pretty full before we moved forward to our entree. I ordered the hangar steak which comes with a huge amount of fries. The fries were also crispy and nice. I have the say the hangar steak was a little disappointing. I felt like my best friend and I had two different sizes. As you got towards the middle of it, it started to get better. It wasn’t terrible but not necessarily my most favorite steak I’ve ever had either. I’d go again solely for the starters, and maybe try their sandwiches. -

Definitely classified as fine dining, but the price is worth the environment! The service was so attentive and the food was fantastic. Make sure to plan ahead with a reservation! -
Review 14 (2024-12-17 - Rating: 5)
We had drinks many years ago at Pastiss former location. Today was the first dining experience, and I have to say that the experience was absolutely fantastic! I had what was probably the best chicken paillard ever. The service and atmosphere were fantastic as well. I remember now why this place is and was so hard to get a reservation at! Couldnt recommend Pastis highly enough. -
Review 15 (2025-01-03 - Rating: 5)
Always love this place for the food and the atmosphere, but more than that, sitting at the bar and having Chris take care of me is the best. He manages to get everyone a seat, in due time, and he makes you feel welcomed and special. Remembers your name and drink. The absolute best. -

One of my favorite restaurants in NYC! I love French restaurants and it doesn’t get any more iconic than Pastis! I just LOVE everything in here- the place, the vibe, the food, cocktails and desserts. I always have a great experience going here. Nice service as well. Highly recommend! -

Keith McNally really must treat his employees well because all of his restaurants that we have been to.... all of his staff were always extra nice and happy to be there. That must be the number one secret to success in the restaurant business. Food 2nd.that is one of the reasons we always come back. Even though there are so many places to try -

First time at Pastis. We ended up going as it was a favourite of my partner’s father. We were lucky enough to get a table - it was really busy when we got there (Christmas time). The staff were friendly and quick to sort out our order. The food came really quickly and was really good. A great choice on the wine list too. The only downside was that we were sat along the external door and it was pretty drafty.Other than that i cannot fault the restaurant, it was a lovely afternoon. -

My favorite place. A must stop every time I’m in the city. Service is excellent the balance between class chic and casual is great and the food is delicious. Tunes are always on point as well and not overwhelming. Well balanced experience every time I’m there. -
Review 23 (2023-06-22 - Rating: 5)
This is one of my favorite restaurants in New York. No kidding, I have been visiting Pastis at least once a week for the past two years. I have tried almost everything on their menu, and I have never been disappointed—neither with the food nor the menu itself. Each dish is incredibly delicious, and the presentation is on point. The ambiance of the place is super cute and cozy, adding to the overall dining experience. The service is consistently amazing; the staff is always friendly and welcoming. Its worth noting that they are pet-friendly, and my dog is always well taken care of here. I cannot express enough how satisfied I am with everything at Pastis. I truly wish more restaurants in New York would match their level of service and consistency. -
Review 24 (2024-09-22 - Rating: 4)
Ive been here multiple times. Often the place is a zoo, but that is NYC late at night. I found the host(ess) tried to accommodate me even when the place was packed. Likewise, I appreciate the servers, and have gotten to know a few. Food quality is decent enough, but the last couple times I was disappointed with the main portion size (duck). I know this place is French, but still. I recommend the cheese platter for dessert. -
Review 25 (2024-05-29 - Rating: 5)
Having some amazing duck confit and such great service I’m literally leaving a review while here. The sauce is flavorful. The meat is tender. Frisée was an interesting combo to me on the menu but loved it. And honestly my server is the sweetest. Having a blast and will be back any time I’m in the area. (Eating by myself but great date spot everyone is paired up)Also the tuna crudo is bomb -
Review 26 (2023-04-05 - Rating: 5)
Step off the street of the Meatpacking District onto the Champs Èlysées (or as I imagine it anyway) :)The atmosphere and decor are perfectly designed, the staff efficient and friendly, and it all gives a real neighbourhood in France vibe. Plus the food is delicious (try the Duck Confit). Overall Highly recommended! -
Review 27 (2024-08-03 - Rating: 5)
Pastis has been one of our favorite restaurants since it opened. The atmosphere feels authentically French. Its got a fun vibe, and the food is sensational. Its always tough to decide which dishes to have as theyre all terrific. Last night we had the Friday special, the best bouillabaisse imaginable, and the duck confit. The place was filled, yet the service was impeccable and friendly, from the hostess making sure wed be comfortable (it was raining out so she suggested we eat indoors, rather than outside) to the waiter, who was delightful and being asked by Nicole, who introduced herself as the Service Manager, how things went. If I could give it more stars, I would. Its the place I always suggest to out of town friends and where Id be happy to eat every night. -

