I’m a grumpy old man. Noisy, active places usually annoy me. But from the chatter of the patrons to the lively playlist, I really like drinking beer here.Great Imperial Stout, “Barrier Half & Half.” Fries crisp and well-seasoned, enough for two people. Lively vibe, dark and cool on a humid summer day. Service super friendly and quick.*second visit, one month later: I got the last dribbles of the only stout on tap, Central Waters “Nitro Puppy.” While disappointed, I was delighted to discover that they have a huge cooler of canned options, which included 6 Porter/Stout options. The French fries were great. Again. -

The atmosphere of the store is like a gangster!! And even the beer and food taste the best!!! Highly recommended! The bathroom is clean, independent, and safe. And above all, the owner is very kind! If you come near here, definitely come.👍🏻👍🏻 -

Highly recommend this neighborhood jaunt (does not at all feel like you’re blocks from Times Square). Beer is great, food great, and vibes are immaculate. We greatly enjoyed the bratwurst and chicken sandwich and hope to return again soon. The staff were also class acts. -
Review 4 (2023-05-20 - Rating: 5)
Great craft beer served in an intimate setting with knowledgeable staff. They have a good selection of high quality beer on tap as well as a more extensive selection of canned beer. Came here on a Friday around 8pm and the place was fairly empty, but filled up by the time we left at around 9:30pm. Staff is friendly, beer is awesome -

Beer Culture is one of my favorite bars in NYC. A haven from the madness of midtown, this intimate neighborhood haunt boasts an amazing craft beer selection (with 16 taps and an extensive variety of cans available in the fridge to stay or to-go). I also delight in the fact that next to the big fridge there is a basic fridge with basic beers for those with basic needs. And I mean this with the utmost respect as sometimes you just really need a good old miller high life instead of a fancy beer.Be aware that this bar has a strict beer and whiskey only policy, but their selection of both is on point. The bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and happy to provide recommendations. Theyre also fun to chat with.Ive tried most of the menu but my favorite item hands down is their cheese curds. Also of note are the bratwurst, pretzel, tater tots, and wings. There are three televisions around the bar that play local sports or classic films at low or no volume. Nothing is ever crazy loud so its a great place to catch up and chat with friends. We love to pop in before a play or post-show as its in the heart of the theatre district. In addition to beer, whiskey, and bar fare, they sell some pretty awesome merch (not embarrassed to say I sport some of their hats around town- their wool hat is my most favorite and warm winter hat).So if you havent gotten the message from my long winded review … Beer Culture is a 10/10 in my book. -
Review 6 (2024-09-11 - Rating: 5)
Stop what you’re doing and re-route yourself to this place immediately if you like beer, bratwurst and burgers. The brat is prepared locally and served on and served on a delicious, fresh and toasted to perfection baguette with grainy mustard and a generous portion of kraut. Truly the best brat I’ve had outside of the Midwest. The menu prices do not reflect the high quality of food here, and I’m shocked they aren’t charging more. Absolutely delicious and I can’t wait to come back.Had we not devoured our food so quickly I would’ve taken a picture. -
Review 7 (2024-12-18 - Rating: 5)
Awesome little bar that’s separated from all the hustle and bustle of Times Square. Came in for some beer and a pretzel and was not disappointed. Good prices and friendly bartenders, check it out if you’re in the area. -
Review 8 (2023-12-23 - Rating: 5)
Cozy beer hall full of merriment and great selection of local and eccentric craft beers. Crispy tater tots and brats with kraut and quality mustard. Friendly, welcoming bartender and an at-home vibe. -

Review 10 (2020-11-13 - Rating: 5)
Stopped here on a spur of the moment decision after a Broadway play, and this spot is a hidden gem, its not very big and a bit hidden but delightful never the less. Their beer variety was really great. Id say more than 30 beer selections. These two were amazing. Will definitely be returning to try the wings 😁😁😁 -

