Sophisticated atmospherePleasant and timely serviceWell prepared/High quality foodVisually appealing dishesWe went again just the other night….three months later from our first review. This place never gets old. The food is….simply put….” a feast for a king!”Update (Feb 19, 2023): not one thing has changed…great to see Boulud Sud continues to maintain a standard of excellence and hit it out of the park once again -

What a lovely place! Open dining room with a bar and an open kitchen. No kitchen smells and smoke. The service is outstanding from the hostess, to the sommelier, our waitress (you can’t even call it that more like the person that makes sure you have a great evening) and other staff that help make our visit pleasant. We ate the pre theater meal and there is something for every taste. Everyone knew I have food allergies and paid attention to avoid those foods.A most delicious three course meal that left nothing to be desired. We’ll done! -

Beautiful restaurant for upscale Mediterranean food.We got the mezze platter which had delicious babagnoush and falafel (a bit salty though). Lamb flatbread was ok and so was the duck. The sea bass pleasantly surprised us!Overall great service and atmosphere! -

Easily one of the most enjoyable dining experiences in the city, warm and buzzing atmosphere with above and beyond staff. A more casual take compared to Daniel, but no sacrifice at all in quality and delivery of creative and delicious food. Very impressed on how composed each dish was despite seeming simple by description! Desserts were excellent and highly unique. Would recommend to anyone looking for an upscale yet down to earth meal. -

Wonderful experience from start to finish. The service is great and the staff are attentive. The drinks and dishes were all delicious. The flavor profiles are well defined and not overpowering. I will most definitely be open to trying other dishes next time I am there. Restaurant week just got them another future customer. -

While visiting in NYC, I went in to Boulud Sud after being very disappointed with my hotel restaurant. I was greeted graciously and even though I complained that it was too warm in the ‘outside area’ they quickly moved me inside, continuing to be friendly and accommodating. All wait stuff were professional and polite throughout the evening. I was served an exceptional Manhattan cocktail. I started with the beautiful green salad with pears, walnuts and blue cheese, served with fresh French bread. Greens were fresh and the dressing was perfect; light, tart and just the right amount. I continued with a charcuterie platter which is their specialty, with dry salami, pate, ham and various delicious tidbits. Everything was excellent. A wonderful country style bread was served with the charcuterie platter. Ambiance was lovely, tasteful, with light jazz that was not too loud. Overall experience was outstanding. -

The special I had, rye flour pasta with razer clams, was very good. I heard reports from the table that other dishes were a bit boring. Overall delicious food though.Big open dining room with modern decor. My only real complaint was that the service was slow. Dinner shouldnt take 2.5 hours. -

Probably the nicest restaurant Ive eaten in. Food and service excellent.Read how the head chef started off clearing tables etc.I will never forget our wine waiter who was from Burkina Faso. An utter gent he wanted to work hard and get on in life.It is nearly 6 years since my visit but Im revisiting as I often wonder how he is getting on and how the restaurant is doing. -

I was here with a friend during restaurant week on Jan 27th 2022This was our first time to visit Boulud Sud. We love it!Both of us believe that we will come back someday for sure. The service was just as good as the taste of the food, and the ambiance of the restaurant was fabulous. What I ordered was lamb, but sorry I forgot the name. Though I still remember how it tasted like. It was tender and had absolutely no gamy flavor at all. Delicious! My friend ordered CHERMOULA GRILLED MEDITERRANEAN SEA BASS. It was so tasty as well.Dessert was the chocolate one. No doubt, it was sweet enough not too much. Was great.Meanwhile, the bread they provided as a starter was warm at the right temperature and soft as well.Have to say both the waiter and waitress who helped our table were very patience and so professional. We love them!Thank you so much for those who read until here. Hope this review can help you guys.Enjoy~~~ -
Review 10 (2018-11-22 - Rating: 4)
The service and food is fantastic and it would have gotten five stars if it werent for the ambiance. The music selection was terrible and there needs to be some sound absorbing panels or fabric used. -
Review 11 (2023-11-15 - Rating: 5)
I really enjoyed my meal here. The service was outstanding and the food was top notch. I had the shrimp appetizer, the shrimp were not to overcooked as they frequently are in this type of dish because of the heated oil. I had the Mediterranean sea bass which was outstanding! Extremely tasty well put together dish. Lastly I had the anise cream dessert which I really enjoyed but probably wouldnt get again. There were some other very tasty sounding options. Unfortunately I cant eat grapefruit right now because the grapefruit one looked the best! I would highly recommend this place. -

