Step into a world of culinary delight at the best meat restaurant in town establish 90 years ago, where your journey begins with a fabulous meat show room right at the entrance. Prepare to be amazed by the finest cuts and exquisite presentation that will tantalize your senses from the moment you walk in.And dont miss out on asking for the incredible waitress, Don, at the bar! 🍹 With a warm smile and unmatched expertise, Don is here to ensure your dining experience is nothing short of extraordinary we had a great Service.Looking to visit their Second Location next to our hometown in Miami.Thank you! 😊 -

Great steak! This is a great steakhouse established in 1927. I ordered a fillet medium-well done. The fillet was cooked as requested and the meat was soft and tasty. Really good! The service was also good, the staff pay attention to ensure the dinner is a good experience for the guests. The only negative aspect is the fact that the place is quite noisy and this can disturb the dinner. -

Went in for lunch on 1/1/2025. Got a seat at the bar with no waiting and was able to get my orders with in 5 minutes after seating. My surf and turf came out 15 minutes later with perfect cooking textures that I like for both my steak and lobster. The home made steak sauce went well with my steak. It was a good experience for me from the staff and the food. -

Real American steakhouse atmosphere.Very kind service. We had the fillet. The steak itself was ok, but nothing special. The home tomato sauce that comes with the steak is too sweet for my taste. However the Mac & Cheese side is amazing!!! -

The best steak I’ve ever had!!! We had the three course meal and I can’t describe enough how tasty it was. We will be definitely going back when we visit NY. It’s a must try but make sure u have a reservation or it’s first comes first sits. -

Absolutely one of my favorite steakhouses in town. I’ve come back at least four times in the past year, which is quite a lot for someone living in a city with so many dining options. The service is truly professional. The servers always know exactly what to say, what to offer, and when to offer it. They strike a perfect balance between showing enthusiasm for their work and giving customers the space to enjoy their food and time with friends or family. The atmosphere is amazing, though it can occasionally be a bit too loud. That said, the dry-aged steak remains one of the best in town. -

This place is an experience. First of all, make a reservation ahead of time.We went for the 3 course lunch. They give you complimentary bread and butter and iced water. The food was exquisite, the fillet mignon melted in your mouth and the key lime pie was so full of flavour.Inside really feels like an old New York style restaurant. The service was nice, everyone was so attentive and did not felt rushed at all.Totally worth it! -
Review 8 (2024-12-31 - Rating: 4)
Atmosphere is exactly what you’d expect in an old school New York steakhouse. Service was good and the food was good just not great. We’ve been to so many steakhouses around the world and if it weren’t for the atmosphere here we would have been very underwhelmed. -

Went here before our Broadway show for a fancy meal. The service was good but the food disappointed. I’ve had better for a lot less. There was just no wow factor that I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The restaurant was fancy enough, the vibe was right and the fresh meat locker was a nice touch. -
Review 10 (2024-08-06 - Rating: 4)
Steak is too big and thick. So they are not much soft but more than chewy. I prefer little bit smaller pieces with lower prices. But servers were very nice -

We had GREAT expectations for this INSTITUTION in Manhattan.... and it did not disappoint... It was our first time there, group of 4 from Canada and it was everything we wanted it to be. We looked at the menu ahead of time, we know what was the price range so we knew what we where getting ourselves into. Rib steak was amazing, oysters were amazing.... if you are a fan of brussel sprouts YOU HAVE TO TAKE A SIDEDISH... I mean if there is only ONE thing you need to eat there... (but that would be crazy since everything is so good) it would be it. We greatly enjoyed our evening. -

I visited Gallaghers Steakhouse after eyeing it for a few years. I am glad when we visited NYC we made a reservation. It is your typical old school steakhouse. Service was impeccable, drinks were classic and food was fantastic. We ordered the Shrimp Cocktail, Cesar Salad, and Claims Casino for appetizers. All of them were great! We then ordered the Strip and Filet for our entrees. Meat was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. For dessert we ordered the baked Alaska which was a special that night. I had never had it but always wanted to try and I am glad we did. I hope to come back soon. -

Nice place to go while youre traveling in the city. this place offers a lunch combo menu at $37. considering the pricy location, this is a steal. chowders are great and filet mignon steaks were ok. -
Review 14 (2024-12-20 - Rating: 5)
Visited here due to lunch menu - you can enjoy full course meal (An appetizer-Main dish-dessert) witb very reasonable price: It only costs $32!Restaurant was quite exotic, staff were so kind and the food was good. Seems like reservation is necessary to have a seat at the hall. (Otherwise you have to sit at the bar) -
Review 15 (2024-12-24 - Rating: 5)
We celebrated my wifes birthday here based on previous reviews of a fantastic experience. Our experience exceeded our expectations. I attempted to make reservations 2 weeks prior to our visit but unfortunately they had no time slots open. Fortunately the hostess that I spoke with told me that if we arrived right when they opened, which was a Saturday, we could get a table.Well, we did just that and there were already about 30 people ahead of us when we arrived early. Although I was anxious about whether or not wed get to enjoy a meal, true to the young ladies recommendation, they had a booth available for us.Our meal was AMAZING!!! It was a life long memory that my wife and I will both remember forever! They even brought her a birthday desert that might have been the best part of our meal!Unbeknownst to us, we werent finished with our experience with Gallaghers..... As part of our fantastic dining experience, we were thankful to have leftovers to take back to the hotel with us. For whatever irrational reason, our hotel didnt offer a microwave to reheat our leftovers the next day. With no other options available, I ended up walking back around the corner to inquire if theyd be willing to reheat our leftovers. As expected, they were more than happy to help us out.Youll never be disappointed with your experience with this amazing steakhouse!!!!Thank you to everyone thats a part of this restaurant. -

Stepping into Gallagher’s Steakhouse in NYC feels like entering a living piece of history, with its classic old New York City charm and vintage style. The atmosphere exudes sophistication, offering a timeless vibe that perfectly complements its storied reputation. The service is consistently attentive, with staff who ensure a seamless dining experience from start to finish. Of course, the highlight is the steak—expertly cooked to perfection and seasoned with precision. The New York strip, in particular, stands out as a quintessential choice, pairing naturally with their creamed spinach to evoke a sense of nostalgia and comfort.Situated in the heart of the theater district, Gallagher’s offers an exceptional steakhouse experience that is both memorable and true to its iconic roots. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned patron, this restaurant delivers a dining experience that feels distinctly and authentically New York. -