Everything is delicious, came here for a Sunday lunch/brunch after visiting Whitney Museum. Busy ans crowded but great atmosphere. Steak sandwiches and fries, Egg benedict all so yummy! Even the coffee and profiterole! Can’t wait to return to try other things on the menu. -

Review 30 (2023-02-04 - Rating: 4)
I visited for a spontaneous late night dinner and loved this spot. The energy is the first thing to notice about this place. It is warm and inviting and makes you want to be there. I got there at around 10:30pm and it was packed with people enjoying food and drinks. The service was top notch and they ensured we had everything we needed. Lastly, the food was absolutely delicious. I had the tuna crudo and the hanger steak. I ate the steak so quickly, I forgot to take a picture of it. That should tell you how good the quality of food is here. I definitely need to return to try more things on the menu.I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful restaurant to enjoy a meal. -
Review 31 (2022-11-09 - Rating: 5)
Lovely little French bistro and those are my favorite. Very authentic vibe. Was able to squeeze in as a table for one shortly after opening on a Monday night. Took the waiters advice and ordered the plat du jour - the Dorade Royal en Papillote which was divine. The presentation was fun (parchment cut open at the table... the aroma deliciously exploded out) and the fish was delightful. Bubbles and a creme brulee for dessert and this girl left HAPPY! Great place. Check it out. -
Review 32 (2021-09-13 - Rating: 4)
Went with friends for Sunday brunch. Since I’m vegan and gluten free my options in the menu were quite limited but the wife was very kind to show me the dishes I can order.I took the heirloom salad and sautéed spinach and drank oat milk latte. Everything tasted amazing and I really enjoyed it but I can’t say it was a filling meal. I should have probably ordered the oatmeal with berries in addition. -
Review 33 (2023-01-02 - Rating: 5)
Excellent French restaurant in the meatpacking district. We came here for Sunday brunch and it was pretty good. This restaurant is a sister property to the Baltazar another restaurant. I prefer this location as it has a bit more of a casual vibe compared to Baltazar in Soho. Damian, who was our server was outstanding. -
Review 34 (2021-09-24 - Rating: 5)
Pastis’s burger is one of the best. It was cooked perfectly. It tasted juicy and delicious and it was certainly filling. My group also split the pancakes, which were fluffy and sprinkled with just the right amount of sugar. In addition to the incredible food, Pastis has a great drink menu, and it’s decorated beautifully with ornate designs. So Americana! I will certainly be back. -
Review 35 (2024-12-11 - Rating: 5)
Late-night dinners at Pastis always hit the spot. Elliott and I stopped in after a night at The Whitney for a buzzy meal, and it didn’t disappoint. We started with the shrimp cocktail—classic and fresh—and the tuna crudo, which was perfectly delicate and flavorful. For mains, I had the half chicken, juicy and cooked just right, while Elliott went for the monkfish, which was beautifully prepared and full of flavor.Pastis nails that timeless brasserie vibe with food that’s consistently solid. It’s always a reliable go-to for a late-night bite. -
Review 36 (2023-02-19 - Rating: 5)
I absolutely loved everything about this place. It’s got a vibrant and historic charm to it, the service was friendly and everything we ordered was so good! The croque madame was amazing as was the escargot. The cocktails were also very much on point. I’ll be back! -

