    OK, I think this place is underrated. Ive been there so far a total of three times And each time it gets better hopefully it continues to be that way. The view is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking from the moment that you walk in, youre greeted by a hostess, there is minimal to no weight if you need reservations, which is great. I chose to be seated at the indoor dining room, but I believe theres other areas. The place is surrounded by windows for the most part and you get a beautiful skyline view of the city. The food is absolutely amazing, especially if you like seafood appetizer, you cant miss out on any of them, but especially you love sweet and salty. You must try the whipped ricotta Oysters were some of their popular cocktails, especially the Lychee martini or the pepa bonafè. The trays are honestly really good, we have tried the halibut And the scallops and both were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Our waiter Nick was a GEM. Very attentive, he gave us some drinks to try, I wish I remembered the name, but it was a wine that was heated with a touch of cinnamon and it was so delicious. Definitely coming back and highly suggest.

    Went to Lokal this past weekend with my boyfriend and we had an amazing time. At first there was a hiccup as there was a miscommunication with them thinking that we left, but they made up for it! DJ was the perfect server and was an absolute pleasure to dine with. The food was delicious and the view was absolutely spectacular. We will definitely be coming back again! There is a garage and a parking lot right next to the restaurant for convenient parking!!

    Location is great, right by the water. The vibez are definitely there. I went for brunch and the steak and eggs was amazing 🤌🏼. Drinks were lovely as well as the staff, Thank you Jonah!!Can’t wait to come again but for dinner.

    We visited the Local Eatery and Bar recently and loved the food, drinks and ambience. The best part was the location of the restaurant with amazing night time views of downtown New York City! They have indoor and outdoor seating available. I had the lychee martini that tasted very good but they also had several of their own cocktails that sounded amazing. We shared 4 large plates amongst us - the sea bass, the brick chicken, cauliflower steak and mushroom fettuccine. Although the portion sizes were way smaller than we expected, the dishes were all very tasty. Service was friendly too. The prices are on the higher side but you would expect that from a riverside restaurant with great views in Jersey city.

    Wow! I can only say amazing things about Lokal! I had my wedding welcome party here and worked very closely with Mona, who was absolutely INCREDIBLE! I was so anxious leading up to the wedding and then adding a welcome party only made me more stressed. Mona helped me with everything and made the event planning process a breeze for me! My family and friends absolutely loved the restaurant and its views, but more importantly, they loved the food and the SERVICE! Please make sure everyone that worked this event 4.25.2024 is acknowledged for the great work they did. Lokal and Mona provided a wonderful way to kick off our wedding weekend and we will be forever grateful!

    I was here for a wedding event. The service was phenomenal. Never felt rushed and everyone was kind and helpful.The atmosphere was cozy and cool! We were separated from the actual restaurant but at the same time we experienced the greatness of this establishment.The food was great! I enjoyed the bacon wrapped scallops especially!I enjoyed a little Blantons too!I would definitely recommend this spot!

    What a fantastic experience! Everything about the evening was perfect from the atmosphere of the facility to the well-crafted cocktails to the delicious food to the stellar service. It was the perfect venue for getting together with old friends and reminiscing. We were lucky enough to arrive just before happy hour ended so grabbed some cocktails and olives as well as both the meat and cheese platters which were great. For the meal we shared several small plates of shishito peppers, duck rillettes, and lamb chops. Everything was executed perfectly and to say that the service went above and beyond is a massive understatement and I am extremely grateful for their care and concern for us. Will be visiting this place again and again

    Checked this place out for a birthday dinner my friend planned for me and had the best time! Ambiance was nice and chic-looking with the option of outdoor seating (we decided to sit indoor since it was a bit hot outside). Once we were all seated, our server was attentive and helpful in choosing our cocktails to start off with. I decided to try the Watermelon Sames, which tasted refreshing and perfect for the summer (comes with a watermelon ball)! We also ordered a bunch of appetizers such as the seafood tower, truffle fries, goat cheese croquettes, etc. followed by our entreé, where majority of us ordered the braised short ribs. All tasted amazing and cooked to perfection.Definitely recommend for a celebration! Would also come back to check out their happy hour.

    Just had a fantastic 20th anniversary dinner at Lokal, and will definitely be going back. The staff is so friendly and personable, starting with the hostess and our server, and especially the manager, Shannon, and executive chef, Juliette. The food, drinks, and ambience are top notch, the city views are incomparable. I would highly recommend for a special night out.

    Local is a great addition to the Jersey City waterfront dining scene. It offers good food, stylish decor, and great views of New York City across the Hudson. We had a dinner there with another couple on a clear July night and very much enjoyed their comfortable outdoor seating. Great place to take your out-of-town friends to.