Wow! If in New York then this restaurant is a must. Firstly the food is amazing and they give a set menu for $30 and you wont be disappointed. We did spend a lot more but we did have good wine and cocktails. The steak was the best I have ever had ( and I tried a lot) perfectly cooked and seasoned. I had the asparagus soup which I had never had before and it was delicious. The breads assorted were amazing too. I had steak of course for mains then the new york cheesecake also very good. The service was excellent we were seated in a corner which we loved as we could see everything. We felt truly spoiled and blessed with the service we had.The place itself is wow, firstly you walk past the window fridges with all the meats and are met with a very pleasant team to take you to your seat, strongly advise to book first as you would hate to not go as they are very busy. You pass the cocktail lounge to then be seated. The view to see all in the kitchen is amazing. The decor is beautiful, even the toilets with the special touch of cloths to dry your hands on.As I said a must go to , you will not be disappointed. -

Finding in NYC a 3 course meal for $34 seems a fantasy. But not only the price was good but the food was delicious, perfect cooked steak and great cocktails. The atmosphere is very old New York and feels great. The cheesecake was so light and delicious. Great place -

Went here tonight while in NYC for my bday. Food, service, and atmosphere were great! I had the grilled salmon, baked potato, and green beans. It was very good and tasty. Sat upstairs at the bar and the bartender who served my dinner was super funny and personable. I just can’t quite recall his name. I’ll def come back when I’m in NYC again. -

The whole experience was amazing! We had the lunch time special menu, which is an absolute bargain. We booked about 4 weeks in advance for a lunchtime slot. The service from arriving to leaving couldnt be faulted. My steak was faultless. Id definitely recommend dining here, you wont be disappointed! -

My wife and I ate there today to celebrate her birthday. It was just brilliant. The welcome, the atmosphere, the food were so good. Attentive staff made sure we were looked after but without being too in your face or rushed. The beef was cooked to perfection. -
Review 25 (2024-02-01 - Rating: 5)
Epic porterhouse steak! This place might be the epitome of a NYC steakhouse. The dining room is old school and classy, so is the service. I really dig the vibes here. Starters were nice, such as the shrimp cocktail I had. But the true star of the show was the porterhouse for two. A massive cut of dry aged prime beef, masterfully grilled to a spot on medium rare with a perfect crust 🤤 -

My wife and I were very excited to visit and try out Gallaghers Steakhouse. This was our first time here and our experience was amazing. When you first walk in you can feel the history of Gallaghers. The service from being welcomed, seated and served was outstanding. The hosts and waiters were so kind and helpful. We were seated in the corner and got a view of the whole restaurant. The seating was a little tight but we loved it. It felt like we were in a movie. We started off with some cocktails. We both got a Manhattan served neat. They were so good and the whisky they used was a great recommendation from our waiter. We also tried their signature negroni and it was super tasty. We ordered the seafood medley (a tower of seafood), their burrata with roasted red peppers, the famous prime rib, and a side of Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. First the seafood medley was outstanding; the lobster was cooked perfectly as was the shrimp and crab. The clams and oysters served raw were so tasty. I highly recommend ordering this if you can. Next the burrata, it was mind blowing. That fresh creamy milk taste you get from burrata mixed with the taste of the roasted red peppers that is topped with olive oil was astounding. Every bite was addicting, you need to try it as you won’t be disappointed. The Brussels sprouts were good and the mashed potatoes were not our favorite as they just turned into a solid mass of potatoes. The star of the show was the prime rib. Now I know why people in other reviews have said to order it if it is available. We were lucky enough to reserve one. Our waiter was able to reserve one of the last two for us. The steak was cooked to perfection and it was so tender it just fell apart with each bite. My wife and I just kept on eating with giant smiles on our faces. After our amazing meal we had to try the crème brûlée and it was so good. We both didnt speak and just ate and left a clean dish with nothing left. I want to thank Gallaghers again for the amazing food and dining experience. My wife and I will definitely come back and recommend all of our friends to visit. Gallaghers Steakhouse is the place you want to go if you want to experience a proper old school NYC steakhouse that has this beautiful timeless feel. -
Review 28 (2024-03-28 - Rating: 5)
I had a delightful dining experience at this restaurant, enjoying their lunch special with three courses. The soup of the day with beef was great, and the Manhattan clam chowder was good. The sliced fillet mignon with potatoes and sautéed mushrooms was excellent, as was the key lime pie. The cheesecake was also excellent, and the classic atmosphere added to the overall charm of the meal. -

Wow! Visiting Manhattan and on the list was to sample a top New York Sirloin and Gallaghers did not disappoint. Superb service and generous portions meant we left happy customers. -
Review 30 (2024-03-19 - Rating: 4)
We ordered a bunch of things which were all good! Brussel sprouts and Mac and cheese were yum. All I can say is, “you don’t go to a French restaurant and order pasta…you don’t go to steak restaurant and order chicken breast”- get the meat! Drink are great. Good service too. -

One of the best steak house experiences ever. Service was over the top good. Friendly, engaging and on top of everything. Food, well, that was 10x the service. Strip sirloin cooked perfectly.Highlight was the chocolate cake for dessert. So much good food, I had to take it to go 😋 -

We opted for two lunch specials, upgrading to fillet mignon and lamb chops. Both meats were tender and incredibly flavorful. I personally enjoyed the mint sauce with the lamb, although my boyfriend didnt share the same sentiment. Having visited Peter Luger and Wolfgang Steakhouse, I found a higher level of satisfaction at this establishment. I want to revisit here for other cuisines in the future. -

5 Stars! We had the best experience with our server, Carmine. He knew the menu, and he genuinely believed in the food he was recommending. He was very passionate. He was extremely professional, all the way even past the end. My sister accidentally grossly overtipped $220, and he could have easily kept the money. Instead, he pointed out the mistake to her and asked her to correct it. Honesty is a rare trait these days, especially in New York City. Gallaghers is the best. And Carmine is the best. The Best! -