I’ve been in NY for 17 years and I’m not sure how this was my first time at Pastis. I’ll have to makeup for lost times. Food, wine, service and atmosphere was top shelf. Definitely worth it. -
Review 38 (2022-11-07 - Rating: 5)
Truly fabulous French restaurant outside of Paris.Came here for my bday dinner with a friend.I’m fairly dialed into what a Michelin starred dining experience is and have eaten at regular five star restaurants.Pastis not only surprised me with traditional French dishes but also had interesting options. Their wine and beer menu also didn’t disappoint.Though busy with a large party, our server gracefully balanced her attention and always checked in at the opportune moment. When it came to drinks his beer apparently was delicious as he drank half of it before dinner. My friend said it was possibly the best chicken dinner he’s ever had, high praise considering the man loves meat and red meat in particular. I agreed after taking a few bites really wanted to have more but that would’ve been rude. 🙂 His whipped as light and airy by angels creamy potatoes was also delicious. My dish which I thought was going to be steak and mushrooms turned out to be just mushrooms however OMG they’re were unexpectedly meaty and came with a sauce I must learn how to make. The mushrooms were not chewy, had the texture of a large radish but the flavor of a mushroom with amazing Marsala like sauce and the texture and flavor combination was incredible. My wine pairing of the Pinot noir was perfect as well.Service: A+Food: A+Atmosphere: A+Great place for an intimate dinner or a small group setting. -

This is the fourth time I’ve visited Pastis. I’ve been there over several decades. I appreciate that, even with the changes the place has undergone, they’ve maintained the quality of their food, drinks, and service. The atmosphere has even improved. -
Review 42 (2022-06-19 - Rating: 5)
Delicious brunch for a great price. The dishes are a good size and they do coffee refills which isn’t always the case in NYC. The quiche florentine and croque madame we’re especially good! -
Review 43 (2023-06-12 - Rating: 5)
Came here for brunch on a Sunday. I made the reservation a few days in advance and they only time they had available was 2:30pm. You definitely need to plan ahead for weekend reservations here. The brunch menu was good and they had a lot of healthy options. My friend got the egg white omelette and I had the eggs Benedict. Both were delicious. -
Review 44 (2023-03-25 - Rating: 4)
French Bistro classic. The restaurant was full during mid week evening, vibes were great and the service was superb. Food tend to be a bit old school but well prepared. Overall a great place to enjoy dinner. -

You’ll find at Pastis the best steak sandwich !!Great fries too!Only issue is that I got a food poisoning due to their mayo (kept in a fridge placed on the floor which door doesn’t close), emailed to explain but no answer at all. (Check your inbox and reply!!)I still came again for the steak sandwich!Service is good as usual. -
Review 47 (2022-10-04 - Rating: 5)
We came here on a Friday night and it was absolutely packed. They filled up every inch of the place and I saw people knocking things over left and right. It was so so loud which made the experience less enjoyable. The food however was very good. We got the entrecôte and the steak sandwich which were both amazing. -
Review 48 (2022-08-24 - Rating: 5)
A delicious restaurant in a lovely area.Would definitely come back to try different dishes. The Steak Sandwich is a must ! Keep in mind that it’s big and it’s better to do a mix with another dish. -
Review 49 (2022-06-23 - Rating: 5)
Went to our favorite French restaurant in NYC. Were able to get a reservation same day on Fathers Day for 8:15pm. We both had our personal favorite, Onion Soup, along with the Salade Niçoise. Enough food for two combined with a caraf of the Muscadet Sevre-Et-Maine which was delightful. Ambiance was wonderful as well, as to be expected. Overall another fine dining experience. -
Review 50 (2022-03-25 - Rating: 4)
Let me save you time and money, don’t get the hanger steak, this ain’t it here. However….and I say this being absolutely amazed…the burger…kicks ass…if there was one single item across the 9 restaurants I’ve been to on this trip it is the best out of them all. DO NOT SLEEP on this burger. -

