Review 1 (2024-10-23 - Rating: 5)
I had heard about this place for a while, and last night, my girlfriend and I finally decided to check it out. As we walked by, we asked about a seat, and the kind doorman informed us there would be a 15-minute wait. He took my phone number and called me as soon as the seats were available—a professional and organized touch that I really appreciated.Once inside, both of us were pleasantly surprised by how charming the space was. The bartender was incredibly professional and creative. There’s no set menu, so we simply described what we were in the mood for, and they crafted two personalized cocktails that were spot-on, 10/10 to our taste. This place truly stands out for its attention to detail, cool atmosphere, and exceptional customer experience. -

Small cozy speakeasy style bar behind a nondescript door on the street - Attaboy doesnt have a drink menu so it completely relies on the creativity and talent of its bartenders and mixologists - who do not disappoint with their grasp of flavours and textures and cocktails.Loved the house music and the overall vibe of the place. -
Review 3 (2024-12-24 - Rating: 5)
A truly excellent place to get drinks. The wait was long to get a table (as expected), but worth it! All our drinks were amazing and the service was 10/10. -

Such a cool experience. From the doorman to the bartender, the vibes were 10/10. Our bartender made us perfect drinks, exactly what we wanted. We can’t wait to come back! -

Awesome speakeasy style cocktail bar in NYC. The drinks and experience never disappoint when youre at Attaboy. This was our first trip to the NYC location, had visited Nashville a few years back and wanted to try the original.Youll need to get there early if you want to get in as theres only 25 seats inside. We got there when they opened and still waited 2.5hrs to get in. The doorman suggested getting there at least an hour and a half before they open for a chance to get in right away.Once inside the vibe is chill with great music and low light ambiance. The bartenders really take the time to listen to what you like and will craft you an out of this world cocktail.Definitely recommend checking it out if youre into great cocktails. Its worth the wait. -