Fun dive bar. Great service. We did not have food this time. -
Review 12 (2023-01-25 - Rating: 5)
This was a great spot. We spent a few hours just hanging out between shows. There is a great selection of craft beer. The food was simple but tasty. Even though you are in the heart of Manhattan it feels like you are at your neighborhood bar. -
Review 13 (2019-11-08 - Rating: 5)
Great little spot for a few beer and a bite to eat. Great beer selection on draft and 6 fridges full of cans. Service was quick and friendly. What else do you need... -
Review 14 (2024-06-17 - Rating: 5)
Im giving them 5 stars because their name is BEER Culture and they have a great selection of beers! Also on the Sunday evening we visited the place was relatively unbusy and frankly was a bit of respite from the craziness that can be NYC. The smash burgers were reportedly good, but frankly the flat bread was sub-par with a bread that was way too tough. In contrast the smash burger buns reportedly were quite good. Normally I wouldnt give 5 stars with a flat bread like that but youre hopefully coming here for the beer, not the flat bread, and for that they definitely get 5 stars. -
Review 15 (2020-01-17 - Rating: 4)
Great craft beers on tap and awesome selection of cans and bottles to take or drink there. Chili is awesome too, almost Anixter between chili and Brunswick stew. -
Review 16 (2024-03-02 - Rating: 4)
Went in for drinks and food, settled for drinks and found food elsewhere. They had a good selection of tap beers and lots of unusual cans and bottles in the cooler. -
Review 17 (2023-02-09 - Rating: 5)
Nice selection of beers on tap and available by the can. Close walk from the theaters. -
Review 18 (2023-12-22 - Rating: 5)
As a tourist, it was refreshing to find this spot. The staff were friendly and engaging, making us feel like locals. They have a good beer selection and we got bar pies and hummus/pita bread. It looked like most people were getting burgers. The patrons also had a fun energy so it was a great place to stop for our family to grab a drink and something to eat on a chilly evening. -
Review 19 (2019-04-13 - Rating: 5)
Incredible selection of beers from around the world. Friendly staff and a relaxed environment. So pleased we stumbled across it just a few steps form the bustle of Times Square. -

An excellent bar with a range of beers available, located very near Broadway and Times Square. -
Review 22 (2024-03-24 - Rating: 5)
A hidden gem near Times Square! This spot has dive bar vibes (meant in the best way possible), a killer beer selection including a wall of cans/bottles that you can take to-go or enjoy at the bar. A must-visit for a beer lover looking to enjoy a craft beer and escape the tourists in Times Square! -
Review 23 (2018-09-23 - Rating: 5)
Small but varied list of beers on tap. Also several glass front coolers with a wide variety of things cans, mostly regional micros Knowledgeable bar staff cozy vibe - fairly small. Great burger and tots... -
Review 24 (2024-03-22 - Rating: 5)
Everything you want from a local beer bar. Great variety, cool stuff not found regularly, chill vibe. Food was pretty good, along with the great beers!Second review after multiple visits. This place is all I can ask for in a beer bar. Brats, Pretzels, amazing beer. Every time I come to the city, I stop by and I love it. Google won’t let me review it again, but I love this place. Cheers to anyone who stops by and finds this absolute gem. -

What great place! Friendly staff, huge selection of beer. Small friendly place in a big city! -
Review 29 (2023-04-15 - Rating: 5)
Haven in an otherwise manic, touristy area. Despite its midtown location, it has a really homely, local feel whilst still being welcoming to visitors.Great selection of beer, super tasty food (at relatively cheap prices - get the wings) and a very friendly bartender (my man with glasses and a ponytail) -
Review 30 (2017-09-24 - Rating: 4)
Cool little spot with tons of craft beers on tap and a huge selection of bottles. They only serve beer and whiskey so you know theyre serious about what theyve got. -
Review 31 (2022-08-08 - Rating: 5)