Review 52 (2021-12-04 - Rating: 4)
I came in the afternoon for lunch. Thankfully they are open past 3 PM when a lot of the other places in the area are closed. We were seated immediately. They have a large number of tables for about 2 to 6 people. They mostly just put tables together for parties that are larger. They have a pretty large space as well I would say I got about 20 tables and the seating at the bar as well. The service was pretty quick and the wait staff was fairly attentive but I did notice that they had fewer wait staff which might’ve been the covid time that we were in.We ordered the steak in pepper sauce, the salad nicoise and the toffee pudding. The salad nicoise‘s was really fresh and I highly recommend this. The portion is large enough for a good meal. I asked for mustard on the side and they did give a pretty good spicy mustard. The Steak was prepared to my friends liking with just a small amount of pink in the center and The pepper sauce was pretty delicious. It comes with fries on the side. I love the toffee pudding and I would get this every time. It tasted like a rum cake but it came with a lovely caramel sauce on it and ice cream on the sideI will definitely come back when I am in the area. -

I had been here pre-kids (13+ years ago) and we loved it then and we still love it now. Such a lovely atmosphere and the food is spot on. I love when I can find a place that remains consistent and is still great. Can’t wait to come back again on our next visit.Service was great. I was thinking of something and she brought it right to me without having to say it out loud! Now that’s service!!If you have larger parties, I would recommend you make a reservation to avoid a wait. Most tables are smaller tops.Everything we ate was great! -

A very happening spot in meat packing area and was fairly crowded for our 6pm reservation on a Tuesday. This is a loud place inside and has ample of seating outside too.The service was good, the food has interesting options but better for non-vegetarians. As a vegetarian, the beet salad, ricotta ravioli and crispy artichokes were good. -

What a great night. First of all the food was soooooo GOOD! Service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly, gave great suggestions and he was there at perfect moments to check in with us in a way that wasn’t too much/too little. Burned my mouth on those delicious escargots that took a week to go away LOL. If you’re like me who cannot wait when good food is in front of them, please wait a good 10 minutes when that app comes out. In a great area to walk around to do some shopping before/after too. We Will definitely be back soon!!!❤️ -

I have been booking reservations for my clients here for years and when I finally for to experience Pastis on Friday night, I understand exactly why it has the reputation it does. We got the French Onion Soup (you cant not get it, it is a classic!), the Beef Bourguignon, Cauliflower Au Gratin... but on top of all of that, the service was really what made the experience special. Cannot WAIT to go back! -

Visited the Whitney Free Friday and was able to score a table here at 5:40. It was cheery and convivial and there was a celebratory air —the start of the weekend for many young couples, girlfriends and double dates sitting around us. The food was good but not amazing. The scallops crudo was amazing and innovative with the passionfruit/lime essence. The mains (moules frites and duck confit) were tasty and well delivered but pretty standard. The smashed roasted potatoes with the duck confit was a bit too soft. The rouge fumée cocktail was excellent! Service was very attentive and super. -
Review 66 (2021-03-27 - Rating: 5)
This review is months late but needs to be posted because their food is INCREDIBLE. The French Onion Soup will probably be the best you’ve ever had. I took a 45min trip back just to have their Steak Sandwich again - so that’s really all that needs to be said. Their fries have a solid place amongst the best I’ve had in NYC (others being Mercer Kitchen, Top of the Standard & Mark Hotel fries) Even something as simple as their omelettes were amazing. And I couldn’t get enough of their orange juice which was so fresh! When I first visited at the beginning of the year, it was outdoor dining only but they had a great heating set up and I remember the server being extremely nice. This is one of my go-to recommendations when someone asks for a good brunch place. Except it’s not good, it’s GREAT. Can’t wait to be back! -

This place is a modern classic for a reason. Walking in feels like you’re entering a neighborhood brasserie in Paris, with its warmth, charm and buzzy atmosphere. The food is impeccable - I had steak frites and the foie gras appetizer but honestly everything looked amazing. I would have come here earlier and more often if my partner wasn’t vegetarian, though I spied a few good vegetarian options on the menu this time that weren’t salad (a welcome departure from an actual Parisian joint). A few things that could have been improved: 1. When we got the check, two drinks that we didn’t have had been added on to our bill, an error which my friend luckily caught and brought to our server’s attention. She took it off but not without some kerfuffle - we had to bring our cards out again to void the original and even then we weren’t given the new itemized bill with our CC receipts until we asked for it, which seemed a bit strange. 2. My friend and I asked for more bread for the foie gras and were given their sourdough table bread, which while great was a bit too heavy and thick compared to the crust-off toasted white bread that originally came with it. 3. Not a huge deal but the martinis I got were pretty watery, I’d probably stick with wine next time. -