10/10 overall experienceBest steak I’ve ever had in NYCWe ordered Lunch specials for $32 +$18(for 10oz.)It’s Sunday, so, lunch specials menu is available all the time.I don’t know their lunch specials steak is dry aged or not. It’s tested delicious. Maybe it’s dry aged.Lunch time is kind hard to get a table, without reservations, we waited like 15-20 mins. Better get reservations anyway.Highly recommended. Nice steakhouse -

The meats were amazing. Highly recommend the Porterhouse, we were 4x adults but didn’t even finish the Porterhouse for 3x people. French onion soup with the crouton beneath the cheese was a great starter.Worth every penny and the service stands its reputation. -

Went to Gallaghers for a late lunch. It was everything a great steakhouse should be. It was very easy to make a reservation on Open Table. The service was world class, and I mean every single person. The food was beyond excellent. The beef soup was absolutely delicious, with a hint of red wine. I had the 10oz filet and it was cooked to perfection. My wife had the lamb chops, also perfect. An added plus is that the bar stocked Sailor Jerrys rum. Not every place has it, so extra points for that. A nice healthy pour was also given.World class service and cuisine. -
Review 47 (2023-09-21 - Rating: 4)
Came here for dinner. Had the shrimp and lobster dumplings to start. They were delicious! For dinner I had the filet and my husband had the rib eye and we had the garlic butter. Both were good! However, we have gone to many steakhouses and this one didn’t necessarily stand out. Don’t get me wrong - it was delicious. But we have been to other steakhouses with a little better steak for cheaper. It was just a bit over priced. The service was outstanding! They gave us a free dessert as we were on our honeymoon which was very sweet. -

Gallaghers Steakhouse in NYC is a paradise for steak lovers! The Tomahawk steak is a masterpiece – juicy, perfectly seasoned, and a delight for any carnivore. Add in the seafood medley for a surf-and-turf extravaganza thats truly exceptional. With a classic steakhouse vibe and attentive staff, its a haven for those who crave top-tier steaks and delectable seafood. Its great to hear that Gallaghers Steakhouse, despite being expensive[ $150/person :) ], offers high-quality food and excellent service, making it a worthwhile choice for special occasions. Celebrating with a memorable dining experience adds to the overall value. -

One and only place to have the best steak. I tried multiple times, and every time is so wonderful. The service is also top-notch. Each and every item is so wonderful. I tried almost every item on their menu, everything is so delicious. I tried in multiple places but it was not that great. If you want to try the best steak with wonderful service this is the only place. They do have Pappy van winkle also. -

Beautiful! This is the best steakhouse in town! Had the lunch special and it is an absolute steal! The staff are funny and the service is fast. The steak was so tender and the mac and cheese was tasty! The NY Cheesecake had a strong amount of cinnamon but actually worked really well. I wish I visited earlier. I really would eat here everyday! -

We went to Gallaghers before a show on the recommendation of a client who lives in the city. We probably had our hopes a bit too high considering we’re from an area known for great steaks and I grew up on a beef cattle farm. The atmosphere and server were amazing, but the steak was average at best. We ordered a bone in filet special- was cooked to perfect temp but was a bit tough- not the buttery filets we’re accustomed to at that price. The swordfish was absolutely delicious, which was an unexpected surprise! We were a somewhat small ticket and our server was a bit absent (I have friends in a restaurant business so I understand and wasn’t offended… it is what it is!) but we ran out of time for dessert. Go to Gallaghers, have wine, chat and order a few things to share for the experience! Overall, it was a relaxing and beautiful evening and we enjoyed the ambiance of the iconic New steakhouse. -

Review 54 (2022-10-23 - Rating: 5)
We made reservations for Monday night before a show. It was very busy so we were glad to have a reservation. We were met at the door with friendly faces and an enormous meat locker. What a nice start to a wonderful meal. Even though the staff was very busy and moving very quickly, they still managed to be very attentive, efficient and make us feel like family. It definitely has an old school steakhouse feeling with old school service. We arrived early and sat at the bar for some drinks before our reservation. The cocktails were unique and very tasty. We were taken to our table right on time and sat near the kitchen. Usually I would not want to be near the kitchen but in this case it was entertaining to see the magic in making our steaks. We went all out during our meal and had two appetizers, two side dishes, shared a porterhouse and a bottle of wine. This meal was about $500. The food was really good but not the best ever; however, combined with great service and the cool old school feeling, I’m giving it the five star rating. I will say, the wine selection was varied and unique and had a variety of price points. I’m glad we chose this place and would return. -

We walked in on a Saturday afternoon without a reservation and sat at the bar for lunch and drinks. Our bartenders/servers, Danny and Tony, were very engaging and provided A-1 service. and We chose three course prix fixe meals that were ample and delicious. If the walls could speak, all of the photos on the walls would tell wonderful stories of all the famous people who have graced the premises. -

I absolutely recommended it! -

One of the best steakhouses Ive been to in my life. Upon entering, you can feel the relaxing atmosphere. We ordered the steak tartare to begin with. It was made with the traditional style in that it is more greasy but still very smooth to take. Then we had our main dish, the porterhouse. Upon serving, it was already sliced. The server picked one slice from each side of the bone and let you taste it. You can see that the surface was grilled to a beautiful color and the moment you grab one slice, you know its crispy. There are many ways to enjoy the steak. You can taste it plainly first to enjoy the original flavor of the meat. Then, you can add a pinch of salt and pepper. Finally, you can try their steak sauce. The sweetness of the sauce is a great combination with the sweetness of steak juice. We didnt order sides but they looked delicious as well. -
Review 59 (2023-12-26 - Rating: 5)
I went for the lunch special+ $18 upgrade for the filet mignon. Asked for a medium tree but they gave me rare. But the steak was delicious. The crust was wonderfully seasoned and was super tender. The tomato steak sauce was a great compliment to the steak with a bit of acidity that helped make the steak go down easier. The bread was probably the worst part of the meal. Soup and dessert was good but nothing spectacular. I would say for $50 that I spend. It was the best filet mignon meal I had. -

