Nice flex at $2 Happy hour oysters! Excellent quality oysters and a bunch of other items included for happy hour including $25 moules frites ( mussels and fries, their speciality ). Highly recommend the oysters, Thai mussels and shoe string fries 💪🏽 -

Flex Mussels was amazing! The place was super busy, but the food was fresh and delicious, and the service didn’t miss a beat. A great spot for seafood lovers - I’ll definitely be back! -

Ended up at Flex Mussels around odd time between lunch and dinner, desperate for foods after visiting the MET. We had happy hour foods, including guacamole, deviled eggs, fish tacos, and regular french fries. We initially ordered 1 taco for each person but ordered 1 more each again, as it was so delicious. One of the best fish tacos I have ever tried. The guacamole was ok - our kind server brought us more chips. Deviled eggs were unbelievably soft - my kids enjoyed them. The restaurant has a fairly cozy atmosphere, with surprisingly adequately distanced seating. Located in a 10-min walking distance from the MET. Our server was friendly and decent. -

I visited this spot for brunch, and I was immediately drawn in by its lively atmosphere and warm lighting. The decor is vibrant, with a playful combination of light orange and green hues. While the space is a bit cozy, the tables are adequately spaced apart, allowing for comfortable conversation without excessive noise. With both indoor and outdoor seating options, theres more breathing room available outside. Now, lets talk about the food - its simply fantastic! The everything donuts were a delightful surprise, coming out fluffy and bite-sized, topped with scallion cream cheese reminiscent of classic New York bagels. The curry mussels were a standout dish, boasting generous portions perfect for sharing. The creamy curry sauce had just the right amount of spice, and I found myself enjoying the truffle fries even more when dipped into it for an extra burst of flavor.Given its popularity, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance, especially for weekend brunches. Im already looking forward to returning to try more of their unique mussel and donut flavors - they all sound equally enticing and fun. -

Friendly waitstaff, quick service, tasty food. I had the Thai broth and liked it. The guacamole with crab was ok, the crab was good but the guacamole was just ok. I couldn’t tell if it was freshly made. -

Just finished a 38th wedding anniversary brunch at Flex Mussels. The food, drinks, and service were all amazing! But the best part was the staff: from beginning to end everyone made us feel welcomed and made our day even more special! This was our first visit to the restaurant but it certainly won’t be our last. -

Came here on a Tuesday evening to celebrate my birthday with family and friends . I made the reservation for 6 but had an extra person they did not give me an easy and were accommodating. We also brought a cake there is a $5 cake fee per person, a little pricey. The service was amazing the staff helped us to understand the menu and order the right about of food for the table. We did three pots of mussels, scampi, parm, and thai . That was definitely our favorite, we also had the lobster roll, fish sandwich, fish tacos, calamari, lastly we also tried the whipped ricotta. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed absolutely everything. It was delicious. Fulfilled my mussels craving . -

If you like mussels, this is your place! They have many different preparations. We had the one with lobster, which was delicious, but had very little lobster in it. French fries are not included, which is unusual for a mussel place, so don’t forget to order them! We had donuts for dessert. They are round fried dough balls with an injection of different toppings. We ordered an order of four pieces and shared it. A yummy end to a good meal. Our waiter, Terrell did an excellent job, advising us and helping us with prompt service despite being very busy. This is a family restaurant. There’s a lot of noise upstairs. The downstairs is brighter and I wonder if it is also quieter. I will sit there next time! -
Review 10 (2023-10-28 - Rating: 5)
The staff was super nice, helpful. I sat outside and they occasionally checked up on me and whenever I asked for something they were so fast in getting it for me. The food was delicious. So good. I didn’t have much but I can tell that good is cooked with love. They’re truffle fries!!! Omg some of the best I’ve ever had. Oysters were super fresh and tasty. I loved this place. Highly recommend. -

