    Best to make a reservation for dinner as the place gets crowded even on a weekday evening. The Avra chips are really good and so is the calamari. Fish is their speciality but the lamb chops were very nicely done too. Save some space for dessert and get the chocolate cake. Was a great dining experience.

    We’ve been coming to Ava for many years and always have wonderful time here.Decor is gorgeous!This time we went with lunch prix fixe at $38 and it’s the best deal you can find. We added some items with surcharge but it was worth it.I had a special for the day which was branzino. Grilled calamari was cooked perfect. Dessert is nothing special though.Their food quality and service are superb.Definitely coming back when I’m in the city.

    Great place. Lively atmosphere. Gets really busy in the evenings so reservations recommended.The beet salad was really good. I was hesitant about the almond puree but it was amazing. I also had the swordfish which was delish.The drinks were great as well.This is a great spot for Friday after work. Gets really busy for a little cocktail hour.

    Really amazing dinner. The sea bass is just incredible, and the seared tuna was excellent. What is especially nice is the amount of food you get and the bread, you really get fed here. At Milos another seafood place you barely get anything. The cheesecake dessert was excellent. Great selection of wines by the glass - try the burgundy it’s worth it. Great service and kudos to the manager for finding us a seat at the bar.The only question is why this Avra is so good and the one on Sixth Ave so bad? It’s the food….

    Very nice place. I think good for meeting with friends and gather with family. Service was excellent. Food tasteful. Seafood fresh. Cocktails were just average not special. Chocolate cake was well and big portions bc one is enough for two people. Only thing is prices are high maybe due to location yet for the price that they have little overprice.

    What a wonderful find. It was across from our stay @ the Metropolitan and we had a late dinner. We sat outside and it was sooo enjoyable with their heaters. The food & service was wonderful! We enjoyed it so much we went back on Sunday for brunch. Again, wonderful food & service. Fun fact, it’s in the location of the famous NYC Copa Cabana.

    Avra doesn’t miss a beat - all the staff are smiling, restaurant is cozy yet elegant, lunch prix fixe is beyond reasonably priced and so good. Lots of healthy options and hearty options so good for a wide variety of appetites. Complimentary hummus and pita/cracker is super yummy. Pictured are calamari, salmon tartar, branzino, and a breakfast platter for the kid.

    Overall a pretty decent meal, with questionable pricing. The standout dish, bar far, were the lamb chops. They were very well seasoned and delicious. I thought the swordfish was a bit over cooked and could’ve used more acid. And you can definitely pass on the desserts.

    We went for dinner.. I still don’t understand what’s the hype about. I am all about food but I didn’t find anything that stood out for me that I would want to visit them again. We had the beets salad , the classic dip with pita spread, the Greek salad . It was all topFilling as their portion sizes were huge. Finally a halibut grill with spinach rice. The service was good but not great as the waiter was manning many tables I think. We chose to sit outside but the inside area was nice but was noisy. I still don’t know what is that about food that all are raving about.. they are overly priced for what we ordered for sure. Go try if you want to be at one of the happening restaurants.

    It was a surprisingly pleasant new restaurant for me. It is an amazing place. The location, the public, the ambience and design and the space between people and their tables, the menu (a great fusion of Mediterranean with a good kick of Greek and so healthy and delicious food), the wine of the best quality and taste, very nice and helpful staff, fantastic fish and seafood buffet ( all super fresh on the hill of ice), the salads, vegetables and the way of serving food and (attention!) one of the best steaks I have ever had at the restaurant, the soft light and nice music, everybody could talk to each other and hear each other, not scream contest but relaxing restaurant, all these details together made my evening and the dinner I had that night remembered the older times at an European high class restaurant. The impression of 5 stars. I highly recommend to visit this place, I am so sure you will enjoy your experience.

    All the food was really enjoyable. We had the lunch menu it it was fantastic. The branzino was fresh and delicious. Also, the lamb chops were perfectly cooked to medium rare. Staff were very professional and service was on point through the whole meal. Well definitely be back for dinner to enjoy more of the fish or seafood dishes.

