One of the most iconic speakeasy-style bars in the city. They were doing it before it became a hipster craze. You enter through an unassuming door at the back of the barbershop. Inside is quite roomy compared to other hidden bars in the city. It’s a bit less pretentious than most too, which I personally prefer. Overall a cool place to visit for a cocktail if you’re in the area.

Blind Barber is a speak easy type bar behind a barber shop. Inside, theres about a dozen tables or so. The bar is stocked well, with happy hour between 6-9. The music playing is great, the pours are kind of heavy, and prices arent too bad. As the night goes on, theres a younger crowd that rolls in to dance. Overall a great experience and would recommend coming in for a drink if youre in the neighborhood.

Cool speak easy place in NY! Although the city never sleeps we were here on Wednesday evening after catching a Broadway show but it was pretty empty so that ruined the experience. But seems like a very cool place when crowded! The entrance is through the barbershop 💈

  • Review 4 (2024-12-28 - Rating: 5)

You should visit during the awkward times between Christmas and the new year because the bar is empty but they still have the best music❤️ really enjoyed our time here!

  • Review 5 (2024-09-10 - Rating: 5)

It was a cool place for an after party. The DJs were good and the crowd was cool. Definitely younger crowd and drinks were solid.

  • Review 6 (2024-06-10 - Rating: 5)

The actual venue I walked right past it lol. That truly makes for a great speakeasy right? It really is pretty inconspicuous if youre not paying attention. The blind barber is actually a barber shop for real, but cross functions as a speakeasy. The images speak for themselves. It is such a cool atmosphere and great time once you get past the barber shop ;)

  • Review 7 (2018-04-30 - Rating: 4)

Great pub . An old speak easy that looks and is a barbers at front but inside behind large sliding doors is a great atmosphere

  • Review 8 (2024-03-03 - Rating: 5)

I have been to the BB many of nights loaded off the Tequila Sodas, as it is one of the best places to go out and activate in the East Village. It is also a true speakeasy, not one of them fake speakeasies. Y’all know what I’m talkin about. Great date night spot during the week too fellas…But the real reason I’m writing this review is because the culmination of my lifes work happened here on Thursday night. I was able to accept my 2023 Yelp Rookie of the Year Award. WE DID IT MOMMA! I DONE IT FOR US!Early mornings and long nights at the keyboard paid off. Swiping my credit card to try a new place to review when I had food at home finally paid off. Telling my friends “sorry I can’t go to the club tonight, I got a dream to chase” paid off.My heart, my mind, and my soul have gone into writing these reviews. My big bros actually sat me down one day to have an intervention saying something along the lines of:We are worried about you lil cuzzo all you do is write Yelp Reviews... I think youve lost your mind a bit... You were at 9th street espresso for 11 hours yesterday lil cuzzo...I just sat back, looked them dead in the eyes, and told them:Youre right. I have lost my mind doing this. Like Vincent van Gogh. He dedicated his life to his art and lost his mind in the process. Thats happened to me. But f--k it.When that 5 inch tall plastic trophy is my hands, when I have more random Yelp trinkets than I know what to do with, when I can chirp everyone elses food opinions by asking them how many Yelpies they have, when my Kids’ Kids can facetiously ask their little friends in Kindergarten Wait, how many Yelpies does your Grandpa have?... then it will pay. Then Ill be happy I lost my mind.MANHATTAN BEACH!!!!! THIS IS FOR YOU!!!!!!!!! AND MY MOMMA I LOVE YOU MOMMA!!!!!!!!What a great Yelp Elite event though, drinks were amazing and Johnnie Walker was hosting it. Yelp is on a HEATER this year with these events. They cant miss in 2024!IG @jnov_Tiktok @jnov_reviews

This is one of the best bars Ive ever been to in my life and I travel 20+ times a year all over the world. Amazing music ✔️ Vibes ✔️ Monica the bartender✔️✔️✔️The kindest staff that handles a drunken crowd with such grace and compassion, delicious drinks (try the strawberry drink which is the best thing Ive ever had at a dive bar)and the most fun music! Monica should run the place because she absolutely makes the experience with her energy and bartending.