Flex mussels has reopened in Beyoglus previous spot. The first floor is very nice. The upstairs is not as nice of an atmosphere. If you are familiar with their previous location, the vibe is very different and not as nice. The menu is the same though. They also have an enclosed outdoor seating area.Lots of different mussel options in different broths and the oysters are also good here. Make a reservation as this place gets packed any night. -
Review 12 (2024-10-13 - Rating: 5)
What a wonderful brunch experience!! Entire staff was wonderful. Professional and polite, they are entirely dedicated to the work they do. Clearly theyre a great team. The food was delicious! The donuts are a must try! They were like nothing Ive ever had before. The bacon, egg and cheese was fantastic! Not to mention the very tasty coffee! The establishment was cozy with a terrific brunch vibe. Cant wait to go back for the mussels. -
Review 13 (2024-10-02 - Rating: 5)
The absolute best mussels in the city! And if you go to the bar 5-7pm weekdays or 4-5pm at tables weekends, their happy hour oysters and mussels with fries are a fantastic deal. Don’t sleep on this place! I miss having this spot in the west village but will travel uptown for this awesome spot! -
Review 14 (2024-09-30 - Rating: 5)
We loved everything we ordered at Flex mussels. We tried 4 pots of mussels and they were all delicious. Their bread is to die for, I think we each ate a full loaf. Will definitely come again. -
Review 15 (2023-05-21 - Rating: 5)
Pretty good food and service. The spacing of tables can feel a bit crammed. The food was great with a small but nice selection of oysters and a bunch of appetizers and mussel flavors to choose from. Very friendly and attentive staff. -
Review 16 (2023-11-30 - Rating: 5)
Stopped in for the new happy hour 3-5 pm and grabbed a rye cocktail and a dozen fresh oysters. Perfection! Fresh fresh oysters and the perfect rye cocktail, think super smooth Sazerac cocktail!Came back for dinner…and dessert. The fried clams…cooked to perfection! Tender and “sweet” with the perfect combo of breading and clam belly. Aioli sauce to die for…Then the Lobster frites but with mashed potatoes instead of fries…so much lobster meat!! All prepared in bite sized pieces with a bath of drawn butter. Amazing! Finally dessert…a half order of donuts…one filled with dark chocolate and the other caramel…it’s true, always room for dessert!! And Sambuca!!!The other thing I wanted to mention is the staff. Superb service. Every detail. -
Review 17 (2022-11-15 - Rating: 5)
First I loved the mini oyster menu which had a good range of fresh east coast and west coast oysters . The mussels were cooked to perfection . It came in a huge pot at first I was overwhelmed but I finished it all… then the donuts were so good and you had so many filling options to pick from. -
Review 18 (2024-08-23 - Rating: 4)
Mussels were great and they were a well sized portion. The bacon Mac and cheese was great also. The chicken was a little too salty and the ricotta didn’t have much taste but the salmon was great. Definitely recommend visiting this place for mussels and more! -
Review 19 (2024-06-29 - Rating: 5)
Came here 2 days in a row. Had the Everything donuts to start, excellent!!! I had the fish sandwich and my wife had the lobster roll, both were so good. Ended the meal with the stuffed donuts, they are a must. Our server Evan was awesome, so attentive and all his recommendations were spot on. The manager, I believe her name was Kailyn, was always checking in on us and the rest of the guests, making sure everything was perfect. Great food, great service, new favorite restaurant on the east side -
Review 20 (2022-09-09 - Rating: 5)
I hate writing great things about the places I love to go, because then it becomes harder for me to get in. After my dining experience last night at Flex Mussels, they deserves one.Its very rare when you dine out at a place and the service and food are both spectacular. The new restaurant has been beautifully done. Our waiter (Jack) had the professionalism, whit and knowledge that sadly you dont see a lot of anymore. Flex Mussels is a family run business and it show by the marvelous staff they have handpicked. Now on to the food, wow and wow is all I can say! We started with some amazing East Coast Oysters with a great white wine that Jack recommended, followed by the tuna which was super flavorful and delicious. We had two types of mussels, the Thai and the Parma, both amazing and they give you a ton of them! When you are n the mood for great seafood and service you must make plans to come here. -
Review 21 (2024-09-02 - Rating: 5)
Everything was perfect . The food is great the service is attentive and quick . The atmosphere was just right for a Sunday brunch with friends . The noise level was ok and the place was just the right temperature. My coffee was excellent as was everything we ordered . Good price and perfect portions . Quality ingredients and excellent preparation . -
Review 22 (2023-02-25 - Rating: 5)
I was never a mussels fan before, but thanks to Flex Mussels Im a convert! I love how many flavor options they have. The Thai curry mussels are my favorite and I also loved the classic and parma. The lobster roll was also so fresh and satisfying - get it with the parmesan truffle fries. Homemade donuts for dessert with plenty of options for the filling, what better way to end an amazing meal. Aside from the incredible food, the ambiance is gorgeous and service is fantastic. We ordered literally everything our server recommended and were so pleased. So lucky to have Flex in the neighborhood! -
Review 23 (2024-07-09 - Rating: 5)
It is one of the most charming and elegant restaurants I have had the pleasure to dine in. Food was excellent and the service too. The oysters where fresh, salty, and sweet. My server was nice and attentive coming to the table at the moment. I highly recommend it but please experience for yourself to determine if you agree. -
Review 24 (2019-12-15 - Rating: 5)
If theres any NYC restaurant that Ive been to endless times and I have happily given my repeat business, it would have to be Flex Mussels and thats both the UES & West Village branches. Hands down the very best Happy Hour, with such an incredible value for money without compromising both quality and quantity!I usually go here with either my best friend or hubby and enjoy a glass or two of Vinho Verde. A dozen fresh oysters (usually from Prince Edward Island) is always a must, used to be $1 each but now at $1.50 during Happy Hour but still a great deal so we dont mind. Then its on to the Mussels with Fries deal (used to come with beer but it was removed recently, again we dont mind) and we still have that wonderful option of upgrading it to Truffle Fries which I highly recommend. The San Marzano flavor is my go to mussels here as the tomato sauce and spiciness is a perfect blend. So delicious! And if were particularly feeling indulgent and not counting calories that day (LOL), we get the donuts too. We love the cinnamon and sugar, chocolate and salted caramel. The vanilla bean sauce just makes it even yummier. Service and staff is also always on point!Overall, one of my most favorite restaurants here! I highly recommend! -
Review 25 (2022-09-23 - Rating: 5)
Had an overall great experience at the newly opened Flex Mussels. The place was packed but the service didn’t make you feel like they were busy at all. We ordered the parm and mushroom mussels which were both respectively delicious. If you’re trying to share and get different flavors, I’d recommend getting one that’s not a cream base. Mussels come with bread but did not regret ordering some fries. Will definitely be back! -
Review 26 (2019-08-21 - Rating: 4)
Great spot at UES. My friend and I went in for a quick dinner and sat at the bar. Ordered fish tacos and a pot of mussels to share. Both dishes were delicious! Taking one star off because both dishes took a bit long to get to us. The waiter had to keep checking with the kitchen. Other than that, everything was wonderful! -