Review 37 (2023-06-29 - Rating: 5)
Beer selection was great. Loads of craft beers. Huge selection in the fridges. Bar staff were friendly and were helpful if you wanted help choosing. Had some sports showing on a couple of screens, but no volume which was perfectly fine if you wanted a quiet beer post lunch. -
Review 38 (2023-02-05 - Rating: 4)
One of the best soft pretzel in NYC. Go for the jalapeño cheese dipping sauce. Lots of beer and some cider choices. I recommend the cinnamon pear cider. Famous for their beer and whiskey only policy and they won’t disappoint. Definitely worth a visit. -
Review 39 (2017-07-01 - Rating: 4)
Great little beer bar and store. They have around a dozen things on tap and lots of stuff bottled. Just grab something from the fridge and enjoy! -

Review 46 (2019-11-19 - Rating: 5)
Great, chilled out bar in the middle of Hell’s Kitchen. Wide selection of beer in their fridges going from east to west coast. Imports in bottles and cans are in the back. They change up what they have on tap regularly and have something for everybody. Bar food is pretty good as well. Bartenders are also friendly and attentive. Can get quite crowded on Thursday-Saturday nights since it is a smaller space. Would definitely recommend. -
Review 47 (2017-05-20 - Rating: 4)
This is one of my favorite stops when visiting NYC. Very friendly place. The craft beer selection on tap is pretty short but their bottle selection is much larger and offers more variety. Beer on tap is good and fresh, and the food is really good too. They used to have a larger/better bottle selection but maybe I caught them short on this visit. -
Review 48 (2020-03-02 - Rating: 5)
Cool bar located downtown. It works a little different than any other place I have been too, which was really cool. You can select one of the cans (of which there are MANY) and have the bartender pop it open for you. They also have some good beer on tap and considering the selection, you will definitely find something (or many things) you like. It cleared out pretty good around dinner time on a Saturday which was nice, and all the staff we amazing and provided great suggestions. Next time we are in NYC, we will make sure to come back! -
Review 49 (2022-10-22 - Rating: 5)
Nice small craft beer pub. 16 taps and plenty of cans. Some good pub food as well. -
Review 50 (2019-10-23 - Rating: 5)
Great spot if you are interested in craft beer. Have a wide selection of draft beer, and an even larger selection of cans and bottles in the cooler. If you cant find it here, you probably will have a hard time finding it anywhere in Manhattan. Friendly staff are willing to give you recommendations, which is nice when the selection is this varied. -
Review 51 (2024-09-21 - Rating: 5)
Arrived at my hotel early and stopped here for a drink before check in. Amazing beer selection! Great service! -
Review 52 (2022-06-13 - Rating: 5)
Really nice spot hidden away right in the middle of Times Square. Surprisingly chilled considering. Good draft selection, friendly barstaff, and tasty food which the staff sorted even after the kitchen closed. Will definitely come back. -

Review 57 (2018-10-14 - Rating: 5)
Great selection of bottles and cans, and a well curated (although not super large) draft list. Bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable about their beers. A good selection of whiskey as well. Didnt try the food, but it looked good. -
Review 58 (2022-09-19 - Rating: 5)
Was looking for a nice beer spot near our hotel and we were not disappointed!! Great selection of beer!! Ended up closing the place down drinking and talking with the great bartender! Sorry friend, can’t remember your name but can’t forget the big red beard! -
Review 59 (2022-11-23 - Rating: 4)
Interesting mix of beers and clientele. You wont hear many bar stories of 55 old men proclaiming the best thing of their new 12 month relationship being the communication (were doomed in old age!) -
Review 60 (2021-09-29 - Rating: 4)
This place is close to Times Square new york. This place has lovely vibes where you can enjoy a drink or two with your office colleague or friends on the way back home. They have good variety of craft beer. -
Review 61 (2017-12-02 - Rating: 4)
Great service and enormous quantity and quality beers, great location. -
Review 62 (2017-09-29 - Rating: 5)
Good, friendly and safe atmosphere. Snd great beers to boot. The draft selections are great but the two industrial fridges filled with domestics and importeds are the reason to come. Bartenders are laid back but attentive. Considering the neighborhood, this is also a nice hideaway. -
Review 63 (2024-02-27 - Rating: 5)
Mercch is cool, the beer is better, the food is the best, the bartender seems to have super powers handling a full room with no wait to get an order in. A+ -
Review 64 (2017-07-11 - Rating: 5)

