    After 11 years, we returned to the restaurant. We got the same table. The food was good and the pitch of sangria was good too. The service was great. I was impressed by Israel how well he handled my complain about the “ Tres leches” desert (Horrible and extremely expensive) other than that I definitely recommend this place to others.

    This place was great!!There were four of us: shared two small appetizers, each person a main dish, shared two small desserts, each person had two adult beverages..... total for each after tip: $100.We were looking for a place to go after the taping of the Colbert show... found it on Google and decided to try it for the first time. We were NOT disappointed!!I cannot remember the names of the dishes, I do apologize... but we had oxtail, chicken, shrimp, and salmon as our mains, and EVERYONE was completely satisfied.I asked our server what his favorite dishes were, and he gave me two options (I often have difficulties choosing what to eat). Ultimately, I asked him to pick whatever he wanted for me and for it to be a surprise.... that oxtail, yall!!10/10 would recommend!

    Had a very positive experience here after going to the theater. Being a little early makes for a very nice service experience because you get all of the attention. The caipirinhas were excellent as the was the salad and our entrees (pork chops in mustard sauce / steak with chimichurri). Everyone was nice and the pricing was reasonable. ALCS Met game was on TV at the bar. LGM!

    This place was okay. My sister had visited before and raved about this place so I had to come visit myself. The food was good. It was a little dark in here but the atmosphere was nice. The people sitting next to me had to turn on their flash to see the menu.We got the Tres leches at the end of out meal and couldnt finish it. I was gross and very grainy. Definitely skip that.The server was nice however, Depsite him waiting past us multiple times, we had to wait 30 minutes before we got the check even though we were just sitting there on our phones.I waved him down and he just put a finger up and walked away.

    We enjoyed an authentic Cuban meal with live entertainment! It was a lively atmosphere that some may consider loud but I enjoyed thoroughly. People enjoying music, singing, and eating! I felt like I could have been taken back to Little Havana! Service was outstanding with a great team of staff helping one another. Prices were very reasonable. Thanks for a wonderful experience for me and my husband!

    Cuban cuisine is well known. The food is delicious, with a variety of dishes. It requires more than one visit to enjoy the food. The staff at the reception are generally friendly. The table assigned to us was set in the basement of the restaurant. A dish was chosen and another dish arrived. Unfortunately, I expected the person in charge of the table to apologize and change the order, but he insisted on it. My request, and this is not good behavior for a famous restaurant that has customers from all over the world, and this does not mean reducing the level of the restaurant, on the contrary, in order to correct the mistake next time with customers, I recommend visiting the restaurant 👍🏻

    Came upon this place on a google search, for a very late dinner. Post a show at about 1115pm, we went to have some Cuban food. The atmosphere was great, great salsa music and then live salsa music! Which was great even though it was near closing time. The decor was still Christmas which was super cute. I had the Cuban sandwich which was good! And my hubby had the vaca frita. The beans definitely needed some seasoning and salt, overall He liked his dish. We also ordered tostones rellenos with shrimp, I can’t say it was my favorite. The staff were super friendly and the food came out super fast! They didn’t rush us which was comforting to eat and not feel rushed. I ordered a traditional mojito and was not happy with it at all. Unfortunately it was just not tasty, no flavor, it looked pretty but tasted just like alcohol. The food portions were just right, not too big not too small. Maybe next time we will come earlier and try during the day.

    We arrived for dinner at 5:15 and had an hour before needing to head to the airport. The ambience at the bar was festive, but we sat in the quieter dining room. I was excited to see monitor on the menu, after a hot day. It was a nice size, not the usual small glass. Ahh!I ordered suckling pig, and it was delicious, with the beans and rice. My husbands pork chop was a little dry. Service was great! And we were done in plenty of time for our plane.

    I love this place! It’s in a great area and the food is so good! It’s a little pricy but it’s because of the area. The staff was friendly and the service was pretty quick considering how busy and crazy it was. It’s. It a huge place but they have a decent amount of seating for the location including a basement for more seating.