Review 31 (2018-01-03 - Rating: 5)
Yeah, it sounds like I invite friends to a gym when I text the name of the restaurant! Its always a conversation starter. I keep coming back just for their tremendous pot of mussels! Mussels are such a tender food that can be spoiled easily or taste like water after washing your dishes. I try them anywhere I go. And finally...FINALLY! Im so happy I found the IDEAL Mussels on UES! Classy or Thai or curry! Such a verity! Flex Mussels thank you to helping me fall in love with mussels! -
Review 32 (2019-08-17 - Rating: 5)
My wife and I went for happy hour. Great deal on an order of mussels and truffle fries. The dijon sauce for the mussels was delicious. I couldnt stop dipping the bread to keep tasting the flavor. We also had a side order of crab guacamole. The guacamole was decent, nothing spectacular. Drink special was very good for happy hour. My wife had the Aperol cocktail and I had a refreshing lager beer. The end had to be the cherry on top to a fantastic dinner. The donuts... if you save enough room for dessert, do not skip on trying these. Salted caramel was one of the best donuts Ive ever had. Our server was lovely. Very attentive and she gave the recommendation on trying the salted caramel. If looking for a casual dinner, this place has great food and solid service for a good price. -
Review 33 (2024-04-08 - Rating: 5)
Ive never heard of this place before, we were invited to brunch with friends.Im not big on seafood but they had a variety of food options to choose from. The food and drinks were good! After seeing the MJ Musical, we stumbled upon happy hour at this bright, airy, fun place. The servers were excellent & the food was delicious. We had oysters, fish tacos & branzino, with a perfect glass of proseco. It all paired perfectly. It was one of the most intriguing happy hour menus Ive encountered & I want to go back & try more. The perfect day date!! -