Had a great experience at Attaboy. I am a cocktail nerd, but my wife is not. The served each of us great cocktails that fit our tastes.I was a little bit worried about the no reservations thing. We waited a little bit next door, but the cocktails there were good as well. The hostess and bartenders were great very personable and welcoming to us out of towners.I had high hopes and worried that this wouldn’t live up to my expectations, but it did. I will be back. I had a great time. -
Review 7 (2023-11-13 - Rating: 5)
Very cool experience - the concept is no menu, bespoke cocktails. Figure out what mood you’re in, what spirits you like, how you want it served (on the rocks, up, etc.) and they’ll create a cocktail for you and tell you what it is.Small place though, maybe 3 booths and then bar seating. Probably 25-30 people total. Recommend getting here early, right when they open, especially if you’re a group of more than 2. Speak easy vibes. You just kinda stand and wait outside until someone comes out to get you haha. No need to knock. This was a cool spot.Only downside - no menu means no prices. Cocktails came out to be $28 each after tax and tip which is…steep to say the least. Worth it for a one night experience though. -
Review 8 (2023-11-11 - Rating: 5)
Real speakeasy, custom drinks, unique experience. The staff (bartenders and hostess) were welcoming and seemed cool. The average for 2 rounds of cocktails was 22 (w/out tips and tax). We went 10 minutes before opening on a Monday and it had already a line. -
Review 9 (2024-10-25 - Rating: 4)
After a two-hour wait from 10-12, we began with our first cocktail: a single malt with hints of fruitiness and citrus, aiming for complexity. I’d rate it a 7/10. The alcohol flavor dominated the first sip, with only a faint fruit taste and lacking the anticipated complexity. The second cocktail, a Four Roses Yellow Label whiskey, had a subtle smoky profile paired with the classic sweetness of Four Roses. I’d give it an 8/10. I imagined a hint of cigar smoke on top, which would have elevated the experience. Our final drink was an herbaceous, low-alcohol cocktail—a perfect finish. This was a beautiful blend, earning a 10/10. The first sip offered a refreshing flavor that quickly blossomed into layers of herbal aroma. As the enzymes dissolved the alcohol molecules, a subtle alcohol note emerged, enhancing the drink’s overall harmony.Highly recommend the long-haired gentleman as your bartender—his craftsmanship is superb. -
Review 10 (2024-02-08 - Rating: 5)
Visiting this bar was truly a remarkable experience. Ive been to several cocktail bars all over the world, and the strategy of having no fixed menu doesnt always work out. This is not the case with Attaboy: the staff were excellent at providing recommendations, cocktails were perfectly balanced, and the music was just at the right volume. I am a big fan of spirit-forward, bitter drinks and I had three of them! Each one better than the last. Definitely on my top 5 in NYC. -
Review 11 (2024-05-16 - Rating: 5)
Cute little hidden bar with no menu. The bartender will create something according to your request and its good! The space is very limited but the ambiance is nice and you wont expect it from outside. -
Review 12 (2024-01-09 - Rating: 5)
A wonderful cocktail experience. The lack of a printed menu and the tailoring of each round to your tastes is one of the best innovations in cocktails. The bartenders all have a deep mental library of recipes and can not only find a great drink for you but explain its history and influences. A wonderful time. -
Review 13 (2024-07-27 - Rating: 5)
Great place to drink! So great I met a friend to talk! Amazing experience. -
Review 14 (2024-11-27 - Rating: 4)
Deducted one star due to the fact that they rush you out. Otherwise, very cool concept and delicious drinks. They ask what flavors and spirits you typically like and then create a drink based on what they have seasonally and it somehow always turns out great! I’d only suggest they use less ice in some of the cocktails they make. Friends and I came and we each loved our drinks flavors. The venue is cozy and intimate but some might consider it too small to enjoy. The booths are nice and it’s low lighting. They don’t allow flash photography to maintain the low lit ambiance. Each drink was $22 -
Review 15 (2024-11-13 - Rating: 5)
Worth the hype! Although the wait was long, the bartenders are some of the best in the city. No real menu, just inform the bartender what you want. Definitely would recommend for the vibes and the drinks. -
Review 16 (2023-07-12 - Rating: 5)
What a wonderful little gem, absolutely worth a wait. Walking through the curtain was like dying and going to cocktail heaven; just describe your perfect drink and youll get it. Fruity, sweet & sour; smoky and spicy; traditional & old fashioned; ridiculous frufru tiki drinks, they did it all and they were all the best weve ever had -
Review 17 (2024-04-02 - Rating: 5)
Definitely worth the wait. No menu, you just have a conversation about what your preferences are and they whip up an amazing drink. The neighborhood is a little ruff, so it’s nice to have a few other customers cueing up to wait nearby. -
Review 18 (2023-07-09 - Rating: 4)
It was very good. I got in line abt a half hour before they were supposed to open. I was still Abt 20 ppl back. They started letting ppl in abt 15 min past their opening time. It was rather curt & not exactly hospitable manner in which the line was managed. I had to wait one hour even so to be let in just my party of 1. It was worth it in the end. The drinks were good. Just be nicer whoever runs the door. -
Review 19 (2023-04-11 - Rating: 5)
This is a classic speakeasy with great bartenders. Whatever drink you order will be among the best you’ve ever had. No menu, name it they make it and in some cases they have a variety of different ways and combinations, like with our 3 individually unique “old fashions”. Prices were higher than I expected. Quality over quantity and a great intimate setting. -
Review 20 (2023-01-06 - Rating: 5)
Tip: Come half an hour early to get the first seating, even on the weekdays.Must try: Penicillin - highly complex and perfect pairing with the candied ginger.Vibe is great. Must visit bar in NYC. -
Review 21 (2022-04-16 - Rating: 5)
This was a pretty cool bar. You gotta get there right when it opens or itll be a wait. Even though its a small place you can still have fun and be comfortable ☺They dont have menus. The amazing bartender will make you tasty (and strong) drinks based on what your like and flavo profiles. If I am ever in the area, Id go back for sure. -
Review 22 (2023-05-10 - Rating: 5)
Voted best bar in North America. Expect queues or wait lists to get in as its a small and popular spot, but its worth a visit. Small, cosy and dimly lit, they make drinks to order based on the spirits and flavour profiles you like rather than a conventional cocktail menu, which makes for a more interesting drinking experience. They nailed the brief for me. -
Review 23 (2023-06-12 - Rating: 5)
What a vibe. Dimly lit and intimate spot for custom cocktails. Describe whatever youre feeling and let the bartenders take charge of preparing a good drink for you. Really enjoyed the experience. Logistically, the earlier the better to maximize your chances of getting in. -
Review 24 (2024-05-01 - Rating: 5)
This review is long overdue but now that I am back home in DC I must say the only reason I would return to Nashville would be to visit my guys at Attaboy’s. From my first experience to my final one during my work trip, Greg, Jesse, Matty and JAKE 🫶🏾 have taken THE BEST care of me. They make excellent beverages and always have a wonderful attitude despite being busy or unruly guests. The atmosphere is low candle light and usually a very good playlist. No standing room - which I love - and a monitored front door (yes, they can see you standing outside, just be patient!) by great support staff. Love you boys, keep my seat warm until I get back! -
Review 25 (2024-05-25 - Rating: 5)
This is bar ~30 on the Worlds 50Best list for me and it instantly became one of my favorites. The service is impeccable and the cocktails are truly special. -
Review 26 (2022-01-05 - Rating: 5)
We make it a point to come here each time we are in NYC ! Its been a few years now but still was as good as I remember. The bartenders are always friendly, and welcome ideas as to what type of drink you would like. My favorite this visit were the tiki drinks, but they can make just about anything you dream up! The space is small, so plan to wait for a while. We put our name in, and wait at another local until theres a spot available. Cant wait until next time. -
Review 27 (2023-07-23 - Rating: 5)