  • Review 10 (2022-11-21 - Rating: 5)

Oh this is a pretty fun spot. Makes me feel like were going to a secret speakeasy. They play some nice jams. They had a live DJ playing sounds from the early 2000s and some current sounds when I was there. The crowd was a pretty cool mixture of 20 somethings and early 30s. Thats how I remembered it anyway. Drinks werent too bad. Reasonably priced around $10 to $15. Honestly it gets a little blurry but I had a good time. 🎉🥳🥳🥳

  • Review 11 (2021-12-25 - Rating: 4)

Great for the mid to late 20s - early 30s crowd. Dance and drink with friends.Does get packed, not for those who like a space from others. The bartenders are awesome. Best whiskey sour I have ever had. I normally find them too sour.

  • Review 12 (2019-05-02 - Rating: 5)

Not a review for the shop itself, but for the bar in the back room. A fun speakeasy to go to at night! One of the major plusses is you can actually still go to this one without making a reservation weeks in advance, unlike some other popular places in the area. And it’s not that expensive drink wise for what it is, one of the cheaper speakeasy options in the area as well. Plus it’s loads of fun!

  • Review 13 (2022-04-10 - Rating: 5)

This place is one of the best night out places ever. The bartenders are really great, the place is usually crowded and the prices are pretty average for NYC. The location is also great. And the music? it’s one of the best. Always playing hit rap and pop songs.

  • Review 14 (2019-12-27 - Rating: 5)

The place is great. Speakeasy bar with a barbershop in front and then you can enter the bar through the back door. Best old fashioned i have tried in Manhattan. Loved the vibe of the place. Bartender was awesome, skilled, and bilingual which I liked, (Thanks JC) our drinks were right on point, and he made us feel welcomed and appreciated. Will definitely come back. Nice spot

  • Review 15 (2019-12-08 - Rating: 4)

Good drinks but the music was so loud that we had to scream into each others ears to have a conversation. The music selection was great but I would t recommend it if youre looking for a chill bar to catch up with your friends at.

  • Review 16 (2022-10-15 - Rating: 4)

Interesting concept for a speakeasy bar. The cocktails are decent but could be more elaborate. The space could also be well suited for a medium-to-large group.

  • Review 17 (2023-05-13 - Rating: 4)

This place was a vibe. You enter into a barber shop that turns into a bar/club. The music was good and it was a good time. For the amount of people that was there, it was really cramped. 4/5 stars

  • Review 18 (2022-08-18 - Rating: 5)

Nice place you can get a cut and a drink nice place for men to let there hair down

  • Review 19 (2024-10-17 - Rating: 4)

    Good spot different type crowd

  • Review 20 (2017-12-26 - Rating: 4)

Great for the late night dancing experience in East Village. The people here are all in it to have a good time, and in no ways pretentious. The DJs here are awesome and can really get the people grooving. Also, the cocktails here are on point and the staff looks according to their theme, a barber shop.

  • Review 21 (2015-08-19 - Rating: 4)

Probably one of the cooler speakeasy bars Ive been to in the city. The cocktails are solid. It is really a barber shop during day and bar at night. The velvet rope for exclusivity is a bit much. Would be 5 stars, if they didnt have a velvet rope exclusive feel at the entrance around 10pm.

  • Review 22 (2019-10-27 - Rating: 5)

Super cool bar. Everything about this place was nice. Bar tender Teg (definitely spelled it wrong) was super chill and took care if my cousin and I.

  • Review 23 (2018-06-28 - Rating: 4)

Feeling a drink? Go to “Blind Barber” maybe a haircut on the way out. Happy hour cocktails are $10.

  • Review 24 (2013-03-26 - Rating: 5)

I love the speakeasy-ness of the Blind Barber. Theres a working barbershop in the front! Ive only been to parties there but theyve all been amazing. The bartenders are fun and more than capable. The diversity of cocktails are great and strong enough to have you stay within your budget. Take some friends and make a night of it.

