I cant rave about this place more. Exceeded expectations.I used a Pulsd voucher and wasnt expecting anything much, but they really went above and beyond. Delicious food, amazing drinks, and what really sold me was the impeccable service. The staff here was incredibly professional, super coordinated, and very friendly. From the host stand, to the bar, to the table- this was a great experience and I hope to come back. -

One of my favorite places near Penn Station. One of my go-to places in the city for lunch meetings; lunch specials are enticingly priced. Their happy hour is from 5-7pm and is absolutely worth the visit! Food is good. Drinks are amazing! I love their passion fruit margaritas. Ambiance is dimly lit, cozy and buzzing. Their staff hits all the hospitality and service marks. Special shout out to GM, Penelope. She is a hands-on leader and definitely a valuable asset to this team!! -

We rented the mezzanine level and it was absolutely perfect! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and restrictions, making the planning process so much smoother. They were incredibly helpful and responsive to all our questions and requests, which we truly appreciated. The small bites and drinks were fantastic—our guests couldn’t stop raving about them! The atmosphere was exactly what we hoped for, creating the perfect setting for a memorable evening. I highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a venue that offers top-notch service and attention to detail. We’ll definitely consider them for future events! -

We had a great experience at Alligator Pear! The ambiance and decor is very nice, and our servers were kind and attentive! We shared the arancini (black truffle and parmesan) as an appetizer, ordered blackened salmon and shrimp alfredo for entrees, and the creme brûlée cheesecake for dessert! Everything was delicious— our only criticism was that the arancini could have used a little more salt. Overall, we had a great dinner experience and would recommend! -

11/10 experience overall, our server Mike was incredible. Not a single dish missed, we got the Aranchini which was rich and delicious, the blue gnocchi and salmon plate. Excellent food and beautiful interior. Downstairs speakeasy is certainly a great addition -

Its my first time trying out this American Restaurant and I had dinner here. The food I ordered tasted really delicious. I highly recommend the crab beignets and Jambalaya rice. Service was great. The dessert was what surprised me. Its a big portion. If youre going, make sure to share. The decor inside the restaurant is nicely designed and it gives a cozy atmosphere and gives off the New Orleans kind of vibe . Cant wait to return and try other food. -

I’ll definitely be back for more pre-game dining and for brunch.grab food that will fill me up and drinks that pack a punch is #AlligatorPear , it’s a quick walk to/from Madison Square Garden (also to the LIRR for us commuters)..I recently dined here with my brother before one of the Rangers games and here’s what we had:- HH Brunson MVP (it’s like a Moscow mule)- Hugo Spritz (much better than an Aperol Spritz)- Specialty Bourbon cocktail (made to order)- Alligator Sausage (so delicious and delicate)- Arancini (yummy & has truffle)- Blackened Salmon (cooked perfectly)- The Spicy Calabrian (not as spicy as expected but absolutely delicious)- 1 Sweet Beignets- 1 Crème Brûleé Cheesecake (my bro loved it).The service was on-point (shout out to our server Michael for helping us decide on what to order and for putting us on to the #HugoSpritz ). That’s totally my new drink of the summer. -
Review 10 (2024-06-08 - Rating: 5)
Solid selection of drinks, albeit on the pricier side; however, its worth noting that the standard prices for cocktails in Manhattan hover around $18 on average. The venue is spacious and, while Ive only visited for drinks, the food presentation looks top-notch. Though I cant personally vouch for the food, it certainly seems well-presented. -
Review 11 (2023-12-06 - Rating: 5)
This restaurant is absolutely stunning and amazing on every level from decor atmosphere to service food and music. I came here with a group for my birthday and was treated so well. as someone who’s been in the bar industry as a bartender for over a decade, the attention to detail was not lost on me, and every single step of the way, I appreciated the way the restaurant was so attentive. The food exceeded all expectations and it was unbelievable how wonderful the cocktails were I can’t recommend this enough and I’m telling all my friends to definitely go here, it’s such a great addition to the New York restaurant and bar scene!! -
Review 12 (2023-11-10 - Rating: 5)
I’ve been seeing this place pop up on my insta feed for the past month and finally caved. My friend and I came for brunch, and Alligator Pear did not disappoint!First things first, when we came, every table had the brunch special, aka a bottle of prosecco and orange juice, which is a great deal for $30! My friend and I downed the whole thing. We got the blue crab beignets to share, which were okay in my opinion. They were nice and crispy, and the powdered sugar and lemon were a nice touch. I feel like I’ve had better though.I got the Florentine Eggs Benedict, which were great! The salad that came with it has a nice, light dressing, and the creamed spinach was just right. My friend got the Cajun Hangover Rice, which she enjoyed as well! The decor for this place is also out of the world. I can definitely see this place being popular for drinks during nighttime, with their beautiful bar and numerous seating areas. Hopefully they have a happy hour in the future! -