    I arrived with my family to grab a quick bite, but I regretted eating beforehand because everything was so delicious. I wish I had come on an empty stomach! The Pernil sandwich and tres leches cake that I shared with my grandpa were both amazing. If I return to New York, I know exactly where Ill be taking my friends and family!

    What a surprise, this is a must go to the restaurant. I had a steak chimichurri that was fabulous, and Terry had a pulled pork dish that was also amazing. Atmosphere is fun and upbeat with life music. The drinks were excellent. Most of all we noticed, there was an older gentleman sitting at the bar, who seem to be kind of centerpoint of the whole operation. As we got up to leave, he got up To meet us at is it himself as the owner. He was delightful, asking us why we were there what were we doing? What we thought of the food he was wonderful.

    Delicious steaks, chicken, desserts, everything was great for the price. Portions are just right - enough to fill but not bloat. Drinks are also extremely strong, worth the money. Could barely finish the pitcher of mojito. Good for groups, it’s loud/bustling inside.

    We didn’t know anything about this place but we had one of our best nights in NY. The place is original. The band was playing great music (we didn’t know there was a band!!!) and the customers were really happy. The food was really good and very tasty. We liked it, we enjoyed it so much.     This is yummy Cuban cuisine. The food took a little long but it was good. Food was well prepared. This place is not a rush place so it’s a place to take your time. The band was excellent.     Extremely glad we chose to eat here! Food came out smoking hot! The jalapeño margaritas were made to perfection even with their house tequila! Service was outstanding! I enjoyed my yellow rice with shrimp (arroz con camarones) and my husband had the braised oxtails (Ravi encendido)…Very lively place with music that fits the restaurant’s vibe!

    Came for lunch and highly recommend. Its a very authentic Cuban restaurant. They offer a lunch special for 10.95 which includes an entree from chicken to steak to sandwiches and comes with an alcoholic drink such as sangria. The food is excellent. Every evening they play live music.

    We stopped in for lunch and we all were truly surprised at how great everything was. One of my favorite stops while in NY. Well be back in October and this will be our first stop for lunch again. We are back home and wished there was a Cuban place here just like this one. If you are in area stop in here, you wont be disappointed.

    Had a lot of fun here yesterday night. A friend choose here to celebrate her birthday. At first I thought the restrictions to the reservation was ridiculous. (Arrive early, everyone on Ur party has to be available or youll be charged extra $20 per person that didnt show up, you have to leave after 2 hours or you will be charged extra.)We all still had fun.     Could not recommend this place enough! The food was amazing (particularly the paella, steak and sea bass), the staff were so friendly and welcoming and the prices were so reasonable for how much food we had. Love music and a bit of dancing was a perfect way to spend an evening!

    We were going to have pizza until our friend Maya said let’s try this place. I am glad she suggested it. The atmosphere was very lively with a love duo singing and playing drums and electric piano. The staff was very attentive, it made me feel very welcome. We stared off with yuca fries, and chicken empanadas. They were sooooo good. The chicken had some of the best flavors that I have tasted in a while. For dinner I hade the best Cubano sandwich I have ever had. Bread was just the right amount of crunch to it and all the flavors inside were awesome. I think it was the owner that came by a few times to make sure things were good. A very nice touch. I definitely have saved this place on my maps to eat at when in New York and you should too. It is worth it for sure.

    We just happened upon this restaurant by chance on our walk home from Central Park. Lets just say, our group of 8 were absolutely floored and astounded by the atmosphere, the service, the food, and the music. Having been to Cuba several times, I can honestly say it felt like eating at a high-end restaurant in a 5-Star resort in Cuba; perhaps even better! Later on in the evening, there is live music and the guitarist is just so welcoming and fun with all guests. The food is unbelievable and so are the drinks; you absolutely MUST try the paella.

    I came from Cuba so many years ago. Guantanamera really gave me a sense of authentic home with updated ingredients and flavors. My yucca rellena was powdery yet crispy exterior, the meat stuffing was salty and savory and really accented the yucca. My churrasco the heartiness of the sizzling iron plate was completed and push to a new height with the chimichurri’s herbaceous acidity. The musicians played Guantanamera and aided by the food and my classic mojito, i found myself reliving fond memories of my childhood. If you want an escape from NYC’s fast pace come here to Guantanamera and taste and experience a different world. Where food and conversation actually matter.