Review 61 (2023-08-16 - Rating: 5)
Im not a steak connoisseur and ordered shrimp, but my husband and son ordered the steaks. Filet mignon was very good & tender. Sirloin steaks always have fat so it was fatty, chewy..I dont like chewy food and meat is chewy. We rarely go to steak houses because I hate steak, but my guys like red meat.My shrimp was good, creamed spinach was good, but I didnt like the macaroni and cheese, which tasted bland. Probably one of the best things for me was the bread and salty butter. However, the entire experience of eating in this restaurant was excellent because of the service and restaurant atmosphere. Waiter actually seemed genuinely happy and the manager was very nice, happy and interacted with us 3 times. Ive had horrific service over $7 kiwis at Costco and usually ho hum service at 95% of our restaurant experiences so to see attentive staff is great. Entire atmosphere of dark wood, jazz music, etc added to this NY restaurants awesome ambience.Spent about $300, including tip for 3, no drinks. We are family of color, but did not experience racism like I read about in the 1 star reviews here regarding racism. Restaurants should not be racist when 65% of NYC appears to be full of non whites. Only important color is GREEN. -

Top notch Steakhouse with exceptional customer service and quality food. We ordered the seasonal Oysters which were very fresh and tasted great, I wish they sold Oysters in quantities larger than 6. We also had the Beef Tartare which was okay, definitely should have come with more toast. I had the Ribeye Steak and it was the best steak Ive ever had. Mine was cooked a perfect medium rare and the mashed potato were a perfect side. I had a Dirty Gin Martini that was good and an Old Fashioned which was amazing. -

Fun NYC spot. Walls lined with photos and staff dressed in great uniforms to give everything an old school establishment feel. The porterhouse is worth the price tag and commitment. Oysters are great. Calamari is just okay.Grab a drink, grab a steak, enjoy the ambiance. -

The service from the wait staff is extremely good. Always around but never intrusive and helped with recommendations for our order. The jumbo lump crab cake was amazing. Beef tartare uses minced rather than hand-chopped beef so while it lacks the texture, it’s still well season and tasted great. The fillet mignon was a bit disappoint however. Ordered it medium rare and it came more medium to medium well. Still was a decent steak though. Worth a visit if in the area. -

The lunch 3-course meal is great food at a reasonable price. The soup of the day was potato leek soup. The lamb chops required +$15 surcharge. Served with mint jelly. Great food. A lot of food, didnt even finish the dessert. -

Was in New York for the first time and was keen to try the best steak houses in NYC. Gallaghers caught my eye and I made an early reservation for dinner on the day I landed. Boy, I’m glad I made a reservation coz the restaurant was fully packed and it was just a Monday! We had the New York sirloin done medium rare and the steak was cooked to perfection. I would have liked a bit more sear but that would be too picky. My wife had the shrimps which were huge.Service was impeccable and the waiter was constantly checking if I need anything else. The only thing that I could fault is that the tables along the sofa were very close together. You practically have to shift the table for the person seating on the sofa to get out. The restaurant is huge so to be so crowded could only mean that Gallaghers is good. -

What a phenomenal meal! We went for lunch and got the 3 course meal for which I chose the cesar salad, filet and the key lime pie. We were in a rush to get to a show, so they boxed up our desserts and even included napkins, fork, knife which came in handy as we were staying in a hotel. The steak was cooked perfectly! So much flavor. Highly recommend if you want a full meal that wont break the bank. It is by far one of the best steaks I have had and it was not at a typical NYC price. I almost forgot - whatever the sauce was they they gave us was fantastic! It is a chefs secret so the waiter couldnt tell us exactly what was in it - but man, I could drink a shot of it as a beverage it was so good!!! -

Hands down one of the best meals we have ever had. We had oysters, Porterhouse steak & Lobster, followed by chocolate layer cake & strawberry baked Alaska. Let’s start with the service, impeccable from the moment we walked in, the food was simply delicious, the steak was cooked to perfection. The oysters (go for east coast, obviously), were among the best I’ve ever eaten. The baked Alaska was 👌. All in all an amazing experience which we all loved. If you are fortunate enough to be in NYC, do yourself a favour and treat yourselves. -

Set lunch is really value for money. For just ~$80 (including tips and tax) you get one starter, one main and a dessert. The soup was alright, I upgraded my main to a steak and it was not as good as I hoped. It didnt have enough char and it was too rare and underseasoned. The lemon pie was pretty good to end things off. Despite the steak which was pretty lackluster, I cant really complain much given its price. -

This is the second time in recent months that I have been ti Gallagher’s for lunch. The Food is fantastic as is the service. In addition, as far as I am concerned, they have the best price fixed lunch offering in NYC. It is perfect for a pre or post theater meal. -

Fabulous food, staff & atmosphere. Most friendly staff in NYC, everyone from bartenders to waiters were amazing. Only called in to see if we could get a table, it was really busy but after waiting at the bar for 10 minutes they found us a table right next to the owner who was eating with a friend. What a total gentleman & lovely guy! One of the best meals weve ever had! -

Fabulous old time steak house in the heart of the theater district. Service was excellent and just what you would expect of a restaurant of this caliber. Steak, shrimp, sides and dessert were culinary perfection. The Atmosphere is warm, classy and inviting with its dark wood paneling, red leather Booths. Do not hesitate to try! We will be back. -

I went there with my friends on 19/Nov/2024 at 13:30 and paid 89.27 dollars by card. The food and wine were good and the service was also good. I left tips by cash. But I found that 15 dollars had been charged and withdrawed again on 22/Nov/2024. My company was 3 and the bill was split. And only I that pay the tips by cash. I want to get a refund of this. -

I really loved the vibe. The cut filet was amazing and so was the cheesecake. We sat at the bar, our bartender was great. The only thing that keeps this from being 5⭐: The fact that it took forever to get our food, and my husbands food came out five or so minutes after mine. -

Excellent restaurant trace before seeing a Broadway play. Be prepared to sit very close to your neighbors, so make friends that is that we had it doing. It actually turned out to be a Phenomenal evening with new friends we made for Michigan. Stefon clearly an amazing waiter and I knew he was from Paris right away, and we made jokes about it, and he ended up being a phenomenal server. -

This is a very famous steakhouse. Just look at how much beef is displayed in their fridge, and youll know how fresh their meat is every day. Its consistently delicious! You can also see how beautiful the meat looks; when cut open, it’s a vibrant red. Highly recommended! -