Amazing place if you love MUSSELS, the service is always good and the donuts are always worth having!Great if you have a reservation, otherwise do not even try. Can get a bit loud but it adds to the ambiance.EDIT: Went for their weekend brunch and it was amazing. Highly recommend the Mexican waffle and the savory donuts. Both are amazing in how unique they are and are just fun to eat!Pro tip: The Mexican mussels are the ones to go with (if you love Mexican food, like me) -

Great mussels and fries an easy walk from the Met (Metropolitan Museum). Oysters on the half shell too.Mussels are fairly bland and a great canvas for all kinds of delicious sauces (braising liquid).Sit in the bar for Happy Hour deals. Enjoy. -

Staff was considerate - While waiting for a reserved table, our party of 4 was served glasses of prosecco. Mussels were amazing in a savory Scampi broth. So glad they give us perfect bread for dipping. Try to save room for their warm donuts. 😋 -

Flex Mussels is a good spot for a casual neighborhood dinner on the Upper East Side.• The staff is very friendly.• The food is delicious.• It can get quite noisy later in the evening, but if you go before 6 pm, you can enjoy the peaceful ambiance. -

Very rarely doni give a 5 star review. Flex Mussels food and service was wonderful. We went for brunch. First, we had our small dog with us and they were so accommodating. Asked us if the dog needed anything - like a bowl of water. The food was awesome especially the mussels which I would go back for in a heartbeat. Eggs were poached perfectly. And the Bloody Marys were great too. Highly recommend! I will be back. -

Loved this place! First time experience couldnt have been better. Ceasar (at bar) gave us A+ service and I especially appreciated his willingness to make reccommendations when we asked. Thai mussels he suggested were fabulous as were the oysters we had before that. Fun, delicious dessert (donuts!) and drinks we really enjoyed along the way. Really ... all great. -

Fried clam strips!!!! All mussels had great flavors! Especially Parma!BUT! The mussels were very tiny and overcooked. Bread was very good.Wine overpriced for what it was. -
Review 60 (2023-12-28 - Rating: 5)
There is street side parking but good luck getting it.I was never much of a mussels guy, I thought the pinnacle of mussels is butter garlic.I was wrong. This place has introduced me to new flavor combinations which were amazing.I had the scampi, it was great. My wife ordered Thai. The Thai was a new mix of old flavors. The Curry goes very well with the bread.I would absolutely come back again dragging my unbeliever friends. The oysters there are fresh, and I just wish they had ginger salt with wasabi for the oysters. It would absolutely complete my night. -

Review 65 (2022-09-19 - Rating: 5)
Must go on the Upper East Side! The food is great, start to finish. Of course you have to get some mussels (Dijon for me), but they have freshened up the menu with crudo and “little sharky” oysters might be the best on the planet. Always finish with the donutsTop notch service. The staff is very knowledgeable about what they are serving and totally professional in their hospitality. This place is beautiful! I especially like the “sky marble” light fixtures (my words, not theirs) and the unique bathrooms are very fun.All in all it’s just a great New York City dining experience. I’ll be back again soon. -
Review 66 (2024-12-17 - Rating: 4)