    Food is good here, the portion sizes are fine, I feel some will say the portion sizes are too small.....but, thats just us being gluttons. The coconut mojito is great, its refreshing and taste great. Normally they will have a guy rolling cigars in the front and a live band in the back. If your in the city and you want to feel like Hemingway,then I would say try this place out. Vegetarian paella is good, so for those veggie heads dont be scared with the overabundance of assortments of meats. I like this place and the staff is friendly and very welcoming. I put this in the show some love its the Brooklyn way category....yes Im aware this place is in the city but you understand what Im saying

    I came here with friends for my birthday last year and this year for my nephews graduation. While the bill can easily get expensive with a large group of people, the food and service is well worth it.I was so excited drinking the delicious pitcher of coconut mojito I forgot to take photos of the food. But I had seafood paella and had to share with my friends. Ive had all the different types of steaks, and theyre all delicious. The churrasco comes out sizzling. The thin steak has tons of flavor. The small pork chunks are also flavorful but dry so we asked for sauce on the side. The beef and chicken empanadas and ham croquettes are great. The kids this time had pollo guantanamera, and shared between them but we asked for an extra yellow rice on the side.The best part about going later at night is the live band. This place is so much fun, you wont regret having a date, family get-together, or celebration here.

    We loved this place, but they kinda forgot us for awhile so it took our food an hour to come out. Our server got our drinks and appetizer so fast, then he disappeared and someone else finally came and took our order and gave us water. But they were all very friendly and it was a very fun place with great food. Loved the garlic chicken and def get a side of maduros! So, so good. Chicken was fall apart tender and garlic sauce was outstanding. My boyfriend loved his meal tool, ground beef with an egg on it. Delicious mojito too! One caveat- its VERY loud. We loved that, the live music was wonderful. But even before the music it was very loud music they played in the restaurant. It was fun, but be prepared for noise. Enjoy!

    Guantanamera is a must visit if you are in New York. As soon as you step inside you are transported to Cuba with live music. The food is tasty and wholesome - making it feel a good home cooked meal. The sense of family is not only found in the food but also in the people.     We had delicious Cuban food made the authentic way, plus nice welcoming staff and a warm atmosphere.We ordered thin traditional Cuban steak and pollo Guagira and we loved them both. The steak comes with a generous amount of caramelized onions that were nicely seasoned, and the chicken comes with several vegetable ingredients, pepper, mushrooms, plantain, etc., a good healthy choice. Make sure to try their mojitos, they were special. I also tried Cuban style beer for the first time that was so good.It was easy to find a table (on a Saturday) and the staff were very attentive and helpful.I recommend this restaurant.

Price average for a dinner entree around $26-28.

    The live Cuban trio was fun, if loud. The black beans met all expectations, the skirt steak was tender and lovely, the salmon was fine--the peppers and onions surrounding the salmon were great. The whiskey sours were on point and very good. Great little spot north of the theater district. Definitely recommended.

    Very kind waiters and quick service!     Great spot in NYC to get real Cuban food. The Arroz con Pollo was full of flavor. The Picodillo was cooked perfectly. The sandwich bread was crispy and the filling was packed with garlicky pork. So good we went twice in one week.

The live music while enjoyable was way too loud, I had to yell the whole time and even then we still couldnt have a conversation. Drinks were good and so was the service.     This is one of my favorite places to eat in NYC. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is lovely, especially with the live music. All of the staff are wonderful. The only negative thing I can think of after many meals there is that once we ate downstairs (did you know there was a downstairs?). We were the only ones down there so the wait staff didnt come by as often.

    We came here to eat diner on new years eve. They had a set up for live music but we left before that happened. The music was way too loud so it was very hard to have a conversation but I guess thats the price you pay for coming in a mayor holiday? The good was delicious and the service was very good too.The drinks are boozy and very tasty.My only complaint is that they included 18% gratuity without even notifying us, I dont mind if they wanna add gratuity but legally you have to make the customer aware of it.