    I believe my waitress was named Cella! She was very attentive and asked how I liked each dish. Her kindness made the experience much more enjoyable !Delicious! I had the salmon tartar (if I remember correctly) it was the appetizer that came with the little chips too. A bit salty for my liking but that’s more of a personal preference, it was still enjoyable and the fish was fresh!The lobster pasta is always my go to when I visit and you cannot go wrong with their orange cake and I cannot recommend it enough to pair it with a tea (my recommendation: early grey)

    I can easily say I loved the moment I entered the restaurant until we finished our dishes and left the place! The waiters were very attentive and made sure our dishes were great. I especially loved the interior as it looked luxurious and the seatings did fit along with the ambiance. The 3 course menu was quite reasonable and the corn soup wasnt like the one I expected as it tasted way better with the shrimps. The chicken breast was, however, a little dry and hard. I felt like I needed to bring the tomato with the sauce home with me....it was so delicious!!!     Got the lunch special and it was delicious! Great flavor and texture in the branzino, and we loved the tuna tartare and dips. We didn’t have a reservation but were able to get a seat outdoors. Would definitely come back!

    Had a fantastic dining experience at Avra! Opted for the $38 pre-fixed lunch and wasnt disappointed. Started with the delicious Spreads, followed by a perfectly cooked Branzino, and topped off with a delightful Orange Cake for dessert. The Malbec paired beautifully with the meal. Shoutout to Lindsay at the bar for exceptional service – truly AMAZING! Highly recommend for both quality food and a great atmosphere. #GreatExperience

    I have eaten at other Avra locations, and I can say that consistency is the mainstay. Everything was delicious, especially the salt crusted branzino. Unfortunately, they didnt have Sardines that night, which made me sad...Also, their wine list is pretty well balanced. We had 5 or 6 bottles of a nice white Burgundy and a couple of Argentinian Malbecs.The service is good, like always. This place gets pretty cool the later you go. I would highly recommend trying to get a 9/930pm reservation when the place is busy.

    I am impressed!!! The food was authentic, delicious service was phenomenal. We sat outside in the huts and to my surprise it was a perfect experience. The server made recommendations, told us what to expect and how we should order for the 2 of us. We had a few appetizers which were reminders of greece, then we order a whole fish grilled to perfection on charcoal with some delicious vegetables. The server was very polite and accommodating to us. We ended our night with tea and desserts and they were out the door delicious. My only downfall was I didnt get to eat more food as I was full.

    Lovely place for a good mean with a decent price. They have outdoor seating which is very cute for a date night but very cold for 30⁰. The decor indoors is very simple but beautiful. The space has two floora and is massive.The meal and service was great. Dont let the small drinks fool you they taste great and are very strong. The apps were delicious mushroom soup and calamari. For entrees we had swordfish and bronzino both perfectly cooked. I was not a fan of the chocolate cheesecake but the baklava was delicious.

    Everything about this place is top notch from the hostess to the servers they never disappoint with their 5 star service even walking to the bathroom waiters coming with full hands of plates will give you the right of way the food is incredible the wine is delicious highly recommend for that high class new York dining experience whats better than walking off your incredible meal with a walk through Central Park! Tonight we had the calamari with this incredible basil pesto type sauce and the lobster linguine omg it was incredible! Also nothing beats the hummus platter they bring as your bread basket I am enjoying savoring every taste my entire plate was satisfied!