Review 69 (2021-11-18 - Rating: 5)
Amazing is an understatement! Came our from jersey and would happily do it again. Even though it was a packed Saturday night, they got us in without a reservation and the service was amazing. Even the food runner was interacting and having a good time with us. Oysters, fried seafood appetizer were on point. I got the lobster and fries and it was cooked perfectly. No need to dip in butter. Parm mussels were the fan favorite. Finish it off with a nice espresso and peanut butter and jelly donuts and you’ve found heaven on earth. The manager Macy made us feel at home and she did a great job running the place while finding time to interact with customers. I’d give this place 6 stars if I could. You won’t be disappointed. -
Review 70 (2023-01-24 - Rating: 4)
This is a great spot and the mussels are delicious. We got oysters that were ok and the fish sandwich but all you really need here are the mussels. We got the classic mussels but may come back to try some of the others. The one thing i didnt really like was that if we are paying a premium, i would expect almost all of the mussels to open. Our bucket had 5 unopened and the server unapologetically said that every pot will have that many unopened. Maybe a better explanation could have been given -
Review 71 (2023-06-13 - Rating: 4)
You need to start by making your sign a little smaller. It is too big and can be seen from Empire State.Food quality is great except that they get salt for free and hence there is plenty in your food. Fries were so salty that I had to return it, and they did not even bother to remove it from the bill. -
Review 72 (2023-12-08 - Rating: 5)
Absolutely amazing mussels tucked away at this gem. Probably the best (flavorful, fresh, juicy) oysters I’ve ever had. Highly recommend the Parma mussels. Dipping the bread in the sauce is a must! Great place to stop for lunch before an afternoon at the Met or walking around Central Park. -
Review 73 (2024-02-17 - Rating: 4)
I ordered the Chef’s Special mussels with truffle fries. The fries were great but the mussels have too many unnecessary toppings. The service and atmosphere were great. -

Review 75 (2024-02-24 - Rating: 5)
LOVE! The decor, the food, the cocktail! On point, our waiter Cedric was awesome, attentive but not too much. My friend had the Diablo lobster mussels, I had the scampi mussels. OMG! The broth was delicious! We kept getting bread to soak it up! 🤣 Flex marks the spot was the cocktail I ordered, I asked for a little less of the maraschino Lacore, because I was worried it would be too sweet. It turned out perfect. I’ve also gone for happy hour and their deals are pretty good, they have cocktails, wine, and food on the happy hour menu. -
Review 76 (2023-11-13 - Rating: 4)

Review 78 (2019-04-02 - Rating: 5)
Cons: If you dont wear stretch pants or show up with an appetite, youll regret it.Pros: I didnt even realize I liked mussels until I tried this place. We started with the beet salad (yum) then I got the pesto shrimp and mussel dish (my husband got the lobster bisque mussel dish but mine was better) and all items were delicious, ample portions, priced fairly, the ambiance was nice and clean but not distracting, and overall it provided us with a wonderful experience. Excellent service, also. Conclusion: I would 100% return. But I would sit at the bar (not at a regular table) so I could join in on happy hour! -
Review 79 (2019-04-24 - Rating: 5)
This place is so much fun! They have lots of creative mussel dishes and everything weve tried weve loved. The calamari is well seasoned and crispy, the truffle tries are delicious, and the specialty cocktails are refreshing and pair perfectly with seafood. The service is also quick and the noise level is perfect for conversation. -
Review 80 (2018-11-18 - Rating: 4)
Savory Donuts, mussels, oysters and fries were all wonderful. Service was as well. I thought the prices were steep ($4 per oyster was a bit over the top! Also mussels should have been at least $5 less expensive for what you get). But I’d still come back when I am at the met if I am feeling like splurging. (The fries and donut sampler were the real standouts!). -

Newly opened location, after the sad fire that closed the original UES location. NOTE: NO happy hour yet. Reservations recommended. Go early or late for a quieter time.Come here for energetic dinner in a gorgeous spot: the atmosphere is VERY loud, buzzing and tables are very close. People bumping into each other guests and staff alike, which I didnt find comfortable. The bread, truffle friends and the mussels broth and flavors were excellent, the lobster roll scrumptious. The actual size of mussels were small and disappointing. Friendly and attentive service. Save room for the made to order donuts. -