All these 1 star reviews are from huffy tourists who are mad they have to wait for one of the best bars in the world.Once you’re inside the bartenders are amazing! Truly world class. But yes you will have to plan ahead and yes wait for a bit. Because yes. This is the best bar you will find.Had 3 of the best cocktails in a row I’ve ever had.Thank you all! -
Review 28 (2023-07-11 - Rating: 4)
I think this experience is VERY good for people who know what they want and know their alcohol. I think I’m a bit less well versed so I was not able to fully appreciate it. I described what I was normally like but the couple of drinks we got were kind of misses, not bad but not great. Maybe not for me especially for the wait but probably better for others who knows what they like and wants to customize their drinks. -
Review 29 (2022-03-25 - Rating: 5)
This is definitely one of the best cocktail bars I know, and I have been to many of them, all over the world. If you are looking for a quiet place, this is not for you, but the atmosphere is great and they know their craft. Classic cocktails are great here and Im sure their signature cocktails are too. Just mind that there can be a long wait on busy days, which is almost everyday. -
Review 30 (2022-12-19 - Rating: 5)
Love the concept of this place and can truly understand why its #22 in the world (should be higher in my opinion) your bartender basically asks what kind of spirits you enjoy and flavors and they craft you a unique drink based on your preferences. And they really came through on every drink, drinks/flavors I wouldnt expect, but punchy and awesome.I love that it is a small intimate spot, with a true speakeasy vibe because of no outside labeling. The one part of the experience that was unfortunate was how to get in. Basically, you wait in a line outside to then get your name/number on a list and you then get called when its your turn. We arrived around 930ish it took us almost 30-40 mins just to be asked our name and number (this could have been easily avoided if the guy running the line just took everyones number in line). We never got called. Luckily we were waiting across the street at another bar and when they closed at 1230 we were like hmm we should just check before going home our wait status. Turns out the guy was just letting people in off the line that didnt have to wait the 2-3 hours like we did. It was really sketchy and I wasnt a fan of that. Also unless youre coming right at opening, good luck coming in here with more than 2 people. They really need to fix their system for admittance. Either require everyone wait in line or something, because clearly it turned sort of arbitrary. -
Review 31 (2021-04-12 - Rating: 5)
One of the best cocktail bars in New York.Penicilin and Paper plane should not be missed. They dont have a menu but will craft a drink to your preference.Only negative is that you cant spend all night here due to the time limit 🥺 -
Review 32 (2023-03-24 - Rating: 5)
Big shout out to the host up-front. She is very patient and does the most to get people in. The bartenders were both very warm and served us right away. Had one of the best mezcal drinks Ive tried. Had a wonderful time time here! -
Review 33 (2024-08-26 - Rating: 5)
This has to be one of the best bars in the world. Amazing drinks, and super nice staff. Dave at the door is a very nice guy, and Zach makes some of the best drinks I’ve ever had in my life -
Review 34 (2024-12-01 - Rating: 5)
World famous for a reason! Excellent execution. Tiny and cozy space. No menu, just have a quick chat with the lads and they get you sorted. Get in line early! -
Review 35 (2018-05-04 - Rating: 5)
No menus. The bartender talks to you about your preference and somehow makes a perfect drink every time. This place isn’t easy to notice so look around for an apartment door with sticker ‘AB’ after you reach the address. The place is small, only has bar, no food. But the ambience is fantastic. and the drinks are really really good. They are the best at what they do. -
Review 36 (2024-11-28 - Rating: 5)
Attaboy is the coolest! I don’t think I ate anything but I loved the drink! The rats welcomed us in! Dave is a sweetheart! Honestly, the drinks are amazing and that’s why I’ll go back! Recommend 💯 -
Review 37 (2022-05-31 - Rating: 5)
This was my 1st time to any cocktail bars in NY! I am so glad I went to Attaboy. Oh man, one of the best cocktails I ever had in my life. You have to guide the server about your taste and they make it accordingly which was a super nice concept. Only thing I would say is they don’t take reservations so you have to go in person and reserve the table. Sometimes it would be tricky to get a table for 1 hour so be prepared! -
Review 38 (2024-07-27 - Rating: 4)
I would recommend telling the bartender what flavors you like rather than what drink you enjoy. -
Review 39 (2023-08-19 - Rating: 5)
This one of a kind place definitely lived up the hype and by all means was worth waiting an hour for. Couldn’t recommend it enough, atmosphere top notch, takes the speakeasy feeling to another level. Drinks were to the point and you can feel the attention to detail in every sip. -
Review 40 (2024-06-04 - Rating: 5)
Well worth the 20 minute wait - Got a spot right next to service bar and lucked out on getting a mixology masterclass from John while talking liqueurs and aperitifs. Great riffs on classics, great ambience, phenomenal service and experience overall. Can’t wait to stop by next time -
Review 41 (2019-01-11 - Rating: 5)
Yes, the entrance is a bit hidden. Yes it is very small and intimate and yes it’s a great spot for cocktails. Cocktails run about $19 each. They are delicious and the staff knows their spirits. The setting is romantic and dimly lit with candles. Small bar and a few booth tables are available. Kind of forget where you are after a while. Loved it. -
Review 42 (2024-07-21 - Rating: 4)
This is quite an experience! There is no menu. You need to describe what you like to the bartender! We all like what we ordered. Try to add to the waitlist at 5 and tell them you want to come back around 8! They are great at accommodating our needs! -
Review 43 (2024-08-01 - Rating: 5)
Got a variant of an mezcal old fashion (with chocolate) and I can say it was the best mezcal old fashion Ive ever had. Bouncer was nice. Place was cute. -
Review 44 (2022-05-20 - Rating: 5)
For sure one of the best cocktails bars I’ve ever attended. The experience was amazing, the bartenders really nice but a little bit overpriced. The fact of not having a menu I really like it it makes you interact in a nice way with the bartender and challenge yourself.I strongly recommend the penicillin -
Review 45 (2023-01-25 - Rating: 5)
Got here about 10min before opening on a Tuesday night and was part of the first seating. I think if you get here any time after 6 you may have to wait a bit longer. The service is great and since there’s no menu the bartender will create a drink for you based on your taste. I told the bartender I liked tequila, mezcal and fruity drinks and he made me an incredible mezcal drink with passion fruit and citrus. I’d love to have it again! -
Review 46 (2017-03-14 - Rating: 4)
A great place for cocktail lovers. Not really a speakeasy since its very loud inside. Space is limited so be prepared to wait for a while. Once you get in, great service and even better cocktails await you! -
Review 47 (2024-04-14 - Rating: 5)
No menu, drinks are all tailored to preferences. However clear patterns of drinks are being dispensed suggesting there is a hidden menu with bartenders customizing the drinks to peoples requests. -
Review 48 (2023-12-02 - Rating: 5)
First time visiting this place and have already marked it down as one of my must stop spots to visit when visiting NYC.Staff was super nice and chatty and the vibe of the space was great!Very much recommend getting there for when it opens because the line was already long when I left.Definitely will be back!!!! -
Review 49 (2022-05-29 - Rating: 5)
Properly deserving of all its accolades. Fantastic experience. Extremely patient wait staff considering the constant line. Knowledgable bartenders who customize each drink for you. Darker, intimate space. As always, remember everyone has off days, check your bias, and consider other palates. -
Review 50 (2019-11-12 - Rating: 5)
Easily the best cocktails I’ve had. These bartenders are at the apex of the craft and this speakeasy is well worth the experience. -
Review 51 (2020-02-17 - Rating: 5)
Took a while to get in but was well worth it. Drinks are entirely custom based on your preferences.Music and low lights keep a great vibe throughout your night. Would recommend to head over with a group of two or four, youll enjoy the recommendations from the bartenders! -
Review 52 (2023-07-15 - Rating: 5)