We had the most wonderful experience!! as soon as we walked in you feel the Bourbon Street energy in the air and it just invigorates you!! They have live music playing in the place is stunning. You truly feel like you’re in New Orleans. The food is delicious. They have all the classics like beignets and fried alligator as well as many other delicious southern bites. We highly recommend the alligator bites so flavorful. The sass is super nice absolutely 10 out of 10 when it comes to hospitality 🙌🏻🙌🏻 -

Overall rating: 4.6I was initially very excited to try this place out when it opened, but then slowly got concerned it might be overhyped. Nope! It’s a great place. I love how large & diverse it is. I saw dates, afterwork groups, solo hangs, all kinds.I made a reso but definitely wasn’t needed. The space is so large! Admittedly I solely came for the charbroiled oysters… only to learn they only offered them in the summer 😭😭 I was very upset. Things my friend & I ordered:- Grilled alligator sausage: 4/5 eh, good. I guess.- House salad: 5/5, so good!- Between the bed, fried chicken; 4/5 this was cooked well. But not sure if I can say if it was so amazing.- Duck wings: 6/5 sooo tasteful. Highly recommend!- Beignets: 5/5 classic & goodPrice was ~$64ea without drinks. Very pricey! I’m back and forth if it’s worth it. But if you’re considering a date I recommend. I also like that the audience leans a bit older. -
Review 16 (2023-09-22 - Rating: 5)
An absolutely stunning place that plays the best music! The portions are very generous so if youre not that hungry, stick to the appetizers. Id definitely recommend sharing the dessert. Some portions were bigger than the mains! -
Review 17 (2023-08-15 - Rating: 5)
I just received a hard earned raise at work and decided to venture somewhere new to celebrate. I have researched the chef and the inspiration behind the creole heart that is Alligator Pear, and it was no question - this has to be the spot to celebrate my victory!Conveniently located just off of Penn station makes it an advantage point for locals, nomads, and travelers of all kinds. I adore the art deco-influenced interior that makes a statement whether it is for self celebrations like mine, or group gatherings of all kinds.Ernesto was warm, wonderful to talk to, and seriously knows his way around cocktails.Andrew told us how there are additional areas upstairs and VIP and all the opportunities flooded my mind thinking how thoughtful and versatile in the creation of Alligator Pear! Both wonderful people that I hope everyone gets the opportunity to meet and dine with!I ordered the Blue Crab Beignets, Alligator Bites, and a few Rockefeller and Char-broiled oysters.I finished my meal with beignets and Cappuccino. All were outstanding and perfectly paired with my Gin drink (Molly). They make in house their beautiful purple gin and I could not say no to it!Highly recommend for everyone to take a bite out of Alligator Pear! -
Review 18 (2023-10-29 - Rating: 4)
I almost gave this place 3 stars due to the service/server being confused and messing up my order. However the food was very good and I do think I will return so I can hopefully have a better experience. I wanted so badly to try the beignets but they were out. I tried the alligator bites and was underwhelmed HOWEVER I was floored by the creole gnocchi. It was incredibly tender, fresh, the sauce had depth, and it was perfectly cheesy. I also tried the cyclone which was a mocktail and it was very tart and refreshing. The interior is extremely beautiful. This would be a good place for a decently priced date but do expect to pay $19 on average for a cocktail. I’ll be back for the beignets hopefully they won’t be out. I’ll also be back for the charbroiled oysters. -