    Great place to come for brunch. Drinks were very delicious. Steak and eggs, chicken and waffles are a must try. The truffle mac and cheese was very tasty - add bacon to it for an even better taste. Desserts 1. Tiramisu and 2. Crème brûlée. Ended the brunch with a great cup of cappuccino. Will be returning for sure. Service was spectacular. Thank you

    Stunning views of NYC with the meal. The charred cauliflower, margherita flatbread, cheese board, and tossed vegetable rice were good vegetarian options. Tastefully done interiors. Great spot for a walk by the water. Free street parking after 7 pm, paid parking lot nearby too. Arrive early for a table of your choice.

    I live right by Lokal and I’d say my preferred way to dine there is for happy hour. They really have a stellar HH deal everyday- otherwise just know that you are paying for the view. It is Manhattan rooftop prices because you truly have a stunning panoramic Manhattan view in a trendy-feeling restaurant. The food and drink are totally acceptable but it’s $23 cocktail energy.Impressive place to bring friends or family - during summer they have awesome patio seating. Staff has always been friendly to our dogs who we’d bring frequently over summer.

    Came here for a Happy Hour and enjoyed the views with $1 Oysters. The oysters were pretty good and we got some apps that were 3 for $30. The Brussels Sprouts and Potatoes Bravas were actually really good with their aioli sauce. The Calamari was crispy and good but I wish I tried another dish since it was basic.The server wasn’t clear about the Happy Hour beer list so I ended up reserving an IPA that was full price. Overall tho good service and we sat on the patio section to enjoy an Incredible view!I will be back for sure and I recommend others to try their happy hour menu too.

    My friend and I came here this evening and have experienced wonderful service! Chef Juliet worked her magic in the kitchen, Shannon was beyond accommodating, and James has a great personality and makes (among other things) a fabulous lychee martini and margarita. Highly recommend this location! If you haven’t tried this restaurant…please rush in!

    Amazing views of New York! The service is great- I would definitely recommend this place for their happy hour, best deal in town. The oysters are very fresh. I would definitely recommend trying their cocktails, very unique. The owner is also very friendly and takes an interest in any customer issues.

    Trendy waterfront restaurant with a good atmosphere and tasty dishes!We went for dinner on a Friday night and booked ahead to guarantee a table of 4.The food and drinks are very well thought out and and aside from being very Instagrammable they all taste great!We had the fish cakes to start which come with a delicious sauce, and then we all had the dry aged burger as mains which were also delicious. To drink we had a variety of cocktails amongst our group of which all of them were well presented and tasted great!Bathrooms are clean and tidy and of course the view of the Freedom Tower is beautiful, especially at night.Dropping one star due to a wait of 15 minutes to be seated, but when we got inside it was around 60% full which didnt make sense to us and, unfortunately our server made us feel like we had to ask for everything and were very much a second thought, since he told us there were bigger tables they were serving at the same time.Otherwise for the vibe, food and drinks it was great!

    A friend of mine and I decided to meet up for brunch and I was looking forward to trying this restaurant. I made reservations for 1pm online. When we arrived I seen the restaurant was right off the water with a beautiful view. We walked in and gave the hostess my name and they sat us. I really liked the decor if the restaurant.Bobbi was our waitress and she was really nice and attentive. For drinks I got a ginger ale and my friend got a mimosa that was $12 by the way. For my entrée I got the lamb burger and my friend got the steak and eggs. The lamb burger looked great but wasnt great. The ketchup did help the taste a bit. My friend enjoyed the steak and eggs. They allowed us to stay a bit longer than the 90 minutes. I had a good experience minus the lamb burger so next time I have to come or dinner.

    Had an amazing time today at Lokal! Super busy, had to wait a little while, but we had some delicious drinks at the bar while we waited.     Loved the food, the ambience and everything in between.Food - The Arancini, eggplant caponata and truffle hand cut fries were perfect and oh so yum! We also ordered the maitake mushrooms and crispy cauliflower. The mushrooms were a little bland for our taste and the cauliflower didnt feel like all the spices were well mixed. Nevertheless it wasnt bad.The cocktails that we had were good as well. I loved the espresso Martini though. Felt like drinking a cold version of the Irish coffee.We had the creme brulee for dessert and it was to die for 😋The service was excellent and everyone that attended to us were warm and welcoming.Special note to the lovely guy in the blue suit (manager maybe?) that came over to ask us twice if our food was okay - if youre reading this - I shouldve given you this feedback in person instead of cutting you off asking for the cheque 😬. Sorry about that! Well definitely be coming back again! 😊