This steakhouse has an incredible classic Manhattan feel — in a lot of ways, that by itself makes it an easy recommendation. Our server literally looked and sounded like Frank Pesci. In terms of steak, my friend and I both enjoyed our Porterhouse for two. I think overall we liked Peter Luger’s better. We tried out the sweet potatoes mash but we’d skip if coming back again. Clams Oregetano was good. -

Classic steak house in the middle of the theatre district. Was very busy during lunch, but fortunately had a reservation. Didn’t expect much but everyone said the lunch specials were a must try and everyone was right for a change. The three of us ordered the lunch specials. One with filet upgrade, one chicken and one salmon. Also added the Mac and cheese and a few adult drinks. Everything was amazing. The Manhattan clam chowder and beef with lentil (soup of the day) were both really really good. Mains were all great as well and finally desserts were perfect end to our meals. This coming from a non sweets person. Cheesecake was the best I’ve ever had, but admit, don’t try many. Key lime pie was pretty good as well. Finally the service. Was not quite the white glove you would expect from a steakhouse, but I found the NY steakhouse are a bit more casual and frankly preferred. Who wants a pompous waiter/waitress when your trying to have a fun meal. Servers here were prompt, friendly and fun. What more can you ask for!Pro tip: reservations were at 1pm on Sat afternoon, but when left around 3pm, was pretty empty. May be the best time to walk in if you don’t have a reservation.Get the lunch special, any entree, and try the chowder!!!!! -

Wow, can this be true? At this price in New York? The quality, portion, service, ambience, everything was excellent and the lunch special price was exceptional. We had three-course lunch: filet mignons, soups and salad for appetizers, and icecream, cheesecake and the key lime pie. All delicious! The bread before the meal was super tasty as well! -

Last day in NY we had our launch here. It was suggested by many guides, so we came here with high expectations. The food was wonderful. We had a porterhouse shared in 2 and 2 menus with salad as a starter, sliced fillet and cheesecake at the end. The waiters are very nice and polite and make you feel very welcome. Strongly recommended if you love meat! -

Amazing dinner, our service was amazing. However, towards the end of our dinner after paying our check, we were stopped by a a server who was not ours rudely checking to make sure we paid our check, approaching my boyfriend with “hey buddy”. Not sure if it was because we are a young couple or what but was truly upset about the end of our great dinner. -

Gallaghers is such a lovely restaurant. The first time i visited was Oct of 2020. The restaurant was boarderline empty and every two tables were off limits due to COVID restrictions.I recently revisited. This time around the restaurant was packed!! No more restrictions.I was seated towards the back of the restaurant this time. I had full view of the kitchen and coffee machines. I never got to see this side of the restaurant before. It was absolutely beautiful.Although it was a busy night, service was on point. They had multiple individuals assisting us, which i love. For the most part, things moved quickly.I ended up ordering six raw oysters (3 west and 3 east coast) all delicious. I also had the crab cake which is my FAVORITE here. The complimentary bread is delicious, the pumpkin loaf I would purchase if they sold it. Soooo fantastic, soft, great flavor, just overall the best. Both my husband and i got the rib eye steak. He had his steak topped with jumbo lump crab meat. Now, the sides leave alot to be desired here. We got a side of mushrooms again because during our first visit, they were really good. This time around the mushrooms were just as good. We took a gamble and decided to get another side which was a special for the day. It was mac and cheese. It was not good at allll. Dont get it, EVER. It did not even taste like cheese. I felt like the cheese sauce was made with bland butternut squash or something. It barely had any flavor, we didnt eat it. Last time around we got the mash potatoes and i should of gotten that again. Last time i also had the creamed spinach and that also wasnt good, i wouldnt order it. It needed more cream, more cheese and more flavor. We decided to order dessert. My husband got the cream brulle. It was really good. I let the waiter know that it was my husbands birthday and they gave him a complimentary chocolate cake with a candle and sang to him. That was such a nice touch and truly made ME very happy.Overall i love this place. They are known for their Steaks and i understand WHY. The steaks are always well seasoned, perfectly cooked and layered with butter (so true. You can literally taste the butter). Again the crab cake is a absolute MUST try. I cannot wait to return here. -

Good value and taste for a great quality of food. A bottle of wine or champagne will add another level of joy.Lunch course has great value. The price has gone up a bit due to inflation. With additional charge of 18 dollars, you’ll have a good generous fillet mignon. Lamb chop otoh has relatively small portion. -

Excellent steakhouse. We stopped for lunch during a day out in the city. We did not have a reservation but, thankfully, we were able to get a table. Old school steakhouse vibe with classic offerings. Our appetizers consisted of fried calamari, crab cake and Caesar salad. The calamari was lighted breaded, crispy and tender. The crab cake was very flavorful and the side cucumber salad was a pleasant addition.Enjoyed the NY strip steak as well as the filet mignon. Their steak sauce complimented the steak with added sweetness, although the steak held its own flavor. The baked potato and asparagus sides were typical.Too full for dessert, but what we saw come out to other tables looked great. The service was excellent, our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. He addressed allergy concerns and made sure we were safe with ordering. We will definitely be back! -

Been to about 8 different steakhouses in New York over the past 20 years and this is now TOPS.Ordered ribeye and it comes on the bone. Loved the presentation. The winning touch was that every bite has a lovely crispy char. In addition, I asked for pink center and that’s what I got.My buddy was not so lucky with his filet mignon that was ordered medium rare and overcooked. Too bad for him.Service was immaculate considering we were Asians so good job to an awesome meal -

This is one of the best steaks I have eaten. If not the best. This legendary steakhouse still has its own unique decor. With their dark, rich wooden colors and 50s style charm. The service was great from the young lady who sat us down to the bartenders and waiters. Not to mention, the steaks were amazing. There are plenty of delicious sides to choose from. My favorites are the Pecan and Keylime pie . Perfect situated in Midtown Manhattan. We had a great experience. Will be back soon. -

What an amazing place! Went to Gallaghers with my mom and my brother and we had dinner to remember. From Sunday greeting us at the entrance, being very professional but also conversational and warm, to Paul at the bar who was cracking jokes with us and had great recommendations for cocktails (try their 52 old fashion). We were then seated at our table and our server was Alberto - he is an absolute legend. I wish I could describe him, but if you get him to serve the table, you’ll love him trust me. The food was amazing - file mignon with their sauce is out of this world, my brother had rib steak and my mom had lamb chops and it was all amazing. Creamed spinach and mashed potatoes (the usual suspects) were great too. Finally, the atmosphere was very authentic old ny style, which we loved. Coming back for sure. -