Amazing little cocktail spot. Very intimate. Reminds me of Japanese bars from Golden Gai in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Just say what you want, notes, bitters, flavors, liquors, and they will deliver. -
Review 53 (2018-03-01 - Rating: 5)
Nicely hidden speakeasy in the LES/Chinatown area. Came here a bit to early and ready to get our drinking game on, we loudly knocked on this unassuming door. Staff nicely poked their head out to inform us to kindly wait till they are open at 6pm.Nice line crowd formed in those long 15mins wait, but was promptly served when opened. The place was packed by 6:30pm, get here early!!Like a true speakeasy, wasn’t brightly lit. It has a cozy feel. Narrow but ample bar seating with 3 booths in the back for a small group. Now to the drinks! They are $18 flat, please noted we didn’t choose anything fancy, all house stuff. There is NO menu, the barista/server came by to ask what we feeling that evening. She gave us so many options to choose from, to be honest I was quite overwhelmed by the option and no menu to reference. Fortunately, we were in good hands. She kindly listened to our preferences and dislike and came back with different cocktails for everyone. Even when two of us had the exact same preferences we received different drinks! Bravo!!Sadly there is no small bits, but Chinatown is right around the corner for quick and cheap eats. -
Review 54 (2024-08-07 - Rating: 5)
First I must say thanks to Santi for letting us in, there were people in queue that dint show in time, so she lets us in, there can a long wait to get in so I appreciate that. This bar is ranked highly, and my expectations were matched. I had a Paper Plane,Bees Kness and a tiki drink that the bartender made with his recommendation. This bar has no menu, so you either know what you want, or ask a recommendation. This is a good way to experience new drinks, as the excellent bartenders will ask you and deliver something that matches your wishes. Out of all the bars I hit in New York this is best, and would definitely recommend. -
Review 55 (2024-12-04 - Rating: 5)
My girlfriend and I recently visited this speakeasy and was a fantastic experience. The intimate and dim lighting yet cozy made a perfect late evening date night. No menu available but that made the experience even better as the bartender ask for our preferences of cocktails we would normally drink and then tailored our drinks that exceeded our expectations. It was just fantastic. And to Chris, you have made our night as it couldn’t have been better, you absolutely killed it with the cocktails you have surprised us with. -
Review 56 (2022-02-04 - Rating: 5)
My favorite bar in the city. Extremely small so be prepared to kill time after putting your name down, but worth the wait in every way. Every drink is custom made for you and 10/10. Pricey, but worth it! -
Review 57 (2020-03-05 - Rating: 5)
There’s no sign out of the door, just trust where google map takes you to. There are only few seats at bar side and two tables behind it, the best solution making you not miss it is definitely get there before it opens! -
Review 58 (2024-09-22 - Rating: 5)
Must be the coolest bar Ive ever been to.If you only have one bar to visit in NYC, make sure its this one. -
Review 59 (2023-08-17 - Rating: 5)
An amazing bar with great drinks. The atmosphere is great and the barkeepers very knowledgeable. Only the waiting time is a downside, we were in the waiting list at 7pm with about 19 people in front of us, and we had to wait until 10pm. I think the wait was worth it, but maybe going earlier is better. All cocktails were 22$ for us, excl. taxes. -
Review 60 (2019-07-29 - Rating: 5)
Was a real experience! This is a hidden gem! Micro bar with amazing cocktails and service. No vodka is served but thats not a bad thing. -
Review 61 (2024-10-02 - Rating: 5)
Went here a few years ago. Obviously part of the fun was finding and knocking on the blank grey door. The very nice host came out and chatted to us while we waited for a space. It was a Saturday night and the people in the place were good fun and my wife and myself really enjoyed the ambience and the crowd. It is very small, but that didnt really factor In to things. My wife isnt a huge drinker, but she loved the cocktails that the barstaff made for her. Stumbling out at 5am and taking the 6am M train back to putnam Ave made us really feel like new yorkers for the day (visiting from Scotland). -
Review 62 (2023-05-27 - Rating: 4)
Small bar but the drink the server were amazing. They don’t take reservations so you have to be there earlier or exactly when it opens or you’ll have to wait up to 3h. I love that you only have to tell them what kinda vibe, or flavor you want for your drink and they will get creative with it. It’s just unexpected and I love my drink. -
Review 63 (2024-08-13 - Rating: 5)
The BEST cocktail bar in the world to me! -
Review 64 (2019-07-12 - Rating: 5)
Great spot for cocktail any time. If you come with a large group, expect to wait for a bit. The waitress was great with recommendations, so trust the staff to steer you right. -
Review 65 (2018-11-14 - Rating: 5)
The bartender here really knew the art of making the perfect drink for whatever you were in the mood for. Refreshing or strong, any spirit you choose could find the way to meet your tastes. -
Review 66 (2024-09-12 - Rating: 4)
If you want to get in make sure to stand in line half an hour before open. We were the last ones let in (we started waiting ~15mins before open and got in ~45mins later) so we just took a standing till where we had a drink each. The drinks were good, sure, but you can also get more creative and more accommodating custom drinks elsewhere so I wouldn’t really say it’s worth waiting longer than you’d do for other bars. -
Review 67 (2024-12-16 - Rating: 5)
Top 25 bar in the world, easily. -
Review 68 (2024-11-16 - Rating: 5)
I absolutely loved Attaboy! The vibe is so cozy and unique, and the cocktails were amazing. The bartenders are super friendly and really know their stuff they made me a drink based on what I like, and it was perfect. Such a great spot for a fun night out. Highly recommend! -
Review 69 (2024-12-01 - Rating: 5)
This spot is one of the most genuine speakeasies around. While the entrance used to be a bit tricky to locate, the exceptional service and overall experience more than made up for it. There’s no cocktail menu here – they craft drinks tailored to your preferences! Each person in our group had unique tastes, and every cocktail was phenomenal. Its a little pricey, but absolutely worth it for a special occasion. We visited on a Sunday and were seated right away as a group of four, but it’s a small space, so booking ahead is probably a smart idea. -
Review 70 (2018-07-11 - Rating: 5)
I am SO excited to review this place. I just wanted to take a peak but the fact that they don’t have a menu and base it off your flavor profile is AMAZING! I am here at 8:30 pm on a Tuesday and there’s still a lot of seats. I’m definitely coming back for more. -
Review 71 (2022-09-09 - Rating: 5)
Recommended by the bartender I trust in Berlin, we went there on a Wednesday evening. And wow, what a great great bar! Inconspicuously located in a residence building, you‘ll wait in front of the door until someone from service comes out and asks for your number. You will then get a text message when there’s a seat available. Once inside we had to wait in the (tiny and narrow) “waiting area“ until we finally got a seat by the bar (which took approx. 20 minutes). We already had our first drink while we were waiting of course. They don’t have a classical drink menu here. Instead, the bartender asks you what spirit you like and what other wishes you have and then makes you a drink they think is right. It was 10/10 for all 5 drinks we had. Just amazing. Great drinks, great atmosphere! Absolute recommendation. The price was $19 for each drink which I consider fair for drinks of that quality (in Sep 2022). -
Review 72 (2017-04-22 - Rating: 4)
I appreciate how the Attaboy owners kept the Milk & Honey space as is. Thankfully, the drinks are just as creative and good, too. If you can get a seat take advantage of it and get two or three drinks and get to know the bartenders because they are pretty chill. -
Review 73 (2019-09-04 - Rating: 4)
A secret spot. You need to ring the doorbell to get inTell Bartender what you like, he will help you make a special drink -
Review 74 (2023-07-12 - Rating: 5)
The concept is interesting: there is no menu, and the bartender will craft a cocktail for you based on what they think you’d like at this moment from a little conversation. The place is very charming. Be ready to wait for a while (more than one hour wait when I went). It’s good to have a little drink in the French bar in front of it while waiting! -