Hard to find good cajun food in the city. Alligator Pear has been open for about 3 weeks and I feel like it had blown up- for good reason. We couldn’t get a table because the place was packed and they were fully committed but we landed a comfy spot at the bar- made a new friend Andrew the bartender and he gave us solid recs for the cocktails. He showed us around the menu and pointed out his favs.Penelope, hostess with the mostess- hooked us up with the bread pudding.Overall, 10s across the board!I’m coming back with more friends to try more of the Cajun Flare -
Review 20 (2023-09-17 - Rating: 5)
Came in for a late night treat and drinks. Ernesto was behind the bar, super helpful on menu and drink choices. Espresso martini was delicious, and the bread pudding was the perfect match. This place had a good buzz going after midnight -
Review 21 (2023-08-09 - Rating: 5)
Stellar setting- avante garde yet cozy. Spectacular service beginning with the smashing team at the front door! So lovely to see people dressed up and invested in making sure their guests are happy. The smiles were genuine. The welcome warm. Bartender Yared garnished drinks as if he were performing a ballet- or a Japanese tea ceremony. Artistry and lightning speed combined. The cornbread was out of this world!!! I mean I could slather myself with whatever that butter was - perfect texture & flavor! Crab beignets and alligator bites were scrumptious. Overall a fab experience. Glad to see a glamorous new place that is obviously invested in excellence! Go to Alligator Pear- you won’t be disappointed!!! -
Review 22 (2024-01-20 - Rating: 5)
Had a great dinner at Alligator Pear, the food was so good. They have a lot of good vegetarian options. The bartender was incredible. Try the Alligator Hurricane cocktail! the balance of the sweetness on this drink is perfection. -
Review 23 (2023-07-28 - Rating: 4)
Alligator Pear is one of the trendiest spots recently in town and we luckily got a table to give it a try. We were little disappointed that they didn’t have high chairs available but didn’t inform us in advance even though we wrote a note in our reservation. We had Cornbread, Jambalaya, Austin Leslie’s Fried Chicken and Beignet to share. The cornbread was perfect with their sweet brown butter and the jambalaya was soft & moist with various ingredients. The Austin Leslie’s Fried Chciken was juicy with crispy layer. We loved the refreshing chimichiri on top. However, their beignet was very disappointing, not served warm, dry and hard to chew. -
Review 24 (2024-11-13 - Rating: 5)
Delighted I came across Alligator Pear on a random stroll through the city. The drinks, food and vibes were all of the highest standard. Everything was quite simply extraordinary. The hosts and my servers took care of me from the moment I entered to the moment I left. Jane, Cara and Ali (I think) went above and beyond.10/10 will be back for sure! -
Review 25 (2023-09-21 - Rating: 5)

To start, we ordered the Cheese & Charcuterie Board—an excellent choice. For the main dishes, we enjoyed the NY Strip Steak and Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo. Every dish was outstanding, truly the best weve had.The ambiance was beautifully designed—both elegant and relaxing—and the service was absolutely superb. Highly recommended! -

I can not begin to describe how great this place is. From start to finish, from the hosts bartenders, bussers, and servers, the love and care that this team puts into Alligator Pear is evident. I had the pleasure of being served by Michael. Hes a charismatic, attentive, and hardworking person who knows his menu like the back of his hand. ALL of his recommendations were on point, and his honesty and attention were and still are greatly appreciated. I know that it takes a village to run a restaurant, but Michael is like a diamond that should be cherised. I look forward to visiting again and having another magical time at Alligator Pear! Thank you so much! -
Review 28 (2024-08-30 - Rating: 5)
Ambiance, music and food are outstanding! Michael was amazing with his welcoming personality and recommendations! Place exceeded my expectations in every way. Great for a romantic dinner or a drink at the fabulous bar. Gnocchi and stake frites were superb and portions are great! -
Review 29 (2023-08-14 - Rating: 5)
All the best of Nawlins without the sticky floor, the cavernous location has amazing decor, secret rooms galore, mardi gras beads without being cheesy, and some of the best gator bites Ive had in this part of the country. Beverages are fun and original, the cornbread was amazing, authentic gumbo is flavorful, beignets come in a white paper bag -if that doesnt take you back to the Crescent City, I dont know what will. Extremely helpful and friendly staff on all three floors of this establishment. While many arrive here for MSG events, Alligator Pear is the arena you really want to be in. -