  • Review 25 (2023-09-04 - Rating: 4)

Cute cocktails and atmosphere though on the weekend it can get a bit too packed!

  • Review 26 (2020-01-08 - Rating: 4)

Wouldn’t really call it a speakeasy as it’s very obvious where the bar is located... besides that, good atmosphere all night long and interesting drink selection. Though it’s definitely on the pricey side.

  • Review 27 (2021-08-03 - Rating: 4)

Very cool , speakeasy drinks are a tad pricey, kool spot to dance and chill, not a spot i recommend for drinks, gets expensive very fast. Parking in the area is tough , especially on weekends

  • Review 28 (2022-09-30 - Rating: 4)

Cool spot to unwind. Cocktails are good here. Kinda hard to get in for guys during the weekends, but what can do you do ? This is NYC.

  • Review 29 (2013-12-04 - Rating: 5)

Blind Barber is probably one of my favorite bars to take out-of-towners. Why?1.) You enter through the back wall of a barber shop. Wah?? your guests will say. Youre so cool! your guests will exclaim and forever hold you in the highest ranks of cooldom.2.) Its the easiest speakeasy to get into. You want to get a party of 5 into PDT? Dont make me laugh.3.) The drinks are good and speakeasy priced. Dont bother coming here if all you want is a vodka soda. Girl please, if you want to cut down on the calories, dont go for the halal cart at the end of the night.4.) You like a chill intimate place? Come early. You want something a little more popping? Come later when the place becomes packed. Theres a little something for everyone.

  • Review 30 (2016-05-30 - Rating: 4)

Drinks were delicious and the music was actually good and had me dancing through the night. At one point there was a touch too much techno for my blood

  • Review 31 (2019-03-22 - Rating: 5)

This review is for the barbershop only.Service has always been stellar and attentive without being stuffy. Alex is great. Its pretty no frills which is great for me. Go in, drink a beer, get your haircut, leave.

  • Review 32 (2017-01-19 - Rating: 5)

Great drinks, secret place. Beautiful environment.

  • Review 33 (2017-11-07 - Rating: 5)

Fun and chilled. Drinks were much cheaper than other bars and there was plenty of space. A pleasant surprise!

  • Review 34 (2021-10-17 - Rating: 4)

The batman was good. Strawberry one is ok. They have a lot of space but for some reason not a lot of seats, just standing space.

  • Review 35 (2015-11-07 - Rating: 5)

The greatest behind the scenes during Fashion Week, but you better have your VIP Card or you wont make it past the door...Great Mixologist behind the bar!💯

  • Review 36 (2015-09-12 - Rating: 4)

One of the speakeasies thats more crowded than you want it to be, became very difficult to move inside. The plus side is that its not just sitting around but theres quite a bit of dancing.

  • Review 37 (2018-04-09 - Rating: 5)

Must try speakeasy in the LES. Pricy in comparison to other speakeasies, but great atmosphere.

  • Review 38 (2017-04-17 - Rating: 4)

The exterior definitely creates a speakeasy feel that is really clandestine and mysterious! Great cocktails and specialty drinks.

  • Review 39 (2017-05-12 - Rating: 5)

Dylan is excellent. Hes a really cool guy to talk to and did a fantastic job in my hair. Plus, having the bad in the back is huge benefit.

  • Review 40 (2024-07-08 - Rating: 5)

    Great cut and awesome music!

  • Review 41 (2016-10-31 - Rating: 4)

Rustic look modern service (good bartender). Music is cool, DJ gives off good vibes and very original speak easy style.

  • Review 42 (2017-06-18 - Rating: 4)

Bar can be hard to find at night but its a neat idea having to walk through a barber shop to get to the bar. Great atmosphere but a bit small

  • Review 43 (2018-06-12 - Rating: 5)

Julian gave a great experience.. I’m a barber from Atlanta and had to check this place out.. welcomed in with a nice glass of Old Fashioned.. get seated in the chair and had some fun conversation and relaxing jazz playing on the speakers.. one of the other barbers did me a favor by taking a picture to capture this relaxing moment.. definitely will be visiting here again when I’m in town.. Great old school feel!