I came with my husband a couple of times before and this restaurant NEVER disappoints! I have the crudo and the sole and they were both fantastic. The costumer service is impeccable. Cant wait to go there again! -
Review 13 (2018-09-17 - Rating: 5)
Excellent meal at the bar! Pasta is 50% off at the bar after 9 pm. I had the octopus starter and pasta carbonara...both were delicious! I love Daniel Bouluds restaurants and this was excellent. -
Review 14 (2020-03-07 - Rating: 5)
Photo shown is of dessert: Grapefruit Givre! A very original dessert, unique presentation. A sorbet with shreds of halfa on top, delicious! Main meal was a fixed price 3 course serving. It was a salad, chicken (Moroccan) and dessert. Excellent service. Modern and clean, a bit noisier but wonderful. -
Review 15 (2023-08-17 - Rating: 5)
Had an absolutely amazing experience dining here. We chose the restaurant week menu. 3-course meal with a good selection for each of the course, some with an extra few bucks. We had the lamb and sea bass for the main course and they were so delicious. I honestly think it’s the best sea bass dish I’ve tasted in a long time. With the restaurant week menu, there is also a sommelier’s pick wine for 39 dollars a bottle. The white wine is quite pleasant. The servers are very attentive and the ambience is lovely.I’ve done restaurant week for a handful of times and this is easily one of best. -
Review 16 (2018-06-10 - Rating: 5)
Amazing food and excellent service. I just moved into the area and I love how I am treated here. The grilled octopus is my absolute favorite dish. The prices are also great. -

We dined here during restaurant week. The restaurant features an open dining room with a bar and an open kitchen. Great airy atmosphere. The service was outstanding! We had the restaurant week 3-course menuand it was one of the most delicious three course meals that we had in a long time. Our party had one person with special dietary needs and they accommodated this so well.We can’t wait to come back and taste options from the regular menu! -