The trout was good, so was the scallops. As for the steak, it came a bit more done than expected, as it would be good if the meat cab also come with some salad and not just fries. It helps to balance off the greasiness of the meat and garlic butter. Service was great as well. -

Love it where!’ It’s become one of our go-to places every time we’re in NYC! We went twice during our 2 night stay because it is that good. Our waiter was so nice and the food was amazing. And been there again in January 2024 and the food was waaaay too salty, but this time, everything was great. My only criticism is that new tuna carpaccio… not great. My husband and I shared it as an appetizer and we both weren’t fans of it. It’s as if someone had made ground tuna and spread it on a plate. Couldn’t pick up a single slice without it disintegrating. But other than that, we LOVED our food and went back for breakfast 😂 will definitely be going back!! -

My favorite French restaurant in NYC! I know there are plenty of French spots in the city, but Pastis is hands down the best. We absolutely love the escargot—perfectly mixed with garlic and butter, it had us finishing the entire basket of bread. The onion soup, steak, and oysters are all excellent as well. Their brunch is another highlight. The egg white omelette and eggs benedict are our go-tos. It’s the perfect place to start a day with decent breakfast. -

Went to Pastis for a birthday brunch with my friend and we had the best time. Had the Eggs Norwegian and it was delicious (make sure to finish yours while it’s warm!). Our waiter was attentive and kept refilling our champagne glasses with subtlety (we ordered a bottle). They included a candle with my dessert, which was very sweet of them. Will be returning! -

Pastis, a charm in the restaurant realm, seamlessly marries vintage allure with culinary modernity right in the heart of the city. The moment you step into this quaint eatery, you are transported back in time, thanks to the meticulously preserved old tiles and the warm, old-world ambiance. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a cozy French bistro, with a touch of New York chic, providing a nostalgic yet sophisticated dining environment. The service at Pastis is a polished performance of attentiveness and courtesy. The staff exudes a professional yet friendly demeanor, ensuring a seamless dining experience from start to finish. Right from the warm welcome at the door to the efficient coat check service, every interaction is carried out with grace and precision. The coat check is particularly appreciated, adding a layer of comfort and convenience to the dining experience. The pièce de résistance, however, was the duck breast entrée. Cooked to perfection with a beautiful sear on the outside while tender and succulent on the inside, it was a culinary masterpiece that melted in the mouth with each bite. The flavors were robust yet refined, showcasing a finesse in preparation and presentation that is hard to come by.Pastis doesn’t just offer a meal, but a sublime journey back in time with modern-day gourmet delights. The impeccable service, comforting atmosphere, and delectable dishes like the duck breast make Pastis a restaurant par excellence. Every element, from the well-preserved vintage decor to the exquisite culinary offerings, resonates with a dedication to providing an unparalleled dining experience. A visit to Pastis is not merely a meal, but an exquisite narrative of tradition, comfort, and culinary innovation that leaves a lasting impression on the palate and the soul. -

A terrific experience right from the start. We were greeted like they were happy to see us. I thought the music was quite loud in the front, but we were seated in a quieter area without having to ask for it. Seemed to take quite a while to get that first drink, but service was attentive after that. The food was first-rate all through dinner. I would unreservedly recommend Pastis to anyone. -

Overall a really lovely dinner. Damien our server was lovely, attentive, great energy, and no mistakes. Delicious food, great non alcoholic options. Brothers got cocktails and loved them. Dishes we loved: steak au poivre, warm shrimp salad, crispy artichokes, sardines, cauliflower au gratin, sorbet and ice cream.Just would have preferred an indoor table. Upon asking the hosts we’re quite cold and harsh, didn’t give much flexibility. Told us they could only cancel our reservation and rebook for 8:15 which was 30 mins wait from our arrival. -