  • Review 44 (2021-08-01 - Rating: 5)

Eli was wonderful, he gave me a really beautiful fade. The facility was safe, clean, & covid-precautions were in place.

  • Review 45 (2019-07-06 - Rating: 5)

Review of the barber shop. Best haircut hands down. Dylan was super talented and professional. Came in from the hot sun overheating a bit and he made me feel accepted and comfortable the whole time that I could relax and let my worries go in the barber chair. I got probably the best cut off my life so I now know the hype. Worth every penny, even got a refreshing cerveza in the back while I waited. This shop is legit and I can see why Bryce Harper partners with them. 11/10 recommend.

  • Review 46 (2024-03-10 - Rating: 5)

I have been getting my hair cut by Jeremy for several years now. After mixed experiences and some very bad experiences at other place, I’m happy to say I will never go anywhere else. I speaks volumes to be able to say you trust you barber, especially when you have slightly complicated, mixed hair. Jeremy is the best of the best, worth every penny, and is a great person. I always look forward to my appointments with him.

  • Review 47 (2019-07-28 - Rating: 5)

After relocating to NY, I cycled through 5 barbers and hairdressers before finding *my* barber at Blind Barber. The location is swanky and bougie (in the basement of a Barney’s) but the service and prices are down to earth. I’ve come back here to my barber 5+ times and have always been able to book a chair in the early evening. I recommend! 💇‍♂️

  • Review 48 (2024-05-13 - Rating: 5)

A vibe (the speak easy) Vic Mensa was there and Dixon! Seems like this is the spot to be if you want to hang out with industry and underground people.

  • Review 49 (2020-07-03 - Rating: 5)

Barber review: awesome haircut with a reasonable (slightly premium) pricing. During COVID theyre taking sensible precautions (everyone in masks and eye covering, no shaves) but its good that theyre open and following guidelines. Bookings are required and theyve allowing extra time between cuts. Sadly, no drinks from the speakeasy at the back, but its still worth it to support a cool venture like this.

  • Review 50 (2018-04-14 - Rating: 5)

Show the staff a picture or describe what you want and they will do you right. Even the bald barbers can cut hair like beasts. Not overly priced at around $30 for a mens cut. You can find cheaper but you pay for what you get.

  • Review 51 (2013-11-24 - Rating: 4)

Great haircut, and great price (for the village). Staff was friendly, professional, and non-annoying. Cant speak to the bar/restaurant in the back, but I definitely recommend the barbershop up front.

  • Review 52 (2019-03-24 - Rating: 4)

    Classy

  • Review 53 (2024-03-17 - Rating: 5)

Place is amazing, sometimes they have the best DJ in East village, but sometimes it kinda sucks. Some of the single guys here are insufferable and shove their way to the middle where they spread out and bump into everyone. That being said it was incredible and they do have cute guys too

  • Review 54 (2019-04-26 - Rating: 5)

Pssst, follow me through this secret door to a promise land of confident craft drinks.

  • Review 60 (2017-04-30 - Rating: 4)

Great bar a few years ago. The crowd is changing a bit here.

  • Review 61 (2015-02-17 - Rating: 4)

How to get in: The facade of this bar is a barber shop. You enter through the barber shop, get ID’d, told the rules, get oriented with the exits and bathrooms, and let in into the dimly lit bar at the back.

  • Review 62 (2019-01-15 - Rating: 5)

Such a cool hidden bar! It is a bit Frat-isj at times but its overall fun!

  • Review 63 (2018-03-27 - Rating: 5)

Went on a Friday night - there was a 20 minute line at 12 that thinned by 1230. Very crowded inside with lots of dancing. Would go back.

  • Review 64 (2019-11-19 - Rating: 5)

Great atmosphere, very clean, affordable haircut and shave, quick service and awesome people! Highly recommended!