If you don’t know how to read signs or text messages- steer clear!!! If you lack basic spatial reasoning skills or struggle to follow simple instructions- this is not the bar for you!! If you call bartenders mixologists- eh…it’s a tossup. If you want to enjoy some of the best cocktails you’ll ever drink, hit the buzzer and give your number. They have 20-odd seats, expect to wait. Could be half an hour, could be like 2, I think we waited about 1.5- I don’t really remember how long we waited because instead of standing outside we just ducked into one of the thirty other bars on the block until we got the call. This place isn’t trying to be exclusive or trendy, the “hidden bar” thing isn’t even gimmicky here. They’re working with the space they have and aren’t rushing people out of the door after one drink- major props.I love creative and weird cocktails but I’d rather drink out of the dish tank in a dive than visit a cocktail bar full of leather aprons, curly mustaches, and upturned noses. If you can relate- this is your spot.My partner and I have been in the industry for a while and this was hands down our favorite bar experience of all time. Incredibly knowledgeable bartenders, REAL GOOD MUSIC, and totally insane drinks- $20-30 a piece is more than reasonable considering the quality and knowing what goes into pricing cocktails (& love that management has the staff’s back with bad faith reviewers)100/10 shout out to jon and to the door guy who had to explain to someone else out front that accepting a photo of an ID for entry to a bar is, in fact, illegal- you have the patience of a saint -