As it goes in NYC its always noisy and crowded in a good restaurant. Minimal bar seating but I encourage you to engage with the bar staff. They always make great recommendations.Tuna crudo was so light and flavorful. Lovely bread basket, butter lighter than air, and delicious potato leek soup was a perfect light dinner. Nothing can touch the super tasty and balanced concoction that was crafted especially for me - some filthy martini monster made with the nicois pickled mix.I see why this place is renowned in a city renowned for its restaurants. -

Found! Again! It seems like Pastis never left. This new location looks and feels like the old one. Every detail has either been replicated or recreated to resemble the old. If it aint broke, dont fix it. Even the menu is exactly the same as the old (from memory). And of course, everything coming from the kitchen is very good. Perfect stop for a boozy lunch or light dinner with a friend(s).For more great reviews visit TheLoupe! -

Pastis. Sublime as ever, though I had trouble finding it. Yes, I know I date myself by assuming it was in a different location. The service is top notch here, even though I thought I had to wait too long for that second coffee. Im giving Pastis a fab review because I love it and always have but also to offset the Mr Negative Karma & Co who was sitting next to me and complained that he could get a more complete order at Burger King. Smh. My pancakes were amazing ok! And just what I needed for Sunday brunch. I would have told him off of I wasnt so chuffed with my choice in restaurant and menu item. And for the record at Pastis there are always serval people looking after your experience. -

Came in here randomly after biking and it was excellent! Sheridan’s recommendation of the poulet was top notch. The scallop crudo’s passionfruit sauce was heavenly and the sticky toffee pudding just sealed the deal. We didn’t make a reservation and I think it was around 5pm and a little light, definitely picked up by the time we left. It was such a bright spot of a meal, I’m going to be thinking about it for a while. Can’t wait to come back. That sticky toffee pudding was HEAVENLY, you’re reading me? It’s even better than the one at The smith which was my number 1 for a long time. -

The original Pastis was one of my favorite restaurants in the city but I must say - the food and service at the new Pastis is on a different level. At a time when restaurants are cutting corners on food quality and service Pastis is impeccable. Everything we ordered was delicious and every aspect of service…from the matre d…to the wait staff…to the service staff were all extremely professional, courteous and attentive. Needless to say, it’s earned its spot as one of NY’s finest, most memorable restaurants. -

Walking into Pastis reminded me of my trip to Paris last year. Lovely ambience and decor, albeit on a larger scale than most Parisienne bistros. Service was exceptional. Food was overall very good, although the escargot were overcooked...a few were burned, sticking to the bottom. Excellent wine, steak and frites and hot shrimp salad. And the creme brulee was divine. Enjoyed ourselves. -

Once youre able to get a seat...wow!!! We had a large party and they normally do not accommodate. However, they were able to find us 2 tables, and we sent the kids to eat at 1. The adults went to the other. We were there with locals, and they said its their favorite French place. Boy, were they right! Fantastic food, excellent service, and a fun and vibrant atmosphere. The French onion soup is by far the best Ive ever had (it dethroned the one I had at a bistro in Paris). The Croque Madame was so soft and moist, perfectly cooked. Everyone raved for days about what they ordered. Will be adding this to my favorite restaurants in NYC from now on! -

Pastis is opened to impress. I first know about this restaurant through watching an episode of Sex and the City, Season 6 and have been thinking of trying it. Pastis does not dissappoint. From the moment I stepped into the space, I felt as if I had been transported to a street in Paris. The interior architecture and decor spoke to me of the romance one felt when in Paris. Host and wait staff provided good services. Polite and attentive. On to the best part, Food. Pastis Bar Steak was one of the best steak I ever had currently. Cooked to a perfect temperature of med-rare, tender and juicy. After the first bite, one couldnt help but to finish it ALL. And to finish the meal off, I must have the Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée served with a warm madeleine. Crème Brûlée, soft-textured custard with the crunchy browned sugar on the soft provided the perfect ending to a delightful french lunch! -