    Another place we found almost by accident. Was raining like crazy last week and we needed dinner but didn’t want to venture far. I had spotted their sign earlier in the day and with the weather as poor as it was, we knew we could get a table. Was busier than expected, but we got a cozy little table. Has one of those crazy multi page menus that make choosing a chore. We had the masitas de puerco (I think) and the bistec encebollado, my wife swears they were the best sautéed onions she’s ever had. Our waiter was great and honestly we were impressed enough to bring our friends back the following day for lunch. Sadly we missed out on the live music, but overall a neat place and worth a visit.

    This was a very nice experience, the staff is on point and always attentive. Food was good, we ordered the churrasco and the ropa vieja, and grilled calamari as appetizer which was really good, the rice and beans were a little bland. I would definitely go back.     My wife and I have been wanting to have dinner at guantanamera for a while now. The food was really good. We had the ceviche to start up and a nice juicy steak for me and my wife had a typical Cuban dish made out of shredded pork with cangri (rice and beans mixed) and cassava. We also had a few mojitos, the passion fruit was the tastiest. Finished with a slice of tres leches cake and a very nice 2 person band that played live music.

    It is a bit in the expensive side but the portions are large so it ends up being a good value if you are hungry.     Just do it! I found Guantanamera on Google and we are so glad we did.My wife and I came in the day before New Years Eve. There is a festive atmosphere with lively music (and live music after 9p) and friendly staff.I had the Ropavieja and my wife had the Vaca Frita with a side of Maduros. everything was cooked to perfection. Our waiter was very attentive and in between serving his tables would dance to the music by himself or with anyone walking by. (We loved it)We live on Long Island but we will definitely be back!

    This place was so good and there were so many great dishes in their menu that we returned the next night for dinner again. The place has a very nice ambient, servers are super nice and very attentive. We had the Pollo al Coco, the Churrasco with Chimichurri and the Pollo Guajira with tostones, amarillos and withe rice with frijoles. Everything was delicious. Desert was awesome too!     This place was amazing the food was good the drinks were okay but the atmosphere was what you really go for. The live band, hand rolled cigars free with tip, and the very nice servers are what make the dining experience good. The food was delicious, I had their pork chop with their tasty sauce. The chop was a little on the chewy side but none the less it wasnt terrible and the sangria was okay but not worth the price. All in all it was a fun place to go to.

    I love this spot. This was my 3rd time here, once at the bar and twice to sit and eat dinner. They play great music. When they have a band perform, they are fantastic. The service is amazing.     My mother and I took a trip to NYC around a month ago. I can safely say this was one of our favorite restaurants, if not our favorite. The staff were exceptionally courteous and helpful, far beyond most service Ive received. The food was fresh and delicious, and the live music was energetic and fun. As far as atmosphere, you definitely get the sense that this is a family run business that takes pride in what they do. My mother told me the only mango margarita that she had that compared was when we were visiting my aunt at the Mexican border. I personally loved the desserts. The only downside to this place is knowing that Im 2000 miles away, though I might be tempted to fly back just for the guava crepes!

Thought it was a place I went to a couple of years ago and it was not.We were able to get seated right away, and the timing was great because within 15 minutes all the tables were full.Got some apps which arrived quickly and were fantastic. We waited a bit longer than wed hope for the entrees. They were really good too. Appreciated that they also brought out a bowl of black beans to accompany the dinner.Service was good. Food was really good.

    We called last minute on Thanksgiving day to see if they could take a part of 10 and they graciously said they would. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, this place felt like we were eating at a friend’s house. The food was exceptional, we ordered a variety of plates and drinks and everyone raved ( including 3 kids). There was live music which was an added bonus. This has been this far our best meal in NYC.

    We ordered the seafood paella and tilapia and both were delicious! The tilapia was very light and flavorful. It basically melted in my mouth. The paella was also very good and they served a good portion of seafood. We loved the live music and vibes of the restaurant

    The cubano was just...mmm....*chefs kiss*! The margaritas were yummy.The staff is super friendly and gave me family feels ❤️. The live band played so many of my favourite tracks. Had the best night!