Really nice spot, the service and experience was great, all the drinks were made very well. It was a very long wait (3.5 hours on a Saturday) but there are some other local spots you can check out while waiting virtually (phone number) -

Some of the best cocktails I have ever had. A typical place without a menu where you describe to a bartender what you like, and they prepare a quirky variation of it. A bit pricey (22$ / cocktail) but totally worth it, will go back. -

Oh man…it’s so good. No menu, dim lighting, no reservations. Just…if you want a real speakeasy come here. The 15 minute call is REAL: be back in 10 minutes to be safe. Enjoy and bring people you want to have a REAL chat with. It’s that kind of place. -
Review 79 (2024-10-26 - Rating: 5)
I didn’t take any photos because it was very dark in there and didn’t want to ruin the ambiance with flash. It was really a cool experience. You come across this grey door that could easily be missed if you don’t look close enough since it is a speakeasy. I knocked on the door and this sweet Irish guy told me he would get me in soon. It is a very small space with limited seating. I came in and was only able to stand against the wall and order a drink through one of the bartenders. It’s really cool to watch them be creative because there’s no menu. You tell them what flavors, spirits and type of drinks you like and the concoct something up right there! It was honestly very impressive. I was able to move into a bar seat once more people left. I came to find out that they have a sister store in Charleston where I live and now I’ll have to go check that out! -

Fantastic drinks at Attaboy. They make things up on the fly, asking questions and figuring out what you like. Highly recommended, and get here early to beat the line. -

Title: Classic Cocktails with a Creative TwistReview:I recently visited Attaboy, a hidden gem in the bustling bar scene, and it’s safe to say that this place certainly lives up to the hype. Nestled unassumingly without signage, this spot demands a keen eye or insider knowledge to be found – a characteristic that adds to its exclusive charm.Upon entry, the ambiance struck a fine balance between understated cool and warmly inviting. The dim lighting and vintage decor set the stage for an evening that promised both relaxation and sophistication. It’s the kind of place where conversations are easy to enjoy without competing with loud music or crowds, a rarity in bars these days. The standout feature of Attaboy is, without a doubt, the personalized cocktail experience. There’s no menu here; instead, the bartenders craft drinks based on your preferences. Its an engaging process that results in tailor-made concoctions, and I was impressed with the bartender’s intuitive grasp of what I would enjoy. Each cocktail I tasted was balanced, innovative, and featured top-notch ingredients.Service was on point - attentive but not overbearing, with bartenders who were as skilled in hospitality as they were in mixology. Their knowledge and passion for their craft shone through in each interaction and recommendation.Im docking a star, however, due to the wait time. Despite arriving early, I found myself standing for a while before getting a seat, as the no-reservations policy means its a bit of a gamble. Moreover, the exclusivity and personalized service come with a higher price tag, which might not be for everyones wallet. In conclusion, Attaboy is a standout establishment for those who appreciate the art of a well-crafted cocktail and prefer a quieter, more intimate bar experience. It’s a 4-star recommendation from me - a place that’s definitely worth a visit, especially for those looking to impress a date or enjoy a drink crafted just for their taste. -

An elite name in the boutique cocktail bar scene, Attaboy never fails us for a great evening with friends. -

Santi the host (+ somehow also the waitress) was phenomenal and provided the best service Ive ever had anywhere – New York or elsewhere. They treat you so well once youre inside! The drinks (cocktails at least, not sure about anything else) are steep at a flat fee of $22 a pop. -
Review 85 (2024-03-08 - Rating: 5)
Incredible no-menu cocktail bar, tell them some tasting notes and they make you a drink. I recommend going on an offnight late for premium seating. -
Review 86 (2023-07-25 - Rating: 5)
Attaboy was delicious but the food and drinks were very expensive for small portions- I think there is better Korean food at much more reasonable price points in NYC. That being said, the cocktails were excellent. We also loved the beef tartare, sunchokes and fried chicken. -

One of the authentic feel speakeasies.. the door used to be harder to find which is the only downside but the service and experience was so good! No cocktail menu.. they just make what you like and make it for you! Everyone in our group liked different things and all the cocktails were insane! Slightly on the expensive side but 100% worth it as a treat! We went on a Sunday and got a table for 4 straight away.. would probably book ahead if you can as its small! -

One of the best speak easy that Ive been to. The waiting timing can be very long but one has to be patient to enjoy their amazing cocktails. Please dont expect a menu as they dont have one :) -

Best cocktail bar in nyc!! Had a lot of good memories with friends here. If you arrive before their opening time during a weekday, you could get in real fast (like in 2hrs) -

Waited for more than 1 hour. Fancy and unique drinks and service from the bartender, told them what you like and they would create special drink for you, no food service. Waiting in front of the entrance is strictly not allowed -
Review 91 (2023-10-01 - Rating: 5)
Wow! We were just wowed by this place! I think the max they allow is a party of 4 since we didn’t see a table that could seat more than that. It’s a small place. Get in line when they open and put your name on the list if you can’t get it. They are very prompt with calling you if you are on the list and be in the area if possible. It might take a few hrs to get the call but once you get in, it’s totally worth it! The vibe, concept and the drink are amazing! -

Great experience, our host at the door was very polite and nice. Zac was our cocktail craftsman. He was awesome. I loved the drinks he made. We were a party of three, and Zac remembered the details of what we liked, and adjusted based on what we wanted in our subsequent drinks. Highly recommended! -