Lovely restaurant week lunch. Quinoa with the salmon was a tad bit salty but otherwise everything was perfect and delicious. -
Review 21 (2022-08-23 - Rating: 5)
What a gastronomical experience. Chef Christina serves only the absolutely best concept and flavor whilst keeping service extremely quick. Calling the dinner a masterpiece would be an understatement. Will recommend to anyone who visits NYC -
Review 22 (2023-07-23 - Rating: 4)
Dined at Boulud Sud prior to a show at Lincoln Center. The bread, lemon saffron pasta and sorbets are excellent. I am familiar with the flavor profile of Tagine chicken and other than the skin not being crisp there was nothing truly wrong about it. I just would not order it again. The highlight was the Hawaiian prawn special which was so delicious. The service is outstanding. -
Review 23 (2023-11-11 - Rating: 4)
We were shown white truffles as the night special . but served black truffles. Unnecessary !!! Besides that wonderful place, good service , expensive as expected . -
Review 24 (2023-02-26 - Rating: 5)
We were delighted that Boulud Sud survived the pandemic and found, upon our return, that the high standards we came to expect were still in place. We had delicious food, a highly enjoyable wine, and a wonderful evening. The dining room at Boulud Sud is lovely and energetic, without being noisy and instrusive. Service is graceful and unassuming, though the staff are on top of every need. Absolutely first-rate experience! -
Review 25 (2022-09-24 - Rating: 5)
Excellent presentation and execution in all the food. The baked goods were probably my favorite items and the cured salmon, which tasted heavenly. Surprisingly at the other end the barbecue meat tasted bland despite being cooked to perfect tenderness. It was hard to resist ordering the delicious looking orders for the table, but the prix fixe was plenty of food, even slightly too much. The service was good, friendly, though it seemed too busy at times. -
Review 26 (2018-12-18 - Rating: 5)
It is truly impossible to overstate what a gem this place is. Perfect location, attentive servers and the most unbelievable selection of food. -
Review 27 (2023-08-20 - Rating: 4)
Overall a good experience. Lamb was a little too chewy. Octopus dish was yummy. Grapefruit givre, while just a little too sweet for my taste, was still delicious. Service was great -
Review 28 (2023-11-29 - Rating: 4)
Ordered some Thanksgiving pies. Went to pick up and was brushed off by the counter staff. Had to search around to find a truck parked outside with my order. Not too big a hassle but what ever happened to customer service. The pies (apple and pecan) were delicious. -
Review 29 (2023-08-10 - Rating: 4)
Its a fine dining. Restaurant week menu, chicken liver moss is good, leg of lamb is above average, but the rice comes with it not my taste, too sour. Desert is good -
Review 30 (2023-02-10 - Rating: 4)
Beautiful restaurant with top service. The lighting lended to a relaxing and intimate ambiance. We shared the lamb flatbread and i ordered the mushroom soup and kale salad. Delish! The restaurant week menu looked fantastic but we werent that hungry. Great wine selection. Recommend for a good time with close friends or family. -
Review 31 (2023-07-04 - Rating: 5)
Amazing restaurant next to the Lincoln center. Great service from every member of their staff. Also they have prix. -
Review 32 (2022-10-13 - Rating: 5)
The ambience was elegant yet comfortable. The service pleasant and prompt. Our server asked if we were going to a show and what time it started. She also acknowledged my spouses upcoming burthday with a candle on his dessert. Our meals and cocktails were excellent. I noted there was no audible background music but I had no problem with that. -
Review 33 (2023-11-12 - Rating: 4)
The front of the house staff were very accommodating with my reservation time request. The young lady waiting for my table was excellent. The staff were very welcoming.Flavors for the food could use some improvement, the Moroccan Chicken was very good but the citrus flavors were too strong for my liking. For dessert I selected the Grapefruit Givré, I enjoyed part of the dessert but not all of them. I regret picking this option, but your experience will vary. -