    Visited New York for the weekend:Aunt works closeby so she surprised me by taking me to Avra!Atmosphere; 5/5Favorite aspect of Avra; 2 floors of seating, seats a LOT of people, yet never felt “loud” or “crowded” in fact, surprisingly never got overwhelmed, despite the large size of the restaurant still felt like an intimate setting. Which is tricky to achieve. Incredible interior design with lots of attention to detail, yet never felt over the top , despite having some over the top design elements like floating fountains. Not sure how they achieved this what would normally be contradictory balance, but super cool they did.Service: 5/5Enjoyed having a very knowledgeable server; knew every dish down to each ingredient and was very helpful. Never felt interrupted or overwhelmed. But was there when we needed them.Food; 4/5Speciality is seafood. Ordered Chilean Sea-bass. Dish was uniquely prepared (I generally prefer no frills seafood) however I enjoyed this unique take on my dish. Portion was “larger than usual” but not overwhelming, with fresh array of ingredients. Not something I would write home about, however combined w the atmosphere made it super memorable and enjoyable experience.I really liked the dinner crowd; despite the number of people felt like locals / home vibe in some sense.Because of the atmosphere alone: would certainly plan to come back with family and friends as there is something for everyone on the menu, and the design of the place is in fact awe inspiring without crossing the tacky line.

    Over all the food is quiet nice , a Turkish waiter attended us who was very friendly and professional at the same time. Very good service.     One of the best Greek meals I have had in Manhattan. Their lunch special is 3 course for $32 and is worth every penny. Ambiance is amazing and service is very good. We tried salmon tartare which was very good as well as spanakopita and grilled calamari. Both were fantastic. For mains we had lavraki (butterflied branzino), fish of the day and swordfish. Lavraki was my favorite followed by swordfish. For dessert we ordered orange cake, baklava and chocolate yoghurt mousse cake. Each was delicious. Will be back for more.

    Avra in UES was where my friends took me for birthday brunch on Oct. 30th Saturday and we loved every minute! The restaurant is a few mins. walk from 5th Avenue, Central Park and The Plaza. This beautiful restaurant has been on my bookmarked list for awhile now and absolutely enjoyed everything they had to offer.First off, they gave us their best table by the window. The hostess was wonderful. And then Tolga was our main server and really attended to us well, greeting me Happy Birthday and telling me that theyll absolutely take good care of us. Really started off our experience the best way. Since we were a big group, Tolga also had some help with 2 other servers and they were all pretty good!We started off with prosecco and cocktails and decided that the lunch prix fixe at $34.50 which came with starters, main course and a dessert was the best deal. I had the grilled octopus for starter (supplement of $14) and it was sooooo good! Ill happily come back for this. Other friends had the calamari and meatball and they were also pretty good! For main course, most of us had the fish and I didnt let the opportunity pass by to have grilled lavraki/branzino. This was fresh, perfectly grilled and simply delicious, topped by some lemon juice. My husband had the lobster pasta (supplement of $17) and it was heavenly as well. For dessert, Tolga and the team offered for us to do like a platter of combined dessert like a sampler of their offerings and they were all delectable, albeit felt expectedly fewer in portions compared to the first 2 courses. The baklava was the standout in that platter so much so that we decided to order another. Later on, we found out that they gave it to us complimentary for my birthday. Thank you, Avra Team! That was wonderful and we felt special, made us realize we want to come back again soon. :)We ended up indulging in a couple more cocktails (theyre a little pricier than usual to be honest) and it was a hefty sum overall, but we really loved the ambiance and service. Shout out to the Avra Team for taking great care of your customers. Already booking for our next one!

    Loved the ambiance Of this restaurant. Waitstaff were always at an arms length and receptive to your dining experience. Being a seafood restaurant we ordered some Chilean sea bass, sashimi and a few sides. Everything was in point except for a side of spinach. No idea how they went wrong there. It was literally steamed and placed in a plate. No flavor. Everything else was fantastic. Their beet salad. Yum!!

    Delicious dinner. I was with a party of 9. We shared appetizers and dessert and also had our own meals. The fish was superb and we also had the tuna and salmon tartare. Even the cocktails were great and so were the after dinner drinks. The staff was very nice and accommodating and served us incredibly all night. They have a nice staff to check your coat and umbrella. I personally had blackened salmon and some vegetables. I would recommend trying the olive oil cake for dessert. It has a lemon taste to it.

    Absolutely loved this place. Recommended by coworker. The Salmon was incredibly fresh and grilled to perfection. Best calamari Ive had in a very long time with excellent dipping options. My coworkers raved about the filet mignon and tuna. Great wine selection, awesome dessert, coffee. Even the tap water was excellent.