Review 97 (2022-03-16 - Rating: 4)
My brother and I were lucky to snag some seats in this neat speakeasy after our dinner on a weeknight.Inside we found ourselves in a very intimate and quaint spot. The concept was pretty cool in that they dont use menus and create drinks based on the type of alcohol you choose. I opted for a gin cocktail and my brother chose a whiskey cocktail. Each libation packed a punch for sure, however bartenders seemed to only have a basic memorized menu.Overall service was very attentive yet relaxed, and the place did fill up even on a weeknight. Worth visiting at least once. -
Review 98 (2023-09-01 - Rating: 4)
Attaboy was an overall fun and delicious experience, though my party’s expectation was that this bar would be a bit more bespoke per its reputation. We arrived promptly at 5pm and waited in line for about 15 minutes before being sat at what I personally think is the best seat in the house - the alcove area by the front window. The service was outstanding and attentive. You tell your guide what alcohol, vibe, flavor profile, etc. you’re in the mood for and they bring you their creative interpretation. We learned they actually have a menu they draw from rather than extemporaneous cocktail creation (though I imagine this does happen from time to time 🤷🏻♀️.) All cocktails are $22 USD. -
Review 99 (2023-06-13 - Rating: 5)
Attaboy truly deserves all the hype and awards it has earned (and possibly even the price tag). Getting a spot here is tough, the first time we tried, we had to put our number down as they only call back not text but we eventually bailed. This time around we went early and were lucky enough to get a booth table near opening without waiting. The interior gives classic speakeasy vibes with dark lighting and a prominent bar wall of various bottles. Ordering here is an experience itself, instead of a menu you describe the type of drink and liquor you want and the staff does the rest. Because of this everyone in our group loved their drinks.Everything was spot on and tasted delicious. If we had more time we would have stayed longer and ordered more rounds. A must see in NYC! -
Review 100 (2022-05-06 - Rating: 5)
Theres no menu, the bartenders make you whatever matches your mood. -
Review 101 (2024-04-23 - Rating: 5)
THERE IS NO MENU. Writing in all caps for folks who ask first, read second. No menu. Chat with the bartenders (who have all been bartending for a stupidly long time) and tell them what you like. They then present you with a surprise concoction that is exactly what you like, and more. Each one will set you back $24, which is a lot, even for New York. Absolutely worth it for a special occasion or infrequent visit just because. Sit at the bar if you can, and get a lesson in masterful mixology. I ordered something with pisco, berries, and and egg white. He turned around with a Rose Pisco, with strawberries, lemon, and some other fancy stuff I dont remember. My friend asked for the best margarita Ive ever had, because all the ones Ive had have been terrible. A high bar, but achieved nonetheless. The margarita was savory, refreshing, and a tiny bit spicy. Delicious top to bottom. Would love to come again. -
Review 102 (2023-03-24 - Rating: 5)
Truly a great experience. We waited about an hour with six parties ahead of us to get in. They called when our space was available and they made us a custom cocktail based on our taste preferences. The service was excellent and it was worth the wait. -

Review 105 (2018-12-07 - Rating: 5)
Really great place. I had no wait when I went on a weekday right when they opened. The bar staff is very friendly and knowledge and can make you pretty much any drink you can think of. Great atmosphere as well - since everyone is seated theres no pushing or waiting for the bartenders attention. Definitely recommend for going by yourself or a small group to enjoy each others company and good drinks. -
Review 106 (2018-12-15 - Rating: 5)
Cant recommend highly enough. Worth the wait. No menu needed. The bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and amazing at their work. Artists. Went here for my girlfriends birthday and it was amazing. I have a lot of anxiety and it is less crowded and much quieter than most bars I cant handle. Its amazing. -

Review 108 (2019-03-11 - Rating: 5)
Extremely intimate interior, several bar stools and three booths that can sit up to 4 people. No reservations, we waited approx 30-40 minutes and killed time with a drink across the street and kept in touch via text until table was ready. When leaving there was a line forming. The crew there was friendly and brilliant, chatted with us about flavor preference and then came pack with the perfect drink for each of us. A cocktail fans cocktail bar for sure. -
Review 109 (2016-11-02 - Rating: 5)
Really cool speakeasy that was recently ranked #5 on the top list of bars around the world. The bar itself is really cozy with just a few booths and seating at the bar. Youd have to know the exact address to find the bar because the building is really unassuming with no signage. My group went right at opening and we had no trouble getting a booth. The ordering here is a little different because your server will come over to your table to ask about your drink preferences. There is no menu here, but they will be able to decipher your tastes by asking a few questions about your favorite flavors or liquors to use in cocktails. My group of 6 had a variety of tastes and we all were so pleased with our drinks. As a plus, they are all so strong! We followed up our cocktails with a round of beers.I will definitely return when Im next in the neighborhood! -