  • Review 65 (2024-03-01 - Rating: 5)

Came here via a promotional event that featured Johnnie Walker. Ptheres something about cold weather and the seeming warmth of quality drinks that is timeless and a comforting feeling. a busy event of custom cocktails via the elixir experts utilizing Johnnie Walker in each of the three signature cocktails: the Lychee Highball, The Johnnie Jett, and the Earl Grey Old Fashion. all were well-made cocktails but the winner in my book was the Johnnie Jett-- the smooth & booziness of Johnnie Walker plus the kick of citrusy Aperol. who knew Johnnie Walker Black Label --a Scotch Whisky--worked so well in a mixed drink? though the bar was teeming with people...the bartenders hit the mark and put out an insane amount of drinks during the event while chatting with us. a fun night of revelry and chatter to make a mundane night memorable.

  • Review 66 (2019-07-11 - Rating: 5)

Went to the bar around 10/11 on a Friday night and there was no line (I say that because once we left, there was a very long line). As you may imagine, its behind the barber shop so you enter through there. We were greeted by 2 lively hosts and were stamped and let in. It was super crowded but we jetted to the bar as quickly as we could. Asked for a tequila drink and a rum drink - bartenders choice - and both were yummy!Music was mostly 90s and 00s r&b and pop throwbacks which we loved! A lot of drunk, young annoying people there too but didnt bother us much when they werent spilling drinks.Id go back but not top of the list

Really good hidden club in the heart of east village!

  • Review 95 (2015-11-12 - Rating: 4)

Blind Barber is an experience - a very decent bar and restaurant, with the real emphasis on a good blend of classic and modern mens barbering. The fixed rate deal (drink + haircut) is pretty good - and it certainly makes waiting for your appointment a lot easier. The bar selection is expansive for a barber shop, and comparable, if not better to the bars in the area. Generally positive experience with barbers; efficient and competent. Overall, would recommend it as a novelty experience, and certainly an option for long-term hair care if youre willing to schedule for enough in advance. Blind Barber has certainly done a good job of advertising and promoting, and it is quite well known - this means the staff is pretty professional, but also it is almost always relatively crowded.

  • Review 100 (2021-06-07 - Rating: 5)

They have absolutely delicious cocktails, the epitome of a Speak Easy and its a great date spot! Its pretty empty during the week, but I tend to like that more as it creates a more intimate setting.

  • Review 101 (2018-08-20 - Rating: 5)

Cool bar/lounge, with great vibes but nothing too hyper. A great change of pace from the big clubs located in Meat Packing. In addition it has a “secret” entrance which is nice simply because its something different.

  • Review 107 (2016-06-09 - Rating: 4)

The place had a really cool vibe. Its cool to see a bar tucked away so damn well. Drinks are a little on the pricy side, even for the happy hour special though. With its laid back atmosphere, this is a great place to sit back and chat with friends.

Cool place, nice atmosphere, good music, they play a bunch of classics, gets tight inside which is great, and too much light. Young, even college, crew though, which was a but if a throw off for us.

Speakeasy entrance works well. But too big inside for a Wednesday night >> felt really empty and killed the mood. Good drinks

Unique, hidden...super dark and can get crowded

Got a hair cut and beard trim with Jeremy last weekend, his attention to detail and the overall experience was well worth the price. I cant recommend a barber shop more strongly, definitely my go to from now on!

Good cocktails, but you really want to go here when its pumping. Ive been when it as heaving and it was great - then went when late on a week night when it was pretty quiet - it doesnt have the atmosphere to have a quiet drink and chill out at.

  • Review 130 (2015-12-29 - Rating: 4)

Very nice atmosphere. Warm and comfy. Cocktails are great. Drinks are a little expensive but normal for this area.

This place is behind the barber shop on 10th st. Good cocktails and a great place to take your friends if they want to experience a new york speakeasy. Try to go in early since the place gets crowded after 10pm

Fun concept, great staff. Came in as a walk in and was able to get a hair cut as soon as 30 min after walking in, had a complementary drink that comes with the cut while I was waiting.