We just had dinner at this restaurant and the attention provided by David and the food were superb!!! We enjoyed our dining experience from beginning to end. The arancini and the charcuterie appetizers were delicious. For dinner we had the lamb chops, the steak frites, the lobster diavola and the grill salmon, and all were fantastic. We all loved our dining experience and definitely enjoyed all of David’s attention. -

Didn’t have any food as I was waiting to check in at my hotel across the street. I was expecting to get in and out but I ended up staying wayy longer than I should have. The drinks were fantastic and the service was peak. The manager Penelope was incredibly kind, made you feel like you met her before and Ryan (the bartender) can make a damn good drink. If you’re in midtown, this place merits a stop (if you’ve have a second day, make it two) -

Solid! I took a gamble on a place I never tried before when family popped into town. The food is pretty appealing but not exceptional. I got the bistro burger which was fine, they cooked it to the right temperature which I appreciated. Overall what I really valued was the service which was excellent. I was also able to make a reservation pretty last minute on a Friday night and we got seated immediately. -

Not sure Alligator Pear will ever make the best of NOLA restaurants quiver in their chaps, but its a solid bet for NYC.Gorgeous decor?CheckAmple seating?CheckFriendly staff?Definitely check. Holla to Avery, the nicest server this side of the Dixie! (The cool kids still say Holla, right?)Most importantly, delicious food?Mostly check. Get the Tempura Alligator Bites and Blue Crab Beignets to start. Get the Louisiana Jambalaya (NOLA style, obvi) to continue. And get the NOLA Style Bread Pudding to finish. Skip the Cornbread (too dry and cakey), Mac n Cheese (dull), Mixed Heirloom Tomatoes (too mayo-y), Austin Leslies Fried Chicken (batter not right), and Cousin Ashs Catfish (well-cooked but under-seasoned). And while the dessert Beignets are an obvious nod to the world-famous Cafe du Monde, theyre too small and underwhelming to really hold a candle. -

Alligator Pear is a nice spot in the Midtown Manhattan area to socialize and dine.Atmosphere is low lit, initiate, yet versatile to handle groups, date nights, or a casual night out with friend(s).I was with my friend and the seating was good. The waitress was very accommodating, friendly and professional. She checked with our table regularly. We had the cheese & charcuterie board, Bistro burger, and salad. All were plated well and the meals were satisfactory. Since I was on a non-alcohol diet, I had the Phony Negroni, which tasted similar yet distinct with flavor.Overall: A fine recommend -

Came here for a birthday dinner last week and couldn’t be more pleased with how everything turned out. The restaurant itself is stunning with an interesting layout, great for any type of celebration or gathering! Admittedly it may have been a little to dimly lit for my taste, but the ambiance is lovely nonetheless. Drinks and food menu have a great variety and everything tasted top notch! Our server Matthew was very attentive and made sure we were satisfied throughout the whole dinner, definitely making the experience one I’d never forget. One of my favorite new spots in Midtown, will gladly recommend this place to anyone who’ll listen! -

I’ve never been to an event here that wasn’t great. So when I decided to throw my own event they were so easy to work with. Everyone who came enjoyed the decor, the service and hospitality, and the drinks. I haven’t had the food yet but I hear good things. Would recommend for an event, a friend dinner, or a cute date night. -