Great Mussels, Service, Food and a sublime Happy Hour to boot. The variety of mussel pots is mouth watering and the raw oysters are as good as it gets in the Apple. East coast. West Coast. Delicious varieties from Prince Edward Island. Truffle fries. Yum. Crab Guacamole. Double yum. The happy hour at the bar is a great deal. A bit of several great dishes offered. Great generous mixed drinks for $8 and beers for less. A mussel pot deal and oysters for $1.50. But don’t go there. Please. The seats are limited and the locals would like to keep it a quiet find. -

Their fish dip is the reason I went back, it was so well seasoned and has a hint of smoky flavor, so delicious!! The Parma mussels are so tasty too, we finished them before we took photo lol -

Have lived in the area for 5 years now and always wanted to try this place. We finally made it over and Im so glad that we did. The food is amazing. Tastes great and everything tasted fresh and clean. The service is fantastic. Our waiter was polite, patient and offered advice. The ambience is terrific. Huge place but still feels very intimate for a date night. Id highly recommend people try this out. You wont regret it. -

Food: I have come here many times for brunch and once for happy hour. By far they have the best appetizers for brunch including the bagel donuts, cheese fries, and avocado toast with a poached egg. The baked egg dish is a good healthy entree if you are in the mood for Italian. The lobster roll is a good sized portion, but I would not say it is the best entree they offer for brunch. Definitely get the coffee, it comes with a cute creamer/sugar holder combo with sugar cubes and sprinkles. Happy hour is the best deal as far as taste and price. The $1 oysters are delicious and pair well with the beer that is also on the HH menu. I have even gotten their oysters for breakfast and I do not regret it.Service: If you go for brunch when they first open at 11:30, you will get great service, but the last time I went a little later around 12:30, and even though it wasnt that busy, the waiter was frazzled and was forgetting other peoples orders around us. Note: this was also a different waiter than we usually would get, so maybe it was just her. During happy hour, the service is still great.Overall, Flex Mussels deserves 5 stars for delicious food.Hope this review helps if it is your first time going here. -

Got there around 9:30pm and place was packed, but we still managed to get 2 seats at the bar. Had some of their house cocktails (which were delicious) while we waited for our food. The raw oysters were fresh, while the deep fried oysters were cooked perfectly. Their shrimp ceviche was fresh and tasty. We also ordered the mussels cooked Maine style (lobster, bacon, chowder soup), and the portions were generous, with lots of fresh mussels and a great sauce to mop up with bread. Also had their filled-donuts for dessert and we can barely finish. Got great service throughout our meal from our bartender Cesar. Definitely will visit again. -

The mussels were great, which is what everyone should be coming here for. i got the valencia and will definitely be back to try them all. however, there is a discrepancy between their online menu and their paper menu at the restaurant. when we brought it to our waiter’s attention, he told us the restaurant made changes to their menu since the opening of their new location. that being said, there is not a single non-fish or non-seafood option on the menu, even though there are several listed on their online menu. not everyone i dined with eats fish and seafood, so it was very disappointing that there was no accommodation for them. please update the online menu to reflect what is actually being offered in order to prevent this from happening to other patrons! -

Incredible seafood restaurant, they had a lobster mac and cheese special that was amazing. A little light on the lobster, but heavy on the creamy cheese. They keep you loaded up on bread so dont be afraid to ask for more. The mussel bowls are awesome and if you find it confusing theyre more than happy to answer any questions. Seating was a little tight, but we went early at 5:30 and it was fairly open and not too loud. -

Seafood is pretty solid overall. Is it the best Ive ever had? No, but a great place to grab a bite to eat. The real highlights is their homemade doughnuts. Pillowy, light, and a tremendous selection of flavors to choose from. -

Flex Mussels, an import to NYC from PEI (that’s Prince Edward Island in Canada, where the good mussels are from), has some of the best mussels in the city. For dinner or Sunday brunch, a bucket of these bad boys will take care of that mussel craving. From traditional to more exotic flavors like Thai curry and Indian spice, there are plenty of flavors to suit any taste. For brunch, there are also the excellent everything donuts, essentially a donut stuffed with cream cheese and the stuff that goes on an everything bagel. It’s as good as it sounds. The toast with goat cheese is overflowing with tasty cheese, but at $9 ouch. The beer menu is not bad, but I was surprised that there were far more beers on tap than the menu listed. The Fra Diavolo mussels were impeccably good with a nice level of spice and garlic. It was so good, the fries (which are a must for soaking up sauce) weren’t enough so I drank it. You can’t find better mussels in NYC, though you’ll definitely pay for the quality here with $25 not uncommon for a bucket of mussels. -