Review 34 (2022-08-12 - Rating: 4)
Went for an early dinner with a friend. The ambience was very relaxed, seems good for business dinners or family gatherings. The food was good, we enjoyed the Greek salad, thought the gazpacho lacked condiments as it was a bit flat but very much enjoyed our salmon. Our favorite dish was the grapefruit dessert, now that felt exotic! It’s hard to describe, see pictures but tastes amazingly fresh. Prices are very high. Service is very friendly. -
Review 35 (2022-07-19 - Rating: 5)
Amazing restaurant next to the Lincoln center. Great service from every member of their staff, pleasant ambiance, and the food was spectacular! Every item seemed simple, but perfectly prepared and plated. Plan to return many times! -
Review 36 (2023-06-02 - Rating: 5)
Wonderful restaurant with incredible staff. Our server Madeline was patient and treated us like family. The Snake River steak was perfect as well as the New Zealand salmon. -
Review 37 (2022-08-17 - Rating: 5)
My first visit to Boulud Sud will not be my last. The food and drinks were exceptionally delicious. We chose the restaurant week menu to try it out, and each course was exciting. The Mediterranean flavors are evident in everything including cumin, citrus and sesame. The staff may have been slightly overattentive, but we were happy with the care. The interior is a welcoming open space with comfortable seating and a bar in front. Im excited to return for the tasting menu. With delivery prices on mediocre food so expensive now, dining in on outstanding food is the antidote. -
Review 38 (2018-08-06 - Rating: 5)
Stopped by for restaurant week for their $42 3 course dinner menu:Menu has plenty of variety, (apps, main course and dessert).Portions are just right so once you leave you feel good and not too full.Atmosphere is great and lively, the service is really good and attentive.... The Food had many interesting flavors from the surrounding Mediterranean countries.tried the following:Apps: salad - was average, the tuna was goodMain: the fish was amazing - bursting with flavor, the pasta was really well made with perfect seasoning and the right amount of sauce.dessert: must try the grapefruit - very unique dish , also tries the almond cake - which was great too. -
Review 39 (2023-02-03 - Rating: 5)
Came in for restaurant week dinner. Everything feels great: Chicken Liver Mousse (fine and smooth), Seared Mediterranean Sea Bass (heat control is perfect), and Arriba Chocolate Mousse (melting and sweet aftertaste). -
Review 40 (2018-05-01 - Rating: 5)
Very good Mediterranean food. I went there for brunch and the atmosphere is kind of semicasual yet romantic in its own way. The food is full of robust flavor and the portions are good. Its definitely upscale in terms of price. And they have a bar with great wine selection and cocktails. -
Review 41 (2022-12-18 - Rating: 5)
Great pre-show dinner. 2 minutes from Lincoln center. We had mild expectations for this restaurant but it surpassed them. My parents loved the wagyu beef and my chicken was great too. The desserts were wonderful too with the grapefruit being unique. The cotton candy balancing the bitter/sour grapefruit was cool. Recommend this place if you need a dinner spot before a Lincoln center show. -
Review 42 (2022-12-08 - Rating: 5)
Perfect place for the first dinner in New York! We came here to celebrate our 2year old daughter, and despite the fact that we were the only couple with small kids in the whole restaurant we had a great time! The food as outstanding, must try: Kale Salad with labneh and pickled persimmon, Duck Bolognese Tagliatelle, Octopus Appetizer, and the dark chocolate mousse for dessert. The drinks menu did not disappoint, I had a French 64 which was delicious and bubbly. Simone, who was taking care of our table was extremely professional and very welcoming! Thank you Simone! They offered us to make something simple for the kids, which was homemade tagliatelle with fresh tomato sauce and kids loved that too! We will definitely come back before leaving the city! -