Very cool spot that we selected based on reviews and articles we had read. Unfortunately, the city turned off their gas right as we were seated so were unable to dine. Our server and the manager did a fantastic job trying to make up for the lack of hot food, and the salads that we ate were delicious. Looking forward to going back to actually try the full menu! -
Review 68 (2023-09-23 - Rating: 5)
This newly opened restaurant was fantastic. Our server/waitress Cassandra was delightful. I will definitely be returning. The roasted chicken was delicious, the steak was fantastic, the burger was also delicious, French fries were good, the Alligator bites were so flavorful, beignets were so good, and the mashed potatoes were okay. The only thing missing 😪 was mac and cheese. Also, Im not sure if they have a bathroom on the main floor. We went downstairs to use the bathrooms, which were clean and well stocked, but with bad knees, it was a little bit of work coming back up.I will definitely come back because the food and atmosphere were magnificent. -

We had a private event at Alligator Pear and it was amazing! I had come here previously with friends for dinner and had a great time, and this larger scale party was just as wonderful. The events coordinator was incredibly helpful leading up to the day, in terms of answering all our questions and staying in communication with us the whole way. The event itself was awesome! Great space and delicious drinks- a perfect place for an afterparty! Every staff member was attentive, friendly, and took care of every detail seamlessly so we could enjoy our evening. We got so many compliments from our guests about the place. I highly recommend Alligator Pear for either a private event or just a regular dinner out- either way, you wont be disappointed! -

Was just passing through NYC and looking for a place to meet up with friends. I found this on Yelp and am so glad.First impressions, the decor is really lovely. Thumbs to the interior designer. The ambience is so welcoming. We are bar people so we opted to sit at the bar, Ryan was our bartender. Charming and witty with the gift of the Irish banter. He gave us great suggestions, taking into account my annoying MSG allergy. His cocktail suggestions were spot on, and the food also.Ive lived in the south for years and love a good beignet. The Crab beignets here are excellent.I have to add, Im a toilet snob and they were spotless and well stocked.A great evening and experience and I will definitely be back.Tip, ask for Ryan. He made our evening. -

We were visiting NYC as a group, and four of us went here for dinner. Service was very good. Friendly and competent. Our orders were lambchops, salmon, and grilled chicken with alligator sausage and arrancini as starters. All were very tasty, though the sausage was small. The salmon came with potatoes and greens, but I ordered a plate of Brussel spouts on the side. They werent necessary as the meal had enough. A bit spicy (which I liked)Prices were fair for a place like this.Overall, I recommend AlligatorPear. -

Had my birthday dinner here! I had the alligator appetizer and gumbo, we also had some extra potato salad, the carrot dish and I tried some jambalaya. Everything is so good. I wish the portions were bigger but given the absolute quality I wouldn’t want to lose that for a bigger dish. Drinks aren’t very strong but the staff is so kind!! They def make you feel special if you’re celebrating something and I love that. We will definitely be back. :) -

We had dinner here on our last night in NYC and it was wonderful. The food was excellent and the staff were welcoming and also provided great service. And the cost of the meal for the 4 of us with drinks and desert seemed fair. I highly recommend it. -

Fantastic place, I brought a group of 8 and we all loved the vibe, drinks, food, everything. I chose Alligator Pear as a thank you for helping someone out when he really needed it. Cant wait to return. I personally had the salmon, it was fantastic. The fingerling potatoes had like cheese curds as well and were so great. Arancini were super amazing. The Hurricane drink, I had at least 2. Alligator sausage was also very tasty. -

My team at work had an offsite at work and being the most senior NYC resident, I felt the pressure to deliver a high-quality NYC dining experience. Alligator Pear came through in every way. They seated us on time in a cozy nook upstairs decorated with authentic Spanish moss! We ordered a bit of everything to share and the appetizers blew us away: the grilled prawns, the crab beignets, and the alligator bites. Wow! We all proceeded to order mains with intent to share and those continued the trend. I recommend trying the catfish and jambalaya. Out of this world! To top it off, the drink menu provided an authentic Louisiana experience. The Abita Purple Haze Raspberry Lager couldnt have been more tasty and members of the party who selected from the mocktail menu couldnt have been more pleased. What a wonderful experience. Thank you to the welcoming and friendly manager, host, bartender, and waitstaff. We couldnt have received better treatment and it engrained our visit as the teams most memorable experience of the offsite. I will surely dine again in the near future! -