The old Patis was a much beloved hotspot, and I was upset when it was shut down. When I heard they were opening it back up, I was initially excited but couldn’t grasp and had to ask myself why. This current location is not too bad, but nothing can’t compete with the old Patis. The quality isn’t what I remember it was for. The old Patis vibe is still kind of there, but it has lost its sparkle appeal and hate to say its forgettable now. Perhaps, Patis was always overrated if not meh but will have a place in NYer’ hearts. -

Best food we had in NYC. Rivals some of the food we had in Paris. Service was great. The highlight was us asking the waiter for a bar recommendation for after dinner. Great experience! It was absolutely packed on a Saturday night. We were lucky to have been able to walk in and ask for a table of 5, with only a 10 minute wait. We sat outside but the tables are heated from above a little bit. We couldn’t really feel the heat though lol. The food was tasty, the escargots were a little overseasoned with garlic. I liked the Chicken Kiev a lot and my friends liked the other dishes as well. I would go back for sure and try the other items on the menu. The dessert was great too. Loved the creme brulee and the other pic I attached (forgot the name). We each paid probably between $40-$60 after tax and tip. -

It was one of a few favorite places before it closed years ago, and it still is after the reopening. Everything was so delicious 💫 -
Review 154 (2024-01-22 - Rating: 5)
My first time back after the reopening at the current location. Im pleasantly relieved to report that the zeitgeist of the original has been maintained. We had the delicious escargot served in little deep pockets of garlic butter with crispy baguette slices, as well as the crispy artichoke, a perfectly executed Jewish Roman dish - Carcioffi alla Giudia. While the menu description said garlic aioli, it was actually just a (deliciously) flavored smooth mayonnaise and lacked the bite Ive come to expect from a true aioli. We also ordered the croque madame, which was perfection on the plate, with a side of deliciously crisp and evenly dressed gem lettuce, as well as the Quiche Florentine which looks like it was baked in a deep dish pizza pan or spring form. Truly a magnificent height and was equally flavorful. Of course, brunch would not have been complete without their impeccably balanced Bloody Mary (I take mine with Hendricks). The experience really brought me back to the original location, and the nostalgia alone was worth it. Highly recommend an excellent, quintessential, NYC brunch experience. -

Have been here twice since it reopened in their new location. It has been a couple years but they used to be down the block before closing for a few years. I had a decent lunch first on the sidewalk. The salad was fresh but the service was snooty. Our dinner last night was better - we had a table of 5 and again sat outside. This time our server was friendly and professional. She heard us wishing one person at our table happy birthday and brought out our desserts with a candle in hers. Well done! The sticky toffee pudding was incredible: warm and salty-sweet with burnt sugar crust on the bottom. Yum! One person at our table got the almond crusted trout and raved about it. The omelet was good, not great. The inside space is nicer than the outside space so go for that if you can. This is 4 1/2 stars. Very good! -

We also order the burger which was a miss, they were dry and a bit burned on the edges. This is the only thing and reason I don’t give 5 starts as we really like the place and probably will come back. -

This restaurant cares about its customers. I have been coming here for 30 years and I am really truly blown away by the continued attention to detail and genuine interest in the satisfaction of their patrons. Joel, the General Manager, specifically was attentive and considerate beyond measure. We had a lovely evening and felt very taken care of. -

Learned about this place from sex and the city like many others and ended up having a pretty good burger. Might be a good idea to make a reservation as it gets crowded. Very satisfied by the staff and food -

Good cocktails. Macaroni gratin, bœuf bourguignon, mussels, fries all outstanding. Excellent peak dinner time with a packed house. -

If you want a quiet dining experience, this is not for you. Food is really good but overall very expensive. Great service, and if you can cope with the noise, it is a great place to eat. It is in the salubrious Meat Packing district in NYC. -

One of the best places to eat well in NYC. If you are looking for a good place, this is the right one. Nice ambient, nice people and nice food. The plates are huge! -

Busy Sunday brunch. But was able to get in. Some of the best onion soup I’ve ever had. French fries were so crispy and paired so well with the steak sandwich. Croque madame was wonderful. Would definitely come back. -