Cozy little place with extremely knowledgable folks that know your preference better than you know yourself. Trust the folks behind the bar and they will bring you the perfect drink. -
Review 111 (2022-11-08 - Rating: 5)
So I came here in September of last year not knowing anything about the place. An employee of Nowon told me to check it out. Im a bartender back home so I wanted to check out some great bars, and this one was by far my favorite. Sat down and asked for a menu and they said there is none. Just tell me what you like. That was awesome. All 3 drinks I had were perfectly balanced and delicious. This place was overall inspiring to me. Thank you to Attaboy. I cant wait to come back. -
Review 112 (2019-08-02 - Rating: 5)
Detail oriented, yet creative cocktails served in a highly intimate setting. While other New York cocktail bars opt to cram everybody into a small space, Attaboy keeps a limit on those admitted. The result is a much more relaxing drinking experience. This also provides a better ability to open up to strangers. Even if the wait is 2 hours, I highly recommend this spot. -
Review 113 (2021-01-26 - Rating: 5)
Just the best cocktails around. They dont have a menu. You just tell the bartender what spirits/flavors you like and let them do their magic. Ive had more cocktails here than I care to admit and theyve all been different and great. If youre looking for some high quality cocktails this is your spot. -
Review 114 (2022-10-09 - Rating: 5)
Amazing cocktails. A dim old-style bar with a nice bar seating, a few double decker seats at the back and a silhouette of an entry gate. No menus, come with a thought of what liqueurs you like, and ask them to make a special. Cheers. -
Review 115 (2019-08-07 - Rating: 5)
Very good cocktails. Be ready to explain what you want - no menu. -
Review 116 (2017-12-02 - Rating: 5)
Great cocktails in a speakeasy experience, but door is a pain – go early during the week, but skip the weekend. Cocktails are creative but classic – no exotic spices here, but rather quality ingredients, expertly mixed. Tight squeeze, but moody ambience. Worth getting another round, to celebrate getting in. You can watch the security camera from the bar for a voyeuristic thrill ... -
Review 117 (2019-12-17 - Rating: 5)
This is probably one of the best places to get a cocktail in the city. There’s no menu so the bartender comes to your table to ask what you’d like, then comes back with some fantastic drinks to match your taste. They don’t use more than 5 ingredients in their cocktails but can make drinks with complex flavors showing how good they are. -
Review 118 (2023-07-27 - Rating: 5)
It’s a normal street and a normal looking steel door… except for the long line of people, you wouldn’t know that there’s a bar in there where they don’t have a menu. Instead they have a conversation with you about your preferences then they bring something out that tastes delicious; exactly what you wanted (and more)! -
Review 119 (2023-06-08 - Rating: 5)
The Best drinks!!! I was super shocked there was no menu. The mixologist ask for flavor and made a drink and it was spot on!! Everyone was super nice and while it was very fast pace took the time to checkin. Looking forward to going back 😁 -

Small place, only 3 booths and seats at the bar. Great drinks, trust your bartender with recommendations! These are craft cocktails that youll spend around $18 a piece on. Speak easy style place with low warm lighting and good service. You may have to wait outside on the street to go in as space is really limited. -

Bucket list destination as a bartender. So happy I made it there during the summer. People in reviews complaining about wait times— maybe get there earlier ?? -
Review 124 (2019-05-05 - Rating: 5)
To call this a bar would be an insult to its true atmosphere. Knock on the nondescript door to offer your cell phone number and a wait time, then come back later. No menus, just tell the bartender what you like and they craft something that will not disappoint. Hands down the best cocktails I have ever had. This place is really worth the wait and a hidden treasure of Manhattan! -
Review 125 (2017-03-04 - Rating: 4)
Now this is a true speakeasy. I stood out front for about 5 mins trying to figure out how to get in, and where to knock first. The ambiance is awesome, also the music is fitting to the scene. I dont know if theres a menu, the waiter basically asked us what kind of drink we like and then suggested a drink. The cocktail was very good and exactly what I was looking for. I have to say the drinks are a little pricey, I guess youre not just paying for the drinks youre paying for the whole experience. -

Went on a Saturday night with my wife. We put ourselves on the waiting list and we had a call back almost 3 hours later. The waiting was worth it.Excellent cocktails on a great little spot. You need to tell bartenders what you like for them to prepare you drinks (and they really know how to tackle your asks!). It is a bit pricy compared to Mace, Katana Kitten, etc. Probably because there is a lot of demand for a small place. They have a good selection of whiskeys as well (including some not-easy-to-find scotches from Campbelltown). Will try to come back. -

Just got into the #8 Worlds Best Bar, Attaboy! 🙌 I arrived at 6:08 PM and had to join the waiting list, but it was worth the wait. The place is tiny, with only 25 seats, but the mixologists are creative geniuses. They dont have a menu - you can either order a classic cocktail or request a spirit and flavor profile of your choice. My first drink was a mix of gin, fresh lime, orange juice, and cinnamon (plus something else I couldnt quite identify). It tasted like bubblegum and was so interesting! A bit pricey, but the experience was totally worth it. -

I mean…. It’s my favorite bar In the world. I’ve been going here for about a decade and when it changed from milk & honey to attaboy, I loved it even more. I love the staff I love the owners I love everything about it. The cocktails are probably the best in New York if not the United States and the feeling inside is exactly what you want a bar to be. -

Such a great bar. I can’t say enough about our experience there last night. From the doorman, to the amazing bartender Michael, everything about Atta Boy was top notch. The space is small, dark, intimate and cozy. The drinks were stellar. Will definitely be a regular there when we’re in New York. -

This is my favorite cocktail bar in NY. Its difficult to find (knock on an unmarked door), tough to get in (leave your name and theyll give you a call in 1-2 hours when a table opens up), but the drinks are phenomenal and the environment is cool and laid back. -
Review 137 (2016-07-28 - Rating: 5)
I cant say enough wonderful things about this bar. Its small and intimate in the best way- but keep in mind that they cant really accommodate large parties. Plus a large group of drunk kids would totally ruin the vibe. If its a weekend make sure you get there early and put your name on the list. My favorite part is that they dont really have a menu. The bartender asks you what flavors you like and they make a perfectly tailored cocktail to your liking. My friends and I all passed around our one-of-a-kind drinks and agreed that they were all delicious and that we all wanted our own back. It was mixology magic I say! -
Review 138 (2015-11-17 - Rating: 5)
Intimate and cozy cocktail bar. Theres no menu, but youre in good hands with their expert bartenders.Be prepared for long lines on weekends as they only seat a handful of folks at once. Which means its calm and not too crowded inside.