Incredible burger here, super juicy and flavorful. The fish sandwich is also a standout. The fries are thin and crispy. The star, the mussels also come in amazing broths. -

Our new top neighborhood spot! Food, service and atmosphere were awesome! Starting with the food: We had burnt fingers and octopus for appetizer. Both delicious and very satisfying. Cooked to perfection. The burnt fingers come with fried shrimp, calamari and oysters. Light breading and were very delicious. Octopus appetizer was cooked perfectly and are complemented with beans and chorizo. For the main, we had mussels in Thai, Fra Diavolo and Bisque. Each were better than the other. My daughter had the fish and chips. She loved it. Dessert ended up being the surprise of the night. Donuts were over the top awesome! Lemon Meringue Pie was also excellent! Without a doubt, we will be coming back for all of this incredible food we had. I cant say enough good things about this place. Theres a good reason why this place is always booked. Be prepared to overeat! -

Recently started offering brunch. Choice of Bellini or bloody Mary with brunch entrees. As the name implies, this place is known for their wide variety of mussel preparations, but the egg dishes (most have pun names like Julio Egglesias) are very good too. The savory-flavored donuts are surprisingly good, but they remind me of stuffed, soft bagels with flavored cream cheese. Reservations recommended. -

At a $1.50 for happy hour oysters in Manhattan you shouldnt even read further. Just go get some. If youre still reading the vibe is awesome. Very retro cool and hip decor/vibe. PS some of the oysters can be pretty big. Wash them down with an Aperol Spritz. Youll be happy you did. 😉 -

I can’t say enough about how delicious this food was! We had the truffle fries, Parma and Italiano (I think?) mussels, and donuts for dessert, and everything was amazing! They give a lot of food for your money, it’s a cute little place that isn’t too loud, and the wait staff was very friendly. I have told everyone I know about this place and recommended they go. You should go too! Now! -

Review 116 (2016-11-19 - Rating: 4)
Came here with my work team on a business trip on the recommendation of a coworker. She described it as a seafood restaurant, and while there is other seafood to be had, this would be better described as mussels, mussels, mussels. Luckily, theyre all delicious! We walked here from 34th to build up an appetite, and build up an appetite we did. I was nervous thinking I wouldnt fill up on mussels, but I was wrong. Their portions are great. Let me step back though. We saw the outside and though wow... this is the place you suggested?. There was nothing fancy about it, especially if youre going to walk miles to get there. But we were very pleasantly surprised when we went inside. Not lavish, but very clean and trendy (in a beach-goer sort-of-way). Nautical photos on all the walls and dim lighting with candles in small metal buckets were a great touch. I arrived slightly before everyone else, so I took a seat at the bar for a quick happy hour drink while I waited (see pic). I got The one with Bourbon $8. It wasnt very strong and was very sweet with fruit. No description on the HH menu - I just assumed itd be more manly so-to-speak, but it was a pretty fruity blueberry drink. I couldnt even really pick out the bourbon. The bar area was nice, but I wasnt impressed by the cocktail. When my group arrived, we moved over to the dining room. The one with Bourbon was $14, so I passed on a 2nd (HH doesnt apply in the dining room). There, I got the Parma mussels with the calamari appetizer. OMG both were amazing. No complaints there at all. This is the major carrier of the review rating. The food was great, as was our service. Our waitresses were awesome (unfortunately I didnt catch their names otherwise Id be giving them credit here - one kinda looked like the lab tech from NCIS, but younger. If she sees this, I hope that gets a laugh). When we sat, we realized fairly quickly that we were all feeling pretty warm. As soon as we mentioned it to each other, one of the waitresses (possibly the manager?) came by and asked if we just said it was hot - she was thinking the same thing and was on her way to turn down the temp. It was much nicer after that.Food was great. Prices were on the higher side, but it was for nicer seafood, so it made sense. The drink prices could have had a few bucks chopped off though. Theyd probably make up the revenue in increased sales.Nonetheless, I was definitely a fan. If I was a local, Id be back. I dont go to NYC often enough to revisit places quite yet though - gotta keep exploring! -