Brand new New Orleans style food restaurant, with beautiful dual level interior, long bar against one wall and a cozy private dining room in the back. There also seems to be private space on the lower level which isnt open yet. Expect beignets, gumbo, fried chicken, jambalaya and char broiled oysters. -

I don’t know many NOLA style restaurants in NYC. That makes this place attractive. What stands out most service and attitude of the staff. There was always a welcoming smile, cheerfulness and the effort to please. My toddler made friends with the serving staff by the time we left.In terms of food, it was just OK.The beignets were great, and so was the cracked wheat risotto. The cocktails didn’t really stand out. Satisfactory, if not stand out. -

Review 97 (2023-10-04 - Rating: 4)
Not sure how but got an email about the opening and it reminded me of southern food. The food is not exactly as it is in NOLA, but close. The menu is not that big, where the drinks menu is on the other side, and absolutely amazing. While the staff was very nice, friendly and accommodating a few things to mention. The food took forever, even a salad. The kitchen screwed up a few things, but once again the staff made sure to make it right. Something else to mention is the spiciness of the food. Yes I am aware that the food is normally spicy, some of it was just to the extreme. While I know better to read the menu very carefully not to end up with food that I cant handle, their menu just didnt have any mentions about some dishes. -
Review 98 (2023-11-13 - Rating: 4)
The food was definitely different from classic NYC but that’s what makes this restaurant so unique! They have NOLA charm and the service reflected that. We ordered a variety of dishes— alligator sausage, cheese beignets, veggie jambalaya, lamp chops (not pictured here), and house and Caesar salads (also not pictured here). All the dishes were incredibly delicious. The starter portion sizes for the sausage and jambalaya were a bit small for shared appetizers. Regardless all the food was so incredibly delicious. The service was on point. The aesthetic of the restaurant was thoughtfully created. The overall ambiance was excellent and intimate. Great date night or dinner spot! Would recommend! -

Fantastic atmosphere with a great vibe . The service and server (Emily) couldnt have been nicer . The food was incredible and delicious. One of the best tuna tartars Ive had.Unfortunately we discovered this restaurant on our last night in New York. We would have loved to returned again and again.Again, Emily was very attentive to us and then Penelope topped off everything for us and created the best ending to our evening in the city.Dont miss out on this gem. Thank you so much Emily and Penelope! -

Lexi was an absolute angel & treated us so well! Nicest person ever, made us feel so welcome. Ambiance was impeccable. There was live music (singer and guitarist playing 80s & top 40 billboard songs with a jazz twist) & the drinks were good but pricey (that’s nyc for you). Get the crab beignets! Yum! The chicken was a little dry - main courses were fine but not mind-blowing. Come for the desserts, drinks, service, & the beignets. Would be a great place for happy hour or a cocktail / meeting up with a friend at the bar after work. -

Review 119 (2023-07-14 - Rating: 5)
This place is great for drinks, date, and even a friend group outing. The food is meant to be ordered to share. The portions arent big (4-5 pieces) so you may have to order two or three plates to share. We had the Austin Leslies fried chicken, Tempura alligator bites, Blue crab beignets, French fries and corn bread. For dessert we had the beignets in powdered sugar. All the entrées were good. My favorite plate was the blue crab beignets. The fries were meh. They were cold and salty. Tasted like McDonalds fries that were left out.Our server was amazing. Gave great recommendations and was super attentive and friendly. While we didnt sit at the bar or have any drinks, we saw some beautiful drinks being made in the spacious bar area. The place is huge. I believe they have two or three bars and even a private room. I will definitely go back and try this place again. -

Atmosphere is upscale NYC chic but unpretentious. Excellent service and amazing food. Server Nancy is the best there is. Very friendly, professional, and attentive to our needs (i.e. celiac, gluten-free). The garden salad was next level for a garden salad. Lamb chops were amazing (and gluten free with mashed potatoes). Bistro Burger (not gluten-free though) is also recommended. Desert wise, gluten free ice cream was available in several flavours (trust me ... go with Italian Espresso). For non-celiacs like my wife, the warm beignets will send you to dessert heaven. -