    This is a new place! Anyone ripping on it just has a negative mindset! It has a future but needs to get constructive feedback to make it work! I am giving them 4 stars as I find the most important element of a good new restaurant is their service and focus on feedback!Positives:Service- awesome but amount of times asking if everything is ok was a bit much. When they become busy it won’t be able to be so attentive!View- magnificent and when you can eat outside will even be better! I liked the view even better than charter house in weehawken!Ambience- nice and relaxing. Music was loud enough to enjoy and not loud enough to disrupt your conversation!Drinks: wine selection is good but not out of this world! The Bordeaux was pretty good but I’m really picky so I can’t say out of this world!Negatives:For my wife the beet salad was too cold but it worked for me!Octopus- was again pretty good but not prepared properlyMedallions- absolutely great especially the sauce that compliments it!desert- we had both the chocolate cake with flowers and tiramisu! Both were pretty good for me but too strong for my wife! This part is based on preference/taste buds!Price: 20% about too high for what you are getting as we could of ventured into NYC for actually cheaper! As a local business owner I understand the overhead so I didn’t blink especially with a good server! The price to quality & portion of food ratios however will disappoint the majority of frugal people!I’d recommend this place and we will be back to see how they are improving as they get it off the ground!

    One of my favorite places in Jersey City. The hospitality is amazing and the food is so delicious. They have a new manager now, who is beyond awesome. Leslie made sure that we are enjoying our Valentines dinner and have the best time possible. All staff were very polite, food is very presentable and tasty 🥰

    Jersey City officially opened up one of the swankiest restaurants on their waterfront with magnificent views of Manhattan. Mona Panjwani is the proprietor and visionary of this establishment. After 12 days of having their doors opened, they have built a team of individuals who are personable, approachable and possess a strong sense of ownership. Literally a recipe for prosperity.With sufficient space, Lokal Eatery & Bar can comfortably sit up to 200 customers and is the perfect destination for a rehearsal dinner, trunk show, celebratory engagement and/or corporate gathering. Towards the rear, there’s a semi-private area with its own seating, lounge and sound system to drown out the clutter of what’s taken place in the main arena. “Lokal” murals, perfect for social engagement, are sprinkled throughout the spot which were constructed by a local commissioned artist. Adding an element of youth and elegance similar to its milieu. Overall the architecture and intent of this eclectic eatery have an industrial yet modern feel. Iron gates frame the bar and above the 30-foot island hangs a custom lighting installation.Nestled in the heart of a rising luxury neighborhood within JC, this venue is destined to become one of the area’s most popular draws. Executive Chef, Walter Donadio, has managed to fabricate a tantalizing menu of appetizers, small plates and entrees which are certain to keep you coming back.     If you want to sell your friends on why Jersey City is great, bring them to Lokal.Lokal is the whole package - it has incredible views of the skyline, a great, open dining room, delicious food, great drinks, and beautiful art that matches the Jersey City vibe perfectly. Lokal is fun for anytime of the day and for any occasion, but I especially love their brunch.My brunch recommendation is to split two meals with a friend - one of you get the croque Monsieur, and the other gets shakshuka. Split the croque Monsieur and dip it in the shakshuka. It’s like a grilled cheese dipped in tomato soup but 100x better.

    After a stressful morning trying to get around a marathon and then driving into the city found myself back at the hotel ready to eat googled food near me and this amazing restaurant popped up was greeted at the door by 3 lovely ladies with welcoming smiles( I’m sure I wasn’t smiling after traffic) we was given the option of selecting a table with a view with out a pole blocking honestly anywhere in the restaurant is a sight to see. Ordered food and wine from the happy hour menu was pleasantly surprised how fast the food came out smelled great and hot one of the managers came over I believe her name was Shanon she gave me some encouraging words regarding my stroke which made the food taste even better my thoughts must have been on my forehead because I was feeling a tad bit defeated. Every server smelled amazing like an expensive fragrance. Odd thing to notice but every last one of the servers smelled amazing I was wondering if it was part of the uniform requirement apron pen fragrance. Even the bartender looked outstanding. The food was amazing Brussels sprouts 10/10 short riband mash 10/10 hummus 10/10 the fries 10/10 the rosé 10/10 this restaurant should be the blueprint for other restaurants great work management

    A great spot on the water with a view. They have outdoor seating in a massive bar. We went there with a group of people and the service was very good. We decided to order a bunch of apps for the table and everything that came out was delicious. I will definitely be going back when.

Gravy in the poutine had a wonderful savory flavour with a hint of red wine sourness....delicious. The tacos were fresh and perfectly cooked. Service was a little slow, but not terrible.Would highly recommend this place.