Big fan of their ceviche as well as of the mussels! I usually like mine pretty simple but their Thai mussels are very tasty! (Though it is definitely an unexpected flavour) I do wish they gave slightly more chips with the ceviche though. -

If you are a mussels fan then go. The only catch is that this experience will ruin you for mussels anywhere else. Not sure how they cook the mussels perfectly ever time but they do. We have been to both locations, village and upper east side. Consistent and delicious. -

Wow this a great place to get a variety of muscles. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of muscles you get for your money. I highly recommend the Main style sauce! The only draw back was the actual bar stools in the front area. They were very uncomfortable...I kept sliding forward on my chair (I was wearing jeans)when trying to rest my back on the backrest. -

If you love shellfish, the limited menu is perfect for you. Most smiling diners seem to have the mussels. They offer roast chicken as the only option for those who cannot eat shellfish due to allergies or taste. Its pretty good, but the chicken is basted in a very salty au jus. -
Review 123 (2015-05-08 - Rating: 5)
Flex Mussels sure know their mussels. Plump, flavorful, deliciously paired with rich sauces, the mussels are excellent. You wont find stringy or fishy here. Fries are equally tasty, though at an additional cost — theyve mastered the art of nickeling and dime-ing their clientele each step of the way. Salads are exceptionally fresh and brightly flavored. Chicken, the only non-seafood item on the menu, is nicely done, though it could use a few more peers in the kitchen (steak frites or similar would be welcome). Lobster rolls are superb. -

Delicious mussel dishes (as they name suggests this is their specialty). We tried the Thai, the Diavolo and the parmeggiano varieties. All of them exceeded our expectations. We also had a lobster roll which was very tasty. Comprehensive wine list. The sorbets we tried were good in taste, less so in texture. Staff was very friendly and attentive. -

Two days ago we went to the restaurant to celebrate my significant others birthday and we had an unforgettable culinary experience! For starters, the oysters were extraordinary - four different types that were all unique and delicious in their own ways.- The Parma mussels and the fluke aguachile were both outstanding! The 1.5 lb lobster and the bouillabaisse were just perfect and made our dinner deliciously reminiscent of the ocean! Such a delightful, fine, and fullfilling sensation! We also had a Celeste Verdejo bottle, a refreshing, perfect match for our seafood. Thank you Flex Mussels for such a phenomenal dinner! Also, thanks to our sever Marcos who guided us through all our courses and shared with us our special night. We are definitely coming back for more inspiring food! -

Went on Saturday with reservation. Took the table upstairs. Service was helpful and friendly. Choose the Parma Mussels (people usually says it’s classic to order with the truffle parmesan fries as well). Use the bread to make it wet with the sauce. It’s delicious. Portion enough for one person. However, if you don’t eat too much I would share it with another person and add to the order oysters as well. Very well satisfied, delivered what I expected. -
Review 152 (2022-01-13 - Rating: 4)
You HAVE to visit during their happy hour. They will serve oysters at $1.5 per piece which is like the price you’d have to pay at whole foods. The happy hour menu would serve a half portion for half the price which means that you can simply try more things on the menu for the same price. They also have drinks on the happy hour menu too. -

Heres a great restaurant that has two major stars of the show: mussels and donuts. There are numerous creative preparations for the mussels, and the two I tried were very tasty. The truffle fries were small, and Id probably just opt for regular fries next time. As impressive as the mussels are, Jewish Hanukkah donuts (Sufganiyah) are even better. They come in a wide array of flavors, and I suggest you try as many different combinations as possible. Also, the cabbage salad was an unsung hero of this meal, an ideal choice for a side. I will absolutely be eating here again. -