Review 66 (2024-08-30 - Rating: 5)
Music and film of the venue from the 90s. Bourbon selection was satisfactory, served us well before our play, 20% surcharge when paying with credit card so pay cash. -
Review 67 (2019-07-27 - Rating: 4)
Popped in here between Harry Potter performances. Great little pub with some great New York beers. I had a Chicago dog as well. I recommend this place over many of the tourist traps around Broadway. -
Review 68 (2019-03-26 - Rating: 5)
Great local-feeling bar steps from the hustle of Times Square. Awesome service, great beer, and simple but delicious foods. Truly a unicorn in the midst of New York. Also, you can buy beer to-go, but stick around for a few and meet some fellow locals and travelers. -
Review 69 (2024-09-26 - Rating: 5)
Friendly knowledgeable staff, nice crowd, great beer selection. A+++ -
Review 70 (2018-06-24 - Rating: 4)
Fun selection in the big fridges toward the back. AC was on full-blast the last time I visited which was a pleasant surprise - it had been noticeably warm in there my visit prior. I might expect more on tap from a bar called beer culture, but theres probably something for everyone. -
Review 71 (2023-03-06 - Rating: 5)
Great beer, great atmosphere! Bo is the man! -
Review 72 (2015-07-24 - Rating: 5)

Review 74 (2024-07-06 - Rating: 5)
I had such a splendid time visiting. Evan was amazing. He made sure his guests were accommodated well, and made sure everyone was taken care of, and enjoying themselves. -
Review 75 (2015-07-06 - Rating: 4)
I downgraded this place to a 4 after they got rid of a few fridges to open up seating space. They still have a really nice selection of beers, but it was significantly better before. I just saw that Transmitter brewed a beer just for Beer Culture (BC1), but I dislike the move away from bottle shop and toward bar. -
Review 76 (2020-04-10 - Rating: 5)
I visited on March 3 2020. I was walking back to the hotel from Times Square. It was raining and the New York fire department was working on a building across the street. I came in when the rain started coming down. We had nachos. This place is a safe and sanitary place to visit. Keep in mind the virus was spreading. They kept me safe. -
Review 77 (2024-03-12 - Rating: 5)
The burgers were phenomenal. Definitely a good dive-style bar. -
Review 78 (2020-03-02 - Rating: 5)
First off, let me just say, this place is fking awesome. They have a great selection of beer on tap or in the fridge. Stopped by early in the day last Friday and again after we saw Book of Mormon. Simply put, I definitely had too much fun here and felt the consequences the next morning. We were able to get our hands on some King Sue and Pseudo Sue, which was a big highlight of this weekend trip. -
Review 79 (2024-09-01 - Rating: 5)
Great chill place for a pint and break from the crowds -
Review 80 (2018-06-23 - Rating: 5)
Good beer. The place says no vodka, no gin ... no bitchen, only beer and whiskey. Im sold. The Beer and whiskey is out of this world. I had good stouts, Porters and whiskey that taste incredible. Just try, you wont be disappointed, even if you only drink vodka or something like that. -

Review 89 (2019-06-26 - Rating: 4)
Good selection of brew on tap, many more by the bottle/can. Friendly staff. Whiskey if you want hard liquor (no vodka, rum, gin, etc). Mostly local crowd. Check the black board for current offers. -
Review 90 (2019-12-01 - Rating: 4)
Great spot to explore the local and not so local (Great Notion) 👀 craft beer. My only advice is I wish they served beer in the NEIPAs and stouts in snifters. -

If you are a beer lover than i think you may have found your oasis. Also did I mention that they have USB plugs all over the bar so you can always charge any device. This is now in my top 10 bars of NYCDeff if you are in the area you have to check it out. -