Had the sea bass and peach dessert, both were fantastic. Sea bass was full of flavors and very fresh. One of the best I have ever tried. Dessert was so tasty and not too sweet.Service was fast sand great. Will definitely go back. -
Review 48 (2022-05-22 - Rating: 4)
Very well run bar. Tuna carpaccio was excellent, how they slice it so thin, a mystery. Lamb Flatbread also tasty. Wines by glass well selected, campari rocks was a very light pour. Bar service was excellent. -
Review 49 (2019-06-15 - Rating: 4)
(Updated) Overall, the food is good but it seems service may slow considerably if it gets busy. The first time I visited for brunch as a party of 4 friends, the place became very busy and packed, and the service was extremely slow (waited > 1hr for our food).Given the other reviews, I tried again for a Friday dinner as a party of three. This time, the service was extremely prompt and the staff quite attentive. The restaurant was also about 2/3 full. -
Review 50 (2023-04-10 - Rating: 5)

Review 51 (2019-05-12 - Rating: 5)
Went here before a show and felt like we got our moneys worth. Lovely presentation, flavors, and a beautiful atmosphere. Every time I turned around someone was filling our water glasses or sweeping the crumbs off the table. First class service. -
Review 52 (2016-08-06 - Rating: 5)
I eat here almost every single weekend. The worst the food has ever been is Eh, average and I think thats usually just when theyve got like ten thousand deliveries and theres not a whole lot they can do about that, it kind of just is what it is. 98% of the time the food is SO GOOD. The portions seem to be larger when you eat in the restaurant, but theyre not stingy ever by any means. I always have leftovers. The French fries are my favorite in the neighborhood, definitely order the hummus, and obviously the chicken gyro is delicious. I also regularly get the falafel and the vegetable platter - both are excellent. (Although, be careful when unpacking the vegetable platter if you get delivery because the oil tends to get everywhere.)If they ever close I honestly dont know how Ill feed myself on the weekends. -
Review 53 (2018-09-25 - Rating: 5)
Excellent gourmet food, with Mediterranean influences. Loved each and every dish. Excellent service and excellent atmosphere. Pricey, but you do get exquisite food. -
Review 54 (2019-10-07 - Rating: 4)
The food was as good as expected for place owned by a great chef. Service is good but I think for that selection of overpriced wines the sommelier or rather the person assisting the sommelier gave us a very poor description and an unimpressive advice of wine. I felt that they wanted to push an expensive cork rather than finding a reasonable pairing for our main courses. -
Review 55 (2018-06-05 - Rating: 4)
The ricotta pancakes were perfectly fluffy and not too heavy. All of our meals were quite delicious - during the busy brunch hour (right around noon on a Sunday) the kitchen was a bit slow in preparing our food but the service was friendly and helpful. -
Review 56 (2023-08-20 - Rating: 5)
Delicious and modern Mediterranean food and cocktails. Impeccable service. Refined and relaxed atmosphere. One of my favorites anywhere in the city. -
Review 57 (2022-12-22 - Rating: 4)
The food is amazing. But when it comes to prix fix thanksgiving, I feel the vegetarian option should not be charged as much as a the other options. But then I understand that a seat is being occupied. -
Review 58 (2019-12-14 - Rating: 5)
A real treat. Service was impeccable. Food quality was impeccable. This place is as close to Michelin as I’ve ever seen. The famous chef really brings in unique Mediterranean dishes that tastes amazing. So impressed with this place. 5 stars! -
Review 59 (2019-06-18 - Rating: 4)
Delicious food and great ambitious, one less star for slower than expected service. We felt it took long time to get our food and there was a big gap between the 2 courses. The dessert were amazing! -
Review 60 (2018-09-16 - Rating: 5)
Gotta late night pasta craving? Their new Happy Pasta Hour offers half-price pastas while dining in the lounge/bar area of @danielboulud’s #UWS #Mediterranean gem. Available after 9pm on Sun-Thurs and 10pm on Fri-Sat. It’s the UWS’s best kept secret! Love their Rye Flour Spaghetti Vongole & Sweet Corn Agnolotti pastas and always end with their delicious desserts! -
Review 61 (2017-06-26 - Rating: 5)
My wife and I went for the pre-show-prix-fixe dinner and agreed it was the best dinner we have had in recent memory. If I could order a gallon of the bean dip I would. The wait staff was attentive, and I left feeling like it was money well spent for a treat. -
Review 62 (2018-02-08 - Rating: 5)
Yes. Good old fashioned restaurant where you take center stage and where you and only you matter. Thank you for being gracious. Cooks and chamber maids invented hospitality when they retired or left the mansions where they worked for. We felt pampered and great attention to detail in everything. Food was very good and true to the authenticity of its Mediterranean theme. -
Review 63 (2019-12-18 - Rating: 5)
On par with price and flavor! Very enjoyable classy environment and delicious meals. The creativity borders on pretention but ultimately results in complexity and enjoyability. Good stuff! -
Review 64 (2019-01-25 - Rating: 4)
Its a crowded restaurant popular with an older crowd. Its very busy and the tables are quiet close to each other. The food is delicious and very rich. I really enjoyed their dessert. The gelato was creamy and its flavor strong. I also enjoyed their pasta which came with cheese and truffles. It was decadent. I left very full and definitely had to take a walk after my meal. I would come back. -
Review 65 (2018-12-18 - Rating: 5)
Extraordinary food and very skilled service. A highlight of an annual holiday tradition. A prix fixe three course menu is offered to theater/concert goers with a focus on providing an unrushed fine dining experience. -
Review 66 (2016-08-20 - Rating: 5)
A great place to dine before seeing a show at Lincoln Center, Boulud Sud has everything down to a T. The staff knows how to deliver quality food and experiences on a tight schedule. If you dont have a time crunch, thats ok too. You wont be rushed and the menu is upscale enough without being snobby. Also, large parties can be seated in private spaces that are out of the way and quiet. -

I went here on a lunch with my creative director and department head to celebrate my promotion in 2019. The food was excellent and I was particularly enchanted by the grapefruit giviré. I would’ve loved to have another meal here but the whole team was laid off and now the restaurant is closed. Shame! It was lovely! -

Celebration for Passover! It’s challenging to find a place to dine out for the holidays. Boulud Sud provided the perfect deliciousMenu & an ideal setting for our 3 empty nester couples. Darko was our server and he met our every request. I have one comment which has nothing to do with the actual restaurant and only to do with human beings- be responsible & respectfulwhile using the restroom! Keep clean & sophisticated. We are all just trying to enjoy this amazing life. -