Classic traditional steakhouse. Not sure why this was my first time here in so many years and so many steakhouses…..it was definitely top quality and great steakhouse. Wont be disappointed. Rib Steak was perfect. Ate so much and barely able to walk home as I didnt realize how much I ate, the ultimate test and result of a steakhouse, Must try the homemade bread and French Onion soup to start -

Good service from Anibal. The steaks were excellent, dry aged then grilled over hickory. My ribeye tasted great but it was over cooked to medium well when I asked for medium rare. The chef threw in a complimentary fruit platter and cake for dessert. One steak and a side split between two or three people is definitely enough for a meal. -

I had lunch course including appetizer, main and dessert. It was reasonable but good dishes. But appetizer (soup) and steak sauce they gave to us were not that much good (sauce was too sour...) but filet mignon and icecream were quite good. Good place to enjoy dishes and feel cozy and lovely atmosphere. I hope to visit here again in my next trip. -

Old school NY steakhouse. Worth a visit for sure! Random, but try their steak sauce its the best Ive ever had. Excellent service too if you have a show they will keep you on track! My only issue is the seats are so close in some parts. You can end up talking to your neighbor. Which can be fun. But this is not the spot for an intimate dinner. Keep that in mind if it is what youre looking for.Not pictured a bang on Gin Martini with Bleu cheese olives. -

Classic steak house with very kind woman receptionist. There were two people at the door greeting one man and woman. The woman was exceptionally kind and helpful. We visited around the Valentine’s Day with a stroller and found out that we can’t bring in the stroller. The woman assisted us whole heartedly and was very helpful throughout us unpacking from the stroller to get inside. The food was good but the real kindness at the entrance made the whole experience to the next level. -

I have to say, I am so impressed by this restaurant. We arrived a bit early (party of four) but it was no problem at all. We were greeted at the door by a helpful man, who checked us in then quickly shown to our table which was a booth. We were then greeted by our waiter who was first class, very witty, knowledgeable and friendly. He had a very confident manner and I knew right from that point we were going to be well looked after. I didnt catch his name but you will know if he serves you, the guy with the glasses and came across very professional and courteous. He knew everything about everything and said if we cant find what we want he will be able to help us, just ask.The drinks came in no time at all and were delicious. I had been recommended the surf and turf by the waiter which was a fillet mignon and lobster for 79 dollars. Its officially the best meal I have ever had. We also ordered lots of sides and they were all superb. The bill came to 450 dollars all in and it was worth every penny. I will be telling anybody I know whos heading to New York to head to Gallaghers from now on. Thanks for a fantastic evening we will be back. -

I finally got to try this NYC steakhouse institution for a friend’s birthday, and I was impressed! Definitely worthy of its place among the city’s best steakhouses. As you walk in, you instantly know you’re in a meat eater’s paradise, passing by an enormous dry aging room that had me salivating. The place is spacious and being located near Broadway, the restaurant plays to that with nearly every inch of wall-space covered with photos theater legends. Service as one would expect was exceptional and even at 11pm at night the place was buzzing. Never too late in this town for a good steak! And the food was outstanding! The steaks - we got a porterhouse for four and tomahawk for two - we’re perfectly seasoned, tender and full of flavor. In hindsight, maybe a bit too much for six people alongside all the delicious sides, but we powered through! We capped it off with an assortment of desserts, of which the cheesecake was my favorite. An outstanding dinner! I’d definitely return! -

On my last night in NYC, at least this year, I had planned to treat myself to dinner in a really nice restaurant. This time, I chose Gallaghers Steakhouse. Ive walked passed this place so many times on previous New York trips for quite a few years and that meat locker display always gets me. Finally snagged a reservation and here I went. And they did not dissapoint. I was seated right away, although being a solo diner, it was tad akward being placed in the middle of 2 couples. Ah well. Wait staff were just the right amount of attentive. Ordered the Shrimp and Lobster Dumplings for appetizer. For the main, I had the Rib Steak, medium rare of course, with a side of Sauteed Spinach. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Did not need the sauce provided. (people who order well done steak are so wrong on so many levels) Pecan Pie for dessert. Didnt think I could finish everything but I did. Ha! I will face the consequences later. Do try this place, it is well worth it. -

TBO the steak is not that good, i love dry age beef and i ate a lot, I think it doesnt have the dry age flavor I love. Even the ones i bought from Hmart has more dry age flavor imo. But the texture and tenderness are really good. The fried squid are pretty good. The service is awesome, but it took us some time waiting for the steak. They gave me a free cake for my birthday which is pretty heartwarming ☺️ -

We received absolutely wonderful service and enjoyed spectacular food. Our server was very kind and checked in on us on a frequent enough basis. The food tasted wonderful. We ordered a steak for two medium and one medium well, both cooked to perfection. The Mac and cheese tasted wonderful, the calamari crunchy and tasted fresh, the cream spinach more on the spinach side, and the deserts were absolutely divine. After a day at work, getting to enjoy such spectacular food was an absolute treat. -

This is mixed because the first time days prior, their Cowboy Ribeye was phenomenal (9.5 rating)! You could cut it with a spoon. Picture attached. The second go around a couple of days later, two steaks were dry and tougher than previously (5 rating)The manager was very professional and accommodating, and offered us two desserts, (Crem Brule a 7 rating - the top was soft and not crusty) and (Sticky Cake an 8 rating) yet they still charged us for the mashed potatoes... Yes, I ate it because I was starving and waiting for each steak.French Onion Soup (8 Rating)... I did have to request cheese on top. How they cook it, the cheese is at the bottom of the bowl... Most likely because cheese is not on top of crouton/bread.Cesar Salad (8) was a decent size. Wish the dressing had a little more pep.Bread (8)Butter (7)Tea (9)Water (7)Wine Steak Sauce (4)The atmosphere is darker in the back... The dining areas in the front seem more lively and inviting. The back dining was almost enclosed and voices echoed off walls dominating conversation on both evenings.Service was fine, better the first time around, the second time around, they changed up their attitude when we sent back steaks... We still left over 20% gratuity on the original ticket price. -