I had the pleasure of meeting one of the managers and Alex, the bartender, tonight! A really enjoyable experience was curated for me at the bar. I just needed a decompress drink after work, and they totally read me!The wine by the glass is an incredible selection, as an avid wine drinker. I chose the sancerre because I wanted something on the drier end of things, and was not disappointed!Alex is an incredibly personable bartender and understands his clientele. He is knowledgeable and curates a wonderful experience for guests. This spot is a MUST and will recommend to hotel guests at the hotel I work at, I am impressed with the level of service as a bartender! -

A fun atmosphere with great music. It’s lively and loud. Don’t be afraid to sing along with the music. We had a blast! Go with friends and bring more friends.Service- on point. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive. The place was packed when we went, but that didn’t make the service suffer!Lighting- a little more lighting would have been preferred. We couldn’t read our menus and had to use our flashlights on our phones.Food- definitely a flavor of its own. I would say a mix between New Orleans and New York. Alligator bites, crab beignets and oysters were show stoppers!Gumbo was good, but would have been better with rice. I’ve never eaten gumbo without rice???Steak was cooked to perfection. My husband raved about it.Fried fish was good.Jambalaya was the star!!! It’s a flavor on its own. Different from what I’ve ever had, but tasty. Tomato based. The blackened fish was ok. Tasted more like pan cooked fish. It was fresh though. I didn’t see any “blackened “ on the fish.My best advice would be to add more spices. The food was bland. People sitting next to us asked for salt and pepper for their gumbo. Cajun/creole food should have a little kick. That’s what Louisiana food is known for. The food is overpriced for the quality of food.Great attempt at bread pudding and begneits.Drinks were good… really good! -

Review 135 (2024-09-15 - Rating: 4)
It’s a very eye-catching, beautifully decorated restaurant. The dramatic lighting definitely works to create an almost wonderland illusion. The cocktails are well done and tasty. The menu isn’t the largest of menus, but that’s actually a good sign that the cuisine is probably well done…and it is. The restaurant did not disappoint on quality or flavor; everyone at the table really enjoyed their dinners. As a vegetarian, the black bean burger was a great option to discover, and it was very good. Even the apps had options like burrata and arancini, which were both great! The downside of the experience would be service, which is where many restaurants seem to pay less attention for unknown reasons. Our dinner was served literally within a couple of minutes of our appetizers, which was very jarring, and created a suddenly and unnecessarily cluttered table. The bus boy later took away an appetizer that we hadn’t quite finished without asking first, which seems to be something that has become a “standard” in many restaurants, but is very aggravating. However, this was my first time at this restaurant, so that may not be typical for the restaurant as a whole. The other issue was loud music, which is an issue that many restaurants seem to fall victim to. They don’t take into consideration that loud music means people are going to speak louder, which means the noise level in the restaurant gets out of control. That said, the noise level here wasn’t unbearably loud since the music was a calmer genre, but was bordering on it. I know louder music makes the place seem even more exciting, but honestly, people never go to restaurants to listen to the playlist. All in all, this was a nice place with great cuisine, and interesting menu options, so I would certainly consider going back. -

It wasnt what I expected for New Orleans style food. Im a big fan of a fully dressed PoBoy, so when I saw the little round roll, I was a bit disappointed. It was good, but not what I expected.I went for brunch, and I do expect to go back to experience dinner. -

Food was great! Highlight of the visit was definitely Lisa. She was such a lovely host and so kind and friendly. It was my sons first trip to NYC and she made him feel so welcome. -

Hosted my girlfriend’s 30th birthday party here, and Alligator Pear’s staff and event space were equally impressive. The event manager Steph was helpful and responsive, and the restaurant manager and bartenders were friendly and fast. The party went off without a hitch and I would book again in the future. -

This is my go to spot whenever my company needs a semi-private / private gathering. The atmosphere is great, the food is delicious and the hospitality is just out of this world! My colleagues are constantly requesting this venue for events. On a personal note, Steph, Penelope & Gerardo are more than 5-stars. They make the execution process so seamless and the day of, a breeze! -