We were looking for a place to have lunch in the Upper West Side and we found this one. They offer a lunch special for $29 (appetizer + entree). It is a great price for the place, which is kind of fancy, and the food... OMG the food! Love the falafel, hummus and babaganoush from my appetizer. So, so, so tasty! -

Review 72 (2015-01-15 - Rating: 4)
Im not a person who is easily impressed by gimmicks and tricks,* but the bartender at Boulud Sud got me with the Spiked Apple. First of all, its a single malt cocktail that is subtle and delicious. That in itself is a feat.** But even more astonishing is that they go to the trouble of making an APPLE out of ICE, complete with a cinnamon stick stem, and using it as a glass within your glass for your cocktail. A more perfect fall cocktail, I dont think there is.And if single malts scare you, try the From the Field (Honey Comb and Lavender Infused Plymouth Gin, Lemon).I found the food to be a bit less consistent than the cocktails, but there are certainly high points. The charred squid stuffed with chorizo was a meager portion, but excellent; the lamb loin was beautifully cooked and as tender as can be; the Iberico ham predictably melts until your mouth is weeping with porky deliciousness; and the farrotto side was so rich and flavorful that our table ordered another, despite being full to bursting. Each item that emerges from the Boulud Sud kitchen is artfully plated, and there is clearly no lack of skill. That said, there are certain Items that I probably wouldnt revisit on a return trip: the daurade (their spelling, not mine), the crispy artichokes and the rabbit porchetta (not at all what I was expecting/hoping for; it was a cold terrine, which is unlike any porchetta Ive ever heard of), for instance.Truly, nothing was bad. We cleaned every plate and enjoyed every bite. Do I think there are better options in NYC at this price point? Certainly. However, the service is impeccable, the cocktails impressive, the restaurant itself gorgeous, and if you have the means you should treat yourself to a truly fine dining experience. -

I had a great time here. Food is a bit pricey and there isnt very much of it, but you get just enough to excite your taste buds. The service is AMAZING. My friend and I were there past their closing time but we did not feel rushed to leave at all. It was a great experience -- highly recommend. -
Review 77 (2018-12-15 - Rating: 5)
One of the best meals of my whole life, and I do come from Italy. The price was affordable: $100, without wine. Maybe the risotto was slightly overcooked, but hey, the whole dinner was extraordinary. There was a constant citrus idea in every dish we order, perhaps to provide some refreshing flavour to the fish. I was indeed suprised to find some burrata on top of my lobster risotto. Im not sure I loved it, but I was surprised indeed. Moving on to the scallops, well, they were four. Each of them deliciously garnished with some besciamella which also was slightly acidic. The bitter and spicy broccoli rabes were strongly atomised by fried garlic, which were a perfect side to our meal. The flat bread simply disappeared when it reached the table. Finally the dessert. The grape fruit was an explosion of 5 tastes: rose flavoured Turkish delight, sesame halva, whipped cream, the bitter and sour grape fruit itself, and a layer of bitterish caramelised sugar. Im still drooling at the metre thought of such delicacy. Weve ordered a mango based sorbetto as well.Im not sure they have a Michelin star, but they indeed earned an Alfredo 🌟. I was truly stunned. -

Ive been to several of Chef Daniel Bouluds restaurants and I love the designs and food. The food was spectacular, but the staff was kind of rude. We ordered the branzino which was covered in salt and baked. Truly a wonderful dish. -

Pasta happy hour during the week after 9pm, but only at bar and lounge. Pappardelle was my favotite and mezzaluna was amazing too. Linguini a bid to salty but Id dint hate it. I didnt expect much and was pleasantly surprised. Pastas are half price and you can get full or half dishes. Also there is a $10 rhone that was divine. Bread was complimentary and delightful w/darn good olive oil. Complimentary desert bites as well. Halva -