I really enjoyed eating here. Better that keens. The porterhouse steak is well salted. It’s weird I really enjoyed the ice tea, maybe it was the fresh mint. I do not know and it is a really random thing to enjoy but this place does pay attention to detail. Which is number one in my book. I had a lot of fun watching the two gentlemen cook/grill the steaks. The restrooms are really clean! I would say this is a must to place to eat -

Absolutely delicious food and atmosphere at this old school style steakhouse. It’s so warm and inviting. The bar area is beautiful, would love to sit here next time. My husband and I were seated in a cozy table in the main dining room- loved it! The service was great. Cocktails excellent. For food, we ordered the porterhouse for two, creamed spinach, and Mac and cheese. Everything was absolutely delicious!! We got a chocolate layer cake to go. Gallagher’s may be my favorite steakhouse in NYC- loved it. -

Little expensive but extremely nice place. Steaks were spot on and large (we all chose medium filet/sirloin). Sides are big enough to share, although we saw others with onion rings which I would have chosen retrospectively. Waiters very well presented, funny and professional (Melvin and Adam taking care of us). Everything is very clean and up to standard. All of this summarised is why you should pay that bit extra to come here! -

A 4.5 all day but you know google. The first thing I will say about this place is that their lunch special MAKES NO SENSE! I cannot believe what we got AND the price. If you’re going to go here for the first time, go for lunch and get the special so you can sample a bunch of things they have to offer AND not kill your wallet. $34 for filet mignon, mushrooms, crispy fried potatoes, a Caesar salad AND a giant piece of key lime pie?! That’s insane. The second thing I will say is that the creamed spinach (which I think is the best side dish to go with a steak) is the best creamed spinach I’ve ever had. Wow, I’d go back just for that. I decided to go with a medium rare one in rib steak and was not disappointed. The char on it was wonderful. Just needed a little bit of salt to bring out the flavor a bit and it was damn near perfect. I’m not a fan of key lime but the gf LOVED it. I loved the ambience and music and the staff was top notch. I was not a fan of the steak sauce but im really not a fan of putting any sauces on my steak so make sure to at least try it. The gf loved that as well. Can’t wait to go back. -

Great steak, top services, we felt welcomed by everyone working at the restaurant and nicely served by our servers. Our reservation was 4:30pm and the restaurant was already full at the time. One slight con is the side mushroom dish was very salty. -

Gallagher’s is my favorite fine yet casual dining spot in New York City. I’ve been 5 or 6 times, and everything I’ve ever had has been wonderful. The service is great, staff is kind, and I love the feel inside—almost like a step back to the golden days of the City that you see in movies. A wonderful pre or post theatre meal as well. And you might spot a celebrity or two. -

Reserved for Sunday lunch for 5 at noon. Kids went ahead and we came in 30 minutes after due to rains and traffic. Hosts held our reservation and took care of our kids. Amazing! Apart from impeccable service, food was top notch and the best cheesecake we’ve had in NYC. Will definitely come back! -

The level of service was beyond expectations. This experience was for my husbands birthday and our waitstaff Adam and Seng (sp?) were attentive yet unintrusive. Their knowledge of the menu was excellent. I asked how the brussels sprouts were prepared and the description was perfect. We had the tomahawk steak, medium rare which was cooked perfectly. I closed my eyes with every bite to savor the flavors and textures. Our sides were mashed potatoes, grilled onions and brussels sprouts and the family style portions were huge . At the end of our meal, we were surprised with a truly decadent chocolate cake topped with a lit candle. I had mentioned to my husband that he didnt have birthday cake on his special day and they made it happen. I didnt even ask. My mind was blown and my heart was full. Thank you so much for the delicious food and world class service. I cant wait to read your book Adam. Thank you and Seng for making our birthday trip extra special and memorable. Blessings 😇 -

Classic steakhouse with aged meats and a big variety of cuts. We had the Porterhouse for 2, it was succulent but came a bit cold in the inside. The side dishes are way too big and food waste must be huge. The service was extremely friendly. Good option for meat lovers. For started we had crabcake, it was delicious. -

Our experience at Gallaghers started off poorly but ended on a high note thanks to Sunday, our exceptional hostess. We initially sat at the second-floor bar with Don, who was shockingly rude when we politely asked for sodas. Despite the bar being completely empty, he acted as if we didn’t matter. His dismissive and unprofessional behavior made us feel so unwelcome that we were ready to leave. As we headed out, Sunday stopped us at the door and kindly asked why we were leaving. After hearing about our experience, she immediately moved us to the lower bar, where Leo provided the attentive and excellent service we expected. Sunday’s warmth, professionalism, and quick action completely turned the evening around—so much so that we booked another night at Gallaghers because of her.Sunday is a true gem and an asset to Gallaghers. Don, however, seriously tarnished the experience and should reassess how he treats guests. -

Came here for my husbands birthday and want to say. WOW. Service was great (Adam and Sang- thank you); food was phenomenal. Our drinks: old fashioneds as recommended by Adam were delicious.Ok so I want to double back to the food: specials were enticing but we had our minds made up before coming: oysters, crabcake, porterhouse for 2 and mashed potatoes. Two things we added were steak tartare and mac and cheese. Oysters were superb, crab cake was so full of jumbo crab (yum) and tartare was so tasty and portioned to the little toasts just right. To the steak... Weve been disappointed by steakhouses the past few months, in NY and others weve visited out of state. All shall remain nameless in case they were having an off night. I want to just say: the steak at Gallaghers did not dissapoint. First the way they served it, explaining the sides and plating a few pieces for us was just a nice touch (Nd perfect for Instagram). But the steak itself... absolutely perfect. I cant think of a single negative. Nice crisp char on the outside, perfectly rare on the inside. The filet was melt in your mouth and the sirloin was great. Thank you Adam and Sang, again, for making us feel extra special. Even the hosts wished Ben happy birthday on our way out. We look forward to seeing you again when we come back. -

Excellent anniversary meal - one suggestion - dining room was too cold - saw a lady trying to cover up with a napkin - dining room temperature should be set for the comfort of the guest, not the working employees. Jose did a great job - Christopher made few appearances but was pleasant. -