    Beautiful, huge restaurant with nice decor and a pretty big menu. As someone who lives in Spain I was floored by the prices, but I guess they’re normal for New York. The fresh shrimp were fantastic, the lobster was so so, and the service was inconsistent. We had to ask more than once for a water. The head of client service was very kind to us. Yummy cocktails and terrace seating.

    This is an upscale Mediterranean restaurant. The service was absolutely perfect. The vibe in the restaurant is chic relaxed. The basement has a more lounge feel to it. Very nice.     While it may not be the easiest to get a reservation, the wait was worth it. We ordered family style, a bunch of dishes to share. Everything came out quick, tasty, and fresh. There was a lot of staff around but we did not feel rushed. The downstairs is more quiet than the upstairs for sitting, and that used to be the old Copacabana room. Lovely interior design and a gem of a place for midtown!

    The service, decor, and food were exceptional. For a large restaurant, the ambiance is warm and welcoming. Plus, the menu was excellent yet unpretentious.I met up with family for dinner on short notice. Its my brother-in-laws favorite restaurant, and he returns again and again with friends and family.We made late reservations, and the staff allowed us to linger past midnight.Its a great place for large and small gatherings.     The food was very good for appetizers we had the sea bass souvlaki, calamari, grilled octopus Greek Dalal and liked green salad tuna carpaccio and tuna tartarFor main dish i had the sea bass.Overall the quality of the food is excellent and the space is very pleasant and modern.Unlike their sister and original restaurant on 48th the service here is very pushy weather the record breaking speed at which they empty a wine bottle or the disingenuous advice when it comes to quantity of food ordered.Again this would have gotten a five start had it not been for the industrial impersonal service.

    Can’t go wrong with the lunch pre fixe menu. Been here on several occasions and nothing disappoints. Wonderful decor. Fantastic service. Exquisite food. The keftedes is a favorite as well as the lobster pasta. The baclava and the chocolate cake are both so rich I don’t know which one to choose (so I bring a friend and we get both). Wonderful date spot as well.

    Fancy place and very expensive! Food is great and service as well! Some plates I think were kind of small. They had this olive oil pound cake which was to die for. Amazing because I felt that my server Michael M was not rushing me, gave solid advice on my queries regarding my choices, and I never felt harried or rushed by him. Only when I had finished completely it was then he passed by for me to ask for the check. At every delivery of food or a drink he checked if all was ok. 100 % for professionalism and attention to detail. When I arrived, the table who were finishing beside me commended him for his professionalism. I know why. The type of person that make the hospitality industry worldwide proud.

    Very pricey but the food is fabulous. My husband was not a fan of the salmon ( said a little dry) but I had the seafood over orzo ( recommended by our waitress who said it tasted like home to her ( Greece)).     This is a very nice restaurant with all the fine touches... from changing your silverware and table cloth between courses to personally being taken to select your own fish to be prepared.     The atmosphere both inside and out was splendid. My party of two was quickly seated and tended to with the bread service and water. We order the calamari, lamb chops, and lobster pasta, as well as multiple drinks. Every dish was tasty and cooked very well, we were very satisfied. The only thing that was lacking was the service after the initial visit. We waited a lot of time to put our initial order and thereafter for refills, which was slightly annoying but we dealt with it as it was during a busy time. After we were done with our meal, we noticed that we our waiter was nowhere to be found and we figured that he may have left and out table given to somebody else. We waited, and waited and waited (almost 45 minutes after our meal) for our check or somebody to come by so we could talk to but nobody came until my husband had to get up and follow somebody to request our check. Overall a good experience, so I will go back, but just a small hiccup in the visit.