Every time I go here, the experience is the same as always: amazing and compelling. The waiters are extremely professional and helpful, and the food consistently delivers. Specifically for dessert, I wholeheartedly recommend the Grapefruit Givré. -
Review 86 (2012-11-23 - Rating: 4)
Bulud Suds Thanksgiving dinner was priced at an eye-popping $95 per person and did not include any champagne or wine. The latter ordered by the glass ran anywhere from $22 to nearly $27 for a St. Emilion, the retail price per bottle for which is $38.While the food as expected was very good accompanied by excellent service, the same cannot be said for the decor of the restaurant, which had a nondescript upper west side (where it is located) look to it. Although the tables had white linen it was, inexplicably, covered by white paper sheets which were replaced (while others were still dining) when a table was vacated. If the idea is to convey a bistro/cafe feel then Daniel Bulud ought to be setting his prices accordingly instead of the unconscionably high rates his management had set for the Thanksgiving dinner. Bottom line: poor value for money. I would sooner go to Colicchio or SD26 or any number of other high end restaurants than this eatery. -

Boulud Sud is a name play on both the Southern European cuisine and the location of the restaurant in NYC. Overall the Mediterranean influenced food is light and delicious although the special linguine with cream and Australian truffles can claim dreamy and delicious but not light 😁 Service is of course good and the ambience while busy is relaxed elegant. -

Daniel Bolouds valentine to Provencal cusiine in New York. Lovely modern space with a great bar area. One of Lincoln Centers best restaurants with terrific fish, seafood and other dishes with a vivid Mediteranean flare. Pre-theatre is only a prix-fixe three course menu which is a fair deal and makes for efficient but elegant dining before an opera or concert. Superb Rhone-based wine list. -

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of dining at Boulud Sud on last Friday and we are already excited about planning a return trip. From top to bottom, this was a professional, excellent experience. Our service was sensational(shout out to Harold our server and Ian the somm), and the food was extraordinary.Being 2 of us, we chose to split a number of different dishes (hence why some of the portions in my photos look small, that is the split size). We started with the hummus platter which is a a great way to get going, we then had the crudo of the day which was I believe a cold water fluke with avocado crema (a different crudo daily, a must try). However, the stars of the night were the Sea Bass entree, and the Trout dish, the later of which is apparently a new item. You could taste the freshness of the fish. Both dishes saw the fish cooked to perfection, and blended amazing flavors and textures. I will be ordering the Sea Bass every single time I come back.Excellent service, vibey atmosphere, wonderful cocktails and a fantastic menu. Chef Arruda and the entire team are doing exciting things at Boulusd Sud and we cant wait to be back -

Review 115 (2018-01-30 - Rating: 4)
We went during 2018 Winter (Jan.-Feb.) Restaurant week.We tried:Bread with olive oil, on the house, crispy bread slice and bread slice with garlic on top.Sparkling water, bottled, light lemony taste.Appetizer=Mediterranean mezze, the bread was crispy, the hummus have their usual mild tastes, the vegetarian falafels (2 black balls next to the bread) were crispy but not oily, with a dab of green babaghanoush on top of each falafels. The dish taste light and refreshing, stops your hunger and prepares you for the main dish.Gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp), peeled shrimp soaked in olive oil, garlic, and other seasonings. Has faint flavor of garlic, and light taste.Main dishes=Moroccan chicken tagine, juicy chicken with slightly crispy skin on top, mixed in with turnip, cauliflower, olive, couscous, some greens and other spice, and olive oil. Mostly the light taste of chickens natural juicy flavor.Egyptian lamb Cleopatra, diced lamb cooked to melt in your mouth, with very light gamey taste, seasoned with sweet potatoes, toasted almond, sesame, preserved apricot, turnip, and olive oil. Its boasted to be one of chef Daniel s dish for his wife during their wedding, according to one of their waiters.Desserts=Chocolate Zappa inglese, a tiny but flavorful slice of cake with light sweet taste of chocolate cream and roasted hazelnut.Grapefruit givré, a complex construction of dessert, you should check out how its made online! Stuffed with plenty of grapefruit flavored ice-cream inside. The cold lowered most but not all of the bitter taste of grapefruit, with added texture from pieces of grapefruit pulp chunks, tiny marshmallows(?), caramelized sealer that looks like a net covering the opening of the frozen grapefruit, and fluffy cotton-like halva(?). Many layer of texture and flavor, by far the best dish of the whole night, IMO.Earl Grey (black tea) with milk and sugar chunks, also offer an assortment of packaged sugar selections.Tiny chocolate halva chunks(?), on the house, sweet little treat to end the night.Service=The waiters/waitresses dont limit their service to their own tables, so they are fast and friendly, even patiently answered all of my questions regarding how to say the food name, and what the food are. The busboys/busgirls always remember to ask if you are done with the food before they take it back to the kitchen, and they always sweep the crumbs away. Over all, they are friendly, polite, fast, and informative, never forget to smile!Coming from regular consumer of flavorful Chinese food, the flavor of Mediterranean food is a little underwhelming, but everything was very well cooked, and if friends are willing, Id still come back to explore other items on the menu! -