This will seem like a paid ad but I assure you it’s not … I spent a week in nyc and aimed to try as many 4+ star restaurants as possible. In the end I think I tried 15 restaurants over the week. All were good, but Gallaghers was perfect and by far the best in all categories: food, service, atmosphere and value.I can’t wait to go back. -

I had never been to Gallaghers. I decided to treat my boyfriend and son to dinner on 4/16/2022. Making reservations was easy. First time experience was a success. Juan the waiter was awesome! He made great suggestions and he was professional throughout. My boyfriend likes his steak medium well but he still likes it juicy so hes always hesitant to order medium as he doesnt like blood in his meat. Juan suggested the medium steak and to our surprise he had the cheff cook it medium plus (something like that). We had never heard of such a thing but my boyfriend enjoyed his steak. It was slightly red, no blood and juicy! My steak was cooked medium and it was so juicy. The outside had a crust that tasted so delicious. The sides feed about 2 people. We ordered calamari, mash potatoes, French fries, macaroni and cheese, and asparagus. Nothing disappointed. I really wanted to try the chicken gumbo but we already had so much food. Well definitely return. My boys enjoyed their meal. Thank you Juan for the great experience. -

So let me start off by saying that this was one of the best Thanksgivings Ive had in many years. The best food, the best company and the best experience. If you want the best steak and service in NYC then come to Gallaghers. We both had ribeye bone in and sides. How can you make mushrooms taste as good as the steak? Who knows but I was in heaven the whole time. We were treated like VIP the moment we came in and had excellent service and food. In the end the steak won but I gave it a good fight. This is an amazing place with history and ambiance that will put a memory in your mind for a lifetime. -

For someone not from New York and has rarely been to anything that can be called a steakhouse, this was an experience. The porterhouse was excellent. Enough said.I had also completely forgot that I requested that the restaurant could somehow celebrate my SOs birthday, and they did it with a chocolate foundant that was one of the best weve ever had. We were full from the main course but this one slid down easily. Our servers were old school witty, adequate chatty and super attentive. -

Had amazing experience here. Great services. Awesome food. The dry aged steaks are displayed in their room facing the street and those are the ones they serve you! Had the dry aged, bone in filet mignon and that was the best steak I’ve ever had and I’m from Alberta! The seafood platter was HUGE and was very fresh. The sides don’t come with the entree but they’re definitely meant for sharing since th portions are very generous! -

Service is exceptional! Couldnt ask for better service. The waiters were on point and very attentive to our every need. Steak was cooked perfect. Was really hoping for a Tomahawk but was told none were available because they were aging. I guess I just assumed it was on a rotation. I dont pretend to know the process so this is not a complaint in any way. Porterhouse for 2 was amazing. Carpaccio was perfect. Definitely a great experience. If I had to pick one issue. Our waiter basically stood leaning on our booth while we ate. It made it very hard to have any personal conversations knowing he was within ear shot. I would definitely return -

Cannot recommend this place enough for its lunchtime set menu. Only $29 for 3 courses, which I thought would be unheard of in such an expensive city. And the food was just delicious. I’m not usually a fan of steak but it was perfectly cooked and savoured every bite. The potatoes were also delicious. The servers were all very friendly and made us feel welcome. Had a classic 20’s New York atmosphere which also added to the experience. We showed up without a reservation which worried us as it seemed very busy, but they managed to fit us in. Seemed to be serving a lot of the pre-theatre crowd as by 2pm it had emptied out. -

The dining experience at this New York steak restaurant was fantastic! We started with the shrimp and lobster dumplings, which were simply amazing and highly recommended. For drinks, we chose a bottle of HONG Napa Valley Cabernet—a perfect choice for any red wine lover. Both of our steaks were cooked to perfection. One unique feature is the open kitchen, where you can watch the chef in action, which adds to the experience. Despite being an upscale restaurant, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, without a strict dress code. If youre in New York and craving a great steak, this place is a must-visit! -

Wow, Gallaghers steakhouse was impressive. Came here for a birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. When you walk in, you immediately see the meat locker full of dry aged steaks, which gives you a preview of the fantastic meal to come. For appetizers, we ordered the jumbo shrimp cocktail, jumbo lump crab cake, dozen oysters, dozen Littleneck clams, thick cut bacon, baked clams oreganata, sautéed spinach, creamed spinach and hash browns.Main course, we ordered the Porterhouse for six, medium rare of course. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate layer cake, NY cheesecake, pecan pie, key lime pie and banana split.Geez we ate like kings that night lol everything was expertly prepared, and the service was exceptional. Will definitely come back for special occasions and especially great for large groups. Well done Gallaghers! -

I had the soup of the day which was a savory crab gazpacho. I paired it with Gallaghers Rob Roy cocktail, I was a bit disappointed. I expected the cocktail to have a better garnish. The orange wedge didnt do much to enhance the cocktails flavor. For the main course I had the Short Ribs of beef. The sauce was exquisite, the mash potatoes are a must have. Amazing NY style cheesecake and great coffee for an afternoon pick me up. Staff was impeccable. Overall a great experience. -

Delicious steak, great ambiance. You must try the Bone Marrow Crust. Its the first non-gimicky non-disrespectful steak topping Ive ever had. And probably the best old fashioned I have ever had. The only issue I would point out was presentation. Crowded plates and our crab cakes came out with sauce slathered on the plate carelessly. Besides that everything was amazing. -

Great experience!Came here with my parents. The server showed good old-fashioned gentleman manner. On-point service and gave good recommendations throughout. The bread served was good. I liked the walnut cake especially. And the Caesar salad was well-seasoned - I can taste the sesame, vinegar and lemon. And the crab cake accompanied by the cucumber salad, yummy! We got the classic filet mignon and the ribeye, both medium done. I prefer the filet more than the ribeye as the ribeye was a little on the rare side. The classic sauce got a light tomato flavor which was good, but steak still goes the best with salt and pepper. Good steaks overall.Got a 2014 red wine by the glass. Pretty decent and matches well with the steaks. -

I went with the $32 lunch special, but upgraded to a 10oz fillet for another $18. My steak was grilled perfectly medium rare. It was tasty and not overly spiced. The soup, sides, and cheesecake also delicious. Service was good and the food arrived promptly. It was $50 well spent. Much better than Peter Luger. -