But I think my biggest qualm with the food here is the fact that their pita came in the form of chips and not bread. I dislike chips so I think that honestly took away 2 points.     Time goes by and Avra remains Avra... An iconic New York restaurant which stays on the top stair of the perfection podium. I dined here several times and I yet have to have an average experience. Dinners are always perfect from start to finish. The lighting and set up gives an immediate feel of old Europe.The fish is always impeccably grilled and tastes like the Mediterranean sea. The lemon potatoes have gotten better with time and the addition of the baklava ice cream was a wonderful surprise. The custard was a bit overcooked for my taste but some like it that way. The service is friendly but professional as the waiters seem to know the menu in details and genuinely enjoy helping guests. The menu is expensive but for me it is the price to pay to have a zero default experience. Please keep everything the same. We will be back !

    Good food in a great atmosphere.The lunch is a great deal, however service was a little slow and not extremely attentive.Overall I would definitely recommend it for lunch at least.

    Outstanding experience! I give them my outmost recommendation.First, we had a special occasion to celebrate and we highlighted this in our reservation. The receptionist carefully reviewed the reservation notes and seated us accordingly. This definitely elevated the experience from the first moment.The service delivered by the waiters were perfect. I mean it perfect!The food was delicious and relatively the cost was excellent per quality as you would pay more for similar orders at similar level restaurants.To conclude, I would definitely love to come again to this branch. And I definitely recommend it.

    $31 three course lunch is a very good value in NYC. 5 stars for the service, the food and the setting is beautiful like a garden. Salmon over lentils was really good. We enjoyed the comfortable booth. A parking garage is right next door between the restaurant and Central park. Location is the former rouge tomate and the former Copacabana. Everything was very fresh and delicious. A good place to meet for business or to take your parents out.

    As perfect an experience as you could hope for. We were part of a large party of 40. The service was excellent, food served family style was delicious and bountiful. The space downstairs absorbed the sounds of conversations to allow everyone to enjoy each other. A really nice evening.

    Attended a company holiday dinner at this place and it was my first time. It was an amazing family-style restaurant with an electic delicious menu, large portions, great service. Highly recommend it for groups looking to have a night out in the city.

    It’s no surprise that another Tao Group restaurant is well received; however, this one won’t get a fifth star from me despite serving some good Greek cuisine (note that I didn’t say “great”).My standard for Tao is high, so I’m going to be critical where I feel it’s due and that’s in two areas. The first being the unnecessary tightness of seating upstairs during lunch when the entirety of the downstairs is empty (particularly around the entrance, yikes). For the price (I don’t care that lunch is a prefix), I’m not impressed. While the service was on par, I didn’t appreciate being stacked on top of other patrons. It feels like management is trying to squeeze every drop of revenue from every sq ft of space and that’s not the fine dining atmosphere that the Tao Group usually emits.My second issue is the food was inconsistent. A delicious grilled steak sat on my table next to an average “fish of the day.” Simply don’t offer a fish of the day if that’s the best you can do. Even the presentation was lackluster. An amazing baklava, perhaps the best I’ve had, was delivered with a pedantic chocolate-yogurt cheesecake.The nearby competition is too good to not be held to a high standard.Good... maybe very good, but not great.

    Truly a fine dining experience. The food was flavorful, and perfectly executed. We did a prefix family style and the portions were big enough to share. Favorites were Octopus and Bronzino, Avra Chips. Service was very attentive and the place is gorgeous.

    I went to this restaurant during the lunch time, which I recommend making reservations. The interior was lovely, it had nice vibes. I went there to try their octopus which I never had before but someone told it was really good, so I said, why not give it a try. The octopus was my appetizer and it did not disappoint. It was well seasoned and not hard to eat (not too chewy). The main course was a brazing, wish was excellent in flavor and well done. The dessert I had was, baklava, which is my favorite dessert and I am very picky. Though I had better, it was close enough and I give it a thumbs up. I gave it 4 stars because the table was shaky so they had to put something underneath it and also my chair seat was broken. For the amount of money customers spend there, they should have replaced that. Also, we had to keep calling the waitress over or someone to assist us-it was lunch time so we had to make sure we got back to work. I think that is important for restaurants to be mindful of. Otherwise overall, the restaurant was good and I recommend it.