The atmosphere was spread out with carpeted floors and couch-like seating. Everything was extremely comfortable and easy for people who are hard of hearing to have conversations without yelling. The service was excellent the waiters and waitresses were elegant and top notch. They made sure to point out that the main chef was a woman, the dessert chef was a woman, and Somalia was a woman. I had the wagyu. It was incredible cooked blue, now I want Kobe lol. Overall an excellent restaurant with an equally excellent atmosphere, which is hard to find these days. -

Upon researching restaurants for Valentine’s Day weekend, I came across this amazing restaurant and booked a reservation based on previous reviews and it’s inspiration of Chef David. I have to say the restaurant EXCEEDED my expectations and my lady loved it. They were actually able to personalize her dessert with a special message. We ordered from the restaurant week menu including Shrimp & Octopus (appetizers), Sea Bass & Graced Lamb Shoulder (main), and Grapefruit Sorbet & Caramelized Pears (dessert). Amazing staff, food, ambiance. Highly recommend this place for date night with your significant other or with a group of friends. -

Nothing but amazing memories and amazing food!Updated on 2/24/23 -Literally the most accommodating, caring and delicious restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. The food is so good, it will make your eyes roll back into your head, the staff is so quite and respectful and knowledgeable and caring. They even ask if you have any food restrictions before your meal starts; and go out-of-the-way not only to make sure you not only have a full plate, but a good plate. And that grapefruit! This is coming from somebody who doesn’t even like grapefruit! -

We’ve been to Boulud Sud several times. The service is always perfect. The front of the house staff are trained to perfection. They seem to magically appear 5 seconds before you’ve thought of what you need. But all that fades compared with food. We selected the three course fixed price meal for $65 a person. Having eaten at several very high end restaurants in Manhattan I believe the price is a bargain. For us the portions were the right size. Not to small nor too big. While the food has always been good they’ve upped their quality with a new chef. They’re out competing the competition. -
Review 166 (2019-06-07 - Rating: 5)
This place knows how to source great ingredients and make them shine. I had a chicken dish and somehow they made a chicken breast come alive with flavor and texture that Ive rarely experienced. My chefs hat off to the kitchen -- they rock. The prices are not out of line for the quality that they bring to the plate. I was prepared to be underwhelmed by Sud, but they exceeded my expectations. Probably need reservations for weekend meals -- the weekday night we went was very busy. -

What can I say about Boulud Sud? This review should have been written months ago, however, better late than never as it is so well deserved. I had my husbands 65th birthday party there & I cannot say enough about the amazing food- SO delicious & BEAUTIFULLY presented, as well as the wonderfully attentive staff who could not do enough for us. We had a private room downstairs which worked out perfectly for us. What a treat! Ill go back in a heartbeat. -
Review 175 (2019-02-24 - Rating: 5)
Boulud Sud not only has a clean, posh atmosphere and amazingly delicious food, but I cant compliment the staff enough. I arrived with my partner without a reservation during their busiest time (which was in direct correlation to the 8pm curtain at the Lincoln Center) this evening, and they were very accommodating and communicative about our wait time and sat us ASAP. Once we were seated, the service continued to be superb. It seemed each time I polished off my water glass, it automatically refilled, they were so attentive to it. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable about the food and menu items as well as the city and surrounding boroughs. The flavors of each course were distinct, unique and delicious and I will definitely be a repeat customer, but the stars of tonights experience were earned by the excellent staff.