    One of our favorite places for drinks and tapas with a gorgeous city few. We always go for the oysters, grilled octopus, tuna tartar, papas bravas. Drinks are very very good, lychee martini is one of my favorites. The place is modern, has great music and a great vibe overall.     We made a dinner reservation to celebrate our anniversary here and had a very pleasant experience, despite some of the negative reviews on here.We got seated right away and although they didnt give us the window seat that we requested online, the one we had made an even better view of the skyline (before other patrons got seated).The food was on point. We took advantage of the happy hour appetizers and everything was incredible. Brussel sprouts were crispy and packed with flavor. And the $1 oyster special was such a steal because they were super fresh. Not briny tasting at all. Lychee martini was also perfectly sweet and balanced.Main entrees consisted of the short ribs which was tender and flavorful. My husband ordered the steak which was prepare rare as requested. Only gripe is we wish they would offer other sides with that instead of French fries, which was a little disappointing.The service here is excellent - our waiters were super attentive and friendly.     Overall, I would definitely come back. The food was delicious. The chamomile tea and mimosa were delicious as well, and I love that it was tea leaves. I had ordered huevos rancheros with a side of bacon and Im glad I got that bacon. Im not sure if its because of COVID or their plates are naturally that small, but I was still hungry after just the main meal. Ive gone to brunch places with bigger plates, so that was the only negative about the food.Decrease beautiful and music vibes were perfect for Sunday brunch. I love that it was by the water for the scenery. Another negative was that my party of 13 couldnt be seated together due to social distancing yet there were two tables that were back to back and they appeared to be a larger parry than ours. The birthday lady wasnt happy about that, nor was the rest of the party that had to sit away from her, including myself.

    I popped in for happy hour and was very pleasantly surprised. The hostess was welcoming and sat us right away. At least 5 different staff members including the manager touched our table (meaning they made sure our water glasses were full, dirty plates cleared, and checked on us a few times — of course this is expected service but I found the attention from staff to be pretty exceptional). I got a glass of the Malbec and we ordered the cheese plate and some appetizers to share. The papas bravas are delicious! They’re crispy with a little kick from the chili remoulade. Also tried the shishito peppers with garlic aioli, which were okay. I like the aioli they come with because otherwise they were pretty plain. The spiced chicken kebabs were tender and very well seasoned. My only minor complaint would be that the cheese plate should come with more crackers/bread. The view is fantastic, and the ambience is just right. I’ll definitely be back.

    Drinks and happy hour deal is AMAZING! It’s Definitely worth going out with your coworkers or a friend after work. They have a new chef and menu now which is excellent and delicious.     2-10-24 came for Dinner.     Attended an alumni event at Lokal. Appetizers and drinks were very good. The wait staff was attentive but not intrusive. The highlight of the evening is the incredible view of Manhattan from the glass windows inside the restaurant. Terrific location with paid parking options.     I was very impressed with Lokal. Took two friends to check out the newly opened eatery close to me for a late dinner over the weekend. (All three of us travel extensively and are total wine and food snobs :).     The outdoors are dog friendly! We had 3 dogs.Went as a group of 4 on a Sunday evening. The location offers really amazing views of Manhattan.     Rafael made our experience fun, comfortable and exciting. He ensured we had a wonderful time. The food was great and he carried out all our requests patiently. This place is a must visit and do ask for Rafael!

    The server and Shannon, the manager, was quite helpful and attentive. The food, ribeye steak, mushroom fettuccini and spices shrimp dish was absolutely delicious. The lychee martini was among one of the best!

    I really enjoy this place and the view. I have been here for different occasions and celebrations and it really matches with all. In this opportunity, we tried their flat mimosas and caipirinha which were delicious especially the passion fruit mimosa. We had some guac and salmon and it was good as well. Price is fair and attention is great.

    Great views on the patio. Allen Katz was so refreshing. Guacamole was good, but the papadam was a little too thick and hard. Papas bravas and brussel sprouts were really good, but the margherita flatbread is a hard pass. Service was a little lacking, we kept having get the waitress’ attention for water refills and if we wanted to order more.

    This place was stellar. We brought our friend from California here before she flew out. Great location for brunch overlooking the city. It was so nice. Rafael was our server on the patio and he was amazing. So attentive but not intrusive. A great experience.

    Lokal is definitly a picture worthy spot! The food was good, nothing amazing to report on, but still worth a try. The mimosa flight was so much fun, and good! I would come here only for brunch, but avoid the mac and cheese, it had no flavor. Everything else is great!

    Truthfully I would only give the food 3 stars but our server was lovely and the atmosphere/ambiance is in incredible. I would come back just for the pleasure of sitting in such beauty. Yet my lamb was rather dry and not rich in gamey flavor at all. However, I loved the mint sauce, jelly, and harissa trio that really brought out the flavor of the lamb. And the Happy Hour appetizers that are 3 for $19 (while a great bargain)were just so-so. We tried the rock shrimp, fried oysters, and shishito peppers. The peppers were a little too oily and the fried oysters were a little hard. The rock shrimp were decent though...and by far my favourite selection. The raw oysters also lacked...they were a little slimy and not pleasant going down. But the Happy Hour drink prices are on point and I love the cava selection that is apart of that. I will try other things on the menu my next time around.