We were regulars at the previous (original location) iteration of Pastis and loved it. It is certainly more popular now for good reason, as it does everything very well. Its expensive (wine especially), but worth it for the experience. Our server - Jay - was very efficient and friendly. -

Pastis is a NYC institution. My husband and I come here frequently, usually when friends or family are visiting us from out of town. The food can be very heavy but unquestionably delicious. I rarely ever order or eat cheeseburgers, but the burger at Pastis is one of my favorite things to eat in general. I do not like brunch with a few small exceptions; Pastis being one of the exceptions. The pancakes are so fluffy and yummy. The French Onion soup is also a must. -

A New York staple that hasn’t lost its charm. Food for everyone, my go to place for any meeting or group of visiting friends. Unbelievable fries and otherwise dependably great food! -

Great experience. Wait staff was attentive with the exception of the busboy, who bussed three unfinished dishes of ours throughout the meal without asking if we were done. Loved the potato leek soup and the steak frites. -

My all time favorite burger in New York; on the pricier side but absolutely worth it, also comes with a literal sea of French fries that are simply delicious. Brunch is also great -

A beautiful restaurant with delicious food. The artichoke appetizer was amazing, as was the French onion soup. The best cheeseburger was the best burger I’ve ever had. Great cocktail selection. Highly recommend all around and will definitely return! -

Great ambience indoor and outdoors. One of my fav brunch places. The Eggs Norwegian was scrumptious, perfectly poached eggs with lots of salmon. The side of potatoes was great too.The Gruyere Omelete was bit salty but yummy nonetheless. Filling and much bigger than it looksPork Sausage was so big and plump and savory!!Nicely brewed coffee. The waitress who served us was very sweet and swift. Food here is always consistent and the prices are great for the portions. -

Delightful in every way. The minute we walked through the door we knew we would love it. The people at the host station were welcoming and courteous. The food is delicious. I had onion soup and sardines. Both outstanding. The special butter with the sardines is incredible. My wife had the trout and she thought is was delicious. Our server, Jacques, was so informative, professional and attentive. He’s the best server I’ve ever had and I dine at many Michelin star places all over the world. I will definitely return many times and bring all of my friends. -

2nd time coming here, both times the food was phenomenal. I want to give this restaurant 5 stars but my service was bad this second time around. Waiter was not attentive and was nowhere to be found. He did not bring bread to the table until asked. Had to ask another waiter for the check after sitting there for 30 minutes finished -

Y’all… I finally found the holy grail of avocado toast and it’s at Pastis! Granted, they call it the Avocado Tartine, but it’s toast all the same. 😎Why is it the holy grail?Because I’m pretty sure they used an ENTIRE avocado! No skimping here. Just tons of chunky, smooth, delicious avocado on a soft ‘n hearty piece of bread. Don’t forget the two perfectly poached eggs. It was perfection. The vibe here is pure Parisian. The hostesses were stylish and the waitstaff cute. The coffee was good. My only minor complaint is the Pain au Chocolat tasted like it was a day old, but it was still delicious. -

Fantastic fresh bistro. The burger & fires is what a Big Mac wishes it was. Steak frites was cooked perfectly. Could have gone without the spinach but needed some veggies. Toffee cake dessert was to die for. -

Super tasty food. Very friendly and helpful staff. Vibe is nice but TOO loud (my Apple Watch kept sending me notifications that sound levels hit 90db), they should probably consider offering people earplugs. Try the mussels, filet steak with pepper sauce and the beetroot salad. -

Hadn’t been in years until last night and was reminded why this place has been around for so many years. It’s not just for tourists. Our server(?) Arnold was an amazing storyteller and made us feel at home. -

Pastis is a New York staple and I’ve been going there for several years. It was was our first time in the new location and Pastis did not disappoint. My friend and I had a great meal at the bar and our dining experience was elevated by the amazing service we received from the Bartender Lorenzo. His knowledge of the menu and wine list were spot on and he was engaging, making us feel welcome. Looking forward to our next dining experience at Pastis. -
